TOKYO ... & MORE!
Tumblr media
HIS Travel’s newly launched & TOKYO series allows you to explore Tokyo and another city of your choice
If you’re thinking of travelling to Japan, it is almost impossible to leave Tokyo out of your plans. The capital of Japan is a brilliant and bustling mess of sights and sounds. Home to approximately 13 million people, the crowded streets and sleek skyscrapers are a familiar sight even to those who have yet to set foot onto Japanese soil (thanks to the numerous directors who have used cosmopolitan Tokyo’s backdrop in various blockbuster movies). Tokyo has more than just steel buildings and futuristic bullet trains to offer. Enjoy a flavourful bowl of ramen on the streets or splurge on an extravagant meal at one of the many Michelin-starred restaurants. Stroll through the impeccably manicured parks of the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden in spring. Visit the historic and austere Meiji Shrine. Explore the quaint neighbourhood of Jinbocho Book Town for a quiet afternoon away from the bustle - perusing second hand books, Japanese art, and cafes.

Couple your visit to the wonderful city of Tokyo with one of the many ‘&Tokyo’ offerings by H.I.S. Travel. The best part about travelling with H.I.S. is that you have the flexibility and freedom to add extra destinations or take a different route altogether! We’ve picked a few to get you started dreaming about your Japan getaway. Mt Fuji & Tokyo Stay at Tokyo and add on a day tour to Mt. Fuji and Hakone - an idyllic mountainous hot spring (or onsen) resort town best known for its views of the majestic Mt. Fuji. The guided tour comes with an English-speaking guide and you’ll be able to learn more about Japan and its prized possession. No visit to Japan is complete without an experience of either the magnificence of Mt. Fuji or the chaos of Tokyo – so we highly recommend this combination to all first timers thinking of heading to the land of the rising sun. If you’re an independent traveller, H.I.S. also has packages that are ideal for those who wish to explore the region at their own pace. Stay for a night at an onsen ryokan or hot spring inn in Hakone for a truly authentic (and absolutely zen) Japanese experience. Included in the package is a two-day Hakone Free Pass - a discounted travel pass that allows you to easily travel around on buses, trains, boats, cable cars and ropeways in theHakonearea; you will also get to enjoy discounted admission to selected tourist attractions! For a closer view of Mt. Fuji, indulge your senses for a night at an onsen ryokan at Lake Kawaguchi. Here, ethereal, picture perfect views of the mountain and the lake await.

Snow Wall & Tokyo Step out of the city for a day to spend the night at a walled-off winter wonderland. When you book with H.I.S. Travel, your package comes with a two-day tour package to explore the magical Snow Walls on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route - one of the most spectacular and surreal scenic mountain routes in Japan. The tour provides you with the ease and convenience of travelling to and from the alpine route, which can be quite an ordeal with the need to take multiple modes of transportation!Walking through the icy white walls will make you feel as if you had just stepped into another dimension; and a stroll through Takayama Old Town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) – one of the sites along the Tateyama Route – will take you back in time to the Edo period.

Sand Castles & Tokyo Not many know of the sand dunes in the Japanese city of Tottori. Named after the city, the golden hues of the sandy Tottori landscape will truly be an unexpected, breath-taking and exciting addition to your adventure in Tokyo. Located along the coast of the Sea of Japan, this natural phenomenon was crafted by the sand and winds over the course of a hundred thousand years. Here, you can sand board, ride on the back of a camel, or visit the sand museum which play host to impressive sand sculptures! http://his.com.sg/

