Hes dead silent but his quirk is like. If you do a specific button command at the beginning it gives like a solid snake/pitt audio thing between Barney, Alyx, Dr. Kliener, Eli and sometimes Gman where they banter about the different fights on stage, very complex but a multigender cat creature can dream 💠

Something that occurred to me when discussing the concept of hlvrai2 with a friend was that, if they plan to use the game Half Life 2, there are no existing models in that game for Dr.Coomer or Tommy. Barney and Dr.Kleiner fill the role of Benry and Bubby but if they want to use the others and not just port in the hl1 models like they did in the acab stream, they'll have to have models made. Wayne has said he wants to have a higher production value in the sequel so it would make sense to get bespoke models both for aesthetic and practical purposes (custom models and rigs mean a lot finer control over what animations and such they can do).

And it got me imagining: if they already need to do Coomer and Tommy (and Darnold and Forzen if they reappear), it makes sense to get custom models for the whole team. Which really got me imagining: unique science team models

Like, not just "copy the look of the hl1 npcs to hl2 style/quality" but like, specifically made to look like the science team as individuals. As simple as different colored shirts or maybe sharp teeth for Bubby or Benry. Actual robotic looking "extendo-arms" Coomer. Tommy with eyes that can glow like the g-man's.

I just feel like that so fits the whole theme of the series: of these 'meaningless background npcs' who, through the story, gained their own personalities, histories, and emotions. Taking that to the next step of having them not even be npc models taken from the game but their own models just for them as the new and individual people they've become is just..... I'M SOFT.

♦ - quirks/hobbies headcanon 

Kleiner? Headcrabs, debeaking headcrabs. You thought he only debeaked Lamarr, well nope. He tries with that hobby of him to kind of “breed” a new kkind of Headcrab that is not dangerous to humans anymore.

Also reading old Magazines and daydreaming about the “good” times of Black Mesa.

Quirks. Well since he offered Lamarr to jump on his head, then that this sometimes happened. And the first time somone sees that, they freak out, they freak out bad.

Gordon

His Hobby before Black Mesa was probably reading, playing some video games, using the (slow) Internet and of course hanging out with Barney. (They liked to talk about consbiracy Theroys or played on Land Partys these weird Game called Counter Strike ;-.))

Quirk: He doen’t speak much on purpose. mostly because he thinks sometimes it’s better not to say something or because he dosen’t has to say something. He really, really likes Alien Weapons like the Snarks but also the Antlions, and when he took a break druing all that Running and shooting and shooting and running. Believe it or not he played with that Ant Lions

Alyx Vance

In her free times she likes Exploring, of course not without a weapon. Looking trough old Mine Shafts and Caves that probably are not infested with Headcrabs or Antlions. Climbing a three or on a rock, or on some high position so she could look and enjoy the view. Also she likes old Stuff from the Pre 7 Hour War times. The old Technology and she asks Gordon questions about it.

Quirk: Pranks Magnusson. Because when he gets annoyed she just thinks it’s really funny. She dosen’t do somethign too serious. just from time to time she hides a tool and he has to search.

Dr. Mossman 

Reading and do Experiments. She is fascinated by Portal Technology and it also became a Hobby of her. She likes to read trough old newspapers or history books before the Resonance Cascade happened.

But you know what, I bet she also enjoys table football (wich of course can’t be known) ;-.) But also one

A quirk: I think when stressed she would either way chew on her finger nails or go with on hand trough her hair. Also when impatient she tabs with the foot.

♒ - cooking/food headcanon 

Since he had to seach for so many, Kleiner enjoys Watermelons but also other kinds of different exotic fruits. Unfortunatly they are hard to get. He never cooked for himself and mostly ate in the canteen of Black Mesa, or now what he gets from Barney or Alyx. Also he refuses to eat Headcrab

Gordon would be somone who ate fast food or instant food. Like Instand Noodles or Pizza from the Fridge, a Hamburger from Mc Donalds. He never put time into cooking and mostly ordered food via phone. He really liked Chicken Wings

Thats why he now enjoys the legs of fast Headcrabs (He thinks, they taste…..quite simmilar.)

Alyx can cook suprisingly well…suprisingly because it’s not easy to find the goods to cook in such desperate Times. He got it from her father and she really enjoys it. Most of the stuff she needs she gets by herself or trades it. She also sends Dr.Kleiner or Barney some time food.

She has a Sweet Tooth, since it’s kind of hard to get on things like Cake, or Ice Cream or even just candied food (She still once found a whole Black Forest Cherry Cake, and shared it with the other rebels and her father.). But she also likes foot that is fast cooked or made. Likes Salad or noodles with some sauce, since it’s important not to waste time.

Like Gordon Dr.Mosmann dosen’t put time into cooking. Well not much she can cook, easy dishes nothing great. But she did it when she was sick of always ordering food.

She really likes and enjoys fresh vegetables, also goods that are hard to get. Also from time to time she wished she would maybe get a bar of white chocolate with macadamia nuts (that were her favourite)

☠ angry/violent headcanon

Barney is, when he is  angry. Not angry one the outside, but in the inside.

Most of the time he is when he is angry has some angry thoughts (Like for example a thought how he finnaly would get rid of Lamarr. Or how he would tell doctor Kleiner violently how sick he is because of that Headcrab)

But sometimes if there is enough anger he can blow up and believe me, you don’t want to see that. (Dr.Kleiner somehow can sense that and tells him he can take his anger out in a room, where he can’t be heard goot, and believe me he takes it out.)

☾ - sleep headcanon 

Before Half-Life took place he was not only a heavy sleeper, but also somone who would sleep long. This would then change of course do of his security guard job. He would has to wake up earlyer of course.

After Half-Life took place that changed drastically. He would be awake fast if you would try to wake him up. Always has a weapon under his bed. And the Cat, the Cat haunts him in his dreams.

♡ - romantic headcanon

Barney once has/had a girlfriend. Lauren, she really likes/liked Flowers. They really loved/love each other. With the Post Resonance Cascade World they are still together, and love each other deeply, that’s why they are such a good team in compact.

She is right now (Half Life 2 Setting, Ep1, Ep2) on an Mission outside of City 17, but Barney and Lauren communicated witch each other as possible at it is.

♥ - family headcanon

He came from a family with many, many Simblings. He had a big Family. His grandparents also lived with them. He was one of the smaller silblings and didn’t got that much affection like his older brothers and sisters. Still his mother loved him. Him father was at the Police and his mother worked in an Office.

Barney probably wouldn’t be that much open for having a family. Mostly because of all the danger that still is out there or would be out there (Even with the Combine gone, a child could still be attacked by an Headcrab)

▼childhood headcanon 

Like I said he didn’t got much attention from his mother or father since the family was big and busy. But he liked to listen to the Storys from his Grandfather and Grandmother (Both Conspiracy Theorists and claim to have seen what happened at Rosevelt.) He liked it to wander trough the woods or grass, imagening to fight agains aliens or mythical beings (Heh, if he would knew.) In School he was, well B,C and sometimes a D as a grade I would guess. Also he defendet School Colleagues that got bullied (Maybe Gordon got maybe bullied because he wore some embrassing glasses when he was a child?).

When Barney gets older his sight might not be the best anymore. He breathed in some really nasty Chemicals thanks to the Combine. He probably also will look older than he is, due of all the stress and that happened during the War and in Black Mesa. One of the Things after the War, when he is older,  he wants to accomblish is to find out what happend to Dr.Rosenberg. He probably will tell stories till his death, storys to the future generation, about what happened and what he saw. And what may can come to this world.
