A sugestão de se separarem parecia ter preocupado Wor, já que o mesmo começou a dar diversas sugestões para permanecerem juntos, como chamar Deuses, chamar mais criaturas para se juntar a eles, localizar o livro... tudo evitar a separação. Abaixou a cabeça com sua cabeça escondendo sua face com a última constatação do dragão, já que o bruxo era um pé no saco com os outros e provavelmente devia mais favores do quê podia pedir. Em sua defesa, ele se esforçava para tentar atingir o objetivo, mesmo que isso exigisse humilhar para os outros. Olhou de canto para Krystal com o cenho franzido com comentário em relação ao amigo, bem, Worshin sempre chamava atenção primeiro por onde passava, não podia reclamar muito da desfeita já que naquela situação ele parecia um idoso e não estava tão bonito quanto costumava ser. Soltou o ar pelo nariz e concordou em seguir caminho até a casa de Clover.

                         Tendo Krystal auxiliada por Worshin, foi ajudado por Nirvana durante o percurso; tentava não colocar tanto peso em cima da fada usando a força máxima que podia em suas pernas, não queria parecer fraco mesmo em seus últimos dias. Notava que a fada de olhava de canto, nos primeiros segundos tentou se convencer que ela apenas estava encantada com seu belo cabelo grisalho, mas aos poucos ficou incomodado e assim retribuiu aos olhares desconfiados, volta e meia imaginando que a qualquer momento a fada podia empurrar ele no chão.                          Durante uma breve parada que fizeram graças a Krystal, Wor sugeriu que ligasse para Daiyu. Guiren não tinha certeza se ela o atenderia, mas aceitou. Não custaria nada. Guiren pegou o celular no bolso, demorando para desbloqueá-lo; nesta fração de segundos Krystal começou a ter um ataque, fazendo o bruxo arregalar os olhos e olhar para os lados agitado. Nirvana a ajudou, e Guiren se manteve quieto imaginando que seria o próximo. Krystal assim que se recuperou deu a localização próxima de Clover, assim como parte de seu poder que estava localizado na Livraria Mágica. Guiren não sabia se encorajava a invasão à livraria da irmã, porém seria muito importante bisbilhotar ela, já que lá Daiyu guardava muita coisa importante lá. Guiren ainda estava em estado de choque quando os outros dois foram procurar o livro, enquanto os bruxos permaneceram ali. O rapaz novamente pegou seu celular, comprimindo os olhos para enxergar os códigos da tela de bloqueio. Sem sucesso, usou a função de ligação de emergência, pedindo ajuda para Krystal com os nomes salvos.———— Oi. Eu... certo, me convenceram a te ligar. Eu sei que você e Josephine estão inflexíveis, mas... descobrimos que a culpada é a Clover, estamos próximos à casa dela.———— Guiren sentia que seu corpo a cada segundo perdia mais um pouco de força, juntamente com as dores que apareciam. Se esforçava para segurar o telefone,  enquanto a respiração também fraquejava.———— Talvez a gente não consiga sem vocês. How exactly do consorts and concubines get the "names"? In Legend of Ruyi, we hear names like Xian, Yu, Jia, Shu, etc. Do these names have any specific meaning?

The names like Xian, Jia, Shu etc. are granted titles or fenghao 封号 given to consorts. Usually only those with the ranks of pin and up will have granted titles, because only ranks of pin and up 1) have formal ceremony (册封) to canonise their title and 2) only pin and up would be entitled to wear court attire and attend formal rites and ceremonies. 

Of course in dramas you will see concubines lower than the rank of pin have fenghao and it’s either just not explained (Yuyan as Jia Guiren) or passed off in the drama as at the discretion of the emperor (Zhen Huan as Wan Changzai). 

Anyway, fenghao are likely chosen by the Ministry of Rites 礼部. The meaning of each fenghao can have pretty broad interpretations because of the way Chinese works, one character’s will have a general meaning but the specific can change depending on when you pair that character with another, but generally characters used as fenghao would all carry auspicious meanings or highlight the virtues of consort. 

