I’m going to scream yall oh my godddd. Ok so the thing is. They are all bad parents but the reason they are all bad parents is literally because dean is an active abuser and sam and cas keep enabling him and don’t stand up enough for jack to them. They are the battered spouses. Dean wants to put jack in the box. He forces sam to manipulate jack into it. Cas is trying to figure out whether they should put jack in the cage. They’re literally awful. All of them. Jack had an abusive father and two fathers who were victims of said abuser’s abuse and also enabled and occasionally aided the abuse aimed at him even if they didn’t like it. Jack deserved better than all of them.

Anyways. The actual ranking is something like this:

Tied for worst=Dean & Lucifer

Tied for mid=Sam & Cas

best=Kelly. And she didnt even get the chance to raise him beyond the womb.

Sam and cas are Bobby’s mother on the floor picking up the broken pieces of plate that dean threw there while he hurls abuse at his son. If jack had killed dean the way Bobby killed his father, they would have had the same reaction as his mother. They are the ones asking why he always has to provoke him, albeit they are nicer to him.

Dean is violently abusive to jack. This is textual. This is onscreen. It doesnt matter whatever reasons he had, i literally dont want to hear “he was grieving cas/mary/his freedom/etc/whatever” yes he was. All of that is true. That doesnt change the fact that he was violently abusive to jack, and that he was the one literally trying to kill/imprison him on multiple occasions.

anyways, if the reblogs and tags didn’t clarify enough: this blog is fucking NOT a welcome space for billy stans.

he’s a fucking racist and abusive asshole of a man. yes he was abused, but that gives us the reason for his actions, it does not fucking excuse it. y’all do triple backflips through flaming hoops to defend this man while demonizing female characters (mainly nancy) for literally being teenagers. nancy called a relationship bullshit bc she was drunk and in agony over losing a friend and having everyone act like it never happened. she pointed a gun at steve to scare him off because a fucking demogorgon was coming and he didn’t know. she takes up arms to defend the kids from so many different threats while also dealing with her own fucking issues. billy threw lucas against a wall and threatened to break him just bc he was black and hanging around max. yes, he definitely could’ve used a support system like jonathan had, but he never fucking tried to make one. he and max could’ve tried to bond together under the abuse of neil. he could’ve talked to somebody - anybody - but he chose not to and instead lash out and take his rage out on anyone and everyone. did the narrative treat him weirdly? yes, i think so. but that doesn’t make him into this uwu soft boy y’all want him to be so desperately. like, this is the man who wanted to beat on kids and literally tried to bash steve’s face in with his fists. he intimidates and pushes around anyone he can, namely max and lucas. the duffer brothers and caleb confirmed his actions were racially motivated towards lucas. i’m not saying he deserved to die, nor am i ignoring the obvious trauma he went through, but i’m not using it to justify his actions and make excuses for his shitty behavior.

thinking abt how max is one of the most forgiving characters on the show

max needs to forgive people, she needs people to be able for the better. because she’s seen so many people change for the worse. her father from someone who was flawed but trying his best to be a present and loving parent, to a man evading fatherhood entirely, who wants nothing to do with his own daughter or ex wife. neil, from the nice new guy her mom was seeing, her friendly stepdad, to a monster. billy, everything she thought she could’ve wanted in a cooler, older brother, became her abuser. even her mom slowly became a neglectful shell of her former self. max is in a way forced to be forgiving, because if she stops giving people second chances she’ll be completely alone. not to discount that max, even without desperation, is on her own astonishingly understanding and has every right be furious and unforgiving at everyone who has wronged her, yet shows an unbelievable, frankly too large, amount of understanding to them all. just that maybe a lot of max’s experiences have conditioned her for forgiveness, even when people aren’t particularly deserving of it(billy most prominently).
