…I thought Renesmee was part of the werewolves or was like one of Edward’s family members (like his mom or something). Doesn’t she get with the guy named Jacob or something? (And is Jacob an actually important character or no?)
I know that Edward has an egg outfit, the thing about vampires not being able to change forms, and that someone in the family has the ability to see the future. Oh, and that there’s a character named Alice who someone thinks is pretty
I have to admit, I have a bad memory so I don’t remember everything.
I’m sorry for offending you, and the other twilight fans with my lack of knowledge. (/lh)Anyway, I hope that you are doing well.
-⚙️
Oh boy where to even start--you're close, but not quite there. You've got the details, but they're not quite connected. But no worries! I can help with that!
I'll first say it's Emmett, not Edward, who has the thing with the eggs. Which is unique to the movie and not from the books, and is mostly a fandom joke. Emmett is one of Edward's adopted brothers and one of my favorite characters. And Alice, who Roisin (and I) think is pretty, is the one who can see the future--but conditionally. There's rules to it, which are actually really cool and interesting in my opinion
Back to Renesmee: she is one of Edward's family members, she's his biological daughter with Bella, though her name is similar to his adoptive mother's, Esme. Which is, like I said, because her name is literally a combo of Renee and Esme. Bella named their daughter ship names of their parents.
And yes, she is connected to the werewolves as well, which is another very significant thing in book 4. And yes, Jacob is an incredibly important character--he's the other point of the infamous love triangle. Have you ever heard of Team Edward vs Team Jacob? That's typically the one thing non-twilight people know about it, aside from the sparkling skin. I don't even have the space to get into all the reasons why's he's important here. But like, Bella, Edward, and Jacob are the trifecta of Most Important Characters
Alright, buckle up, I'm about to throw a lot at you. In the twilight universe, there's this thing with werewolves called imprinting. When a werewolf lays eyes upon the subject of their imprinting for the first time (they don't get to choose who, it's kinda like a soulmate situation?), their entire world shifts and this person becomes the center of their universe, they are irreversible drawn to and infatuated with this person. They are bonded, and the wolf becomes whoever their person needs them to be, completely devoted to their service.
It is not inherently romantic, as the imprintee may need a platonic partner more than romantic, or a caretaker, etc. And the wolf will fill that role without complaint and completely willing, not wanting anything more than what their imprintee wants.
It is also not limited by age. After a werewolf has shifted for the first time, any member of the opposite sex can be their potential imprintee. Which includes children. There are two instances of children being imprinted on in the saga--first by Quil (no, I did not name myself after him, that was a coincidence) upon Claire, who is a toddler, and second by Jacob upon newborn Renesmee.
This is why Smeyer clarifies the not inherently romantic part, saying that in a situation like Quil and Jacob's case, that's not at all what Claire or Renesmee need from them, and they instead serve brotherly/caretaker roles. However, it is also said that their relationships will change as the imprintee ages to suit changing needs, and at one point the question is raised as to "who would reject that level of commitment?" (paraphrased). Which is in reference to romance, implying that once the kids are older, it's assumed it will become romantic. And yes, even though werewolves also don't age so long as they're routinely shifting and will remain young, that is very fucked up and creepy. It's one of the most discussed, disliked parts of the series, and almost no one's happy about it. Like the entire fandom lives in fear that one day Smeyer's join to write a Jacob/Renesmee book
So Renesmee is a human-vampire hybrid, and she's tied to the werewolves. Which is really important to the plot for a variety of reasons. Werewolves and vampires don't get along, so having one as part of both worlds builds a bridge between them--and on a more personal level, allows a relationship between Bella and Jacob after her transformation, when they'd previously thought they'd never see each other again (because vampires and werewolves hate each other). And finally puts an end to Jacob's pining after Bella, because now he's not focused on her. They solved the love triangle by setting up the third with the other two's daughter...Also, Jacob's former pack intended to kill Renesmee because she's a creepy fucked up half-breed and breaks the truce, but the most sacred werewolf law is that you cannot kill the object of another's imprinting. So since Jacob imprinted on her (mere minutes after birth, there truly is no age limit) she's now save from being killed by the other werewolves.
There's more I could say, and this probably also raises even more questions, but I hope that helps clarify some of it! And that you're also doing well!

Me as vampire in Twilight <3
Oh boy I‘ve always wanted to see what kinda aesthetic I would have in Twilight. So I‘m making myself a little thingy thangy for my „Y/N“😭
Basic information:
Name: Roxanne Juliet Wittelsbach/Cullen
Nickname: Roxy (everyone), R.J (Emmett), Sucker (Jacob), Jewel (Esme and Carlisle), Juliet (Jasper), RoRo (Alice)
Age when thurned: 19 (1679)
Born: 1660
Reason of turning/dying: Plague
Aesthetic before turning:
Tumblr media
Aesthetic after turning:
Tumblr media
Her appearance:
She has black, wavy hair that reaches her waist
She‘s also seen wearing her hair in a high ponytail
Her eyes were dark brown as human, reddish/dark pink as a newborn, golden/yellow as vampire and black when thirsty.
She‘s 5‘6 tall.
Her skin is very pale (just as the other cullens).
She still has a little scar on her knee from the day she fell off her horse.
Personality:
She‘s a very confusing one. Sometimes you can‘t foresee what she‘s gonna do next. Wherever she is, there‘s also chaos. Rox is pretty much both, a lady and a freak - at least when it comes to fighting lmao.
Carlisle does get worried about her since she doesn‘t always follow the „household“ rules, means she sometimes goes hunting for human blood and that‘s where she‘s really good at.
However she is a very joyful and loving being who loves to be creative and help her siblings out (unless it‘s a stupid reason).
There‘s often episodes of her tRaGic background story, no just kidding. She often has nightmares about the time she got thrown onto the mountain of sick people. Seeing people die like that, was quite traumatising to her.
Skills:
She enjoys riding horses, hunting, expressing her creativity, shopping - especially with Alice, tarot reading and dancing.
Habits:
To control her thirst, she carries a bunch of lollipops in her bags and pockets - it‘s life saving.
She‘s daydreaming quite often
Friendships/Relationships:
Carlisle and Esme were her first two to ever find her under a bridge, that‘s how she got to the Cullen clan.
She‘s getting along very well with her adoptive siblings, especially with Emmett and Alice. Em is something like her real big brother who constantly keeps an eye on her.
Also she‘s very thankful to have Jasper who teaches her how to control herself, despite him having some troubles with it himself, though he‘s doing his best. And that‘s what makes him a good role model. Once the black haired girl even confessed her little crush on him, but he rejected her as kind as possible, because obviously he loved Alice. She accepted, even though it still hurts her.
Rosalie is a little thorn in her eye but there‘s always that one sibling who causes trouble, right? After an argument she‘d ask the blonde if she‘d like to go shopping lmao.
Edward is pretty much the only one who has a normal relationship with her. They‘re awkward sometimes but Ed is the one brother who sits down and helps her study, explains alot about living with humans, etc.
Roxanne isn‘t- ..hasn’t been the greates Bella fan. BUT the day she beat Emmet in arm wrestling was absolutely everything. She even calls Bella „Mom“ as a joke.
Jacob..oh boy. The first time she despised dogs. They have a very tough time together. That‘s the reason why Emmett is always near her. They can‘t stand each other but from time to time, there would be VERY weird tension between them, even if it‘s just staring at each other in disgust from miles away.
Quotes:
„I‘m not searching, I find.“
„I try to follow rules, but I‘m better at breaking them“
„I‘ll make it look like an accident.“
„What‘s the prob? Dog.“
„I need a houndred dreamcatchers in my room because of you.“
„The cards never lie.“

Why Percabeth Isn’t a Good Ship (Sorry 2x)
I’m definitely getting cancelled-
1. Annabeth is physically abusive. The fandom makes this point seem controversial and debatable, but it’s really not. The definition of abuse is hitting someone. Annabeth hit Percy. Therefore, Annabeth abused Percy. Is that really that hard to understand? Annabeth hit Percy for the first time in The Titan’s Curse when she, Percy, and Thalia were looking for the di Angelo siblings. She punched him in the gut when he asked her who he should ask to dance with him. Annabeth knows that Percy can be oblivious at times...but punishes him when it benefits her? The second time was in The Mark of Athena, when she judo-flipped him because she missed him. That’s...what?? Usually when people are worried about someone else, they hug or kiss them, not flip them over their shoulder. And yes Annabeth kissed him first, but the judo-flip was completely unnecessary. Annabeth punished Percy for ‘leaving’ her despite him being kidnapped and his memory wiped. And everyone’s like ‘But Percy didn’t feel any pain!!11!!1!’ The chapter wasn’t in his point of view, so that claim is a guess. Just cause he didn’t say ‘Ow’ doesn’t mean he wasn’t in pain. Also- Annabeth slammed him on a stone pavement on his back. That definitely hurts, even if Percy is a demigod, physically strong, and has gotten hurt a lot. There’s a difference between ‘playful hitting’ and actually hurting someone. Yes they trained a lot, but this isn’t training. This is Annabeth punishing Percy for being traumatized with yet another life-threatening quest and being kidnapped. I don’t remember Percy judo-flipping Annabeth after he saw her again when she got kidnapped in TTC. Besides, the Romans were about to take out their weapons when they saw Annabeth attack Percy, so if all of them thought it was an attack...it was most likely an attack. Even Annabeth said herself “I only attack my boyfriend like that”. The thing is, if it was Percy who flipped Annabeth over his shoulder and slammed her on her back or punched her in the gut, all the fans immediately would’ve freaked out and cancelled him, calling him a horrible and abusive boyfriend, but because it’s the girl hitting the guy, it’s fine apparently. Nothing wrong with it, right? And then Riordan (and the fandom) had the audacity to romanticize that abuse. Abuse isn’t a sweet, romantic gesture. Stop making it seem like it is. That’s disgusting.
2. Annabeth is also verbally abusive and toxic. Annabeth canonically lowered Percy’s self-esteem, constantly insulted him and his intelligence despite knowing he was insecure about it and always getting kicked out of schools and getting bad grades (even with her so-called ‘endearing’ name for him ‘Seaweed Brain’), and the overall idea of Percabeth is a super smart, pretty girl making a guy with below average intelligence feel insecure about himself. Percy’s self-esteem has plummeted since he met Annabeth and her behavior is never called out or even noticed, which implies some manipulation going on. Annabeth is shown to be extremely capable of manipulating her enemies and anyone else she pleases, and there are quite a few signs she’s using it against Percy (his feelings of obligation, fear, and guilt of and over her, questioning himself, having strings attached, always only thinking of her and no one else in his life, etc.), especially since Percy begins to gradually stop noticing Annabeth’s wrong and toxic behavior as the story progresses.
3. Annabeth only likes Percy cause he’s the chosen one. Annabeth only hung around Percy since The Lightning Thief cause she thought he was ‘the one’ and so she could finally go on a quest. She literally used Percy to go out to the mortal world and ‘prove herself’ cause really, all she cares about is glory, which is shown multiple times throughout the series with all her pride and ambitions. Plus the fact that Chiron made Annabeth swear on the River Styx that she would keep Percy from danger is a pretty clear sign she didn’t stick around him just cause she wanted to, but because she felt obligated to and cause it would benefit her. Take all of this and it’s kind of obvious Annabeth only hung around Percy cause he was the chosen one of the prophecy, a son of one of the Big Three, and was destined to go on multiple quests and play a big part in the mythological world, which is what she always wanted since book one.
