Twitter was sent into a frenzy on Sunday, as AlphaTauri driver Yuki Tsunoda sneakily revealed during his post-race interview that his previously-unknown beau was in attendance at the Miami GP!

Tsunoda has been notoriously quiet about his private life, leaving fans stunned at the seemingly out-of-nowhere revelation. The Internet quickly began to scour for the unknown woman online, however with what little information they had, quickly turned up empty. Though, the commotion evidently attracted the attention of the team at AlphaTauri themselves. On Monday, their official Instagram account uploaded a post commemorating the weekend, in which Tsunoda’s girlfriend was also featured.

Eagle-eyed fans may have noted that both Yuki Tsunoda and the AlphaTauri Instagram account were both cheekily interacting with a private account. Soon, rumours were flying that this account was indeed run by Tsunoda’s girlfriend. As seen above, a quick look reveals that numerous Formula 1 drivers including Pierre Gasly, Lando Norris, Daniel Ricciardo, and Tsunoda himself, are following the account.

Some were not so convinced, however. Fans were also quick to question the account’s authenticity, with some expressing doubts on whether the account owner was even the alleged girlfriend herself.  However, these rumours were soon revealed to be true. On Tuesday, the account – which had previously been private with little over 300 followers – mysteriously became public. Fans immediately flocked to the account, taking to Twitter and Instagram to report their findings. With her most recent post being a dedication to her boyfriend and her time “in miamiiiiii with my boyyyyyy”, there is little doubt that the account’s owner – whom we can now confirm is Y/N L/N – is in fact the Japanese driver’s girlfriend!

🦈 Which character is the toughest to write?

Lol, the last time I answered a question like this, I was accused of being racist for saying that Sam Wilson is funny and emotionally stable XD

But as I think about it now, I suppose the real answer is that the toughest characters for me to write are snarky geniuses. The main ones I've had occasion to write would be Sherlock Holmes and Tony Stark. For one thing, they're much more intelligent than I am, so that's hard to write, and also their areas of expertise are very far removed from my own. Then, at least in Tony's case, I always feel the need to reference pop culture in some way - but not the nerdy stuff I would actually know about. Tony's always dropping references to movies I haven't seen or bands I don't listen to or something, so it takes a lot of effort to figure out what to make him say, and both he and Sherlock have this mocking way of talking a lot of the time that doesn't come naturally to me. I don't feel like I've ever really gotten either of their voices quite right.

🌻 How often do you read your own fics?

Less than I used to, I think. These days, I usually only read my own stuff when someone comments, "I love how you did XYZ!" And then I'm like, "Wait, I did XYZ?" and of course I have to go read it to see what they're talking about :P By the way, I'm not counting reading back over earlier portions of whatever WIP I'm in the middle of. That's just part of the writing process.

Final Fantasy X - Someday the Dream Will End My novelization of the game. Please note the date this was published and realize I was sixteen the last time I touched this thing ^^' It is very far beneath my current standards, but it's what got me into writing fanfiction in the first place, and it taught me so much about how stories work, how to write novel-length works, and also a lot of my preferences when it comes to writing and posting fanfic, specifically.

Harry Potter - Change I don't actually like any of my HP fics very much, if I'm being honest. I wrote most of them ages and ages ago, so the writing isn't very good, and I don't think I handled the few good ideas I had with the delicacy they required. So I picked this one because I wrote it much later than all the rest, so it's at least fairly competent. It's just a little exploration of a headcanon about how the broken Hogwarts House system could be tweaked to not be quite so divisive and counter-productive.

Full Metal Alchemist - The Ultimate Sacrifice Oh my gosh, I've written so many FMA fics over the years, it's almost impossible to pick x.x Some of them are really old and not very well written, some have really good ideas but my skill at the time is holding them back, some are quite good but...are they my favorite? In the end, I decided to go with this oneshot because it was burning a hole in my brain for years before I finally got it written down, and I think it still holds up okay seven years later. Basically, it's an AU that explores what it would be like if Ed uses his love for Al as the toll to get Al's body back. Super angsty, lots of tears, it's great! :D

ICO - Piaculum My novelization of the game, written after the official one was published in Japan but a good three years before it was ever translated to English, so that's how I justified writing it ^^' I didn't really know what I was doing. Parts of it are still kind of good, and I like how I dealt with certain themes and drew in connections to Shadow of the Colossus. But yeah, if you want a book that contains the story of my favorite game of all time, just go read Castle in the Mist by Miyuki Miyabe instead.

Legend of Zelda - One Hundred Beats A 100 Themes fic centered around the friendship of Link and Navi. I wrote this whole thing during one of the busiest and most exhausting periods of my life, and I'll always be impressed by past-me for doing that. I also really like some of the stories I came up with for it, especially all the AUs. Most importantly of all, brainstorming one chapter led me to the headcanon that healed the pain of what they did (or didn't do) with Navi in the canon, and for that I will always love this fic.

Sherlock - Memento Mori One of my kidlock oneshots, an AU where John and Sherlock met as kids. This one deals with the death of Sherlock's dog Redbeard (needless to say, it's quite different from the canon). Personally, I think this is the best one of my kidlock fics.

Captain America - Make Me Whole Obviously! This is the fic that took over my life and changed me irrevocably. For the first time ever, after so many years of writing just to get the ideas out and because no one else was doing it, this time I had a story where, even if ten other people came out of the woodwork with the exact same concept who were much better writers than me, I wanted to be the one to write it. I really got the sense that God wanted me to write this story, and I've seen the fruit of that over and over again. And, of course, without this fic I wouldn't be writing the mammoth WIP I'm working on now.

🚦What sort of endings do you prefer to write: ambiguous, bad, happily ever after, etc.?

You know, I've always said that bittersweet endings are my favorite. Endings like LotR, where the good guys win and evil is defeated, but not without great cost. But as I think through some of the endings I've been most satisfied about in my own writing, I think I need to fine-tune that. I think my favorite kind of ending is a particular brand of bittersweet, where it's not exactly "the Shire has been saved, but not for me." It's more like "we've been hurt, and we're not okay yet, but I think we will be." To me, that's the most realistic kind of ending you can get, because that's the way our lives are. (Not that I don't appreciate a good, completely happy ending where everybody lives happily ever after!)

You're getting a snippet from All the King's Horses (I know probably not the one people want lol) but I am SO EXCITED about it and I also just realized today is Wednesday not Thursday which means I have to wait even longer to share it so I am sad. George cleared his throat. “Matthew and I are going to head out,” he said, trying and failing to sound nonchalant.  Gabi looked up sharply, “Matty’s coming?” She asked, a smile playing on the corners of her mouth and George flushed. Polly had no doubt filled her in on their Cold War. “Yeah,” said George, “we’re still good to meet you at Jalapeño’s?”  “Yep,” said Gabi, “just waiting on Polly to finish giving meds.” “Cool, I think Ross and Waughty will be there first, they said they would get a table,” George said, hooking his backpack over his shoulder. “We’ll see you soon?”  “Sounds good,” said Gabi, flashing George a thumbs up with a glint in her eye. Matthew was standing by the entrance to the barn when George returned, wearing a pair of wayfarer style sunglasses and a well worn Kentucky Horse Park baseball cap tugged down over his curls. George swallowed a pang of disappointment, even sweaty and squished from wearing a helmet all day, George liked Matthew’s curls.  “Ready?” George asked and Matthew nodded, following him to the parking lot and climbing into the passenger seat of George’s truck.  George looked away as he did so, not wanting to get caught checking out his ass, admiring the way his navy blue breeches pulled tight as he hoisted himself into George’s lifted vehicle, the hop jump he had to do to get in only highlighting how small he was. George quickly banished the thought of how that meant Matthew would fit perfectly, tucked against his side.

Too many 💀 Officially in progress being actively update (at least in The 1975 fandom I'm pretending the other fandoms don't exist at the moment) I have five: All the King's Horses Make Way for Ducklings You Know Where the City Is It's Christmas (So This Is Gonna Be a Nightmare) On a Friday In terms of ones that exist and are actively being worked on but aren't ready to be posted / haven't been posted yet I a have five more: Tennessee Stella McCartney (the Nashville™️ fic) Now Is the Hour (The teen dad fictional!matty fic) Vampire AU (we're still working on a name) The End of SATVB Sick Fic One shot (name also TBD) That super secret fourth thing that I keep joking about So apparently all in all that's TEN WIPS and i did not realize it was that many and now I'm stressed... (Less work has gone into them - but I also have the infection verse fics where Baby Gatty gets together and Fictional!Matty is readjusting to the public eye after the chapter eight events of the A&E fic but I'm not emotionally ready to admit that I have 12 WIPs lol)

Are you surprised about any of these lists?

I'm always surprised by time can break your heart's popularity, lmao, because for a long time, I even completely forgot I wrote it 🤣🤣🙈 And it was cobbled together in like one hour on my daily train ride, too!! I was convinced it was crap at the time, but... apparently not, lol! Also, I suppose it's Dousy, which was SUPER popular mid-season 7. And as for the rest of my most popular things, well... I'm just flattered :D

Regarding the less popular stuff, well, I've only written oneshots, and often for rarer pairings, too, so I was never expecting HUGE amounts of kudos. Staticquake, Mackelena and Dekesy, for example, while I like all three of those ships very much, they're not the huuuuge ones in the fandom, so, RIP. 🥺 I adore and appreciate all my regular readers much more than words can say, though 🥰💜💜

What’s a favorite fic you published this year?

arghhhhhsgkldjgksaskldjfks I agree with Kat, asking me to choose one favourite fic is like asking me to pick my favourite child! But in the end, I think I'll have to call a tie between ever after, which is the single fic that I'm proudest of, and a VERY emotional post-finale Daisy character study; and you could call me babe for the weekend, which was a gargantuan labour of love in the form of a 19k Spideychelle fake dating AU.

How do you feel like you’ve improved as a writer this year?

Well, since this is my first year of actually writing fic, there's not much I can say here... I have become a lot more confident with what I put out there as compared to when I posted my first fics, though, so that's a good thing! :D

What is something new you did writing-wise in the past year? (new fandom, pairing, setting, genre, collab, etc)

Lolll, well, technically, everything?? I'm seriously someone who thought I'd NEVER write anything creatively again after passing my English A Level, so just the fact that I posted any fic is new to me.

A little more seriously, though, I'd say... polyships? They're something I wasn't against, per se, but would also never read or write personally. Until I met @bobbimorseisbisexual and their writing, though!! My entire stance has changed thanks to Al, and I now greatly enjoy both reading and writing polyship content.

In that vein, I like to think I've become a lot more accepting with what I'll read and write, ship-wise? I used to only write a very narrow few ships that I enjoy, and not broaden out at all - but through the course of this year, as I met more and more incredible writers and friends, with an equally incredible spectrum of likes, I gradually started reading for more and more ships, including some I'd never think of myself. Now, I'm proud to say that you can persuade me to read almost anything if it's well-written and the story shows me a way for the characters to fit together (with the exceptions being abusive/non-consensual, pedophilic or otherwise morally wrong things, but that, I do believe, is just general decency.) The same goes for me and writing, nowadays - if you ask nicely enough, I'll do pretty much anything. And honestly, I'm proud of me for that.

