Barrage screams big truck, I mean big truck asshole guy, buying parts for his truck to sound like an obnoxious asshole

So his truck would be a 2024 Ram 3500

He mainly got to big jobs, truck things

Does he tailgate people? Not anymore, you’ve yelled at him to not ride peoples ass on the road

He also bought it for when he goes hunting, he could load up as many deer or turkey he could get

Speedy ultra facts (Revised, with a few more facts):

4 out of the original 6 ultra brothers are actually related to each other.

Taro and Ace are brothers, Seven is their cousin.

Jack is married to one of Mother of Ultra's sisters making him Seven, Taro and Ace's uncle.

Seven has a sister and brother.

Seven was raised by his sister after his mother died.

Seven, Jack and Taro have children.

Seven is Zero's father.

Taro is Taiga's father

And Jack has an unnamed son.

(And I guess Ace counts too? since he's Ultraman Z's godfather.)

Taro and Ace are the sons of Father and Mother of Ultra.

Ace is adopted.

Mother and Father's real names are Ken and Marie.

Ultraman is a university professor.

Leo and Astra are twins and princes.

Zoffy is apparently the grandson of ultraman King.

Zoffy smokes (in the manga he does anyways)

An Ultra-baby appears in it's capsule for a few seconds at the end of Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legends in the crowd of ultras who have been unfrozen.

The baby parents are a red(or silver) father and a blue mother.

Jack is one of the few original ultra brother's who stays in regular contact with his human host.

Ultraman Mebius's favorite food is curry.

Zero has a childhood friend named Voice who is a musician.

Ultra's mouths can open and close considering they also need to eat and drink.

Father of Ultra is terrified of angering his wife.

Taro and Ace used to have a pet dog.

Apparently there are cats and dogs in the Land of Light, though they look very different from their Earth counterparts. (Cos Aliens)[though in the comics the pup looks like a normal dog, but in the show it looks like white puffball wit' spider legs.]

Mother of Ultra has at least two sisters, one of whom married jack and the other is Seven's mother.

80 is adopted (at least in the manga adaption he is.)

80's adoptive father's name is Ultraman Red and he's Father's best friend.

Color timers were surgically grafted onto an ultra's chest in early childhood. (Taro has his as a young child in Ultraman Story and Ultraman boy has one...but then there's Geed whose timer really was grafted onto him after birth...Ah, I'm not going down this rabbit hole.)

{(Okay, I went and reviewed the wiki and some other sources on this the Color timer thing has been sort of retconned, They changed the age for Color timers to teen or adult Ultras who have the choice if they want to have a color timer or not (there are lot civvy ultras who don't have a color timer), and that it's mainly for Ultras whose jobs require them to travel off planet or for Ultras who are active warriors in the IGDF. but for the earlier installments (like the original 60s lore) it was at birth.)}

The reason Ultraseven doesn't have a color timer is cos he wasn't meant to be a fighter. His original mission was to scout out and draw a map of the milky way galaxy.

The creator of Pokemon was inspired by Ultraseven, in fact the reason it's called Pokemon is because the name Capsule monsters was already copyrighted by Tsuburaya.

Most Ultras are born through gestation capsules.(However according some of the novels *they might be outdated and thus not considered canon anymore* There are a few that still make babies and give birth the ol'fashion way.)

Fuma, Gai and Jugglus are from the same planet O-50.

The inhabitants on O-50 Aren't born ultras their original forms, As much as it sucks are human-like in appearance, but they do have super abilities to sort of make up for it. The only true way to become an Ultra on O-50 is by being chosen by the Light ring or The voice of light to become one.

The Light Ring/Voice of light is this big blue halo that floats over the planet O-50 that sometimes gives people super powers... ([there's not a lot info on O-50 other then the few snippets from the R/B novel, Orb saga and Fuma's voice drama, so work with me here])

O-50's trial to become an Ultra requires one or more people who must climb to the very top of the planets highest and deadliest mountain: Crusader's peak. Now, they can do this completely on their own or be summoned personally by the Light ring. (According to Fuma a lot of people fail the trial because they either kill each other or die on the climb up.) Anyway when they reach the peak the Ring will pass judgement if they're worthy or not, if they're found worthy then it grants them the power they need to turn into an ultra....If not then, it'll electro yeet them off the mountain like it did with Jugglus.

Though not inhabitants of O-50 themselves, the original R/B/G siblings crashed landed there and got the power to transform into their ultra and Kaiju forms, from the Light ring while to fighting off a monster they'd accidentally woke up while fighting off a gang that had chased them off their home planet.

According to Fuma, Grigio is considered an idol on O-50.

