Full list of Side B OCs under the cut!
Bracket post
Side A list
Professor Morelle Da Capo | She/her | @kira-moonrabbit
Robotwoman who is famous for being dedicated. She works 24/7. Her hobbies include "logging everyone's opinions about her" and "standing still thinking about bicycles"
Chester Mallory | He/Him | @liliflower137
Chester is a twitch streamer and freelance programmer. The multiverse keeps dropping wild adventures on his lap but man he just wants to kiss his husband, cook some food for his friends, and take a damn nap.
Lilly | She/her | @pocket-ghostie
CW: Child death
Lilly is a ghost who has found other ghosts and is hanging out <3 Almost all of the plot is happening around her. Thats actually a major plot point in the story, things are happening to the people she cares about... but nothing is really happening to her. She is simply hanging out and doesn't know what to do about the plot, but it keeps going without her doing anything. I don't have much to say about her, I only have things to say about the people around her.

Cobblestone Mason | He/him | @splatoonmaster69
A regular human fighter youve seen a thousand times. I promise. NEURODIVERGENCY JUMPSCARE.
(Mod note: I promise there's gonna be more context for this guy in the actual polls when I put the longer description there lmao)
CW: Transformation horror, isekai, lightning strikes
Mendel Warrenpeace | He/him | @bittersweetbonbon
Mendel was just a normal guy, who happened to love Toontown: Corporate Clash *so* much that he played it nearly 24/7, maxing out all of his gags and disguises, even going so far as to become a beta tester for experimental VR haptic suits, just so he could be more immersed in the game. However, he was foolish enough to play the game in VR during the most intense lightning storm seen in his area, got struck by said lightning, and was isekaed into the game itself. Now trapped in the world he used to adore, at level one no less, he would do anything to get back home, up to and including re-beating the game, no matter how strenuous running around and throwing pies at robots is in "real life". Of course, beating the game isn't going to free him from Toontown's inky clutches, but we don't have to tell him that, right? Of course not.
Darien | He/him | @bittersweetbonbon
Darien is a normal guy in every way possible, except for the fact that his boss, Anthony, has been steadily replacing all of his coworkers with robots. So, in response, Darien started bonding aggressively with the robots, bringing them home-baked goods and motor oil and listening to their problems, until said robots unanimously decided "Yeah, we like this guy, we're keeping him.". When his boss got word of the robots liking Darien more than him, he conspired to turn Darien into a robot, too, and would have succeeded if said robots didn't revolt against Anthony, turning *him* into the robot instead. Now with a legion of incredibly loyal automatons behind him, Darien has become the de-facto owner of the company, a fact that stresses him out to no end, and drives Anthony to the end of his wit with jealousy.
#cyclops# | It/they | @splatoonmaster69
Cycnical highschool nurse with a haircut that gets them mocked by the teenage mages they are the unwilling gaurdian of.
Volshebney Rebenok Asteroff | He/him | @splatoonmaster69
The worlds most 14 year old ever. Eats a diet of only mac and cheese. Sneaks onto a boat by stabbing it and passing out. Just. So Incredibly 14 years old
Gloria | She/her | @mysterystar2
Just a gal! She's got a normal family and (up until recently) a normal life too. She's got a special interest in photography and is also generally a very anxious gal, and a lot of us can probably relate <3. She's super considerate and is super close with her friends and family, and would probably be your buddy too even if you only tell her hi.
Levi Dienhart | He/him | @imfirequeen
Levi lost his memories and is now kinda just a wet pathetic cat of a man. He works in a craft shop all day and has a sweet girlfriend and a daughter they adopted. He's in a constant state of being unfazed and just confused, but he does like purple. He's the embodiment of the autism creature.
Chel | She/her | @toonfanstars
She was just an average guy. She would wake up, eat breakfast, and get ready for work. She didn't particularly like her job, but her coworker was friendly enough, even if a little too ambitious. She likes to keep her routine as normal as possible, and any little deviation usually bugs her but she tries to deal with it. Whether it be that she can't find a matching pair of socks or suddenly getting possessed by a demon, nothing is stopping her from getting her morning coffee & bagel from her favourite bakery.
Rishi | He/Him | @littlemsterious
he’s cursed, has seen the horrors. is pretty laid back about it. he didnt do it, it just happened to him.