What is something writing-related you would like to try in the future? (check back at the end of the year and see if you did it!)

Oh, gosh, I'd LOVE to do a collab someday! I think it's SUCH a cool and unique challenge to write something with someone else, and I'd very much like to try it out one day. My wife has promised me we can try one someday, though with both our jobs, no idea when it'll ever actually happen... it's definitely on the wishlist, though!!

But it's not necessarily just with Kat, I'd be thrilled to do a collab with pretty much anyone, from any of my fandoms. Ahhh, I just think it's such an awesome goal, and it's definitely one of mine for 2021!

I get that honestly - however I realise here on tumblr there are a portion of readers who are not happy when I explore? Like i mentioned yesterday that I was interested in exploring a more darker writing AU cause of an official art I saw, and I thought “Maybe putting them into a Mafia!AU would be cool.” Cause the in the Mafia!AU world, you gotta think really deep and dark for certain parts, and it interests me a lot. But then some random anon decided to say that I am sick and I need help - and it’s the few reasons why I wonder why I share the things I write lol. If I can’t write the things I am interested in, and people are going to go out of their way to try and like, make a huge deal out of it, I just rather not sometimes lol. A1. When did you start reading fanfiction?

Oh my gosh I can’t remember that far back! I honestly can’t remember how I even found out about it and got started? I’m going to guess 2005 ish but this could really be off. I remember I was fairly young though and setting my ratings on FF.net to ‘T’ only to avoid all the ‘lemons’ which are now my fave thing, HAHA

A8. What was your first fandom? Are you still in that fandom now?

Harry Potter! The only fandom I participate in these days is GoT and the only thing I care about is Gendrya, I have a one-track mind

A9. Who was your first ship?

Oh gosh again with my terrible memory... I remember reading James/Lily fics in the early days! I was also a huge fan of The O.C. and a diehard Seth/Summer supporter

B5. Which story have you read more than any other? How many times?

It has to go to love, war and a few things in between by @scrubclubwrites

I think I have read it 4 times since it’s been complete? But this doesn’t count when it was a WIP and I kept re-reading the posted chapters as I desperately awaited updates :)

B10. What is the best plot twist you’ve ever seen?

For a couple reasons I would say this goes to The Beauty in the Deadly Things by @jenevajensen!

Hopefully this doesn’t count as spoiling the story, LOL but having Gendry’s ‘3′ result in illegitimate children is something that I didn’t ever consider and haven’t seen anyone else explore. It took me by surprise but also ended up being so much better than I ever would have expected and I’m so happy I read it!

C3. Is there anything that makes you nope out of a story? What is it?

I think I am a bit of a picky bitch when it comes to fics, oops! I could go on and on but I will try to refrain LOL

My number one problem is that I am all about the slow burn. I have the hardest time staying invested once the relationship becomes established. (Established relationship fics therefore are all pretty much a no for me, hahaha)

I struggle with poor grammar/spelling as well. I know all fic writers are doing it in their own time and for fun, but having lots of errors really distracts me and I can’t properly enjoy the story.

I also can’t deal when it’s all too soft? Does that make sense? If it reads like it would make a nice Hallmark movie I just can’t do it (I think I’m not very ‘romantic’ so these stories seem unrealistic even though it could very well be how other people are. It just doesn’t resonate with me) 

(Also if I feel the characterization is really off -

I’ll stop now because this list is getting way too long, I’m so sorry)

C4. What thing that fandom loves do you actually kind of hate? Why?

This is officially the hardest question, I’ve answered all of the others and I’ve been stuck on this one for so long hahaha! I don’t hate much, I am pretty easy going honestly

Okay I can only think of one thing, I have to go with having characters be sexually inexperienced but immediately perfect and amazing and completely confident? I think the idea of them not having many (or any) previous sexual encounters is very sweet and it CAN work but it has to be done a certain way (in my opinion of course ;) )

C5. What character that fandom loves are you just kinda “meh” about? Why?

Okay this is hard. I feel like I love all the characters other than the clearly deplorable ones. 

Maybe Robb? Lol

(I do love Robb. But sometimes I completely forget about him, so I’ll have to pick him for this. Poor guy.)

C6. Is there anything in canon that made you want to quit the show? What was it? Why did you hate it?

Well the whole ending of GoT but unfortunately it was the END so there wasn’t really an opportunity for me to quit the show, hahahahahahahahahaha.

I am all about the romance, so I was very disappointed in the lack of LOVE at the end of the show. I just felt like they spent seasons building up relationships (or bringing them back for the final season like they did with Gendrya) only to dash them all apart and I felt like it was a giant waste of my time and all of my emotional investment LOL 

I hate any ending that made me feel like I wasted my time or makes me go ‘what was the POINT of all of this then’? And that pretty much sums up 8.03-8.06

D8. Which fandoms do you read fic for?

GENDRYA I care about nothing else

D10. What is one story idea you really want to read but no one has written yet?

Oh gosh hmm. I love all ‘fairytale’ AUs, and I feel like we could use some more. 

Suggestion:

Sleeping Beauty AU where Gendry is our Sleeping Beauty. He grows up in the woods in secret as his family attempts to keep him safe, and by chance one day he meets fierce Princess Arya who is out adventuring. They fall in love (not in one day, let’s have them meet in secret who knows how many times), but unfortunately she is betrothed (to him - but she doesn’t know that). She tells her family she won’t marry any stupid prince, she loves the boy from the woods. Unfortunately Gendry is captured and put under a deep spell and Arya finds out his true identity and she has to go save him 

This whole premise just makes me laugh and puts a smile on my face

Yes! Steven rilling Andrew up is an daily thing tbh. I loved your observations on the last 3eps of worth it. The sounds they made in the savory pie ep were WILD, get a room (with only one bed lol, classic theme that i enjoy even if it's cliche❤️). Btw do you know this fic called sweet stuff? I rec it, Steven + dress is *chef kiss*. Also off topic i love those AU in which Andrew is a history teacher and Steven is an engineer and both are basically nerd af but in the cutest way possible

Steven, no matter how innocent, is just too naive at times to resist! He does things that are so innocent, and tbh, it sometimes flies by me as well, but Andrew always always notices so tbh, sometimes Steven doesn't even have to try and rile Andrew up lmao bitch gets riled up on his own

And Worth it’s last three ep’s? We all can just clearly see the heart eyes Steven and Andrew give each other. IT’S THAT STRONG. QUARANTINE CAN’T CONTAIN THEM lmao Also, I remember that part with Steven talking about soulmates and such, him calling him and Andrew soulmates and that’s just *sighs dreamily* they truly do love each other that much (PS: I keep forgetting to gif that part, I’ve been so busy recently lol)

AND YES YES, I KNOW THAT FANFIC IT IS FUCKING AMAZING UGHHHHHH  ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ It’s one of the few fics I always re-read (most of the fics I reread are either smut or age-regression tbh) Steven is a dress iss sooooo good, especially when he’s in his cute pastel fluffy element. That fanfic was an amazing mixture of fluffy and smutty and goddddd, the author really delivered to us! THEY MADE A MASTERPIECE *chef kiss as well*

Okay, so let’s start it off like this:

Shane and Andrew work at the same university, they’re both history teachers so let’s just make this a huge university (idk how it is in America, but my old uni had double professors at times lol). Shane is trying to invite Andrew and Adam to one of their outings because Shane wants his fellow professor to go out and enjoy, he thinks Andrew is too focused on his work needs to loosen up a bit.

Andrew, begrudgingly, finally agrees as long as Adam goes along with him (Adam didn’t need to be persuaded, because he had a very healthy social lifestyle thank you very much). 

They meet at this swanky bar where Shane is off to meet his boyfriend Ryan. Ryan, incidentally, brought along his bestfriend Steven who just RECENTLY CAME OUT AS GAY. Ryan is trying to show his bestfriend a good time and maybe *nudge nudge* set him up with someone cute while he’s at it.

OH OH I WANT A LOVE TRIANGLE BETWEEN ADAM AND ANDREW AND STEVEN.

Adam really, only went along cuz he’s actually been pinning on Andrew for a while now, but Andrew hasn’t really noticed because too busy with work duh.

So the three of them meet at the bar and Andrew is actually pretty interested at Steven, he thinks he’s cute, he’s funny, and he has that bubbly personality that draws Andrew in... Too bad he looks like he’s more attracted to Adam though.

Adam flirts a little with Steven and they get along swimmingly well and it only adds to Andrew’s sour mood because hey he’s supposed to be having a good time, but the only guy he’s interested in doesn’t seem to notice him that much

So, the night ends, Adam gets Steven’s number and Andrew is just pissed off

Days pass, Steven and Andrew meet by accident!

Well, not entirely, because Shane actually invited Steven over to his class because he wanted Steven to demonstrate the history of chemicals when it came to the revolution of man and who better to explain chemistry than a chemist himself! 

So, Steven asks Andrew if he could help him find Shane because he got lost since the university is big and Andrew, seriously, Steven is cute and Andrew is a decent guy so he helps Steven out and they get to talking and one thing led to another, they’re getting coffee after work hours! Andrew is really not trying to get his hopes up, this is just a simple coffee, Steven just wants to take a break and all that.

So they get coffee, they talk alot, Steven is a big nerd with history as well and Andrew is all the more intrigued with him. Steven explains more the history of chemicals and such, and he’s so passionate and knowledgeable in his field that Andrew just can’t help but listen to him babble on and on about it. 

Then, Steven stops, looks at Andrew shyly and says “Sorry, I sometimes get carried away, hope I’m not boring you.” 

And Andrew’s all like shaking his head and saying “No, I love listening to you talk.” And Steven gets all blushy and happy and woah, Andrew loves seeing that.

By the end of their coffee “date”, Steven ends up inviting Andrew to a  convention. And to both of their surprises, it’s a CAT CONVENTION THAT THEY BOTH PLANNED ON ATTENDING. They both end up showing pictures of their cats, Steven with Simba and Andrew with Riceball and Wellington.

So Andrew is just really charmed, he really likes Steven and he can’t wait for their next ehem, “date”. He’s so excited he tells his bestfriend Adam about it.

Adam, although he did like Steven, has been pinning for Andrew for a long time now. So on the day of the cat convention, both Steven and Andrew meet Adam there as a surprise, Adam ambushed them lmaooo

Adam makes up some bullshit excuse about coming here because he was in the neighborhood and he thought he’d drop by, Andrew is suspicious because why would Adam suddenly come here? What is his ulterior motive here?

So the three of them hang out and Steven is a bit flustered because he likes BOTH Andrew and Adam and this is a bit awkward and there’s some tension here and there so yeah

So the convention ends and they all bid their goodbye’s, and Steven is a tiny bit upset because he wanted to really hang out with Andrew but, he was feeling shy around Adam. Yet at the same time, Adam didn’t really even call him back after that night at the bar.

