Rin Masterpost
Rin! Rinsha Fana! Beloved side character I think about far too much (or maybe not enough?)
I decided that it might be nice to put together an informational post about Rin, since she has some of my favorite background details of any character in Dungeon Meshi. This is partly as reference for myself, and partly for anyone else who might be interested in her but not know where to chase down the tidbits we we get of her, both in canon & extra materials. There’s also a little bit of theorizing and analysis sprinkled in for fun.
If anyone spots something I missed, please let me know and I will add it in!
Alright. Time for ultimate #rinposting
History and Timeline:
We don't have an official timeline for Rin (even in the expanded Adventurer's Bible, sadly), but we can put a lot of pieces together based on Kabru's timeline & their respective ages.
Rin is 2 years older than Kabru, and they met when he was 9. Assuming that he met her soon after she was taken to the elven capital, that means that the elves took her when she was 11.
Before that, she lived on the Northern Continent. Interestingly, when Mickbell asks about Shuro, Rin says she was born "here."
Since "here" doesn't mean the actual Island itself, it must mean simply "not the east." She is described in the Adventurer's Bible as having "no real knowledge of or attachment to the East," so maybe that's why she draws a "there" verses "here" line.
I'd also like to add a note here that the elves don't seem uh... they don't seem great about respecting the value of other cultures, especially those of short-life species. Milsiril seems to have discouraged Kabru from eating or remembering food from his hometown, at least, and that's even as an adoptive parent who cares (at least in some way) for her child. As I will touch on later, the "care" that Rin was under probably had even less respect for her history or ties to either Eastern or Northern culture.
That is all to say, considering that Rin spent many years with the elves, I'd take her having "[no] attachment to the East" as more of a comment on how she feels now, and less as a definite choice she made. She may genuinely have chosen that approach and opinion for herself, she may have been pushed towards it by the elves, and she may have had little choice at all in the matter - all are valid interpretations, though I personally lean towards the thought that it's unlikely the elves didn't have at least some hand in it.
Anyway, Rin does seem to know at least a bit about her heritage - she can presumably name and identify the specific island her parents are from, and she recognizes that "Shuro" isn't a name used there. She also knows that different places from the Eastern archipelago speak different languages, so she knows at least a little about the other islands as well.
Some additional extrapolations I'll make based on these facts: she never mentions, and probably isn't in contact with, any family from her island. This may be because her extended family died, because her parents didn't (or weren't able to) maintain contact, or because she lost contact when she was taken by the elves. Somewhat relatedly, she also prooobably doesn't speak the language, at least not fluently, though her being able to comment on the state of language in the archipelago makes me think that she at least learned a little as a kid.
Anyway, Rin's parents were refugees from the archipelago, though we don't know what specifically caused them to leave. There is this little tidbit of info we get (from the cover of chapter 48, of all places), though:
So yeah, that seems like it would be the backdrop of Rin's parents fleeing. As I said earlier, it's unclear if Rin might have any living family left back on her island. The listing she has for “family” in the Adventurer's Bible is just a dash, but so is Izutsumi's, for instance, and we know that she was taken from her family with no knowledge of who might still be out there. It's possible everyone else was killed, it's possible they were separated... it's possible that Rin's parents didn't even know.
As an additional note, and this is speculation on my part, but I think there is an argument to be made, with this tidbit from the cover as well as the Nakamoto clan's specialty in espionage and use of ninjas, that the politics of the archipelago are partially based on Sengoku era Japan. Not necessarily super relevant here, but I think it's interesting context for all... of the archipelago characters, honestly.
(Especially considering it seems like the Nakamoto clan is in a relatively comfortable position, and yet clearly are involved, or at least prepared to be involved in larger conflict. How stable is their position, really? How is Shuro's father viewed by the wider region and archipelago as a whole? What about his lord? NOT THE POINT THIS IS A POST ABOUT RIN. BUT IT'S VERY INTERESTING TO THINK ABOUT.)
Okay, back to Rin's parents.
Whatever caused them to leave, they made their way to the north, where they made their living with their magic for a time. There are no specifics about what kind of magic they used, but we know at least some examples of jobs that magic can get you, based on the flashback to Laios and Falin's childhood in chapter 26. Laios proposes that Fain could use her magic to be a priest, gravekeeper, or wandering exorcist. Though these are specific to Falin's affinity with spirits, they give some idea of the shape of the work that might be available. It's important, but it is also on the outskirts of society - not necessarily admired or appreciated by the average person.
And Rin’s parents were killed by vigilantes for that magic. It's not entirely news that superstitious villages in the area would sometimes kill magic users - we see a small drawing of people being burned at the stake in a panel towards the end of the manga:
Nonetheless, Rin is the only person in the main cast who has experienced this brutality firsthand. And she did experience it firsthand, having been found by the elves as the sole survivor within the burnt ruins of her home.
It is unknown exactly how she survived, or what happened to her parents before and during the fire. Rin lived, and they did not.
The elves came some time after the fire, intending to investigate reports of ancient magic. They (and we) don't know if Rin's parents actually did use ancient magic, or if the reports and murders were simply spurred by general fear and superstition. Rin was the only piece of "evidence" that remained, and so she was taken back to the west with the elves when they left.
We don't know much about her time on the Northern Central Continent (where the elves/Canaries are based), but it doesn't seem like she was adopted or taken in by anyone the way that Kabru was. According to the Adventurer's Bible, after being taken into custody, "under their care she was treated as a captive animal would be." I would guess that means very basic food and shelter, little to no education. Probably the most social contact she got was from Kabru, as well as maybe, occasionally, from elves treating her as a curiosity, such as in this bit in the Adventurer’s Bible:
Assuming she left with Kabru (which seems like it is the case, there's no info about them having separated during that time), she spent 9 years with the elves, and has been with Kabru on the Island in the 4 years since then.
She also stays in the Golden Country after the end of the story, apparently working as an apothecary.
Additional Details (& Speculation):
What does she remember of her family and home?
I'd like to take a moment here to explore a little of what Rin might remember of her parents and home.
For reference, we can look at Kabru. The canaries came to Utaya when Kabru was 6, and he arrived in the capital when he was 7. He remembers the events of the tragedy in his home, and has some memories of his mother and life in Utaya, including memories of local dishes.
Rin lost her parents and home at 11, so she presumably has much clearer memories of the events that lead to her being taken by the elves... or she might, assuming that they haven't been completely blocked by her trauma from the event.
Yeah, I am fairly damn sure that she's got some memory issues from trauma and PTSD. For one, this is the state she was found in:
As already mentioned, she was also treated like something of an animal by the elves. She probably didn't have a lot of contact with other people, which would further perpetuate that sense of isolation and dehumanization. What I'm getting at here is that Rin probably didn't have much to help pull her out of this place, or heal these wounds. She had Kabru, who was also a kid and even younger than her, and she had herself.
Obviously trauma leaves different scars on everyone, and everyone responds and copes in different ways. But I do think it is interesting that we never hear anything about Rin's parents or life before the elves, and there are no real details about it given in the Adventurer's Bible the way we have for Kabru. What's presented is more surface level facts: they were refugees, they made a living with magic, they were killed.
I'm inclined to believe that things are laid out this way because that's how Rin holds on to these things. She knows things about them, but possibly remembers them more as things she was told/knows to be true, rather than actual memories she can picture herself experiencing.
Rin's Magic
In an interesting counterpoint to her potentially spotty memory, I do actually think Rin may have learned magic from her parents (or started learning, and was self-taught from there). She never attended a magic academy, and actually has a bit of grudge against people who did - owing to the social protection afforded to "upper-class mages," which her parents did not have. She also almost certainly wouldn't have been taught by the elves, who not only treated her as an animal but also knew her parents may have been involved with ancient magic.
Falin began to show signs of magical talent at 8, and was sent to the Magic Academy at 10, and that was as someone who had absolutely no guidance about or exposure to magic in her home town. Raised by two mage parents, I think Rin absolutely could have been learning some things by the time she was 11.
In terms of continued learning, I'll add that Rin is able to identify Marcille's magic as being A) from an Academy student, and B) cast by an elf:
This makes me think that she continued to study magic on her own while held by the elves, and probably even more so after leaving with Kabru. They didn't form the party until two years after they left the elves, which would give Rin plenty of time to try and learn from other adventurers on the Island, or to study up on her own. She'd probably be able to pick up some dungeon-crawling basics (like the water walk spell), as well as become familiar with the skill level and expression of skill common in different people with different backgrounds (hence why she is able to comment on the "textbook" academy wards).
Much like Marcille, Rin also seems to rely on a 'one size fits all' Big Boom method of dealing with monsters: lightning. We see the best example of its power in the fight with Chimera Falin:
But we also see her cast it pretty recklessly in a few other places, including the end credits of the new anime ED, which I think provides a good example of the downsides to such an approach...
Yeah, it is very much a 'get out of the way or get zapped' spell.
Especially since Marcille's offensive magic is self-taught and works very similarly, this definitely reinforces the idea that Rin figured most of this stuff out herself.
Outfit and Character Design
Dear sweet Rin of the Red And Black... how I love her design.
First of all, her clothes are damaged. Despite the fact that Rin looks relatively well put together overall, her outfit is worn out. I have some theories on why this is that I'll get to in a bit, but for now I'll just touch on what this design communicates in general about it.
I think, just like with Kabru's horribly messy room, it creates a sense that there is something more complicated underneath the surface. Something that isn't being addressed or seen to, just as the dress hasn't been mended or replaced.
It also reflects her not caring a ton about her appearance. She's neat, but she's not concerned about being pretty, so she doesn't bother with fixing up her outfit after her dungeon crawls. This also fits with her perpetual scowl (which I will talk more about in a bit), and slightly disheveled hair.
Next: the gloves. At first I thought they might be a sort of uncomfortable-with-touch thing, but after skimming through the manga and some bonus content, I have another theory. Rin takes the gloves off to eat, as well as a few other instances, such as when working on a spell with Holm and Marcille in chapter 36
This one is especially interesting because she has them on in the next chapter, during the fight with Falin. Since she also isn't wearing gloves during some of the Daydream Hour art of her outside of the dungeon, that leads me to believe that they are specifically for combat.
What does she need them for, though? Most other casters we see don't wear gloves. Well... just look at the other half of the page where she attacks Falin with lightning:
She is enveloped by this spell. I said it before was pretty reckless magic, but maybe its not just a problem for her teammates, but for her as well.
So here's my theory: maybe the gloves are rubber, or some other electricity-resistant material? They might help protect her from her own magic. I don't know why a caster would need gloves for combat otherwise.
I also think this might be why her dress is tattered at the bottom, by the way. Especially since the Daydream Hour genderswap design doesn't have a similar problem with his outfit, since the tunic isn't as long.
I will admit this is a bit of stretch/guess, but I think it's a fun one, and I wanted to share. I do think I'm right about the gloves being for dungeons/fighting specifically, at least. That seems pretty consistent throughout all of her appearances.
I also mentioned her scowl, so I'll touch on that briefly as well. The (fairly confirmed) explanation for Rin's expression is that she intentionally wears a frown to prevent her other expressions from showing through. I think it's important to emphasize that it's not just smiling that she is trying to suppress here - it's any strong emotion:
Anyway, because I can, here is the art of Rin smiling.
Rin and Kabru
I have talked a bit about Rin and Kabru's history, but I think it deserves its own section.
I think it's very interesting that Rin is pretty much the ONLY character in all of Dungeon Meshi that has explicit canonical romantic interesting in someone. It's literally part of the main summary sentence in her character profile.
This could be sort of reductive as a way to describe a female character (and in some ways it still is), but I think in part the simplicity and directness of it actually is part of what makes it so interesting. Especially when on the very next page we see the comic about her backstory. "This mage is in love with Kabru" -> one page of a horribly traumatic event and a child frozen in shock with no one to comfort her. What does that do?
Well, in my opinion, it shows how much Rin focuses on Kabru as something to keep her in the present. In contrast with the immense loss she has experienced, her love for Kabru is current and alive. He has presumably been her anchor for years, and I think that her love is part of that anchor.
Adding to this, in contrast with how explicit her feelings are, she never seems to actively pursue Kabru. She complains about his potential interest in other women, but she doesn't really flirt. She doesn't let herself smile around him any more than anyone else, and she doesn't hide her bitterness or anger from him to present a more appealing persona.
As much as she craves Kabru's attention, and has stayed by his side for years, I don't know that she really wants to possess him. He seems to know about her feelings, more or less, and she seems to know that he knows. Maybe she believes he doesn't reciprocate and is respecting that, maybe she's afraid of what she could lose if she tried to change things, or maybe the change itself frightens her. In any case, though she's not exactly happy with the way things are between them, she doesn't seem to be trying to change that status quo.
A specific thing I'd also like to talk about with their relationship, beyond Rin's love for him, is her fear for him. As the Adventurer's Bible puts it, "she worries that his knack for dealing with whatever life throws at him might lead him to get too full of himself and end up in serious trouble."
Rin is an interesting mix of restrained and explosive, herself. Her magic is destructive, her temper seems to run hot (she gets annoyed easily, at least), and her feelings for Kabru are apparent. At the same time, she doesn't let her emotions show on her face, she is the one who bluntly states that the group has hit the limit of their abilities, and she doesn't act on those obvious feelings for Kabru. It's interesting, then, that what she fears for Kabru is that he won't restrain himself.
And a small personal idea about that as well: I wonder if she somewhat blames her parents for getting killed. Again, this is very speculative, but I think it's interesting that her fear for Kabru is that he will get too full of himself. Take up too much space. It's never really stated what Rin thinks of her parents, but it can be easy in grief to search for control, and control often means blame. If they hadn't been so confident, so flashy, would they still be alive...?
I don't know if she's ever thought like that, and it could well be that her fears for Kabru come from a totally different place. But it's an interesting connective thread between her past and present - the idea of "getting in trouble" for taking up too much space and being too confident in one's own abilities.
Miscellaneous Tidbits:
On that note, I'd like to wrap up the main part of this post, and move on to a few extra things that I couldn't find another place for.
Rin plays with her hair when she's stressed
Using stressed as a pretty big umbrella here, because I think it's hard to perfectly pin down all the emotions at play, but it is a habit of hers. Best displayed in chapter 32, but it shows up in other places, too.
Her design contrasts with Marcille
This is a small thing, but I just love how much they are visual opposites.
Rin wears red and black and has dark hair, Marcille wears blue and white and has light hair. Marcille cares a great deal for her hair and puts it up in elaborate hairstyles, and Rin's is mostly loose and a bit messy. Marcille was even educated at the Magic Academy, which Rin dislikes. They both have little capelets. Also they both look very cute in each other's clothes.
Rin knows Flamela (and they meet again in canon)
Nothing much is done with this in canon, but I think it’s super interesting that Flamela's squad are the ones that find Rin as a child and take her away to the west, and then they end up stuck in the dungeon together for a bit.
Two days??? I'm so very curious what things were like between these three.
Aaaand I think that's all I have to say about Rin! For the time being at least. There's a lot more analysis that could be done about her and Kabru especially, but for this post I wanted to keep things at least somewhat anchored to canon facts, with only a layer or two of speculation on top.