Now on to U-40 Where the inhabitants are called Ultra-people who are all born human in appearance, they're just ultras but human size.

the ancient inhabitants of U-40 through unknown means created the Ultra mind. (It's a core of light that works similarly to the plasma spark.) which helped them achieve a higher state of spiritual evolution that transformed them into ultras.

Unlike their M-78 counter parts the U-40 ultras can't naturally grow into giants; except for this small group of eight warriors who have achieved the ability to grow giant, though much like the creation of the Ultra mind this isn't fully explained on how or why this can happened. (though in Titas's backstory it hints at that it might be connected to resolve and finding balance within one's self.).

Despite that the few inhabitants of U-40 that can turn giant prefer to stay small or in their human forms rather then their giant forms.

Unlike the land of light U-40 still has it's sun and thus has day and night cycles, though one of it's two moons was destroyed by the Heller Army (the bad guys of The⭐Ultraman anime.).

[.....Though, I think I heard somewhere that the Land o light Ultras use technology that's similar to switchable film windows or something to mimic a night-cycle (Well, indoors they do anyways.) but I could be misremembering.]

Titas is a dark giant.

Titas was born in the dark nebula to two soldiers in the Heller Army but his parents didn't want him to follow in their footsteps, so they sent him as an infant to U-40 where he could grow up safely and choose his own path.

Ultraman X possibly dated an alien space cat monster Mu who looks like a cross between a Beholder from DnD and a cat, she also had memory erasing farts.

X doesn't remember dating Mu...

Ultraman thought humans were too primitive to have develop the ability to fly, He was proven wrong moments later by getting hit in the face by a jet being flown by his host Shin Hayata.

Ultras aren't completely made of energy, they actually have skeletons and organs that are sort similar to a human's but also having a few extras that are very alien.

Ultras stop aging at around 10000 years and 1 ultra year is equivalent to 300 human years.

it has occurred to me that this was supposed to be a parkner blog. so here’s some parkner thoughts.

fun fact- harley’s a little gay boy from tennessee who grew up hearing that the devil came for kids like him who wanted to kiss the wrong person. so when harley moves to new york, he’s not immediately waving a pride flag. instead, he has a beat up leather jacket, an old car, and a smirk that could cut glass. peter is sold and practically swooning because hello, gorgeous. but he’s also like,,, harley’s from tennessee. what if he’s like, homophobic??? and not an ✨ally✨??? and then harley full on outs himself to an asshole who harasses peter on the street with an ‘I’m gay, dickface�� and just. punches him hard enough to break his nose. (peter is THIS close to proposing okay)

harley forgets everything. out of sight, out of mind. keys? gone. phone? poof. jacket? who? and peter’s memory is kind of shit, too, honestly, but karen’s memory is fucking golden (perks of being a computer) and she’ll remind peter to remind harley to grab his stuff. harley still doesn’t know peter has karen do it, so he just thinks his boyfriend’s awesome. peter’s not gonna correct him.

peter doesn’t wear nail polish that often, but when harley casually (definitely not feeling casual internally, but that’s fine) mentioned that he was considering sometimes wearing it, peter went ALL OUT. like, he added color, he added glitter, he made his nails the biggest and brightest part of his being. harley called him an idiot, but he would always grin when he saw them, so peter considered it a win.

harley likes country music. but only the country music from 70s-90s. the rest is absolute slander to him.

(yes, I wrote a whole ass fic about that, and no, I’m not sorry.)

peter can’t draw for shit. he just can’t. harley swears by stick figures. (watch the insidious part two promo with ty. you’ll get what I mean.)

peter does unironically call himself biderman. harley calls him homophobic.

harley’s defining emotion is offense and/or what he calls his ‘bitch, fucking excuse you?’ emotion, and he’s very proud of this fact.

peter’s favorite color changes pretty consistently, but he’s really attached to his blue and red, especially when they’re together.

harley’s is dark red (darker than peter’s), and gold. he will deny to his denying breath that it’s tony’s colors, because ‘why would I care about the old man? fuck off’

they aren’t allowed to have a dog, because new york (peter is so sad about this, okay), so harley just brought home a pet lizard one day. no warning. no call. peter asked zero questions and named her mrs. cheeto.

Charlie wakes up a few nights after the extermination finally realizing the man Vaggie was talking about was Adam and being really pissed she didn't get to kill Adam herself.

I don't normally write this ship but Hamster asked very politely if she could send me Charlie x Vaggie prompts and just for her, since she's just the best, I agreed.

Trigger warnings: mentions if rape, sexual trauma, explicit sapphic sex.

Vaggie felt like she was floating. As if she were weightless, despite the feeling of the mattress beneath her back.

