Just brainrotting here!!!GhostxRoach again, but im changing the ending of 09 game and Ghost is alive!

Ghost doesn’t die burning in the pit Shepherd threw him and Roach in, he is very weak due to bloodloss and part of his body being burnt, but he manages to crawl out of the pit.

He sends a help signal so Price can send a team to pick them up, but he only then realizes that Roach is still in the pit, burning. He wants to get in and help him, take him out of the flames and put him out.

But he is so weak. He can barely barely stay awake. And he needs to stay awake. The same time, his body is burnt, he is in pain and no place to get up.

He is burning but he is also fully aware he must be getting close to a shock due to weather being cold and him being burnt/hot.

He needs to stay warm, he has to stay warm.

And the only source of warmth is Roach’s body burning.

In front of him.

He can see his body burning through blurry eyes, and he can smell the flesh burning.

He can hear his Bug’s body, clothing and equipment cracking every second. He can’t look away too. He can’t get himself to look away.

Its almost as if he is frozen in time and place. He even thinks about rolling himself back down next to Roach. Die next to him. He can’t leave him to die alone. But it’s also his selfishness. He doesn’t want to lose another person, he’d much rather prefer die next to him.

The bloodloss makes him dizzy, the fire has put out already. No noise around other than the wind blowing between the trees. He looks away, not able to handle looking at Gary’s burnt body anymore. Then, he hears it.

He hears Gary’s grunts.

His head turn back to him so fast, it only adds to his dizziness. Barely able to see properly now.

“Roach ?.. Bug.. Are you.. Alive ?”

He is only responded with more grunts. With an energy burst, Simon throws himself back in the pit. Rolling next to Roach.

Holds the burnt body to his chest, the burnt flesh’s smell fills his nose. He ignores it. Roach is alive goddamnit! He is alive. He is going to make it.

“You’ll be fine Bug. I called for help. They’ll be here soon. We are going to live, everything will be fine.”

He hears more grunts as a reply. It’s all okay. He knows Roach doesn’t talk. They communicate in grunts and some signs. It’s his Roach. And Roach always jumps up from every near-death experiences. Because he is just strong like that.

He cradles the burnt body, barely staying awake but he has to stay awake. And Roach’s grunts help. Everything else is just blurry now.

A few seconds later, he is shaken by someone, yelling his callsign. He can barely hear them.

He feels them try to separate Roach off his arms. He is too faint to hang on.

He gets a moment of clarity that second, just before he faints.

He realizes he has been cradling Roach’s dead, almost burnt to bone body. There was no way Roach had been alive.

Is this my best comic ever?? Nope. Do I think I characterized either of these two particularly well in this comic?? Not really. Did I spend an unreasonable amount of time on it to the point that it would be a waste to not post it?? Yes, yes I did.

I really committed to this one, spent a lot of time on those backgrounds and treated myself to ample suffering with the perspective, which is not my strong suit but I am happy with how it ultimately looks. Yay perspective and background practice!!

(Tbh I shouldn't talk like I think this one sucks, I think I've just been staring at it for so long that my brain has decided it's not good and it's actually way better than I think it is, and honestly I am quite happy with it. The artistic process really is something, isn't it?)

The inspiration was basically me reminding... myself... to take breaks sometimes... by drawing for several hour stints during my only little bits of free time. Which totally tracks. Probably. But I've been rolling around in my brain this idea that Lambert is a very uptight people pleaser and anxious workaholic, but Narinder, at least since adjusting himself to the circumstances (which probably took at least a century, maybe two) has discovered the joys of self care, and has made an active effort to chill tf out. This has not made him any less terrifying to the cultists (save for Lambert's closest disciples), nor has it made him friendlier to really anyone but Lambert (and maybe his siblings), but he sure has found some serious peace of mind. That said, I can't place what his motivations are here. Perhaps he is secretly concerned about Lambert's sanity, because he doesn't want them to turn into what he was, or maybe he's just trying to steal away some quality time with his one and only friend, but regardless of the reason, I spent too much time on this for nobody to see it, dang it.

That said. Enjoy this silly little comic that I spent way too much time on, and I hope this silly comic brings you some joy today.

So we all know by now that Dazai is comfortable enough around Chuuya to show nervousness/worry.

Enough times for Chuuya to pick up on that pattern. The pattern, may I remind you, that doesn't have evident correlation to either nervousness or worry to most people. One that can even be interpreted as misplaced given the situation.

Which means that Dazai has done this in front of Chuuya so often, that Chuuya at first was hella confused, before he finally made a connection between when and why it happens. And still remembered that connection after four years of separation. Which gets us to my point:

What if this isn't the only emotion Dazai displays weirdly?

What if he has multiple unconventional patterns he displays for sadness, frustration, content, or disgust? The times he really feels them, and they become too strong for him to just deal with normally? What if these are the only times he's actually being genuine with his emotions?

And Chuuya is the only one who is familiar with them all?

Dazai would be jumping rope and Chuuya would be like, "quit sulking, let's get icecream"

Dazai hanging upside down on the couch and Chuuya going, "It's okay, mackerel. You can cry."

Dazai actually crying, full on heart-wrenching sobs, and Chuuya unironically going, "What, good news?"

It's just... comforting, for one person in Dazai's life to read him like a book. Everyone else would look at him like he's crazy, displaying wrong emotions/behaviors at the wrong time, but Chuuya knows that it's just how he processes feeling properly, and thus he's the only one Dazai can count on to put things into context and understand, which makes him display them even more openly.

Because Chuuya never shamed him for his quirks, as much as Dazai never did his.

Which is that that’s essentially the same thing Adam and Eve did after they ate the fruit of knowledge of good&evil. So I feel like the theological implications of that could kneecap Gabe if he doesn’t think V1 is a being with free will.
