dunno if I should call this a headcanon or a theory and I know Horikoshi just went with what looked cool but the more I think about Dabi's initial design when he came to the League in the context of what we learned about him and what we saw happen to him during the second war, the less sense it makes that his body was already in that state.

according to the anime, he was learning by watching Endeavor's videos online. before Sekoto, he wasn't learning from any source at all and went about his training intuitively, but after Sekoto I strongly doubt he would be actively practicing his quirk, for a multitude of reasons. his body was still healing from the skin transplantation, the trauma associated with accidentally burning himself to death, plainly not having a place to train a fire quirk, which tend to be flashy and to use your quirk in public, having a provisional license is required, otherwise he risks getting arrested. he did a very good job staying out of the public's eye for the 7 years since he escaped AFO, who was also implied to be unaware of Touya surviving for so long.

so as far as we know, all he did for those 7 years is lay low and be very online. which makes his remark to Spinner hilarious ngl, at least Spinner sprung up to action as soon as he saw something that had inspired him, while Dabi had spent 7 whole years sitting on his very personal trauma and not going to therapy.

when Giran brings him to Shigaraki, he doesn't share any information about Dabi save for him being very invested in Stain's ideology. no criminal records, maybe, but not even a word of his absurdly strong quirk? no mentions of arson at all? they did discuss Toga making it to the news, so Dabi being left out like that was a bit weird in the context of the conversation, like him seeking out Stain's contacts was enough reason to let him join the League. he won't be useful to you, Shigaraki, but he's got the spirit. please take him in, he has nowhere else to go?

if you really look at the way Dabi uses his quirk until MVA, it's noticeable how he seems to have no idea what he is doing. there's no technique, no finesse to his moves, just throwing out huge blasts of fire with his hands and hoping for the threat to leave him alone.

when Shigaraki attacked him (fully provoked) his reaction was too slow to summon any flames at all, and if it weren't for Kurogiri, that would have been it for Dabi.

When he is fighting Geten and starts going beyond his limit, he scares himself with the increased fire output. because, yup, overusing his quirk by accident was the source of his trauma.

the databook puts his technique as the weakest of his stats. his power is huge and eventually allowed him to become the strongest fire quirk user in the BNHA universe, but his technique was extremely lacking.

all of the above just doesn't paint the picture of someone who has been consistently mastering his quirk for 7 years. rather, it gives the picture of someone who had just started using his quirk for the first time in years, having background training from his childhood.

it's not even that Dabi isn't hardworking as hell or doesn't have the potential to be trained, because he's a complete opposite. continuously going beyond his limit, despite his own body getting in his way, mastering Enji and Shouto's complicated techniques they have worked for weeks/months/years on in a matter of minutes after just observing it. surely, he has been watching Enji and learning the way his father uses his quirk for years, but putting theory to practice? i doubt he even had the chance, before joining LOV.

he had to wait, because starting to actively use his quirk sets the clock into motion, counting down the time he has left. he is like a candle, destroying himself with his fire, until nothing is left at all. he had to make sure his plan of revenge will have a chance to succeed before fully committing to the 'Dabi' route, a slow and agonizing process of cremating himself by continuously using his quirk. because when he really starts using his quirk for long stretches of time? this is what happens to him.

to conclude this post, I know why the final design was chosen (because it's cool as fuck) but after analyzing the crucial points of Touya's story and his relationship with his quirk, I really think him joining the League with post-coma design would have made more sense. once he had started really using his quirk, his body would slowly degrade to the state Dabi's was in, because his fire literally melts his skin. but his body already having 40% surface third degree burns, when he didn't even use his quirk the entire time, perfectly holding up up until the first war arc and then quickly starting to burn down? idk, seems a bit inconsistent?..

anyway, i love the concept of Dabi's skin slowly and inevitably burning down after he had joined the League. him losing more and more skin until there's barely anything left, when he reveals himself to his father and is bitter at the lack of recognition, because burning himself to the point of being unrecognizable was one of the many sacrifices he had made to be finally seen by Endeavor.