If it isn't already obvious, I think Rin is a super interesting character with a ton of potential depth to explore. She mostly interacts with Kabru in canon, but has ties to a bunch of other characters: she and Marcille fill similar roles in their parties but have differing personalities and histories, she and Falin (and Laios) have been tremendously shaped by xenophobia and fear of magic common in the Northern Continent, her parents fled from conflict in the same region Shuro and his retainers are from, and she has history with Flamela and some of the second canary squad.
Her temper, her fear, her love... her repression and passion - they all inform her character, even in small ways, even with as little time as she spends on the page.

Dating BLLK boys in school! (Part 2)
Featuring:- Hyoma Chigiri, Reo Mikage, Seishiro Nagi (Part 1 here with Yoichi Isagi, Meguru Bachira and Rin Itoshi and here's the masterlist )
A/n: again, don't know where this shit is set. It has their current personalities and they're still in blue lock. Maybe taking a break in off-season and go to school for a change. Idk.
~Hyoma Chigiri~
•Is pretty nonchalant about the whole thing actually he is about most things but gives in easily much to your suprise. he's unpredictable like that.
• To him school was just a place to showcase his talent on a low level before moving on to the bigger stage.
• Kinda really didn't have that many friends, despite being popular as hell because of his looks and talent.
• 'Cause no one really couldn't kept up with his actual sass and sharp personality. Well expect for you now, darling! Don't expect him to admit it though, you'll get only an eye roll out of him.
• But geuninely like there are situations where he has to reject like 5 people at once. 😭 You don't whether to be impressed or annoyed by it.
• Anyway.
• If Chirgiri isn't in class, you can find him in the library. Before you try to fight me, lemme remind it's in the egoist Bible so it's canon.
• He will binge read history novels honestly, and thinks in his free time how it could have been different and stuff. He thinks about the fall of the Roman Empire at least once a day.
• Won't ramble or blabble about it too much to you, but will share random titbits to you about, at the most random times.
• No seriously. At the most random times.
"Ugh trigonometry is the worst-"
"Christianity promotion must have resulted in loss of traditional values of Romans..."
"Huh?"
"You asked to study right?"
"YES. To study maths. Tommorow is the test!"
"...Oh."
• Also he's got a fair amount of complaints from teachers and other coordinators about his long hair. When they speak to him about it, he's judging then SO hard. He does it to almost everyone.
• If you blabble about your classmates stories, he will listen to it, asking questions actively. He actually is pretty interested in the gossipy stuff.
• Can I just rant about how much of a tease he is in denying you affection? Like don't get me wrong, of course Chigiri's gonna have some sort of physical contact like holding hands and stuff in front of other students.
• To show you guys are together and no he's not entertaining any confessions, that's what he tells you to just not get annoying interactions but you both know it's just not that lol
• But when you two do mange to get alone on campus, this guy is a cheeky little bastard. He intentionally leans a bit far than you, just to rile you up and make the first move.
"What? Why are you glaring at me, huh? I didn't do anything you know."
• By the way, this kind of situation doesn't really happen often. Only in school when alone. Still to this day you don't know why he gets like that during that specific time.
• You guessed it's maybe because he rarely can keep his hands off you in private, so this environment keeps him a but grounded and can act all cool. You saw right through it, but that's different story.
• Doesn't care what people think of him, rude, moody, arrogent hell even princess...because like whatever. But won't torelate any negetive comments about you.
• His demeanor doesn't change much, but his glare speaks for itself that the person currently should shut up if they know what's good for them.
• Because, despite all the ups and downs our princess truly loves you and will want the best for you. Amen.
~Mikage Reo~
• I'm guessing you already has a pretty good grasp at what to expect from him, huh?
• We all know, that while on the surface his school life is perfect with good grades, popularity, football...he gets really really bored there.
• But I think as his girlfriend, it's your job to not get him excited. And guess what? You're doing a great job at it!
• This guy is the type, that when in a relationship, you can talk on and on about golf most boring sport ever! and he will listen like it's the most interesting thing ever.
• So yeah... it's not really all that hard for ya to keep him busy lol. Others have a hard time to do so though.
• Though he gave up on studies since blue lock, he figured that it won't hurt to study a bit for a few months to keep up his reputation.
• And to impress you, but shh don't let him know I told ya. But yeah, when talking about studies he's more of a hard work type rather than being a natural. I'm looking at you, Nagi!
• Which is a blessing for you because you can literally just call him over whenever you wanna study. And like ACTUALLY study, he's the best at tutoring, teaching you everything patiently.
• I mean he was the best friend was Nagi. OF COURSE Reo gained a lot of patience from being around that baby.
• Still entertains the fan following he quickly gained at school I mean what did you expect? but not really too much like before.
• Kinda because of still having PTSD from blue lock. You know the the haunting feeling no matter what he does there are things he won't get. Yeah that's what he's afraid of deep down.
• And not just that, also because of you. He knows people can get a too overboard with the fangirling which might make you uncomfortable. So sweet! 😭
• Proudly shows you off as his, and damn he does get a bit of a smug look which is priceless to see. It's a good reminder for him that no matter what happens, you're always his side.
• Which suprisingly makes everyone immediately back off, because like it's just so evident that this guy is just too hooked up on you to even glance at their direction.
• Will actually bribe the school authorities to get you in his class, and will deny any accusations made against him by you about that matter you JUST asked him casually but y'know this guy is dramatic as hell.
• "Why would I do that? You think that I'm the kind of rich person to throw money away just to get my way?"
"I love you Reo but that's exactly what you are."
• Always has an arm around you, suprising you during lunch break, pulling your cheeks even in front of everyone...you're just that cute!
• Is the type to distract you during class, then giggle when you get called out by the teacher for not paying attention. :P
• Don't worry much though, Reo doesn't do it that often, he knows his limits, despite being tempted to do more just to have your attention and your adorable mad face.
• Damnit, you're still just too cute for him to resist having you with him. He truly is blessed.
~Nagi Seishiro~
• Okay so, I think this scenario can go two ways, depending on what time you ask him and what mood he is in.
• 1. Nagi would just say "It's such a hassle" and drop his head on your lap, not wanting to think much but will relent with a bit of convincing because again, he doesn't wanna use his brain much.
• 2. Would just say okay on your first attempt, not seeing any reason to refuse. As you can see, both of these scenarios end up getting him back in school for a few months.
• We all know he's the type to just sleep and play games in class and get scolded by the teacher because of it.
• Lord knows how this guy manages to top every single time because I don't.
• "Hey Seishiro what did you get?"
"..98.."
"I just can't believe it, how do you do it every single time?!"
"I don't believe it either." said the teacher unamused, arranging the papers.
• You also feel lowkey jealous because of it, like can study for hours and hours and still get less than him I don't know about you ma'am but I would have given up a long time ago on academics.
• However, it has it's merits as well. He doesn't study but hangs around you when you do in the library or his apartment and sometimes kind of helps you understand stuff.
• "God this question is so stupid."
"...Hm? It's so easy..."
"Oh really? Why don't you tell me how to do it?"
"... don't convert the tan A into sin A/cosA, because it won't get divided on the final step..."
"Wow it worked, thank you!"
"... don't mention it."
• If you can't find him during lunch, you can find him in teacher's cabin getting scolded or sleeping/playing games on the stairs.
• And in extreme cases, on the water tank of the rooftop how the hell did does he get there?? basically everywhere expect the classroom, eating his lunch, y'know like a normal person in lunch break.
• So it's your duty to drag him to have lunch so to make sure he doesn't die. No I'm not exaggerating, this guy can be starving to death but still be playing call of duty.
• This guy is shameless around you, and the worst part that you can't even say anything about it because it's not his intention to annoy you. He is just is build different.
• Like, he'd just lean over your shoulder as you drag him to class you still won't give him the piggyback ride. Poor boy not really regardless of people giving him and you judgemental stares.
• On the rare days when he's not sleeping in class, he's still not paying any attention to the teacher. Yeah all the teachers hate him.
• Instead his focus is all on you, observing how you are trying your best to pay attention to whatever the hell the teacher's trying to explain, suprisingly intrigued.
• He doesn't know why but, he's not bored while doing even though he's just looking at you . This guy is just attracted to you so damn much.
• And his smol energy level won't allow him to fight that attraction either. However Nagi doesn't dislike that fact. He loves the attraction and you, even if he didn't realise it yet.
A/n: I think the quality is dipped in this one, I kind of rushed it. I apologise for it. (╥﹏╥)

your mer-love fic was so good and ugh i LOVE mermaid au’s (esp with blue lock but theres BARELY any)!!
anyways u should do a pt 2 of your mer-love drabble/fic with rin, sae, kaiser and ness!! i’d love to read it if you do
MER-LOVE, 1.3
mermaid au! bllk boys with a researcher! reader
featuring. rin, sae, kaiser, ness
notes. thank-you for requesting anon! this might be absolute dogwater but hope you enjoy this…a few months after you even asked this (sorryyyy).
mer-love masterlist here !
any interactions with RIN are short and definitely not sweet. if he isn’t being harassed by any other mers that are interested in him, he normally stays around you because you “don’t bother him as much as the others do”. quoted by rin himself; which is considerably high praise coming from the rather aloof merman.
you probably first meet him simply because he got dragged by bachira or the like, but he’s not much of a conversation starter since he just sorta glared at you the whole time. it doesn’t get much better from that point onwards either, you’d think rin believed the world was against him by the way perfectly normal, well-meaning compliments are thrown to the side as if you’re insulting him.
with time though, he’ll start growing more fond of you! how can you tell? unless you’re freakishly talented at guessing people’s real emotions, who knows.
he (kinda) gets cuter in a way? maybe it’s just you being optimistic but you could’ve sworn that he has this look of pride whenever you choose to spend time with him over the other mers. like, of course you don’t want to hang out with weaklings like them or something along those lines. it takes a while but he’s noticeably softer with you than he is with his friends — he actually calls them lukewarm, but that’s just rin for ‘friends’ you think.
“Rin, ya there?”
He stares at you with mild disbelief, which almost makes you burst into a fit of laughter. “Since i’m very clearly here next to you, I think the answer’s quite obvious.”
You nod, grinning. “Thought you’d say that but anyways,” you say whilst reaching into a bag, “I wanted to give you a present! Take it as a token of my gratitude for you chatting with me.”
He eyes the object you give him coldly, but takes it anyway with a ghost of a smile on his face. How adorable.
SAE is someone very hard to come by, and even harder to start conversation with that don’t end in him just swimming away from you. if you thought talking to rin was like talking to a brick wall, just wait till you meet this guy.
he’s seemingly apathetic to anything and everything, incredibly blunt, and overall not a very nice guy. at least his lil brother doesn’t outright ignore you (he does call you an NPC and half baked though)! speaking of which, if you meet rin first you can definitely see the resemblance between the two. appearance is a main one, you would know those under-lashes from anywhere and now you definitely know where he gets the attitude from.
any signs of him ‘warming up’ to you are basically non existent. he’s as straightforward as ever and isn’t keen on the idea of suddenly being all over you like humans normally seem to do with the people they like.
to give credit where credit is due, he tries? even though he’s still a bit brutal with his delivery, you think he tries to avoid being so aggressive with his tone. he’s not exactly sugarcoating things, but simply not saying what’s on his mind as much as he used to. that whole spiel about if you’ve got nothing nice to say, don’t say anything, right? and besides, just him tolerating your presence should be enough for you to understand he’s trying to be nice (it really isn’t).
Sae has a talent for ruining any positive conversations with his honesty, the aftermath typically being him leaving the person or awkward silence ensues. To give credit where credit is due however, you also think he’s got a talent for somehow making people feel better.
He doesn’t sugarcoat things and while it can be harsh, it also means that compliments from him are genuine.
He listens to you rambling on about some annoying incidents at work, making the effort to nod every once in a while to remind you that he’s paying attention. “Sounds like something you can deal with yourself. There’s no reason to worry yourself about it, that’s a waste of your time.”
amidst a certain merman’s grumbling of someone called ‘KAISER’, you gain snippets of info that paint a less-than-flattering picture of the merman. he sounds like a major jerk. yet, despite his (isagi’s) colourful descriptions shall we say, you can't help but wonder if this kaiser fellow’s supposed villainy is just an exaggeration. but then again, to evoke such hatred from the usually amiable merman, he must be quite the character.
your first encounter with him is unremarkable, only seeing him as another mermaid who decided to show their face and you as some random human.
his curiosity is piqued however when he notices how fond the other merfolk are of you, and in typical kaiser fashion he’s determined to outshine everyone else. from your perspective, he’s just a weird dude. it’s as if he expects you to be grateful for his attention, even though it’s clear that he’s the one vying for your approval.
it’d be somewhat cute if it were anybody else, you think..? on him, it’s aggravating.
and yet, the more you pull away, the more determined he seems to become to disrupt any semblance of peace you have. he appears so often that you’ve grown to actually tolerate his presence and it even amuses you sometimes if the day is particularly boring. kaiser finds you just…okay (liar). he means- you’re nothing special so don’t get ahead of yourself but like, if YOU wanted to, he wouldn’t mind being with you until nightfall.
also don’t mention the sheer disgust and almost betrayal on his face whenever he sees one of your total losers of a colleague on watch duty instead of you. even worse if they’re partnered with you.
Judging by the very obvious glare Kaiser has on his face, you would say that he’s not too pleased with the sight of you and (coworker) together. Still, he could at least try be more discreet about it. You sigh as your companion only spares you a sympathetic look.
What’s annoying is that Kaiser occasionally glances in your direction — of course, whilst still glaring daggers at (coworker). Like he wants you to do something about them tagging along.
Having enough of it, you say, “Kaiser, you’re embarrassing me over here and yourself.” He pauses for a moment before simply turning around, probably sulking over the fact that you do indeed have relationships with other people that don’t involve him. That, or he’s embarrassed he got called out.
you’ll naturally come across NESS if you’ve already met kaiser and at first, you simply took him for the more timid type which could be the reason why he follows the former around like a lost puppy. wrong. not in the slightest.
well that’s a little harsh, but you mean that while he definitely has a bashful quality to him, he also seems to flip completely if you dare make a comment about kaiser. it’s a little scary. in spite of his dedication shall we call it, he’s actually one of the easiest mers to get along with. talk to him normally, avoid the topic of kaiser too often, spare some affection for him and he’s all over you soon enough!
just being generally nice around him is something he’ll appreciate it even if he doesn’t say it outright. poor thing is a little unfamiliar with people showing him basic human (or in this case merfolk) decency. makes you want to pat him on the head and spoil him a bit/squish him until he breaks — depending on what type of person you are, i guess.
when he gets more comfortable with you, ness is also clingy. like, really clingy. practically chasing after the other mers if they dare come within 10ft of you kind of clingy. it’s one of those rare moments where you appreciate the fact that kaiser is there since ness is still able to be reasoned if he’s there with him. sounds a little toxic at first but just set him straight and be patient with him. the end result is (hopefully) a slightly more relaxed version of him.
