hot takes [pt. ii]

good[e] morning campers! we have more thoughts on \_ |_ | _/ RuPaul’s Drag Race episode 9... because i have nothing better to think about... lol. This is a novel, btw.

SO... I have said it before and i will say it again... the in memorium segment gave me life. Robot Barbie Cheerleader. also RIP to jan’s clear drink in untucked.

Let’s get into the gig, because why not. Unsure if readers are aware, but I am very politically minded. [do I use tumblr as a way to put politics aside for a little while? sure. but I have also worked on campaigns, did not take Elizabeth warren dropping out of the presidential race well... I mean she dropped at the beginning of march and now look at where we are.... anyWAYs.]

I did not like this episode. I did not like the challenge. From what I understand, the only other time this challenge was done was in season 4, but I stopped watching season 4 when sharon wore a conf*derate flag bodysuit for a mini challenge, prior to which she wore a mccain/palin shirt. I still don’t know if it was a joke, but #yeet.

So this episode took the place of a “roast”/ stand up episode. Those are usually fine. They separate folks a little bit more. But, as someone who followed the recent primary with a VERY close eye, but was could also be humorous about it... Debates are hard to do. What makes a debate work is that everyone is well versed on everyone else’s platform, and knows how to attack them, because they have been the same person the whole time. For some reason, everyone “invented” a different character to play.... no one had a real platform... and it’s really hard to ~volley~ when people don’t really understand everyone’s characters. I also think, similar to the democratic primary- that there were too many people on stage. I also think snatch game happened too early... but that’s another story never mind anyway [did you catch that into the woods/bernadette peters joke???? @ JAN ].

So everyone has these “characters” which for the most part are not super consistent with who they’ve been portraying on the show... which makes it challenging. Then, it was moderated very poorly, and then edited together very poorly. There was no flow... it was very choppy. Again... not a fan.

Season 8 also had a political challenge, but if i remember correctly, that was just a branding challenge kind of. It was better than this. Now, do I appreciate the fact that Drag Race is taking this election very seriously?? YES. But this challenge was just Not It.

I thought Jaida was very consistent, I liked Jackie’s a lot [It seems like a running gag that she is too prepared in the same way that Jan was too energetic... which has its own election flashbacks....] I am really enjoying crystal... I thought she also had what was close to a fully formed character.. it just needed to bake a little more.

So... next up... ms. goode. #cringe. tbh I don’t care about the performance. Were they just trying to redo snatch game? basically. were they the only person to try and do that? No.

This mirror chat was the bomb dot com tho. best part of the episode.

We’re talking about the “oh i’m not political” We knew from episode one that Gigi grew up in a lot of privilege- and wasn’t the only one [@ jan] but jesus has it shown in gigi the most... I mean bob the drag queen said it best.. Gigi goode’s mom vs Jaida Essence Hall.

But the nerve to openly say “i’m not political, and I don’t like it” when you KNOW at this point in time what the contestants have gone through... it’s just really insensitive. Also to be the open front runner knowing that the RPDR fans can be young and impressionable.. is really irresponsible TBH.

Guess what? I don’t like to follow the news sometimes. I don’t watch tr*mp’s press conferences. Sometimes I log off twitter and go to tumblr. But I still stay INFORMED on the issues and am able to back up my positions. I VOTE. [cannot believe i’m saying this but i would not be surprised if gigi did not vote in 2016.]

Maybe it’s bc I stan jan in a way that I have stanned no one else before [the only ru girl who even comes close to it while I was actively watching the show without prior knowledge is naomi] Maybe it’s combined with the quarantine that I have nothing else to do. And with that comes a [virtual] introduction to basically everybody who’s anybody in the NYC drag scene. [I will say the Bob-Monet-Cracker-Jan quad is just A+] So maybe I just have a better idea of what it is [have I gone down a Youtube rabbit hole on this subject? yes]

Is new york also my personal favorite city? yes. Have I been to LA? no. Do I like the concept of LA? no. Have I been west of the mississippi river? no. So maybe it’s a combination of all of these things [including Jan saying on repeat that New York is the greatest city to do drag] but. The NYC girls are just so much more political. Brita, Bob, MOnet, tbh Jan is also on the record saying some A+ shiz. Marti Cummings is a non binary drag artist running for city council in manhattan. “Everybody black and aquaria.”

Is NYC politics like any city, full of machines and garbage too? Sure. But NYC is just so much more powerful and political. LA is just the embodiment of privilege.