The sheets were the silkiest thing her skin had ever felt. A sweet scent dominated her senses; a perfume that had come to smell like comfort and nostalgia for a home she had never known. Or couldn’t remember.

And the heat; it enveloped her, caressed her lungs as she breathed it in, tickled her skin as it sent a singular bead of sweat between her breasts. It wasn’t the sweltering, stifling, dominating heat of Hell. No, this was heat from within; a burning truth that Vaggie had tried to ignore and turn away from for far too long. The heat of passion, desire, and maybe . . . hopefully, of love.

Charlie’s hair fanned out on the pillow on either side of Vaggie as she kissed her from lips to jawline to neck, going lower and lower and lower until she caught the taught peak of one breast between her lips and gave it a playful suck.

Vaggie clenched her fingers into Charlie’s blonde tresses, delighting in the sensation of someone touching her there with the right combination of tenderness and pressure, rather than groping rough hands and teeth.

Charlie sat up, with knees on either side of Vaggie’s thighs, in nothing but a t shirt and panties. She was a real angel; Vaggie was sure of it. This kind, gentle, compassionate soul; half-angel and half-human, untouched by original sin, was the purest person Vaggie had ever met. Not only was she too good for Hell; Vaggie knew better than anyone Charlie was even too good for Heaven.

And she was so beautiful. Her unnatural porcelain skin, her adorable little canines, and even – no, especially – her black hooves that decorated the ends of her feet. Vaggie was in love with it all.

In Charlie’s own excitement, her eyes had shifted into a darker, redder color than her natural ones and even though Vaggie knew it was her demonic side coming through, there was nothing evil in those glowing orbs. Charlie was just a normal girl, a woman, looking down at her soon to be lover with adoration and anticipation.

And then Charlie pulled her shirt up and over her head, exposing the entire naked expanse of her torso for Vaggie’s eyes to gaze upon and worship and Vaggie saw stars.

Pinpricks of dancing little lights seemed to halo around Charlie as Vaggie lay beneath her and pale purple hands reached up and tentatively cupped handfuls of white, rounded flesh. She was shocked at the full and heavy feeling of them, and marveled at how perfectly taught they were.

Charlie giggled and took one of Vaggie’s hands from her body and lifted it to her face, pressing a kiss to the palm.

“You’re shaking,” Charlie said sweetly, a mix of concern and amusement.

Vaggie then realized it wasn’t literal stars dancing around Charlie that she could see, but the results of her own hyperventilating making her hallucinate them.

“Are you okay? Do you need to stop?” Charlie asked when Vaggie didn’t respond right away.

“No, no, no, please. Oh God, this is embarrassing,” Vaggie said and brought both her hands to cover her face. “I’m like a twelve year old boy looking at my first pair of tits.”

Charlie laughed again and leaned down, her face hovering inches from Vaggie’s once more.

“You’re just excited. I think it’s really sweet,” she said and kissed her.

It was a slow, lingering kiss, that forced Vaggie to slow her breathing down and relax into Charlie’s body.

They were both down to nothing but thin pieces of underwear and Vaggie could feel so much more of Charlie’s body now. The sheets were nothing compared to the softness of Charlie’s skin and as the taller woman began to move above her, rubbing their bodies against each other, Vaggie was suddenly aware of just how wet her own pair of underwear had become.

Charlie moved until she had one of her more slender thighs pressed between Vaggie’s fuller ones and rolled her hips, moving herself against Vaggie right at her aching core and despite her shyness, Vaggie felt her body responding of its own accord. She lifted her hips and rocked them into the touch and it was Charlie that groaned first, in response to Vaggie’s eagerness and the dampness she could feel now between them.

A hand slid down Vaggie’s body, slow and appreciating every swell and valley of her curves, until it stopped just between her navel and the top band of her underwear.

“Can I touch you?” Charlie asked and wordlessly, Vaggie nodded.

At first Charlie touched her over the fabric, applying light pressure and gentle strokes over the dampest spot. After a minute, Vaggie had begun moving her hips in earnest to the touch, making lewd little whining sounds she had never heard herself make, and Charlie grew bolder and in one swift motion, slipped her hand inside the underwear and the skin to skin contact there was pure, unadulterated heaven.

Vaggie leaned her head back into the pillow and closed her eyes as Charlie worked her magic; slipping between her folds, dancing from her center to the sensitive apex, stroking the swollen and aching pathway between each destination. Vaggie was a musical instrument and Charlie its master; her fingers knowing just the right combination of chords to make Vaggie sing for her.

And then she slipped her fingers inside.

It wasn’t as tight of a fit as what Vaggie had experience with. The deep, forceful pressure wasn’t there. In fact, Charlie curled her fingers up in a surprising way, staying relatively shallow rather than trying to completely fill her up, and stroked and pulled on an inner part of Vaggie that had only ever been abused before.

