A Guide to Red - The Quintessential Taylor Swift Album

After the release of The Manuscript, the role of Red and Red (Taylor’s Version) in Taylor’s life and discography has been highly discussed. A lot of people have referred to it as her magnum opus and most formative album. I have decided to compile a condensed list of about a dozen key interviews, performances, speeches, posts, and videos from 2011 all the way until 2024 that illustrate the importance of this record for Taylor’s personal life and career. I’m putting the list under a cut because it got pretty long. You don’t have to go through all of these, obviously, but I would suggest at least one per era. “Cmon baby, pick up." Harry Styles muttered to himself. Each unanswered ring of the phone frazzled his already fraught nerves. As he resigned himself to being relegated to voicemail the line came alive. 

"Hello.” Her greeting more of a question. 

"Hi, uh, hi um, thanks for answering.” Harry was suddenly at a loss for words. Fumbling and unsure what to say next he blurts, "I just, I won tonight. I won a Grammy."

"I uh, I know. Congratulations. I was watching.” She admitted quietly. 

She knows. She was watching. Harry’s heart nearly leapt from his chest. He pushed down the fear of her rejecting him and boldly decided to say what he was feeling. 

"To celebrate this win without you feels so hollow though.  So much of this is because of you." 

“Harry.’ She said his name like a warning. 

He knew he was pushing his luck. He couldn’t stop now. Harry braved it. 

"You helped more than you know.  You let me adore you," He played on the song he had written for her. The line was silent.  

Her laugh was flat and angry. “Just me? Did you call Colette first or is she next?" 

Harry swallowed hard. He deserved that. "I'm sorry this isn't where I wanted this call to go. I wanted to ask you to come tonight. To celebrate. Be with me.  Just having a little thing. We don't have to have any complicated conversations. Just come and be beside me. Celebrate with me."

Maggie Dunne felt her gut twist into knots. Had she had any significant amount of food in her system she was sure she would vomit. She picked up the phone to congratulate him. This was a big moment in his career. She genuinely cared that he should have a good night. She did not expect an invite out. 

Maggie knew if she wasn’t careful she could be sucked right back into his orbit only to be spit out again.  She surprised even herself when she said, "Text me the details. I'll try. I'm not even dressed."

"Wear whatever you like. It isn't a giant thing. Everyone will be so happy to see you. I could send a car for you." He offered hoping that would guarantee her turning up.

"I can get my own car." Just like that she hung up the phone. She had no idea why the fuck she was considering this. Things between Maggie and Harry hadn’t always been so complicated.

This is just a teaser. I wrote this story ages ago. I started it right after Harry won his first Grammy. I shared a really rough version of it a long time ago on here and it didn't have too many followers. I thought since the place seemed sort of quiet I would give it a rewrite and see if anyone was interested in it. It is more for me than anyone else. Just to prove that I haven't totally let all of my creativity die while I toil away in corporate America. Hope you enjoy it (more to come).

𝜗𝜚. Rosalie always wanted to become a ballet dancer since she was a child, being an idol was a spure of the moment decision when she saw a video of SNSD performing once.

𝜗𝜚. Her aunt is well known in the kpop community seeing as how she owns the company ‘UTOPIA ENTERTAINMENT’ that manages the groups New Jeans, IVE, and ITGIRLZ.

𝜗𝜚. In 2021 Rosalie did resign a contract with Pledis Entertainment for her career with SEVENTEEN but the company has no power over her solo career, her Aunt’s company controls her solo career.

𝜗𝜚. Jihye does not drink alcohol often, whenever she does she basically has to have a babysitter because of everything she gets into.

𝜗𝜚. Rosalie is one of the youngest musicians and first ever female kpop artist to win a Grammy and an Oscar.

𝜗𝜚. Rosalie was invited to headline Coachella 2 years in a row but she declined each time.