4. It was forced. Since the beginning of book one, it was so obvious that Percy and Annabeth were going to get together that their relationship ended up being boring, dull, and flat. Riordan made it so obvious they were going to be a couple that nothing that happened to their relationship really mattered, cause everyone knew it would work out in the end (which is probably why everyone *wrongly* hated on Rachel) so what happened in between didn’t matter. Their relationship was the typical ‘male lead and female lead’, ‘bad boy trouble-maker skater and nerdy good girl’ power couple that was way too clear. And Riordan made it worse by pushing their relationship and shoving it into the readers’ faces way too much. In MoA Annabeth states that she’s always had a crush on Percy (since they were twelve) which immediately rips all the development their relationship (which was supposedly ‘friends to lovers’, but not anymore) had away. Riordan made up a bunch of honestly dumb scenarios that were legit cringe to make Percabeth seem like ‘OTP’ that really didn’t make sense.
5. It ruined their characters. Percy and Annabeth would’ve been way better off as just friends. After they got together in HoO, all their personality and everything else that made them independent was destroyed to make room for more ‘Percabeth’. All of Annabeth’s skills, bravery, intelligence, pride, ferocity, judgmentalism, and all the other traits and flaws that made her a well-written character were never utilized or even mentioned. All she thought about was Percy, and the same goes for him. His loyalty, sarcasm, humor, obliviousness, etc. disappeared to make room for arrogant Annabeth fanboy. In PJO, they were amazingly well-written and great role models for younger readers (especially Annabeth), but in HoO their characters were exclusively ‘Annabeth’s boyfriend’ and ‘Percy’s girlfriend’. Their characters were completely dependent on each other, and they were way better off as just friends.
6. Annabeth is way too possessive. And creepy. It’s fine and honestly normal for people to get jealous when another person likes someone they do, but Annabeth’s jealousy was downright creepy. Not only did she not know if her feelings for Percy were reciprocated or not, but she also didn’t know if Percy and Rachel liked each other, either. The very first time she met Rachel she immediately hated her. That’s not ‘I’m jealous cause this girl likes the guy I do’, that’s ‘I’m jealous cause the guy I like has another female friend’. She had no reason to believe that Rachel and Percy liked each other and has no say in who they can like, either. She thought that she and Percy absolutely had to be in a relationship and that he couldn’t even have friends with different genitals than him. And remember when Annabeth literally stalked Percy in The Sea of Monsters? Like when she creeped by his window, constantly watched him, and kept tabs on him just cause she ‘couldn’t find the right time’ to tell him something cause he was ‘never alone’ despite him being alone multiple times and despite the fact that she literally could’ve just knocked on his door like a normal person instead of creeping around his cabin and staring at him through the windows? Again- switch the roles. If it was Percy who was stalking Annabeth, everyone would’ve immediately called him a creep. If- according to Tumblr and almost everyone who read Twilight- Edward is a creep for stalking Bella, then Annabeth is a creep for stalking Percy.
7. It’s mostly fan love. Honestly, the fandom is the only thing that fuels Percabeth. Riordan just destroys it. He shoved it down the readers’ throats, forced it way too much with really dumb and honestly unrealistic scenarios, and made it abusive and toxic. On its own, Percabeth freaking sucks. The fandom’s version of Percabeth is 1000x better than whatever the hell Riordan was doing, but even that version is toxic. Like, I’ve seen way too many jokes about Annabeth hitting Percy (as if abuse is hilarious and amazing meme fuel and not an extremely sensitive topic that triggers multiple people who actually went through it). Half the time, the fandom fixes Percabeth and the other half of the time they over-glorify and ruin it. The fandom over exaggerates and over glorifies it way too much. It’s not that great of a relationship, to be honest. Most of y’all only like it in the first place cause Riordan made it canon.
8. It was cringey. Like I said above, Riordan wrote some really dumb scenes for Percabeth. I mean- the matching gray streaks in their hair despite Atlas and Artemis not getting any? Percy’s tie to the mortal world while bathing in the River Styx being Annabeth and not his mom, Grover, etc.? Percy only remembering Annabeth, the girl he’s only known for four years and not his mom, the only woman who actually cared for and took care of him or Grover, his best friend who protected and continuously cared about him? Percy turning down immortality only for Annabeth and not even bothering to mention the pain of leaving behind his life, friends, family, memories, etc. behind if he accepted it? The romanticized judo-flip? The whole ‘dark-haired rebellious bad boy/nerdy blonde good girl who can be bad’ trope? Even the boring predictability of Percabeth is cringe.
9. It’s a bad influence on younger readers. Basically the lesson of Percabeth is ‘Once you get a love interest nothing else in your life matters’. Besides that one single scene that took like three lines in The Son of Neptune, Percy never even thought of his own mom, nor did he think about any of his friends or passed allies like his dad, Rachel, Grover, Paul, Silena, Luke, Ethan, Bob/Iapetus, Tyson, Calypso, Charles, Michael (whose death he accidentally caused), Bianca, Zoë, etc. Even when in Tartarus with the curse of the Arai being forced to remember all the people he forgot and feeling guilty about abandoning Bob and Calypso, all he thought about was Annabeth. Even when faced with the man who broke the heart of the girl who sacrificed herself for him, Percy didn’t even think of her, only his jealousy of Jason. Same thing with Annabeth. She never thought about her mom, Luke, Thalia, her step-mom or step-brothers, etc. It was all about Percy. Cause yes, Riordan, that’s exactly the lesson you should teach your younger readers- forget everyone you ever knew the moment you get a partner. Besides that, it also teaches readers that being rude to people who like the same person as you is completely okay cause no one will care and once you start being rude, bitter, and possessive you’ll get exactly what you want (that’s literally what happened, with Annabeth and with Calypso, too). He also teaches that after you get a partner, everything that makes you you will disappear and you’ll be completely dependent on them and nothing in your life will matter, even your own independent life and personality.
10. The fandom tries to excuse and explain Annabeth’s behavior??? What??? Since when does explaining and excusing hitting people put you in the right again? And the excuses aren’t even good, too! Percabeth fans use-  Annabeth was full of emotions/mad and doesn’t know how to deal with emotions. Annabeth really loved Percy. It was only one time. Annabeth was worried about Percy and mad that she left him. Annabeth didn’t mean to hurt him. Annabeth didn’t know what she was doing cause she was full of emotions. ??? Annabeth was full of emotions/mad and doesn’t know how to deal with emotions- Annabeth was seventeen years old, the daughter of the wisdom goddess, and is supposedly the smartest character in the series who is shown to be extremely good at reading people and their emotions. And y’all are really trying to say she doesn’t know how to deal with her emotions?  Annabeth really loved Percy- SO? A mother might really love her child, does that excuse her for hitting them for dumb reasons? It was only one time- actually, it was twice, and so what? If someone was slapped across the face ‘only one time’, does that mean they weren’t abused? ‘Abuse’ doesn’t mean ‘hit constantly’, it means ‘hit’. If someone was hit, they were abused. Is that really not a known fact in this fandom? Annabeth was worried about Percy and mad that she left him- last time I checked, people didn’t hit others when they were worried about them. If I was worried that my friend was going to get hurt, I wouldn’t hurt them myself. That literally makes no sense. And again- Percy didn’t leave Annabeth. He was kidnapped. Do y’all not know the definition of that, either? Annabeth didn’t mean to hurt him- yes, cause that’s why she decided to flip him over her shoulder, slam him on a stone pavement on his back, and punish him for ‘leaving her’.  Annabeth didn’t know what she was doing cause she was full of emotions- Annabeth??? the daughter of the wisdom goddess??? not knowing what she’s doing??? huh??? I mean, would any of you really, legitimately try to use any of these dumb excuses to excuse a man from hitting his wife? Hopefully not. And if you did, you would immediately get hated on and legit cancelled. So what makes this any different? Also- I see the excuse ‘Annabeth didn’t know Percy lost his Achilles Heel and thought he was still invincible’. Under different circumstances I’d accept that, but Annabeth knew that Percy’s Achilles Heel was on the small of his back...BUT SHE SLAMMED HIM ON HIS BACK. If Percy hadn’t lost the Achilles Heel, Annabeth literally would’ve killed him. Abusive enough for y’all? Or is attempted murder excusable and still ‘OTP’?
11. They had no chemistry whatsoever. Was I the only one who felt...absolutely no chemistry between Percy and Annabeth? Like some of their moments were cute, their friendship was really good, and they had a lot of potential, but they didn’t feel right for each other. Remember- opposites don’t attract (they just argue, and no one has ‘another half’ that needs to ‘complete them’, everyone is their own person), they cancel each other out. I mean, Reyna and Annabeth had more chemistry in that one chapter of the New Rome tour in MoA than Percy and Annabeth had in 12+ books. They’re just...not right for each other, I guess.
I’m definitely getting cancelled-
Edit 2: Sorry if I offended anyone with that last note. Just wanted to let y’all know that I am not here to start any drama, hurt anyone, or disrespect any Percabeth shippers. I respect your opinions 100% and only ask you do the same for me. Like I literally only wrote this at 12 am when I was bored and had nothing else to do and couldn’t sleep (same goes for pretty much everything else I write about PJ). Besides, why argue and start drama over dumb stuff like that when we can just find something we agree on? Don’t like Piper McLean? Let’s talk about that. Think Reyna Avila Ramirez-Arellano is a queen? Let’s talk about that. Think Nico di Angelo is freaking amazing? Let’s talk about that. Think Theyna would be adorable? Let’s talk about that. Want someone to vent to about writer’s block? Why the hell not? Want random writing advice and tips for writer’s block? Sure, I got plenty. Instead of arguing and starting beef over trivial fictional ships.

My Rant About Twilight (And Why I Hate Edward Cullen…)
So back in 2005 and onward, Stephanie Meyer introduced into the world her Twilight four book saga. Since then, this has become a staple for Young Adult Fantasy Romance that every young teenage girl had read and sided with either Team Jacob or Team Edward. I used to be a fan but I was definitely Team Jacob or the van that should’ve killed her. Or that freaky vampire dude in the first book. I had left this fandom and didn’t want to go back. It was a stupid and toxic fandom that I didn’t want to be apart of since I wasn’t into vampires but rather werewolves and witches. This also became a five movie franchise that even made the fandom even crazier with Taylor Lautner's shirtless moments and horribly humoring acting from Kristin Stewart. All of my middle school friends were divided on both the book version and the cinematic version as well.
Tumblr media
In summary, the four book saga is about Edward Cullen and Bella Swan’s relationship that went on for two years. However, Edward was gone for a good seven months. A lot of people might fight me but Edward was the worst character in the entire series. Not even the antagonists. He was ultimately bad.
Tumblr media
Let me explain before y'all attack me…
Edward Cullen is a 107 year old vampire when we first are introduced to him and he was acting creepy. He was being a predator to a minor. He was really cold and distant from Bella. He even told her she smelled bad. Sure he saved her from the van and exposing the fact that he is a supernatural being that is supposed to be in hiding gets less attention from the humans. He put Bella at risk by being friends with her and deciding to hang out with her despite that it was a bad idea. They take her with the rest of the Cullen clan to go play baseball and then the discount and scary black eye peas show up (lol their names are James, Laurant, and Victoria). They smell Bella and begin to hunt her. The Cullen clan took Bella far away and didn’t allow her to say anything to her dad other than she was going back to live with her mom which is another bad thing that Edward made her do because of his own selfish decisions. This is only book one sadly.
Forgot to include that her going out with Edward caused this moment V with her dad so minus points with Edward automatically.