So lo and behold! Andrew suddenly texts Steven on his way home, he wanted to know if Steven wants to hang out again and this time, maybe just the two of them? Andrew isn’t going to drop the date word yet, he wants to say it face to face cuz he’s that type of guy and Steven happily agrees!

SOOOO THEY GO ON “DATES” , Andrew hasn’t really dropped the date word yet, but Steven is always taking him on so many different places and good restaurants to eat at and the more Andrew spends time with Steven, the more he actually think that he may be falling in love and fuckkkk

So, let’s develop Steven and Adam’s relationship this time.

Steven gathers up his courage and contacts Adam, he was planning on just telling Adam that it was nice to see him again after the cat convention. Adam decides to entertain Steven for now and they talk through text and woah, they actually really have a lot in common as well!

Steven is into photography and good books, they also have the same music tastes so they exchange and give recommendations to each other a lot. Steven told Adam that it’s okay if they’re just friends and he just wanted to hang out with him. Adam sees that there’s nothing wrong with giving the guy a chance so they go on book “dates”  together and go to music stores and laugh a lot and watch shitty movies together to make fun of and oh

oh no, Adam is actually genuinely starting to like Steven and fuck, this was not how he was intending for this to go but like, Steven is really great and he loves his smile, his laugh, and he is such a smart and talented person and fuckkk Adam got so whipped over Steven that he doesn’t even know why he didn’t bother to call Steven again after that night at the bar!

Meanwhile, Steven is having a crises! Oh no!

He likes both Adam and Andrew and they’re both bestfriends and fuckk!! Okay, he thinks that maybe they’re both just really nice and they aren’t really interested in him but, Steven really likes both of them and gosh, this is not how he wanted things to go down in his life right now

I’m thinking Andrew would make he first more here, like he would officially ask Steven out and Steven would be really ecstatic because like YES!! He does really like Andrew and gosh, he is so so happy to be dating him and they’re both having a great time together and Shane and Ryan keep teasing them and well...

Everything is great, but they both notice that Adam has become really distant and quiet recently. He’s been cancelling on hanging out and he doesn’t really talk to them that much anymore and Andrew is more concerned because Adam is best friend and he’s never seen Adam be like that, not since, he ehem got his heart broken so Andrew wants to make his friend happy again

Steven comes along to help out and they annoy Adam almost every day until Adam SNAPS and he gets pissed at both of them and then all confessions break out that Adam is actually really REALLY happy for them but at the same time he’s really not?! Because he likes both Andrew and Steven, and he’s really been pinning over Andrew for the longest time now and now that he’s seeing both Steven and Andrew together, two guys he really likes, he’s just really sad and jealous and he walks out and Andrew and Steven are stunned.

The boyfriends do a sleepover at Andrew’s place and they talk about it and Andrew realizes that oh fuck he really likes Adam as well and wow, Steven also really likes Adam and he was having a crisis before because he wanted to both date Andrew and Adam and damnnnn

So the ending is basically Steven and Andrew woo-ing Adam to become their boyfriend and it becomes a happy OT3 Stadamdrew  ❤️ The End  ❤️

Good Things in 2019

@theputterer and @the-strongest-stars tagged me in the awesome annual end-of-year Good Things meme! I’ve done this in 2018 & 2017 and always think it’s a fun exercise of both reflection and looking forward.

Oh boy, though, my first thought was, what even happened in 2019? (Looking at a calendar helped! It reminded me of a few things I forgot)

It’s been a Rough Year, friends. Between OCD and basically travelling almost every weekend in the latter half of 2019, I am very much ready for a new year and hopefully a new slate.

But this is about the positives!

Personal

Played a lot of Dungeons and Dragons! I am now officially in two campaigns. This year, I endeavored to recruit more women to play, including the wonderful @allatariel. I play both my beloved cleric, Maritsa (who I’ve been playing her years now) and my new character, Noara, a ranger elf with a red panda familiar (yeah, my DM let me do that for funsies, so I could get an animal sidekick but also still try out the Horizon Walker subclass). 

Speaking of red pandas, I accomplished my LIFE GOAL of meeting a red panda face-to-face. I got to feed Harriet at the Cincinnati Zoo for 30 minutes. She was adorable. 

Completed all my dental work and had a clean bill of dental health two cleanings in a row! 

Attended DC’s Around the World Embassy Day event, always fun

Attended Star Wars night at a local library, where I got to participate in a short demo/lesson on how to fence with a lightsaber!

Attended 50th Anniversary Celebration of Apollo 11 / landing on the moon (dude they projected the rocket on the Washington Monument and it looked so cool)

Returned to the NY Ren Faire and upgraded my ren faire garb

Celebrated at THREE friends’ weddings and got to catch up with old friends I hadn’t seen in awhile

Ate ice cream at the Ben & Jerry’s Factory in Vermont

Went to NYCC for the third year in a row. Got to wear 2 costumes this year: a 1920s flapper interpretation of an occamy and my Endor!Leia costume (repeat of 2017). Learned the True Pain of sewing. Created feather shawl for my occamy costume. Learned the True Pain of crafting.

Celebrated one year anniversary with hubbie down where we got married: visited the museum we got married in and actually got a chance to enjoy the exhibits, went to our favorite brunch place down there, got to check out Fleet Week and tour an aircraft carrier and uh... I think it was a missile cruiser? 

Went up to PSU for a women’s hockey game for sister’s birthday (made embarrassing HAPPY BIRTHDAY sign for the cameras); also it was an absolutely wonderful fall drive on the way up there

Got to see The Rise of Skywalker in IMAX at the Smithsonian Air & Space Center with the awesome @allatariel! (thank goodness we had each other to get through that movie lol) also got to reuse my Endor!Leia costume. I did my own braids for the first time ever! (usually my talented sister does them) They looked like braids done by a n00b, but I didn’t care because they were passable and I did them myself and that was a Big Thing for Perfectionist Me (to not just... say screw it and undo it and just. give up. but to just let them be as is)

Worked hard at therapy and self care

Got a Sleep Number bed and holy shit let me tell you. i can actually sleep now.

OH! I almost forgot!!! Started playing Assassin’s Creed! I’ve only ever really played the LEGO Star Wars and Harry Potter video games so like. This was big for me. 

Writing

Finally finished Learning Curve. TBH I was a bit shocked that this was in fact the only fic I published in 2019. What a travesty.

However! I have been writing

@allatariel & I sat down, overanalyzed You’ve Got Mail, and drafted up the outline for my in-universe AU, something I’ve been dreaming of starting for years. Have about 4300 words so far.

Just under the wire, I did manage to start my NatGeo AU, which I’ve been dreaming of since my honeymoon in Nov 2018

Started editing/revising my original young adult fantasy novel

Poked a little at my epic fantasy pirate travel novel idea

Books

I read exactly one book, Among the Red Stars, which I enjoyed. It’s about women fighter pilots in Russia in WW2. Inspired by real people.

Music

Saw Panic at the Disco! in concert. I went along with my sister. Not like a huge fan, but they put on a pretty fun show!

Saw Waitress on Broadway!! OH MY GOD. And Sara Bareilles was starring in it. Amazing. I freaking love her music (”How does she know / what a heart sounds like?” gahhh). She was so good, and the show was so good. I literally cried all the way through it just because I was so happy to be there, but also because of the content. Man.

Saw Sara Bareilles again, in concert, in Philly. I love her so much.

Television

Finished Critical Role Campaign 1! Oh man, what a ride. Gosh, I love that show. I really need to catch up in C2 now. I’ve started it but I’m only on episode 26 or 27.

I’m not sure whether I finished The Clone Wars in 2018 or 2019. I think it was early 2019. This show was amazing and this was the character development that Anakin Skywalker needed. I love Ahsoka Tano. I cannot wait for the last season.  

Finished Rebels!!! AGAIN, what a ride!!! I still love Ahsoka Tano. I also love Hera Syndulla and Sabine Wren. Sabine’s Darksaber arc was fantastic.

The Mandalorian OMG BABY YODA!!! Yes, I have succumbed to the adorableness of Baby Yoda. Most adorable SW character forever. But also just an enjoyable story in general. This, this is how you craft a story. still NOT over the darksaber omg. 

The Good Place is continuing to be good. Not as crazy about season 4, but I’m so glad they decided to limit the seasons.

Got my sister to watch Rebels!! And then even a few episodes of The Clone Wars!!! Mwahaha >) 

Finally got around to watching The Great British Bake Off, what a sweet show!

OMG I ALMOST FORGOT Anne With an E!!! Gosh what a wonderful wholesome delightful show. No I haven’t watched S3 yet because I am Lawful Good to a fault and just patiently waiting for it to come on Netflix

So, I woefully neglected to mention The Aeronauts in this post about my favorite movies in the 2010s and that was a Mistake. Because I really enjoyed this one

Be more supportive in helping my friend run Book Club so that it can actually meet more regularly HA, oops. Book Club died, but kind of in favor of being able to start a second D&D campaign. At least that’s the trade off I’m looking at. I had some OCD-related glasses issues this year that inhibited reading a lot.

Try to read at least one book for myself outside of Book Club lol WELL the one book I read this year was not part of Book Club sooo

Goals for 2020

Writing

I’m not going to make this a completion goal, but instead...

...I’d like to just focus on creating a regular writing schedule/habit. Whatever the project, I just want to make sure I carve out significant time each week just to write. I don’t want to set a specific goal like “x hours a week” for now, but I want to make sure that I am writing each week.

To achieve that (because what are goals without maps):

If the words don’t immediately jump onto the page, then I’m going to try outlining or summarizing. I’m going to let go of overthinking how sentences are phrased, and just pretend I’m describing the story idea to a friend.

That blank page is staring at me and I’m just going to fill it with words no matter what I might think of them!

And I’m going to let everything else expand from there. And see how that works.

okay, so i did not forget about this! i just didn’t know how to start it and when i did, it kind of just stumped me  on how to write it out. but anyways, this one is a lovely request for the lovely Baekho and i hope this turned out fine! my first ever soulmate and timer AU! sorry if it took a long while to come out as things happened these past few months. also i tried to get it out before 2019 ended, but oh well, it’s here now!!! lol but anyways, yeah happy reading and kthxbai, Admin Lia~

In the world where Miseung lives, there's a particular timer that is sent to you after birth. The timer is engraved with your name, your birthday, the time of your birth, and a spot where there's an image of you that changes as you grow older. No one knows from where or from whom or how it even works, but each person is given one that tells them when they'll meet their five soulmates. It's a pretty big timer as there's a place for each of the soulmates. Those five soulmates are, The Friend, The Changer, The Lover, The Stranger, and The Divine.

