So what happened was, I started browsing the Goodwill auction site for a few clothes. A mist descended, and when I came back to myself I was the owner of a 1940s cast iron antique sewing machine.
You know, like you do.
“Hmm,” I thought, “I tried to buy an old machine before and it didn’t work. How will I know if this one needs fixing?” Lo and behold, looking up the make and model dropped me into a DELIGHTFUL world of circa-2011 era blogs with names like “My Sewing Machine Addiction.” They have links to manuals. They have photo tutorials. Some are, and I couldn’t possibly be more delighted about this, still active.
Five hours later, I can now explain with some amount of clarity how a mechanical sewing machine works and name a bunch of the weird little parts. (Turns out “stop motion flanged bushing” is not, in fact, a type of claymation porn. I am mildly disappointed, as I’m sure we all are.)
So yes, having a very neurotypical one over here today. Thanks for asking.
#it's a singer 201-2#i say because someone reading this is going to want to know#also i haven't had this much fun on the internet in YEARS#go find some obscure niche blogs#i can't recommend it enough

Hi caden i always scroll through your blog and whenever i leave i find myself questioning if you are the Scihub wizard. What's your range regulation on your topics of study (as in, how do you seek what catches your interest more thoroughly) and how do you sort out what qualifies articles on such as readable or relevant to engage with? Every time I search up stuff on jstor it just gives me the most stalest stuff ever. If you have any specific websites or tricks to recommend it would mean it all. Thank you
hm well... i guess the short answer would be that i do spend a lot of time reading things that i ultimately decide are stupid or irrelevant or redundant, lol. like, if i'm not actively writing i'm probably researching. so if i post, like, book recs, there's probably at least a few years of reading around and behind that... some of this work will eventually become useful or interesting to me (appendix my advisor made me cut and said was irrelevant in 2020 whose footnotes i raided today) and some of it will probably just live forever in some dusty corner of my mind (zotero folder on phonographic physiology that has only an extremely tangential connection to anything else i literally ever write on).
but in general, my approach is usually to read more, not less—i don't know what connections i might want to make if i never read on those topics, ykwim? i definitely get faster at finding things and sifting through sources the more familiar i am with a topic. but even so, i like to read widely, knowing full well that some (large) percentage of it will be useless to whatever i'm currently working on, lol. there's plenty in my library that i've never cited, or i only quoted a line or two, or i named it only to say it sucks. i think this is all fine and fun honestly. but, a few ways to narrow some of this down:
when you're looking for the seminal literature on a certain topic, you can shortcut some of the searching by picking up anything recent and just picking through the footnotes. (this is called 'snowballing' sometimes.) it's not a comprehensive strategy because you won't find newer or obscure texts—but it's a decent starting point
i work with historical sources, so often the way i find really interesting stuff is by searching the actual names i'm finding in the primary literature. these tend to be figures with a smaller footprint in the secondary literature, who often get overshadowed in more general topic searches, and i often end up reading about all kinds of weird niche topics i didn't even know to look for
some professional societies and journals maintain databases and bibliographies of recent publications; these are worth scanning from time to time. you can often find them by googling, like, "[field] bibliography / database" or sometimes you can find them thru journal websites (but these index more than just the journal's publications). usually free at least to see article titles/abstracts
you can also pick a couple flagship journals in your subtopic and just scan their recent issues from time to time; again article titles are generally free to view. don't rely exclusively on journals, but again, can be a good place to start
dissertations and theses are also good for footnotes, since part of the assignment is usually to show that you're familiar with the recent literature. you don't really want to rely on dissertations for actual citations if you don't have to (the qc is on average even lower than professional publishing... lol) but for reading recs, go for it