Tumblr media
In book two, Edward decided to break up with her and didn’t even bother taking her home. No. HE LEFT HER IN THE FOREST. She became suicidal since Edward decided to leave town for her safety and his own sanity. She became close with Jacob and yet she couldn’t stop thinking about him. This made her jump off a cliff causing Edward’s adopted sister Alice to see that she was dead. Edward decided to go expose himself to humans in hopes of getting the attention of the evil yet ominous group of vampires called the Volturi, whose sole existence is to exterminate any vampire that causes chaos in the human world. She goes to stop him and has to make a deal with these horrible scary vampire groupies that she would become a vampire. Edward doomed her very existence again with his selfish decisions.
Tumblr media
In the third book, Bella is in danger again because in the first book he killed James and this made Victoria, his love and partner, pissed off. Laurant comes to warn them all and goes away. Jacob tries to be the good friend and protect Bella by telling her that he is the better option but Edward stops their friendship (and possible relationship) by hosting a pissing contest. At the end of the third book, Bella is engaged to Edward. I fucking hated this. I wanted her with her best friend since diapers to be with her instead of this cold lifeless blood sucking monster. Eh. Edward rejected Bella’s sexual prowess since he said and I quote “could easily break and kill you” during sex... Only pass he gets XD
Tumblr media
In the fourth one, Jacob tries to convince Bella that she is going to be making the worst decision of her life by marrying Edward. He is and was right. Marrying Edward would lead to her being bruised and pregnant at the end of their very short honeymoon. Their honeymoon was her trying to be smexy but couldn’t be. In the film Kristin Stewart’s acting was just horribly funny and yet awkward. Not only that but the demonic seed that made a demon spawn in her decides to tear her apart like a kid breaking open the pinata at a birthday party. She was forced into becoming a vampire to save her life. (Do not read the book or watch if one has a weak stomach because in it was a very graphic description of how Edward broke her water in order to save the demon child in the movie it's also nasty)
Tumblr media
All in all, Edward was gaslighting and was manipulating her throughout. He couldn't stand that Jacob was the better person and did things that made her ultimately be forever in a doomed relationship cause now she’s married to Edward, their both vampire parents with a child that is half human and half vampire. I hate Edward and I thought Stephanie Meyer, if you're reading this, do not write any more for this series. If you do, write an alternative ending where Bella married Jacob instead. I will be gladly handing over my wallet. Lol. jk. So done with Twilight.

(Part 1/2) Maria (like Victoria, Caius, and other "antagonists") has always been one of my most disliked characters, but it was only recently that I saw posts saying she's Mexican so it's racist to dislike her. As ridiculous as it probably sounds, I didn't even recall that's she's actually Mexican, not just a vampire who's settled in Mexico. I just remembered her as a pretty white woman from the Eclipse movie.
Tumblr media
mexican is not a race, so you can’t be “racist” towards mexicans, but you can be prejudiced towards mexicans (like...idk if you’ve ever heard of him, but trump?? great example of a prejudiced person against mexicans). latinx people can be of any race, ethnicity, or ancestry. depending on the person (like if they’re afrolatino), prejudice IS racism. the thing is, you can dislike maria without it automatically being prejudiced to dislike her. as long as, like you said, you dislike victoria, caius, and other characters who aren’t mexican for the same reason you dislike maria. the reason disliking maria becomes such a charged topic is because there have been and there are still people in the fandom who will praise someone like victoria and appreciate her vendetta, but then will bash maria because she “manipulated” their fave, jasper, a literal confederate soldier. at that point, it does become prejudiced to dislike maria. it’s also important to note that maria is a mexican character written by a white woman with little to no regard for any POC. we know this based on the racism integrated into the whole series (making jasper a confederate soldier, someone who supported, defended, and fought for the racist agenda of the south & was so eager to do so that he lied about his age to join early, the “perfect” characters in the saga being described as white with white backgrounds, her insistence on the cullens being casted as white people, only acquiescing to catherine hardwicke’s attempt for more diversity with some of the human students and specifically the villains like laurent, her treatment of the native characters in general which is so extensive like i can’t even just name it off easily/quickly in an ask. @vampireguarddogs has a great post where you can see a bunch of examples), so her account and characterization of maria is a little bit unreliable in that the fact she made a character who “manipulated” one of the cullens – the “good” guys in the series according to bella – mexican. that automatically imparts a negativity on her character because of how reading the books ur supposed to be biased towards liking the cullens. bella and the cullens are white, but this negative character is one of the only latin/hispanic characters in the series. (i know there’s like carmen & eleazar, but they’re pretty white washed). so we are supposed to accept that maria is just evil for her treatment of jasper when jasper again... is a confederate soldier. i understand that this series is super problematic which is why it’s complicated to like it or like most of the characters, but if we pick and choose what to like about certain characters, we can’t leave maria in the dust by choosing to stan edward or jasper or rosalie, but then being picky towards maria and what qualifies these characters to become “likable” again. like if we can acknowledge that rosalie was racist towards the pack (calling them “dogs”) but still admire her for being a badass, there’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to see why maria could also be a badass cool character. especially because if you look into her backstory, you see a woman that rises from pretty dire circumstances. she disobeyed the man who created her by choosing to independently create her own coven, her family and lover were destroyed leaving her alone, and she fought for her territory against the other southern vampires. (i may be a little off because it’s been forever since i read the twilight guide lol) i know @su-angelvicioso specifically is a big maria fan & she’s afrolatina so she can provide a lot more opinions on why maria is a cool character & can probably offer more insight on the overall question of your ask too!
anyways, i always understood & recognized maria in the movie (and books) as being mexican. in the books, she’s described as having a “slight olive tone to her pale skin, denoting a darker skin pigmentation in her human life.” which i mean that in itself is stupid and racist/prejudiced of smeyer to imply achieving physical perfection would bleach your skin of its pigment and melanin but. that’s not what this ask is about lmfao. the name maria is of latin origin (while this may not be exclusive, i think white people tend to have variations like mary and marie). it’s also a pretty stereotypical name to select for your only mexican character but i mean literally all of my tías’ first name is maria so imma keep my mouth shut on this one hehe. for real only my mom is not named maria bc to my abuelita they were like stop. enough is enough. u cannot name this child the same thing. she is claudia and claudia ONLY. she also does look like “not white” to me because of the features/colorings that are stereotypically considered latin/hispanic, but not all latinx or hispanic people have this coloring. the actress could be considered white passing since her skin is pretty light. also, the actress is colombian, not mexican.
ultimately, despite coloring and features that are considered stereotypically mexican/latin/hispanic, there actually are no traditional features that are indicative of a mexican/latin/hispanic person. there are white latinos, afrolatinos, indigenous latinos, etc. so there’s really no specific way to look at a person and be able to tell that they are latin or hispanic or not. (also not all hispanic/latin people overlap. latin includes brazil but excludes spain & hispanic includes spain but excludes brazil)
however, i will bring up the point that while a lot of latinx people can be considered “white passing,” it is important to note that with surgery and filler and tanning and trends, a lot of white people today are beginning to look more like POC. it’s not that non white people look like white people, it’s that white people are manipulating their appearance & looking like people of color.

The rise and fall of the Twilight-Craze
Let me tell you about my first encounter with Twilight - it was a “read”-week in 6th or 7th grade, and I picked up a very new book at the library of my elementary school. So I started reading it. I remember reading the first chapters, but never finishing it. I remember how I found the protagonist to be very whiny, and very disrespectful too.
Also, at this point I also didnt know that this would be a vampire-novel, as the backcover of the book - this being the first danish translation/edition of the novel - never mentioned it.
Anyway, afterwards, I forgot about it pretty quickly.
Flashforward to a year later.
I´m over in Germany, visiting my grandmother, and I buy some books - the german translation of Twilight being among them - and then I start reading it later in the fall. While I did think that the name Stephenie Meyer sounded familiar, I could not remember why. At this point I should also mention that 6th and 7th grade was a very traumatising period for me, and I had by that point pretty much blacked much of that period out of my mind, focusing on the now and future. And yeah, I was 14, so there was still much to come.
Anywway, as I start reading the novel later in the fall, I suddenly remembered that one book I never finished back in 6th or 7th grade - and am kinda amused. Yeah, anyway, I still found Bella Swan to be a very whiny girl, and I actually liked the novel, and honestly did not think that much about it afterwards. Though I did learn not long after that a movie would come out later that year, I - while I was looking forward to it - did not imagine that it would start a big craze, that I later learned from the Wikipedia article of the South Park episode The Ungroundable to be named “The Twilight Craze”.
I enjoyed the movie, actually - I watched it with my best friend (who went on to become the biggest Twilight fan I know, at least for as long as the craze lasted) and it is a memory that I like to think back on. I still think that both Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson did a good job in these movies - though more on that later.
So, flash forward to the fall of 2009, where I am in Thailand with my parents. On the way to Thailand - as we went through Germany -  I bought the subsequent books New Moon and Eclipse. I read these books very quickly, and my mom as well.
New Moon - and I´m talking about the novel here - did introduce some rather interesting ideas, such as the Volturi. One thing, however, already stuck me back then - it was the fact that Meyer completely distorted the actual folklore of an actual native american tribe, the Quileutes, for her own way, and it seemed really disrespectful back then already. And as for the Volturi, despite being mentioned early on, we didn´t really get that much from them - though as for the climax of the novel, I was pretty disturbed by the fact that the Volturi let in hundreds of tourists into their palace just to eat them after closing the doors. While that scenario is already pretty much horrifying, what really disturbed me was that Bella - and by extension, Stephenie Meyer herself - immediately forgot about it after it happened and moved on with the plot. That, and another thing - are we really gonna accept it as okay that one from Jacobs tribe physically hurt and mutilated his wifes face after wolfing out, because he feels sorry and he forgave her? It already seemed really wrong back then.
What I also noticed was the fact that Bella Swan essentially only hung out with Jacob so she could play with his feelings, and so she could get into dangerous situations so she could get these hallucinations of Edward. With that said - I also could not really see what was so special about the relationship between Bella and Edward.
Then I read Eclipse - and one thing stuck out to me there: it´s the fact that the mentioned backstories of the individual Cullens - Carlisles past with the Volturi, Rosalie seeking out and killing her rapists, Jaspers backstory from the american civil war (as I later learned from Das Mervins sporkings, she got a lot of stuff wrong there, to put it mildly), or how Alice was abandoned by her family in an asylum and pretended she was dead, where she ultimately got turned - all of these backstories are a hundred times way more interesting than the perks of being Bella Swan and her love life!
Also, I immediately knew that the vampire army was a work of Victoria, and that it was to kill Bella - only upon reading the sporkings by Das Mervin did I learn that it was supposed to be a “twist”.
On the way back from Thailand I bought Breaking Dawn shortly before leaving Germany, but I never finished it - you know why? Because some of my classmembers spilled the tea on the spoiler that Jacob imprints on Bellas daughter. I was just grossed out. I later learned that the book is what turned many fans off Twilight - and the imprinting thing was one of the reasons why, in many cases.
Anyway, then a few weeks after returning from Thailand, I went in to see New Moon with two of my best friends, and it is a memory that I cherish very much.
And that was the time when the Twilight Craze really, really went off - with all the cringeworthy “Are you Team Edward, or Team Jacob?” stuff, and how out of touch with reality some of the fangirls seemed - there were apparently some who really believed that Edward Cullen exists, and so much more. I still didnt think too much about it, as I had other things to look for.
Though - despite liking the movies and the books at the time - I really, really enjoyed a lot of the parodies on the Twilight Craze, like this one from Smosh. The thing is, that Twilight became the probably most parodied thing in the 2009-2010 period. And that may have been one of the things that killed the craze - but more on that later.