Out of the five soulmates, The Divine receives an extra special indication. A tattoo-like image appears on your inner left wrist of roman numerals of the day and time when you locked eyes with each other. That's how you for sure know that you met your other half. So Miseung has already met four of the five and is awaiting the day she'll finally meet her destined soulmate where she'll spend the rest of her life with. The only thing is, she's seen and encountered him already, but she's just never personally have met him face to face just yet.

"Can't you stop sighing over there?" Miseung's best friend, Yeonjin, asked her as the two were chilling in Miseung's room as they had made plans to go out.

Yeonjin is the first soulmate that Miseung had met and Yeonjin turned out to be The Friend and vice versa. The two had met when they were like three years old when Yeonjin's family moved in right next door to Miseung's family. Of course at that time the two girls weren't that fond of one another as they didn't know how to react to the other due to their shy nature. Soon enough after one play date in the late afternoon the two instantly clicked and felt like they've known one another their entire life. They later discovered this moment through their parents a few weeks later when their Soulmate Timer for The Friend revealed an image of the two and the time clock itself stated 00:00 indicating that they had finally met.

"I'm not sighing." Miseung denied although she let out another deep sigh with Yeonjin rolling her eyes.

"Right, sure you weren't. So, are you gonna tell me or do I have to guess it out of you?"

"Um, I'll think about it." Miseung mused as Yeonjin shot her a knowing look.

"Usually that means later, right?"

"Mmhmm."

"Y'know, if you do it later than it becomes never."

"Wow, you really had to bring up that quote on me, didn't you?"

"Of course. Your Stranger Soulmate told you those words and I'm sure it's gonna stick with ya for the rest of your life."

"Yeah, like when I was in the seventh grade."

Miseung's second soulmate, The Stranger, was a little old lady that she happened to meet on the bus one early morning. The granny was a sweet person unlike what she's been used to. A majority of them usually travel in groups and would just spout out stuff from their past and make snarky remarks towards the younger generation. But this lady was traveling alone and kept to herself. Anyways, Miseung was traveling alone without Yeonjin and was going to school for her early lesson block. Miseung's parents decided that they wanted her to focus on school more and had set her up for extra lessons. Miseung wasn't thrilled about it, but what could she do against her parents' decisions. Anywho, Miseung had been looking out the window and unconsciously sighing the whole time.

The bus only had several people riding on it which was unusual, but maybe it was what fated had it for Miseung as the old woman asked what was on Miseung's mind. Miseung was shy at first, but something about the old lady made her calm and relax. The Stranger had a familiarity about her, but Miseung wouldn't know about that until later down the road. Anyways, Miseung voiced out her thoughts of the whole schooling and that her parents have been a bit more strict this time around than before. She admitted that she didn't want the early lessons or have them control her studies and hobbies, but decided to go with it as her parents were her parents. The older woman offered a piece of advice which would stick with Miseung for her whole life after that.

The granny told her that if she continued the way that she was and kept thinking the way that she did, then she would never be able to think for herself. That if she didn't do anything now about it, then all those laters would turn into nevers and that Miseung would miss out on all the chances that she could have taken. At first Miseung was confused and the elderly woman laughed and told Miseung that in due time she'll understand. Miseung never saw the granny again after that and it wasn't until the end of the week that Miseung understood and told her parents she didn't want the extra lesson and to just live life. Surprisingly, they agree and Miseung was relieved and happy for the first time in her life. The image of The Stranger was still etched in Miseung's Soulmate Timer, but the image was hard to make out and was the only picture to be black and white.

"Do it now. Sometimes later becomes never." Miseung stated with a soft smile before sighing as she admitted what was on her mind to her best friend.

"I was just reading Seungcheol's post about his engagement."

"Uh, huh. And why are you reading it?"

"It just popped up and Seungcheol messaged me the other day to invite me."

"So, you're gonna?"

"I dunno yet."

"Can I be your plus one?"

Miseung cast her friend a look.

"What?" Yeonjin asked with a shrug. "I thought I could be your moral support when you see your first love with his fated one."

"Gosh you're annoying."

"Then how about stop making yourself sad by seeing his happiness, Miseung." Yeonjin advised her friend with a roll of her eyes. "It won't speed the process of you finding your special one any quicker or easier."

"I know, but..." Miseung trailed off while letting out another sigh.

Seungcheol was the third soulmate that Miseung had met during her first year of high school although it wouldn't be until after their breakup that the Soulmate Timer would notified her that Seungcheol was The Lover and vice versa. Miseung was actually quite sad to discover that tidbit, but came to terms with knowing that life was like that and she would just have to deal with it. Anyways, she and Seungcheol started out as classmates and didn't really pay much attention to one another until the two were assigned the summer picnic task and had to work together. Seungcheol discovered that Miseung was cool as she could cook very well and she discovered that he couldn't cook that well and couldn't even handle spicy food. It was a very interesting summer picnic that year.

Soon enough the two became close friends despite being in different classrooms and by the end of their second year they started dating once they grew closer by building the relationship between them and were ready to take it to the next step. Those moments were great times and filled with a lot of memories, but then in their third year the love they had for one another seemed to have slowly fade over time. Eventually they just became friends again and stayed on good terms with one another after graduation. Although the image of the two were still etched within Miseung's Soulmate Timer, the image itself was less vibrant and more faded, but the little hearts that glimmered here and there still flashed from time to time.

"I'm not sad. It's just making me want my own true love." Miseung clarified with a roll of her eyes. "I'm happy for Seungcheol and I'm just wishing him all the best."

"Okay okay, but seriously, just don't go into another relationship like you did before our second year of college." Yeonjin reminded her friend as Miseung frowned.

"Oh, c'mon, Taeyong wasn't that bad. Besides, didn't you have a thing for his friend, Yuta or was it Kun."

"It was no one and I don't know who you're talking about." Yeonjin denied before shooting Miseung a steady gaze. "You were the only one that was part of that whole entourage of Taeyong, anyways."

"It wasn't like that. It was just..."

Miseung trailed off not sure how to describe her relationship with her last boyfriend, but Yeonjin had no problems in doing so.

"He was majorly popular by both male and female alike and lived life to the fullest that's for sure."

Yeonjin cast her friend a knowing look after say that.

"Don't deny it."

"I'm not." Miseung replied.

"Look,  Miseung, I'm not saying it was bad, but I am saying that going with the flow that time around was something out of character for you."

"Hey, do it now." Miseung mused. "Sometimes later becomes never."

"Wow. He really changed you for the better, huh?"

"He did."

Taeyong was The Changer and Miseung's fourth soulmate and vice versa. The two had met before the start of their second year of college when Miseung's dog, Kirby, had stolen Taeyong's socks and water bottle while they were at the park. It was a pretty crazy and wild encounter, but something within them clicked and they started seeing each other and hanging out more often since they also attended the same university. It was a whirlwind sort of romance as it wasn't officially stated that they were together, but it was implied among their group of friends and in the eyes of the people. Their relationship was something that Miseung thought she would have never found herself in or be with a person like Taeyong. He wasn't really a social butterfly per se, but he knew a lot of people and was quite well-known.

So basically it meant he was always surrounded by people and if he was invited to things, then that automatically meant Miseung was invited, too. Wherever he went she went, too. Still despite all the parties, the judgmental looks and words from people that wanted to be by Taeyong's side, and all the socializing, Taeyong never pressured her and always made sure if she was up for it. Miseung knew that he had changed her for the better and found a side of her she never knew existed. Still though, Miseung knew that he wasn't for her and he understood that and soon enough they parted ways on good terms. The image of the two was still engraved on the Soulmate Timer, but it appeared more worn out and faded like a forgotten memory.

"But he was a real sweetheart when it was just him and I along when we had our pet dates, too." Miseung reminisced. "Kirby still misses him, but no for real, honestly, if it wasn't for him, then I wouldn't have had that party girl lifestyle phase in my early twenties."

"Yeah, that's true. We're young and need to live a little and have that as part of life for sure. I get you, but still though, don't worry." Yeonjin assured her friend about her continuous love life. "You'll get your actual true love soulmate soon enough. Maybe even before me and then I don't have to hear you rant about it."

Yeonjin laughed at her last words while dodging a pillow that Miseung had thrown at her.

"I do not rant so much about it, okay?"

"Sure you don't. You're so hung up about finding your final soulmate when there's more things to enjoy in life until then."

"Yeah, but still. There's literally a timer that tells me when, but it doesn't make it any less stressful than it already does."

The duo looked over at Miseung's Soulmate Timer as Miseung scowled while speaking again.

"I swear that thing likes messing with me."

"What do you mean?" Yeonjin asked with furrowed eyebrows.

Miseung looked at her friend curiously.

"Does yours also tell you that you've seen them or whatever, but haven't actually met them."

"Yeah, like all the time, but I stop caring since I'm just gonna let it happen when it happens." She regarded her friend a bit. "Why? Yours acting up or what? Because that could be why you're stressing so much."

Miseung shook her head with a roll of her eyes.

"Not even, but if yours is the same, then it's nothing then. I just really hate that I've seen my destined soulmate like several times now, but haven't actually met him yet. Like how long do I gotta wait still?"

"Hopefully not until you're thirty since you wanna start a family by the age of twenty-five." Yeonjin mused.

"Psh, okay." Miseung scoffed. "Which I turned this year in November."

"Yeah, plenty of time. You're still young and can start a family maybe next year or so." Yeonjin dismissed before looking over at her friend. "So are we going or not?"

Miseung shot a pointed look in her friend's direction.

"Bro, I've been waiting on you."

"Oh, my bad. I thought you still had to get ready."

"You're the one that wanted to borrow my clothes."

"Oh, yeah, right." Yeonjin chuckled at the realization. "Let's go then."

Just as the duo left Miseung's room, Miseung's Soulmate Timer shifted it's timer for The Divine. It went from weeks of countdown to just a mere three hours.

"Ugh, can we please get something to drink and eat now?" Yeonjin complained once she and Miseung left the recent visited store.

"Yes, you big baby, we can." Miseung teased as Yeonjin rolled her eyes in good-nature. "You know you're craving for a guava bubble tea and chicken bits as much as I'm craving for a lavender milk tea."

"Actually, I've been into just the basic milk tea, lately."

"Wow, really? And you made fun of me for drinking that."

Miseung shrugged indifferently, but a ghost of a smile was evident upon her face and she bumped her friend with her hip. Yeonjin returned the same gesture as the pair reached their destination. Before either of them could open the door, the door swung opened and smacked Miseung head on as she was about to open the door in the first place. Yeonjin flinched before tending to her friend and helping Miseung stand back onto her feet.

"Are you okay?" The other person asked.

"Not really." Miseung replied while rubbing her sore spot and realized that her friend wasn't the one that had asked her.

Miseung turned towards the stranger and when she locked eyes with the male she and him both let out a hiss of pain. Miseung glanced down at the spot on her left inner wrist as it redden before something in black ink etched itself onto it. There in fresh ink and swollen skin, the date and time indicating that she had finally met her fated one. Miseung slowly gazed up to the stranger to analyzed the person who was her The Divine. The male did the same thing, but a large grin filled up his face.