I also think it’s interesting that some of the smaller town/city gals will move to LA [Trixie/Katya/Alaska? I’m looking @ you] after they get the drag race coin. Not that it’s a bad thing or anything, it’s just an interesting dynamic. [another aside: the non NY/LA girls deserve it all and i think it’s really powerful when the show directly addresses issues of wealth/privilege/access to drag on the show.]

And Gigi came into the competition saying “I want to be on vogue” which is great. Their fashion sense is great. Most of their outfits are great. It’s great that they can do comedy [sometimes- like when they are not playing the role of Gigi] But something else I take issue with- and don’t get me wrong humility is great- is the whole “I’m not a dancer” that’s BS. they whole back handspring etc, madonna challenge. Maybe you weren’t a trained dancer, but ffs cut the crap. [if you haven’t look up gigi goode showgirls]

And yet the judges continue to give Gigi [and SP] free passes. It’s like Ru is so afraid that if either of them end up in the bottom, they won’t turn it out and then there will be no frontrunner. Well guess what? In season 7, Max had 2 wins before anyone else and came in 9th. valentina going home was a total gag. Brooke and Yvie lip synced on the snatch game ep. But Apparently when the skinny white fashion queen from the big city [gigi, aquaria] does less than well, they don’t get put up for elimination??? [did aquaria deserve to lip sync for the makeover? idk.]

Gigi is getting a “winner” edit and it’s not really fair to anyone. People who should have won certain challenges were IGNORED, and instead the producers give all the credit to gigi, giving them almost a worse edit. Like we want to see humans, not robots. If we learned ANYTHING from last week is that the judges don’t like when you just “start on 100 and stay there THE WHOLE TIME”. Bc the truth is that [aside from the loads and loads and loads of privilege,] Gigi is really nice and very talented. But I, as a viewer of reality TV, live to see the perfect fail. I want everyone to shine [this is why I loved when Naomi sent manila home, oops]

Also.. I would like to address the fact that Gigi basically used the same outfit twice... this runway and entrance look have almost the same pattern, with just a slightly different skirt type. I would like for this behavior to be called out bc it is such a memorable silhouette.

Also- Shout out to Crystal for the most bomb ass runway... I want that whole outfit pls.

but aside from that... TBH I just want a show with the real top 7 [ the heidi and widow have been cracking me up saying “we’re at top 5″ or “we’re at top 6″ before the ep aired on instagram and I’m loling.. and that VERY AWK moment when Jan is on the x change rate saying that they couldn’t justify putting anyone other that her and widow in the bottom bc gigi and 3 wins and trying to work around not saying SP’s name had 2. [also shout out to jan the real mvp for unfollowing SP on twitter]] doing competitions and having fun. And I’ve said this before. This is a really good season that did not need production’s handprints all over everything. But they chose to cast RuPaul’s Best Friend Race, so they shouldn’t be complaining or trying to manufacture drama.

I was cracking up when Jaida was [clearly prodded by producers] asking is there anything we need to talk about? and then Jackie goes to talk to widow right before they leave and they are just nice to each other. lol no drama here. It’s the season of the inner saboteur.

So Jackie and widow are in the bottom and tbh I don’t know. I would have liked to see Gigi lip sync. I would have liked this challenge to not happen. but it did. The lip sync song.. I just didn’t love the cut... Katy perry’s voice is so over produced [trend alert] that the illusion of the lip sync didn’t work in the first chorus. Jackie’s plastic bag was just A+. These lip syncs, tbh starting w jan v widow have been very good. not good enough to make up for the garbage that was everything since ep. 3, but close. [and some of that was song choice, some of it was not. I will say brita killed her first one but rip to rock]

Jeff gold bloom. I just don’t know. Maybe it’s bc I never saw jurassic park. Maybe he was just a bad judge. maybe he too was being prodded by production. ugh. You can read the takes on his interactions with jackie somewhere else.

he’s always ready to jump on stage and for his very best, and you can see it everytime he smiles at the end of his performance

as a trainee he was one of the best rappers since he had such an amazing sense of rhythm as doyoung mentioned

music is more than just his job, it’s his passion and he genuinely enjoys learning and experiencing music

his undying love for Michael Jackson

his heart shaped smile that really rivals the sun itself.

his smile is so pure and sincere it can make anyone’s day better

his confidence in his tanned skin, even though some people tease him for it he’s always so loving about his own skin color.

his constant need for physical affection whether it be hugging his members or trying to give Mark cheek kisses

hes not afraid to show his love adoration for members

his laugh and the way he almost falls over from laughing too hard

the fact that he cooks for the members from time to time, showing how much he truly cares for them

mood maker of the group!!! he’s always trying to make everyone happy and keep the team energized with his jokes or random acts!