娴 xian - elegant. I’m reading way too much into this, but in the context of Legend of Ruyi, I wonder if there is also some subtle messaging considering part of the title contains the character 闲 which means idle, leisurely, unoccupied, which is basically the life that Ruyi wishes she has, for every to just leave her the hell alone and she’ll leave them alone, but never could have. Also another person who wishes for this and can’t have it is Fan Xian, whose name is actually is xian 闲. 

愉 yú - pleasant, pleased, delighted. Hailan was granted this title when she gave birth to Yongqi and Qianlong explained it was because she had pleased him by having a son. Not to be confused with 豫 yù which is Eyinzhu’s title which also means happy. 

慧 hui - intelligent. The Empress Dowager had a whole spiel about how this title for Xiyue is ironic because she really is…not. Which could just be Qianlong going I wish she would be more intelligent.

令 ling - The Chinese Wikipedia says that this title derives from the Manchurian word mergen which means intelligent and wise, so clearly Qing dynasty fenghao also take into consideration the Manchurian equivalent/meanings of the words. 

嘉 jia - blessing/praise; 純 chun - pure; 舒 shu - comfortable, leisurely

An aside re fenghao in Legend of Zhen Huan

It’s always so funny to me that when An Lingrong was made a consort, the officials initially prepared as one of the choices for her fenghao the character 丽 (meaning beautiful) and Yongzheng vetoed it because it the character 丽 is part of some saying that extols the harmony between husband and wife, and Lingrong can’t bear this title because she’s not his wife, and this is the reason Zhen Huan suggested modifying the title to 鹂, a type of bird, probably knowing that Lingrong would hate it.

Anyway, other concubines of lower ranks would be called by title of address 称号 chenghao, which are usually a character from their surname, their father’s name or their own name. Hai Guiren comes from Hailan’s name, An Lingrong was called An Daying/Changzai/Guiren/Pin for a long time from her surname.

Xiwangmu, the Queen Mother of the West, is a major figure that frequently appears in Taoist narratives due to her status as the one governing all the Xian women. In contrast, Dongwanggong, the King Father of the East, exists only as her mirror image, barely gets mentioned anywhere, and while he gets the equivalent status of governor of the male Xians, there are a handful of male Xians blatantly above him in the hierarchy. Also, archeological evidence of Xiwangmu's worship is quite a few centuries older than his, so it's pretty well accepted that he was created just to be her counterpart.

Shennong is one of the three divine sovereigns of China. A man with the head of a bull and a great elemental affinity for fire. He was crowned the god of agriculture for teaching humans how to grow crops, weave clothes, and practice commerce. He also earned his status as the god of medicine by testing hundreds of herbs and sorting which were toxic and which were healing. I guess Prometheus is a good comparison point for him, as they share the fire imagery and the history as a granter of knowledge. FGO has him as one of the two gods incorporated into Xu Fu's Saint Graph.

Behind me, the Queen Mother of the West, Xiwangmu

The aforementioned boss of the Xian women. She's originally described in the Classic of Seas and Mountains as a woman with a human face, tiger teeth, a leopard tail, and unkempt hair, but later texts beautify her. She's also responsible for the peaches of immortality and famously offered one to Emperor Wu. She's the goddess of criminal punishment, associated mainly with the five more cruel sentences (marking criminals with tattoos, scraping off noses, cutting off feet, castration, and execution).

Lending her Flag of Clouds to Guang Cheng Zi in the Investiture (and being regularly mentioned as Princess Longji's mother).

Nuwa is the world creator, who also created mankind in a collaborative project with her husband Fuxi. She has a major part in the Investiture, as you mentioned. After having the honor of seeing her, Emperor Zhou of Shang got too excited and wrote an erotic poem on her temple's walls. Very offended by this, she dispatched our lovely trio of Daji, Hu Ximei, and Wang Guiren to cause the downfall of his empire. However, Daji proved herself to be a callous overachiever and a bad influence on her two companions, so Nuwa sided against her own subordinates in the war.