“…You alright, Ness?” you ask hesitantly. The merman in question is suspiciously quiet, especially after he just got into a mini spat with someone else.
Now, he looks up at you as if you’re a saint which weirds you out even more. He nods his head, before asking, “Are you worried about me?”
You’d think it was intended to be a snide comment, if it weren’t for the fact that you were dealing with Ness here. Besides, he says it so sincerely that you’d feel bad for poking fun at him. Maybe later though. “Of course.”
It seems to light up his whole world.

confessions - suna rintarou
about: DEFINITELY ooc but we don’t talk about that 😙 just you nd ur bsf sunarin catching up as per usual with tea to spill from the past 😝 we love to see it!
a/n: i wrote this awhile ago actually🫣 im fully done w finals………. idk what to think im so scared for the future. also trying diff formats and will actually work on my navi post during the summer so bare w me lol. anyways thank u for all the love on my last post mwahhh <3
“you know i used to have a crush on you?” you say, in between bites of your food.
you and your childhood best friend, suna rintarou, are at your promised monthly hangout, which ended up only being every couple months because your universities were far away from each other, so you both settled to meet up whenever your breaks overlapped. but it didn’t matter to you either way because you texted each other almost every other day. whether it was a tiktok link or an 8 ball.
“you used to what?” he replies, mouth agape as he sets his chopsticks down.
“i mean, it wasn’t a huge crush,” you say, … “maybe i was gaslighting myself but we were really close back then y’know?”
“oh? why didn’t you ask me out then?”
“mmm not sure. i guess..” you think about it. it was probably because starting high school, girls were all over him. it was also probably because those same girls would come up to you. passive aggressively ask if you were his girlfriend. you’d reply with a lighthearted laugh, “noo! we’re just close friends. he’s all yours if you want him.” maybe it was because he wouldn’t reciprocate any of the interest and love he received. he always replied, saying something along the lines of ‘oh i’m focusing on school” or just a simple, “i’m not interested”
it was mostly though, because you thought he’d reject you if you initiated something. and not wanting to ruin the relationship you had already built throughout the years, you suppress your feelings.
“you guess?”
“fear of rejection?” you laugh nervously.
“you think i would’ve rejected you?” he asks. he tilts his head, raising his eyebrows, giving you a look as if you were supposed to know.
“you had no interest for anyone so… i mean. i-” you stammer. fuck, why did i even bring this up?!
“well, believe it or not, i too, had a crush on my bestfriend.”
and just like that, you almost spit out your drink. “sorry, you- you liked me?”
“and that’s so surprising because?” he questions.
he really cannot wrap his head around this, huh. “you turned everyone and their mother down? mr. i’m too focused on school and i’m not interested? i could only assume that i was not wanted.”
“but did i ever directly say that to you?”
“no, but you wouldn’t need to. i listened when you rejected their advances, i can take a hint y’know.”
he sighed. “if you had asked me out back then, my answer would be different.”
“really?” you ask.
“really.”
you raise your eyebrows as you sip your drink.
“don’t believe me? you can try me now.” he smirks, flashing the smile you had fallen for back then, and you almost fold right then and there. though despite his confident demeanor, the slight rosy tint on his cheeks gives his nervousness away.
“oh? it’s almost as if you want me to ask you out.”
he playfully rolls his eyes. “okay, so maybe i do, but only if you want to..”
you do your best to suppress a smile as your cheeks turn into the same rosy color.
“here goes. ahem.. i uh-” your mind goes blank.
“wait so.. how do you ask someone out?”
“well, i’ve never asked someone out before because they always ask me” he winks.
you playfully roll your eyes.
“don’t overthink it. it’s just me right?”
you almost forgot. it’s just rin. the same rin who’s always there for you. but this is different.
“right.. i say this in almost all your birthday cards but you’re truly my rock in life, and i reaally want to be yours, and maybe more so.. may i be your girlfriend, suna rintarou?”
“well, if you insist i guess,” he shrugs.
“wooooww.. i see how it is” you say, crossing your arms teasingly.
“r-rin..” he catches you off-guard as he takes your hand in his.
“yeess?” he grins.
you remove your hands, immediately missing the warmth from his hands.
“first date jitters?” he chuckles.
“this is our first date?”
“technically, i guess, but-“
“no way this is our official first date. i’m wearing sweats!” you exclaim, looking down at what you’re wearing.
“i don’t see an issue, you always look pretty in anything you wear.”
“th- thanks,” you blurt out. well that’s new.
but it’s something you could deeefinitely get used to.

Caught in the web – 12, gentle
masterlist
Y/n feels the mattress sink as Suna sits next to her on the side of his bed. She’s sitting with her feet on the ground, her leg moving up and down nervously as she holds a white dessert box in her lap. The box is a bit damaged around the edges because of the time spent in her backpack.
‘Is that for me? What is it?’ Suna asks, and the girl almost flinches at the sound of his voice.
She nods, ‘It’s the fruit sando that Samu helped me make,’ she sighs, ‘I’m scared they won’t look so nice now,’ she says hopelessly.
‘Well,’ the boy gently takes the box from Y/n’s fingers, ‘I’m sure they still taste really good,’ — Y/n smiles softly — ‘Can I try one?’ He asks.
She nods again, motioning him to go on. As Suna opens the box and takes a look inside (the sandwiches inside are a bit smushed together but he thinks they look fine), Y/n takes off her mask and holds it next to her, fidgeting it in her hand as she waits for Suna’s evaluation. But Suna’s attention isn’t on the dessert anymore, Y/n’s face being way more interesting than those.
‘What?’ Y/n asks.
‘Your lip,’ Suna’s hand moves towards to the girl’s face,‘It’s broken,’ he holds her chin and tilts her head to take a better look, ‘There’s blood, too.’
‘I’m okay,’ Y/n grabs his hand and pulls it down on the bed, holding it a few seconds more than needed, ‘It’ll be gone in about an hour–’
‘Let me clean it up?’
‘It’s fine, really,’ the girl wipes herself with the back of her hand, ‘Just try the sandwich, I want to know if you like it.’
Suna sighs then brings the dessert to his mouth as Y/n waits with anticipation. His eyes grow slightly bigger with the first bite, then he quickly takes another, ‘These are so good, Y/n,’ he manages to say with his mouth full.
‘That’s gross, Rin,’ she says but getting betrayed by the fond look in her eyes and the smile that she can’t hide growing.
‘Shut up,’ he says in between bites, ‘And stop laughing.’
‘You’ve got cream on your nose,’ Y/n giggles, ‘Here,’ she says lending him a tissue.
The sight of Suna enjoying what she made for him calms her heart, she likes being with him, she likes when he’s happy, she likes when she laughs with him. Her legs stopped moving nervously and she didn’t even notice.
‘I like you too,’ she says out of the blue — Suna almost chokes on his last bite and he looks at her in search of something that will help him understand if she’s serious or not — ‘That’s why I asked Samu to teach me how to cook, I wanted to make something for you.’
‘Oh,’ Suna looks down at his now empty hands, ‘I was so stupid,’ he says, recalling the way he acted earlier that day.
Y/n chuckles, ‘You were, a little.’
Suna scoffs, ‘Whatever,’ he locks eyes with her, ‘Can I kiss you now?’
Y/n gets taken aback by his sudden confidence and her leg is moving again, ‘I think you might have to wait half an hour,’ she says pointing at her broken lip.
Suna shrugs and moves closer, ‘I’ll be gentle,’ he holds her jaw as his other hands found its place on her thigh, stopping her leg from moving, ‘I promise.’

── WILLOW TREE
Synopsis: Years after you leave Japan, Rin Itoshi finally wins the World Cup. As he promised he would, he comes to find you afterwards. (part one here!)
BLLK Masterlist
Pairing: Rin x Reader
Chapter Word Count: 4.1k
Content Warnings: rin is lowkey nice and therefore ooc because he’s implied to have matured (considering he’s like in his twenties atp), one reference to another fic of mine, almost as cheesy as part one, reader and her bff have to interact w a misogynist, nagi and barou mentions because they are my goats
A/N: @why2277 requested a part two for cherry tree so yk i had to deliver!! hehe this isn’t super romantic or anything because it’s rin and he’s allergic to emotions lowkey but i hope it’s fun anyways 🥹
Additional: check my pinned post to make sure i have requests open; after reading the rules, please feel free to make your own!
From the window of the apartment you were renting for your final year of university, you could see a weeping willow tree. It was lovely and old, its leaves swaying in the slightest wind, and in the sunlight, it was too benevolent to be anything but ethereal. During the warmer months, you used to spread out a blanket in the grass beneath its shade and work on your homework, but now that there was a chill creeping into the air, you could only gaze longingly at it whenever you passed and imagine what it would be like in spring, when the temperature outside was once again tolerable.
Sometimes, on particularly stormy nights, the shapes of the leaves would coalesce into something resembling a man or monster. In those times, you would wish there was a room you could run to, albeit not out of any fear — you weren’t as easy to frighten as you had once been. It was nostalgia, horrible and sickening, which made your stomach turn and your heart palpitate, longing for a particular bed, a familiar embrace, though both were on the other side of the world and had been far out of your reach for years upon years now.
“Jeez,” your best friend said as the two of you elbowed your way into getting seats at the bar. Her university’s break had started earlier than yours, so instead of going directly to your hometown, she had come to visit you first, and of course in celebration of your reunion, you both had decided to visit the most popular bar in the area. “What’s going on? Hey, dude, what’s everyone watching?”
The man she was talking about spun around in surprise, his eyes enormous at her question, like he found it impossible that she was asking such a thing. She scowled at him, waiting for him to answer; when he realized she was being serious, he scoffed.
“It’s the World Cup final,” he said, before adding, under his breath, “Fucking girls.”
“The World Cup?” you said, your interest piqued despite his less than savory addition. “Who’s playing?”
Your best friend gave you a surprised look. “Since when have you cared about soccer?”
The man gave you a measured look, his face still pinched with distaste, and then he shrugged. “Japan and Germany. Craziest shit I’ve seen in a while. Never thought the Japanese team would get so far, but they’re goddamn monsters. Germany’s in the lead for the moment, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Japan turns it around and makes a comeback victory.“
“I see,” you said, craning your neck so you could see the small TV in the corner. Your best friend nudged you in the side, and when you glanced at her out of the corner of your eye, her brow was furrowed in confusion.
“What’s the big deal?” she said. “I didn’t realize you were into sports.”
“I’m not,” you said. “I was just reminded of something when he mentioned the World Cup, that’s all.”
You wondered if he was playing, and if so, whether he, too, remembered that half-awake promise he had made you. You wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t. If you were any smarter, any less stubborn, you would’ve forgotten as well.
“Holy fucking shit!” the man shouted as the screen flashed in celebration of a goal.
“What?” your best friend said, enthralled, though her expression soured every time she glanced at the rude man, who the two of you were sadly dependent on for explanations.
“That was such a clean shot,” he said, eyes sparkling. “Rin Itoshi…he’s an amazing player. True, sometimes people forget that, because half of his teammates are the biggest peacocks known to mankind and hog all of the attention with their showboating, but I’d take him over Seishiro Nagi or Shoei Barou any day. Maybe he doesn’t have that flair or power, but he’s technically perfect, and that’s something none of the others can claim — not even that genius playmaker, Isagi!”
You didn’t know enough about soccer or the Japanese team to have an opinion on the rest of his claims, but you did know about Rin Itoshi, so you smiled softly and nodded. “Yeah, Rin’s pretty cool.”
Your best friend, who had finally caught up to what you were talking about, snickered. “That’s not what you used to say. I recall you hating him quite a bit.”
The man fully spun around in his barstool, glaring at you with his arms folded over his chest, his left hand gripping a beer. “On what grounds could one possibly hate Rin Itoshi? Name any player, and I’ll explain why he’s clear of them. Seriously, aren’t females supposed to like Rin? For his looks and all?”
You and your best friend exchanged glances before slowly inching away. There was no point in entertaining the man further; he was just inclined to see the worst in you two no matter what, and you would probably be better off trying to find another bar or just heading to your house for the night.
“Ah, I don’t really know any other players,” you admitted, grabbing your purse and slinging it on your shoulder. “I just happened to live with the Itoshis for a while during my first year of college.”
“What?” the man shrieked, though thankfully the music and chattering was so loud that only a couple of heads turned. “You lived in a house with Rin Itoshi?”
“Uh…” you trailed off, looking around and spotting the door at the same time as your best friend. Without even a signal, both of you took off for the exit at once, leaving the now-sputtering man behind and not slowing down until you were well down the street.
“I hate guys like that,” your best friend gasped out, leaning against the wall of a bagel shop, which was closed due to the late hour. “What a jerk.”
“Honestly,” you agreed. “At least he was kind of helpful, even if he did repeatedly insult our gender and treat us like children.”
“Yeah,” she said. “Rin Itoshi, huh? That’s a name I haven’t heard in a while. Feeling nostalgic?”
“A bit,” you said. “I told you he had a crush on me, didn’t I? Or at least, I think he did. I’m not sure if he realized it himself.”
“Yup, I remember. It explained a lot more of his actions than it really should’ve,” she said.
“Well, the truth is that the night I asked him about his feelings, he told me he didn’t have a crush on me or anything, but that after he retired from soccer for good, things might be different,” you said. This was something you hadn’t told anyone, not even her. For some reason, there had been a seriousness to the way he spoke, and at the time it had felt like a betrayal to share it with another person. Then, when you had moved back home at the end of the semester and the two of you had stopped speaking entirely, it had faded from the forefront of your mind, locked away alongside the rest of your memories from those strange few months.
“No way,” she said with a chuckle. “Did he think you’d wait for that long? Soccer players don’t retire until they’re in their thirties, right? That’s a long time to expect someone to keep you in their mind.”
“I told him as much, but as you know, I was apparently a huge distraction to his soccer career, so he couldn’t have me ruining that or whatever. Anyways, uh, he promised that once he won the World Cup, he’d come and find me,” you said. “So. I was just reminiscing a bit over that, I guess.”
“Do you think he will?” she said. You shook your head.
“Of course not,” you said. “He’s famous now. I mean, random men in bars praise him, so he must be a celebrity, right? There’s a lot of girls he could have, and anyways, I myself wouldn’t have even thought of it if that guy hadn’t brought him and the World Cup up. Why would it be any different for Rin?”
“That’s fair,” your best friend said. “Fame changes people.”
“Right,” you said. “It’s just a cool story that I can tell at parties now. Like, did you know that famous footballer Rin Itoshi once told me I was the most annoying person he had ever met? I bet it’ll be a real winner.”
“Fascinating tale,” she said.
“Thanks,” you said. “Like I said, it’ll be popular with the crowds for sure. Ah, provided that they believe me, of course.”
“That’s true,” she said, snorting in amusement. “It does kinda sound like you’re making it up. You were too busy arguing with him constantly, too, so you never even took any photos with him.”
“I know,” you said. “Oh, well. They can believe me or not. It did happen, so who cares what anyone else thinks?”
