The Jure Sweater

The True Jure Sweater, a.k.a the one seen at Helsinki 2 is done. I keep thinking it has been, like, a month, and then I check the date for the earliest pic I have, and I realize this took... 1½ weeks, 2 if you include the time it took to figure out construction and squinting at bad pixels and then much better pixels.

So how does one make a Jure sweater?

1. Be absolutely incapable of not wanting to make any given sweater you want.

2. Attend Hki 2. Fall in love with Jure's sweater on fucking sight.

3. Squint at pixels. Despair a little because none of them have the resolution to support zooming in for finer details.

4. Explain my woes to @frikatilhi

5. "Why don't you ask Karlo Kirri for ref pics. Or Dean Grainger! He helped out with the Hojan shirts!"

6. Take several moments.

7. Message Dean.

8-11. Jumpscares supreme with every notification that comes through

12. Pledge knit stuff to Dean, who truly is the gem of this fandom and who provided four excellent ref photos that I could zoom to the point where making out exact stitches was possible.

13. Quickly figure out how to start a crocheted sweater with raglan increases. Bless youtube for filling in knowledge gaps.

14. Decide to do a mockup at first just in case things go south, so cheap cotton yarn it is.

15. Start.

16. Wonder why it's going so well.

17. Buy more yarn. Twice. No, wait, three times?

18. Schrödinger's split sleeves.

20. Done.

So, yeah. I have now ordered more yarn in black and metallic so that I can make another, "proper" version. Will 100% wear this one to work tomorrow though.

Al coming back from his travels: Xing was great! I've learned so much about alkahestry, and I think we're really making progress and getting Jerso and Zampano's bodies back! It was really nice to see Mei, and Ling is doing a great job as emperor, and I even got to visit some of Xing's neighbors to the east!