Then, in the summer of 2010 - one of the best summers of my life - I was in Miami with my family. And then my best friend and I got to watch Eclipse in a gigantic cinema in a very big mall in Miami Beach - that was unforgettable. And I also remember that I wasnt the only one who laughed over Taylor Lautners overacting. Good to know.
During that same summer, I remember then seeing a new book by Stephenie Meyer in the bookstores - “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner”. As this was before my friend and I saw the movie, I myself did not think that much about it; but I then later realised that Bree was the girl killed by the Volturi at the end of Eclipse, and that the novel - as the title already states - was about her time with the army of newborns. That sounded like an actual interesting plot. Shortly before watching Eclipse, the trailer for “Vampires Suck” came out - and the trailer was very funny, way more funny than the actual movie.
So....Eclipse was a huge hit that summer. But you know what that also was? The end of the Twilight Craze itself. In fact, it can also be compared with another contemporary hit of the 2009-2010 period - Avatar. While that was the biggest hit of the winter of 2009-2010, as soon as spring started, everyone forgot about it. And while Eclipse itself got a lot of mixed reviews, like the preceding movies of the franchise, it simply was the end of the craze itself.
I think here are some of the factors:
Twilight was pretty much EVERYWHERE in the media in 2009-2010, not only from advertisement, product placements, and posters, but also from parodies, not to mention how often Twilight was mentioned in actual news broadcast. In other words, people got tired of it - not just the people who werent even fans of the franchise in the first place, but also more moderate fans, like I considered myself then. And yeah - now thinking back on it, I was also pretty tired of seeing Twilight everywhere even before Eclipse was released in the cinemas.
And another thing is this: The Second Life of Bree Tanner. While the novel was released in early June of 2010, mere weeks before the movie came out, it was very bestselling, because of the Twilight Craze. And the reason why it was released was most likely because even Stephenie Meyer herself had a feeling that the craze soon would end, and had to publish something Twilight-related in advance, so she could be talked about again. Officially, the novella started as a short story to tie in with her illustrated guide for Twilight.
I bought the book later that summer while in Germany - and I found it not very well written, and forgot about it very shortly afterwards. Even my friend found it forgettable. I recently read the sporking of the book on Das Mervin to be reminded of what actually happened - and boy, does it suck! And here is my point - many Twilight fans probably realised with that book that Stephenie Meyer isnt that good a writer. (A lot of people had the same reactions to “The Host” - including me, who never finished the novel because of that)
And then, as soon as the summer of 2010 was over, Twilight was over. People had enough.
I know that the final film was - because of Harry Potter - split in two parts (a decision that was continued when The Hunger Games were made into movies, and a decision that ultimately killed the Divergent franchise), and was released in the winter of 2011 and 2012. I watched both of them - and I was immediately struck by this in 2012: While there of course were trailers and posters for these films, there was simply not the same exposure to the franchise as back in 2009-2010.
And by the time of the release of Breaking Dawn part 2 in the winter of 2012, I had already been redpilled regarding Mary Sues, and had a field day of counting all the Mary Sue points in the movies.
Yeah, Bella Swan is one of the biggest Mary Sues in existence, and was created as a way of Stephenie Meyer wanting to live out an idealised version of her highschool years.
That, and Stephenie Meyer isnt that great a writer - just read the sporking on Das Mervin.
During the reading of the sporkings, I also realised the way how Meyer demonises every blonde - from Lauren to Rosalie, and how Leah Clearwater is demonised for being an independent woman who doesnt bow down to Bella Sue and who actually does something, unlike Bella Sue.
Now, onto the thing with Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Both are very good actors, and I think it is sad to see how haunted they were in the past decade of Twilight. Many have accused Stewart of being a bad actress because of Twilight (not to mention that they haven´t seen her brilliant performance in Speak) - I disagree. Kristen Stewart showed what a spoiled, ungrateful and dull Sue Bella is, and Pattinson what a creepy, controllable Stalker Edward is. And I´m now especially happy to see how especially Pattinson is recovering now, as Kristen Stewart did get to prove herself in movies like Camp X-Ray.
Anyway, that was my rant on the Twilight Craze.

Note
how can i make a plot feel more like a plot rather than just things happening to characters ? i have a general idea for the plot but 1) i dont feel its strong enough 2) i dont know where to end my story (character travels to an unfamiliar place, learns about the place and then what ?)
Fleshing Out Plot Ideas
If you’re writing a short story, original or fan-fiction, you really just need a point or story goal to tie it all together. What are you trying to accomplish with this story? What are you trying to illustrate about the world or the character to the reader? When you figure out what that is, it’s easier to hammer a plot into something that accomplishes that goal.
If you’re writing longer fiction, such as a novella or novel, there are a few things that need to happen in order to take your idea from a “plot idea” to an actual plot:
1. Character Arc/Internal Goal - Your protagonist or their world (or both) needs to transform throughout the story. Most stories follow a positive change character arc, meaning that something negative about the protagonist transforms into something positive by the end of the story. For example: a character who is timid and afraid of the world learns to be bold and courageous.  This thing that needs to change for the better represents their internal goal. Sometimes, with darker stories, the protagonist will go through a negative change arc, meaning that they start out with positive traits (ie: they’re confident and successful) which, through the course of the story, turn negative (ie: they become insecure and unsuccessful). In this case, they may have a lofty or undesirable internal goal which precipitates their downfall. Once in a while, you’ll see stories with static character arcs, meaning that the protagonist themselves doesn’t change, but they create change in their world or another character. In this case, their internal goal is represented by their need to help/change the other character or the world.
2. Inciting Incident/External Goal - Longer stories can’t just be a bunch of random events that happen to your character. These events need to help bring about whatever change you decided upon in #1. The best way to kick off this life changing chain of events is to turn your character’s world upside down. This is the inciting incident... the moment when something happens that changes your protagonist’s normal life forever. In The Hunger Games, it was Prim’s name being chosen at the Reaping, which caused Katniss to volunteer in her place. In Harry Potter, it was Harry getting his letter to Hogwarts. In Twilight, the inciting incident was multi-part, beginning with Bella’s move to Forks, meeting the Cullens, and ultimately figuring out Edward was a vampire. In response to this life disrupting incident, your protagonist needs to form a goal... willingly or because they have no other choice... and this goal is what’s going to carry the rest of the plot. This is called the “external goal” because this isn’t anything to do with what’s inside themselves, this is a real, tangible goal they want to accomplish. In Twilight, Bella’s external goal was to stay alive despite the nomads being after her. In The Hunger Games, Katniss, too, wanted to survive so she could go home and take care of her mom and sister. In The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Frodo needs to take the ring to Mount Doom so it can be destroyed.
3. Antagonist/Obstacles - Your story also needs to have an antagonist or antagonistic force. This can be a literal “bad guy” with “henchmen,” it could be a creature like a rampaging dragon or escaped dinosaurs, a natural disaster like a flood or asteroid, or it could even be your character themselves, wherein they’re their own worst enemy. Whoever or whatever your antagonist is, they or it will create obstacles that make it harder for your character to reach their goal. If the inciting incident was an alien invasion, and your protagonist’s external goal is to escape the occupied city to reach a huge safe zone the where the Earth military is amassing, the aliens (and any agents acting on behalf of the aliens) will be the source of problems or obstacles that your protagonist has to overcome on their way to achieving their goal. Sometimes they will be successful in overcoming these obstacles, sometimes they’ll fail and have to try again or find a workaround. But this struggle to overcome obstacles on the way to achieving the external goal is what creates the action of the story.
4. The Final Showdown - Somewhere in the last quarter of your story, your protagonist is going to have to confront the antagonist/antagonistic force in a big final showdown. If your antagonist is an evil wizard, this will be the big magic battle. If your antagonist is a fire-breathing dragon tormenting your protagonist’s village, this is the moment when your protagonist is going to unleash everything they’ve got to try and kill the dragon once and for all. If the antagonist is a bunch of zombies in a zombie apocalypse, this is the moment when your character leads all the zombies into a field and sets it ablaze. Whatever happens, this is also the moment for your character to demonstrate how they’ve changed. For example, if they were timid and afraid of the world at the beginning, this is the moment where they prove they’re bold and courageous.
5. The Denouement and Ending - In most stories, the protagonist is going to be successful in vanquishing or surviving the antagonist/antagonistic force, though in some stories the protagonist will fail. Either way, the denouement is where all the dust settles following the final showdown. Injuries are tended to, losses are mourned, a promise to rebuild is made. Then, the very last thing we should see is what your character’s life is like afterward. In the beginning of the story, before the inciting incident, we see the character in their normal world, before everything turns upside down. This is the opposite of that. Now you show what our character’s life is like after their world was turned upside down and they tried to right it again. In many stories, this will be a happy ending. I some stories, this will simply be a hopeful ending. In fewer stories, it may be an all out sad or tragic ending. If you take all of these things into account, they should guide you not only through the action of the story, but lead you to a natural ending as well. Good luck!

I Saw It In A Movie One Time (ch.7) - Cause and Effect
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Chapter 3
Chapter 4
Chapter 5
Chapter 6
“She has the right to know. She’s the one the red-head wants,” Jacob said menacingly, inches from Edwards face intensively. Edward shut his eyes in defeat.
“Victoria?” Bella questioned, “Alices’ vision.” She spared a glance at Edward who’s gaze left the floor. He took her to Jacksonville not just for Bella to see her mom, but to prevent her from knowing that Victoria was hunting her
“I was trying to protect you,” he defended.
“By lying to me.” She accused. “You,” She turned to Jacob, “Why haven’t you called me back?”
Jacob contemplated on his answer but decided to go with the truth, “I had nothing to say.”
“Well, I have tons hold up—” Bella said.
Edward attempted to stop her though she resisted. She climbed onto Jacobs’ motorcycle, wrapped her arms around his torso and Jacob accelerated away.
Upon arriving to Emily’s house, the wolf pack decided to embarrass him about his “obsessive inner monologue” as Embry called it. Their energy was drastically different from the Cullens. The wolves all piled out of the door as if all four of them could fit through at once, and even skipped the stairs.
“I wish Bella would call,” Paul teased, shaking Jacob’s shoulder
“I wish Bella wouldn’t call,” Jared added
“Maybe I should call Bella,” Embry said
“Maybe I should call Bella and hAng up!” Quil finished
The pack laughed like hyenas until Leah stormed out. Needless to say, she wasn’t pleased to see Bella at all. With that, She phased and disappeared off into the forest. Bella tried her best to be friendly with Leah. After all, she’d never even met the first ever female shape-shifter. Though her attempt had failed upon hearing that Jacobs thoughts about Bella were “torturing” him.
After greeting the entire wolf pack, Jacob and Bella made their way to his garage. As they were walking, Jacob explained to her that Leah was the first woman ever to shift and that her brother shifted as well. He was eighteen.
“Does he not hang out with the rest of you?” Bella asked him, referring to the pack. She’d seen all of them except for Seth.
“Yeah he does. He’s just out on patrol right now,” Jacob said.
Bella’s brows furrowed in confusion, “Patrol? This early in the day?”
“Yeah theres this other girl that Victoria’s hunting down. Alice told us about it so now we’re standing watch incase she ever comes around. She did though, while you were in Jacksonville,” Jacob explained.
“Wait,” Bella stopped walking and Jacob mimicked her action, “is this that girl that knows about you guys?” Bella asked
“Yeah, why?” Jacob asked
“Edward told me about her... He said she knew about like, you guys and all of the vampire-werewolf thing,” she told him.