Steve was too in shock to do anything at first. Then he grabbed Eddie by the shirt and pulled him in close, pressing his nose to his neck where his scent was strongest. Eddie did a very good job of keeping still while an omega he was crazy for sniffed at him so intently.

"It really was you", Steve said after a moment, still so close that Eddie could feel his lips move. "Why didn't you ever say anything?"

Eddie's eyes bugged out of his head. "Me!? Why didn't you? You're the one who was all 'have we met before?' You could've-"

"I didn't know! I mean, I didn't remember!", Steve exclaimed as he moved back from Eddie's personal space. Then he frowned. "I was delirious from pushing out an entire human and nearly falling to rejection sickness. What's your excuse for not recognizing me?", he crossed his arms.

"Baby", Eddie smiled fondly and Steve kind of hated how he was starting to melt at that. "In your words, you had just pushed out a whole human. You were looking rather...disheveled", he put gently.

Steve's face had been red and swollen from the effort, glistening with sweat. His hair either stuck to his forehead or a mess of a nest, sticking in the hair. How was he supposed to equate that person with the one in front of him? It had been a day of high stress for both of them. Eddie had just come from visiting his uncle after a bad accident when a nurse asked him in a rush if he was available to assist an omega giving birth.

"My mom was kind of in a similar situation, so I'm told", Eddie said. "My dad had been arrested the night before. Luckily she was able to get a hold of Wayne so he could be with her."

He could still remember the sour scent in the room, nothing like the lovely way Steve smelled now. Even back then, he'd been in disbelief that there hadn't been anyone that locked him down. Not officially, anyway. And still hadn't. Then Eddie realized he could be the one.

"You know I always kinda wondered what happened to the guy and his kid. Glad I got to find out", he beamed. "Did you ever think about the mysterious alpha?"

"Honestly? Yes", Steve replied. During the worst of him and Billy, it would creep up from the back of his mind. "I didn't know anything about him besides the fact that he'd been there when I needed him. And sometimes I'd wonder if he was like that all the time."

Eddie leaned in a little. "And?"

"And, I found out he's been my son's teacher, guiding him through a formative year of his life incredibly well. He's better than I could have ever imagined."

Unable to help himself, Eddie grabbed Steve's face in a careful hold and kissed him. Steve answered with just the right amount of softness, but then pushed him down onto the couch. Eddie let out a small whimper when Steve pushed his leg between his, brushing against him. Steve grinned against his lips and sat up with a mischievous look.

"You took such good care of me. Time to return the favor."

"Holy shit", Eddie breathed out as he watched Steve slide down his body.

Steve unzipped the alpha's pants and opened them up, mouthing and licked at his cock through his boxers, getting it obscenely wet. Eddie was fully hard in record time. One hand gripped the back of the couch. Steve pulled him out and Eddie wasn't even able to look down as he felt that alluring heat surround him. He knew he'd cum instantly.

Steve took the hand that wasn't clutching the couch and put it to his head. "Can you keep my hair out of my face?" He didn't wait for an answer as he put his mouth back on Eddie, sucking away.

Later on, Eddie would think about how the products in Steve's hair did a pretty good job of keeping his hair out of his face and that he'd asked for his own reasons. Eddie thought he was doing well though, fingers digging into his hair and holding it back while Steve went to town on his dick, moaning around it like he was desperate for it.

Eddie was right on the edge when Steve pulled off, suddenly remembering something. He stood up, ignoring the alpha's whines as he pulled him up.

"We've gotta go to the bedroom."

"Oh, yeah, hell yeah." Eddie was all for that.

Steve smirked as he led him by the wrist. He had just remembered that if he had sex with Eddie on the couch there was a chance Shawn would smell that as well. Fragrance spray could only cover so much.

Eddie was so sweet through the whole thing, seeming to not believe that he got to touch Steve like this. Steve encouraged him through the whole thing, wanting to be touched, wanting to be loved on and marked up.

