A Day of Amity: The Friendly Baseball Game Between the Ruling and Opposition Parties

At the baseball stadium of Baejae High School on the 13th, the friendly baseball game between the ruling and opposition parties drew the curtains with the first pitch ceremony of Lee Gi-bung, the chairman of the National Assembly at 3:30 p.m.

Both ruling party members in light gray baseball uniforms and opposition members in white uniforms entered confidently, showing off their high-end baseball shoes with shiny metal cleats, but they looked nervous on the other hand. Perhaps because of this, the score was 0-0 until the second inning.

The crowd sitting in the high stands cheered whenever the pitcher from the opposition parties pitched strikes, and applauded whenever Kim Young-sam tried to steal bases. On the other hand, they were just cold to the players of the ruling party. Even they were booing the ruling party pitcher, so it seemed that the stands were totally the opposition parties turf(?) on this day.

In one corner of the stands, Agriculture Minister Chung Woon-gab and independent lawmaker Paik Nam-sik showed quite a bit of fairness by not applauding either side of the ruling or opposition parties. But Nam Song-hak of Liberal Party, sitting next to the two men, made an impressive contrast by sighing "Phew-" with a worried look on his face.

The ruling party's morale was sky high……and the stands were quiet for a while.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, the united team of the opposition parties started to make the desperate offensives, shouting "Lucky Seven." Rep Cho Young-gyu sent Rep Kim Hong-sik to the first base and entered the batter's box. Rep Cho's swing became a home run, which made all the crowd stand up at once. Amid the enthusiastic applause that was pouring into him, he took off his hat and waved it towards the stands like a triumphal general. Meanwhile, the agile young lawmaker Kim Young-sam showed off his own unique stealing technique again. Thus, the score became 5-4.

In this way, the opposition parties team was almost catching up with the ruling party team, but when the seventh inning was over, the ruling party claimed, "We promised to play only the seventh inning with the captain of the opposition parties team." Then, surprised by their sudden claims, the opposition team's captain Kim Hong-sik countered, "Who made such a promise with whom when?"

Ahn So-hee, an excellent reasoning for elaborate operation design

In the tvN Monday-Tuesday drama 'Missing: They Were There 2' Ahn So-hee is playing a brainchild between Go Soo and Heo Jun-ho.

'Missing: They Were There 2' (Director Min Yeon-Hong Lee Ye-Rim/Screenwriter Ban Gi-Ri Jeong So-Young/Planning Studio Dragon/Producer Mace Entertainment Doo Frame/Hereafter 'Missing 2') is a reactivated 'missing people', a new village of spirits, and their earnestness. A fantasy chase drama of 'The Soul Seeing Combi'.

It is heart-wrenching with a warm-toned story that uncovers the truth behind the deaths of the residents of the 3rd industrial complex in the village of spirits and allows them to overcome resentment and sublimate.

Among them, Lee Jong-ah (played by Ahn So-hee), based on her excellent hacking skills, plays a big role as a brain helping Kim Wook (played by Go Soo) and Pan-seok Jang (played by Heo Jun-ho), exuding a strong presence. He helps the investigation of the case of Kim Wook, Jang Pan-seok and Detective Shin Joon-ho (Ha Joon) by finding all the people of the Soul Village Industrial Complex 3, from their personal information to their whereabouts at the time of their disappearance, even with small clues.

Lee Jong-ah not only makes perfect inferences based on the collected information, but also sets up a meticulous strategy to catch the criminals who harmed the missing people, adding to the speed of solving the case with quick brain rotation and executive power.

In particular, in episode 7, Lee Jong-ah uses the mountain location signs 1-8 that Jang Pan-seok found in a picture of a child, Iroha (Kim Ha-eon), as a clue, and quickly searches for mountains with the same sign, which is the mountain with the highest probability of having Iroha's body. Following the discovery, he repeatedly emphasized the sign to Detective Il-Doo Baek (Ji-Han) of the missing team to induce a search.

In episode 10, Lee Jong-ah heard that the serial killer who killed Jang Pan-seok's daughter's local friends was related to the Blue Bird Hope Foundation, and analyzed all the volunteers' applications to find out that the serial killer was caregiver Kim Gun-joo (played by Oh Yoon-hong). Moreover, he played a big role in uncovering all the additional crimes of Kim Geon-joo, who had been murdering poor people in the name of making them peaceful.

Lee Jong-ah opened a cafe near Industrial Complex 3 to cover the expenses needed to find the missing people, and set up a new hideout to facilitate the investigation. A bar that warms the heart by doing its best. Expectations are rising as to what kind of activity Lee Jong-ah will do in the future as a strong supporter of Kim Wook and Jang Pan-seok.

I freaking love this Science-discovery-slash-experiment-gone-wrong Korean Sci-fi drama!

To the negative reviews I've seen floating around the Internet, what exactly was it you expected from The Silent Sea? Was it something more or something less? With that drama synopsis and the trailer, it was everything I expected from The Silent Sea and this is coming from someone who seriously loves her Sci-fi shows, especially the 'Science experiment gone wrong' type. I've seen some people commenting about how slow the drama was going and I would like to remind you this is a drama you're watching, not a 2ish hours movie. I've also seen some people complaining about the ending, for that, I can't counter much because I love my ambiguous sometimes leaning more towards cliff-hanger endings so I absolutely loved the ending too. So yeah, I really can't see why The Silent Sea was received negatively.