Freddy V. | He/him | @g0thiclem0nade
Freddy is just some greasy southern accented vampire that is definitely older than the US of A. He likes to play his guitar and rock out with his friends. From helping people save their sisters to running around a post thermonuclear wasteland America he’s very often sidelined by some other cooler person. It should also be noted this guy has been a character occurrence in several of my video game play throughs because he’s just that versatile.
Zena | She/her/hers, it/its/its, and ze/zir/zirs, but all pronouns are acceptable | @spark-ocblog (CW: mentions of blood and murder on this blog)
Zena works a variety of retail jobs and lives in a boring, cheap, low-quality apartment. She is entirely oblivious to the various supernatural happenings in the town she's in, despite being one of the oldest supernatural creatures in the area. It likes to participate in mundane human activities for fun, such as "Lie Down On A Cushion For Eight Hours With Your Eyes Closed," and "Pet Animal." Zir biggest worries are busy shifts and managing human finances.
Bea Hart | He/Him | @lowpolyskeletonz
Bea Hart may be half God, but you know what he also is? Just a guy. He's a husband and father, an absolute sweetheart and probably the only person in his friend group who's still atleast half human.
Levi | He/him | @cyikess
An unwilling chronic isekai protagonist. He can't catch a break! He keeps getting thrown to new and different fantasy/sci-fi/whatever worlds when all he wants is his normal life back. He's just a guy!

Storytelling Secrets
Hah, I hadn’t realized this was a pass-it-on type of thing until I was looking back at @townsenddecades’s posts. Considering I’m still sorta finishing up the next few UDC posts, take this as a treat!
1. Originally, I had a story in mind for Marci and Gloria to come together to solve their differences and stuff, but I had procrastinated for far too long, and, well, it never happened. Along with that, it’s also why it’s taken so long for Dayana to marry — I just got absorbed in the Kensington’s day-to-day life and neglected my side households. Dayana’s plot line was supposed to start in 1302, where she was initially supposed to be sixteen at the time until I pushed it back.
2. I’ve been keeping news on the royal family pretty vague (cough, King ‘Edworth’ and Queen ‘Isabel’) so as not to lock myself into replicating the actual shenanigans happening during the 1310s. Nonetheless, things are happening behind the scenes that I just don’t feel fit the story right now. By the 1320s, however, the family will definitely be mentioned in detail - just by very morbid news. As of right now, though? The Crown Prince has just married a noblewoman, and his parents are multiplying children like crazy given I haven’t applied any birth rolls to them.
3. Speaking of the royal family, my thought process for Kurtis’ latest knight tournament was that it was brought together in celebration of Queen Isabel’s 16th birthday. Luckily, I had thought far enough to not write that down, because the in-game royal family really doesn’t have a damn thing to do with Isabella or Edward the II.
4. Kerstan Lassiter never existed. When I first started UDC, I had very surface-level teachings of the medieval times, so I wasn’t really following the most realistic situations for my sims. This is the main reason why I have little to no pictures outside of big events. 1) I had never expected to start blogging so I barely screenshots. 2) A lot of development for the side households never happened in-game and was only recently written down for a more coherent story. Trying to justify little things unthought of back then has been pretty fun, though! I literally rethought the (Gen 0) Lottway’s entire backstory just to justify Kurtis’ existence as a knight.
5. Though Lord Kerstan doesn’t exist, his son does. I don’t think it was well explained in my 1310 Kensington post, but after his death, Samir Lassiter - in his early 20s - takes his father’s place. Like the royal family, he won’t have a role to play until after the Great Famine, when he decides to show his face a lot more often. Spoilers, he’s very much an asshole.
6. I don’t know if I’ll ever mention this in Lottway posts but, funnily enough, there was a period of time when Kurtis and Casandra would visit the Kensingtons constantly by themselves. Anytime Casandra visited at the same time as Kurtis? Kurtis decided to leave. It’s actually why I’ve interpreted their relationship as a downward spiral. To make matters worse for the Lottways, per the RPO mod, Kurtis initially never wanted kids, and therefore, Brynn was born as an unwanted child. Yet, one day, after updating the mod, everyone’s thoughts on children refreshed which left Kurtis’ opinion on having kids neutral, AKA leaving Brynn as literally the only child he did not want.
Anyway, this was fun! I can’t wait to talk about the 1320s/1330s. I’m passing this on to @abigailsultimatedecadesblog (I don’t know how but I hadn’t fully realized you had a udc blog?!?) and @soffiisims (welcome back again!).