However, her main myth is about how the primordial gods of fire and water picked up a fight with her and the battle resulted in a hole in Heaven, causing the water of the Milky Way to leak downward, almost causing humanity's extinction. Nuwa used all of her power to patch the hole with colorful rocks and to recover from that, she took a nap she still hasn't woken up from.

Yu Huang Taidi, the Jade Emperor, is the emperor of the celestial realm. Officially he is the direct assistant of Yuanshi Tianzun, and that makes him the most important Chinese god as far as mankind is concerned because the Three Pure Ones above him don't concern themselves with the affairs of either the human or the regular Xian worlds.

This week I'm trying to finish playing the Asian part of my town, or at least the Laos and the Siews who are related to my main families. The Laos are first and guess what ROS they got... Men are just cursed in this part of my town and they keep leaving their wives.

Almost all the dads in my Sim Asia are abandoning their families to join the monastery. It might not make a lot of sense, but that's some good drama for me, so I'm allowing it to happen...

Hisashi and Satet just got married, but they have been together since their adolescence, and they have a toddler and a baby on the way. If Satet died, Magu (Hisashi's sister) would have to take care of the baby and the toddler. They would both be brought up by their extremely young aunt who is just turning into a teenager this round.

I might have to play the monastery at some point, to make sure the original monks get to die peacefully and Hisashi can take over as the new head monk.

Hisashi has left his family before, so I can understand he would feel the monastery is his real home. Maybe he really doesn't like living in the same house as his younger sister. They aren't enemies, but they were both interested in taking over the business. Hisashi might have just given up on running the business in general.

Guiren became a child on the same day her aunt Magu aged up. But there was no need to worry, because Satet survived her last birth. She gave birth to a healthy baby girl, so the Lao family name won't survive the 'test of time' either, unfortunately.

The little girl has dark blue eyes like her older sister and black hair like her aunt. Her name is Bazi. Baby Bazi aged up at the very end of the round. She immediately knew she was into Fitness, just like her older sister. She's a Sagittarius: 3 Sloppy (her dad is 4 Sloppy), 8 Outgoing, max Active (1 more active than mom/sister), max Playful, and 3 Grouchy (just like mom and sister).

Magu's aspiration was randomized to be Popularity, like her mother's (and her brother's aspiration is Fortune, like their dad's). I personally like the idea of children having the same dreams, especially if their parents never achieved much in their lifetimes.

Magu's possible romantic prospects, Tasuku and Sangen, are also Popularity sims, so it's getting a bit samey this generation in my Sim Asia. We will see next round whom she likes more. So far she has only met Sangen and she has got 2 bolts of chemistry with him.

For the anon that submitted a request for queer headcanons, I headcanon Oryou as transfem non-binary, though she doesn't use the labels or even understands what those labels are. She is just Oryou, after all. However, she bristles when people refer to her old identity/dead name (hinted slightly in GG6, but unconfirmed, to be Hiruko, the abandoned son of Izanagi and Izanami from Japanese mythology). For a scenario, perhaps someone from the Japanese pantheon is summoned to Chaldea (if there is not someone already there) and recognizes Oryou as Hiruko.

What were the harem rankings in the Northern Wei dynasty?

At first, there was officially only an empress and one rank of concubine, all with the title of furen (夫人). However, both Consort Liu and Consort Du are recorded as having titles that weren't 夫人. I assume that as the mother of the heir they were given special titles by Tuoba Gui/Tuoba Si.

However, Tuoba Dao expanded the system. He added the titles of Left and Right zhaoyi (左昭仪 and 右昭仪), guiren (贵人), jiaofang (椒房) and zhongshi (中式). As well, he increased the number of women in the imperial harem in general.

Yuan Hong would again change the system. He kept the left and right zhaoyi, but under them were three furens, and two ranks of pin (嫔); the upper rank having three women and the lower rank six, and under them an unknown or unlimited number of shifu (世妇) and yunǚ (御女). The empress would manage the affairs of these concubines.