"Hi." He greeted her and Miseung greeted him back, but with a more shier manner. "Hi, to you, too."

Yeonjin read the atmosphere and pointed towards the cafe that they were about to enter.

"Um, I'm just gonna leave the two of you alone."

She rushed off, but not before giving her friend a look and a reminder.

"Name, phone number, and your first date! Bye."

Yeonjin rushed inside with a laugh as Miseung shook her head while chuckling at her friend's behavior.

"Sorry about her, she's just trying to look out for me and whatever." Miseung apologized although she avoided the male's eyes.

"It's alright." He assured her. "She's right though."

"Right about what?" Miseung questioned while shooting him a curious look.

"I'm Kang Dongho, your The Divine."

"Oh. That. Ah well, I'm Lee Miseung and I'm also your The Divine."

Dongho brought out his phone with a shy manner.

"So, Miseung, may I have your number?"

"Ahh, right, right."

Miseung chuckled nervously as she slowly inputted her number into Dongho's phone. A moment later he did something on his mobile device. Miseung's phone soon dinged signaling a notification. She saved his number afterwards.

"So..." He began and trailed off with Miseung doing the same thing. "So..."

The two nervously giggled not sure how to start the next conversation as many things swirled around their minds and feelings thumped against their chest.

"You look familiar." Dongho started up a conversation as Miseung tilted her head.

"Maybe it's because I'm your true love soulmate?"

"Besides that, you looked like someone I know."

"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?"

"I'm not sure, but do you know a Kim Yoojin?"

Miseung realized what he meant and nodded upon hearing the familiar name.

"Does she go by the nickname, Uee?"

"Yes."

"Then yes I do. She's my cousin."

"So we have seen one another." Dongho said with a slow smile before frowning. "How come we're only meeting each other now?"

"I dunno. Yoojin shows me a lot of photos of people she works and hangs out with, but it's always her and I whenever we hang out. I think I've seen you in some of those photos or those events she takes me, too. Do you go by another name?"

"I do. Baekho."

"Ah, that would explain all the markings on my Soulmate Timer then."

"Well, that doesn't explain mine. Do you also go by another nickname?"

"I do, but Uee calls me completely something else."

"What does she call you?"

Miseung didn't want to tell him, but Dongho made an educated guess.

"Are you the one she refers to as 'Honey Sok?"

Miseung let out a groan to which Dongho figured that it was correct. He changed the topic.

"So, um, about that date," Dongho started to say, but was interrupted by his friend who returned after finding out that Dongho didn't follow him.

"Dongho! C'mon man. We still have practice to get to."

Dongho groaned while shooting Miseung an apologetic look.

"Sorry, I forgot about that, but um, can I call or message you later?"

"Yeah you can, and it's okay. My friend I are having a friends' day, anyways."

Dongho's friend called out for him again making Dongho reluctantly bidding his The Divine a goodbye.

"Okay, I can't keep my friend waiting either. I'll contact you later today."

"Sure. See you again, Dongho." Miseung bid him goodbye with a small smile.

"See you again, too, Miseung." Dongho said with an even wider smile before an annoyed look replace it when his friend called for his attention again.

Miseung chuckled at the situation as Dongho shot her another apologetic look.

"I'll make sure that he's not around either."

Miseung nodded in understanding as Dongho waved a goodbye and met up with his friend. Miseung watched him go before her attention went onto Yeonjin who exited the shop with a few items in hands.

"So, no date right now?" Yeonjin asked although knowing the answer.

"No. He has practice or something like that. His friend wouldn't stop bugging him." Miseung explained while taking the milk tea and chicken bits from her friend.

"I see. Anyways, let's head back to your place. I wanna see the update to your Soulmate Timer and wondered what The Divine spot will look like."

"Oh right, me too."

Miseung also glanced down at her left inner wrist while placing her cold drink against it.

"Maybe an ice pack as well. I know they said it doesn't hurt much and that the swelling goes down after three days, but I would rather it not last that long."

"Yeah, yeah, but at least now you don't have to sigh now that you found your last soulmate."

"True, but it's your turn now."

"I'm not like you, Miseung."

"Not now."

The two giggled as Yeonjin asked Miseung about the whole moment of what she felt and saw when she finally locked eyes with her destined one. Back home in Miseung's room, her Soulmate Timer's spot for The Divine was replaced with an image of Dongho smiling. A heart was drawn around him and rotated in multiple colors like a neon sign. There were also flashes of small sparkles that faded in and out like shining stars. Miseung's Soulmate Timer was complete and turned transparent with only the words, time, and images shown.

It has officially been a year of my making monthly fic lists and I’m so happy I decided to start doing this. I have so much fun sharing what I’ve been reading and how much I’ve enjoyed it. I’m so glad to keep going with it and hope you like it too! This month I continued my catch up on the Tomlinshaw exchange but also started reading a lot of fics I’d been holding out on for awhile. So, without further ado, here are the awesome fics that rocked my world this month!

play the game by @candybarrnerd / icarusinflight This one was sexy and filthy and I just...don’t have much more to say hahahahaha It’s Tomlinshaw and reading it had me pretty much dropped right into Nick’s emotions and I loved it.

Leave Your Mark On Me by @fullonlarrie / FullOnLarrie OMG okay so like. Omega Harry who doesn’t even think he’s interested in alphas quick bonds with Alpha Louis because otherwise he can’t get the job he wants. But there’s a massive twist! And then feelings! And realizations! And pining! And flirting! And it just grows so perfectly and I loved it very much a lot. I can’t even find the right words and I think I finished it a week ago as of writing this little thing but yeah. It’s amazing.

Owner of a Lonely Heart by @shiftylinguini / shiftylinguini It’s a kind of Tomlinshaw rash marriage in vegas kind of fic but also not? There’s so many more feelings to it than something as simple as that. But it’s defo strangers to lovers and honestly the non-cameo Liam makes might very well be my favorite part of it as well as the Neil/Niall fiasco just because it plays out SO PERFECTLY with Nick and Louis. hahahahaha Gosh this fic is hysterical and soft and painful and just so many things. It is a perfect little fic. I love love loved it.

oh, i just want you to come with me by @hiatusniall / weddingbells I’ll be honest hahahaha the bit with the sprinklers had me wanting to cry a little because I was just imagining everything being ruined BUT the bookends were beautiful and the pain and the miscommunication cause, let’s be real, Tomlinshaw would never just have easy and straightforward and good communication. They’d have to fight it out and be stupid boys first, and this really captures that. It was a super fun read, I really enjoyed it!

Come and Get Your Love by @rsadelle / rsadelle A five times Tomlinshaw Fic! Featuring awesome dads Nick and Louis! This was so sweet and soft and cute and there was a twist I wasn’t expecting! And little interludes that just added even more to what was already incredible. It was such a fun read, I adored it.

dead set on a getaway by EmmyLouWho EmmyLouWho strikes again! Seriously, their fics are ALWAYS gold. I don’t know how they do it. This time features Tomlinshaw in a BOOK STORE. OOOOOMMMMGGGGGG!!! And the way it all finally comes together is adorable and perfect. And Gemma is hysterical hehehe Gosh such a fun and fluffy fic.

happiness hits like a train on a track by leighbot New dad Louis meets his neighbors Harry and Liam and Lirry are fucking adorable, okay? And they try to play matchmaker and it all goes horribly wrong and is so funny and yet bad BUT THEN! Nick to the rescue! For real, in the same ways the previous set ups had been all wrong, Nick is so right and I LOVED IT. Also, Louis’ relationship with Penny’s mother is so fucking cute too. I just can’t handle it. I loved this one too.

Say It With Flowers by @reminiscingintherain / reminiscingintherain Back to Larry! For a bit, anyway hahaha Roni took the most hilarious prompt and made Louis so awkward and angry and forthright it was incredible. Meanwhile Harry’s just confused and yet it somehow all comes together and I so so so enjoyed reading this! It was the perfect read after a long day. hehe

The Sleepover by @homosociallyyours / homosociallyyours THIS GIRL DIRECTION FICLET IS THE MOST ADORABLE PERFECTION EVER?! It’s so pure! So soft! So sweet! Gosh I loved it very much a lot.

Merm Louis, a magical curse au, AND a prompt I gave her that essentially takes Rachmaninoff and Stravinsky in Old Hollywood and makes them Harry and Louis. It’s all AMAZING and I LOVE IT.

One Touch Is Never Enough by @fullonlarrie / FullOnLarrie Werewolf Louis goes to get a massage and things do not go as planned. Gosh I was cackling at this so much, it’s so great. A super funny, super ridiculous read haha

London Rain by @writsgrimmyblog / Writcraft Basically canon compliant Tomlinshaw where Louis wants to finally explore possibilities with boys and takes to online dating to try it. Gosh this fic is such a great read. There was a lot of emotion and parts that made me laugh out loud, it was absolutely fab.

Brave Love by @angelichl / angelichl And they were roommates!!! For real, though. They were. And there’s SO MUCH PINING and omgosh it’s so beautiful and soft and sweet and Harry and Louis are just so precious in this, okay? It’s so so so amazing. A great valentine’s day read.

hold on for one more day by @disgruntledkittenface / disgruntledkittenface This fic had me rolling but also so worried and I might have cried just a little bit, but seriously the Tomlinshaw banter was so great and so were the soft feels! The careful watching after each other and there’s a part where Grimmy is just so worried and scared and Louis is so so so soft and sweet and I’ll leave it at that. so good.

time stopped then sped so fast by sarcasticfluentry I went through the Grouis tag on AO3 and found very few fics. I loved them all, and they’re coming now, hahaha This is...basically Greg James/Louis Tomlinson porn lollll most of them are, tbh. It’s got panties though hehehe and if size difference is a kink for you, then this definitely has that for ya. An oldie but a goodie!

Let me be your good night by @conscious--ramblings / Conscious_ramblings I apparently read this ages ago when it first was published and I don’t remember it which seems impossible I don’t know how that happened?!?! This is Harry/Louis, but they go to a swinger party and Greg and Nick get added into the mix. It’s such a great read, though, because Harry and Louis are exclusive and never really considered adding more into their relationship, but this night changes some things and the way Sheena goes through the emotions of it all is so beautiful. And hot. Like damn hot. So. If that’s your jam, I would defo recommend this one.

sugar, butter, flour by EmmyLouWho After two incredibly smutty fics, have an entirely pure and smut free goodie from emmylouwho! hehe It’s a Nailed It AU and is SO GOOD. It’s so funny the way Harry, Zayn, and Niall are all depicted and the way it all plays out had me giggling the entire way through. A super cute, super fun read.

Like An Anthem In My Heart by @goodmorningtoyouuniverse / GMTYUniverse This fic, y’all. I love footie fics, but I’m also super picky about them because I love footie myself. This one was written so so so well in all aspects, but the football aspects had me screaming in excitement in a football chat. It was sooooo good and it involves a forced outing and how it was all handled and it was so believable and beautiful and the emotions and the relationships and the cameos of real players and people had me flipping out in a good way and I just. It was so great. One of my favs of the month, easily.