#morbid's ultimate decades challenge#sims 4 medieval#udc details#also alexandre’s name was originally estevan#but that sounded way 2 similar to esteban so I changed it#sims historical#sims 4 decades challenge#ultimate decades challenge#ts4 simblr#scheduled

Beach Ken as a mint-condition boxed doll: a heartbreaking Kencanon 💔
Barbie is the kind of movie that’s going to inspire a thousand interpretations, and i wanted to play around with some of the ideas within!! don’t take this too seriously - i do think the Barbies and Kens are more like physical representations of ideas, but it’s still fun to think of them as characters 😉 spoilers for the Barbie movie below!!
so the brilliant @avatarmerida/Allisa came up with this fascinating bit of lore for Ken...that Stereotypical Barbie is not really ‘his’ Barbie, and that Beach Ken really ought to have a Beach Barbie has his counterpart. Allisa posits that Weird Barbie may well be Ken’s original Barbie, prior to her weirdification 👀 check out this behind-the-scenes picture from an apparent deleted scene:
i think this is a marvellous theory that ties up some very interesting things about Ken’s behaviour in comparison to the other Kens, and especially why the other Barbies and Kens seem to be quite comfortable with one another (even if the other Kens also felt rejected enough to follow Beach Ken on his patriarchal bender). we get a lot of Ken’s inner workings and self-loathing in a cover of a song he sings to Barbie, ‘Push’ by Matchbox 20:
'Said, I don't know if I've ever been good enough I'm a little bit rusty, and I think my head is caving in And I don't know if I've ever been really loved By a hand that's touched me, and I feel like something's got to give'
here we can see that Ken’s deep-seated insecurity isn’t a recent development: he isn’t sure that he has ever been good enough. he makes references to never feeling like he’s been loved ‘by a hand that’s touched me’...this supports Allisa’s idea that Ken has never been played with, or was/is neglected in some way compared to the other Barbies and Kens in Barbieland. i wonder if the ‘rustiness’ he’s referring to is actually his capacity for intimacy.
if we run with Allisa’s idea of Weird Barbie being Beach Ken’s Barbie, we have to ask: is Ken intellectually cognizant of ‘his’ Barbie being missing, or does he experience this void in a traumatic kind of way - a deep, sinking, emptiness in his gut? the way Ken’s jealousy manifests makes me lean towards the latter, especially with the way that the Barbies and Kens are largely ignorant of how they relate to the dolls that humans play with. here’s a related thought: isn’t it curious how Weird Barbie, the Barbie who has arguably been played with the most, is the one who knows about the human world? this connection seems consistent: the more Stereotypical Barbie was thought about/’played with’ by Gloria as an adult, the more aware she became of the human world. if we take that bit of canon and work backwards, we have to ask...what would happen to a doll who has been played with the least - or was outright neglected? let’s take a look at some more lyrics from ‘Push’:
‘Said I don't know why you ever would lie to me Cause I'm a little untrusting when I think that truth is gonna hurt you And I don't know why you couldn't just stay with me You couldn't stand to be near me When my face don't seem to wanna shine Cause I'm a little bit dirty, oh, well Don't just stand there, say nice things to me' it’s possible that not only is Ken only vaguely aware of why he’s in so much pain: he could be less aware than another Ken with a missing Barbie would be, because he has been played with the least. although the other Kens are about as insecure and dumb as you’d expect from dolls designed to be accessories, our Ken specifically seems to believe there’s something wrong with him: that Barbie hates him and that it’s down to the way he behaves or just is as a Ken. he moves from describing himself as ‘a little bit dirty’ to begging Barbie to do something, say anything that would make him feel good about himself. everything Ken does from his scary jealous-dancing to his upending of Barbieland shows off how badly he wants to be noticed. Ken isn’t just touch-starved: he’s intimacy-starved.