[ateez as tinder dudes]
this is a joke, but i’m also convinced that i’m correct, so… there’s that. also, don’t look at me, incorporating a fourth (FOURTH!!!) group on my blog. i don’t want to talk about it 🫣
hongjoong
he’s treating this like a portfolio. he’s got the max number of pics uploaded, and they’re all editorial, like he’s expecting to be scouted. is he repping a brand? is he just flexing that he’s got better style than you ever will? he knows this is tinder, right? no.
absolutely no bio, whatsoever. his age isn’t even listed, somehow. you know nothing about him except that he owns more than one cowboy hat, and honestly? that’s all you need to know.
you’re actually 98.4% sure that he’s a catfish — who just looks like that? — but that’s not going to stop you from swiping right to see if he did, too.
he did not.
seonghwa
he’s intentionally using pics of him with his mother, with kids, with small animals, etc. because he’s calculating. couldn’t be more of a targeted attack if the profile was computer-generated. frankly, you can’t say if it was or wasn’t. suspiciously perfect.
that’s where the tinder prowess stops. he doesn’t know how the swiping feature works so he’s swiped right on everyone. oops.
his bio has subsections — plural — with endearingly dorky interests laid out in full. he’s well-rounded and objectively attractive to literally all people. man is everybody’s type, esp. yours.
tragically, he has never once responded to a message, and he never will.
yunho
he must’ve made this as a joke, right? every picture of him is hilariously unflattering or a recreation of a meme or some childhood photo, except the last one — which is a meme. it’s something obscure that appeals to the sense of humor of exactly .01% of the population. you can tell by looking at him that he is chronically online and had unrestricted internet access as a kid.
his bio is also absurd. this dude has something like “my first words were, ‘this human form is limiting’”, and it’s extremely polarizing. on purpose. puts his whole personality right there, right from the get-go because it will ward the wrong people off and flag down the exact niche he’s targeting.
i feel like he’s either a lukewarm conversationalist that makes you wonder how the rest of his profile was so funny, or the first conversation is an incredible, god-tier bit — and then, when the bit runs its course, you realize that he deleted his profile, never to be seen again.
rip
yeosang
all of his pictures paint an image of someone hard and edgy, and you’ve got it all wrong. you’ve been fully bamboozled, bestie. that is a whole ass fairy princess.
always messages first and/or responds immediately, revealing that he’s the most “uwu” person of all time. seriously, what the fuck? people unironically use “hehehe”? in this day and age? ^_^
unexpected gem. the person he actually is isn’t someone you would normally shoot your shot with, but you’re not mad about it.
one of the rare few on the app who would rather die than find a hookup (the idea makes him itchy, okay?) but he will actually seek and find a future spouse, just watch.
san
most of his photos are of him and his friend (it’s wooyoung. of course it’s wooyoung), and the subtext is so confusing that you can’t tell if they’re looking for a third or are just guys being buds ??? what is happening, and why are you so into it?
the photos that don’t include his friend (boyfriend? seriously, what is going on there?) are all action shots because he needs you to know that he is athletic and built. you do not need to wonder what he looks like naked because he’s not wearing a shirt in any of them.
he’s got the stock photo equivalent of a bio. most uninteresting thing you’ve ever seen, so you do not hit him up.
you should have :( you would’ve loved him.
mingi
i regret to inform you that this man has the most cringeworthy online presence of all time. god, he’s so fuckboi-coded!! and you hate him for it, but you hate yourself even more for being into because you sure are, diva!!!
i feel like the song on his profile is extremely questionable, either because it’s some bizarre, ambient instrumental; by someone that’s been justifiably cancelled and you don’t know whether or not he knows that; or worse, it’s his own.
all of his pictures are group pictures. you cannot tell for the life of you which one of them he is, requiring you to go to the instagram he’s referenced in his bio — which is exactly the point. the instagram links to his soundcloud because it can get worse.
if you actually bite the bullet and respond to his shitty pick-up line, he’s the bbygirl to end all bbygirls. absolute heart of gold. you almost want to smack him for being so bad at marketing himself.
get him a PR person to straighten his shit out; mingi is fired.
wooyoung
this motherfucker has deleted and remade his profile 8,000 times because he needs to “reset his matches” aka has spent every waking moment swiping.
he probably pays for tinder so he can swipe in other locations — not because he’s looking for anyone, but because he wants people to look at him.
you have to wonder who took the photos because they’re sure as shit not selfies but they’re all vaguely chic thirst traps (it was san. of course it was san.)
when it comes to messages, he either communicates exclusively with emojis or gifs, or he only responds to compliments. small talk? NOPE. tell him he’s pretty or get out :’)
if you do wind up linking (because the whole conversation thing is a lost cause), he’s insane. you’ll spend one night with him, never see him again, and you will remember him on your deathbed.
was he a ghost or a fever dream? you’ll never know.
jongho
he’s only here because his friends made him, and he will make that crystal clear. nothing else will be, though. he’s either got an extremely dry sense of humor + is deeply ironic, or he’s genuinely that odd.
all of his photos are identical selfies (expression, location, angle, etc.) and the only difference is the shirt he’s wearing. is…. is that on purpose? is he being funny, or is he seriously that much of a cartoon character? WHO KNOWS.
tbh, he’s the dude that makes a profile, finds an IRL partner immediately, and totally forgets he has a profile because he deleted the app ages ago. this is tragic; he would’ve been just your type.
message him all you want, bestie. it won’t work.

Recommendations for additional/alternative social media?
This blog and my wider public social media presence are approaching two years old. While it has been a good time and I am grateful for the following I have attained and friends I have made, I am curious about using other social media. Sure, Tumblr is not the most obscure social media, but it’s more niche than a lot of others. I am interested in taking commissions some time in future and am interested in growing my audience in general, but I also just want to discover new artists and find new inspirations. I already have Reddit and Discord accounts, but from what I understand most people do not use Reddit for personal-blog type social media even though you can post art there, and I’d prefer to keep Discord for personal use. Remember even if I where to create other accounts, I’d probably still use Tumblr as my primary social media
Here is a list of sites I am already aware of, and their personal pros and cons in my eyes (ordered from of most interested to least interested):
Deviantart
+Art focused
+Decently popular (?)
-Had the entire AI debacle. I mean Tumblr essentially turned around and did the same thing, but it still makes me feel weird
-At least from what I understand, there was a mass exodus to other social media sites after the AI debacle and in the past few years in general
-From what I have heard, certain communities can be toxic (though that’s true of all social media)
YouTube
-I actually am genuinely interested in getting into YouTube, it’s just mostly a thing where I don’t know what I’d upload at this point outside of silent speedraws. If I ever actually learn audio/video editing I might go for it, but it would be some time in the future
Instagram/Threads (Lumped together because from what I understand you need one to have the other)
+In the case of Instagram, incredibly popular
-Pretty much forgotten in the case of Threads
-Anything made by Meta gives me the squick. That’s not to say Tumblr’s owners/the owners or runners of any social media are “good” by any means, but still. Even I were to use these, I’d probably focus on output my own work on there rather than interacting with other users.
-Once again I have heard that some subsections of Instagram can be pretty toxic
Furaffinity
+Niche, but its a niche that would probably overlap somewhat with my work and interests
-I have heard the owners/mods are either shitty people themselves or at least associate with shitty/problamatic people. If there where similar alternatives that did not come with said baggage I’d probably been interested in those
Xitter/TikTok
-Just no. I respect anyone who chooses to use either of these for art, they’re just not for me unless for some reason I get really desperate. Like Instagram, even I were to start using these sites, I’d probably focus on my own output rather than interacting with other users.
I left Amino off of here because I have not heard of anyone using it in a while but from what I heard it kind of went down the shitter. Bluesky (?) and ToyHouse are off of here because those require access codes (and I haven’t heard anyone talk about Bluesky in a hot minute), and I feel weird about just asking people for them. Creating my own website, wether that be through Neocities or straight up learning code, falls under the same category as YouTube, where I am interested but don’t have the skills or the time to learn the skills to operate them.