he’s more considerate than people make him out to be. although people keep teasing Jeno for being “No Jam” he said Jeno is really one of the funniest members as a compliment and Jeno was so smiley throughout the rest of the vlive.

the way he smiles so fondly at the younger members and is always looking out for them

his passion for dancing. even though he’s the vocalist in the group, his dancing skills are truly commendable. he has sharp memory when it comes to dance and he enjoys learning to choreo to sooo many songs!!

the way he calls himself fullsun in English!

his taste in music, he listens to amazing songs across so many different genres, and loves recommending songs to us as well which is so adorable

the way he styles himself! he knows what looks good on him but he’s not afraid to try new things

the fact that he collects LPs! he loves collecting LPs of his favorite albums, and you can see the glimmer of excitement in his eyes when he spotted a few of his fav in LA

his cute tarot readings! also in LA he bought a pack of tarot cards and did some readings for the members and he was so engrossed and into it!

when he’s deeply invested in something, he suddenly goes all quiet and concentrates.

his love for video games! he keeps complaining saying he’s not the best at them but he still tries regardless and enjoys himself!

his voice. his voice is so soothing and gentle, it’s honestly so angelic sm pls let him release a solo track

he can play the piano really well and it’s one of his favorite hobbies !!

he respects shinee a lot, and especially adores Taemins music and he looks up to them!

he grew up so much!! he used to be short and really cute during chewing gum but since then he’s grown really tall!

not just physically, he’s grown so much more mentally. as a person he’s more responsible and careful and he’s so kind and loving

he loves playing with children, and he’s so kind and careful when playing with them!!

even when he’s going through a hard time he tries his best to stay the smiley donghyuck we know of!

his talent doesn’t just stop at performing he does his own eye makeup and shines in his own special way

he wants to be a singer-songwriter and I truly believe he his capable of writing beautiful and amazing music !!

he’s improved so much since the start! he keeps practicing and learning more day by day

he’s so so so caring, when Jisung couldn’t dribble the ball, he kept causing disturbances so that he could redo it!!

whenever hyuck wears SnapBacks and you can see his cute forehead it just makes me want to give him a thousand tinie kisses

when he gave jeno a kiss on the cheek during the shooting of ‘go’ and just bolted away and how the dreamies remembered it as a memory from shooting the MV

when he harmonizes with Jaehyun and both of their voices sound like angels singing together

on his phone cover he has stickers of all the 127 members from the chain album :(( how … cute

his verses in heartbreaker and angel are the reason why I still breathe they make me feel all giddy inside his voice is so so nice?!

his high note in ‘go’ is single handedly the best thing ever (renjun singing that part is second)

whenever they do yaja time, hyuck is either the one having the most fun or suffering the most

when he’s with 127 doing yaja time, he really doesn’t hold back but then karma gets it when jisung picks on him when he’s with the dreamies

when he was directing the boy video for mark and chenle and he kept asking them to change the ‘mood’ of the shoot after every few seconds making everyone laugh

when he held that same eye batting cute smile through most of the live (´｡• ω •｡`)

the fact that he makes up different handshakes with each member and showed them to us too!

behind video for joy and hyuck kept pretending to be lifted up by the helium balloon in the background

Johnny’s love for hyuck and hyucks love johnny, we don’t talk enough about this, they’re both just adorable and so precious

he’s actually so thoughtful, he bought a radio just because Johnny and Jaehyun host a radio show to show how much he loves and supports them

kept dancing to other groups choreos instead of their own when dreamies were doing the let’s dance and mark got so frustrated

NCT 127 on Ah!Nimdle where he kept rushing to the front to answer questions about the members by “giving up on looking handsome” (we’d all do it for food thanks)

his commentary on the soccer vlive he did with Jisung and Jungwoo and Yuta! (sm he’s so talented look)

he cuddles people in his sleep which is why he wanted to room with Jeno because he’s comfortable with him but when Jeno exposed hyuck he got so so so so so shy owo

In general he’s such an amazingly talented and wonderful person. He deserves so much more love and I just wish he’d get the appreciation he deserves because even through all the hardships he manages to stay the fullsun we all know and love.

hi ! i’m bee and im dumb obsessed with a lot of shit tbh. i just saw IT chapter two and have not shut up about it so i apologize now for me saying how much i love richie tozier and exclusively calling pennywise penny wide bc rip to georgie but im different but anyways pls take rosie she’s my go to gal and i have Changed her a lot through her time so like if things arent consistent,,, its bc IM DUMB !!! but anyways like to this plot ok love u all

plain and simple, she’s stupid as hell. in high school she was book smart enough to be a B student but like street smarts wise? stupid ! it’s not even a cute kind of stupid because it gets her into some wack circumstances. she has definitely gotten into a stranger’s car because they said they were her uber when she doesn’t even remember ordering an uber

she struggles to express herself a lot. she has such a good heart and soul but her go to coping mechanism was always to just be cold and act like she didn’t care when she has always had so many feelings. she just doesn’t know how to act on them in the slightest.