i don’t think this damage is interchangeable with the other Kens; as of the time of writing, it seems that Ken is unique in Barbieland for not having a Barbie as his counterpart. whether or not the other Barbies and Kens were designed to be together, or were paired together during play, it appears that our Ken is the only one without a Barbie who reciprocates his affections in some manner, or understands they are ‘supposed’ to be together. we see this in his song ‘I’m Just Ken’:
'I have feelings that I can't explain Drivin' me insane All my life been so polite But I'll sleep alone tonight Cause I'm just Ken, anywhere else I'd be a ten Is it my destiny to live and die a life of blond fragility?' those feelings that are driving him insane may not be unique to Beach Ken, but i think either the size of those feelings, or Ken’s capacity for dealing with them, is. the other Kens (notably Simu Liu’s Ken, or ‘Ken 2′) seem relatively well-adjusted (for Kens) until Ken returns with knowledge of the patriarchy. perhaps it’s because we are supposed to focus on Beach Ken’s emotions, but it does seem like our Ken has a disproportionate amount of self-loathing, anxiety, arrogance, and a desire to be loved. why is he like this compared to the other Kens? well, i think that our Ken has the wrong end of the stick. he believes that there is something wrong with him - that he is dirty, defective, or broken in some way - but it’s actually the exact opposite. i think that while his counterpart Barbie - Weird Barbie - was played with and loved a great deal, that our Ken was kept in the box, and has never been played with once.
what would happen to a doll in Barbieland whose self-esteem and understanding of relationships hinges on the way, or how much, they’re played with? when i say i think Ken is a boxed doll, i don’t mean a collector’s item; i’m inclined to believe if he was, he would be able to feel that love the way Barbie could feel how she was played with. i think it’s more likely he’s still boxed, and was forgotten about and never opened. doesn’t it make sense that Ken has so much rage and self-hatred whilst looking physically ‘perfect’, whilst Weird Barbie is more than content despite her body being so physically altered? there’s nothing to suggest that a boxed doll couldn’t exist in Barbieland, but i wonder what that would do to a doll’s psyche...we’re having a real Toy Story moment 😭 hell, we could take this a step further! the emotionally volatile, restrictive, stunted aspects of Ken’s personality could be down to his never having been played with. this could be why our Ken is so insistent that he isn’t allowed to be on a certain part of the beach. this could be why he considers himself ‘fragile’. this could be why Beach Ken wears his emotions on his sleeve and looks visibly more upset than any of the other Kens. self-actualisation was achieved for both Stereotypical Barbie and Weird Barbie because they were thought about, played with, acknowledged...and above all else, Ken craves acknowledgement from Barbie. he ‘only has a good day if Barbie looks at him’. when Ken tells Barbie, ‘I only exist within the warmth of your gaze’...he means it 💔
that’s the idea!! i hope i’m making sense with my ramblings 🙈 fanfic authors, fanartists and theory-makers, feel free to go nuts with this silly little notion...as much as i adore how terrible and arrogant and sexy Patriarchy!Ken is, i would love to see some stuff exploring this angst and him finally getting all the love and attention he deserves 😖💖

Chapter 10: The Aunt
First chapter | Last chapter | Next chapter
Notice/warnings: uncomfortableness, drinks, sad past
▪▪▪
Ambrosius got an invitation to his family gathering.
It's been a while since he's been to one of his family gatherings.
He has a somewhat close relationship with some of the relatives but most of them do not but they are family. He had no choice but to attend their just place and his parents which he hadn't been in a while. He thought that he might be there for just a little bit before heading home.
'I hope it goes well…' he thought as he went over.
He arrives at a huge mansion, a lavish garden statue holding each member who has been the institution and business tycoons that completely looks like a palace or rather a big Palace with eight floors for each family member of each generation.
Though some relatives died to protect the city, some of the rooms would be extra space rooms or guest rooms.
Ambrosius sighed as he went to the door and knocked.
One of the other members, one of his cousins, came and opened the door. “Oh, Ambrosius. You’re here.” his cousin said, looking at him in surprise.
"Hey." Ambrosius said, smiling a bit. "I'm here for the gathering."
His cousin hummed and let him inside.
The inside was pretty huge then his apartment and the madison in comparison.
Of course, the relatives are quite a bit shorter with fewer relatives and a couple newcomers on the way they're mostly rich associates.
Ambrosius looked around as he talked with different relatives.
Some were happy to see him.
Others not so much.
Ambrosius started to have a good time until he saw his parents.
When he saw his parents, the most cruel people he ever knew out of all the relatives.
He felt like his good times happened non-existent not one wanting to get involved. He excused himself.
Ambrosius sighed as he went outside, wanting to be away from the party.
“You’re not enjoying the party?” a voice behind him called out.
He turned around to see Aunt Gloria.