For the first few seconds, it did feel lovely.

But the nervous system remembers what the rest of the brain tries so very hard to forget and that phantom ache came from deep within her. Vaggie tried to focus on the fact that this was her girlfriend, this was Charlie, and she loved her and wanted this but her mind kept flashing back to the before.

To heaven, where everything was white and gold.

To gazing up at the ceiling and the four poster bed painted in gold and covered in transparent white sheets.

To robes, white and gold, hiked up around his hips, exposing himself to her, pressed against her. Inside her.

She should have considered herself lucky.

White, the color of purity.

She was his favorite. His best girl.

Gold, the color of victory.

He wanted her the most. Always told her how well she took him.

White, the color of feeling cold and naked.

Some of the other women were even jealous of her, asked her what she did that made her so good in bed.

Gold, the color of the eyes in his mask as they narrowed whenever he came inside her.

She always told them the same thing.

She did nothing.

She just laid there and let him do whatever he wanted.

Vaggie could hear Charlie’s voice coming from the other side of the bathroom door but wasn’t ready to respond.

Not when she felt more vomit rising in her throat; not when the tears hadn’t stopped flowing yet.

“Vaggie, I’m so sorry. Please just tell me whatever it is I did wrong and I won’t do it again. We don’t have to do anything else tonight. We don’t have to do anything else until you’re ready. Even if . . . even if you’re never ready. Please. Just talk to me. Just let me in. I didn’t mean to hurt you-“

Charlie’s voice cracked and even through the closed door, Vaggie could hear her stifling her own sobs. It just made Vaggie feel worse.

She had ruined everything.

She was ruined.

Used up, damaged goods. And if Charlie found out the truth, how could she ever want to touch her like that again? But Charlie deserved to know; to understand this wasn’t her fault, but Vaggie’s.

Vaggie should have told her sooner. Before she had let Charlie bring her into her bed.

Before she had made Charlie cry.

Standing on shaking legs, Vaggie looked at the door. It wasn’t locked but that was another thing that was so great about Charlie; she respected boundaries and really, genuinely cared. Vaggie knew that door would stay closed indefinitely as long as it was her wish for it to remain so.

So she took several unsteady steps towards it and opened it.

“I don’t remember being alive. That part was true. But I do remember things from before the night you found me. I just wasn’t ready for you to know the truth.”

Vaggie was sitting up on the edge of the bed, her own shirt and skirt back in place and a tissue box placed in her lap that Charlie had given to her.

Charlie had just thrown on a bathrobe before bringing her the tissues, and a trash can in case Vaggie got sick again, and was seated next to her, a careful hand resting on her shoulder.

“I still . . . I’m still not ready for you to know everything. I’m sorry Charlie, I just can’t. It’ll make it worse for me.”

“Okay,” Charlie said quietly, nodding in understanding.

“I don’t know if it’s because I don’t remember what I did or who I was when I was alive but when I died, I was assigned. I guess that’s the best way to put it. Given to sounds wrong but I don’t know, maybe it‘s not. I didn’t have a choice either way. Or, if I did, I wasn’t made aware that I had a choice. The people who were in charge of me, they made it all seem so normal. No, that’s not right either. They made it seem like an honor. Like I was blessed to be given the position I was in. And the other women acted like it to. God, we were so brainwashed. So willing to believe all the lies he fed us.”

“He? Who’s ‘he’?” Charlie asked.

“I . . . can’t tell you.”

“Do I know him?”

“Charlie- ”

“Sorry. I’m sorry. It’s just . . . I could do something about this. Maybe. You know, if I knew who he was I could tell my dad and- ”

“No.”

Charlie sighed and rubbed Vaggie’s shoulder.

“Okay,” she repeated and let Vaggie continue.

“There were over a hundred other women. Maybe even two hundred. I’m not sure, I never found out. Never learned all their names or their stories. I thought I had made some friends amongst them but when I tried to go against one simple order . . . well, that was the night you found me. But the worst part was what we did outside of our . . . work. The guy who was in charge of all of us, the one we were assigned to, he slept with us. All of us. He made us believe it was some kind of sacred duty for us to perform, our rightful role as women, but that’s not what it was.”

Charlie’s hand had gone very still on Vaggie’s shoulder.

“It was rape,” Charlie said quietly and Vaggie didn’t answer. “Vaggie . . . I- ”

“Not all the women saw it that way. Hell, I didn’t even see it that was at first. But then I started to. And then I started to question . . . everything.”