For a while, I've been making watercolour postcards for a place I go to twice a week, which I get paid for, but I've been taking a break from that to recharge my batteries.
Most of my current WIPs are for a game I'm really into, but it's kind of obscure so the fandom is small (and I'm scared of posting). I've been working on this fic about a cinema date between the MC and my favourite character for like a year now.
I did make some pretty cool art of one of the antagonists with this rainbow scratch pad, tho!
-Anon Who Hasn't Drawn Luxe Yet
WHOOOOAAAAA!!! WATERCOLOR POSTCARDS?!?! That sounds beautiful! 😭😭😭 I hope you get paid lots of monies for that! That is so wonderful, you should be very proud of yourself for selling your arts!!
Oh gosh, that is totally understandable! Knowing when to take breaks is a super important!
👀👀👀👀👀 Ooooooooh!! Obscure games have all my love, I love finding niche games. Awwwwwww I totally can empathize, posting can feel super stressful, like it has to be perfect or something! I remember having to like... practically blackmail myself to start posting stories on here! X///Dc Even now! With AI going around and my own anxieties... yeah, I gettcha I really do! It can make you feel really self concious, or nervous that no one will even bother to look at it 😭
I try my best to remember that at the end of the day, even if it's a scribble, or something that people don't really see, it was also made for me! I like it / am proud of it, and so I put it on my blog like a proud kiddo tacking something to the fridge!
A rainbow scratch pad sounds like a really cool 👀👀👀👀

Hallo! I'm Noah, people also know me by Nori! any pronouns are fine!
My main interest is Professor Layton at the moment, again (on and off for the past 16 years ha ha ha)
Other big interests are FFXIV (and some other FF games), Fate series/ FGO, Yu-Gi-Oh! (Original and DM only), Klonoa, Mononoke series and since recently Ace Attorney. Hyperfixations fluctuate heavily and they come and go, rotating them in the back of my brain.
I also enjoy old, niche and obscure games, (psychological) horror and mystery, and alt fashion. Working on some OC stuff in the background till I flesh them out more. Expect some circus and clowns on the way!
I'm very slow on replies and have a hard time keeping up with socials, please bear with me!
As this is a sideblog, I can't follow anyone back with this blog sorry!
You can also find me on:
bluesky: mutejester
twitter: mute_jester
instagram: mutejester (not very active, mostly for cosplay and daily life)
✨🤡✨
#for my pinned post!#might edit this later on#need to update my twitter sometime soon as I have been absent for long periods of time

i don't know where i'm going with this one so bear with me here but
i feel like i exist in this weird middle ground when it comes to myth content where people on either side of a particular set of viewpoints really exhaust me and it's hard to find the right niche. like on one hand, there are myth literalists and misinterpreters who really cherry pick what details from myth that they want to use and grossly exaggerate or misunderstand everything else. i'm talking the classic "hades did nothing wrong, zeus is the root of all evil" people who just won't pick up a single text that may disprove their idea. i complain about those ones often enough lol
but on the other hand, there are those who very strictly police how myths are handled or presented and critique those who haven't read a very specific, very obscure source on something and are therefore WRONG about every idea they have. like, i understand that there are issues with representing a culture and its history / beliefs incorrectly, especially on a larger scale. but in a very large and vast mythos, it seems a little unrealistic to expect that everyone will have read all the same sources and come to the same conclusions, nor that a single person writing funny little stories on their blog has done some great injustice because they didn't "write it correctly". like, take it up with all the writers getting famous off their shitty h/p fanfics, not me
i think both sides do the same thing in very different ways, and that's misrepresent the myths as being something they aren't, and creating a very uncomfortable atmosphere for people who do care, are interested, and have read sources but aren't scholars or extremely casual fans. like, i want to be able to discuss the nuances in myth that some people deliberately ignore, but i don't have the time to become an expert on every single story, and i just want ! to enjoy myself. i guess that's just being on the internet though, so when it comes down to it, i'm complaining about the foundations of the web lmao. call me grandpa out on his front porch screaming at the neighbourhood kids-