Aunt Gloria looked almost like Glorth, but with wavy dirty blonde shoulder-length hair with half of her hair shaved on the right side with a scarlet red ombre hair dye, blue and green eyes. She had some piercings in her ears and a small red dragon tattoo on her left elbow. She was wearing a hot pink maxi jumpsuit with gold trimming, red flats, a silver necklace with a pendant of a blue diamond, and a black fake leather jacket.
“Oh, hey Aunt Gloria…” Ambrosius said, nodding to her.
"I wonder where you are." Gloria said as she went to him, "Did something get on your nerves recently, kid?"
"Yeah… a lot has been happening…" Ambrosius said, looking down as he remembered what happened in the past few weeks.
"Look, I've been watching the news recently and I did notice a few things including your lover and best friend." Gloria said, looking at him.
Ambrosius sighed and hugged himself. “Yeah…”
"And a pink headed teen?" Gloria said, looking out of the balcony and sighed. "They kind of remind me of my first girlfriend when I was young."
Ambrosius looked at her and asked, “Oh really?”
"I mean, I have been the type of person that didn't agree with that ancestor and wanted to be my own person." Gloria said, playing with her cup of her drink."I mean, at this point, when I hit my teens, I dated a girl that I offended secretly, the girl that can shape-shift."
“Wait… You dated a shapeshifter?” Ambrosius asked, his eyes wide.
“Oh, yeah. She was great” Gloria said, sighing happily as she remembered memories. "Before that, she was a friend, even though we're from different backgrounds. We began having our play dates in secret and even hung out most of the time, and we dated in secret around our teens… That is until..." Then she became silent, which confused Ambrosius.
“Aunt Gloria?” Ambrosius asked, waving a hand in front of her face, getting her attention to get her to look at him.
"Sorry, it's just a train of thought." Gloria said as she began taking a sip of her drink.
"So… What happened?" Ambrosius asked, getting curious.
Gloria almost choked on her drink but was able to swallow it before facing Ambrosius. "Well…" Gloria said, rubbing the back of her neck. "It's complicated."
Ambrosius nodded in understanding, knowing that it was different.
They begin looking at the night sky.
"Beautiful night, is it?" Gloria said, trying to change the subject.
Ambrosius nodded again. “Yeah…”
It was clear that something was on his mind.
Gloria looked at him and asked, "Hey… you ok?"
Ambrosius hugged himself, trying not to cry but failing to. “No…” he answered, crying. “I’m still in shock…”
Gloria started to comfort, her nephew being the more mother figure to him. "I know that it's never easy to move on or to stop reliving a traumatic experience. It’ll feel like you never forgive yourself too." Gloria said, holding him. “But you’ll learn to forgive.”
Those of the encouragement Ambrosius needed to hear. After all, she was the only one out of all of her family members to attend his graduations and other school events.
“Thanks, Aunt Gloria.” Ambrosius said, hugging her back.
When they headed back inside, the party was still going on. “I’m feeling a bit better now.” Ambrosius said, smiling softly. "I'm just glad to see you better." Gloria said, smiling softly at Ambrosius.

I recently started playing Psychonauts and I’m very obsessed with it right now, and it has a g/t level, so naturally, I had to write this short little thing!
Also! I’m still playing through the first game, so this might not be super accurate, I just had to write this down while it was still fresh in my mind. And I’d appreciate it if no one spoils anything that happens after Gloria’s level since that’s where I’m at right now.
See You on the Other Side
It hadn’t even been twenty minutes and the entire town already hated me.
I guess I couldn’t really blame them. Most of the lungfish had been brainwashed, and it didn’t help that I looked like a big scary monster to them. And the fact that I accidentally smashed that orphanage.
Mainly, I had to rely on my shield power to block out the constant attacks. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to stop all the radio broadcasts about how horrible I am.
It seemed like the only solution was for me to face this “Kochamara” head-on. Couldn’t exactly rely on the resistance when their best idea was passing out flyers. Lili, and all the other campers, were counting on me to save them as soon as possible.
So, I used the blimp to boost myself over the dam, and from there, all I had to do was make it to the radio tower. But just as I was walking through the city, I heard something that was almost completely drowned out by the screams of terror and rage from the lungfish.
“Raz!?”
I immediately stopped in my tracks. There was only one person it could be.
Sure enough, when I looked to my left, there was Lili in the window of one of the buildings, conveniently right at my eye level.