𝜗𝜚. She likes to play video games so she can collect all the skins. For example, she’s amazing at playing Fortnite and Call Of Duty but mostly just plays for the skins and weapons. (Of course of her skins are pink)

𝜗𝜚. Rosalie featured on Taylor Swift’s album ‘Midnights’ on the song Snow On The Beach. This caused her to get a lot more recognition and attention towards her group once it released. She was even a surprise guest during the Eras Tour to perform the song on stage with Taylor. Rosie said it was one the most surreal moments of her career.

𝜗𝜚. Rosalie is Korea’s best friend. She earned this title from bringing friends with almost of the idol/acting industry. She loves making new friends and likes to speak to anyone that will listen.

𝜗𝜚. Rosalie likes to speak up often about mental health. In many live videos she’s spoken up about her struggles after her sister’s passing and how she’s been going to therapy since she started training as an idol.

𝜗𝜚. Rosie was a straight a student through her whole career. She carried a 4.0 GPA until she graduated high school and got accepted into a prestigious university where she takes online business classes.

𝜗𝜚. Rosalie broke her hip after falling during a ballet performance. She was lifted into the air by her fellow male dancer and his grip slipped causing her to fall on her left hip. She has a some issues with her hip to this day, swelling and pain.

𝜗𝜚. Rosalie had a slight school girl crush on Joshua when she was younger and just joined the company. She admitted it once in a live with him and it’s been a running joke in the fandom since.

𝜗𝜚. Rosalie wrote her song ‘Good night My Princess’ whilst she was visiting her family. She was having an emotional night and even though she’s an adult she crawled into bed with her parents and they sang a lullaby to calm her down.

𝜗𝜚. Rosie loves sweets. Anything candy she will eat, she has a candy basket in her’s and woozi’s bedroom on her bedside table.

𝜗𝜚. Rosalie wants to be a mom someday but unfortunately she is infertile due to some issues with her developmental when she was a fetus. She plans to adopt in the future.

𝜗𝜚. Rosalie was born prematurely. She was born 2 months early, doctors were worried she wasn’t going to make it but she pulled through after being on oxygen for 3 months. She would go to the doctor every month for a year or so to make sure she was doing okay.

𝜗𝜚. Rosie is engaged to fellow band member Woozi/Jihoon. Wedding plans are still the works.

Reputation - H unseen. Harry was in Tokyo when the last Reputation date was also there. Plays emotional set of surprise songs are wildest dreams (1 of 3 times she played it on the Rep tour) and So it goes (one of 8 times it has ever played live), dancing with our hands tied and I know places. Harry writes little freak in Tokyo and leaked ophelia (I feel ya) that refers to staring at her in Tokyo, watching her move, missing her and fantasising.

HS Live on Tour - T unseen. They were both in Chicago and played shows on 28 June (Taylor) and 30 June (Harry). In Taylors show she told the odd story about being with someone 2 NYE ago and jumping into icy waters which Taylor Nation edited out then later Joe did exposition for that to be about him. Harry's suit for that show was copied in the Me! music video. At Harry's next show (St Paul) is the one with a very well known Medicine performance and he said "running with you" instead of "running with wolves" in MMITH, then he broke up with Camille.

So this tiktok creator was asking why Taylor played 3 track 14s tonight in Zurich and also released 3 versions of Fortnight (which means 14 days). And she doesn’t get why Taylor is obsessed with 3/14. (I didn’t want to share the video link just because it was a simple question).

But the video made me laugh because my brain went directly to 3/14/2021 when Karlie’s dear ole hullabaloo decided to announce the birth of Karlie’s first child on IG literally while Taylor was performing Cardigan August and Willow at the Grammys during Covid. Even though we learned from Karlie later on that the child was actually born 3 days earlier on 3/11…

Louis Tomlinson - For Every Question Why: Live and Direct from Mexico City will air LIVE on Veeps, offering fans around the world exclusive access to the first concert Louis has ever streamed in front of an in-person crowd.

