i always talk about being sad when i’m sad, so lets add some positivity to my blog, shall we?

(basically a long story about me being a big softie about friendship)

I really like one of my coworkers (friend from work? maybe) and she lives in another city (we’re fully remote). and like we really vibe, i think we’re v alike - similar sense of humor, both chronically online/into fandom- but also with some differences and we could have a v good friendship if we could hang out more often

Anyway, we had a work event this last week so we saw each other in person and it’s always fun! It ended on saturday, we went home, but she had to come to my city for a meeting tomorrow morning so i offered for her to stay over at my place (so she could arrive today and not travel early) AND SHE ACCEPTED??

like i was(am) GENUINELY excited to have her over??!! and i know she (like me) is v much a homebody so she truly wouldn’t accept it if she didn’t feel comfortable (she was allowed to stay at a hotel for the night) so i was v happy/honored to like, get this token of trust?? it might sound crazy but it is meaningful, and lately/post pandemic i became completely unaccustomed to making friends (all my friends - which are few - are v old ones). even more so as an adult, i’m so aware of how intentional you have to be in order to get close to someone and it’s been so long i felt this excited to hang out with someone

New subject appears to be of undocumented species. Bioluminescent membrane may be used in hunting, further research pending. Length of tail may point to relations with local snake species? Unlikely, research pending. Thin tail and visible bone structure may point to possible malnutrition/starvation.

Subject appears to be very young. Subject class 223 likely to assume paternal role again as he it did with [REDACTED]. Subject class 223 demonstrates remarkable tolerance with new subject, developing new behavioral patterns in response to that of the new subject. Integration into subject class 223’s pod pending? Further observation required.

Behold, more old men! Not the most confident with getting Kalims face the way I want it to look (bear with me, most of these sketches are from earlier this year) but he exists! It's very important to me that he lives a long life in at least one timeline

Small notes on their faces/wrinkles: -Jamil has more wrinkles around his forehead/eyebrows with a sharper cheek bone. -Kalim's eyebrows have a feathered effect where it tapers outwards, and he's got a more prominent crows feet.

like so! I'm hoping to flesh them out more as I study older features, but these are the main points for now

Misc notes under the cut 🐍🦦

-He puts up a stoic face so that others won't bother him, but the kids of Silk City regard Jamil as an eccentric figure with lots of fun stories to tell about his travels. He's well loved.

-Kalim uses a cane to walk and is the frailer of the two. He's a little more subdued with age and his memory is poor, but he's always able to recount his memories of NRC, friends and Jamil with a bright smile and waay too many side plots. Jamil still holds himself with a strong gait and would rather keel over than be assisted, but he's got the worse eyesight (side effect of his signature spell) and experiences minor body aches in his arm/hands. -I think this kind of just goes on par with the regular scarabia/jamikali antics but they're casual with their skin ship, neither really notices unless it's called out. You'll often find one supporting the other with a hand by the waist while they walk.

-Though he's chided for it, Kalim makes it a routine to look after Jamil's hands every morning (it's important!) On the opposite, Jamil is the one that encourages Kalim to walk with him, even if it's only for short periods. In their later years, carpet is often accompanying them to help out when it can.

-When his strength begins to decline and he's bedridden, Kalim resorts to using his water magic to communicate. Jamil doesn't like it, but it's more of what it entails rather than the gesture. He talks more to fill the silence, sometimes responding back with his own magic. -Kalim's the first to go. Depending on how his life panned out, Jamil either stays in Silk City for the remainder of his days (if he came back to retire) or leaves to go on one final adventure, taking carpet with him (if he stayed with Kalim.)

-The detail of him wearing Kalim's feather accessory was inspired from a fic collection ! I'm happy it was noticed

restarted learning how to crochet - and actually made some progress!

watched chasing the dream from oscar’s F2 season

drove a while on saturday morning while belting taylor swift, always good

played the NYT sudokus, the hard one is so cool and i improved from saturday to sunday

was kinda maybe sorta a bit more open with my friend about why i never hang out ( how do i say “too depressed soz” without making it weird? )

and yes, i did cry and feel miserable saturday night, but so is life ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hello everyone! It’s been a while! I didn’t mean to stay away for so long, and for that I apologise. Looking through my inbox, I’m touched that I’ve been missed. I’ve missed you all too! Thank you for checking in, and I plan on replying to all my messages asap. 

Now, considering it’s been over half a year, maybe you can already guess, but sadly I have stopped writing fanfic. I think deep down I knew 9 months to fall in love would be my last - I really put my all into that story - but I just didn’t want to admit it to myself. I’ve wanted to log in and interact with you all numerous times, but I thought a break would be best for me until I officially decided (and accepted) what to do. 

This isn’t goodbye though! 

While away, I have been (slowly) writing an original novel. I have 25k written right now and in the new year I really hope to share more details with you! Your support and excitement as I attempt to publish my own book would truly mean the world to me 🤧 

I’ve been on this site for seven years and I never imagined to gain the amount of readers I have. The love I’ve received over the years will always mean so much to me. I cherish every moment I spent writing for bts. Without them, none of it would have been possible. Because of them I discovered my joy for writing. I will always cherish this space. All the friends I made, the interactions I had with you all, whether it was anonymous or not. All the stories I posted. It all made me very happy 🥺

Of course, I do plan on sticking around, awaiting and celebrating bts’ return with you all. I just won’t be very active, but I would absolutely LOVE it if you stayed around for this new journey I’m attempting to embark on. I will keep you posted!