“Very mature,” your best friend said with a nod. “Moving on, what should we do next? That bar’s kinda out of the question.”
“Technically, I do still have class tomorrow,” you reminded her. “So maybe sleeping is a good idea?”
“Ugh, I forgot about that,” she said, wrinkling her nose. “Sorry. Yeah, let’s get back. We can do more stuff once we’re home and off for the week.”
“Sounds good to me,” you said. “It looks like it’s going to rain soon, anyways, so that’s probably for the best.”
You were right — almost as soon as you entered your apartment, the earlier breezes turned to gales, and one of those storms which was not quite wintry but gray and gloomy regardless churned into existence. You and your best friend were quick to get ready, both surprisingly exhausted, and then she made herself comfortable on your couch while you settled in your bed, pulling the blankets up over your shoulders and staring out of your window, watching the bare branches of the willow thrash about desperately, like they were searching for something that they could never have.
The break was short but relaxing, and before you knew it, you were back at your apartment in school, although you didn’t have your best friend’s company this time. You settled back into your typical routine, and within a few days, your life was once again mundane and usual. Any thoughts of the past or of excitement vanished in the haze of working and studying, and indeed it sometimes felt like you were more of a zombie trudging through life until the winter next became alive instead of dull.
Two weeks after you returned to university, you were walking home in the evening after a study group meeting in the library, humming to yourself and texting one of your friends about a homework assignment, when you became acutely aware of footsteps mirroring your own. You tested it out, first slowing and then speeding up your pace, but no matter what you did, they matched you so eerily that you became genuinely worried.
Swallowing, you sped up again, hoping you could, in some way, outrun this pursuer which you had picked up. When the pat-pat of sneakers on concrete behind you sped up as well, you gasped and then broke into a run. This wasn’t just the beginning of every horror movie but also of many true-crime documentaries. A girl. A dark evening. A mysterious stalker. Were you going to be murdered or something?
“You’re painfully slow,” your would-be assailant said, keeping up with your full sprint and not even sounding winded. “Anyways, why are we running? Did you take up jogging once you left Japan or something?”
You skidded to a stop, turning to see a familiar figure a few steps behind you. When he noticed you had stopped, he did as well, and though he tried to fight it, a tiny smile threatened to bloom on his face when he noticed your awed expression.
He was wearing a pair of loose joggers and an oversized sweatshirt, which wasn’t his typical sense of style but suited him, as everything did; additionally, despite the late hour, there was a pair of sunglasses pushed up into his hair, which shone in the light of the street lamp you both stood under. His hands were shoved in his pockets, though he raised his right to wave at you shyly, the bridge of his nose and the apples of his cheeks pink — whether from the biting cold or something else, you could not tell.
“Rin?” you said. He nodded. “Rin, what are you—?”
You broke off in disbelief, unable to even move. In your wildest dreams, when you pictured reuniting with him, you had imagined something more romantic. Perhaps one of you would pick the other up from the airport, and you’d dash towards him and leap into his arms and he’d spin you about and — well, now that you thought about it more, that was a little unrealistic. Rin had never been that kind of person. The distance between you two had made your heart grow fonder, and time had formed a rosy film over your memories, but Rin as you had truly known him had always been standoffish and awkward.
“We won the World Cup,” he said. “No. I won it.”
“Yes,” you said. “Yes, I — I saw you score.”
His stare was arresting, his eyes the same brilliant shade as a writhing sea, framed by dark lashes which fluttered as nervously as a wasp’s wings. For a second, you thought he must be waiting for you to say something else, but you dismissed the thought in turn. What else would you even say?
After a second, he exhaled, his breath forming crystals in the air. “Yeah. Well, uh, I’m sure you’ve forgotten by now, but I told you, didn’t I? That once I won the World Cup, I’d find you?”
“I didn’t forget,” you said, swallowing. “I thought you might’ve, though.”
“I wouldn’t,” he said. “I’m mad at you, so of course I needed to see you again.”
“Mad at me?” you said.
“Yes,” he said. “I was so sure it would be better once you left, but it got worse. I thought of you even more. It was awful.”
“Didn’t seem to impact your soccer career any,” you pointed out.
“Maybe it did. Maybe I’d be even better if it weren’t for you,” he said. You waited for him to laugh. He didn’t, but there was mirth shimmering in his irises, which was close enough, so you allowed yourself to shake your head in amusement.
“I guess we’ll never know,” you said.
“Guess not,” he said.
“How did you even do it?” you said. “Find me, I mean.”
“I knew which university you went to,” he said.
“That’s it?” you said. “It’s not like this is a small school.”
“Believe me, I know,” he said. “I’ve been here since last Thursday.”
“Seriously?” you said.
“Seriously,” he affirmed. “I’ve been spending every day on campus looking for you. It took me a while, but I didn’t want to give up until I saw you again.”
“You did all of that and nobody recognized you?” you said.
“One of my teammates hates the media so much that he’s perfected the art of disguising himself in public. I figured that if it works for him, despite him being built like a white-haired telephone pole, it would probably do fine for my purposes,” he said.
“I see,” you said. “I guess that’s what’s the deal with the clothes.”
“Exactly,” he said.
“Well,” you said. “I don’t…I mean, I don’t really know what to say. I never thought I’d actually see you again, so this is kind of a lot. I’m sorry.”
“Did you want to?” he said.
“Huh?” you said.
“Did you want to see me again?” he said, pressing his lips into a thin line. “Did you ever think about me?”
“Let’s walk back to my apartment,” you said instead of answering the question. “I want to show you something.”
“Okay,” he said, walking at your side obligingly, though he kept a careful distance between you both. You did not try to close it, not yet. It didn’t feel right.
“By the way, why did you follow me like a creep?” you said as you changed course towards your apartment complex. “You should’ve just said hi like a normal person instead of scaring me.”
He shrugged. “I’m not sure. I just didn’t want to say anything.”
“Didn’t want to?” you said.
“Couldn’t,” he amended. “I didn’t realize how hard it would be until I saw you again. I had so many things I needed to tell you, and as soon as you were in front of me, I forgot them all.”
“That’s a shame,” you said. “If you remember any, let me know.”
He mulled this over for a moment before clearing his throat. “My brother’s getting married soon.”
“Really? How exciting,” you said. You had never met Sae Itoshi, so the news didn’t strike you one way or another, but you were just glad to hear Rin’s voice again, so you would’ve listened to him talking about anything and been happy about it.
“Yeah, it’s this girl he met while they were both on vacation by the beach in Spain,” he said. “She accidentally tackled him while trying to get her sandwich back from a seagull.”
“That’s a fun story,” you said. “Imagine your kids ask you how you met their mother and you get to tell them that.”
“There’s more to it, surprisingly,” he said. “But anyways, yeah, she’s nice. I don’t mind her that much.”
“Given that she’s going to be a part of your family, it’s good that you get along with her,” you said.
“Mhm,” he said. “Can you come?”
“To the wedding? Er, I don’t think I’m invited,” you said.
“I’m inviting you,” he said, his throat bobbing as he averted his gaze. “I want you to come. With me.”
“Oh,” you said. His eyes widened slightly.
“Am I — are you — um, Y/N. You don’t have a boyfriend or anything, right?” he said.
The two of you had reached the willow tree. You paused, gazing up at it. The branches no longer had their leaves, and it seemed more depressing and spindly instead of lush and inviting, as it did in the summer months. Rin stopped next to you, and you shifted so that there was only a hair’s breadth between your arm and his.
“When it rains really hard, this tree looks like a creature from one of those horror movies you used to watch,” you said. “It doesn’t scare me, not hardly, but I always wish I could run to you anyways. I guess there’s your answer. Every time there was a storm, I thought of you. Every time I saw this tree, I thought of you. Every time someone mentioned owls or soccer or scary films, I thought of you. So, yes. Sometimes, occasionally — or perhaps frequently, depending on how you see it — I did think of you. I did want to see you again.”
“What about the second question?” he said.
“A lot of people have tried,” you said. “Guys have asked me out. Friends have set me up and convinced me to go on blind dates. It never really works out, though. In the back of my mind, I’ve always been waiting for someone else. For a major jerk, in fact. The biggest jerk on the planet. Everyone probably thinks I’m crazy. It’s a ridiculous thing to say aloud, and even more ridiculous to actually do it, but here I am.”
“How long will you keep waiting for him?” he said.
“A while,” you said. “At least until I can meet someone as annoying as he is. I’ve been bored without him, and I don’t take well to boredom.”
Rin’s features were settled in a contemplative mask, his brows drawn together and his head tilted slightly. It was your chance to watch him; you had nothing more to say, so you opted for silence. Things like confessions and feelings weren’t really your style, nor were they his, but you hoped that he would understand what you had meant regardless. Just this once. Even if he never did again, this once, you wanted him to understand you.
“Thank you,” he said, and then: “I’m sorry.”
“Sorry for what?” you said.
“For making you wait. For letting you be bored,” he said. “Although it’s not my fault. I could’ve won the World Cup the year you left if it had happened then, and then we would’ve met again way sooner.”
“It’s okay. Listen, Rin, I want to — no, I have to ask you something,” you said, and then you took a deep breath to steady yourself. “Come summer, will I still be able to see you? Can I show you this tree once it has its leaves, or is this the last time?”
The last time. Was this reunion like a fleeting dream? Would it be better or worse when you were split apart from him anew? How much longer could you bear to keep waiting for him? You had no idea, but it seemed impossible, the thought of being apart from him once more.
“If you come home with me, you can always see me,” he said. “There’s another tree there. One that you’ll remember. Is that close enough?”
“What about my job and my life here?” you said, taken aback at the bold offer, which felt a little out of the blue, although maybe it shouldn’t have. “I’ll graduate this year, and then I’ll start working. How can I leave all of that behind?”
“You don’t have to leave it behind forever. Not if you don’t want to,” he said. “I’d never make you do that. But Sae’s — the wedding, it’s in the spring. The cherry tree will have flowers then. I can show it to you. You never saw it like that, I don’t think, but you’ll like it. I’m sure you will.”
A ghostly wind whistled through the willow tree’s branches, and the street lamp illuminating Rin’s face flickered. Part of you had never really believed you’d look upon that face again, no matter how much you had wanted to. His features were different from the last time you had seen him, a little sharper, more weathered, the once-permanent scowl replaced with a blank, neutral expression as he waited for you to respond, but it was still his face before you.
“It’ll be warm there, won’t it?” you said. “I’m always cold here.”
“Yeah,” he said. “It’ll be warm. Are you cold right now?”
You nodded. He made to shrug off his sweatshirt, but you shook your head, catching his arm and then placing it around your shoulders. He cocked his head at you, and then, all at once, recognition flashed in his eyes. Wrapping the other arm around you of his own volition, he pulled you into his chest carefully, unsurely, his heart pounding — you knew because you could hear it, could feel it, the way it beat against his sternum like a battle-cry.
“I miss it,” you said. “I was only there for one semester, but I still miss it.”
It, or him? Maybe both. Definitely both.
“You don’t have to anymore,” he said. You wondered if he meant his home, which in a way was also your home, or if he was talking about himself. “It’s yours. It’ll always be yours. Our roles are reversed now, I guess.”
“Reversed?” you said. You must’ve sounded like an idiot or an echo, dumbly repeating everything he said without comprehension.
“I’ll be the one waiting,” he said. “And if you want…you can come and find me. I won’t make it hard. I’ll be where I always have been.”
“Do you think you can wait as long as I did?” you said.
“If I have to,” he said. “Will you make me?”
“No,” you said. “No, I won’t. You only have to wait until the spring. Then I’ll be there, and I don’t think — to tell you the truth, I don’t think I’ll be able to leave once I am.”
“Is it wrong if I say good?” he said.
“Maybe,” you said. His body was likely akin to a furnace or something, you thought, for curiously, in his embrace, you no longer felt frigid, though it had only gotten cooler and cooler out. “But even if it is, I won’t be the one to judge you for it.”
“Good,” he muttered breathlessly. “Good.”
You smiled broadly this time, broadly and fully, though he couldn’t see you do it — or maybe it was because of that fact that you could beam like this, as brightly as if you had won the lottery. Then again, you supposed that to you if no one else, you had. After all, somehow, despite all odds, Rin had found you again, and this time, he wouldn’t leave. Never again would he leave, not entirely, and if he did ever go, it would only be to a place where he could wait for you longer.
“Yes,” you said. “Yes, Rin. It’s good.”

Snow...
Feat. rin itoshi Tags. fluff cw. none, i think (if there are any, please let me know) note! please read! i have run-on sentences.. also this is not at all proof read so any grammar mistakes, just ignore them or let me know
As soon as you spotted a flake of snow from the sky, you jumped up from the couch, running towards Rin’s room to drag him outside. There were so many things you could do with snow, you could make snowmen, snow angels, but most importantly, you could skate. Well it wasn’t really because of the snow that you could skate, but that meant that the temperature was cold enough outside that you could do outdoor skating with your boyfriend. It was fun skating outside, the soft feeling of snow against your skin made you feel calm so now, you wanted to share this experience with Rin!
You burst open his room door to be met with the sight of the ravenette reading a book.
“Rin!! Rin! Let’s go out!” “Where?” “To an ice rink or something!” From Rin’s point of view, you practically looked like you were bursting with energy, hoping that he would agree to your suggestion of going to an ice rink. It wasn’t like he could refuse you anyway.
“...Fine” “Okay then! Um… where should we go?”
It was clear that you didn’t even search any rinks at all that you could skate on outside so Rin simply gave you a deadpanned face then pulled out his computer with you hovering over his shoulder. He searched just simply, ‘ice rink’ but you quickly intercepted the keyboard and added the word ‘outdoor’ since in this weather, if you weren’t taking advantage of it, you’d definitely be missing out. After you added the word, you clicked enter and up popped multiple locations.
Your eyes turned to the first location you saw so then Rin checked it and it was quite a nice ice rink, so off the two of you went, packing your skates in a pack then hopping into the car to drive to the rink you selected.
⋆꙳•̩̩͙❅*̩̩͙‧͙ ‧͙*̩̩͙❆ ͙͛ ˚₊⋆
You let out a little excited squeal when you got out of the car, feeling the small gusts of wind blow you over, you shuddered a little before rushing towards the benches to put on your skates, dragging Rin with you along the way. Your boots slid along the snowy floor, almost losing their grip along the way making you trip and slip slightly before you regained your balance and continued running towards the benches at a steady pace.
Once you finally reached the benches, you plopped onto the wooden bench along with your bags while Rin just calmly sat down. In front of you was the small ice rink, surrounded by large pine trees with a nice aesthetic and energy. A comfortable area to skate. You grabbed both your skates and Rin’s from the bag you were carrying earlier. You took off your skate’s soft guards, slipped your foot in and tied them into a little butterfly knot.
You stood up, doing a little spin with your puffy jacket then Rin stood up, skates completely tied so you walked beside him, stepping onto the ice. At first it was a little slippery for the both of you, but Rin being a soccer player naturally had a better sense of balance than you did so as you were waddling through the ice, he stayed behind you making sure that you didn’t fall backwards.