I'm gonna be honest, I follow over 700 blogs, but I've also been on this site since like 2015 and probably a large chunk of those are inactive now, I just can't be bothered to go through them to unfollow because like, not really necessary is it? Then there's a good handful of blogs that aren't inactive as such but post only very rarely, but when they post it's something I generally really wanna see. And a bunch I used to share interests with but no longer do but just never remember to actually unfollow...
And then on top of those, I'm in a lot of very niche communities that just aren't going to end up on the For You page (which is recent enough addition that I never really got used to using it anyway and generally only remember it's there if I go to it accidentally) no matter what. Including, but not limited to, the community of people who post in my first language about local politics and such topics. And a group of folks dedicated to a niche stage adaptation of JRR Tolkien's Beren and Lúthien (for you page gives me tolkien fandom stuff, sure, but really just regarding the more mainstream parts of the fandom, not the really obscure stuff), or other small fandoms like that. Fannish communities built around not a specific fandom but some other aspect of the fan experience. That sort of thing. Like, when you're into like ten different types of niche stuff you don't find posts about unless you follow people who post it, that adds up quick. Plus then on top of that ofc I follow a number of blogs for slightly more mainstream things, plus old friends I follow primarily for the friendship with them rather than any shared interests or lack thereof.
I also have like four different sideblogs plus my main blog, so what I reblog gets divided between those, depending on what interests it's about
Then there's a good handful of blogs that aren't inactive as such but post only very rarely, but when they post it's something I generally really wanna see.
This. These are most of my YouTube subscriptions too. A few frequent posters and a bunch who make very occasional masterpieces.
Thanks for the more specific critique of the For You page! Now into the processing vortex you go.

For god's sake people if you AREN'T bots please understand this is not like Twitter or Instagram or TikTok or whatever y'all use. Just. Protips:
Somesys with the username buttfuck69420 and an anime character picture will get you much further than midnight-dream78 and a picture of your face or your cat. We'll actually be sharing some pictures that you can use on the house from us if you'd like to!!! They're just some little edits we made on the spot for the sole purpose of this post.
That being said, feel free to spam your cat and your face on your blog otherwise. Although most people here use it for more obscure or niche bullshit. We talk about our endogenic multiplicity for example when we think of stuff, and reblog literally Anything our headmates find shiny. Some people literally just run an aesthetic blog for scene or goth or pretty sunsets or literally just a single color like the color pink. Some people put their religion on their blog weather that's wicca or chirstianity or hinduism or anything else. Some people leave their blog blank besides the pfp and a note on their pinned post and bio stating they only interact from their side blogs (as long as you leave that note ur good)!! Like, the sky is the fucking limit here.
Tags are for organization and if you tag something like #MyHeroAcademia but it's just you putting on makeup unrelated to cosplay/a skit/if it isn't MHA themed, that's called spam and is not only against the ToS on this site but is just considered incredibly incredibly rude. Like. Most folks here are more likely to block and report you for that. If you want engagement with anything you tag properly or do not tag at all.
There's no algorithm! Well, there is a small one these days but it sucks, almost everyone on this site hates it that's been here for awhile, and most traffic is run by you and whatever you make or reblog from other folks here.
If your joke or shitpost breaches containment (most of you would call it going viral?) there is a good chance it will still be circulating the ecosystem of this hellsite thirty years from now. Almost NOTHING truly dies here and we very much mean nothing.
There is reblog and there is queue. Reblog to share something immediately and use queue to share it later! Be aware that queue posts still take up a spot for your 250 overall posts and reblogs for the day though.
Because this is an introductory post, we are doing No Nuance November in May. Reblog =/= repost. Reposting is generally very rude here and takes away attention from the original poster. Reblog instead. Tumblr specifically gives both you and the creator engagement.
Tagging people in shit is fun and amazing and people love when you tag them on shit here. Sending in asks is fun and amazing and people love when you send them asks here. Infodumping on a random post on your blog is fun and amazing and people love when you infodump here.
There IS an option for a private side blog but there is caveats: firstly again it has to be a side blog so it can never be the initial blog you made first unfortunately; secondly even if you tag stuff in it there is no way to reliably use the search function in a private/locked side blog. Okay? Okay.
Anyways, now that the boring part is over, we can give the class some goodies in the form of profile pics! They're just some random edits we made on the fly for the sole purpose of sharing them here for you all to use, but we also have them on our edits sideblog or on our picsart (which is in the "source" link in the veeeery bottom left corner of this post) if you're ever curious about that. C:
We have to go to sleep now as of the creation of this post, so have a good whatever timezone and time of day you all are currently in!