“Shapeshifter,” he corrected, “and I haven’t talked to her. I saw her once when my dad was buying beer. She’s been around for a while,” Jacob shrugged.
“We should go meet her,” Bella proposed
Jacob shook his head, “I thought we were gonna hang out?” He he paused, realizing how desperate he could have sounded, “Also, Sam told us not to talk to her I mean— Carlisle also said not to talk to her,”
“You’re gonna listen to Carlisle?” Bella egged.
Jacob sighed, “I mean, it’s Sam’s orders too.”
“I wanna meet her. Let’s go,” she said, “You don’t have to talk to her. I’ll do it.”
“No. We’re not doing that. Seth and Leah will see us then I get in trouble,” Jacob concluded.
“Fine. I’ll find a way later on then,” Bella said, turning around to follow him.
-
Leah arrived next to Seth with a huff, displeased to find him in human form. She was meant to take his place since he’d been on watch for the past hour and a half.
“What?” He asked her, “Nothing‘s happened I mean—” Seth began to explain but was cut off my his older sisters’ growl of disapproval. Seth came to patrol in his human form since there was nothing suspicious going on, though his sister begged to differ, “Fine,” he reluctantly agrred
Seth ran off, phased, then immediately returned. By the time he returned, Kai’s shift ended and Leah was already making her way back to Emily’s. Seth decided to wait between the trees to make sure she was safe before they left.
Kai spotted the two wolves in the forest across the parking lot. One silver wolf making a turn back to where it came from, and the other stayed watching over her. Kai paused after walking out of the store. Should she approach them? After the mental breakdown she had the night before, she decided to put an end to all of their secret watch-overs.
“Hey!” She called out to the two wolves. Leah turned to walk quicker, unaware that Kai knew exactly what and who they were.
“Let her look crazy trying to talk to wolves,” Leah thought out to Seth.
Kai ran into the woods and the wolves had no choice but to watch her. Kai looked Leah straight in the eyes, “I know what you guys are and I know why you’re watching me,” she admitted, “it’s a waste of time, just— can you let me talk to whoever’s leading you? Please,” Kai begged to Leah’s wolf form, Seth trailing behind her.
With a gruff, Leah nodded, despite hearing Seth freak out a little bit through his thoughts. She led the way to Emily’s house that was a ten minute walk from the store. The wolves clearly had an easy time climbing over uneven rocks. Kai however made the levels look dramatic, Seth laughed in his head. Her legs were just so... short. Leah was getting tired of it and told him to shut up multiple times, but he couldn’t. It was almost like watching a kid because of her stockier limbs.
“She’s older than you,” Leah reminded him.
“But definitely smaller,” Seth teased.
Leah nodded over to Emily’s house then left with Seth to phase back into their human forms. Kai thanked her and walked up to the house nervously.
Sure, she could say her knees were shaking from having to take gigantic steps over multiple rocks, but the truth was she was scared out of her mind. The wolves were taller than her, and she had no doubt their size would correlate in human form. After all, it was all the fans would gush about back when Twilight was super popular— Taylor Lautner’s ripped af body.
A tall man with a gruff voice and the tribal tattoo opened the door. It was the same exact man that stopped her from jumping off the cliff.
What was his name— ”Oh.. Hi Sam.” She greeted awkwardly
“Hi, is there something I can do for you?” He asked her, his voice rumbling deeply. It was intimidating for her.
“Yeah um...” she didn’t think he remembered her at all. In fact, she wasn’t even sure that he’d stood watch over her store before. Did he still think she was Jessica?
Paul appeared behind him, curious to see who was at the door. His eyebrows raised when he caught his Alpha doing exactly what they were told not to do.
Pauls’ eyes narrowed, “I thought we weren’t supposed to talk to her,” he said accusingly.
Sam turned around, shock on his face as he realized who the girl was. Her face was familiar as he tried to figure out from where. He’d heard about her and the wolves who have seen her on patrol knew who Kai was, but Sam thought he was talking to a girl named Jessica.
“I’m not Jessica... I lied about that whole thing. My name is actually Kaileia... um— I just wanted to ask if you guys could stop keeping watch outside of the store,” she asked him timidly
Sam huffed, “Who led you here? How do you know who we are?”
“I can’t answer that... I’m sorry. But one of the wolves led me here only because I asked them to,” she said in a small voice.
“Sam, come on. You’re scaring her,” a gentle voice said behind him. She cleared a path for you to come in, “want a muffin?” She offered.
Kaileia decided to take the risk and stepped inside. Seemingly at once, three heads snapped in her direction. She didn’t remember any of their names and it’s most likely “because they didn’t get enough screen time” she thought.
She didn’t reach for a muffin, she just stepped inside because she felt it would be better to explain it all at once. Sam began to question her again,
“How do you know about us? And what we are?” Sam asked.
“I really can’t tell you that. I just know,” Kaileia tried to explain.
“Why do you want us to stop keeping watch, then?” Kai was sure he didn’t mean to sound rude, but his deep Alpha voice just changed his intentional tone.
“I had a... meeting with the Cullens yesterday. I don’t know if Carlisle told you, but keeping ties with me could cause a life. It could cause multiple. I don’t want that for you guys, I’m just trying to protect everyone,” she explained truthfully, her voice unwavering.
“How is watching over you gonna kill one of us?” Paul asked her
She shook her head, “I can’t tell you that either—”
“Look, we’re watching over you because we want to uphold the treaty and make sure Victoria doesn’t suck the blood out of anyone on our land,” Sam said authoritatively.
Kai sighed. It seemed like the only solution is to move out of Forks. Unfortunately for her, she didn’t have the money to find a new house.
“What can I do to stop you guys from watching over me?” Kai asked to Sam
“Don’t work in La Push,” Paul answered for him with a nonchalant shrug.
Kai’s brows furrowed in frustration. He wasn’t the alpha, why was he speaking for Sam? She turned to him, face crinkled in distaste, “Was I even talking to you?” She asked him sassily, “You’re not in charge here.”
It didn’t hit a nerve for him to phase on the spot, but it did irritate him that she had to guts to talk to him like that, especially after how timidly she spoke to Sam. He felt like he wanted to prove something, that he could be more intimidating over her than Sam. Their Alpha was one step ahead of Paul’s thoughts.
“Paul.” Sam warned.
Paul said nothing, but shared a glance to Embry. Embry shrugged knowingly. “Alpha’s orders get obeyed weather you want them to or not.”
As if on cue, Jacob, Bella, Leah and Seth walked in. Kai ignored it at first, keeping eye contact with Sam and asked him again, “is there really anything I can do so that you guys won’t keep watch anymore?” She asked sincerely.
“You’re the girl that knows about all this?” Bella asked behind her. She sighed inwardly, not ready to talk with another character and mess things up any more. She turned to face Bella reluctantly. In reply, she gave Bella a quick nod.
“What’s happening here?” Jacob asked, eyes darting to the pack, to Sam and to Kai.
“I really need you guys to stop keeping watch,” Kai implored, eyes begging Jacob then to the other pack members for them to speak up and agree with her, but looked to her feet, defeated when she realized they were going to keep up with Sam’s orders only.
She locked eyes with Jacob, Paul, Embry, Quil, Leah and lastly, Seth, but received no support from any of the wolves. Seths eyes lingered onto hers, his eyes sinking deeper into her irises and he suddenly gripped the chair next to him to keep from falling. The pack members’ eyes snapped to Seths’ sudden loss of control as shock written faces adorned all of them. Despite seeing her the past two patrol duties, Seth’s eyes never met hers at the very same time until now. A smirk was plastered onto Pauls’ face and Embry dramatically gave him slow claps in celebration.
Seth looked like he was daydreaming, but he felt nothing but air beneath his feet. He was infatuated with her. Auburn tinted scenarios of their life’s possibilities together flashed through his mind in waves. He was weightless, ecstatic that he found his other half. Nothing mattered. Nothing but her love, her safety and her well-being. Seth was frozen with a numb look on his face and unwavering eye contact with Kai.
Despite not even knowing her name, Kaileia suddenly became the only thing that mattered to him. Everyone else became secondary.
Paul smirked knowingly, “Nah. I don’t think we’ll be able to stop keeping watch,” he said in a playful tone, “especially with this one now.”
Kai looked at Paul, then at Sam for an explanation, “What’s going on?”
Leah rolled her eyes, “God, damn it,” she cursed. She stormed out of the house in frustration. It felt to her like everyone was meant to be happy except herself.
“How do you know literally,” Embry paused, swallowing a bit of his muffin, “everything that’s going on, but you don’t know what that was,” he snickered.
Jacob was stoic. The newest member of the pack had imprinted. It was something he was envious of since he’d been a wolf for a full year and nothing like that had ever happened.
“Seth imprinted,” Sam told Kai gently.
Kai’s eyes widened, “Oh no, no, no, no,” she shook her head, waving her hands in frenzy, “you gotta take that back bro.”
Seth finally snapped out of his daze, “I— I can’t take that back...” he told her, almost sounding shameful even if the imprint was completely involuntary.
Kai suddenly felt guilty about rejecting him, but she knew it had to be done.
“I’m not trying to be mean but,” she sighed, “I’m saying this because I care about how things will end.”
“What do you mean?” Seth asked her
“I mean you die at the end of Breaking Dawn pt. 2 dammit ur pure soul” kai thought.
“It’s what I’ve been trying to say. It could mean death for a lot of people,” Kai explained exasperatedly.
“Look,” Bella started, “Whatever you were trying to save, it’s kinda too late for that.”
“Thats what Alice told me yesterday.”
“We’ll let you two talk,” Sam said, signaling their audience to leave the living space to the two of them.
They stood in front of each other awkwardly. Kai decided to take a seat and Seth did the same. It was still awkward, but a little less awkward.
“So um...” Seth started, “I never asked, but what’s your name?”
“Kaileia... Kaileia Mahelona,” she answered, “yours?”
“Seth Clearwater,” he answered. She knew, but it was better to make the conversation feel less... invasive by revealing that she knew all about him. She felt at home. Maybe it was the way Emily’s house was set up: wooden furniture, native designs and cozy cushions, or it was Seth. His tan skin and dark hair like hers, but his skin was more like the sunset. A tinge of a bright orange underneath the tan, his eyes turned to crescents when he smiled a tight lipped smile, his earth colored irises occupying more space than the white in his eyes. Everything about him just drew her in, and she wondered— why was this character so undermined by everyone else.
That’s all she was to him, though. He was just a character. A character she was trying to save. That’s why it was imperative that he understood they couldn’t form any real relationship.
“Seth,” she inhaled, preparing herself to break the news to him, “theres a lot on the line right now I mean— this really isn’t supposed to happen.”
Seth looked down in dismay. His brows knitted together toward his forehead and it looked like a cloud rained over him specifically as his head hung down regretfully.
“Is it too much?” He asked her, “I can give you some time if you want.”
“It’s not that its just—” she searched for the words that weren’t coming to her, “How do I say this?” She whispered to herself, “I care about you. But I have a lot of... baggage. And I won’t be here forever. I’m only here until—” she stopped herself from revealing the ending of the series
“Until when?” He asked her, pain still in his eyes.
“Thats another thing, um, there’s a lot I can’t tell you,” she said regretfully.
“That’s fine,” Seth said, “I get it. I really do,” he said in genuine understanding, “This doesn’t have to be what Sam and Emily have. We could just be friends. And– honestly– I’m just here for you if you ever need me... but asking me to stay away is kind of different,” he paused. Kai listened intently, “It would hurt me a lot knowing that you want nothing to do with me but, if it’s what you want, then I can stay away for you too,” Seth concluded.