Taste Too Good by sarcasticfluentry Okay this one is more PWP basically, but it’s kinda...well, it’s Grouis, but it’s also...Tomlinshames. Is that the ship name for Nick/Greg/Louis? It is now. lol Anyway, this fic was a lovely little read and the switching in POV gave you a little insight on everyone’s feelings and thoughts throughout so yeah. haha

'cause i like it dark and low by sarcasticfluentry What can I say? More filthy, filthy Grouis PWP. lollll But it was good! haha

The Post-War BP by @jaerie / jaerie As per usual, Jenna comes in and just takes A/B/O and makes it an entirely different beast. I have no idea how her brain works, but I’d love to see inside it hahaha This is a fic where it kind of holds to the more traditional omegas stay home, have children, etc but in this world an alpha is required to be a part of the relationship in order for an alpha to have a chance at being produced. Add in a war where alphas were shipped off to fight and not many returned, and suddenly a Breeding Plan is introduced. This fic is somewhat dark, quite twisted in parts, and does involve some unsavory content, so please beware of tags. I ADORED it though.

Tell Me Your Secrets by @dimpled-halo / dimpled_halo This was for the Popularry fest, which I’m doing horribly at keeping up with. It was based on the film For a Good Time Call and I’d never heard of that until I read this, but now I wanna watch it! haha Harry and Louis are pseudo enemies to friends to lovers as they move into an apartment together and start a sex line and It’s...amazing. hahaha Such a great fic!

Summary: [Model AU] You become the new model for JYP Industries’ high-end clothing line. There, you meet the mysterious and undeniably sexy Lim Jaebeom.

Word count: 3,096

When you were a child, people always called you “cute” or “pretty girl”. Well, obviously, doesn’t everyone do that with kids?

When you were in high school, a whole lot of girls were prettier than you, but you were still confident and happy in your own skin. Who wouldn’t? You had great friends, supportive family, and decent grades.

In college, you were stellar. You were a member of different clubs and organizations, made amazing friends, got good marks, and even started taking your Instagram seriously. Initially, posting aesthetic photos or yourself in beautiful sceneries or cute OOTDs was just out of fun or to let your creative side out. You never meant to take it way too seriously.

During your final year in college, someone contacted you to do modelling part-time, and you were surprised. You gave in, enjoyed it, and here you are now, doing modelling as a career. You did photoshoots for simpler brands in fashion and makeup, but you were content with that. It all changed when you got a phone call from JYP Industries, saying that they wanted you to be the new model for their high-end fashion line.

“I don’t know if I can do this!” you panic, turning to your best friend, Bambam.

He was a close friend of yours during your earlier modelling days, but eventually, he became a model at JYP much earlier than you did. “Relax, y/n! You’ve got this! You’re a natural after all.” Bambam smiles, “I mean, not as amazing as me, but you’re going to do great.”

You chuckle at your friend’s encouragement, “Only if the one and only Bambam says so.”

“I said so.” Bambam winks, “Go y/n!”

Just then, an assistant calls for you. You follow her to another room where the staff get you into really luxurious-looking clothes and put on some really expensive-looking makeup. You are then ushered to another room where they tell you to wait for a few minutes. You sit on the leather couch, fidgeting non-stop. Somewhere on the other side of the room, a sharp-looking man leans against the wall while scrolling through his phone. His eyes are dark and mysterious; you somehow feel captivated by them. When he makes eye contact with you, your heart starts to jump out of your chest. His gaze lingers on you, expression unreadable. You don’t notice a male approaching you, a carton of chocolate milk in his hand. “Hey! Are you the new girl Jinyoung-hyung was talking about?”

You jolt up and turn to see a young man with a huge smile on his lips. “Yeah, I guess I am.” you smile nervously.

“Nice to meet you! I’m Yugyeom.” Yugyeom offers his hand, “I just started a few months ago.”

“I’m y/n.” you smile more calmly now, “I believe I saw one of your photos in a designer store not too long ago.”

His cheeks turn pink, but before he can say anything else, a princely-looking male puts a hand on his shoulder. “Our stylist noona isn’t going to be happy if you spill your drink all over the suit.”

Yugyeom laughs, “I’m not gonna do that, Jinyoung-hyung!”

Jinyoung sighs as if he’s had enough of the sunshine boy, “Ok, ok, but you need to head to your venue. The photographer is waiting.”

Yugyeom nods before waving goodbye at you. You turn your attention back to the mysterious guy with dark eyes, but he’s already exiting the room. Jinyoung clears his throat to get your attention, “Miss Y/n, I am Jinyoung, one of the head models in JYP, and our boss assigned me to evaluate your performance, per se, today. How you do during today’s mock photoshoot will determine whether JYP will really hire you.”

You nod before standing up to bow, “I’ll do my best.”

You proceed to doing a few poses for Jinyoung as the photographer takes photos. An hour later, Jinyoung reviews your photos, a soft smile on his lips. “Bambam was right. You’re pretty good.”

“Wow, that’s an honor to hear.” you giddily grin, “Especially from someone as popular as you.”

Jinyoung chuckles before softly patting your shoulder, “I think JYP could use a model like you. Let’s hope he agrees.”

A few days later, you receive a call from JYP himself, saying that you are officially a model for JYP Industries. You squeal inside, trying to remain professional outside. But as soon as he hangs up, you gush out and call Bambam who screams with you. He persuades you to go out for a celebratory drink in a nearby bar, and you say yes.

Later that evening, you dress in a simple black mini-dress that hugs your body perfectly, black ankle-strap pumps, simple eye makeup, but bold red lips. He picks you up at your apartment, but you’re surprised to see Yugyeom driving with Bambam at the passenger’s seat, both in expensive suits. “Yugyeom?” you smile.

“Hello, and congrats on officially becoming a model with us!” Yugyeom exclaims.

You get in the car, and as Yugyeom drives away, you ask Bambam, “I’m assuming you brought Yugyeom along to our celebratory drink?”

Bambam smirks, “Not just Yugyeom, but my whole modelling gang.”

“And those are…?” you ask, curiously.

Yugyeom grins, “Our hyungs – Jinyoung, Jaebeom, Mark, Jackson and Youngjae!”

“Oh my gosh, Bambam!” you lightly swat his shoulder, “You know how shy I can get! And these guys are like the pros of modelling! I feel so much pressure right now.”

Bambam laughs, “Isn’t she cute?”

“She is.” Yugyeom nods innocently.

“Relax, y/n.” Bambam smiles at you, “They’d be happy to meet you and get to know you. They’re not as bad as you’re thinking.”

“Just watch out for Jackson-hyung. He’s a hugger.” Yugyeom chuckles.  

You arrive at the venue, and it’s a rather posh-looking bar. You take a deep breath and walk side-by-side with the two males. You are ushered to a private area, where there are already five men sitting at the table. “The lady of the hour has arrived!” Bambam exclaims, and the men clap their hands.

“Congratulations, y/n.” Jinyoung smiles.

“Ah, thank you.” you smile shyly.

“She’s gorgeous, you guys!” a happy male stands up and gestures to you, “You’re beautiful!”

He goes over to you for a hug, “I’m Jackson. Glad to have you with us.”

You chuckle at gently pat his back, “It’s an honor, actually.”

“Easy there, Jackson. You might scare her.” Another male laughs as he makes space beside him. Bambam nudges you to sit there, and you all take your seats.

“I’m Mark.” the male smiles, “You already met Jinyoung, Jackson, Yugyeom and Bambam. That 24/7 laughing guy is Youngjae, and this sexy one is Jaebeom.”

You joyfully smile at Youngjae who gives you a high-five, but that smile threatens to disappear when you turn to this Jaebeom guy – it’s Mr. Dark and Mysterious from the other day. The one you couldn’t rip your eyes away from. “Hi.” is all you say.

And your heart nearly bursts when he flashes the smallest but most charming smile ever. “Congratulations.”

You and Jaebeom stare into each other’s eyes once again, and Jackson nearly makes a whistle sound, but Bambam interrupts anything by declaring, “Now that we know each other, let’s get this party started!”

You and Jaebeom finally look away, and soon enough, Bambam and Jackson are ordering drinks. Within a few hours, Mark is already trying to keep Jackson from completely wilding, Youngjae won’t stop laughing at them, Yugyeom and Bambam are totally killing it on the karaoke machine, and Jinyoung looks like he wants to murder them. You excuse yourself from the room to get some fresh air on the bar’s balcony, but as you stand there to enjoy the chilly breeze, a stranger approaches you. “Hey, gorgeous. You look lonely.”

You turn to see a dashing-looking male, but surely drunk. “Oh no, I’m with friends, it’s ok.” You turn your back on him, attention on the city skyline.

He stands a few inches behind you, hand hovering above your bottom. You tense up as he whispers, “They wouldn’t mind if I borrowed you for a while, would they?”

You clear your throat, “No thank you. Please just go.”

The stranger starts to move closer and caresses your bottom with one hand while the other travels up your waist in an excruciatingly slow pace. “You look delicious tonight. It would be a waste.”

“No! Stop it!” you shout, but the man grips your hips tightly, pulling you against him. His hand leaves your bottom but covers your mouth instead, and the hand on your hips starts to run all over your body. Not too long after, someone yanks the man away from you. You and the stranger turn to see Jaebeom, his sharp eyes enough to scare the stranger away. You look down in shame, “Thank you.”

Jaebeom joins you at the balcony and leans against the railing, “This may be a rich person’s club, but it doesn’t mean there aren’t any sleazy men. Money can’t buy manners.”

You nod and stand beside Jaebeom, still looking at the floor. “Hey,” Jaebeom puts his hand on your shoulder, “you ok?” he asks softly.

You sigh, “Yeah, I’m fine. Just…shaken.”

Jaebeom decides to joke around to lighten the mood, “Couldn’t handle the boys’ craziness?”

“Oh, no it’s not that.” you laugh, “Bambam’s like that all the time. I just wanted to take a breather. Convince myself that this is all real. That I’m really modelling with all of you in such a renowned brand.”

Jaebeom chuckles, smiling with his teeth, “Why do you seem so surprised? Your photos were great.”

A blush creeps up to your cheeks, “I’m not the best, nor am I the prettiest. Like. I’m sure JYP could find others who are better.”

Jaebeom leans in and whispers, oblivious to your pounding heart, “Whatever it is, you’re here. So make it count and make him proud.”

Within the next few days, you’ve had two or three photoshoots with the company. During your free schedules, you hang out with the seven guys you became friends with. Besides Yugyeom and Bambam, Jackson was the easiest to become close to. Mark became an “older brother” kind of friend while Youngjae was like the “younger brother”. Jinyoung was like your mentor – and you ranted or confided in him from time to time. Jaebeom was a bit tight-lipped at first, but there were times you were able to break his “bad boy” act and make him join in the stupid antics.