Vaggie fell apart then and Charlie held her as she sobbed, crying alongside her. Vaggie lay there in her arms, letting Charlie stroke her hair and kiss the crown of her head, until finally the sobs choked out and the tears dried up, and Vaggie fell asleep.

When she woke in the morning, she was shocked to find herself still in Charlie’s arms and still in her bed.

Charlie hadn’t left her, hadn’t wanted to stop touching her, even after she had learned the truth.

Vaggie lay there, watching her girlfriend sleep, and brushed a bit of bedhead messy blond hair out of her face. For the princess of Hell, Charlie was not a graceful sleeper. Her mouth was open, she was lightly drooling on her pillow, and she was snoring tiny little adorable snores that occasionally ended in a tiny whistle.

And still, she had one arm stretched out and wrapped around Vaggie.

“I love you,” Vaggie whispered and knew she never wanted to sleep in another bed ever again.

A couple of nights went by and while they had shared a bed, they hadn’t done anything past cuddling and kissing. But Vaggie really felt like she was ready for more, she was just waiting for the shoe to drop and Charlie to lose her patience with her or find her disgusting. When it became apparent that wasn’t going to happen; if anything Charlie was more doting and kinder to her than ever before, Vaggie decided to verbalize her desire to try again.

“Maybe if I touch you first, it’ll be different enough. I mean, you are different. Very different. I mean, just the fact that it feels good when you touch me is different, I just think I need- ”

“I totally get it,” Charlie interrupted, though with a kind smile.

That was how Vaggie found herself on top the second time they tried and found herself enjoying it far more than she could have ever imagined.

She mirrored what Charlie had done to her the night before; her mouth tasting every bit of flesh on Charlie’s upper half she could find, savoring the flavor and texture of her skin against her tongue and the way her natural scent filled her up. Charlie bolted awake from her nightmare, panting and near tears, taking a moment to gather her wits and realize she was safe and sound in the new hotel.

She looked to her side and sighed a grateful, relieved sigh when she saw Vaggie sleeping soundly next to her, undisturbed by Charlie’s sudden motion.

The night of the battle still haunted her and Charlie knew it would a while longer. She sat forward, wrapping her arms around her knees, thinking of all that had gone wrong.

Dazzle and Sir Pentious, gone forever.

Even the few fallen from Cannibal Town had Charlie’s heart tied into knots whenever she thought of their sacrifice.

Even Alastor, who was clearly suffering his own damages, though she knew he would never talk to her about it.

There were small victories. Cherri and her father joining them permanently at the new hotel were among her favorites.

And there was the kind of lightness in Vaggie these days that Charlie taken immediate notice of. Like a literal weight had been lifted from her girlfriend’s shoulders. She laughed easier, was less jumpy, less quick to defensiveness and anger.

Charlie had thought the battle would leave Vaggie emotionally scarred and more distant than ever when the opposite had happened.

In fact, she had rarely seen Vaggie without a smile on her face since Niffty had stabbed Adam.

Adam.

Suddenly the truth slammed into her and Charlie had to cover her mouth with her hands to stifle the horrified sob that threatened to erupt from her.

Vaggie’s voice from the first time they had tried to have sex rang in her ears as her memories of that night came back to her.

Like I was blessed to be given the position I was in.

He made us believe it was some kind of sacred duty for us to perform, our rightful role as women.

Vaggie had even confided in her months later that he always liked it best when the women just laid there and did nothing, missionary style.

All the signs had been right there, right in front of her.

She had even read about the very same thing, that horrid detail, when she found the writings the humans had made about “Lillith and Adam” in the Garden of Eden. How Lillith wouldn’t “submit” in the natural womanly way and wanted to be on top. How they had made Eve so that she would lie on her back for Adam and allow him to be the man he knew himself to be.

It filled her with rage. For her mom. For Vaggie. For every woman who had been plucked from the Earth and placed in Adam’s path by Heaven itself.

How could Heaven allow such behavior? Not just tolerate it but raise up the man who acted that way on a pedestal of fame and glory.

She hated them.

For the first time in 200 hundred years, Charlie hated.

She shouldn’t have told her dad to stop hitting Adam. She should have choked him out herself. Should have drove an angelic spear through his ugly, spiteful face and watched the light leave his eyes herself.

Charlie felt herself shaking, digging her nails into her palms and biting her lip until both were bleeding.

She’d seen far worse behavior in Hell, sure, but that was to be expected here and she still didn’t allow it in her presence. The pure evil hypocrisy of Heaven finally came into full light for Charlie and that night, she let all pretenses of ever trying to work with Heaven go.

They’d had their chance to right their wrongs.

She’d shown them over and over again that they weren’t so different, and they had laughed in her face and tried to murder her and everyone she loved just because she cared enough to be better when they refused to be.