Kai was perplexed. The two sat in silence, thoughts running wild. Kaileia contemplated the risks as one side of her told her to reject him and keep everyone safe, but another part wanted to say “fuck it” and indulge in a life with him. She missed having someone on her side like her old friend, Miko. It’d been a while since someone was there for her the way Miko was. At this thought, Kai’s expression clouded immediately.
“What’s wrong?” Seth asked her, concern seemed to fill his entire being.
“It’s just– you mentioned we could be friends right?” She asked, Seth nodded, “It reminded me of an old friend of mine... I never see her anymore but I haven’t had someone around like that in a while.”
Seth gave her a sad smile. He offered her all the options earlier and didn’t want to repeat himself. He felt that if he did, it would have felt like he was pushing the relationship. Nonetheless, he was hopeful that she would want some type of relationship with him, whether it be friends or more. All he wanted for her was to be happy, no matter what it was. Though, admittedly, he would feel ecstatic to know that she would want a life with him too, but he would also accept her rejection. He mentally prepared himself if it was to come— it would eat him from the inside out.
-
“What did she mean by ‘I’m not Jessica’?” Emily asked him.
“Do you remember that girl all those months ago that was gonna jump off the cliff?” Everyone in the room nodded, Bella’s eyebrows raised in surprise. It was the first time she heard about any of this.
“That was her. She gave me a fake name, I guess. She also told me she would only be here for a week and she was visiting family,” he paused, ”she was supposed to leave the day after.”
“I thought she lived here,” Jared said
“She does, stupid,” Embry teased. Jared mimicked his sentence in a childish tone.
“That’s what we’re trying to figure out,” Embry finished.
Paul huffed, “The only logical explanation is that she lied to you,” he shrugged, eyes pointed towards Sam, “Cuz she probably already knew who you were and didn’t wanna say anything else to you.”
“Is anyone else not like, baffled? She knows everything about us. She walked up to Seth and Leah while they were in wolf form!” Jacob exclaimed and Bella placed a calming hand on his shoulder.
Embry and Quil nodded, “Yeah. She won’t tell us anything, though,” Quil said.
Sam sighed but quickly got back to his own subject since he had no other explanation for Jacob, “I don’t think she ended up on that specific cliff by accident. She probably lied about that too.”
“You think she was gonna try to kill herself?” Bella asked
Sam pressed his lips in a tight line, “possibly.”

An Introduction
When I was in High School, a friend forced me to read Twilight. I’d seen the books before, even had another friend who had been a fan since the first book had been released, but something about it never appealed to me. I was the girl who owned all the Buffy and Angel seasons, my Mother loved Interview with the Vampire, and I picked up almost every book with a supernatural love interest I could find.  In theory, these books were made for me but the descriptions had felt somewhat...lacking. Normal girl falls for broody vampire, I’d seen it all before, it was the the plot of The Silver Kiss, and Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Darkside, and every other book in the teen fantasy category. I wasn’t into it. But, it was fall break and I had nothing to do, and a friend had swore to me i would love the book, so it wasn’t as if i had anything to lose, so i took the leap. And I LOVED it. The main character was a brunette(like me) and clumsy (also like me) she even liked to read (again, like your’s truly) and here was this sexy vampire who was incredibly into her, and he was rich and had superpowers. Plus, his family was amazing. What wasn’t there to love? New Moon was already out at this point and I devoured it as well, being angry at Edward for leaving, and exasperated at Bella for letting his stupidity bring her down. I devoured the lore of the werewolves, and moaned when it seemed Bella was falling for Jacob. And, of course, I cheered when Bella and Edward were reunited.Of course I rolled my eyes at the thought of a love triangle, since we all KNEW she couldn’t be with anyone but Edward. It wasn’t long after that that Eclipse came out, and it was at that Point that Twilight mania seemed to take over my school. I admit, it wasn’t my favorite of the books for a variety of reasons, and it was around this point I started to see more of the appeal of Jacob. Edward struck me as a bit too controlling and annoying. I jumped ship, even though I knew it was fruitless, but still, nothing detoured me from my love of the series. When Breaking Dawn came out, I remember giving my mother the money I had gotten in tips from my waitressing job and having her pick up a copy as she got off work that morning. (she worked nights, my job was evenings on the weekends)I devoured half of the book before work that night and the rest when i got home. And, unpopular opinion, I LOVED it. It was unexpected, it was strange, some of it was downright weird. and it was my favorite book of the series, problematic and all. The movie came out my final year of high school, inspiring seventeen year old me to get the “Alice” haircut (it was not my best look, I assure you, but it taught me to NEVER go that short again)and the movies, oh lord, the movies got my mom into the series. Does she still regularly rewatch them? Yes, yes she does. Of course, when the movies made things more mainstream, it meant the detractors came out of the woodwork. “This is anti-feminist” “problematic” “abusive” “Pro-life propaganda” “Subtle Mormon indoctrination” and so forth. And, yea, there were some things i could see their points on but it was still my series...until suddenly, it wasn’t. The more I read the more I was concerned that some of the messages I had shrugged off as being simply a product of this one fictional relationship might actually influence people to accept this behavior in real life. Yes, most readers would understand that interactions that were seen as loving and protective by a centuries old vampire or a werewolf weren’t the norm but “THINK OF THE CHILDREN” (ignoring the fact that i had also been a child when reading, of course) So I became and Anti, I trash talked the writing style, read sporkings, even wrote an essay for a a literature class on women lacking agency in popular literature using Twilight as one of my two main examples. I rolled my eyes at my aunt naming her dog Bella and made fun of my mother trying to rename my dog “Jacob”  I was full on the hate train and there was no backing down. So what changed? Well, for one “Life and Death” came out and I was...curious. of course I didn’t buy it right away, but a bit later I found it on sell during Black Friday and I snatched it up. I thought it would be ridiculous and something I could make fun of, but instead, I genuinely enjoyed it. Several of my friends had the same reaction. But maybe, maybe her writing style had just improved, or maybe it had major changes, but ...no. it was 90% the same story, but I loved it it a way i hadn’t anything that that verse in years. Then, I watched the movies with a friend. Of course there were corny moments and things that made me roll my eyes (but these days, most shows with teenagers cause the same reaction in me) But on the whole, the movies were fun. Not masterpieces of cinema, but fun. And i wondered....was I a bit too harsh before? I wasn’t the only one. Tumblr began its “Twilight Renaissance.” Lindsay Ellis- once such a critic of Stephanie that she helped write a book parodying her- did a video apologizing to Stephanie Meyer and commenting on how it is often books and other media enjoyed by teenage girls that is subject to the harshest criticism, even by other woman. Buzzfeed was having articles and quizzes and memes about it. Twilight was back in my face again, just it was ten years ago. So, here I am, taking another look. Admitting that time changes viewpoints and that maybe i was too harsh, that an opinion  doesn’t have to be all or nothing. that I can say “Hey, there are some choices I don’t like and things I have issues with”  and yet admit “it’s enjoyable, it’s fun”,And -while it might not be “serious literature” it got  a lot of people reading and influenced an entire  generation. So I’m going back, I’m reading the main books first and, if I have time, taking in other things (the illustrated guide, Bree Tanner, Midnight Sun) that i skipped over before. I want to see where I come in at the end of things. Will I like the same characters? Will my favorite book and movies still be the same? Can this girl finally make up her mind if she’s Team Jacob or Team Edward? I hope to find out. And I hope to have some fun along the way. I’m going to have my ask box  and submissions open, because I really hope to engage with people while doing this, both to keep me motivated and to see where my thoughts and opinions go with this. i haven’t exactly worked out a reading schedule yet, and i will warn that updates may occasionally get sporadic as my personal life can be...a challenge. But,I  really hope this doesn’t turn anyone off of things as this si something I’m super excited about. Till then, Be Safe AJ

He spreads his wings out wide, and she gives him a squeal.
Ok bc my brain is constantly malfunctioning, for some reason I thought he was doing that thing where people find a baby bird and feed it with a bird puppet so it doesn’t imprint on human faces, and I was like wow, he really thought ahead huh
Tumblr media
Lol I guess I was thinking like raven… bird… 😅 but then I was like wait the mom wasn’t a bird tho 😂😂😂
He waves his hand, making sparkles appear. She gasps looking at them. Reaching her hands out to grab the golden sparks until they fall on her face, and she sneezes.
Lmao Aurelia and Andy going to come back later and be like… who the heck is gonna clean up all this glitter huh??? Vacuums aren’t invented yet 😭😭😭
Tumblr media
Lance chuckles at the little baby, and a single feather on his right wing starts to fade into white.
🥺
She’s like a baby Britta filter!!! Make Ransom hang out with her so he can be purified too!! (Also like, is he aware his fiancée married his brother and gave birth to a child or…)
“You look like your mother. I guess that means you’ll be breaking hearts, too,” Branwen squeals again, before crashing her head on his shoulder. Her hands rub over his back, and her eyes softly close.
idk if u are a fan of twilight (if u hate twilight I’m sorry to bring it up lol and I don’t mean this in an insulting way), but this reminded me of when Bella chooses Edward and Jacob is like awww shucks but then he falls in love with their daughter with the name that sounds like a salad dressing brand.
“Because you’ve already broken my heart, sweet girl. I don’t want to take you away from her.”
Tumblr media
I mean… he could just not take her?? 😆 Or does he literally have to in his mind bc of the deal?
Another feather starts fading from black to the vibrant white shade of Lance’s former glory
Nobody:
Me: What if she’s actually like King Midas but instead of everything she touches turning into gold, it just gets bleached. Like honestly, I can see the potential of a very successful hair salon or dry cleaning enterprise
So I must do what I have to do. You understand, right. Understand that a deal is a deal, and I must take you.
This is such a moment where it’s like dude, u trying to justify your decision to the baby, or are u trying to convince yourself that u are doing the right thing 😭
I just want your father to hurt.
I mean, as a dad to a newborn baby, he’s definitely going to endure some sort of suffering (I know my parents did 😂😂). But idk maybe not bc Branwen seems like an angel child 😇
He hates coming here to see you in this position. Forgetting about your baby while Andy has his way with you.
Lol the mom takes like a couple minutes for herself and he’s like “🫢🫢🫢Casey Anthony, j’accuse!!!”
Lance goes over to her bigger bed, pausing when he sees that you had fashioned a mobile to hang over her, using his fallen feathers
Does Aurelia know the feathers are from Lance? Bc the last time she saw him his wings were all black right?
“Nope, if you want me to hold you, you have to get me. Come on. You can do it,”
Hahaha his inner Kris Jenner coach finally coming out 😂😂
Tumblr media
“And you, my sweet husband, will wait. Branwen can’t talk or walk.”
Meanwhile, Lance teaching her to do backflips and stuff every time he comes to visit 😂
Tumblr media
“Does he come and visit you every night, darling?”
Ok so she does know huh. And I guess she trusts him bc she knows he can’t steal the baby?
Maybe it’s just my natural paranoia but if I was finding feathers in my kids room I’d be like “omg it’s eagles are coming to eat her liver each day like Prometheus” 😣
“I believe you have found your guardian angel, my darling. We’ll keep Lance’s presence from your father a secret though. We both know he’s not all bad,”
LMAO so where does Andy think the feathers are coming from? Like some random ass pigeon that flies into the room?? 😂 I know it’s set in ye olden days so maybe they don’t know about avian transmitted diseases yet but like… idk if I would feel comfy hanging unknown bird feathers above a child’s bed. Plus if the bird is shedding all these feathers I would probably think it’s sick or something 😬
Examining them in the moonlight. “His white ones are falling out though. I would like to see him again. See what’s become of my friend.”
