really nice to get such joy from language learning again after so long :)
watched a video in norwegian and heard genser (jumper) and thought hmm that sounds like geansaidh (jumper in scottish gaelic), turns out both come from english guernsey!
learnt that busy in scottish gaelic is trang which just felt... fitting, and when that happens I'll always look at the etymology to see what's going on there and!! it's from scots thrang from english throng so of course it feels fitting!!

Etymology: Geansaí
The Irish for a jumper is geansaí, which is a loanword from English Guernsey, an island in the English channel. Guernsey jumpers were brought over to the Aran islands in the 1890s, and were adapted by the local women since to use local, thicker wool and their own variations. The Norwegian genser and Scottish Gaelic geansaidh is also borrowed from Guernsey.
Note: ‘Jersey’ is named after Jersey, which is neighbour to the island of Guernsey.

did you make a gauge swatch for your guernsey genser? I can find zero info on what chart to use, might just cast on and hope for the best!
I did not lol I usually do swatch but the size I picked (size 2) was gonna be massive no matter what and I'm a loose knitter. I think my gauge was even on the big side. I think that's the reason I didn't swatch either lol but if you did want to, probably just do a couple rows of moss stitch, the X cables, and then a few more moss stitch rows..