Blog Masterlist and Rundown:
Where I reblog memes and art, and post my art and stories too-
—
Ao3 link- I post fanfiction on Tumblr from time to time, but you can find most of my stories on my Ao3 account!
—
Sideblogs:
cr0ssingmoth for all my Levi thirsting and Aot oc tormenting needs.
—
Current hyper fixation: Afk Arena/Journey
—
Tags and characters-
I mostly reblog memes and such, but you can find my art under the ‘m0th draws’ tag! My writing should be under ‘m0thwrites’ if you want to see some drabbles I haven’t posted to Ao3
The characters I mainly write for right now are from Tfa and a bit of Tfp, and that includes ocs and self inserts for them too!
The main s/i is Faux Pas, and is her main tag!
The lesser ones are listed under the name Grey! Tfa or Tfp Grey have their own little niche that pops up here and there, no definitive tag yet-
The two Tranformers that currently occupy my mind 24/7 are Prowl and Starscream, so expect to find *a lot* about them on this blog- and by alot, that includes a ship for them. You can find it under the Ninjastar tag!
The lesser known ocs I talk about once in a blue moon is Devanii Hellfrost and Sybil Jorther. The only lore you’re getting of those two is from tags and obscure Tumblr reblogs, but they’re here too.
Syvanii stories:
Damned if I do, Damned if I don't
—
My current brain worm is my OC Caramele! You can find him under his name and 'the ringmaster' tag!
—
Another tag worth mentioning is the comms tag! Every now and then I get wonderful commissions that definitely need to be checked out! The artists are phenomenal and I do love the pieces they were kind enough to work on!
Status on asks-
Always open. I may take a while to respond due to work and gathering my courage, but I encourage questions and asks. Just expect awkward response in the beginning since, of course, I am not yet used to asks-
Current aus I have I feel are worth mentioning- (more likely to be added)
The Faux Pas au. Everything is the same except for the fact Faux Pas exists in the Tfaverse and is there to solely cause problems and go through problems.
Holoform/Humanformers au. Human Error if it actually happened, but Meltdown, Blackaracnia, and Soundwave are the main causes. All Cybertronians on earth turn into humans and is essentially a huge slice of life sitcom. Focused primarily around Starscream and his redemption arc.
Bounty-22 au. A work in progress, but Cybertronians and humans living in cowboy times. Prowl-centric in a way, him exploring the Wild West looking for vengeance and an artifact while traveling with an outlaw he doesn’t know is an outlaw. (The outlaw is Starscream, the best and worst liar in the west. I just really love Starscream, okay? But never fear, Lockdown plays a huge part in this au too. Because you can’t have cowboys without Lockdown.)
Zombies/Last of Us au. Yes, that’s right. Softbody robots and horrors beyond imagining. Another work in progress, but based around survival and zombies. No, none of the main cast die, I love them too much for that, they deserve their little community during the apocalypse.
Dead Space Au: A newly recruited Tfa Autobot Starscream replaces Isaac Clarke in the events of Dead Space. If you know Dead Space, you know he’s fucked mentally and physically. If you don’t know Dead Space, space zombies and serious fucked up shit. The Thing level horror. Know he is not coming out unscathed.
Tfa Ninjastar Twilight au: Exactly what it sounds like. The werewolves don’t exist here, and Starscream is the human in place of Bella. Takes no shit and runs most of the show because he’s Starscream. Meyer has no power here. I’m highjacking the lore and making all the characters suffer.

🚩 🚩 🚩 { just curious }
Oh shit you are trying to put me on a soap box, aight hear me out. 1. AESTHETICS DONT MEAN SHIT IF YOU CANNOT WRITE. It makes me so SICK to see how the roleplay community is about how pretty you make your blog look but you cant even use your and you're correctly my g. Not shitting on anyone for using grammar incorrectly, it happens to the best of us but if I cannot comprehend a word you say in your response, decorating should be the last thing you worry about. Reading a book takes just as much time as decorating the blog, maybe pick up one.
2. NOT HAVING MOBILE FRIENDLY LINKS ANYWHERE IS CHILDISH. Me personally, I came to tumblr during a time where I had to do a mini scavenger hunt to find rules, information, etc on a blog bc pinned comments and linking in bios didnt exist. That was 3ish years ago and it sucked navigating as a mobile user back then because we werent as recognized as desktop. Its a new era and not alot of people have access to computers, dont be an ass and inconvenience others bc you cant be bothered to pin and link something. AND AN ADDITIONAL POINT. You cannot get upset with those who ask to see your rules or other pages on your blog bc you dont have it easily accessible. This is ESPECIALLY important if you are mutuals only, send the stuff and dont be an ass about it.
3. ON THE TOPIC OF MUTUALS ONLY, IF YOU ONLY ROLEPLAY WITHIN THE FANDOM OR WITH 5 PEOPLE, YOU CANNOT COMPLAIN ABOUT OTHERS BEING VERSTILE. Now dont get me wrong, new fandoms use mutual only systems as a form of protection, Im not talking about them. Im saying for example, marvel muses who only roleplay within the marvel fandom (like only roleplaying with avenger muses and no one else) and dont venture out! Thats boring and shows you cant switch up your style or go outside of your comfort zone for writing. I get it, some fandoms are more niche than others, require more knowledge than others, once again not talking about them. I mean popular fandom canon muses who do not interact with ocs, other side characters, and keep a small circle of roleplay buddies then complain about the lack of interactions or lack of new people coming to the blog. Most people can tell right away that their blog wont mesh well with yours since you only roleplay with the same 5 people! Babe, it turns us off.
4. and a bonus bc why not. IF YOU ARE MUTUALS ONLY HAVE THAT SOMEWHERE EASILY ACCESSIBLE/EASY TO SEE. I know to read rules as its basic etiquette when it comes to rping but most people do not have it big and bolded that they are mutuals only. Im one of those people who need to see it as soon as I go onto a blog. Respectfully if you have it as a rule, dont wait until I click on your caard, put it on the 20th rule, or put it in a really obscure spot. Put it in your bio! Even if you are selective seriously!
#chubby bunny {ooc}#ding dong; {answered}#{i rant bc im passionate-}#{bc i have so many rp related rants its unreal-}

