something something nico is always simultaneously hyperaware and extremely distracted because all his senses are somewhat connected to the dead and dying, especially his hearing. since, well, people are dying all the time, there’s always a faint ringing in his ears that he’s used to enough that he can ignore easily enough. when someone he knows or is nearby is about to die, it’s louder and overwhelming to the point that it hurts and is difficult to concentrate. this makes large battles and wars ummm hard! but he powers through for the sake of everyone else. he’ll focus on the battle and fight that is happening in order to ignore the Dying to the point that sometimes it’s hard to get him to stop when it’s finally over. generally he’ll collapse before the end of a battle anyway but. the. yeah. waves hand.