The next morning. Steve's alarm went off, reminding him that he had an alpha to get out of the house before his son got back home. In a flurry of clothes, Eddie got dressed. Steve threw on a robe that went down to his knees, preserving his modesty. He followed Eddie down the stairs, sharing about three kisses at the door before Eddie took off.

He pulled out of the driveway and left at nearly the same time that Robin could be seen walking Shawn from her house. At the last second Steve remembered the spray the living room and kitchen. He had just enough time to light a scented candle before Robin was walking in without knocking.

"The stork has come with your baby delivery~!"

"I'm not a baby", Shawn giggled.

"Oh but you'll always be my baby", Steve pinched his cheeks playfully. "Did you get breakfast yet?"

Shawn nodded. "We made our own smoothies!"

"Then you have just enough energy to finish up your homework", Steve decided.

Shawn tried to negotiate going to the park if he finished but Steve sent him on his way because he was seeing the look on his friend's face and thought it should not be addressed around the ears of children.

"I thought you were done slutting around", Robin grinned, eyeing the robe.

Steve rolled his eyes. "It's not slutting when it's just one guy and I'll take you to court on that. Let me shower and I'll tell you everything."

As he washed up, he thought briefly whether or not Shawn should know. He quickly decided that he would ask Eddie first if he wanted Shawn to know that they had actually met much earlier. Once out of the shower, he texted the question to him, understanding if the alpha wanted to keep it a secret for now.

Just because Eddie had been there for the birth of his child didn't mean this needed to suddenly turn serious. They certainly couldn't be too open about it when Shawn was still his student. Parents and staff would talk. And he didn't want his kid getting caught in the mix.

Eddie's reply came a couple of hours later, when they were at the park. Shawn had successfully negotiated.

Linked Universe College Radio AU

Since I recently got some motivation to work on this one, I figured I would brain dump a little about my LU College Radio AU. It's basically a college/university AU but each of the main LU Links are somehow associated with their college radio station at Kakariko University.

Why radio? I was listening to The Oh Hellos when the idea struck me so each of the works are hopefully going to have titles taken from Oh Hellos songs. This will, hopefully, just mostly focus on the Links + the radio station but who knows? I added way too many characters to this braindump but oh well

Johnny and Janae have, according to research I just decided to do, committed aggravated arson, which can get a max sentence of life. Culpability A, Category 1, so probably around 4-10 years for that AND manslaughter, which can get up to 10 years. The max is like 20 years. Both Martha and her husband will be in their mid 60s or so by the time he gets out (if he doesn't get an early release)

Crimes I think the Hashira were arrested for, but specifically the Kimetsu Academy AU:

- Like his ig story counterpart, Giyuu was once mistaken for being the perpetrator of a very serious murder. Something about his face and speed walking in the area close to the scene coincidentally got him arrested (tsutako was not happy)

- Sanemi was a delinquent in youth but besides throwing students out the window, he’s largely stayed out of trouble now for him mom. So general assault charges

- Muichiro has been talked to by a police man but only in the way that he’s a youngster with an attitude so they assume he’s up to smthn ( he’s not been caught if he did commit a crime ) Also petty theft (like a chocolate bar)

- Kanae got several warning for her plants growing into the neighbours gardens, she refuses to cut them.

- Mitsuri almost got them into an MLM, she fell for it and wanted to show them all the ‘free money’ they could get. Obanai had to explain it to her and she felt so bad

- People always assume Shinobu is younger than she actually is so suspicion tells to roll off of her like water off a ducks back

- Rengoku has disturbed the peace, he’s very loud and has been asked to leave the premises although he’s been getting better with it as of recent. He has also accidentally set fire to many things so accidental arson if that’s a charge

- Gyomei has done nothing wrong and will never do anything wrong

- Tengen has been arrested for speeding, just constantly and he does not show up to court for his ticket fines. Makio also speeds but reasonably.

Jake Kenneth Lee Burghduff, Montana inmate 3035396, born 2002, incarceration intake December 2023 at age 21, sentenced to 15 years, with 10 suspended; scheduled release date not available

Deliberate Homicide

In October 2023, a Ludlow, South Dakota, man was convicted for his role in the murder of a Montana man.