Frank, please present me with your DNI (do-not-interact) list.
If you mean the "do not block" list on the sidebar, I have no objections there:
People I have no plans to interact with. I get a bunch of those.
Tumblr users with very niche or obscure interests. I do not follow most of you, and I've seen your stuff in the tumblr app and on my dash, and it is very rarely good. Not sure why I have you on this list.
People I have unfollowed because of their bad opinions or their bad opinions alone.
People who were clearly making an unserious/outrageous claim which I do not find funny.
Random users with no commentary tag, except to block them.
Someone I've never interacted with.
I think this is just my dash, and I don't always remember to follow new blogs, but there are people I occasionally follow and will probably go back and block eventually, especially ones whose URLs are distinctive.
People whose URLs I recognize but haven't actually seen their posts. Most people on this list fall under this.
Bad political opinion post; I've already blocked the OP. I don't even know the URL of the OP, so I'm not sure if I even really "saw" it at all.
I have no plans to interact with these people, but this is just how I'm built.
Anonymous asks about my book reviews or reviews of other books or book summaries which I did not write, if these are even real blogs. These are very bad.
People who I have unfollowed because they blocked me. This is not my favorite thing, but I also sometimes block some people, and I like to see who blocks me and why. This is the first thing on the list I decided to look at when I unfollowed someone. I am not going to stop doing it, but I'm going to try to make a more rigorous decision procedure for it.
For the record, this is not a case of me "following people" whom I dislike just because I find them funny; no one I like is on here. It's mostly like this because when I follow someone, it's often either a case of "this seems cool and I don't remember enough of why to block yet" or "this person said something very bad to me once and I feel like I'm at my limit now."
#this might be a bit of a reach#but i'd bet that it contains at least one person i've never interacted with even though i might know their URL#i want to know who in my askbox is actually a Bad Person and who is just a human I dislike#unlike some people who are just human-shaped baddies#torturedbyfangs

I really really really love/hate the internet.
It never ceases to amaze me when I remember it was created by human beings. It seems like a bunch of images/concepts/shouts into the void, and yet behind every single element there's a person. And that's so terrifying and amazing because it's like nearly everything that we've created as a species ends up here in some form or another. And if it somehow hasn't yet, there are groups working hard to make sure it does.
I am unique from many in my generation (born 2003) because I spent a large portion of my formative years with very little internet access. As a kid I was all over those kids MMOs and virtual pet games, and as a teen I was really into tiktok, instagram, and youtube. But in between those times, after I had developed the curiosity to venture outside of neopets dot com, but before social media took over everyone's life and the internet was more than like 6 websites, I wasn't able to explore and really see what's out there. I never ran the gauntlet, stumbled upon bestgore, saw porn at age 10, was groomed on kik, or any of those experiences that so many of gen z seem to identify with. So when I gained access to the internet, all I really wanted to do was use social media and message my friends like every other kid my age was doing at the time.
Then I discovered something called elsagate. I was thrown into this rabbit hole of conspiracy theories, deleted youtube videos, and insane reddit posts about this bit of youtube that nobody except children knew about - until a few parents realized what the fuck their kids were watching and alerted the press about it.
Around the same time, I got into iceberg videos, I researched youtube drama, I talked to randos on omegle, I spent time lurking on the incel forums, I read about subreddits that had been banned, I listened to podcast episodes about real-life crime that got it's start on obscure fetish forums, I read wikipedia pages for fun, and I found some of the weirdest porn that the internet has to offer.
The truth is, I'm obsessed with the internet. And yet, there aren't a ton of books about the cultural aspect of things. Not much freely accessible research on the various fandoms, subcultures, fetish groups, micro-religions, and communities that are unique to the internet. That sucks for someone like me who wants to learn more without having to find everything from primary sources, but it's also great because that means I have a niche to fill and a hobby besides living vicariously through my sims.
I wanted this blog to be a neocities website but alas, I am a dumbass with no desire to learn basic HTML, or at least no drive to do it at the moment. I might figure it out and move everything over there but for now I'm just gonna keep things here where it's user-friendly and doesn't make me type these things <<<>>> all the time.
I'm going to write a bunch about a subject I think is interesting, do lots of research, and include my sources at the bottom. I will be using wikipedia and youtube as sources because A) aforementioned lack of secondary sources about shit like otherkins and femcels, and B) it's a tumblr account, not a college essay. I dropped out of college for a reason, I'm not about to subject myself to MLA APA format hell because I wanna write about the cultural impact of coolmathgames.
Posts will be coming whenever I am motivated to write, but hopefully I'll have something every other week or so. If you want to suggest a topic/nag me to post more/ask for more info my ask box is open. I'll also try to keep a masterlist of posts + links pinned for easy access ✭