Oh snap I didn’t even think of this… like his feathers are becoming white again (good?) but then they are also falling out (bad??)… and it’s just the white ones that are falling out??
Me trying to use my remaining 2 brain cells to understand the symbolism m, literally wracking by memory for feather imagery
Tumblr media
Is it like how Icarus flew too close to the sun and his wings melted??? No this isn’t about hubris…
Is it like how they weigh your soul vs a feather in purgatory??? No, no one’s dying here…
Is it like that story where the sister only makes 6.5 sweaters so her 7th brother has to live with a swan wing? No????
Opening a drawer, you softly lay down the newest feathers,
She’s going to make so many mobiles and sell them on Etsy and become richer than Ransom 🤑
Tumblr media
Omg so this might be my fav chapter so far and I honestly don’t know why bc I’m not a fan of babies lmao 🤔 but your writing infiltrated my defences and this was so sweet and wholesome 🥹🥹
Tumblr media
What is happening to me?? 😫 is this what happened to the Grinch when his heart grew 3 sizes???

Boyfriend’s Background Commentary - The Twilight Saga Part Uno
Movie: Twilight
Director: Catherine Hardwicke
Cinematography: Elliot Davis
Budget: 37 million USD
Release Date: November 21, 2008 (Canada)
Watched: August 21st, 2018
Boyfriend: @shiftaria
Part Uno - Part Dos - Part Tres - Part Cuatro - Part Cinco
With very little convincing, I managed to get my boyfriend to watch Twilight, about 10 years later. After all, he’s never read the books or really seen the movies, so, I thought it was about time. Having read and watched the sage myself over the years, I have this entire series implanted in my head, since I am that lame, so, to watch this with someone with fresh eyes is about to be very interesting.
Now this is the first movie, and like these movies, they try to start off like the book, and it’s pretty cool like the visual was welcoming, yet, the lighting was rather bright. With the brightness being as such, it makes this seem like such a fantasy world when it’s really just a teen romance.
Just a heads up, we’ve attempted watching this a while back and never finished. This is attempt number two.
Anyways, we get introduced to Bella Swan, who is off to live with her father that is pretty on the other side of the country, because she doesn’t want to travel around with her mother and Phil; Bella’s mother’s new husband. So, off to one of the rainiest places in the world. Which can totally be relatable, because so do Shifter and myself live literally in one of the rainiest parts of the world, literally twelve hours away from Forks.
We know a total of four characters, two of which don’t even make any kind of impact to the plot. Now, we are introduced to two more; Jacob Black; who made mud pies with Bella when they were little, and Jacob’s father; Billy Black, Charlie Swan’s best friend. We are then introduced to Bella’s lovely truck that can take a beating, which was rebuilt by Jacob. Bella does the lovely thing by hitting Jacob with the door as thank you.
First day at a new school, where all the guys just want to fuck her. Making friends with Mike, Jessica, Eric, and Angela, though Angela would be the only one that could even be called a friend, then besides Jacob (at least at the moment).
PA Announcement from Shifter: lots of three point mid-length shots, ei: a longer shot that has three different framings with two cameras moved that are transitioned between on an action beat.
This moment now is to lunch, where the Cullen’s are introduced. All of which come walking in white, then he comes Edward; dressed in black. I agree with Shifter that this was very in your face visual metaphor about Edward being the black sheep of the Cullen family. Also, another point that Shifter had pointed out, they don’t focus on it either. Like movies are either blunt about the metaphor or more in the person’s face, this movie is kind of pulling a middle ground, which is apparently throwing Shifter kind of off. Now for me, Edward just makes the scene awkward with staring, borderline glaring.
Back to class, which I now think is Biology. And shoot to Edward with wings behind his head, that once again is a shot at a metaphor. Back to Bella, who is standing in front of a fan, blowing her wonderful scent towards Edward. Jump to Edward very much overreacting. Now, this is where my wonderful boyfriend comments on their acting. This short story of it all is high school students putting on a play with a poorly written script, so their acting is either stiff or overacting.
We now get Buttcrack Santa and Bella getting really awkward with people because she hasn’t really been to Forks in a really long time. Now, I mentioned really shitty lighting with this movie. Thanks to Shifter he made a really good point. The scenes are really graded blue to give the feeling that it was at the risk of raining at any point. Like it’s fitting for the movie but the only issue was, it made the movie too fantasy-like.
Nice Edward, he apologizes for not talking to her when she sat next to him when she first arrived. It’s all way too strange, to begin with. He tries to be nice, only, Bella almost gets killed later that day, risking Edward and his family to be found out just because he went to save her. Back to being old and mean Edward. At least Alice tried to be nice to her. These scenes are just Edward mood whiplash. And she tries to invite him down to La Push as well, to be nice. Bella gets teased, and finds about the ‘Cold Ones’. Now we’re watching a Canadian History documentary, not that it wasn’t appreciated.
If Dr.Cullen might be a matchmaker, but Bella is a good friend and matchmaker herself for her friends. And she goes out of her way to do some serious research on something that shouldn’t be real, yet it’s very much is. Which leads to a very interesting way that might as well equal to coming out. But it was a rather good exchange.
Shifter finds that entire scene good, mainly because of the information dump that was given to him. Like the vampire camouflage, and the white, diamond skin. He was watching the movie with interest. Bella was asking questions, which was really good. The only line that made us cringe, was about Bella being Edward’s own brand of heroin.
Now with the movie slowing down a bit, Bella actually went out of her way for the Cullen’s to not worry about her. She gets a look into Edward’s life, through a music video with a beautiful piano, which goes to Charlie meeting Edward.
Que Charlie’s badass acting skills, especially with a shotgun. Very threatening, and very clever. Edward being very polite and say your daughter is going off the play baseball. Now, if Edward only had told us what Charlie was thinking at that moment.
Baseball! In a thunderstorm! For what reason!? To hide them making a loud boom when the ball hits the bat. Kind of surprised that nothing broke while they were playing since super strength is a thing. Like this scene was another music video, just a bit more fun than it was previously with the piano music. Really shows the family, but it’s a subplot that comes out of nowhere, yet this was pulled from the book since it’s the way to introduce our first three baddies of the series.
Thank god for Alice’s vision because they could have gotten Bella killed. Now, this is where I kind of get salty. They totally had time to get Bella out of there, just put her in the jeep and go, it would have saved like the last 30 minutes of the movie from being a fucking mess of unnecessary drama and Bella wouldn’t have to be mean to Charlie just to keep him safe.
Off to Arizona, Bella goes with Jasper and Alice, kind of putting Bella’s mom at risk. Why are they coming into a hotel during the day in Arizona? No clue, but let’s hope they don’t get found out. Just chill in a room with two vampires until your vampire boyfriend calls to let you know that you both need to disappear for a while. Now, to maybe an hour later, another phone call, but not any phone call, mom is worried about you, only to be a trap. Also, I’m honestly not surprised that Victoria got Bella’s information for James. They’re vampires, pretty easy to figure out a way to hack into a computer or something.
We all know that Bella is a complete idiot, so, she just goes alone, leaving no note or anything for the Cullen’s. Back to her old ballet studio, with glass everywhere, doesn’t that scream very bad things are about to happen. Oh, and smart on James for using a recording to bring Bella to him. Yet, dumb on Bella to use pepper spray, like what is that to do on a vampire?
Bella gets thrown across the floor, head bashing into a corner, and yes, she starts bleeding. Bring in sadistic James, who has a video camera, filming all of this, along with whatever thought told him to break Bella’s leg at that moment. Oh where, oh where is Edward? Oh, he finally arrived, but alone, and Bella is very much hurt. How hasn’t she passed out from her leg being broken is beyond me. Edward tried to get them away, but James has Edward back into a fight. James has the upper hand, Edward is too frantic with concern over Bella and the fact that her scent is filling the air due to the blood, giving James the chance to bite her.
Back to music video mode with inner monologue, and probably a seizure warning. Like I mentioned before, this entire part could have not happened if Edward and Bella just left the field, but whatever. Finally, after all of that, we get Bella frantic in a hospital room due to Edward saying that they shouldn’t be together. Kind of disappointed that we didn’t get to see Bella apologize to Charlie about all of this, it would have been nice to see since Charlie is kind of a huge part of the series, more so than Bella’s mom (I honestly can’t remember her name and way too lazy to even google it).
Father judging Edward scene, it’s very obvious that Charlie doesn’t trust Edward that much anymore for getting his daughter hurt and “hurting” her. But Bella is in a very beautiful dress, even if she’s in a cast. With words from Shifter, I would have to agree they dragged out the ending here a little much, but my main issue was why didn’t they have this nice lighting for the entire movie? It was soft and much more realistic in my opinion.
All in all, it was a good start to this review. Hopefully, I can get the next one out as soon as possible, because I can see this taking off somewhere.

2, 4 and 5 from the salty asks :)
Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?For the SW fandom, definitely Finnrey. I love Daisy and John together but I also ship Stormpilot/Finnrose far more so much that I’ve had to become a multishipper for the first time in my life because I can’t decide. Had TLJ hinted more towards Finnrey becoming canon I could have been maybe okay with it. Also Finnlo. I get the appeal of Finn/Ben but idk just not my cup of tea but def no disrespect. Han and Luke I def only broTP because I’m an ardent Han/Leia shipper. Same goes for Hando. Other fandoms:OUAT: Captain Charming, Rumple/Regina (I reaaaalllllly hated that EQ/Gold romantic nonsense in season 6).Buffyverse: Willow/Xander/Buffy any combination of the three. Like they are my ride or die friendships in a piece of fiction. Also Cordelia/Angel because it felt so forced and then the nonsense with Connor happened. Firefly: one of my besties is gonna throw a shoe at me but Jayne and Kaylee, because I loved Kaylee and Simon more. Twilight (yes this is me coming out) I never shipped Jake/Bella or Jake/Leah Marvel: Stony, used to ship it but idk I like them as friends more now. Romanogers I definitely ship as besties. I always liked Clintasha or NatBucky better. Cherik as well.DC: Wonderbat mainly because Batcat is my otp. Also wonder/supes because hello Lois Lane. I also think Diana is too good for Bruce or Clark even though I love Martha’s boys. There are more for sure but this is all I can think of for now. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?*OUAT fandom: SwanQueen. It just felt too toxic because they hated one another for so long and I can see that people wanted Henry’s two moms to get along and fall in love but I just didn’t get the chemistry at all. And you could tell the actresses were not exactly friends either. This was a very popular ship and their antis against Emma with Hook were very vocal and often just as toxic as anti Reylos (including yes doxxing, death threats and the like). Thankfully I met some cool SQers through being an EQ fan and that helped me gain perspective on the ship.Star Wars: Damerey. Mostly because of a small subset of shippers who are just mean to people who don’t ship it. Also because to me Poe is that dudebro frat boy who slowly gets woke over the course of the sequel trilogy and Rey in the new Poe Dameron comic finds him kind of insufferable. Oscar Isaac can have chemistry with a paper bag so I can’t really rule on chemistry here. Also Kylux, I don’t really find it healthy because I dislike full hate ships like that. They definitely hate each other in canon. Finnrey romantically has become a Notp because of the vocal toxic fans within it and because I prefer them as friends. But again no disrespect to my friends who do ship the above. Buffyverse: Spuffy just because in the show it was framed as being so unhealthy. First it was Spike’s obsession with her and then she was using that obsession to feel after resurrection. And then he tried to rape her. It started turning around in the final season once he got a soul but idk Spike as a hero never really stuck with me. DC: Joker/Harley because he’s tried to kill her how many times?Marvel: Nat/Bruce that felt sooooooo forced in AOU. Jean/Wolverine because I never really saw Wolverine settling down. And Jean def loves Scott more. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?Basically nearly all of my NOTPs and a few of the brotps as romances are because either I don’t find it healthy or the fandom in that ship ruined it by their behavior towards other ships. The Spuffy/Bangel flame wars of yesteryear to today it’s been a wild ride. I’m always a ship and let ship kind of person which is why the small subset of fans in each of those notps have always ruined the fun of shipping for me. I recently had to unfollow a few of the bigger named Reylo blogs because of their behavior towards other people and other shippers. I’m a fandom granny basically because I’ve been through so many fandoms and seen so many ship wars and they are all the same. Small subsets of shippers in each group will be toxic pieces of shit and treat everyone as lower than themselves while denouncing the opposite ship for doing the same shit that they do all the time.

