I know i keep banging on about this, but I am 100% serious when I say Viktor was the femme fatale of Arcane. Fortiche knew everyone would look at Mel and think it was her, but I swear it was Viktor.
#everyone talking about how when Viktor attacked Jayce he was so elegant and swayed as he walked#he was in white and gold just like Mel walking in JUST like Mel did to see Jayce#Viktor was jealous of that#he wanted to be soooo msny things (savior herald professor- the best instead of second fiddle)#but ultimately he wanted to be enough for Jayce#and whether intentional or not i do think he modeled his perfect self off of her to some extent#it is sooooo complex but viktor was the foil (#arguably romantic as femme fatales usually are but the case could be made for platonic life partners#which may be their “real” connection#but until Jayce explained to Viktor how he felt#Viktor needed to be wanted how he knew best#to everyone else the genius savior capable of miracles in the undercity#to Jayce he knew the surefire way to be wanted was reflected in a more romantic image#maybe im super off here but viktor's gender and sexuality and self image struggles are so incredibly interesting#and i firmly believe he is jayces narrative foil in every single way#jayvik#jayce talis#viktor#viktor arcane#jayce x viktor#arcane spoilers#i am so open to discussion on this#mel medarda#also really want to stress that Viktor's arc was not BECOMING the femme fatale but subverting that expectation#he becomes Viktor. as he is meant to be#himself#with no guilt or hangups on who he is or his intellect or physical state#he is perfect as he is#and his self acceptance is breaking the cycle#yes yes butterfly effect but viktor was also the butterfly evolving into his ACTUAL perfect self - just viktor as he is PLEASE SEE MY VISION

Gege is far from perfect as a writer but I can never ever criticize him for his villains. His bad guys are fucking awesome: unapologetic, positively evil, and competent. They are compelling assholes you just love to hate but are too interesting to really truly hate.
CH. 230 is one of the best displays of villainy yet. Sukuna is the King of Curses. He doesn't give a damn about his host, his honor, or fucking anything except beating Gojo. He has no qualms using Megumi to cover his own ass.
Sukuna just doesn't give a fuck and as a reader, I am half fucking mad about it because Megumi doesn't deserve more shit. Meanwhile, the other half of me is "Yeah. That tracks. He's a curse after all."
It's a shock to see the dirty trick Sukuna pulled but it is to be expected because it's well within his characterization to do so.

y’all just— thinking about how excited Stanley must have been to host the twins— Alex says he smokes cigars but he doesn’t smoke once in the show— has a beer gut but he only drinks sodas in front of the kids— doesn’t swear when they’re around which must have taken INCREDIBLE effort— Stanley Pines, known crook, buying pancake mix at the supermarket and many bottles of syrup— learning to cook basic healthy meals and burning so many of them before he gets it right— buying new sheets, new mattresses— avoiding bunk beds because it reminds him of Ford— looking at the attic room he made wondering “is this enough will they like me”— trying to act aloof at the bus stop so he doesn’t betray the fact that he was there hours early— watching them goof around and thinking of New Jersey beaches— then the first night they’re there, he watches them debate running away and only stay because Mabel shook a magic 8 ball. That must have kept him awake all night.

i love being married to a straight guy. this morning we were parallel chilling and i glance at his computer and he's watching a drill fight tournament. as in, guys attaching drills to the same rod and turning them on until one breaks. to find the strongest drill. jose noticed me staring and rolled out of the way so i could see the screen. he knew every drill brand and told me their quality and price. i watched the whole thing without comment. the violence was enchanting. i never would have found this. he's a vector to an entirely alien, often beautiful, world.

In Deadpool & Wolverine, one of the Deadpool Corps members is dressed up as Hugh Jackman’s character from The Greatest Showman. This implies that there is an alternate universe where Wade has to sing The Other Side with Logan, to convince him to join the X-Men. In this essay I will-

AHHH I think I've ruined my kitten by bringing him up in a house of elderlies. he's hit month 5, and now all he wants to do is old fuck activities with the seniors (lie around, sleep, watch the birds). it's like watching a toddler harumph while reading the morning newspaper. be young again!!! I'm sorry!

I’m really enamored with the dynamic of two characters who work perfectly in tandem, like pacific rim drift compatible level, but they don’t like each other. It’s not even as strong an emotion as hate it’s just a very neutral-negative dislike, but they still act in perfect concert and their individual abilities are fully complementary

Thinking about Edward Elric as the Amestrian Military's specialest little unfireable boy
State alchemists can be fired for underperforming. We know this up front from the likes of Shou Tucker. And this makes a ton of sense from the homunculi's standpoint since the state alchemists are sacrifice candidates, and the homunculi would want to cull the weakest candidates and focus only on cultivating the strongest ones who stand the best chance of opening the portal.
........Then there's Edward. Who's already opened the portal.
There's no need to cultivate him. No gamble taken on whether he's good enough to open the portal. He passed the final test already. Graduated 4 semesters early.
And as such, has a free pass to do Absolute Fuck All.
And I'm imagining how funny this is from like an outside perspective.
Some newish state alchemist who'd only ever read up on the stories of Edward Elric, ready and excited to start their career of being paid handsomely with endless freedom to research and travel and do anything they want in the pursuit of science... surprised and confused to find themselves put on probation their first month for things like "ignoring orders." Which is, as best they had thought, a famous Edward Elric pastime.
Roy showing a slight bit of stress about his yearly state alchemist report, and Ed just snorting and rolling his eyes at Roy because every year HE just hastily does his on the train ride over (canon in the manga, a travesty it was left out of the anime) and it gets rubber stamped. Ed not realizing that other alchemists' reports get genuinely scrutinized and torn apart while Ed is free to turn in whatever absolute bullshit he thinks of 36 hours ahead of time. One year his report was about whether alchemy could be done via dance (conclusion: no it can't) and no one cared. Roy WANTS to tell Ed there's some kind of unknown favoritism around Ed making him literally bullet-proof but Roy has no way to phrase this that doesn't sound like he's just in denial and mad at how good Ed's train-reports are.
Guy from the Internal Amestrian Affairs sector who's responsible for auditing other internal military personel for any suspicious activity hitting about 1 million red flags for Edward Elric, issuing a STRONG and URGENT recommendation to suspend the alchemist pending further investigation into things like "literal bunk-buddies with two members of the Xingese royalty (enemy nation)" and "spent $10,000,000 of his stipend on a librarian to make her re-copy (what he seemed to interpret as?) military records in some extremely transparent effort to unearth state secrets (it was a recipe book but he was literally asking her about state secrets)" and "literally has never once obeyed an order, ever, not even once in his career, and is on public record having said 'I do not care about the goals and protections of the Amestrian Military. I am in fact only pursuing my own interests several of which are diametrically opposed to the safety and well-being of the governing body of Amestris'"
The issued recommendation is intercepted before it even reaches its intended desk. President Bradley himself has taken issue with it and denies it before a single set of eyes has seen it. The President's veto stamp is a terrifying hammer, used rarely, and it is now sitting on the auditor's desk.
The auditor sleeps with one eye open from then on out.