Jake Burghduff, who was found guilty of deliberate homicide by a Prairie County, Montana, jury on Aug. 23, 2023, was given a 15-year sentence in a Montana courtroom with 10 years suspended. Judge Olivia Rieger placed Burghduff, 21, in the custody of the Montana Department of Corrections.

That means he will be evaluated before he is placed in prison, where he would be eligible for parole, or in a treatment facility, or even sentenced to serve his term at his home.  Burghduff was given credit for the 253 days he has served since he was arrested for taking part in the murder of Isaac Carrier, a 30-year-old Fallon, Montana, man.

Carrier was in bed and likely asleep in his apartment when he was shot in the back of the head and killed on January 23, 2023. The apartment was then set on fire. Suspicion immediately centered around another South Dakota man, Sterling Brown of Camp Crook. His wife, Katie Bivens, was previously married to Carrier, and they had a young son, Stetson.

Carrier was engaged in a highly emotional battle over Stetson with Bivens and Brown. A custody hearing on the boy’s status was scheduled for January 25, but Carrier’s death canceled that and placed a bigger issue on the table: Who killed him?

Montana Division of Criminal Investigation agents interviewed Brown and Bivens at the Spearfish, South Dakota, Police Station on January. 31, but they denied any involvement in Carrier’s death. That’s a position they maintain.

Montana investigators learned Burghduff had been with Brown the night of the murder, and asked him for an interview. After at first showing reluctance to talk with them, he drove to Spearfish and met with two agents on February 7.

After hours of interrogation, he confessed to his role in the crime, saying he and Brown met, left their cell phones behind and drove to Fallon on the night of January 23. Both were carrying handguns, and they stopped and bought a gas can and filled it with fuel.

During his trial in August 2023, Burghduff said he didn’t grasp the full nature of their trip until they arrived in Fallon. He said he remained in Brown’s pickup while he went into the small, four-apartment building in the Montana town.

Brown shot Carrier, poured gasoline on his body and throughout the apartment and set it on fire before driving back to South Dakota, Burghduff told the investigators. He said once he realized the crime that had been committed, he drank more beer to get drunk and not think about what had happened.

Burghduff was originally charged with arson and tampering with evidence. But before his trial opened on August 21, he was charged with deliberate homicide.

After a three-day trial in which he did not testify, a jury, made up of six women and six men, returned the verdict of guilty.

At sentencing, the first people to provide victim impact statements were Carrier’s parents, Jackie and Chuck Carrier, his sister Toni Riley and his brother William Carrier. All asked for the maximum possible sentence of 100 years.

All four spoke via Zoom from the family home outside of Lockwood, Missouri. They were at times overcome with emotion, shedding tears as their voices broke.

Chuck Carrier, said he thought Burghduff had to be aware of the reason behind that drive to Montana on January 23, even if he is a person of “low intelligence.”

Burghduff’s parents, Lex Burghduff of Belle Fourche, South Dakota, and Heidi Sallquist of Camdenton, Missouri., as well as his sisters Anniekate Burghduff of Ludlow, South Dakota, and Lexy Ward of Bar Nunn, Wyoming, and two friends spoke on his behalf. Several others submitted written statements of support.

“Jake is my son and best friend,” Lex wrote. “He has been with me on the ranch his whole life.”

He said Brown was a “predator” who took advantage of his son’s good nature and as a way to retaliate against Lex for preventing him from dealing drugs to other young cowboys. Lex said Jake had been used both by Brown and the investigators and urged the judge to allow Jake to return home as soon as possible.

They said he was a kind, gentle and generous person who helped friends and neighbors on a regular basis.

Sallquist said she and her ex-husband shared custody of Jake and Anniekate, but when Jake was home in South Dakota, his father allowed him to drink beer and cocktails at a young age. That prevented him from allowing “his brain a chance to grow and develop,” she wrote.

Sallquist said she agreed with the judge’s decision not to dismiss the case, and said after near-daily calls with her son, she sees him growing and maturing. After dropping out of high school during his senior year because he did want to take classes remotely because of the COVID-19 pandemic, he now wants to complete his studies and obtain a diploma.