Recap on the event on 11/12/17
Let me say that everything was a blur for me so a lot of things will probably get left out on accident lol.
BELOW THE CUT
So I walked into the store (which is lovely and has super cool trinkets and bookish things) and I’m greeted by this awesome sign:
Tumblr media
I have my little sister, two cousins, and aunt and uncle trailing me (somehow this trip started with just me driving to San Diego, to my sister, to my two cousins, and finally led to my aunt and uncle coming along. Spontaneous family trips for the win!). Eventually all but one cousin leaves, and I find myself FINALLY meeting @bookjunkee (Stacee) after seeing her at a couple events beforehand. Her and her husband were awesome to talk to, and even gave me a helpful app to use for my eventual road trip to New Mexico.
Eventually 12 pm rolls around and I’m sitting in the front (I got there twoish hours early, send help), and before Michelle comes out, we’re told by one of the staff members that she requests that pictures or videos not be taken during the q&a. Soon I come to learn that it’s because she can spot a camera from miles away and will literally stop doing whatever it is she’s doing to pose. Iconic tbh
So Stacee, who was moderator for this event (and did an incredible job, why were you even nervous), started off the panel with a couple questions.
Tumblr media
Michelle explains many things, most of which she’s stated before. Some examples were how Mara’s story came to end and how Noah’s came alive (i.e. him running away with the story in Retribution/ what happens after happily ever after, challenging herself with writing in a different character’s pov and making it sound different from her original main characters’), the books mentioned in the Mara Dyer trilogy (I learned that teen Michelle loved Lolita so much because she really liked books that were 100% opposite of who she was), and what Hogwarts house each character would be in (Daniel is Ravenclaw, Mara is Slytherin, Noah is Gryffindor, and Jamie is Ravenclaw), and more.
One of my favorite questions that Stacee asked went something like, “if you were Bella from Twilight, what would you change from the story and why?”
So she answered from a reader stand point and said, “nothing.” LET ME SAY THAT THIS IS THE MOMENT I KNEW I LIKED HER FOR JUST MORE THAN HER WRITING. She is a FAN of Twilight and isn’t afraid to defend Bella to the end and I am here for this. Her reasoning behind her answer was that, at the end of the day, Bella gets everything she ever wanted. Which is 100% true. In Michelle’s words, “why would I want to change anything if I get whatever I want.”
As a writer, she would change many things though lol.
After another question, Michelle went on to explain that the Mara Dyer trilogy was written in past tense, so you always kind of knew that Mara was AT LEAST alive by the end of it, but with the Shaw Confessions written in present tense, everyone is fair game. BUT BEFORE ANYONE PANICS, she did say to “trust her.” She also talked about how she can’t plot so she writes as she goes along, but DOES kind of know the ending of Shaw Confessions. Michelle went on to state that she 100% knows who Noah will be by the end of the trilogy. Little scared, more intrigued than ever before.
We took a couple questions from the audience and I AM SORRY but I can’t remember anyone’s questions but my own. I asked something like, “Did you always know Mara’s pseudonym was going to be Mara?” and she said that once she found that Mara’s name basically meant something bad in every language possible, that was her name. She also mentioned the Sarin name (Mara’s moms maiden name) meant demon and some other stuff and I thought about some research Amelia (@realmaradyer) did about the name, so that was cool to tie in.
She also talked about Goose for a bit, which made me so happy because I loved him. She was outside of Noah’s school looking around, making sure she could describe it accurately, when a group of boys walk by and she asks if they went to school there. They did, and she explained who she was, what she was doing, and if she could ask them questions. They all agreed and she started recording the conversation. One boy stood out to her so much that she ended up putting him into the book, and yes his nickname really was Goose. I thought that was super cool. She also said that she finished the first draft for the second book and Goose is in it a lot more, so YAY.
Tumblr media
The line starts to form for the signing and I divide my books between me and my one family member that stayed to help me not look like a psycho popping up with 8 books when she’s only written 4. As I’m in line, I spot one of the coolest things I’ve seen ON THE INTERNET AND NOW IN REAL LIFE, a dress made out of the pages of the MD books.
Tumblr media
I don’t know the girls name, but I know she also had shoes with her and they were so cool and Michelle loved them.
I think I was second to last in line (I did this on purpose) and at 2pm, the bookstore had another event so we moved the rest of the line to the other side of the store. BUT FINALLY, IT WAS MY TURN.
I walked up and my heart stopped because she goes, “I know who you are.” WITH THIS BIG SMILE ON HER FACE AND RIP ME. She said my username and please write all this on my gravestone. Of course it could be that Stacee and I were talking about the kinds of shirts we were gonna wear to the event and Michelle was also mentioned because it started with her tweet BUT I DO NOT CARE.
Tumblr media
She thanked me for supporting her and other stuff that I’d like to keep to myself because special, and it was honestly a great feeling.
We talked about her books a bit and then I said something like, “I don’t care if Noah dies even though I love him so much (this isn’t true, I do care if Noah dies, do not kill him), but please don’t make Mara into an actual villain” and we spoke about how she is villain and is chaotic neutral like The Punisher (we also learned that she’s totally pumped for the netlifx show, and honestly, same). I also mentioned how I just need her brother (and all of her family tbh) to keep loving her no matter what she does and Michelle said something along the lines of, “But he’s normal, he doesn’t have powers, how can he truly love something he doesn’t understand (all this is said on the basis of what I said earlier about Mara not being a real villain, SHE IS NOT SAYING THAT DANIEL DOESN’T REALLY LOVE HER…at least I hope not lol).” To which is responded with the only plausible response that someone like me could respond with, SERIAL KILLERS. Normal convo’s right? lol
My reasoning was, how can family members of murderers still love and visit said murderer after what they did, AND I THINK SHE AND I WERE ON THE SAME BRAIN WAVE BECAUSE SHE MENTIONS, THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT KEVIN, a movie I had just watched last week and was thinking about when I said that.
Didn’t know it was a book until she told me, and now I 100% have to read it.
As she’s signing I ask her to sign the box from the trilogy because I am a weirdo and she mentions that she wanted one of the taglines from the box, “what would you kill for?” to be the tagline for Becoming. Which is interesting.
After she signed my things, I gave her the stuff everyone sent in. The scrapbook idea ended up not coming along, so what I did was put everyone’s submissions into their own envelops and wrote everyone’s @ names, sealed them up, and gave them to her. I explained to her that they were letters and fan art from fans who couldn’t make it but still wanted to give her something. You can kind of see them in the picture where she’s posing, they’re in cute little brown envelops.
And yes, she did get them as stated HERE:
Tumblr media
After that, I showed her my new MD tattoo and explained to her that I had “The villain is the hero of her own story” on my arm which I think she remembered because she went, “I’ve seen that one, right?”
Tumblr media
We took pictures together and as I hugged her and she said some nice things to me that she probably won’t think twice about but meant the world to me. Again, keeping it to myself.
Tumblr media
She also said she’d write something different in my Becoming book and I absolutely love it.
Once I was back on the road, I realized I forgot to ask my questions I wanted to ask (WHAT THE HECK WAS JOSEPH’S POWER BECAUSE I CANNOT FIND IT IN THE CHAPTER SHE MENTIONS, AND WHAT WAS IN JAMIE’S LETTER FROM THE PROFESSOR?) But oh well. I’ll ask her the next time I meet her, hopefully back in the West Coast ;)
Tumblr media
Pretty happy because all of my copies of her books are signed now. All of them. Even the box. I don’t have a problem.
Tumblr media
And if youv’e actually read this far, I’ll let you know that I am doing TWO giveaways of The Becoming of Noah Shaw, and yes they are signed. And it’ll be international. More details on that soon.
Have a great day!

I have a confession to make...
I once joined a hate forum for a series.
So I suppose I was an “anti” at that time. I was in high school.
The forum was called Twilight Sucks. And yeah, as the name implies, it was a hate forum for the Twilight series.
I read the first Twilight book with genuine interest because my friends recommended it to me. And I thought it was... okay. I honestly didn’t see the hype to it (and me going to an all-girl school at the time, it was insanely popular), but I didn’t think it was awful.
The 2nd book, I was like “umm wtf?” I hated how Bella acted when Edward left her, like it was the end of the world. I really did not care when she jumped off the cliff, at one point I was probably like “bitch stop teasing, just jump already” lmao. The only saving grace of New Moon for me was Jacob because I had a crush on Jacob.
By the 3rd book, I was just NOT into the series at all. I thought Eclipse was slightly better than New Moon but still... didn’t care. I hated Bella and Edward’s relationship with a passion. I liked the wolves, that got me through the book.
I thought the series was over and was like “oh thank goodness, the awfulness is done.”
Then one day my friend gushed to me “there’s a 4th book coming out!!” I was like “...really?”
I was not going to read Breaking Dawn. I had no interest, especially when I saw how freaking huge it was, I think it was the thickest book of the series.
But shortly after the book was released, I had over a week of boredom. A really bad hurricane hit, we had no electricity and my school was closed. I was desperate for any form of entertainment. I went to a friend’s house because they had electricity and she and her mom invited my mom and me over so we could charge our electronics and do laundry. My friend had also just finished reading Breaking Dawn, and loaned me her copy of the book since she knew I had nothing else do to at my electricity-less home.
So I read Breaking Dawn out of boredom and spite. And I hated it. omg, I thought it was awful. It bothered me how desperate Bella was to bang Edward, the whole honeymoon and pregnancy and... basically everything about it disturbed me lol. The worst part was Jacob imprinting on Renesme or whatever tf that poor kid’s name was. Like that was just.. weird. It made me hella uncomfy.
I despised Breaking Dawn, but it killed a few hours for me until my school re-opened, so that was good.
Shortly after that, I joined the forum. And it was a pretty neat place. Like there were even legitimate fans of the series on there, critiquing the book. They knew they series wasn’t perfect, and while they could still enjoy it, they could still constructively-criticize it as well. The forum also mocked the rabid fangirls of the series. Because I gotta admit, some of the fans were... really hard-core, the fandom was almost a meme.
So yeah, I was once an anti-(series) and even joined a hate forum for it.
But. I didn’t shit on the series in places where people who enjoyed it would see my salt. I didn’t hate on people who liked it. Matter of fact, my best friend adored the series. And even if I thought it was bad, she enjoyed it and that’s all that mattered. I even made her Twilight-themed bookmarks for her birthday lol
So that’s what antis need, I think. Hate forums. Sites exclusively for being an anti. I wish they’d keep their hatred of ships in their Discord channels, honestly.