They Didn't Have to Die
The day was still bright and warm. It had been that same way in the Barrens, but in Elwynn, the heat was much more tolerable because the air wasn't full of dust and sand. He didn't need it to be any harder to breathe than it already was.
The sun was nearing the western horizon, but it was slow. Not that Mairdrin was trying to make haste in histravels; he didn't need to, and that wasn't exactly the first thing on his mind as he made his way through Elwynn Forest.
The scene kept playing itself over and over in the elf's head...
It all went by so fast, but in this moment, it was like time had stopped. Mairdrin had been standing there in the center of the small room, aiming the large, gold-tipped barrel of his favorite purple gun at a figure in a red mask.
He had pulled the trigger. The figure was unable to move, now, whether it be to escape or to attack, covered in a thick, solid substance that cemented them to their spot. All he had to do was cover their mouth so they couldn't cast a spell. He was so close to them. Just a few feet.
There was another figure just beside that one; this one had a blue mask. They were untouched, and about to go after the mage who was casting an escape portal for Mairdrin's group as the walls of the heavily incensed room rumbled around them.
It happened before he even knew it. Behind the figure in the red mask, an elf appeared--one Mairdrin didn't quite recognize at first--and he drove two daggers into their back, then resurfaced the blades with a painful twist. Screams of agony pierced the air, slamming all ears back in a recoil.
The rest went by Mairdrin in slow motion. He didn’t know when exactly the other masked figure made its way to their mage. He shoved the elf away from the red mask and fell to his knees at the figure's side.
She was chanting. He had to stop her. Right? He had to. Mairdrin removed the mask to reveal what he had figured before was a woman, and he was right.
She wasn't pretty by any means, but her eyes were wide with fear, her face draining of color and her body of life with every passing second. She was lying there in Mairdrin's arms, dying slowly, her blood spilling out onto the light brown leather of the elf's leggings, and for some goddamn reason, she was still trying to cast a spell.
He put his hand over her mouth. That's all he saw, but somehow, she managed to bite her tongue.
She ends up choking to death on her own blood, and the scene repeats itself, over and over in his head like a broken record. On the outside, there wasn’t a drop of emotion to trace on his youthful features. On the inside, he felt like he was dying with her, still--very slowly.
He came upon a rocky cliff side that let him overlook the tops of the swaying emerald trees that he had passed on the way there. He stopped in his tracks at the edge; his boots managed to kick off a few rocks and some dirt, and they tumble, tumble, tumble, until they hit the ground several feet beneath him and roll off to the side.
The sound was pleasant to his ear; a light, distant rumble. Being out there, surrounded by nothing but nature itself; it was soothing. He had never identified much with the night elves, but there he was, bathing in the comfort of the trees, under the dying light of the day, and somehow he found solace in it amongst his pains.
This often happened when he brought himself to dangerous places. Alone. It made it easier to cry, knowing nobody was there to judge him for it.