One day, you were at a vacant room, practicing your poses for a certain photoshoot that you were going to have in a few hours. As you stood there, looking at yourself in the mirror, and voice chuckled, “You know, posing usually comes naturally when it’s actually time to take the photos?”

You turn to see an amused Jaebeom watching you from the doorway. “Well, unlike you, some people are not naturals at modelling.” you smirk playfully.

“Says you.” Jaebeom laughs.

He steps towards you, hands in his pockets. His outfit today is incredibly simple – a plain white shirt that fits his muscular body perfectly, a dark blue jacket, black jeans and black shoes – but he still looks like the sexiest man alive. “What’s the theme? Concept?”

You blush and look away, mumbling a soft, “L-lingerie.”

Jaebeom stops himself from laughing, but his smile says it all. “Don’t laugh!” you squeal, swatting his chest.

“I’m not. It’s just…cute? Funny? That you’re so nervous to do this.” Jaebeom smirks.

You sigh, “I’m not! It’s just that I’ve never really done anything like this. I didn’t even know the clothing line had lingerie.”

“Of course it does. You probably just don’t look at it.” Jaebeom laughs, “Show me.”

You roll your eyes at him and show him the intimate things you’ll be modelling later. It’s not overly revealing lingerie, but you never exposed your skin or areas like that before. Jaebeom gives you back your phone and bluntly says, “What are you worried about? Not being sexist or creepy, but you do have a nice body. You’re the perfect model for this collection.”

You nod, “That’s what Bam said, but I’m just…not used to showing…too much.”

Jaebeom softly smiles, “Jackson usually does the shirtless stuff, so he’d have better advice, but what I can tell you is that you just need to be confident. Don’t overthink, don’t try too hard. Just…be confident in what you can do.”

“Since when did you become this wise?” you tease.

“I am the epitome of sexy.” Jaebeom says rather straight-faced, causing you to laugh.

“Ok, sure you are.” you grin.

Jaebeom smirks before ruffling your hair, “You can do it, y/n. I’m looking forward to it.”

You nod with a big smile on your lips, but as Jaebeom starts to walk out the door, you realize what he just said, “Wait! Lim Jaebeom! What’s that supposed to mean?”

But Jaebeom is already out of the room, a smirk playing on his lips. You huff and cross your arms, struggling to hide the smile breaking out.

Hours later, the staff put on your makeup, fix your hair and get your dressed into the lingerie sets. You feel butterflies in your stomach as the photographer sets up his equipment. After a few shots – some good, some awkward – you change into another outfit, but as you’re posing, Jaebeom walks into the room, watching you from the door. You suddenly feel even more self-conscious and can’t seem to pose properly. The photographer and director seem exasperated and call for a break. You rush to the leather couch in embarrassment, sitting down and burying your head in your hands. Jaebeom quietly sits beside you, but you mumble, “Don’t ask.”

Jaebeom sighs and gets up to speak to one of the coordinators. “Noona, can I speak to y/n for a while? She’ll be back in no time. I’ll just give her some tips.”

The woman thinks for a few seconds before nodding, “Sure, just be back in 30 minutes. The shoot will resume.”

Jaebeom nods and returns to you. He takes your hand and pulls you up on your feet. You stand there, a few inches away from each other, staring in silence. Until, that is, you remember that you’re still in the lingerie from the photoshoot. You instinctively cover yourself with your arms, blushing. Jaebeom helplessly chuckles at you before draping his jacket over you. “Come with me. Let’s talk.”

You follow Jaebeom to the room next door, and there he closes the door. “I can’t do this, Jaebeom. I’m not a lingerie underwear model.”

Jaebeom shrugs, “A model is a model.” he softly smiles before continuing, “JYP thinks you’re the perfect one for this collection.”

“That’s what he thinks.” you sigh, wrapping Jaebeom’s jacket tighter around you.

Jaebeom steps closer to you, and without any warning, he takes the jacket away. “Hey! Jaebeom!” you squeal, feeling exposed and naked without the covering.

Jaebeom throws the jacket to the other side of the room and crosses his arms. He doesn’t look at your body – he looks directly at your face. “You’re too self-conscious, y/n. Don’t think about the people looking at you. Focus on the camera and yourself.”

You notice Jaebeom’s eyes travelling down, and soon enough, his hands are on your shoulders. “Relax your body. You look like a plank of wood, y/n.” he laughs.

“Gee, thanks for the encouragement, hahaha.” you sarcastically laugh back.

Jaebeom imitates your mock laugh before wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you against him. “Jaebeom – wait, what ar – ” you stutter, flustered.

Jaebeom’s eyes are locked on yours, “Focus on me, y/n. My eyes only.”

You stop squirming, your eyes finding his. You take a deep breath, and for what seems to be hours, you and Jaebeom are just gazing at each other’s eyes once again. Your body relaxes in Jaebeom’s arms and he softens his grip. “I still don’t see what your point is.” you whisper.

“Y/n, you’re really something.” Jaebeom rolls his eyes but chuckles nonetheless, “You felt conscious because you think that I could be staring at you in your lingerie, right? But when I told you to focus on just my eyes, you relaxed.”

You nod and Jaebeom continues, “Imagine that my eyes are the camera. Focus on the camera, not on the other eyes that are looking at you.”

You let out a soft giggle before smiling, “Ok, ok. I got it.”

Jaebeom smiles back at you, but both of you have seem to forgotten that you were pressed against each other. “Umm, Jaebeom?” you blush.

Jaebeom realizes and blushes himself before frantically retrieving his jacket and putting it over you once again. He holds your shoulders and smirks, back to his calm demeanor. You look up at him and smile softly, “Thanks, Jaebeom.”

Jaebeom doesn’t say anything, but something in him snaps, and he can’t hold himself back. He slowly leans in closer to you, capturing your lips in his with a slow kiss. You’re initially taken by surprise, but once your brain registers what is happening, you kiss him back softly. His arms snake around your waist while your arms coil around his neck, pulling each other closer than before. The kiss grows deeper, but before you both continue, you pull away, “Is this even ok?”

Jaebeom laughs, “There aren’t any rules about it in the company, so…”

He smirks against your lips and kisses you, “Yes.”

Another kiss. “It.”

And another. “Is.”

You giggle and pull him back for another passionate kiss. His jacket falls from your shoulders as he pushes you back until you come into contact with the wall. You pull away and look at the jacket on the floor by your feet. Jaebeom pushes you against the wall, his hands starting to caress the bare skin on your waist, “Hey babe, focus on me.”

Jaebeom makes use of his tongue to tease you, licking your lips before kissing you again. “Jaebeom…” you moan against his lips, fingers running through his hair as you wrap your legs around his waist. Jaebeom smirks and caresses your thigh before his tongue dances with yours in a heated performance of moans and raspy breaths. Before you both can take it to another level, you both pull away, breathless. “Your stylist is going to murder us if she sees the lingerie ripped off of you.” Jaebeom teases.

“Shut up, Lim.” you smirk.

“Think you can do it now?” Jaebeom asks as you walk back to the set.

You chuckle, “100% confident.”

AMA Transcript: Simple Melody

For our final AMA of Resbang 2017, @alliope, @bbbutterfingers & @daciafu stopped in to answer questions about their Resbang, Simple Melody! Here’s some of what went down:

Q: My first question for Allie is what inspired you to do this AU?

Allie: Well I've generally had the idea for an Over the Garden Wall AU for a while, not necessarily for SE, but as the first check-ins deadline was approaching I ended up rewatching bits of Over the Garden Wall and it just kinda clicked? Mainly I think it came from Crona's betrayal and Beatrice's betrayal and everything fell into place from there. I thought the eerie atmospheres would work well together! So I ended up scrapping my previous idea and wrote 3k plus a summary like three days before the first check-ins, rip.

Q: For butter/dacia, what went into how you decided which scene(s) to art?

butterfingers: HM well there was some chitchat when we started about what kind of work we wanted to do and I said that I loved the Boom comics covers, and then I shouted WHAT IF I MADE  COMIC BOOK COVERS! and I think Dacia went WHAT IF I DID BACKGROUNDS and I guess we just approached it as if we were doing something comic-y haha!

Allie: You two were the power duo.

daciafu: I've always been in love with the style of the backgrounds of OTGW since that's where all those cozy and spooky feelings of fall and the Unknown really shine and I'm honestly HORRIBLE at designing backgrounds so I wanted to take the challenge and push myself to get better! Mimicking other people's styles really helps me break down how they make their choices and teaches me how to make things look Decent so I was super hyped to pick up the OTGW style! And then when Butters and I were trying to figure out What Do and she said she wanted to tackle covers, I decided to do background-heavy scenes. 😊

Q: What is generally your guys’ process (writing for Allie and arting for butters and dacia)?

Allie: Well, I wrote in little scenes, like I would get an idea for a scene and just go for it, the fic wasn't at all coherent until maybe a few days before posting. This actually posed a problem since linking scenes took longer than I thought it would. Because I had most of my scenes written, I thought I had more finished than I really did. By the end of Resbang, I had 56k written but only 20k remotely post-able. I'm a super obsessive planner though, so my whole fic was outlined in detail early on, which was nice cause I knew what I was doing lol

butterfingers: I loved going through Allie's notes, I was always excited to see how they'd connect the dots! My art process is as follows: scribble something, put it aside, look at it a lot throughout the day with the thought that maybe I can surprise myself into seeing something new, find something I hate, fix it, rinse and repeat. For this project I actually... have a friend who works with Boom Comics and she was able to hook me up with a nice little gallery of illustrations for the OTGW comic so I got to go through and put together my mood board for it 😊

daciafu: I read over the gloriousness that was Allie's draft and immediately picked out some neat scenes or wanted to reimagine the classic OTWG ones. I spent a lot of time studying first! Looking at the art books, and poring over the show’s scenes and kind of getting a feel for the color palettes, textures and compositions. Then I watched a tutorial on Youtube where someone just deadass uploaded their painting process on a piece of official art that made it into the show. So that was EXTREMELY helpful to watch the way they painted back-to-front and kind of blended the planes without like, losing depth?? The internet is so, so wonderful. And then I got to work! Started with a soft brush for lineart so it wouldn't be too prevalent, moved onto base colors, then shading, and then really trying to establish textures and make the atmosphere Just Right(tm).

butterfingers: Genius!! Oh damn that sounds like such great advice vis à vis backgrounds. /takes notes

Q: You sound like the dream art partner Allie, I weep for my artists and my last minute HERE IS 10K I JUST TYPED UP BC IM A MESS.

Allie: Ahh geez, these two were the dream partners honestly, like I'm so glad they could gather stuff from my notes, cause I've always got everything together in my head, but then it gets out there and it's a mess, these two deserve all the love.

butterfingers: There was one thing I regret that I didn't have the chance to draw and it was like a throwaway line somewhere in your notes about Maka presenting Soul with a praying mantis and him freaking out. I resonated with that so hard hahaha.

Q: What was the hardest scene for you to write?