That storyline might not be original but I think it's close enough. How they went about that storyline, sure it wasn't original but the space/Sci-fi genre is already such a niche concept, there is only so many ways one can go about it without completely screwing up the entire show. The introduction was magnificent, I have never been so astounded by an introduction montage before. Can we also talk about the soundtrack? That is Interstellar soundtrack level right there. The production team for The Silent Sea really did wonderfully. And honestly speaking, I do not think there's a need to talk about the cast's acting. The casting team found the perfect cast for this drama; the portrayal of their characters, the acting and every single one of them pulled off their costumes so well. Like I said, I really don't understand what was expected of The Silent Sea when those negative reviews came about.

I really only have one small issue with the drama. Did we really need that redundant redemption arc for Ryu Tae Suk at the end? I felt those few minutes could have been used to show something else because I cannot sympathise Tae Suk. His guilt redemption arc made no sense because if he was truly guilty, he would not have done that to E2 and Kim Sun. Sure, Tae Suk might have felt guilty but not enough for a redemption.

I cannot believe I binged this drama so quickly because I am not a binge-watcher. It felt like just last month when I found out about this drama and yesterday when the trailer dropped – I can actually count the number of times I was so hyped for a show and it hit all my expectations and more with one hand.

The Silent Sea is one of those shows that will never leave my mind. It really was a damn good Sci-fi drama. If there is a sequel though, maybe I will still enjoy it but I think it's not going to reach my expectations the way this did. However, if there is, I hope they finally tell the story of how that catastrophic outbreak happened five years ago.

¿Pero qué ocurre cuando la prometida, Jang Yi Kyung (Yang Jin Sung), desaparece de la noche a la mañana?

Mientras su familia busca desesperadamente a Yi Kyung, descubren en un pequeño pueblo pesquero a una chica que luce exactamente igual a ella, por lo que contratan a Na Doo Rim (Yang Jin Sung) para que se haga pasar por ella hasta que encuentren a la verdadera Yi Kyung. Pero cuando la dulce y noble Doo Rim choca con el frío y prepotente Kang Joo, las cosas empiezan a complicarse en este cuento de hadas donde nada es lo que parece y las conspiraciones rodean a todos.

“Bride of the Century” es otra joya que encontré en el video de “kdramas realmente buenos pero poco conocidos”. 

Tiene la dosis perfecta de romance, suspenso y angst (especialmente al final) además de un talentoso cast que incluye al maravillo Lee Hong Gi (FT Island) como protagonista y a la talentosa Yang Jin Sung, misma actriz que fue protagonista en My Unfortunate Boyfriend.

En cuanto a los personajes, mi favorito fue Lee Roo Mi, quien, a pesar de ser la segunda protagonista que nunca obtendría al chico, supo cuando rendirse y para mí eso fue lo más admirable. Por eso Roo Mi no fue pero se convirtió en mi second female lead favorita.

Choi Kang Joo es un personaje que al principio aparenta frialdad, pero no el fondo tiene un lado amable… muy en el fondo porque sus esfuerzos por ser frío sí me molestaron un poco al principio, especialmente por cómo trataba a Yi Kyung. En cuanto a Hong Gi, pues todos conocemos su voz y honestamente no pude evitar recordar a Jeremy de You’re Beautiful jaja, para mí Hong Gi siempre será mi Jeremy.

El personaje que creo que merecía más es Sung Hyuk, el hermano de Yi Kyung. Siempre fue atento y gentil con Na Doo Rim pero obtuvo la peor parte por todo el plan maquiavélico que su mamá y su hermana planearon. Ellas no merecían tener a un hijo y a un hermano (respectivamente) tan bueno como Sung Hyuk.

La química entre los protagonistas estuvo excelente, pero hubiese estado aún mejor si su relación hubiese tomado al menos un  capítulo más para que les creyera y se sintiera un poco más natural el enamoramiento. 

POTENCIAL SPOILER - Comentario sobre el final: Honestamente amé los capítulos finales. Desde el capítulo 12 la historia empezó a tornarse angsty y yo disfruto los kdramas angsty. El final en general fue super bueno, y muy melodramático sobre todo. Llegó un momento en que le gritaba a la pantalla “¿qué es esto?” porque era demasiado triste. Per confíen en mí, termina con un final feliz. 

Curiosidades:

 La casa de Yi Kyung es la misma en donde hacen la sesión de fotos por el compromiso de Esther Lee y el CEO Choi de The Heirs (2013).

El lugar donde Yi Kyung y Kang Joo almuerzan con la abuela materna de Kang Joo en el capítulo 8, es la misma donde Jin Ho y Gae In toman el desayuno en el último capítulo de Personal Taste.

En el minuto 38:40 del capítulo final (16), el corazón que está en la esquina del techo, también aparece en Iron Man como un templo.
