The Errant Priestess: Tav'Lyn Faen Tlabbar

I was inspired by @jbnonsensework post about their OC Gwenifar here and this post to put together some companion content for my Tav since I'm sitting here with nothing to do at work.

Act 1 - Part 1:

Upon saving Counsellor Florrick, Tav’Lyn will want to speak to you. She will tell you that the daytime assault on Waukeen’s Rest is unheard of for Drow, who despise sunlight. She explains that Drow raiding parties only plan their raids during the darkest nights when the moon is covered. If you ask her if she is speaking from personal experience, she will deflect and steer the conversation back to Duke Ravengard. You can ask her why the Drow would take Duke Ravengard; to which she will respond that the Matriarchs would have no interest in a human, male like Ravengard. She will assert this is the Absolute’s doing.

Speaking to Minthara will trigger Tav’Lyn’s personal quest to advance. If you are not playing a female Drow and Tav’Lyn is in the party when speaking to Minthara, Minthara will demand to know why she is following your lead. If you don’t intervene, Tav’Lyn will effortlessly lie that is not her place to question the Absolute’s will.

At the next long rest, after speaking to Minthara, Tav will tell you that is disturbing to see a Baenre serving the Absolute. She will also admit it’s a shame to see a powerful woman like Minthara being relegated to herding goblins. After some pressing (and high enough approval), she will confess that she is originally from a noble house of Menzobarranzen and has only been on the surface for 4 years. She confides to you that she was sent to the Church of Eilistraee as a spy. She has recently decided to stay on the surface and now is working as a double agent. You can thank her for being open with you or express distrust. She will assure you that she is no threat to the party, and jokes she won’t slit your throat while you sleep unless you really annoy her.

Raid the Grove/Save the Grove:

Tav’Lyn will approve if you decide to save the Tielfings and the Druid’s Grove. While she will initially disapprove if you tell Minthara the location of the grove, betraying Minthara at the gate confrontation will net you high approval points.

If you decide to raid the Grove, she will express uncertainty about your decision. You can pass a persuasion check, suggesting it is better to place your bets with the cult, who objectively know about the tadpoles versus the Druid Halsin. You can also intimidate her, telling her she has no chance fighting against the globin horde with a group of untrained tieflings.

Tiefling Party:

If you saved the Grove, Tav’Lyn will be in high spirits at the party. She will proclaim that it has been nearly half a century since her last goblin massacre and she’s forgotten how fun it can be. If you betrayed Minthara, she will commend your cunning and boast about humbling a Baenre. She will also have a more somber moment where she reflects that in her past life, it would have been her instead of Minthara on the other side of the battlefield and that you did a good thing protecting the refugees.

If you have high enough approval, she will ask you if you’d like to spend the night with her. If you reject her she takes it well and if you aren’t spending the night with Astarion or Lae’Zel she will spend the night with one of them.

Goblin Party:

At the Goblin party, Tav’Lyn will be more arrogant and aloof in her interactions with you. She will matter-of-factly compliment the player on their deception with Zevlor and the efficiency of the slaughter. You can ask her why she isn’t mingling at the party, to which she will respond in disdain that she is above associating with goblin filth.

Tav’Lyn will be much more forward in asking you to spend the night with her. If you reject her for Astarion or Lae’zel, she will try to sway you, tempting you with the known fantasy & reputation of Drow women. If you reject her for Minthara, she will become outright hostile and mockingly tell you to enjoy yourself and that she hopes you don’t end up with a knife in your back. She will not spend the night with any other companions.

4. What does your Muse feel is their most attractive feature?

Oh I was hoping I wouldn't get this one for her. She's got a mediocre opinion of her appearance, thinking she's okay looking but not anything to stop traffic, you know? Go ask Gale his opinion no wait he wouldn't shut up if you did. She has a bit of a cinched waist, really good to grab and pull her close. And she does appreciate it when she's wearing clothing that accentuates that so we'll go with that.