Allie: The hardest scene to write that's actually posted was anything with Justin really, I don't get his character and it was tough to write him. There were a few scenes that were hard to write because I rushed them, but I wouldn't say they were genuinely difficult scenes, I just gotta rewrite 'em! But overall the ending scene I'm still struggling to write and there's a dream scene that occurs which has been difficult to write just for making it dream-like enough?

Q: And what was the hardest to art? :o

butterfingers: I had a hard time with Maka's expressions. I had many scribbles designing a Ragnarok lantern, too, but it was very fun!!

Allie: Your design for the Ragnarok lantern was so good, I still cry over it.

butterfingers: Ahaha thank you! He was very Calcifer inspired ;)

daciafu: I struggled quite a bit with the first one I painted, just because it was all so new to me. I had to base color 3 different times because the soft lineart bothered me if something extended too far, or there was white background peeking through. And then reimagining the texture in the leaves and the ground to try to separate the planes there but also wanting them to be cohesive was a bit of a headache. If I had to go back and do that one over again I think I'd be more prepared to deal with the foliage lmao.

butterfingers: Your textures were very excellent, that was a quality I struggled with as well!

daciafu: The first one I painted was the Golden Light scene where Maka and Soul are leaving the woods and entering the fields.

butterfingers: Trees r hard.

Allie: They all came out so incredible though, I'm in awe of how you were able to create those leaves.

daciafu: Omg ;;;;; At the same time trees are so organic and flowy and the chances of getting them wrong are pretty slim considering they can get janked as hell lol they're super fun to just zone out to. "I’ll just put a happy little leaf here, ooh and how’s about another one right next to it. They can be happy friends. Oh look, the squad showed up!!" Channeling my inner Bob Ross... but yeah you can just do whatever with them and they somehow come together.

Q: Daciafu how do u.....background, like you did so well and all I hear from art friends is various levels of pterodactyl screeching when the word background is mentioned.

daciafu: I heavily based the Leafing the Forest scene and the church scene after stills from the show so I don't get composition points there, but I built the pumpkin fields just based off of the environment’s design elements. I really wanted to push the depth of that scene but also give it that same never-ending quality to it, and I'm super happy with the results. Another note is that I omitted the characters entirely while building the backgrounds. Since I'm usually a pretty character-heavy artist, I wanted to tackle it like I was preparing the scene for an animator later. And then once they were done, I added in our sweet kids. Doing it that way first really helped to cement the characters in the space rather than my usual "character is done, how can I put them in an interesting physical space?" struggle lmao.

Q: Did you guys feel like your writing/arting changed at all or that you learned anything/picked up new skills/honed old ones etc. etc. during Resbang?

Allie: Gosh yeah, it changed a lot. In hindsight a bad idea, but this was the first fic I'd ever written with intention of posting and the longest piece I'd ever written. Before this I had written very little and my longest piece was maybe 10k. Throughout Resbang I've learned most of everything from the ground up, it's taught me a lot about my limits, how I work and writing in general. I've definitely improved a lot from the experience!

butterfingers: Let me tell you all about the airbrush tool that I discovered during Resbang. Amazing. Incredible.

daciafu: I learned how to paint backgrounds!!! Which is something I've always wanted to get better at. And I got super comfortable in Clip Studio (I'd just gotten it) as well as using texture brushes, so overall it was a very helpful and wonderful experience as a Resbang participant and as an arteest.

Q: Oh that reminds me butters, what program do you use?

butterfingers: Paint Tool SAI for the most part, and then Photoshop for color correction, borders, and, like, finesse things! :)

Q: Did you guys listen to any music that inspired you or helped you create?

If you want I can explain some bits of it? I use music a lot when writing aha. I like to associate certain songs with characters and character relationships, so most of the songs are connected to a particular part of the story. The Monroe Transfer, Wayfaring Stranger, and Mountains were all more general atmosphere stuff. Blame was very much related to Maka, which may not be apparent now, but yeah. Ragnarok I actually connected a lot with Willow Tree March. Soul was probably closest with A Lady. Crona had a lot of songs, but Neptune was most specific to them, as was probably Ghost Towns. Some character relationships I associated with certain songs, Crona-Ragnarok and Soul-Maka were both pretty connected to Always Gold, especially that dang last line "there were holes in you, the kind that I could not mend" oh man. Crona-Maka was definitely We Could Be Friends, Bloom, and Spell. Meet Me in The Woods I thought was a pretty good group song! Those are just some general bits of my thinking with the music aha.

daciafu: Definitely checked out Allie's dope playlist. For most of my working time, tho, I was either listening to TAZ: Commitment or MBMBaM oddly enough lol. I will forever think of Justin's uproarious laughter whenever I look at them lmao.

Q: Were any of the relationships difficult to characterize?

Allie: Mmm this may sound weird but early Maka-Crona was weird for me, cause they were kinda at that point where they want to (or at least Maka wants to) like each other, but they don’t like or trust each other at all and it's a weird spot for them. I'm used to writing them as at least interested by one another, if not enemies or already fond of one another, so this felt like a very odd place to start with them.

Q: Do you guys have future plans for writing/drawing? Aside from polishing and posting the rest of the fic!

Allie: I have,,, too many plans,, I need less plans,, someone please take them away from me, I can't be trusted with them,,,, I do want to do a sequel for this when I get it finished, playing on the detail about crows memory lasting five years so. Beyond that I have a SoMa fic to finish for the prompt challenge!! I'm working on a gift for Crescentcrona, which is a fantasy Kirona fic called Eat The Rich. I have polyam week fics that I'm cleaning up, I think my favorite so far is a Azusa/Naigus/Sid/Mifune one for Through The Seasons. And God I have so many CroMa fics I want to write, I gotta fill the AO3 tag. I think the biggest one right now is a wings-related soulmates au that I've been working on on the side since October I think?

daciafu: Yo there's one scene that I'm like sUPER hyped to do if Allie does the sequel because I already know exactly how I wanna draw it but I wasn't able to fit that in near the end, and it didn't end up in the first part. But there are a couple of other scenes Allie and I workshopped that would be super fun to do and I would love to draw them. Other than that, my drawing plans are pretty much working on commissions as they come in. Surprisingly my queue has been maxed out and I just got a full time job so of course now I'm like.... hm.... I'll get 'em done eventually!!

Here are some of the extracurriculars uc characters would be in:

Green life (Frats, Sororities):

Sir Mister Person - rushed, failed, and proceeded to try to create his own frat (reflecting arc 1). Ended up joining the most Narc-iest frat by his last semester of senior year (reflecting arc 7).

Sir Upton - Head/President of said Narc-iest frat. Was actually pretty good at leading it until some corruption within leadership happened. (Ahem referencing Warlock stuff with him in arc 8)

Penny Lovejoy - President of a business frat for professional development (this can also be a sorority but never in my life could I imagine her in those hardcore ones that go viral for how intense they are), but never hosts anything casual, only professional parties for networking. A horrible person but gosh a good leader.

Hope Lovejoy - joined a sorority because it was very cheap for her and also, you get friends! She loves friends! (Very oblivious 1st year vibes here) She doesn’t join Penny’s greek life tho bc it didn’t interest her.

Richard and the boys - all in a frat together. Not of any noteable status, but Richard’s probably in a high up position in his frat (VP or something) but doesn’t actually do anything in regards to leadership. They go frat hopping every night and drink until they black out.

Fey Moss - she joins a sorority, but a very normal one not the ones that go insanely viral or whatever the fuck. She loves the Big/Little process of giving out gifts and mentorship. Her presence makes the vibes very untoxic and her parties are fun.

I think there is a frat that has a focus on the sk-warforged, but the joke is that it is essentially dead because none of the warforged have any interest of actually joining said club. I think it’s lead by a couple of dragons that are failing at recruiting any of the sk models.

Political Orgs:

General statement about this - you thought that Penny or Sir Upton would be here because of the politicalness of arc 8, but I posit that 1) Penny is rich she’s joining an org with a fee and 2) Sir Upton got in his frat with connections and was so good in the rush process that he was exempt from paying the fee. Anyways…

Nephila Mori - leads/preident of the org that has some fun name with some pun on “change.” Probably leftist/socialist aligned. Means she’s involved ALL the climate strikes, womens rights protests, etc.

Sybilla Eirik - President of student government and had to pull a few strings to get there. There is rumor around the fact that it’s because one of the administration is related to her (Ahem monarchy). Since the PLW is an old lich and ahem watch arc 8 to see how long Sybilla held her role as king, I’m just going to assume in this college AU she stays as President for much longer. I realize that she probably wasn’t president for her whole college career, but let’s just assume she climbed the ranks and got President her final year. 

Omen Haxolpenny - brief stint in student government and won a position that had no opponents. Doesn’t do shit, but the fact that he has an official position only influences his god complex. When people call him out for not doing shit, he quits and finds some other thing to fill his interests.

Beryl Hatebad - I think this may surprise some people! I’m considering this as a kind of “if” situation. If something angsty akin to arc 6 happened in college, Beryl would try to get into politics to change it (ie Helga Hatebad in arc 8 being on the minor council despite the fact that she never cared for politics? Was beryl’s doing)

Other:

Robyn Lovejoy - she’s in some club that’s like the “Vigilante” club. They commit minor crime around the university and are on the verge of being disbanded.

Lyndell Sterling - I’d like to think Lyndell met Robyn through this club and by the end of their college career (If I were to assume they’re the same age) they’d be co-presidents. Now if Lyndell is ahead by a year or more, Lyndell would pass the President position over to Robyn.

^perhaps all of arc 2 met there too and did something akin to the plot of the arc during their last year together in college.

Russ Tauron - Club Orbula, and he becomes President by the end of it.

Annie Wintersummer - we’ve got an overachiever that is part of every research opportunity she can get her hands on. I’d like to think she was pushed into a leadership position for some competitive <insert stem subject here> club and is good at leading but kinda hates it.

All the artificers (Sasha, Kix, and more to come) - the engineering club that makes the craziest shit to ever be created.

All of arc 6 PCs that got played (Salas included) - they’re the sky pirate club duh. I don’t know what this means for club activities, idk if there are eiridens at all rn, but they’re definitely in a club together.

I wanted to stay off Arc 10 stuff because that stuff still hasn’t been solidified, (A10E2) BUT of course there’s a necromancers guild. Tiffany’s the President, but our PC’s Count Dion, Queen Lumi, and Theodrink are definitely in it. Despite the fact that it’s invitation only, exes Marigold and Bishop sneaked on in. I see potential of this necromancers guild to be a very refined unisex frat.

For those of you that are newer to me & my blog - I’ve had this blog for seven years (!!!), but just began bringing it back a few weeks ago. Since I began posting Tom/Seb fics over the past few weeks, I’ve gained over 700+ of you, breaking me well into the thousand follower mark, and I would like to say THANK YOU!

As a way of thanks, and also for some more inspiration :), I’d like to give back to you guys by posting one fanfiction a day during the week of Christmas. I’m starting this now because I want enough time to both accept requests & also to write!