Well, if they wanted a war against Hell, then that was what she would fucking give them.

so...i just watched wicked! here's my review, with the goods and the bads. these are more or less in order. major spoilers for wicked below!!

disclaimer: i watched and am talking about this movie as a person who has not watched the plays or any content related to wicked before, and just knows the story of the wizard of oz. i didn't even know the wicked witch of the west's name was elphaba before this movie came out (it's never generally mentioned okay 😭) so that is how clueless i am. however, im kinda glad about that, because otherwise much of the plot might have been somewhat anticlimatic.

additionally, i am a naturally cynical person and even if i love something, i feel the need to point out all its flaws, so bear with me!

below the cut! bullet points because i felt like it

wicked was an overall amazing movie and experience, ariana and cynthia were outstanding, and i absolutely cannot wait for the second movie!

the introduction with the munchkins celebrating elphaba's death had me expecting her to die throughout the whole movie, i was almost certain there would be tears. BUT IM SOO GLAD SHE DIDNT!

elphaba being the child of a secret alcoholic affair was NOT expected, nor did i expect that to be shown. (plus it escalated so fast) random, but i had to say it 😭 and im sorta glad her moms not alive anymore

at first, i expected nessarose to be that one person in elphaba's childhood, i was actually really surprised when she wasn't. still, an interesting character who needs more recognition!

the fact that the movie was directed by an asian director has me so happy, because i also saw a lot of representation in the background cast! different skin colors, body types, hair colors (GINGER REPRESENTATION LMFAO), we got them all! and i was SUPER happy about that!

one of my new favorite quotes is 'well, bock, i believe strangers...are just people i've never met *hair flip walks off*'. like GALINDA HELP 😭😭🙏🏽🙏🏽 whyd i actually expect that to be some sort of inspirational quote loll

is there a reason why all the male extras were so zesty? like i swear, ALL OF THEM WERE GAY FOR FIYERO (and fiyero was flirting back). ESPECIALLY THAT ONE ASIAN DUDE WHO BECAME FRIENDS WITH GALINDA IN THE BEGINNING, his lines had me rolling lmfao

not the popular boy x popular girl until popular boy actually falls for the nerd girl trope...whyyy...also fiyero lowkey gave flynn rider vibes with that entrance (but i havent watched tangled either cuz i dont have a life or a disney account sooo)

madame morrible using elphaba, and the wizard being powerless? that was not expected ( though my dad anticipated madame morrible being 'evil' from the beginning, hes smarter than me )

So there's definitely a lack of queer anime out there, so I wanted to talk about three that I think would make good anime. (Note: I realized all these are mainly centered around mlm relationships, so... take that as you will!)

Blue Flag

Blue Flag is one of my favorite romance manga that hasn't been adapted into an anime, and I think it seriously deserves one. It's honestly a love triangle, but one of the only series I've seen that actually does a triangle instead of an angle and does it well. It follows Taichi, a high school third year who is growing apart from his childhood best friend, Touma. Things sort of change when Futaba approaches Taichi due to her crush on Touma. The two become closer, and unbeknownst to them, Touma is gay and in love with Taichi. And as a bonus, Futaba's (female) best friend Masumi is in love with her, too!

Blue Flag is ultimately about navigating those confusing feelings of love in that weird transition between childhood and adulthood. While it's not a complicated premise, it's a beautiful, full tale of romance and friendship that would make an incredible anime if adapted fully. This is one I truly hope will get an adaptation someday.

Go For It, Nakamura!

I know this is kind of a weird one to think would fare well as an anime, but with the success of Komi Can't Communicate and anime with similar structure, I think this one would do well! Go For It, Nakamura! follows Nakamura, a shy high school boy who is completely in love with his classmate, Hirose. It's an episodic comedy with many elements that parody BL, all while celebrating other elements of it.

Nakamura is such a lighthearted read, and if it were a bit longer (another volume, maybe?) it would make a great episodic comedy anime. I honestly think it may even open up the BL genre to people who would've never considered it before. (Such as my brother. He would like this one!)

I Hear the Sunspot

Okay, I know this one got a live-action movie adaptation, but when I read it I just kept thinking of how pretty it could be animated. It follows Taichi (I know), a cheerful college student, and Kohei, who struggles with hearing loss. Taichi is able to break through Kohei's shell, and the two of them start this more than friends less than lovers relationship.

Besides the fact that it's a great manga and it's always nice to have more disability representation in anime, I think it would just look so pretty as an anime. I kept imagining a softer color palate with lighter animation, similar to something like Sweet Blue Flowers. I just think it would be so pretty.

Bonus: They should adapt Harukaze no Etranger (continuation of Umibe no Etranger), especially since the best character doesn't get introduced in what was in the movie, and I want to see him.