TOKYO & MORE: EXPAND YOUR POSSIBILTIES
Tumblr media
This piece is a two-part series on H.I.S. Travel’s itineraries. Read on to find out about some of the other novel experiences offered by H.I.S. Travel!
Be it for business or pleasure, Tokyo is renowned for a myriad of novel experiences. If you’re willing to splurge, dine at some of the finest restaurants in the world; Tokyo is home to more than 225 restaurants with at least one Michelin star, beating cities such as France and New York City. Another thing you should do in the city is to get yourself tickets to a sumo wrestling match at Ryōgoku Kokugikan, an indoor sumo stadium. Soak up the atmosphere at one of the weekend matches, where the crowd gets a little rowdy by pelleting cushions after a good match – it is truly an experience like none other! Paying a visit to Tsukiji Market is rated one of the top things to do in Tokyo. It claims to be the largest fish market in the world, and there is a viewing area in the wee hours of the morning for eager tourists to witness a part of the process that feeds a significant population of Tokyo!
Tumblr media
Couple your visit to the wonderful city of Tokyo with one of the many offerings by H.I.S.Travel. The best part about travelling with H.I.S. is that you have the flexibility and freedom to add extra destinations or take a different route altogether! We’ve picked a few to get you started dreaming about your Japan getaway.
Unkai & Toyo
Visit the ethereal Sea of Clouds or Unkai in Hokkaido when you plan a trip to Tokyo! You will have to sacrifice some of your beauty sleep to experience this natural wonder, but it will be a breathtaking experience that is worth a few hours of your shut-eye. An early morning 15-minute gondola ride between the hours of 5 and 7am will bring you to the peak of the Unkai Terrace. Witness the majestic greenery of the surrounding hills, billowing clouds, and gorgeous sunrise unfold before your eyes as your gondola inches closer to the top. Once you get off the gondola, you will be treated to views of an endless sea of clouds - a real ‘heaven-on-earth’ feeling at the peak. When you find yourself in Tomamu, don’t forget to dip into the largest indoor beach in Japan at Mina-Mina Beach. “Mina” means “smile” in the Ainu language, and it is hard not to when you enter the pearly white and relaxing pool arena. Allow H.I.S. Travel to take care of all the nitty gritty transportation details for you – such as taking a domestic flight into Sapporo, overland bus rides, train to Tomamu. With H.I.S. planning your getaway, you have the luxury of independently exploring Tokyo (or you could choose to embark on one of their many tours) without worry. Leave the hassle of planning and scheduling various modes of transport and accommodation to the professionals!
Fruits & Tokyo
Tumblr media
Spend the day in the great, balmy weather, plucking fresh peaches and cherries before embarking a wine tasting tour when you head on a ‘Fruits & Tokyo’ tour with H.I.S. Travel! Depending on the season, you could enjoy the freshness of strawberries and pair that with a trip to the serene Lake Motosuko; pick cherries and attend Kawaguchiko Herb Festival – an annual festival where you will enjoy the company of lavender beds, crafts, teas and a great of fresh treats! Grab the best of the bustle of Tokyo and the serenity of flower festivals and fruit farms on your holiday with H.I.S.
Rabbit Island & Tokyo
Tumblr media
Spend a week with H.I.S. Travel in Tokyo and on Rabbit Island! Hop on a ferry to Rabbit Island in Okunoshima for a furry good time. Whilst it is already a popular destination amongst tourists from other parts of the globe, H.I.S. Travel is a pioneer in bringing this itinerary to Singaporeans. Get ready to clutch your heart and swallow a squeal from the amount of cute (or should I say, kawaii) you will be going to experience. Your travels to and from Rabbit Island is peppered with many noteworthy attractions. On your ferry back to Hiroshima, be sure to visit the Itsukushima Shrine – renowned for its iconic ‘floating’ torii gate, which was built 200 meters offshore, and known for being the boundary between the spiritual and physical world.
Fox Village & Tokyo
Tumblr media
Here’s another unexpected experience you can pair with your visit to Tokyo – a Fox Village! You read that right. Spend some time with some friendly, tame foxes in a large forest area with a small fox enclosure. If you visit in the winter, get ready for some incredible pictures – it will seem as though you just stepped into a Disney fairytale. These little bundles of joy are friendly, perhaps a little naughty, but are perfectly safe to be around. You will be staying at Shiroishi Onsen Yakushinoyu - a ryokan, which is a traditional type of Japanese inn - that is located close to the Fox Village. Booking a ‘Fox Village & Tokyo’ package with H.I.S. Travel comes with a Flexi 5-Day Japan Railway (JR) East Pass (Tohoku Area) - a special discounted pass which allows unlimited rides on all JR East train lines.
Osaka & Tokyo
Tumblr media
Spend a couple of days in the beautiful city of Osaka. Visit the Osaka Castle, an impressive five-layer structure on a lawn park that stretches over 60,000 square meters! Head up to the observatory on the 8th floor of the castle, which offers impeccable, unobstructed views of the city of Osaka. With your Japan Rail pass, you can explore key attractions that are close to Osaka! Take a day trip to Kyoto to visit the famous orange passageway of the Fushimi Inari-taisha shrine.
Known to be the headquarters of all the Inari shrines nationwide (there is said to be at least 40,000 of such shrines!), it is dedicated to a god who takes care of foods and agriculture, and prosperity in general. Before heading back to Tokyo, spend a day at Universal Studios Japan and have a ball of time exploring the different theme parks!