so so so headstrong. once she has an idea in her head, she won’t rest until she sees it through.

stubborn as hell !!!!!! it definitely comes from her not fully knowing how to express herself but she doesn’t want anyone else telling her what to do. probably because she can’t even tell herself what to do.

she cannot be bored. she’s constantly doing things to keep herself busy whether that be pretending she can bake or pretending she can knit, she’s constantly doing something.

genuinely so into fitness??? in high school she was a varsity volleyball player and was voted one of top ten young best female athletes in california. she always thought she would go onto being an olympic volleyball player but obviously that didn’t happen.

she has the Too Much gene. she doesn’t know when to stop. ever. and unless someone makes her stop, she won’t.

she loved growing up as the only girl in the family. also loved having a twin because she loved flexing on people in school.

she was definitely one of those people in high school who could talk to anyone and be friends with them. granted, she probably was cliquey as hell but like ! it’s the thought that counts.

at one point was engaged and pregnant. she is now neither pregnant or engaged :-)

she also definitely ruined someones marriage while on a vacation but im thinking abt making that a wc so we gonna not go too in depth

i genuinely cannot think of anything else and i’ve had a very Chaotic day so im gonna redo this in the morning and im gonna make a proper wc page in the morning too but for the time beings

a rebound from after she called off her engagement could be Fun

i really want her to have a girl squad she gets wine drunk with

idk why but i want someone she just absolutely hates and cannot stand bc im a messy hoe

I don’t think so :( not many people use the palette but I use the WMS eyebrows and then someone recolored the CC eyebrows I use in the WMS palette too. Links are on my resource page (which i know is broken rn but links still work)

Should I tell my insurance company I race?

I am 17 years old and currently have a regular drivers license, with no class M designation. I have been riding dirtbikes since I turned 4, and have been racing them for the past 3 years. I think telling this to my insurance company would do one of two things (if it does anything at all haha). Either they will think, oh this kid knows what he's doing, let's cut him a break and lower his rates or they will think oh this kid races, he will probably carry those habits to the road, thereby endangering himself and others. Which do you think they will do? Also, I AM planning on getting my motorcycle license when I turn 18. I probably wont use it for everyday use, since I have a dirtbike meant for off road use, but there are some races where you are required to have a street legal bike, and that means it has to be registered and insured. Since im not gonna be using it much, I don't want to have to pay more for the tiny 250 cc dirtbike than I do for my truck with a v8, that can easily double the speed and endangerment to others of my dirtbike. All in all, im just wondering how the insurance company would react to me dropping that information on them. And for those of you who find it interesting, I also have a boaters education certificate (complete bullshit, but required for legal use) and a private pilots license. The vehicle in front of me merge to left as if he was waiting for someone to come outside. He didn't have no signal light or hazards lights on. So I merge to the right pass him so the guy must didn't see me so he hit my right front end bumper, headlight, and door. So I didn't have my insurance in the car so I got a ticket and the other guy had a ticket because he didn't have insurance. On the police report it said he had a left sgnal light to turn in is driveway. Just to remind you that the vehicle doesn't belong to the driver and he had a NY license. My insurance liability told that he couldn't contact the other guy to see if he had insurance and send him letters. So he told he's going to put it's not at fault but I have to pay for a $500 deductible. But WHY?????? if he didn't look at the cars but he's going to basis on paper work. Insurance is escaping to cover what need to be maybe replaced( wood entrance door through septic water was running , built in castum made cabinets in master beedroom, cut wall and replaced behind showertubs........) 9 days after that accident we finaly has Insurance attention and the send SERPRO here. Servpro find that water was SEPTIC, Walls need to be Cut ( so far 1 foot from the ground ). When Servpro cut draywalls ut shows that stabs 2x4 has been damaged , they spray them ( we think that they need to replace them )......... We are now in almost two months after accident becouse we do not agree on damages sattlemant. They serve us on 08.01.2012 with activating adjusster process and we do not have money any more to pay for that, OUR HOUSE DURING PAST 4 YEARS BECOUSE OF ALL THIS LOST LOT ON VALUE AND WE WOULD LIKE TO SUE INSURANCE COMPANIES AS WELL AS TWO LANDERS WHO WERE IGNORING PROBLEM IN THE HOUSE.