Podia notar a marra desta enquanto os observava; Worshin, por sua vez, parecia preocupado com a condição dos bruxos. Compreensível, a velhice não combinava com eles. Guiren sentiu uma pontada nas costas, que o fez mover o quadril para a frente em um susto discreto, pousando a mão na região logo em seguida.  Cento e dezoito anos nunca tive nenhum problema... Pensou emburrado, forçando um pouco os olhos para tentar ver melhor já que pareciam estar perdendo um pouco da sua visão.                           Pediu licença antes de subir nas costas de Worshin, se perguntando onde deveria segurar para não morrer espatifado no chão. Fingiu naturalidade, apoiando suas mãos na superfície e evitou gritar durante o trajeto. Quando chegaram na floresta em terra firme, ficou parado esperando os poderes de Nirvana fazerem algum efeito. Um luz púrpura saía de suas mãos enquanto ela os usava. Guiren podia dizer que estava um pouco mais forte, embora  seu rosto continuasse com a textura de um maracujá velho. Krystal entregou poções úteis do bar de Leah para os dois, enquanto Guiren andava até uma árvore  tentando de alguma forma não convencional tirar a energia dela. The Tale of the Rabbit God

This telling of the myth comes from Zibuyu, or What the Master would not discuss. A translation of old Chinese myths into modern Mandarin, this particular translation was done by Nathaniel Hu, however there are other English translations on the internet.

In the early years of the Qing Dynasty, there was a certain yushi (censor)who had completed the civil examination in his young age. When He made an inspection tour to Fujian, there was a man named Hu Tianbao, who was smitten by his outstanding beauty (this young censor was a pretty boy). Wherever he went out in his sedan chair or in the court, Hu would steal glances on him. The censor felt uneasy, puzzled by Hu's behavior, and his subordinates dared not speak up.

Not long afterward, the censor went to inspect another county, and Hu followed him. Along the way, he secretly hid in toilet to peek at his buttocks. The censor more suspicious than ever summoned him for questioning. At first Hu remained silent, but after three strokes of cane he confessed “The truth is I was taken by his Excellency’s good looking, and could not get you out of my mind. I realize you are heavenly cassia, out of bonds from common birds. But my heart already runs away, so without meaning to, I have behaved so improperly." Hearing this, the censor flew into rage. He immediately ordered his subordinatest o kill him under a dead tree. 

A month later Hu Tianbao's soul appeared in the dream of a man from the same district, to pass his message "Because my mind carried away by improper thoughts, I offended a guiren(a person of high rank), so it was appropriate that I died this way. But truly it was pure act of love, a moment of infatuation and nothing at all like mischievousness. The official of underworld mocked me, but none was blame me. Now the official of underworld was appointed me as the Rabbit God, bestowing me with the duty of supervising matters relating to men who desire other men. Please build a temple for me,and invite the public to offer incense and candles."

There had long been talk of a custom existing in Fujian, where men sought other men to be hisqidi(bond younger brothers). As words from the man's dream spread, everyone rushed to collect donations and erect a temple. The result was positive and immediate. All who desired secret rendezvous or had been frustrated in their pursuit of other man, flocked to offer prayers. 

Cheng Yumen (The author's friend) said "This handsome censor has not read the chapter in Yanzi Chunqiu, where Duke Jing of Qi was advised not to kill his feather man.

Mr. Di Weiren had a different story. It is said that Di was young and handsome when he was a compiler in the Hanlin Academy. There was a young man who stepped forward to be his driver; he was working hardly while declining payment. Di was very pleased with him. Before long, the driver became seriously sick, there was no doctor or medicine could save him. As he was about to die, he called his master and told him "I, your servant will soon die and must tell you something. I am dying because I am smitten by your good looking." Mr Di laughed and touched his shoulder "Silly boy, if that is how you felt, why you didn’t tell it earlier." He arranged a proper funeral for him.