so i've been extremely overwhelmed by....... i guess everything online lmao, it's really hard to focus on things when you're constantly bombarded with things you don't really need at the moment
i'm trying to get back into journaling but damn it's so hard. i know my head isn't empty, i spawn walls of texts almost daily, but my mind goes blank when i'm in front of an open notebook because i don't know what's truly worthy of writing down? it's kind of like with drawing at this point. i'm stuck with the art block because i don't know what's worthy of drawing. and guess what made me feel this way? the social media lmfao. i hate that literally every idea i consider cool i never depict because my brain immediately goes like, "who cares about this?", "this won't get noticed and also you're too late, so don't be cringe", etc
i hate this so much idk. anyway, i think i'm going to make a list of things to focus on, both personal projects/artistic inspirations and fandom related ones. i do have things i overfixate on for years, so why am i letting myself be distracted by some random content ideas that only matter to me for like a day or two...?
i should also start limiting inspirations in general, looking at my folder rn and realizing that there are just WAY TOO MANY things i want to incorporate into my work and it really overwhelms me. reminds me of various artists saying that "less is more" and holy crap i should start limiting myself. this is something i slowly started to realize on my own when i did some pixel art, which is limited already due to its nature, with some color palettes instead of randomly staring at a color wheel for half an hour, not being able to decide which one to use.
also i found out about artfol, social media for artists, and so far it seems promising? haven't tried it yet, maybe i will upload some stuff there later. also maybe i'll finally sort everything here on tunglr dot com and make a separate art blog and will use this one as my "main"-diary-esque blog where i won't post much. it's not like i'm on here anyway, my dash feels overwhelming so i don't even scroll past 3-4 posts a day anymore on here. i'm tired of social media. it doesn't feel personal anymore, it's not fun, not interesting...
fomo effect used to fuck me up before something clicked and i stopped scrolling things. because due to nature of the modern internet, i have more chances of stumbling across useful/interesting information if i just keep scrolling through junk. since as you know, google is dead anyway, shit is hard to find these days, and indeed, every cool thing i managed to find was through random braindead scrolling (post 2016 i mean, i miss mid 2000s era when stuff was actually GOOGLEABLE and you didn't need to scroll long ass feed to stumble across cool things, you could get there at your own pace while just surfing the web). so the habit was made worse by "damn what if i miss some obscure post that features obscure cool thing that will matter to me once i get to know it??" but i'm just so fucking exhausted... everything i love about the internet because so dormant, niche even. the internet, as i define it, is dead to me. it's really heartbreaking

Frost Fatales is Happening!
Frost Fatales is Happening!
Or at least, it will in a few hours from when this gets posted.
Frame Fatales, if you’re not familiar, is a speedrunning marathon event run by the same crew who run Games Done Quick. It’s still a charity speedrunning event, it uses a lot of the same bumpers and plans, but it’s also designed to be a space to showcase and present runners who fit into the categories represented by the simple premise of ‘women.’ That is to say, anyone who’s a woman, whether trans or cis or gender nonconforming or nonbinary.
I imagine for the typical reader of this blog I don’t exactly need to make a case as to why this kind of separate showcase is necessary, but I figure there’s always a chance it’s someone’s first experience with this kind of event, so let’s give you some basic bullet points as to why a no-dudes showcase is useful:
Twitch, the platform the event runs on, is still an open space for gamers, meaning that the twitch chat can sharply turn into a hostile space. Runners of marginalised groups have dealt with harrassment from such a large audience in the past, and that’s not great! A pointedly smaller event which is easier to moderate and has an explicitly women-centred focus makes it both safer for runners to get involved and easier for the moderators to take care of.
The existing speedrunning culture has a lot of dudes in it, which means GDQ is biased towards presenting the work of those dudes. A space for women to present their work serves to help address that imbalance, and gets to encourage more women to get involved.
There’s a very limited amount of slots for GDQ, even though it lasts a week. Making a space for a smaller subcategory of the community, and encouraging a wider variety of people to partake, opens the floor for more niche games, where there’s less active attention, to get to present their own best case.
It’s a not-ideal scenario that this kind of thing is worth having, but it’s good that we have it! And the event has a bunch of stuff I’m going to recommend you check out!
The schedule for the event is here, and it even localises to your time. The stuff I’m looking forward to is based on runners doing the runs, and the games they’re doing.
First up, I love Lizstar’s runs. There’s something about Frame Fatales, I find, where the whole grouping tends to be more likely to present games from consoles and platforms that aren’t as America-centric. I mean Sega. Really, that’s what I mean, Nintendo and Playstation and Xbox are the consoles that took hold in the US and that means that a lot of the classic or retro games you see on the GDQ stage tend to come from that stock. Lizstar tends to present more obscure material from other consoles (like the Saturn and Master Systems). I have no idea what Tall Twins Tower is, gunna be fun to find out.
Then there’s a Skyward Sword run, which is a Zelda game that doesn’t tend to get looked at as often as any of the big ones. It does clock in at almost two hours, so think of it as a bulky movie if you’re going to sit down and watch it, I wouldn’t expect it to rip along, and for there to be a fair bit of downtime for the runners to explain things.
I’m excited to see the speedrun of the awkward-to-control atmospheric game FAITH: Chapter III. The game is an atmospheric horror-type! Those games tend towards being hard to control and punishing when you lose, and speedrunners often have to understand how they work, how they don’t fail, and that can be both interesting to watch happen and fun to pick up tricks for making the game more handleable when you’re playing casually.
There are also runs of Stray and Tunic, which are games I am interested in because they look cute, and they’re not super short, which means it’ll be a chance to watch how the games play, and get a clear impression of the kinds of things the game thinks of as meaningful. I’m not too proud to pretend I don’t go into games the first time having seen speedrunners break the mechanics and tell me how to do it so that I can play the game knowing what I’m not meant to bother trying. Speedrunners are a particular kind of expert after all!
There’s also going to be a run of the Most Forgotten Sonic game, Tails Adventure, and better yet it’s a glitchless any% run! This is a run that’s nearing on a ‘free bronze’ category of speedrun, because the game has so few people doing the 100% run, and the game is really cute and charming. When you hear about Sonic The Hedgehog games, the ‘explorer puzzle platformer’ wasn’t probably what you expected to get out of the early handhelds!
And and and, Sabermesia is going to be up and running Axiom Verge — which is super cool, because she’s great, and that’s a game full of bright, exciting looking movement and combat. I understand not only is she great at the game and charming and funny to talk to, but also, could probably do this run in a cute frilly apron. I believe in her, and so should you.
What I really wonder about is why they’re calling this one, which happens right in the hottest part of summer, ‘Frost Fatales.’ I have to assume there’s some really clever literary reference here, about paths not travelled. Was that Robert Frost? Probably. I’m not going to check, certainly not for this momentary joke.
If you’re reading this now, when my timer normally drops it, then Frost Fatales hasn’t started yet. It’s not going to start for a few hours, in fact. I’m going to miss a big chunk of the day’s fun because unlike GDQ, Frame Fatales goes to bed and values the idea of taking breaks and operating at the level you can manage. No need to worry about what you missed, though – they’re going to get uploaded to Youtube to watch in full in your own time!
Check it out on PRESS.exe to see it with images and links!