After a while of you trying your best to get balanced, your effort finally payed off and it worked. Your eyes lit up seeing that you were no longer wobbling around so you turned around to face your boyfriend, hands behind your back and smile on your face. You gestured for him to glide beside you and who was he to deny you? With Rin now positioned beside you, you grabbed one of his arms, head resting against his shoulders.
“Hey, Rin…” It was one of your… interesting questions again, wasn’t it.
“Would you still love me if i was a worm?” " Of course." A simple and straightforward answer, something expected of Rin but it was a good answer. At least one that you couldn't complain about but your mind didn't stay on the question for long as it soon wandered elsewhere. You stared at some children who smoothly glided past the two of you. You stretched out a hand pointing in the direction of those children, hand slightly moving around to follow their movements.
"Do you think we could do that?" You said, still staring at the people skating who were obviously much more advanced in skating than you. Rin glanced at you, blinking. He seemed to think a bit before providing an answer. "Sure." You suddenly let go of his arm to hold his hand then slid to an empty surface of ice in front of him, starting to attempt gliding around. But then suddenly, you lost balance then belly flopped.
You continued sitting there just staring around until Rin decided to extend a hand towards you. You didn't take it though. He didn't want you sitting around on the cold ice so he lifted you up, careful not to let your skate blades hit anyone or anything. You held onto his neck until you started speaking up again.
"Rinnie, do you think that the egg came first or the chicken came first?" You started rambling. "I think that the chicken came first because... fried chicken tastes good..."
Oh. Not again.

thinking about modern au Kabru
ivy league college student, probably studying law and political science on a full scholarship. first time living away from Milsiril so he has to promise her, yes mom i’ll call you at least four times a week, no mom i don’t need your amex black card, yes mom the normal credit card is fine i need to learn how to budget like a Normal Person (it has a limit of $20k — that’s not normal Kabru).
Milsiril insists for a long time that she’ll just get him a house off campus so he can have his own space (aka a place she can drop by anytime and possibly live a few months out of the year just to be close to him) but Kabru puts his foot down and tells her the best way he’s gonna make friends is by living with other students (bye mom).
his floor in the coed dorms is the party floor and he always makes sure to invite everybody (his nightmare is accidentally leaving anyone out and having them think that he doesn’t like them). somehow it’s always a good time, everyone leaves with more friends than they came with, it never gets totally out of control, and plenty of girls who are interested in him (and a lot of guys too tbh) bring tons of baked treats so there’s always free food. Kabru is the RA’s favourite person to have in the building (even though Kabru himself is messy but most of the people he’s friends with are nice and clean up after themselves).
he has a porsche (Milsiril gift for his 16th bday) but he’s adamant about not driving it unless he absolutely has to (because he doesn’t wanna look like a douche). BUT he never says no when his friends ask for rides (so he ends up driving all the time anyway). he actually contemplates selling the porsche and going for a more practical car but Mickbell is like ‘dude you are not taking this away from me.’ Kabru sighs and decides to keep it because his friends (Mickbell) like being chauffeured around in a fancy convertible (Rin, Holm, and Dia don’t care, they’re just glad they don’t have to walk to the grocery store).
he’s probably on a casual texting basis with most of his professors and you know he’s going to all their office hours, grabbing beer with them just to keep chatting about life outside of school. and that’s how he winds up in some super secret faculty group chat where he’s now privy to all the college administration gossip.
Kabru is elected for student council during his freshman year and he’s probably the favourite to be sc president one day.
he doesn’t really date (gets too in his head about how he doesn’t wanna ruin any friendships) but he does hang out one on one with a lot of girls and treats them all really well. he probably goes so far out of his way to be platonic that he flies a little too close to the ‘Just Like One of the Girlies’ sun, he kinda forgets that most people interpret it as flirting coming from him. which leads to a few awkward conversations. people feeling led on, a few angry jealous boyfriends, scathing dms about him being a girl stealing homewrecker.
it’s such a nightmare for him and he needs it to end right now. so he begs Rin to ‘date’ him for a week or two and then publicly dump him just so the entire student body gets the message that he is Just A Friend.
Rin stares at him for a few seconds. then she laughs. she laughs and laughs. she laughs for a crazy long time. and then eventually she goes, ‘wow you’re an asshole, Kabru. no i won’t be your fake girlfriend. you’re gonna suffer and i’m going to enjoy it.’
and that’s when Kabru has a moment of enlightenment. ok yeah. asking for that is probably really selfish and mean. maybe he needs to think about girls’ feelings more and that’s maybe more important than his deep seated need to be liked, and when has Rin ever been wrong about anything.
he apologizes. and so begins one of the more serious talks he’s ever had with Rin about being okay with not being liked.
he thinks he can really turn over a new leaf. the whole ‘not worrying about what other people think’ thing goes pretty well — up until Kabru meets the aloof professor for his Monsters and Myths class who keeps forgetting and mispronouncing his name.
Kabru has never needed someone to like him So Bad, he needs Prof. Touden to like him as a matter of life and death, and he’s willing to look stupid for it (fails a midterm on purpose to justify begging for one on one tutoring)
#wow if you made it to the end of this post here’s some surprise labru#kabru says fuck my gpa i need this white boy to like me#i am plagued by demons (labru professor/student situationship)#dungeon meshi modern au#ok but the Kabru Milsiril dynamic is my new favourite chew toy#especially them in a modern setting#all of the lavish gifts and expensive lifestyle that Milsiril would want Kabru to have#perhaps even as a way of depending on her forever (love to an unhealthy degree)#but Kabru is more interested in people than material things#so perhaps he’s a little out of touch financially (thinks a jug of milk costs $12)#but he’s still very much socially aware#enough to know that he can’t just be another annoying trust fund kid with a dumb car and designer clothes and zero fucks about academics#so his social and academic excellence is probably in large part overcompensation for his privileged upbringing#and even the thought of someone not liking him gives him stomach cramps LOL#kabru my love you will always be famous#kabru of utaya#kabru#wasabi rambles#labru#dungeon meshi#delicious in dungeon

wouldn't it be nice? - suna rintarou/f!reader (haikyuu!): fluff but suggestive at times, established relationship, talk of babies/families/pregnancy, committing to the bit is all fun and games until the bit commits to you, tw: light miscommunication since some of u guys hate that, let the record show this was NOT written for his birthday, i didn't even KNOW it was today ok, i will not be taking questions at this time (or ever)
You know exactly what started it.
The problem.
It was some sappy commercial you saw on TV one lazy Sunday afternoon.
You rarely even watch television—not proper cable television anyway—preferring the simplicity of streaming services in this modern day and age. It's a complete fluke that you happen across it at all while you and Rintarou rest sprawled across his couch in the afternoon sun, your feet tucked underneath his thigh. You wouldn't even go on to remember what the commercial was for; all you remember is the perfect, cherubic little baby at the centre of it, and the way that it made your heart melt.
You let out a long, wistful sigh once the advertisement transitions into the next. "I want to hold a baby."
It piques his interest. That stupid, completely unremarkable comment that you'd come soon to regret.
Rintarou pulls himself a little more upright at his end of the sofa, shooting you a mischievous look. His expression might seem placid to most people, impassive even, but you know it, and him, and all his minute eccentricities too well to be fooled.
"I'll give you a baby," he muses, angling his body over yours on the sofa with his arms caging your waist. You draw your legs back instinctively—hips perpendicular to your thighs and heels to the bottom of your bum—at the first sign of trouble.
Your lip curls, and you lift your sock-clad feet so they press flat against his chest, pushing him back with all the strength you can. He hardly budges, but you expect as much.
"Ew, Rin," you snort, head lolling to the side to idly watch the next useless commercial on TV as it unfolds, “gross."
Suna pauses, a hand loosely circling your ankle, and you glance at him from the corner of your eye. There's a look that you don't recognize that flitters across his face. His grip tightens a little, his thumb sweeping down over the round protrusion of your joint and back again.
"Gross?" he asks softly.
"Yeah, gross," you say, pulling your foot out of his hold. It takes a bit of effort, because he doesn’t seem to want to move, but you roll over onto your side and wiggle out from under him to rise up off the sofa. You shuffle into the kitchen for a snack, and you feel his eyes on you as you go.
But that was just the start.
You’re not sure if you just never noticed, or if the universe has a deeply perverse sense of cosmic humour, but after that Sunday afternoon, it seems like there are babies everywhere you go.
And if not actual living, breathing babies, then it's all matter of things that are decidedly baby-adjacent. Itty bitty onesies on display at the store you two are shopping at. Sweet souvenir plushies at the Aquarium that are meant for little ones to hold. Diapers, formula, and various other baby necessities are advertised in the posters mounted on bus stops, on train stations platforms, and on flashing digital billboards.
And every single time, without fail, you see them when you’re with Suna.
And every single time, without fail, he looks at you and waits for you to meet his gaze.
You’ve gotten pretty good at avoiding it, honestly. But then he’ll always make some comment. Point it out. Make it obvious.
“Look at that baby’s tiny hand. I bet our baby will have my hands.”
“Can you believe that babies are really this little? Do you think ours will be this small?”
“If you were buying these for our baby would you get the yellow or the—“
“Trick question,” you cut Suna off, snagging the yellow pair of training chopsticks (complete with a little ducky on top) out from his hands and shoving them back onto the display he’d just plucked them off of. You don’t allow yourself to linger for too long on how cute they really are. “Babies don’t use chopsticks, and also we’re not having a baby.”
You continue down the aisle of the market, a familiar pain throbbing just behind your eyes that Rintarou seems so uniquely skilled at eliciting. Your face is hot too, but that’s probably just from the frustration. After a moment you hear his feet shuffling along after you, and the two of you finish your grocery shopping in relative silence.
You’re used to putting up with all of your boyfriend’s other annoyances and oddities, so this is just another one to add to the ever-growing list. But this time, something feels a bit… different.
The two of you stop at a vending machine for coffee on your walk home since it’s cold out. Suna has the largest of your two reusable grocery bags looped over one of his arms, and somehow while you’re digging for change in your wallet he manages to weasel the other one off of your arm and onto his own, too.
“There’s a coffee shop right around the corner, why are you stopping here?” he asks, watching as you carefully make your selection from the humming machine in front of you. You press the button of your choice, and a can of cafe au lait clunks down into the waiting chute below.
“The metal can keeps my hands warmer,” you explain, sticking a few more yen into the machine and choosing Rintarou’s favourite, too. His choice makes the same descent yours had, and you crouch down to retrieve it for him, holding it out to him in offering as you stand.
He blinks at you.
“Nah, I’m good,” he says, shaking his head a little. “Hands are full, anyway.”
You balk at him soundlessly for a moment. “Give the other bag back, then!”
“Nope,” he replies, making a point to enunciate it clearly in a way that you know he knows drives you crazy. He takes a step in the direction of your apartment, and you have no choice but to stick the can of coffee he’d declined into your coat pocket and chase after him.
It does a great job of keeping your hand—tucked into your pocket and wrapped around it—warm as you walk, though.
Nearly back at your apartment, your can of coffee drained and properly disposed of, a little ball of fluff waddles past you on the sidewalk, heading towards the entrance of a nearby park. You and Rintarou both pause, equally confused by what you’ve just spotted.
Behind the amorphous little thing is a couple, maybe a few years older than you two are, trailing not even a metre away. You watch as they coo and fawn over it as is wobbles unsteadily towards the open stretch of grass ahead. They call it pet-names, and try to convince it to turn around for mom and dad so they can take a picture.
Oh.
A baby.
Probably a little older than a baby given the whole… walking thing. But it’s still so tiny, even in its big, puffy coat, so they can’t be very old. The hood is pulled up over the child’s head, and you realize upon closer inspection that it has—
“Teddy-bear ears,” Rintarou says, cupping his fingers over his mouth and blowing warm air into his hands. “That’s so cute.”
“Yeah,” you say with a soft smile, watching as the child toddles along in their fluffy little teddy jacket.
Suna must have put the grocery bags down at his feet at some point when the two of you stopped walking, and when he pulls his hands back from his face, you see how the tip of his nose has gone pink from the cold. He dips down in front of you, his eyes narrowed, scrutinizing you up-close.
“What?” you ask him nervously, a hand fluttering self consciously to your face.
His breath leaves his mouth in wispy clouds as he tilts his head to the side. He’s so close that the warmth brushes against your lips like an airy, indirect kiss. You wonder if he can taste the coffee that clings to yours.
“What?” you repeat yourself again, a little more insistently this time. You reach up and pinch either of his cheeks between your thumbs and forefingers—stretching the pliable flesh outwards in an attempt to get him to back off a bit. His rosy cheeks are cool under your warm touch.
“Do you think we’d make a cute baby?” Rintarou asks, though the question is a little garbled thanks to your grip, and your stomach clenches involuntarily. His hands, and his frigid fingertips, reach up and rest over your own where you’re still pinching his cheeks—though your vice has eased slightly.
“You can barely even make an omelet,” you huff out as heat rises in your cheeks, pulling your hands out from under his and looking away. “Like I’d ever trust you to make a baby.”
“People make them all the time by accident, you know,” he remarks, rubbing at his stinging cheeks where you’d been pinching him. “I’m sure I could do it on purpose if I really set my mind to it.”
You dip down and grab the grocery bag he’d taken off your hands earlier, hiking it up onto your shoulder.
“Why are you so obsessed with this stupid baby joke?” you ask him exasperatedly, following it with a long, aggrieved sigh that you can see as you breathe it out.
He looks at you for a moment, his brow pinching in the middle. His nose is still so pink, and it makes the green in his eyes stand out more.
You watch how Suna’s lips part, like he’s going to say something, but then they press together in a thin line again without uttering a word. He picks up his grocery bag with one hand and sets off in the direction of home, and this time you feel a little sheepish as you follow after him.
The apartment is quiet when you return home, and it stays that way as the two of you unpack the groceries in your kitchen side by side. You bought more than you usually would on a weekly grocery trip, all because Suna’s been staying over more than he usually does. But there’s a sudden frostiness that seems to have creeped in from outside, as if clinging to your coattails, and the chill has now settled between the two of you.
It makes a strange sort of anxiety prickle under the surface of your skin, tender like a bruise. It makes you wonder if half of these groceries are going to go to waste.
“I’ll shower first,” Rintarou mutters without turning towards you after he puts the last pantry item away and closes the cabinet.
Stress sits heavy in the pit of your stomach when he doesn’t look at you. It’s intentional, you know it is. Suna’s favourite hobby is staring at you—he’s told you that himself many, many times. But he doesn’t even spare you a glance before he shuffles off towards your bedroom.
You stand in silence in the kitchen, as though that weight in your gut keeps you anchored in place. You can hear the rustle of Rintarou’s clothes hitting the hamper. You hear the bathroom door close. You hear the spray of the shower turn on.
You hear your heartbeat. Loud and wet in your ears.
You’re being ridiculous. You know that. You’re all worked up over nothing.
This was all just some stupid joke that he was being annoying about in the first place. That he found every possible opportunity to bring up.