Along with YN's manager, the whole Harry team has been cheering and congratulating him on his big win as they collectively walk over to the couple's green room. Everyone is ready to celebrate with champagne bottles, big hugs, and pictures...well almost everyone.

As everyone gathers around to look at the monumental award and passes around the red envelope with Harry's House on it, Harry walks off in the midst of the rowdy group. YN sees how he walks off to the corner of the room, crouches down, and puts his face in his hands. She gives her husband a sympathetic smile before going over to crouch down in front of him and putting her hands on his knees in comfort. He's immediately putting a hand on top of her black, latex-covered hand, gripping onto it tightly.

When she hears him sniffle, she turns to the small group of people in the room, "Do yeh lads mind giving us a minute?"

As they all begin to shuffle out, Anthony quickly snaps one last picture of the couple. He captures the way they hold each other's hands, foreheads pressed together with their eyes closed. Harry's nose is a light shade of pink and YN wears a soft smile.

Hearing the door click shut, she's suddenly getting a deja vu moment of the last Grammys they attended together in 2021. After YN won Producer of the Year, Harry quickly came into the room after hearing she was having a panic attack. While everyone else in the room left, he stayed by her side and calmed her down with sweet, loving words and comforting hands.

People tend to forget how overwhelming something like this can be. These two don't make music with the intention of winning awards like this; this is just a perk of the job, of doing something they love. So the couple just sits in comfortable silence for another moment longer, looking at each other with so much love and gratitude. Having each other during this monumental time in their lives is a greater blessing than any of them could have ever asked for.

YN reaches up to thumb away at a rouge tear on his cheek and he keeps her hand there, tilting his head to give a kiss on her palm before letting out a deep sigh. She stands up again but before he can ask her where she's going, she comes back over to his level with his Grammy.

They don't say a word as she hands him his award. They just share soft smiles before huffing out a light laugh in disbelief.

After the awards ceremony and the after party was officially over, the couple still had a lot of engery (and alcohol) to burn off. The night was still young and there was no debate on arguing with the Grammy winners when they said they wanted to go get some pizza.

So at 3 o'clock in the morning, both of their managers, their photographers, and the rest of Harry's producers now sit around tables pushed together to create a space to fit all of them as the couple happily chomps away at their cheesy snacks.

"Yeh did really good with your performance, babe," YN compliments around a mouthful of pizza, her eyes the tiniest bit pink from the drinks she had earlier in the night. "Even with the whole turn-table fuck-up. Handled that shit like a fookin' pro."

"Thank you! Y'know," Harry beams, turning in his seat to fully face her. He rests an arm over the booth cushion behind her back and she hums in response, urging him to continue. "Think m'getting to be-" He takes in a deep breath as a tipsy hiccup shakes his upper body. "-be a pretty good dancer."

"I think so, too," She nods excitingly with wide eyes. "S'good thing you had your Satellite Stompers with yeh. It sucks ass when you have to perform in different shoes than what you originally practiced in."

"My what?" He asks with a smirk, stealing a bite of her pizza slice even though there are still plenty of pizzas around the table for him to grab.

"Your Satellite Stompers," She answers with a bashful giggle and his dimples dig further into his cheeks when he sees a blush grace the apples of her cheeks. "Ugh, s'stupid. Nevermind."

"Nuh uh. Tell me," He pokes, getting butterflies in his stomach at the sight of his gorgeous wife smiling up at the ceiling before sighing in defeat.

"S'just that, I posted a video of you doing your stompy stomps during Satellite one show and called your A.D.I.D.A.S. shoes that. And your fans have picked it up so...they're your Satellite Stompers. Don't laugh!"

"But that's the cutest thing I've ever heard! Anthony! Can y'get a picture of my--wait what were they called, babe?"

"Shut up!" She says with a laugh, pushing his face away from hers.

"Oh yeah, my Satellite Stompers."

She only laughs harder, her nose scrunching up in the cutest way possible as her husband scoots back into the corner of the booth and clumsily brings his foot up for them to see. While everyone else seems to ignore the giggly couple, Anthony brings his camera to his face to capture the shot.