For the mini fic: Cablepool, with the prompt 'noise'
Noise
There's a noise Cable makes when Wade does something just right, and call Wade a sucker, but he can't get enough of it.
It's not (shockingly) a sex thing. Or at least, not strictly. Wade can get Nate to make the sound when they're in bed (or on Nate's couch, or in the kitchen, or wherever else clothes happen to come off), but it's just as likely to happen elsewhere.
It's an approval sound, low and throaty, somewhere between a grunt and a hum. With Nate's growly Charlton Heston voice, it's a sexy sound, even when the moment isn't right for sexy things.
Just a little sound, soft even, but Wade loves it. He finds himself, on his best behaviour – or at least his most useful behaviour – going out of his way to make it happen.

Cash-strapped sexy writer seeks YOUR wallet TODAY!
Home repairs are hell and I’m trying to get out from under a doozy of a bill I’ve had to put on credit. If I can pay my tab before April 30th 2023, I won't owe any interest, which would be rad. Unfortunately, disability pays like shit. SO.
Would you like to buy a series of commissions? Now's your chance. How about a backstory for your new OC? Wham. Want to read some niche porn? I've gotcha there too.
What’s on offer:
Original fiction (includes erotica) – 10c per word
Fanfiction (includes erotica) – 5c per word
Editing (fiction, non fiction, essays) – 5c per word
Copy writing for websites, flyers, etc. – 10c per word
I’m willing to write for basically any fandom, or even OCs if you provide me with character details. However, if you want me to do lots of research (watch a show, read a book, study a wiki about your obscure fave), I have to charge for my time.
Opening five slots a month, starting today!

Hey all, so I finally found a good therapist who doesn’t think that lupus can be cured with positive vibes and veggies, and although he’s only charging me 40$ a session, I’ve now got to find an extra $160 a month on top of the utilities, student loans and the other fun shit that I barely meet each month. I also need to get my cat groomed and vaccinated this or next month, which was planned for until the electric company decided to double my usual bill.
I’m a disabled trans writer. I write gay erotica, angst, and monster fucking, both in fanfic and original work. I’m willing to write for most any fandom, or even OCs if you can provide me with character and plot detail. However, if I’m being asked to do extensive research (watch a show, read a book, study a wiki about your obscure fave, learn the nuance of your OC), I will need to be compensated for time.
I’m doing at least 500 words per $12 spent. This means you are GUARANTEED 500 words, but likely will get something more like 750. The more money you spend, the more words I write you. Spend more, get more words, easy peasy. Max commission at this point is 5000 words guaranteed ($120).
Please talk to me first before paying for a commission, in case what you want is something I can’t or won’t write. Hard no’s include but are not limited to: incest, bigoted anything (no racism, trans/homophobia, ableism), gratuitous violence against animals or minors, pedophilia.
Email me (fixyouupnice @ gmail) or send an ask to discuss what you’d like written.
I’m currently opening six (6) slots to start!
1. @eritela
2. @formlessvoidbeast
3. @eritela again
4.

If you can’t donate or don’t want to commission, please help by reblogging.

UPDATE: the electric bill has been paid! I'm still working on the medical debt. Unfortunately, I just got stuck with another 500$ bill on top of the 230$ I owe for various blood tests and imaging stuff. Help is still very much needed and appreciated!

My #1 post of 2022
Nobody's stopping you from taking 4 tablespoons of butter, melting it in a pot, and adding two tablespoons of minced garlic. Nobody's stopping you from letting that garlic saute for like two minutes, or from then adding in two tablespoons of shaved parmesan. And nobody will stop you from stirring half a pound of al dented pasta into that buttery mess, cracking some pepper over it, and feasting on the garlicky spoils gained from such labours.
Nobody's stopping you. The cops can't even arrest you for it.