“I believe this experience as rough as it is has been a benefit to Jake,” Sallquist wrote.

Judge Rieger took note of Jake’s issues with alcohol. He was 20 years when the murder was committed, too young to legally drink in South Dakota, but he already had a pair of DUIs, as well as a minor in possession charge.

Montana Assistant Attorney General Meghann Paddock spoke for the prosecution, asking for a 40-year prison sentence with 20 years suspended. Prairie County Attorney Dan Rice was at her side but did not speak. Montana Assistant Attorney General Dan Guzynski, who led the team during the trial, was not in the courtroom and watched via remote.

Paddock said it’s still unclear exactly what happened in Fallon that night. While Burghduff insists he did not enter the apartment, a neighbor said she heard cowboy boots in the hallway. Burghduff was wearing boots, while Brown had soft shoes on.

“It’s the state’s position that he told just enough to point the finger at Sterling Brown,” Paddock said.

Burghduff was represented by Montana public defenders Hailey Forcella and Michael Haase of Miles City. Haase said he disagrees with the decision handed down by the jury, noting they come from a rural county with a low population and likely felt pressure to return a guilty verdict.

“This was not an easy decision,” he said, with some jurors in tears and wearing a defeated look on their faces when the verdict was read, in his view.

Haase also said Judge Rieger had come close to dismissing the case during the trial. She called a lengthy recess at one point before allowing the trial to continue.

“It’s clear, at least to me, that this court was very close to dismissing this charge,” he said. Rieger confirmed that as she announced the sentence. “It is very clear, the court did not enjoy this case at all,” she said. Rieger also said the jury’s verdict may be reversed. “I believe your appellate motions will have merit,” she said.

Haase said while his client had many several poor choices, he had not committed a crime. He said Burghduff was taken advantage of by an older man who talked him into riding along on a deadly mission even though Burghduff has no reason to harm Carrier.

“This is not justice,” Haase said. “The state has simply got this case wrong.”

Burghduff, who was silent throughout his trial, was sworn in and answered questions from the judge about his assets. He said he owns $22,000 worth of cattle and horses, along with saddles and some other items, and owes almost $18,000, mostly for a surgery he had in August 2022.

Burghduff, who was wearing white-and-orange striped jail clothing, declined an offer to make a statement.

She said Burghduff’s problems with alcohol were likely a factor in his participation in this crime. During a pre-sentence investigation, he said he started drinking heavily when he was 15.

She ordered him to undergo an alcohol use assessment, an anger management review and a mental health evaluation. During his time in DOC custody, he must complete a GED course to obtain the equivalent of a high school degree.

The judge also urged him to make better choices in friends.

“You are a follower,” Rieger said. “Please work on that.”

As of May 2024, a trial for Brown had not been conducted. He was released from custody in November 2023 on a $1 Million bond.

Personality Headcanons: He tends to have a bad habit of avoiding his problems. He tries to keep himself busy so he's not alone with his thoughts for too long. If he has absolutely nothing to do, he sits outside with an acoustic to keep his hands busy. Spanish was his first language and he often mispronounces English words. His mother handmade most of his gabàns. When he was really young and still lived on the surface he loved looking up at the stars. When he was in middle school he had a phase where he hated humans but grew out of it. He was comphet with Ceroba in high school but she clocked him and broke up with him. They stayed friends for a really long time anyway. He's ambidextrous. He's Ceroba's age so ~40-43. A lot of people interpret his sprite as having shade over his eyes but I like to think of it like a bandit mask.... that's prescription. His safety goggles are also prescription. He's really near sighted. He's also a pretty solid horse rider. You can't tell me this man DOESN'T smoke weed idc. He listens to southern rock, country, latino rock, and classic rock.