You aren’t even sure what’s upset him so much; uncertain as to why you being annoyed about one of his blatant attempts to annoy you seems to have caused him offence.
You curl up on your sofa as Rintarou showers, picking at the fraying cuff of your hoodie as you similarly pull apart every second of your memory from the walk home from the market in an attempt to identify what could possibly have gone wrong. You’re thinking about the can of coffee—left sitting, unopened and room-temperature now, on your kitchen counter—when you hear the shower turn off.
The seconds tick by agonizingly slowly as you wait for your sullen boyfriend to emerge, but when he does he still seems resolved to avoid you. You wait on the sofa, your fingers stilled in the motion of fiddling with your sleeve, anticipating that he’ll come ask you to blow-dry his hair, just like he always does.
He doesn’t.
The hairdryer clicks on in the other room, and the sound makes you feel sick.
“Rin!” your voice leaves you involuntarily, without an ounce of conscious effort. You sound panicked.
The hairdryer clicks off immediately, and Rintarou appears in the doorway to your bedroom—half-dressed and hair half-dried—in an instant. His eyes are alight with concern.
Your hand had flown to your mouth as soon as you called out for him, too late to actually muffle the sound. But it stays there as you look at him with shocked, notably-guilty eyes.
“What’s wrong?” he asks you, eying you suspiciously.
“Nothing,” you murmur, your fingers still resting lightly over your lips, you avert your eyes. “It’s nothing, sorry.”
He hesitates in the doorway for a moment, and then turns to head back to the hairdryer.
“It’s just—“
He pauses when you speak again, one of his hands resting on the doorframe he’s lingering beneath—neither in nor fully out.
“—you’re mad at me.”
You watch his shoulder blades as your words hang in the air between the two of you. The chill in your apartment, unlike it had been outside, is only proverbial—but you half expect to see wisps of vapour slipping out on the edge of your breaths.
“I can’t figure out what I did wrong.”
Suna looks at you over his shoulder, his already vulpine eyes narrowing a little further. Not in irritation, but consideration. For all the strangeness between the two of you today, you can still recognize that much in his expression.
“I’m not mad at you,” he finally says, and you hate how relieved you feel at so few words. Hate even more how him turning back to face you makes the weight in your stomach lessen. That as he approaches you on the sofa you feel the air warm with every step.
Rintarou perches on the edge of your couch, a full cushion between the two of you as you sit there quietly. Both of his feet are on the ground, but yours are drawn up onto the sofa with you, facing him. Slowly your feet creep forward, slipping your toes under his sweat-pant clad thigh.
Suna’s head droops forward, and he lets out a breathy, wry laugh.
“What are your theories so far?” he asks quietly.
Your head tilts to the side in confusion.
He peeks over at you, peering up at you from the corner of his eye.
“What do you think you might have done wrong?”
You hum quietly, pursing your lips slightly.
“Well, I… I thought maybe I got you the wrong coffee. I didn’t ask, but you always choose that one, so I just thought…”
Suna clicks his tongue.
“Nope.”
You huff a bit, staring at your hands in your lap. “Well… there was that baby at the park.”
You feel Suna’s eyes on you, but you’re suddenly too wary to meet them. He doesn’t tell you you’re wrong though, so you continue.
“And I said you can’t make an omelet.”
He laughs a bit again, and you know that wasn’t it either.
“Are you upset because I said that I didn’t think you could make a baby?” you ask, peeking up at him. “Rin, I’m borderline militant about taking my birth control. I obviously don’t think you’re impo—“
Rintarou tips his head up a little further, meeting your gaze. Caught in his stare, it’s suddenly like your words die before you can get them off the tip of your tongue. Slowly, he reaches out towards you, taking one of your fidgeting hands and holding it in his. His touch is warm now, in contrast to what it had been at the park. He lifts your hand up to his mouth.
Delicately, he kisses your fingertips. His lips brush against the digits, over your knuckles and up to your palms. He presses your hand to his cheek and looks at you with the most pitiful gaze. It makes your chest ache.
“I don’t like it when you say that,” he says reticently. And for all Rintarou’s height and weight and sheer breadth, he sounds so impossibly small.
“Say what?” you ask him, and your voice is quiet too. Vulnerable.
He leans his flushing cheek into your hand, holding it to his face and closing his eyes as he nuzzles into your touch.
“That you wouldn’t have my baby,” he whispers, “that you don’t want it.”
You resist the urge to pull away. It’s an instinct you can’t explain: a desire to keep him at a distance, to always laugh things off, to make a joke out of very real feelings.
“Because I do.”
You blink.
Suna opens his eyes and looks at you, and for the first time you see the very real, very not joking pain in his eyes.
“I want that with you.”
Your mouth is dry and you’re frozen. You stare at him, completely still, stunned by his sincere confession.
“What?” you manage to squeak out.
Rintarou closes his eyes again, breathing out a little sigh. He pulls your hand from his cheek, folding your fingers down so they’re hooked in a loose fist around his thumb. He brings your hand to his lips, not quite a kiss but close enough to call it that anyway.
“Not right now,” he murmurs into your knuckles, lips brushing against you as he speaks the words. “But someday.”
You’re still so shocked that you don’t know how to respond. He peers at you, hand still held to his lips, his eyes more resolved than they are wounded now.
“And I want you to want that. But I don’t know how to make you want it too.”
Your heartbeat thumps in your chest, resonant and palpable. Heat has crawled all the way up your face now, and you’re fairly certain your hand has gone clammy, but Rintatou passes no comment even if it has.
“Do you think you could?” he asks you quietly. Sheepishly. Earnestly. “Could you want that? With me?”
You pitch yourself forward suddenly, and Rintarou lets out a little grunt of surprise as the two of you topple back into the sofa. You hide your burning face in the crook of his neck, that smells like your body wash and shampoo but somehow so much better, clutching onto him like your life depends on it. Suna seems shocked for a moment as he finds himself flat on his back with your weight on top of him, and his body is stiff as he processes it. After a few beats of your too-loud, too-telling heart pass, he finally eases. He wraps his arms around your waist and holds you tightly to him.
“You’re so stupid,” you grumble, your eyes squeezing shut tightly.
“Yeah,” he agrees, and you can hear the smile in his voice. The genuine laughter that’s hiding just behind the words. He hugs you a little tighter. “Probably.”
You stay like that for a while, basking in the warmth of Rintarou’s body and the rhythm of his breath.
“You love me though,” he says quietly, “so that reflects pretty badly on you.”
You lift your head to meet his gaze, and find him barely holding in a laugh. You can’t help but laugh with him. Can’t help but enjoy your favourite sound.
Rintarou scoops you up in his arms again, tugging you into his lap. He presses featherlight kisses to the corner of your jaw, and you fiddle with his long, lithe fingers. He sighs, but this time the sound is at ease. His damp hair tickles your face as he rests his forehead against your temple, nosing at your cheek.
“Hey, Rin?” you murmur as you run your thumb over the space between his first and second knuckle on his ring finger. You think about the kid you saw at the park in the fluffy jacket, and the besotted parents trailing along behind it.
He answers you with a content, if not slightly curious, hum.
You turn your face towards him, and your noses brush. Rintarou’s lashes flutter as his gaze turns a little heavy-lidded. You can feel his breath on your lips, that’s how close he is. You inch forward until the space between you is almost completely gone.
And just before your lips meet, you smile.
“I do think we’ll make a cute baby.”

Sending Love Letters - [MUTI! BLLK X F!READER]
(SEPARATE) pt1
Staring: rin, sae, shidou, niko, kaiser
pt2: ness, otoya, karasu, Reo
[ BLLK Scenario Masterlist ]
TW: heavy ooc, bad grammar, bad spelling, bad formatting, cringe, scuff, etc.
>Rin
Rin just finished showering, and was going through his school bag.
He tossed a few crumpled pieces of paper away, and pulled out his homework. As he did, a neatly crafted envelope slipped out from his notebook, the heart seal immediately catching his eyes.
He put his work aside and inspected the envelope, he did get occasional confessions at school, but this is the most effort and care he’s seen in one. His name was written in cursive on the back, indicating that the letter was in fact for him.
“Who sent it… Could it be-No, no no. They wouldn’t…” a familiar name popped into his head, but he’d never admit he was hoping it was you.
Rin sat down on his bed as he tore apart the letter carefully, making sure not to damage the paper. The letter was folded in half, little Sanrio characters around the border and neat handwriting
His eyes skimmed the paper, reading every word while holding it tightly.
Rin’s face flushed as he read, by the end of it, he was red as a tomato. He’d never gotten so flustered from other confessions, why was it he felt so… strange reading this one? Was it because it was written in your handwriting? Or the fact that it was your initial sighed at the end?
No no no, surely not. At least that’s what he told himself. “Right… It could be anyone, she’s not the only one with that initial, and there’s no way to be sure it’s her handwriting. She’s probably not the one who sent me this.”
He dropped the paper, losing interest.
Not even 12 seconds passed til he picked it up again, “Sh1t, what if it is her…” Rin’s face reddened at his own thoughts. He looked again at the handwriting.
“I’m sure she wrote this, that’s her handwriting. She always tilts her ‘E’ slightly, and that’s her pen for sure, she always writes in 0.38…. How do I know that-” He buried his face in his arms, embarrassed that he had unintentionally memorised almost everything about her.
“This is so pathetic, what if it’s not her…” he frowned at the thought, he’d spent more time than he’d like to admit on the letter, but he couldn’t bring himself away. He groaned as he fell back onto his pillow. On one hand, the love of his life might like him back, on the other, it could be some extra he didn’t care about.
He lay there for a few moments of silence before getting interrupted
“So, you like someone?” Sae leaned against the open door of his room, observing Rin and his red face.
“I- HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN STANDING THERE FOR!?” Rin shot up, quickly putting the letter under the blankets and threw his pillow at his brother
Sae tried to hold in a laugh as he caught the pillow “Calm down Rin, I just came to let you know dinner’s ready.” he tossed the pillow back and waited for Rin
The younger brother rolled his eyes, face still red. But he got off his bed and closed the door behind him, heading to the dinner table.
“You should send her a letter back, tell her you like her too” Sae said, walking behind him
“... I don't like her.” Rin lied, trying to convince himself more than his brother
“Sure you don’t, [Y/N] right? You’ve mentioned her a few times”
“Once. I mentioned her once.” Rin glared at Sae
Sae just shrugged “Well, you mentioned her by name, so that’s something. Cmon, let’s eat.”
Rin rolled his eyes, but joined Sae anyway.
Also Sae def threatened to tell their parents unless Rin told him more 🤭, so after dinner mostly consisted of Sae bullying Rin for it :>
>Shidou
Shidou just finished showering, and was now lazing around doing nothing.
He was flipping through his sketchbook until he saw a cute envelope taped to an empty page (A/N: for those who don’t know, art’s actually his favourite subject :D we stan artist Shidou (all from the Egoist Bible/Wiki btw) )
He pulled it off with no particular care and would’ve ripped it open if not for the Hello Kitty decorations. Just kidding, he admired it for two seconds before tearing it apart.
He didn’t even read the words at first, he was just looking at the decorations.
That was until he noticed the handwriting, it looked exactly like yours. Then he immediately looked at who signed it, your initial.
He sat there for a few seconds, contemplating. Did you really write this? Was this really meant for him? The moment that thought crossed his mind, he threw the paper and balled up in anticipation
He started panicking, “Sh1t, did [Y/N] send this to me?? Fvck fvck fvck- oh g0d…” his face heated up, he didn’t care much about it until the possibility of you being the sender hit him.
Shidou immediately picked the letter back up, and the envelope it came in. His name was written in cursive on the back, and he had a strong feeling it was you. “She has a fountain pen right? This sort of letting can only be done with those kinds of tools, and not everyone has one!” His face lit up, hoping it was you who wrote to him. “Yes yes, I remember she had a bunch of Hello Kitty stickers, i think she was working on this in class too” Shidou recalled you writing with your fountain pen in class while he was working on a sketch. And he did leave his sketchbook open on a blank page at one point- it was very possible you sent it.
He put the torn envelope down and silently apologized for ripping it before reading the letter.
He was smiling and blushing through the whole thing, the thought of you liking him almost made him want to explode 😀
He re-read his favourite part of “I like you, Shidou” like 6 times, and was genuinely freaking out.
He pinned the letter and envelope to his wall, and stared at it for like 2 min before telling himself to pull it together (he didn’t)
He promised he’d go profess his love to you tmr as well before (trying to) sleep.
Shidou was also incredibly grateful that you stuck it on a blank page of his sketchbook, for if you flipped back just a bit, you would’ve discovered all the drawings of you that he’d make in whatever classes he had with you.
And after he remembers to confess, he’ll add your letter and envelope to the little box of other drawing of you under his bed :3
(Also I promise he uses those pictures for NORMAL purposes-)
>Sae
(School AU! So he’s 3rd year highschool, Rin’s in his last year of secondary)
Sae was finally done with school, all he had to do now was to pick up Rin.
So he waited outside the school gates and scrolled his phone
“Nii-Chan!” Rin walked up to Sae, having grown the same height
“Hey Rin” Sae ruffled his hair, to which Rin frowned “Ready to go?”
Rin nodded before following Sae home, but then something caught his eye.
“There’s something in your hood, hold up.” Rin plucked the envelope out and looked at it, “There’s a heart stamp, is it from your girlfriend?”
“I don’t have a girlfriend” Sae rolled his eyes “You can throw it out”
“What? I thought you liked [Y/N]? What if she sent this?”
“No I don’t.” Sae kept a straight face but paused “... Actually give me that” he snatched the paper out of his hands and inspected it carefully. He did remember when he was sleeping in his last class you walked by him, so there was a chance it was your doing.
Sae shoved it into his pocket, “It’s nothing, don’t worry about it.”
Rin gave him a side eye, but kept quiet.
Once they got home, Sae went and locked himself in his room, which Rin did find a bit strange….
Sae sat down and took the letter out, the possibility of you sending it never leaving his thoughts.
He cut through the envelope with a letter opener and examined the contents.
Sae read each word, letter them set in. His face would imply that he didn’t care, but the mere action of reading it would say otherwise. His hyper beating heart and racing thoughts weren’t helping either.
After he finished going through it, he had to take a moment to process. He then read it again to make sure he got it right. Sure there was no way to be sure you were the sender, but who else could it be? The 20 other people in the clash who probably also like him? Probably not.
“Sh1t, what do I do tomorrow… do i kiss her?? No no, that’s too soon.” Sae felt disappointed in himself for not knowing anything about romance or love. “Maybe I should just invite her to my soccer game, that’ll impress her.”
Suddenly, a knock his door was soon followed by Rin’s voice, “Dinner’s ready”
Sae sighed and put the letter away, telling himself he’ll deal with it later before joining his family for dinner
“So, Sae” His mother smirked, “Rin told me you have a girlfriend?”
Sae’s face turned to one of shock, embarrassment and betrayal. He turned to Rin and frowned at him. “He’s lying.” Sae stuffed some noodles into his face, not wanting to talk about it
His mother rolled her eyes, finding this very amusing. “You should write back, it’s impolite to keep her waiting.”