So that's all I had on the top of my head. Please give any titles that come to mind that would make great anime! (I will use these as recommendations...)

Last Twilight Ep 6 Stray Thoughts

Last week Day met August again for the first time, and it was clear that the attraction between them is mutual. Mhok encouraged the two to hang out, and had a practice date with Day to get him ready. However, August let all of us down. Day waited an hour before Mhok came back in to take Day around. Still, they waited until late for August to arrive as Day recounts that he did like August. August then bailed again, telling Mhok not to let Day know he was there. I’m also worried about how much Day compromises himself for August’s benefit.

I like the way Mhok gave the glass of water to hungover Day.

Does Day not remember much of the night? Either way, I’m glad Mhok avoided fibbing.

Okay. I liked Mhok’s glare here. August needs to know that Mhok is not going to be passive about Day.

I will accept August’s excuse for now, but he’s on very thin ice.

I’m invested in Aon’s new relationship with his girlfriend way more than I expected. He looks so happy about it.

I feel like there’s a lot double meaning in the dialogue this episode.

One of my favorite framing techniques in BL is when two people are facing each other and a third person is framed between them. They keep doing that with Mhok between Day and August.

I like the reminder that Mhok is maybe a little bit older than these college kids. Also glad Porjai is calling him out on his obvious crush on Day.

Oh, he used his eye drops to look at August.

They’re holding hands while they run now? Well, well, well.

There’s a race next month? How will August let us down, and will Mhok rise to the occasion and be his racing partner?

Okay, I really like the mom celebrating Day’s birthday a little bit early because she’ll be busy, and Day appreciating that she still prioritized him.

Will someone tell Mhok (and us) what this drama between the brothers is about??

Be careful touching that earring, Day! I watched the BTS and it is barely holding on with magnet, glue, and prayers!

I like the surprise party for Day. This is excellent drama. We thought August forgot, but instead it’s Mhok having to back down.

This is way too many people touching and fussing over Day at once. He’s going to freak out.

Okay, Aof, having Mhok show up just in time to see August kiss Day, and have him appear between them? Mean.

WAIT? DID AUGUST JUST WALK AWAY??

A GOOD MEMORY??? WHERE IS THE GIF OF BRIGHT SAYING, “KILL HIM”? I don’t like the pity coloring all of his choices here. I get that he doesn’t have control of how he feels, but initiating this kiss was a bad call.

Oh good. We’re on a rooftop. Let me calm down.

Mhmm, and this is why I’m mad at August. He ruined what should have been a kind gesture. Day feels like people only showed up to celebrate him because they pitied him.

Timing this kiss with the sun like this? Now that’s cinema, baby!!

I love Aof. Next week promises to sort out the feelings stirred and revealed by this kiss.

I’m so disappointed in August. I was already down on him last week because of the way Day feels like he has to accommodate him, and then he lets us down like this? I’m over this boy! I don’t want to see his ass again in this show! Baby Ohm, I love you and we will see you in Kidnap with Big Ohm later! Goodbye!

🎥 last movie: I think the last movie I watched was Come and See (1985) directed by Elem Kilmov - which is considered by some to be one of the only (actually) anti-war movies ever made. I highly recommend it but I will warn you, it is one of the most brutal movies I've ever seen. (warning - even the trailer is hard to watch)

📺 last tv show: The Boys (Season 4) - ehhhhhh it's okay. Gratuitous sex and violence. I do think it's funny that when this season came out everyone said "Oh, its too on the nose!" but now that Trump is back in office everything that happens in the show feels absolutely plausible lmfao.

💕 relationship status: Recently ended a long term relationship and we are still living together! This Week in BL - Dog Days of BL but July is Incoming

June 2023 Wk 4

Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying most.

Ongoing Series - Thai

Step By Step (Tues WeTV & Gaga) ep 10 of 12 - I’m finding the time frames confusing. Still, a lovely crying kiss + a very high drama-lllama gay confession. Kitchen counter make out, my fav! The actor who plays Jeng kisses at MaxTul levels, which is to say = like a man who has actually done it before with genuine desire and is capable of portraying that on screen. (What makes MaxTul kings is that they BOTH do this.) Pat caught up, thank goodness. Also P’Jeng!!!! P’JENG!!! I love how intimate phi is when it’s been all khun prior. This is the Thai version of hyung slinging. Errotic linguistics, my fav. And ALL the work drama and homophobia fall out when you sleep with the boss. I really enjoy that the angst concerning their relationship has to do with the fact that this is an office romance. Lastly? I love Chot so much. Everyone needs a gay auntie. Also Bruce is SO DAMN GOOD. (I mean we knew he would be from Lovely Writer, but this... chef’s kiss.)

