He was already in a foul mood-- the audacity of the common rabble trying to approach him at such a sensitive time when he was constantly having to juggle multiple aspects of his plan, his overstimulated mind and undestimulated hands both aching-- so the bloody letter waiting upon him was not quite as well-received. It still delighted him to see deep down, but he couldn't fully bring himself to smile.

Of course, reading the inside and dumping out the bloody fingers withered away what little joy had been sparked, leaving a grimace of disgust plastered to the Banite's face.

He didn't even try to think of what she was speaking of-- he sent no peddlers to the Bhaalist Temple. He sent scouts, and if any of those found the ruins without telling him? And got caught before they could report back, no less? They were worthless to him and deserving of their fate. In fact, if all the assassin took were fingers, he would have to line up for a much worse punishment should the failures show their faces.