“Sure…” Sae said, pretending to only be half-listening, “That’s not a terrible idea…”
>Niko
“Thank you” Niko gave the school librarian a quick bow, taking the manga in his hands. He just finished a series and was looking to start a new one, luckily the librarian had some recommendations, and it seemed that she very much wanted him to read it
He went to the back of the library and sat down on one of the bean bags and started flipping through it. It was a manga about high school romance, and though this was not usually his cup of tea, it was highly rated online so he thought he’d take a look.
He sat for a few hours, just reading it, occasionally sipping snacking on some pocky
Niko had just finished the first volume, and was about to go get the second one, until he saw an envelope sticking out from the last page
He took it out and held it up to the light, there seemed to be a letter inside, and based off the heart seal on the front, it was probably a love letter.
“Should I open it? No that’s rude, it’s not mine anyway… but how would they know? Who is this even for?” he flipped the envelope around, and there was his name written out in cursive
He had to take a moment to process, this was meant for him?? He looked around, confused. Was someone watching him? But he was the only person in the library at the time, “Please don’t tell me I have a stalker…”
He opened the envelope nonetheless, and started reading. He found it very hard to believe that someone liked him, barely any girls talked to him. Except for you
Niko’s face flushed, was it really possible that you sent it to him? No no, there’s no way you like him. Right? I mean sure, the signed initial was yours, but there’s just no way!
He went back up to the front desk to interrogate the librarian. And to get the next volume of the manga
But the librarian insisted that she didn’t know anything, but the smile on her face said otherwise. Niko sighed, slightly disappointed that she wouldn’t tell him if you were the sender, or if it was staged at all. What if you were just trying to embarrass him?!
He took the second volume and left with the letter in hand, feeling unsatisfied
Niko couldn’t stop thinking of you, even once he got home. He re-read it like 20 times, arguing with himself about what to do.
He groaned, “I should really do something else, I've been spending too much time on this.” Niko picked up his book and decided to read that instead.
But he didn’t make it very far before you invaded his mind, curse the book for being a romantic one.
Niko sighed, he should really sort this out, shouldn’t he? Or the feeling will eat at his heart forever. He hesitated before dialing up Aiku. Was this a good idea? Probably not, but whatever.
“Heyyy, Niko my man, wassup?”
“K so, there’s this girl I like…”
Niko explained the situation quickly to him, and asked him for his advice
“Pull her in by the hips and say her lips look lonely!” Aiku said confidently
“... I’m hanging up.”
“NIKO NOO-”
Niko sat there in silence, wondering what to do now. “I should probably confess too… BUT WHAT IF SHE WASN’T EVEN THE SENDER?”
Just then, he got a text from Aiku,
“Just send her a letter back ;)” -> “Thank you, for your one good piece of advice.”
>Kaiser
Kaiser had gotten back from practice a while ago, now scrolling his phone.
Suddenly, a message appeared.
Usually Kaiser would’ve just let Ness do it for him, but Isagi called him a brainless b1tch the other day, so he felt the need to prove him wrong
Kaiser sighed as he opened the math workbook, most things being written by Ness
He flipped until he got to the assigned pages, throwing some headphones on to focus
He pulled out his pen and got to work. A pencil you say? Tch, those are for people who make mistakes, Kaiser cleared the questions easily.
“That was easy, see Isagi? I’m not the dumb one.” he smugly thought to himself
He was about to put the book away, until an envelope popped out.
“Did Ness leave this here?” he took the paper in his hands, flipping it around. His name was written out in fancy cursive, this definitely wasn’t Ness’
Kaiser didn’t hesitate for a second before ripping it open and reading it
With every word written, his pride and ego grew. And by the end, he was 100% sure he was gonna bag you. Was it even proven that you were the one who sent it? No- but he was convinced you liked him.
He wondered how long the letter was in there for, it’s been a while since he’s touched his math homework.
A/N: Yea im just posting all wattpad stuff now.... i feel forced to put an A/N

Killers and their s/o's pets
some general headcanons for how killers (Hillbilly/Wraith/Spirit/Huntress) would interact with an S/O's pet and how they would feel about various animals.
Max Thompson Jr / The Hillbilly
Max is not great with a lot of animals. Not all of them, but a lot of common domestic animals. A dog or pretty much any farm animal is going to be pretty tough to get him to do anything more than tolerate. He won't hurt them or anything, but he's going to try his best to avoid acknowledging that they're there at all.
Max is fully aware that the way he views these animals isn't fair- they're animals, after all, its not like they've wronged him on purpose. But his negative associations towards them is strong.
Other animals, however, Max is fine with. He might even be okay with small dogs like pugs or shih tzus, as they barely even resemble the police dogs that lead to his dislike of dogs as a whole.
Max likes cats. Partially because the cartoons that provided him small solace from his otherwise horrid life, but he also just enjoys watching the way they move and climb. Is completely unbothered by cats bringing in dead mice or snakes. Might even pet them for doing a 'good job'.
That said, Max also gets... jealous easily. He has a lot of insecurities around the idea of people like his parents valuing animals like pigs more than him.
Just know that if you're giving your pet affection in front of Max, Max is going to want affection to. Just some reassurance that you value him, too.
Max also finds insects to be interesting. He doesn't really like flies, he's seen enough of them and heard enough of their buzzing for a lifetime, but if his S/O keeps things like beetles or butterflies, Max will find that pretty neat. And, another big plus for Max, there's not really much of a way to show affection to or receive affection from an insect, so there's not much for him to get jealous over.
Fish fall into a similar category to insects, especially since Max hasn't really seen that many fish in-person before: not alive ones, anyway.
Philip Ojomo / The Wraith
Philip is good with most animals! He used to leave food in his garage for stray cats, so he has a fondness of cats in particular.
Animals also just like Philip. An old junker dog at Autohaven would bark and growl at every other employee as they came in, but not Philip. After he entered the realm and became 'The Wraith', the crows also seemed to have an affinity towards him, though those aren't exactly 'real' animals.
Still! Philip is fond of most animals and most animals are fond of him. Animals he's not familiar with he's more than happy to learn about.
Leave him alone with an animal and when you come back he will probably be cooing over it and talking to it. Stops being so affectionate when he realizes he's no longer alone.
Not that Philip's trying to hide his fondness of the pet, he'll still pet it and talk fondly of it in front of people, but its more reserved than when he's alone.
Rin Yamaoka / The Spirit
Rin's pretty average with her feelings on and interactions with animals. Likes your standard stuff, is a bit more hesitant with more unusual pets, like snakes or spiders.
Would really like a dog if thats what her S/O's pet is, if her financial situation in life allowed it she would have liked to have one herself, but she's a bit more hesitant now, worried a dog might run off with one of her floating limbs.
Other than that, Rin also gets a bit worried about being affectionate with anything, animals especially. At least with affection towards her S/O, they both know to be cautious of the glass imbedded in Rin's skin, but a lot of animals might not always know better.
Because of this, Rin's more reserved with giving pets or physical affection towards animals, but will give them a lot of silly, affectionate nicknames.
Anna / The Huntress
If you have a pet, you need to establish that with Anna well before introducing her to it.
Its not that the idea of a pet is entirely foreign to Anna; She's seen hunting dogs, and vaguely can recall wishing for one of her own as a young girl.
But that time has long passed, and her default view of anything other than herself and children is 'prey'. Establishing that this particular animal is not prey before introducing Anna to it is best to prevent any misconceptions from taking root in the back of her mind.
Naturally very curious about animals. Observing animals to learn their behaviors and weak points is engrained into her- of course, she won't hurt your pet on purpose once its established to her that it is your pet, but the way she watches it will still feel like a predator stalking its prey.
If you have a dog, she will want to try to use it as a hunting dog. Might be disappointed if its not a kind of dog that can easily be trained to do that, or is just too small for it.
She'll be a bit lost on how to interact with a cat initially, but comes to understand their behavior rather quickly. They're hunters, too, but prefer to hunt alone unlike dogs. She finds it respectable. Will be extremely delighted by a cat bringing back dead mice or snakes; She understands it as the cat bringing back food it hunted for its family. It might not be much of a meal for humans, but she can appreciate the sentiment of it.
Not going to be very affectionate to any animal at first because she isn't sure how to be. Anna will pretty quickly pick up on how her S/O shows affection to their pet and mimic that, though her petting of animals tends to have a bit more force behind it then needed.
Generally likes pets that are predator rather than prey- ironic, considering her rabbit mask. She likes an animal that can help hunt or defend itself.

Bllk boys X Affectionate! Extroverted! Reader (Part 1)
Featuring: Yoichi Isagi, Meguru Bachira and Rin Itoshi
Here's the masterlist and Part two with Hyoma Chigiri, Reo Mikage, Seishiro Nagi :)
A/n: It's my first time so sorry if it's bad ⊂(・▽・⊂)
~Yoichi Isagi~
• As we all know, the sweetest boy to exist in blue lock. unless given a soccer ball, pls refrain from giving one to him if you don't want the most infuriating and tanuting insults your way
• *coughs* Anyway.
• At first he is suprised. Like pleasantly surprised. He's definitely NOT used to someone like you. And he loves every second of it. He is a bit oblivious about it, you know?
• He is used to taking initiative in planning, or interacting or anything tbh because blue lock is filled with traumatised and/or self centred people.
• And then you arrived...with your not-so-shy approach and assertive nature, and absolutely won his heart.
•"Yoichiiiii! Can we go go that café later? Please? :D"
"Just the two of us?"
"Yessir!"
"Like a date?"
"No, not like a date- it's a date!"
•His brain went to full autopilot mode, whereas you oblivious to his suprise and continued with some other topic blissfully.
• So you're such so refreshing with your sweetness! Needless to say, he was attracted to you from first sight.
• Like he had never been complimented so openly about his personality and looks (aside from his parents)
• "Hey, I got you a drink as well."
"Thank you so much! Next time I'll buy you juice okay?!"
• YOUR. SMILE.
• Darling, I'm not joking when I say he would kill for it.
•And your laugh too. Like why are you so pretty and sweet?!
• And when you're comfortable enough to hug him all the time? Oh boy, he's having a field day then ;)
• He was bit suprised, like what do you mean you missed him so much that you ran straight to tackle him as soon as he was in your vision-?
• But damnit he can't stop his blushing just thinking about it!
• He is both intrigued and in awe when he sees you having deep conversations with random strangers.
• "Was that your friend?"
"Huh?"
"That girl in bus."
"Oh, no I don't even know her name."
"SO WHY WAS SHE TALKING ABOUT HER CHILDHOOD TRAUMA AND YOU BEING ALL SYMPATHETIC ABOUT IT?!"
•Nevertheless, he loves you too much to be actually annoyed. He simply thinks that 'Damn how did I manage to pull such a sweetheart?'
• He's so blessed to have you! (≧▽≦)
~Meguru Bachira~
• Fell in love at first sight with your vibrant nature. You excite him him so much!
• He couldn't almost believe you were so interested in him and were so nice about it!
• Before you know it, you guys were practically glued together, competing you could show more affection.
• You guys are the type which doesn't faze your friends even a little bit that you are dating.
• Speaking of which...
• "Hey, you guys are dating right?"
"Wait Meguru...are we?"
"Why not?"
"....yay!!!! :D"
• Never even a bit suprised or fazed when you first tried to hug him.
• Just hugs you back while chuckling, picking you up just to hear that sweet laugh.
• It soon become a habit, you hugging him as soon as you saw him and him picking you up!
• Sure, he looks happy as hell around you. But that's just surface level feelings for you, he's deeply grateful for having you in his life.
• Geuninely thinks he'll never pay you back for the joy you bring him.
•Doesn't stop him from trying though! Not in a million years! Always bringing you snacks and drinks, complimented you. sneaking a kiss here and there too :P
• He always initiaties hangouts by the way. You wanna try that new mall? Arcade? Just lightly mention it and he's clearing his schedule for it and asking you to go.
• He can't deny he feels just a tiny, little bit jealous when he sees you interacting with random strangers with such sparkle.
• Just drags you by arm mumbling how you guys are getting late without warning, when you take too much time, shooting a glare to the other person.
• While he doesn't get fazed by the physical affection, you always manage to catch him off guard with your compliments.
• "Oh! Nice shirt, looks good on you! :D"
"You think so?"
"Mhm, goes well with your eyes."
• Is not afraid to get his hands dirty, someone is making names behind your back? He's ready to beat the hell out of him.
• He knows the feeling. The feeling of being left out, called weird or strange. He doesn't want you to to feel that way, even for a second.
• You're the best thing after footballthat happened to him, y'know?
• He just can't let you be sad.
~Rin Itoshi~
• Oh God okay-
• He thought you were strange as hell, and didn't even call you by your actual name, opting to call you 'dumbass' or 'idiot'.
• Not necessarily because he thought you were annoying, but because you were so... geunine in your adoration for him.
• You didn't even want anything in return, so why? He didn't wanna admit it, but he was a little intrigued deep down.
• No, soccer was his priority, beating his brother in football was the main aim in his life, he can't get distracted by a idiot girl like you-
• But damnit, he can't resist it, the way you look up at him with that sweet smile, innocent eyes most adorable expression.
• Rin knew he lost the game at that point. Still took a while to get used to the reality of having a crush though.
• When you first hugged him, he froze, his eyes widening. When he came to his senses a few seconds later, a red blush come on his face and his hands wrapped around your frame mumbling "dumbass".
• NO but like he's lowkey sometimes high-key tsundere about it. Always telling you to get off him but his arms pulling you in his embrace anyway.
• "Get off me, you damn idiot!"
"Aww but you're still supporting my back though :D"
"Just shut the hell up okay?"
• He is so confused though...why would someone so sweet like you be with him? And what do you mean he's cute?! He's supposed to be the aloof, lone wolf, why don't you understand?! Lowkey loves it though.
• If he does manage to flusterate you with his affection...he surprisingly becomes talkative-?
• "Why the fuck are you getting all red? Do you have a fever or something?"
"N-No."
"Just... just don't act suprised okay? I'm trying my best to express my feelings.".
• At moments like this, he's very soft, very gentle with you. Geuninely tries his best, he doesn't want you to feel like he doesn't feel the same way.
• You're so sweet with him... that'a the least he could do.
• Definitely a very jealous boy. Interacting with random NPCs? Who doesn't even deserve that sweet smile of yours?
• His brain immediately resorts to overthinking. What did he do? Did he scare you off with his insults? Did he neglect you?
• A moment of slip up results in the showing his vulnerability on his face, quickly recovers from it, and gives the deadliest death glare to the person.
• And the poor guy just runs for his life. Whereas you are very oblivious to the scene just happened.
• "Hmph. Didn't even say goodbye. Meanie."
"That NPC doesn't deserve your attention. Let's go."
• You really will turn him crazy one of these days, idiot and even will let you, how stupid. He thinks.
A/n: I was blushing so much while writing it (≧▽≦)

Convos With Rin
Rin x Gn! Reader
No warnings! Just pure fluff, also you can ignore the last 2 lines if you want to read this as platonic!
