Why you should watch Las Bravas FC on HBO Max

i binged the show yesterday and fell in love with EVERYTHING. i went to look up the show on tumblr and found out practically no one has talked about it. so, i'm gonna plead my case on why you should watch it.

a brief summary: roberto casas, the best football player in the world, is forced to retire after having a heart attack on the pitch. he falls from grace and as he faces bankrupt, he comes back to his hometown to bedgrugingly coach the local women's football team.

some of the reasons why you should watch it:

it's a comedy series, like ted lasso! i laughed the entire time i was watching, except for the heartfelt moments (and even then i still giggled)

speaking of ted lasso - for those who are football fans and wanted to see more of the technical side of the sport, las bravas has more of that since roberto actually knows about the sport unlike ted.

it's fun and quirky - there's moments where the live action is replaced by animated scenes and it's PRICELESS.

also! to woso fans! janelly farías has a cameo on ep2, rayadas and león (actual liga mx clubs) are mentioned :)

the relationships between las bravas are so funny and well written, they feel like a group of friends you might actually know irl.

roberto's character growth is very well done, he gets consequences for his actions and (somewhat) learns from them.

las bravas are supposed to be high school aged girls/teenagers and they're not sexualized, at all. they all look their age and experience normal things every teenager goes through (this is literally the bare minimum but whe every other teen drama hypersexualizes their female protags, it should be highlighted when one doesn't)

there's disabled and canonically gay characters!!! their storylines don't center around those aspects, it's just who they are.

speaking about that there are two coming out scenes and the second one... tears in my eyes.

the acting is good!!! no complains there.

you can tell the sets and cinematography were done with SO MUCH LOVE - it's visually beautiful and every location, imo, is so well done. all the little details add to a very good worldbuilding of playa ángel.

I've plead my case as good as I could- PLEASE watch it 🙏🏻 I'm hoping it'll get renewed for a second season, it came out on may 5th so we should get news soon... I hope.