As Harry points to his shoe, YN puts a hand under his heel as a presentation while she holds a slice of pizza to her mouth with the other.

Hi babes, I wanted to write something in honor of the year one year of Harry’s house and thought interview style would be a fun way to share how Bel and Harry celebrated. Very little Harry and Bel but enough to give you an insight 💜💜💜💜💜

Zane Lowe checks in with Harry on the one year anniversary of Harry’s house. 

Harry is set up on Bel’s laptop for a Zoom call with his good friend Zane Lowe. Jeff had told him he did not need to do anything, but Harry thought about where he was a year ago and where he is now and wanted to share with his fans how this has been a fantastic year. 

While Harry’s team sent out an email thanking everyone for an incredible year, and if you scrolled down below the photo, you would find the link to his interview.

It opens with Harry looking away from the camera with a large dimpled smile. He leans out of the frame and is assumed to receive a kiss from his longtime girlfriend, Y/N Belmonte. 

Harry checks the audio and sees it off as he unmutes and begins to wave his hand in greeting. 

“Good day, Zane. How are you doing?” Harry greets.

“I’m doing well, my friend. Excited to talk with you,” Zane answers genuinely. 

The two start by checking how they’re doing and what they have been up to. Harry shares how it’s been the start of the tour and how excited he is for the last leg of Love on Tour. Zane expresses how he will try to make it out for Wembley. Describing how he can’t wait to be in that vibrant energy. 

“You’re always welcome,” Harry promises. 

Z: We are gathered here today because Harry’s House turned one year old. 

H: The big one. 

Z: This has been an incredible year for you. 

H: *laughs* It’s been unreal. 

Z: Tell me what this album means to you now, a year later. 

H: It means more to me now. This album I had so much fun creating. And when I finally shared it with the fans to see how well received it was, it was only an added blessing. 

Z: That’s beautiful. Now this album went on to have three singles and a sold-out world tour. It was also recognized as Album of the year at the Grammys. 

H: Don’t forget I swept at the Brits this year.

Z: *laughs* That you did. 

H: It was an incredible night. I feel honored that my album was loved by the fans and that I had an amazing fan there to present me with the award. It–it was special. A night I will never forget. 

Z: How have you been celebrating today?

H: *looks away from the camera for a second* I went on my morning walk alone, and when I returned, the living room was filled with balloons and streamers. There was a beautifully decorated cake. The album was playing Bel’s favorite song on the record player. Seeing all the trouble she went through for me made me tear up.

B: *whispers* No trouble at all. 

H: *giggles* It shows me how lucky I am to have someone at my side who celebrates all my accomplishments with me. 

Z: It’s magical to have people at your side uplifting every goal and dream you have. Thank you for sharing that. I know we’re limited on time, wanting to respect your time and all, but I have a few final questions. 

H: Of course. 

Z: I know most of the album was written in 2020, but you did say 2021 brought some changes. Don’t think you ever said what it was. Would you care to share? 

H: *blushes* The album started while filming my two movies. I thought going into my 2021 tour, the album was finished, but, uh…someone walked back into my life and changed everything. There are tweaked lyrics. A song or two was removed, and another was added. This album happened because of them, even if she thinks she doesn’t deserve the credit. 

Z: We don’t even have to ask who you’re talking about.

H: No, I guess we don’t. Think I may have slipped earlier.

Z: Either way, I feel they’ll know. 

Z: What do you think is next? What do you see for the future? 

H: I know you mean music wise, but after finishing in July, I’ll enjoy being home and being a son, a friend, and a partner. It might be crazy to say, but she’s all I see when I think of the future. It’s all I want to see. I guess that’s where I am in life. 

Z: Are you happy, Harry?

H: The happiest I’ve ever been. 

The interview blows up, and it’s safe to say it was the best gift Hary could give his fans on the first anniversary of Harry’s house, a peek into the inside of his life.