Even though I knew the lungfish couldn’t have actually eaten her since Oleander needed her alive to get her brain, it was a major relief to see that she was okay.
“Lili! You’re alive! And… here? How are you here?”
“That overgrown fish monster pulled me into its mind to keep me from escaping. More importantly… why are you a giant?”
All I could do was shrug before I had to put my shield up to deflect another attack.
“Look, all that matters right now is that you’re okay, and now we can get out of here and stop Oleander!”
She glared at me, folding her arms across her chest.
“Um, shouldn’t we resolve this first? You know, you’re not gonna make a very good Psychonaut if you leave someone’s mind a mess like this.”
I let out a nervous chuckle as I looked around at the chaos surrounding us.
“Yeah… you’re right.”
Ugh, stop being cute, Raz. You’re making it hard to stay mad at you.
“Uh… cute?”
“WOULD YOU STOP LISTENING TO MY THOUGHTS??”
I couldn’t really hear much of Lili’s inner dialogue after that, anyway. The sound of the fighter jets circling overhead was my main concern.
Up until that point, I thought it was a good thing that the Lungfishopolis military was highly incompetent. Sure, it was easy to avoid their bullets and bombs, but that also meant the destruction of their own city. And as a result… that put Lili in harm’s way.
It was as if time itself slowed as a bomb dropped from one of the planes. Even if I put my shield up, it would’ve completely demolished the building with Lili inside. Well… her astral projection at least. But if she lost her connection to the mental world, I’d have no way of knowing she was still safe.
Thinking fast, I punched open the window, grabbed her, and held her close as I put my shield back up.
I took cover for as long as I could, then made a run for it to get out of range from the planes. As soon as I was sure the coast was clear, I opened my hands and pulled Lili away from my chest.
“I-I’m sorry, I had to get you out of there. Are you alright?”
To my surprise, she was actually smiling for once.
“You saved me…”
Then, realizing what she just said, she quickly snapped out of it.
“I mean… we’d better get going! That radio tower’s not gonna destroy itself!”
I put her on my shoulder and carefully made my way back to the skyscrapers. The planes for the most part already ended up blowing each other up, but there was one left that just wouldn’t quit. I climbed all the way up the nearest building, and took out the last plane with a PSI-Blast.
“How’d you get so good at that?” Lili asked.
“I kind of sped through Sasha’s training. He was mad about it, but I dunno, I think he’s secretly proud of me.”
She chuckled. “You’re an idiot.”
With all the planes out of commission, I climbed back down and met up with the resistance. They were still mostly unhelpful, but they at least lined up their boats so we could make it across the river.
With the tower in sight, I readied myself to take it down and free the city. But then, Lili yelled out in pain. I let her back onto my hand so I could see what was happening, and I saw that she was fading.
“What’s going on?” I asked.
“I think someone’s trying to pull me out.”
I wanted to believe that it was Sasha or Agent Vodello trying to rescue her, but I had no way of knowing where she was about to end up. And it was likely in that creepy doctor’s office, about to have her brain stolen.
“Is there any way to fight it? I-I don’t wanna get separated again.”
She let out a sigh as she faded further.
“I don’t know… but I’ll be okay. I’m a pretty good psychic myself. Besides… you only just got here and you’ve already learned so much. If there’s anyone who can put a stop to this nightmare… it’s you, Goggalor.”
Yep, she was waiting this entire time to call me that.
“Very funny. I’ll find you as soon as I can, okay?”
Just before she fully faded, she gave a little nod, a content smile on her face. She really had a lot of faith in me, and I wasn’t sure how to feel about it. It was a lot of pressure, but at the same time, I felt like I could do it. Like I could be her hero.
“I’ll see you on the other side, Lili.”
She was already gone at that point, but if she was there, she probably would’ve liked to hear that, anyway.
I didn’t have time to stand around and reflect on that, though. The lungfish had just called in Kochamara, which meant I would have to fight him before I could get to the tower. But as absurd as things get as I travel across the mental plane, I’ll never let myself forget who I’m fighting for.

