Understanding Full Duplex vs Half Duplex: Key Differences
Understanding the disparities between full duplex vs half duplex communication is crucial in the realm of networking and telecommunications. Full duplex enables simultaneous two-way communication, allowing data to flow in both directions concurrently. This means that devices can both send and receive data simultaneously, enhancing efficiency and reducing latency. On the other hand, half duplex communication only permits data transmission in one direction at a time, necessitating a switching of roles between sender and receiver. While full duplex offers superior performance and speed, half duplex may suffice for applications where bidirectional communication isn't constant or critical. Therefore, comprehending the distinctions between full duplex vs half duplex is fundamental for designing efficient and effective communication systems tailored to specific needs.

Genuine question:
Landlords are bastards, whether they own one building or one thousand. We know this. I'm not arguing that point.
But does it change anything if they live in the building with you?
Like, person renting out a few rooms in their house, person renting out half their duplex, person with a too-big condo renting it out. Still landlord bastardry, or something more complicated?

so, kaine and aracely get an expensive RV to live in, in the 2020s, in-universe. the issue later on is of course that there are stairs, and eventually (like 10 years later) kaine is going to have a lot of trouble with stairs, w/ his health problems and disabilities worsening as he gets middle aged.
i also have peter and flash move back into peter's childhood home after aunt may eventually dies (actually technically a little bit before that, so he can take care of her)...
asking myself where kaine and aracely move when kaine can't get around very well anymore and wondering if it might be that they move in with peter and flash 🤔
not that peter and kaine will ever have a totally unstrained relationship but by that point they're both much more mellow and peter is ultimately kind of paternalistic and cares about his family, and is always trying to take care of people, etc. so i could see peter not just allowing it but insisting that kaine and aracely move in with them, even if it means (god forbid) living with a decrepit 18 year old cat and a weirdly serious doberman who doesn't quite trust peter.
not 100% sure though... 🤔 four people with one bathroom isn't ideal 😂 maybe peter builds a bathroom when he renovates the shed into a workshop lol

My biggest frustration with the left has always been the inability/unwillingness to work on making progress inside of the system while advocating for greater change.
I remember the first time I came to this realization.
I was nineteen, pregnant. We couldn’t afford to heat the house because we couldn’t afford the deposit to turn the gas on. It was miserably cold. The duplex we were renting was old and rickety and drafty. The window frames were messed up and there were cracks you could stick your finger through that were open to the elements.
Just, like, to give you an idea where we were financially. And this was better than we’d been doing before!
Anyway, I had recently started going to DSA meetings. And that month, they were talking about how a moderate democrat had successfully gotten a small increase in WIC benefits monthly. It came out to, like, $10 a month.
The members talking—mostly male, almost all doing decent—were scornful. The democrat should have pushed harder and gotten more, refused to accept anything until everyone else caved to their demands. I remember sitting there, quietly drinking the latte in the smallest size they had that I had bought with scrounged quarters, listening. Wishing it wasn’t held in an indie coffee shop because it was a luxury I really couldn’t afford, but it would be rude not to. Enjoying the coffee anyway.
I was one of the lucky ones who was getting that additional $10 a month through WIC. Even more exciting, we were now getting a voucher for the farmers’ market. I casually mentioned that WIC recipients would now be getting farmers’ market vouchers, too.
The guy who organized the meetings was a hard worker, passionate guy. Did something in tech.
He was like, “That’s the thing! These people don’t want farmers market vouchers. They want—” and he went on to describe a bunch of pie in the sky desires. That, yeah, sounded good.
But one. I was one of those people! A lot if the tamiles were super excited about it, myself included.
I had never been to a farmers’ market before. I tried arugula for the first time, a piece pulled from a bunch by the grower as he explained the flavor difference. I hadn’t known before then that different lettuce greens had different flavors, that it was more than just the texture and shape. I tried pesto, which delighted me. Goat cheese. I got three full pounds of strawberries for two dollars, since they were closing soon and the old man selling the berries got a kick out of me.
Anyway. It was like, you have a decent life. Not great but decent! The things that are life changing for me, for us… you already have.
The ten dollars at the grocery store made the difference between a meal of broken-noodles-with-some-half-horrible-pantry-scraps and a meal. It kept me full and healthy! And the additional farmers’ market voucher was world changing for me.
The democrat who worked for those things barely got them through. And it was means tested to hell and back. They weren’t able to get everything they wanted. But what they got made such a huge difference for me, for people like me.

Choosing the Right Mode: Decoding Full Duplex vs. Half Duplex Networks
When designing and implementing communication networks, the choice between full duplex vs half duplex modes plays a crucial role in determining the efficiency and effectiveness of data transmission. Full duplex communication allows for simultaneous two-way data flow, enabling devices to both send and receive information concurrently. On the other hand, half duplex communication permits data transmission in only one direction at a time, requiring devices to alternate between sending and receiving. The decision between full duplex vs. half duplex depends on various factors such as network requirements, bandwidth considerations, and cost implications. Full duplex networks offer the advantage of faster data transfer and reduced latency due to simultaneous bidirectional communication, making them suitable for applications demanding real-time interaction. In contrast, half duplex networks are often more cost-effective and find utility in scenarios where continuous two-way communication is not a critical requirement. Ultimately, the choice between full duplex and half duplex networks necessitates a careful evaluation of the specific needs and constraints of the communication environment.

You Didn't Do Enough Geographical Research For That Movie/TV Show, a game I love
The Handmaid's Tale: when June and Moira are trying to escape the Red Center, they mention trying to get into downtown Boston. but the subway station they enter has a sign that says "ARLINGTON" being removed. there IS an Arlington, Massachusetts outside the city- but it doesn't have a subway station. the real Arlington Station is in the middle of the Back Bay...in downtown Boston
The Handmaid's Tale again: Moira and Emily are comparing notes on the gay scene in Boston, and Moira says Emily seems "like a Somerville kind of girl" and mentions her going to Club Cafe in the same breath. Club Cafe, a well-known Boston gay bar, is also in the Back Bay, and Somerville is a suburb north of the city
Also The Handmaid's Tale: there are way too many hyper-modern buildings for that to believably look like the Boston area. I get that they filmed this in Toronto, but they could at least...TRY to make it look like the city it's set in? probably more than half of the buildings here are pre-1920s. June and Luke apparently live in Somerville- they take the Red Line, so I'm guessing around Davis? but their apartment is once again super-modern. most apartments in that area are duplexes built around 1910-1920
Legally Blonde: Brooke apparently has a pool and a pool house while living on Beacon Hill. Beacon Hill is mostly row houses with very little outdoor space- while apparently some do have small and/or indoor pools, it's extremely unlikely for any to also have a pool house. there just isn't any room for it
Also Legally Blonde: that doesn't look like Cambridge. at all. come on, now
Legally Blonde again: 45 Dunster Street (not "Dunston" as they said in the movie), Cambridge, doesn't have a lawn or a long front drive. it's right on the street, with just a bit of sidewalk in front. it's also not a residential house- in 2001, it was the home of the Fly Club, an all-male Harvard social club
Brooklyn 99: at one point, a criminal's alibi is that he was at a nightclub in Cape May, New Jersey. Cape May is a very quiet family-friendly resort town, with lots of Victorian summer houses converted into BnBs. my dad's cousin used to own one; we went to visit her a few times. it's not a nightclub type of place at all