9. What’s one thing that never fails to turn your Muse on?

She's still learning, honestly, as she's more in line with demisexual so it takes a bit. But probably sincere, sweet words of love in a warm, heated voice with some gentle adoring kisses would be a good start.

10. How easy is it for your Muse to talk about sex?

On a technical standpoint or when it's not involving her too much, pretty easy to be honest. She's done healing at Sharess's Caress, she's not a naive child, after all. But when it's focused on her, she'll be a little flustered, unless she's talking to her partner about possible ideas to try together, then she'll be fine.

15. How does your Muse feel about dirty talk in bed?

hmmm...Depends? If it's discussing what the partner is going to do to her in a heated manner, dirty praise, that kind of stuff, yes. But any kind of degradation dirty talk wouldn't be for her.

24. How high is your Muse’s sex drive on average?

Not that high, on average in her life considering she's not really engaged with anyone prior to the game time frame. But it depends on her partner and fluctuating hormones like we all deal with. But with a partner she has that connection with and the correct stimulation, I could say her drive could easily go up.

29. What is one sexual fantasy your Muse has that has yet to be properly fulfilled?

Leave her alone it's a heated make out session against a bookshelf that eventually falls into passionate, mutually servicing oral sex that eventually ends on a couch or something. Does she have other ideas? Yes. Of course. But there's something stimulating about the simple ones.

Baldur's Gate 3 Character Development Questions

18: What would your Tav be doing if they weren't kidnapped on the Nautiloid?

28: Is your character the de facto leader of the party? Or do they consider someone else to be the leader?

18. If Talilah hadn't been kidnapped, she would still be stealing and playing a distraction for the nobleman who has her mother imprisoned. She was playing the long game to make sure he wouldn't kill her for stealing from him, planning out how she'd handle it and make a clean getaway. He also viewed her as sort of a novelty, since her sun elf genes are strong and sun elves tend not to be too common in Faerun, being an isolationist group. She hated it and couldn't wait to find a way to save her mom and make him pay. 28. While she didn't expect it, she has a natural take charge attitude and a pretty good head for planning things out, most of the time. And if the plan doesn't work, she's good at improvising too. So she's found herself being the de factor leader of the party, even though that's a questionable job to have most days.

18. Considering Gwenifar was investigating a Loviatar cult in Baldur's Gate, and Loviatar is a minor goddess married to Bane, there's little chance she wouldn't have been taken but she would still be doing her work at Baldur's Gate, helping those in need and trying to help ease the pain. Maybe giving people hell for not helping the refugees more, including the fact the city was closed to them she would hate Gortash. 28. Talilah's the leader, but Gwenifar is more than happy to give her advice if she needs a level head to talk to. Sometimes Gwenifar will step up and lead if Talilah isn't available to for whatever reason.

18. He's a Durge. We all know what would happen if he hadn't been on the nautiloid. He'd either be dead or Orin would have failed and he would have used her body as an example to anyone else who tried to question him and the Absolute plan might have actually succeeded. 28. He'll take the lead if he has to, but he doesn't want to. He much prefers to let Talilah handle it.

Baldur's Gate 3 Character Development Questions

30: What's your favorite thing about your Tav?

Talilah Bluethorn - I love how she's so strongly independent and free spirited. She doesn't let people disrespect her but isn't outright cruel. She has her opinions and speaks her mind and won't back down from a challenge presented to her. She's 136, she's got a lot of years left as a high elf, and she intends to live them to the fullest.

Gwenifar van Hol - She's very nurturing by nature, and it's nice to have that soft feeling when playing. She wants to see the best in people, it drives her to try to do that, but she's not a naïve fool either. She won't be tricked into a false idea of someone being able to be good and will stand up to someone to protect someone else, even at the cost of herself.

Tavinkas - Tavinkas has the struggle of expectations vs what he wants to be. And that's something anyone can sink their teeth into (except his expectations are, you know, being a serial killer). He's got that internal struggle against that and his innate desire for softness, quietness, peace. He's still figuring out who he is after having to bury it for so long, but he's more than ready to fight for his soul.