A Champion Time For The Heart Ch19 Battle Gym Leader Gordie
To say you were in a pretty grumpy mood would be an understatement. You were down right almost angry as you stomped off back towards where you just came from. You were tired. You were cold especially since you tripped over yourself and sat on the ground for a good ten minutes. And you were angry with what just happened. ..Well yeah. You suppose you were a bit out of line for suddenly blowing up on Gordie in front of everyone like that. After all that's what their relationship was programmed to be back in the original game and interfering like you did might have caused you or them some trouble later. But if things persisted like this then it won't matter in the long run since you'd be back home as soon as the main objective of Gloria or Victor becoming the next champion succeeded and so far things were....Well they weren't going totally exactly as they did in the game since originally you'd only need to battle one battle in Circhester and Stow-on-Side then move on and Gloria's been dead set on going after each one and of COURSE it's a lot more hands on and real since this is an actual world now. But so far things were looking good with the progress you were seeing. Gloria had gotten almost all the gym badges thus far, most recently the Ice Type Gym Badge and Victor was currently working on his Rock type gym badge. Things with the rivals Hop and Bede were going as they had did in game, and you think with Marnie too. But you weren't too entirely sure since you hadn't seen her very often. Although her connection to Team Yell was making you concerned a bit. Speaking of which you hadn't seen those guys either for a while now, but you took that as a good sign. Gloria seemed to be making great progress on finishing this world's version of the Curry and Poke Dexes. Sonia's making more breakthroughs. Victor has been pretty chill throughout this entire thing as well despite his lack of enthusiasm to compete. Not to mention you must've done at least all the side quests by now. With the progress being made at this speed you might even be home by the end of the year! Perfect! This was all working out greatly! Although you were a bit frustrated it would be taking so long. As you were walking back towards the cafe you unsurprisingly ran back into Gloria on her way over to meet up with you as the sun was setting making everything around you darker and colder.
With a brighter calmer smiled on her face and a camera around her neck that she gladly held up to you. "Y/n! I found it!"
You took a moment to stare at her before sighing in relief and smiling behind your scarf. "T-T-That's g-great!," you commented stuttering from the cold. "W-Where was-s-s i-it?"
"At the cafe in their lost n' found box!," she responded smiling, "I accidentally left it on the table!" Ah! Probably after she took a picture of the curry Sonia got for you all.
"W-Well l-l-let's get b-back and warm up n-now. I-it's getting dark."
By the time you two got back to the hotel and into your room again it was completely dark outside other than the small lights from the buildings and street lamps around outside. When you got back your Drizzilie hadn't barely moved from his spot curled up on your bed and when you came over he opened his eyes, spotted you, and gave a small chirp in greeting at seeing you before closing his eyes back again. Good to know he acknowledges you. Gloria was relieved to get the lost camera back looking it over before going over to her own bed inspecting it, undamaged thank goodness, before the two of you had actually gone to bed. The blankets were super soft and warm definitely doing their job of keeping you warm from the harsh winter weather outside. So it didn't take long for you to fall asleep. By the time you woke up the next morning you were very reluctant to get out of bed, only spurred on because your Drizzilie kept tapping at your head and making noises to gain your attention probably for more food. So with many tosses and turns and groans and your drizzilie jumping on your stomach...You got up. Glad to find the room was still warm at least, and found Gloria was sitting there eating breakfast most likely from room service as you forced yourself up to your feet.
"Mornin' y/n!", she greeted waving her fork at you. "Saved ya some pancakes!"
You nodded rubbing your eyes with a yawn. "Mmm. *yawn* Thanks. Are you planning on battling Gordie today?"
Gloria nodded beaming. "YEP! And Hop's coming with me for another rematch against him since we both got plans. Although we wanted ta ask ye. Ya mind if we borrow your drizzilie again?''
You paused in the middle of picking up the plate of pancakes left to you and you rose a brow at her. Letting your drizzilie have a chance to grab one of them from the plate and sneak away as you tiredly blinked at her. "Wait what?"
"Can we borrow your pokemon? Water Types have an advantage over Rock types and neither of us have many water types yet. I think we could win if we could borrow your drizzilie."
"....I dunno. Wouldn't he get like really cold out there? And what about Victor? He has lots of water types."
"I thought you'd ask that. Don't worry. Compared to the Ice Type Gym the Rock Gym is actually heated and really warm. So he wouldn't be in any real danger from the cold. PLEASE!! It'd mean a lot ta us. And Vic's just planning on curling up in the stadium seats taking pictures of us since he doesn't want to go anywhere else in ye cold if he can handle it. 'I won a badge 'ere already! That's 'nough for me!'" Oh. So Victor did manage to get a badge yesterday.