La Pluie (Sat iQIYI) ep 10 of 12 - There are enough meta-analysis on this one for me not to have to weigh in. Suffice it to say that I like what it’s trying to do, and I certainly appreciate the levels of consent and so forth but I’m not sure I actually like it as much now that we are swimming in high concept. Too much lying. I’m not sure I want my BL to make me think this hard. Also poly, boys = final answer. (Anyone else getting Color Rush flashbacks?)

Be My Favorite (Fri YouTube) ep 6 of 12 - I love Max now and forever, and I made some very bad puns in the Trash watch here. Otherwise I’m not super invested.

Dinosaur Love (Thai Sun iQIYI) ep 1 of 10 eps - from Ultimate Troop (The Yearbook people) so I shouldn’t watch this as it airs, after Remember Me? I swore never again. But there’s so little on right now, I’m falling on the pulp sword... My initial thoughts? It’s an En of Love installment? What is going on? Why all this opening with the sides in a bar? Are we framing? Just move on to the 2 boys kissing! Don’t try to be clever, for fucks sake. Okay, good, the pulp has begun. I like soft wet-blanket Rak and his sad love life. I’m not wild about how aggressive Dino is plus insta-SINGING but I DO LIKE THAT HE’S OUT and knows what he wants which is refreshing. It’s trope filled nonsense (crash into me, instalove, sing feelings, floppy drunk, he’s in engineering, fast and bi-curious) also Dino used ter at first (how forward!) then he went to gu/mueng after rejection, while Rak uses khun & phi/pom. Love this for them. Despite my justified reservations with this production team imma stay watching. I need something on Sundays. *

Luminous Solution (Sat Gaga) ep 6fin - That’s it? Bullsheiit. No seriously. That’s my review. 3/10 I DON'T KNOW WHAT I JUST WATCHED AND NEITHER DOES IT AND I’M MAD ABOUT IT.

* I got to say, you have only yourselves to blame for Dinosaur Love’s ranking. Once upon a time, I lived happily in ignorance of the Thai film industry. And then you all kept asking me extremely intelligent questions about it. And because I am a nosy little shit, I had to figure out what was going on. And now a BL like this, which ordinarily I would just love unconditionally, is a really scary place for me, because I know too much about the production house. The evils of too much information are all true. Remain happily in ignorance, I advise you, especially where BL is concerned.

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Love Tractor (Korea Weds iQIYI) eps 7-8fin - Yechan is such a frank character it confuses all who meet him, also a truly terrible flirt. This is such a puppy/cat relationship. It was cute but it went too far into cringe for a KBL (for me). I don’t think Kdramas are good at farce (sorry), better if they stick with more subtle humor. It was a sweet ending tho, not too cheesy. Nice kiss for KBL but pretty rather than sexy. Full review below.

Tokyo in April is... AKA Shigatsu no Tokyo wa (Japan Thurs Gaga) ep 3 of 8 - Oh, it’s GREAT. Damn it. There is a lot of subtext and things not being said. This is going to be one of those shows where it’s endlessly frustrating that they don’t just talk to each other. The crying first time was gut-wrenching. Ren is complicated & scarred & closed off. Kazuma is earnest & empathetic & thinks he’s unworthy - so will take whatever crumbs are handed to him. They are both giving parts of themselves away in a desperate attempt to shape themselves to the expectations they have of each other. These 2 are gonna fuck each other up while they fuck and fuck with our hearts. Japan is giving us the Bed Friends that Thailand can never even imagine. There is absolutely no guarantee this will end happily (it’s from the Eternal Yesterday people) but it is guaranteed to be painful and beautiful along the way. Oh Japan, must you? I guess you must.

Stupid Genius (Vietnam Fri YouTube) ep 4 of 6 - I’m mostly confused by the catfishing & tarot side plots. But the mains sure act like bfs. To the point of our tiny jock idiot getting gay panicked by how much bfs they are. Surprise kiss! For everyone, it turns out. Yes I laughed. What? It was pat but also… FUNNY.

Tie The Knot (Pinoy YouTube) ep 3 of 8 - The main couple is adorable, but I’m not wild about the gay bashing blackmail side story. Still, it’s the best we’ve had from the Philippines in a while so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Vian the series (Vietnam YouTube ) ep 9 of 12 - Seriously? Bah Vinh = chemistry with EVERYONE.

Naked Dinner AKA Zenra Meshi (Japan Fri Gaga) ep 12fin - So Souta just disappears off to Singapore and doesn’t say anything to his boyfriend about it? And then comes back with the perfect plan and life for both of them? Oh Japan, must you? Review below.