Aka: maladaptive daydreams by yours truly that I cleaned up and formatted. Part 2 here
“Sometimes I wonder if the idealized, romanticized version of relationships I’ve built up in my head are subconsciously affecting my navigation in reality.”
“What?” Rin asks, rolling over from where he lies on his bed to look at you, his teal eyes switching from his phone to glance over at you.
“Sorry, that was word vomit.” You say waving a hand dismissively before speaking again. “It’s just… I mean that I wonder if my expectations of romantic relationships have been distorted because of all the media I consume. And I wonder if that would ruin any chance I have of a healthy relationship.”
You absentmindedly start fiddling with your fingers as you speak.
“Like, for example dating sims, every love interest is over possessive and jealous, and that’s fine, cause it’s a fantasy. And obviously it’s not endorsed in real life, because if you date someone who foams at the mouth every time you look at another man, you’ll have issues. But… sometimes I wonder if I’ll think back to those dumb games when I’m in a relationship and choose something unhealthy for myself.”
A comfortable silence lapses after your ramblings and you wait patiently for your best friend's response.
“…you sure do think a lot more than I expected.” He says after a while and you can’t help but roll your eyes.
“Wow thanks.” You drone out. “You know what? I’d rather you have just flipped me off and called me a dumbass than whatever attempt of a compliment that was.”
“Didn’t mean it like that, I meant that I’d never once thought about that.” He says cooly, in a way that makes you unfairly jealous of his demeanor.
“Yeah? Well, I’m not surprised. Your brain is composed of 50% football and the other half is basic motor skills. I doubt you’ve even thought of anything outside of that.”
“…not true.”
“Oh yeah, you’re right. Somewhere, squeezed between the cracks of those key areas, is your vast knowledge of horror trivia.” You joke, your eyes darting over his sprawled form.
“…” He hesitates to respond before muttering out. “That’s not what I meant.”
“What’d you mean then?”
“…nothing, never mind.”
“Oh boo, you whore.” You scoff, sitting up in his desk chair to devote your attention to him. “Come on tell meeee! I tell you everything… well, almost everything but— nonetheless…”
He glares but you simply smile at him before waiting eagerly for him to finally loosen his tongue and spill whatever he has locked away from you.
And maybe deep down he knows that there’s no winning against you because he ends up opening his mouth to speak.
“I…I think about romance sometimes.” He eventually admits, his eyes darting back to his phone in embarrassment.
“Oho?” You straighten up further, a goading grin on your face much to his annoyance. “Our little Rinrin is growing up!”
“Fuck you, this is why I don’t tell you shit.”
“Aww come on, I won’t tease you anymore I promise! Please tell me more!” You practically beg, looking at him with prying eyes.
“This is lame.” Rin scoffs.
“You’re lame! Romance is perfectly natural. Anyways, is this a crush? A passing fantasy?”
“Why do you care so much?”
“I live vicariously through my friends’ love lives, now spillll!” You say, dragging out the last syllable deliberately to piss him off.
“I’m not having this conversation with you.”
“Why not?” You say a pout on your lips.
“Because you’re annoying and you’re only asking to make fun of me.”
“What? Me?” You gasp out in faux surprise. “Never, could I ever make fun of you, after all you’re my dearest most important–”
“Save it.” He cuts you off, content to ignore you now, engrossed in his phone.
“Kill joy… I’ll get it out of you one of these days.” You say darkly before leaning back to sulk in his chair.
“Over my dead body.” He mutters, but if you looked over to him again, you’d see the tell tale way his gaze fell back to you.
Unfortunately for you, Rin’s crush would stay a secret for just a little while longer.

🌱🩷: Idk, smn wanted a pt2 with Chigiri's sister.
Warnings: Reader uses she/her. In the story the boys will be using he/him when addressing Yn. Requests for this series are open.
⚽️Blue Lock belongs to Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura⚽️
Masterlist to this story
"What?! I am not doing that! Forget it!" (Y/n) yelled as she stared at Ego and Anri in disbelief as the two adults(Anri) stared at her in guilt.
"I am so sorry, (Y/n). We tried to talk the JFU out of it, but they are adamant for you to pull this PR stunt."
"Why me?!" She asked again, disgusted with the whole idea.
"Because you are the captain, and thanks to your talent of always getting into trouble, the dating rumors caused quite a spike in this project's interest." Ego added in as (Y/n) rolled her eyes.
"That dating rumor is a big misunderstanding! Listen, I doubt that Chigiri-san would like to be used like this, and neither do I. Can't you ask someone else?" (Y/n) asked desperately as the two adults shook their heads.
"We tried, since we knew you would not agree to this, bit since you are among the popular members, and the captain, the public would be more interested in you."
"The JFU said that either you do this, or they are not allowing you to participate any longer."
"This has to be a joke." (Y/n) muttered as she heard the last part of Ego's explanation.
"Sorry..." Anri said as she walked over to pat (Y/n) on the back.
"Chigiri will have my head for this. He will kill me."
(Y/n) shivered as she remembered how the redhead reacted to Otoya looking at his sister.
Chigiri had already woken up with a headache, and he just knew that the day will not get better from there. However, what he didn't expect was seeing his sister walk into the dining hall, causing the present players to stop in their meal to look at her. A mixture of confusion and surprise on their faces.
"Sis? What are you doing here? How did you even get inside?" Chigiri raised his eyebrow as his sibling approached him, looking around the room for someone.
"Your coach and assistant coach called me here. Where is (Y/n), anyways? They called me because of him."
"Why?" Chigiri narrowed his eyes at his sister, as the rest fell completely silent.
"What's with the rude tone?" The older teased and pinched Chigiri's cheek.
"Isn't that the girl who was spotted with (Y/n) a few weeks ago?" Tokimitsu asked nervously.
"It is... why would she need him?" Niko wondered, glaring at the redhead. Hiori raised an eyebrow as he inspected the older Chigiri.
'Well, she is pretty. But is she really (Y/n)'s type? He seems more like someone who is into football.' Hiori tried to reason, ignoring the jealousy he was feeling towards the girl.
"Hmm... I swear, if she came to distract him from training..." Karasu rolled his eyes as Otoya put his head on the table.
"You worry too much. (Y/n) is way to shy around girls. Remember when they approached him after our win." The boy snickered, causing Yukimiya to let out a few chuckles as well.
"It was an adorable sight."
"Well, he isn't here." Kurona decided to speak up, causing the two siblings to look at him.
"He we out to train with a few other members. He will probably not be back anytime soon." The shark boy said, knowing he pretty much lied at the last part.
'Maybe it will make her leave.'
"Yeah, that lukewarm idiot decided to practice instead of eating and resting. He was joined by a few more idiots as well." Rin grumbled, earning a slight jab from Aryu.
"Stop acting so jealous. Maybe you can join him next time for practice."
"I am not jealous." Rin silently hissed, which made Kunigami roll his eyes.
"You acted all grumpy when you were told by Reo that they won't need any more players while Nagi and Bachira dragged him away."
"Shut up."
"Why... why do you need to talk with him? You told me that you two aren't even close." Chigiri asked his sister as they ignored the whispers from the fellow players. The girl looked at him for a moment, contemplating what to say when the door opened.
"Nagi, stop hanging off of him. You are heavy." Reo groaned, trying to pull him off of (Y/n), as Isagi and Barou were busy getting Bachira off of him.
"Can you two stop doing that? Don't you see that he is uncomfortable?" Barou glared at the duo.
"I am his closest friend, tell that to this buzzkill." Nagi glared at Bachira as the boy poked his tongue out.
"Can you all just calm down?" Isagi facepalmed as (Y/n) silently groaned.
"Ah! (Y/n), there you are!" The girl jumped up as she heard the older Chigiri, and blinked at her.
"Chigiri-san, you are here already?" (Y/n) asked in surprise as she walked over to her. The younger girl flinching a little as she felt Bachira and Nagi tighten their holds on her.
"Yep~ didn't want to keep you waiting? Did you eat anything?" She asked in worry as (Y/n) finally got the two boys off of her,
"I ate something this morning." She said, sounding very awkward.
'I know that Ego-san told her about this plan...' (Y/n) thought, jumping as the older Chigiri grabbed her arm.
"Aww~ you are being shy! Cute!" The redhead teased, pinching her cheeks.
"Chigiri-san, that hurts." The player groaned as the team watched them in a mix of envy and sadness.
"Nee-san, can you stop that?! He is uncomfortable." The younger Chigiri demanded, glaring at his sister.
'Did it get colder in here?' (Y/n) thought, looking at the other players, who were glaring at them.
"Oh... you didn't tell them?" The girl asked as the captain shook her head.
"No. I was training the whole morning-"
"What is going on?" Karasu suddenly asked as everyone looked nervously between the couple.
(Y/n) looked at her team, unsure how to answer the question, especially with how Chigiri was staring at her.
'He will kill me in my sleep!'
The older sibling decided to speak up instead and pulled (Y/n) closer to herself.
"We are dating now. Isn't it normal for a girlfriend to visit her boyfriend?" She asked, blinking at Karasu.
'Her acting is good to a scary degree.' (Y/n) thought as the room fell eerily silent.
"Are...are you guys ok?" She wondered out loud as the boys had unreadable expressions. Behind her, Isagi was holding back an enraged Bachira, while Nagi was doing the same with Reo. Barou just blankly stared at (Y/n)'s form.
"Oopss... you really didn't tell them..." The older Chigiri chuckled as (Y/n) slowly nodded her head.
"Yeah- Chigiri, are you alright?" She asked, looking at her teammate's pale face. The younger said nothing as he blinked at the two a few times.
'This can't be for real...'

Aaa! Your Kabru x reader was really nice! May I request a Holm x Reader where the reader helps him when he freezes up in rapid situations?
pick-me-up
…ft! holm kranom x gn! reader
…tags! pre-relationship, fluff, a little banter, reader knows some magic, some magic lore i may or may not have made up
…word count! 1167
…notes! people who are madly in love with side characters are truly god’s strongest soldiers. i hope i characterized your man correctly!!
As close as you and Holm were, neither of you really seemed to idealize one another too much. Being in the dungeon, you had to be aware of all your teammates’ strengths and flaws, regardless of personal opinion. When it came to the gnome you called your closest friend, even he didn’t deny it — he did not operate well under pressure.
Considering that you were in a place where foes could ambush you at any moment, anybody could see why this wasn’t a great quality to have. From being unable to save your friends to even being unable to save yourself, there were a lot of potential consequences to locking in place during the middle of combat. Something had to be done about it sooner rather than later, and if he had to ask someone, he’d rather it be you than anybody else.
The plan was formulated during some downtime the party had — something to stop Holm from going stock still whenever he felt overwhelmed. Luckily, your companion already had an idea for you.
“I figure the easiest way to deal with this’ll be using magic.”
You nodded. Not much of an obstacle, since you already had at least a few spells under your belt.
“As long as you have a rudimentary understanding of magic, it’s not gonna be too hard to get down.” For a moment, the gnome deliberated, wondering how to explain the concept to you. “You know how healing magic can hurt sometimes?”
With a grimace, you shook your head in understanding. Rin and Holm were pretty good about that sort of thing, but there had been more than a few occasions in past parties where healing and injury hurt even more than obtaining it. Seeing that you were familiar with what he was saying, the man continued.
“Well, that’s actually how healing magic is by default. When it doesn’t hurt, that’s because the caster is using a separate spell to numb your sensations.” As you listened, your mouth formed a little ‘o’ shape to show your interest. “Naturally, you can alter people’s sensations with magic in other ways, too.”
“Oh,” you would interject, “so I could use magic to make you more….focused?”
“Not quite, but yes.” At your approximation, he held up his index finger. “I was thinking you could use just a little bit of mana to sort of perk me up, almost like a spike of adrenaline to set me back in motion again.” His hand then lowered, turning over so his palm faced upward. “It’s pretty simple, just transferring mana through touch like you would with a healing spell.”
“I can do that, no problem!”
Ah, he was still looking at you, even after you said that… was there still more he wanted to share? When your eyes wandered down to the hand he held out, embarrassment that you hadn’t realized sooner quickly washed over you.
“Ah, you wanted to practice?” At first, you feared that your slow uptake had caused Holm some annoyance, but the relaxed smile on his face didn’t give way in the slightest. He seemed almost amused, really.
“Guess I should have been more clear about that, huh?”
The smirk on his face let you know that the question was most certainly rhetorical. Answering it would have been a moot point anyway, so instead you pouted and mumbled, “You’re always so snarky with me… not fair.”
Transferring mana was something you were fairly familiar with doing, so you were able to take the gnome’s hand into two of your own with little hesitation. Back when you’d just joined the party, the act of touching him made your cheeks heat up, but exposure to it over time had made the experience far from unfamiliar.
Just remember to envision the flow of the mana, you reminded yourself. Truly feel it, from your head to your toes, through your veins and bones, and out the tips of your fingers. Feel the current connecting you to him…
With your eyes trained on your joined hands, half lidded while you chanted the spell as instructed, you hardly noticed the way your companion’s ears actually twitched and perked up when the incantation was completed. Only when his whole body jolted did you shoot up in turn, concern pooling in your irises.
Said concern seemed to be unneeded, judging from the pleased look on his face. It was one that brought you relief, not just from the knowledge that you’d done well, but from the sight of him alone.
“That’s good, I think you’ve got it.” Even his voice seemed cheerier than before, and you weren’t quite sure if it was from the magic, your success, or both. Nonetheless, it was kind of nice to see his usually laid back demeanor become more enthusiastic from time to time. “So remember, the next time I get stunned in an overwhelming situation, use that if you’re near.”
“Of course!” You grinned, knowing you’d always be neat if you could help it.
That little practice session with Holm had been a few days ago by now. It took quite a while for a situation to actually arise that called for your little backup plan, but you most certainly kept your word.
Perhaps if it was just one stray suit of living armor, Rin or even Daya would’ve been able to dispatch it just fine. But in a whole hallway full of them with no way around, you could only tiptoe past them in hopes that maybe they’d ignore you, or even end up just being normal suits of armor. You should’ve known, of course, that the dungeon is no place for wishful thinking.
When the intimidating armored figures inevitably sprung to life, the first thing you did was look to Holm. Unsurprisingly, he was completely still by your side, eyes blown wide and mouth hanging open while he didn’t even shake or quiver.
Just do what you talked about. Transfer the mana as quickly as you can. You may have taken the latter half of that a bit too seriously judging by how, instead of taking his hand like you had during practice, you immediately reached for his face instead.
Only halfway through chanting the spell did you notice the slight tint on his cheeks, likely from embarrassment, and it took everything you had in you to continue the spell without stuttering from your own flustered state. After all, restarting the spell would take even longer, and that was pretty much the exact opposite of what was needed right now.
The second the spell had been completed, the both of you pulled away from one another, invigorated by both magic and embarrassment respectively. You heard Holm utter a quick thanks to you, but you were too busy feeling completely mortified by the way Kabru had just glanced at the two of you, seemingly more entranced by your interaction than the imminent peril you were dealing with.
You’d never hear the end of this, would you?