He was really out of it, sort of dazed, for several weeks while he just tried to get back to work. He was a little torn between continuing trying to be the town's sheriff or going back to being a farmer. So, until then he just helped his parents out with whatever they needed. As he did, he reconnected with his childhood. He looked back at the boy he used to be, but unable to forget about Clover, he never forgot about the man he wanted to become. Clover had been so excited to meet a real-life cowboy that it almost felt disrespectful to throw out that pipedream now. So, he tried to find a middle ground between the two. Some days he'd be up at the first crack of dawn working in the field and other times he'd be the figurehead of his town, keeping the peace and keeping spirits high. Eventually he managed to pull himself out of a continuous low mood. Because of that, he managed to clear his mind enough to move on through the stages of grief. He and Ceroba got into a fight over what had happened. He felt like he owed it to Clover to at least try. Finally ending on the note that his freedom wasn't worth the life of someone he viewed as his own flesh and blood child - unlike what Ceroba did to her child which really WAS her blood. Their long-time friendship came to a bitter end, and he found himself turning to alcohol as a coping mechanism for a few months before a heartfelt talk with Ace pulled him back to his senses.

At one point when he was working in the field his mother called him inside and said she had finally finished the gabàn she had been making for Clover - he had requested it several months or so at this point but forgot to tell her what had happened. Re-opening old wounds he told her what had happened. He kept the gabàn and keeps it on his guitar case. Like Martlet, it was probably another decade or so before he really felt like his life was starting to move on. He had only known Clover for maybe a couple weeks at most but losing them felt like losing his own kid. He didn't know how long Clover was planning to stick around but had full intentions to legally adopt them. He successfully managed to move on, but he never forgot them.

Opinions: Like I said before he's my favorite character in this specific game. He's that right mix of serious and silly that really scratches an itch in my soul. His design is peak, it just speaks to me. I literally remember yelling at my TV when his design got revealed because I loved it instantly. HOWEVER, I do think that maybe his character could have been written a little better. It's pretty clear he's a complex character but the way he was written I feel like didn't fully convey that. 4/5.

🍮THE SILLY CHAOZ OF FLANNY N CONNOR🔥 x SUPERMAN CROSSOVER HEADCANONS 🤯

Warning: Angst and mentions of guilt :)

It all started when Superman saved both Connor and Flanny when there was a huge fire going on at their apartment, and the twist is that Connor was the one who committed arson and tried to jokingly blame it on a rock as if he didn’t just casually set his own apartment on fire, which could’ve killed his friend Flanny. Superman wasn’t buying Connor and Flanny’s bullshit, but surprisingly they didn’t get arrested and Superman would just be like “don’t do it again lol” and then fly away.

No matter how terribly unhinged both Connor and Flanny are as citizens of Earth, Superman still saved them from the chaos they committed themselves. Leading them to start overthinking abt why tf he would save two people despite how casually coo-coo crazy they are together on a daily basis. Connor would be like: “Dude 💀” and Flanny would be just: “🤨😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫???” Because they never expected someone with a good heart to save them no matter what.

Day after day and night after night, Superman kept on saving them and the rest of other citizens in metropolis city. But Connor and Flanny never said “thank you” to him in person, no praise for him, just plain confusion about the symbol of.. hope..?

Both Flanny and Connor would feel.. terrible about themselves while watching the news about the same hero saving everyone else, including them despite the chaos they caused together either over nothing or just for entertainment. Despite the fact that they’re both casually aggressive for the sake of your entertainment and seemingly appear to lack their morality, they felt like they don’t deserve him..

Connor was sadly guilty, but not because of the chaotic circumstances of arson, it’s just that he’s starting to think that Superman doesn’t deserve to pay attention to them because of how they were in general. Flanny thought the same thing, but she wasn’t quiet about it, instead she would just stress-eat with flan.

Flanny n Connor both agreed to move out of metropolis and never to be seen again, mainly as to display that “they don’t wanna be saved because they don’t deserve it”, never to be heard again from Superman and the other citizens as they head back to their own home that was not metropolis.

Superman would wonder where they could be and why they’re not here, and no one has a clue. Despite having powerful abilities seen as amazing, he still cannot find them. It’s like Connor and Flanny just disappeared.. =(