"...Where's the guys anyways?"
"In the lobby waitin' for us."
With a sigh you relented. How could you not? After yesterday you weren't feeling up to staying in Circhester for much longer anyhow and if this meant that they'd be able to get the Rock badge then so be it. Plus the stadium was supposed to be heated up and it meant Drizzilie would be perfectly ok just like the last battle it was in. So it worked out for everyone if it meant you would Circhester sooner, which would please Victor too. So everyone did win! Getting him back into his pokeball was easier than when he was a sobble. Back then he'd threaten to cry giving you puppy dog eyes making you back down not wanting to see him cry and experience the tear thing again, but now that he was full of pancakes and laid back down on the bed it was easy for you to sneak your pokeball out of your bag and seal him up before reluctantly handing him back over to Gloria. It would be fine. He would be fine. Gloria took care of him last time and he just evolved was all. Plus both her and Hop were better trainers than you'd give credit for. He'll be fine with them. It took only a few moments for you to shower and throw yourself together before once again throwing on your winter wear and following Gloria out and to the elevator you both went. Taking it down to the lobby and finding it occupied by the two boys you were inspecting. But strangely Hop was the only one of them wearing anything to combat the cold weather since Victor was only there in what were his regular clothes. Odd.
"She agreed to let us use 'em!," Gloria excitedly exclaimed holding up your Drizzilie's pokeball.
Hop suddenly smiled as well before doing a 'yes' pose. "Alright! I have a good feeling about today! We're leaving here today with those rock badges!"
"HECK YA WE ARE!!"
"If you're both done shouting, I have some business that needs to be done," Victor interrupted holding up a piece of paper with words written on it. A list of some kind? "If we're going to leave Circhester soon than we need to get the supplies we need before going back to Hammerlocke."
You paused blinking. "Wait. You all want to go back to Hammerlocke again??"
Gloria nodded. "After we hopefully get the Rock Type badges soon there'll be jus' one more gym to conquer then!"
"....Y'mean you're going back to battle Raihan?"
"Not yet," Hop explained, "If ya remember, Raihan only accepts battles against gym challengers who have all of the other seven required badges first. At the moment Glor n' I only have six and five of the required badges we need before he accepts either of us. Victor's the only one with seven badges so far. The only other gym after the Rock Gym is all the way in this town called Spikemuth. But none of us have been there yet since I need one of these gyms badges."
"And 'm not leavin' 'ere til I at least battle Gordie!," Gloria stated pumped.
Spikemuth...Why did that sound familiar to you?
"There's also no train that runs past Spikemuth," Victor chimed in and you blinked towards him, "It's located on Route Nine and there's two ways we can go. We can either start travelin' ta it from Route Eight leadin' out from Circhester or we can take the train back to Hammerlocke since it's the closest town that has a road leading to Route Nine and from there Spikemuth. And honestly I don't feel like trudging for who know how long and campin' in the snowy mountains!" Well you totally agreed with him on that point. As much as you liked the winters, you didn't think it was good for your Drizzlie and you were itching to leave after- You blinked when Victor held out the list and what looked like a stack of bills to your face. "Which is why I need you to make a run to the grocery store in town and stock up on supplies for us. The sooner we leave prepared the better."
You looked at it for a moment before reaching up and taking them from him. "...Where did you get this money?"
"Gloria pitched in the earnings she received from defeatin' Melony the other day. The list I gave ya is what we'll need for at least half of the trip back to Hammerlocke. If you all need me, I'll be makin' sure our things are packed and watchin' your hopeful victories from the warm bedroom on me phone."
Ah. Well that made sense why Victor wasn't wearing any winter wear. Gloria rolled her eyes but didn't argue or tease her brother thankfully as the three of you left. You wished the two of them luck and asked once again to be careful with your pokemon before they promised and ran off towards the Rock Type Gym and you walked towards one of the buildings from the town square. The grocery store was on the far side of the town connected to one of the other businesses that looked like a barber shop as you entered and thank goodness the inside was a lot warmer than the outside as you sighed and stood for a moment reveling in the warm air before looking around. It looked so much like the small grocery store you visited with Leon back in Postwick, the only difference was that it was bigger and had more packed goods like microwave tv dinners, canned goods, frozen foods, and one shelf just dedicated to hot coco. A few other people were already browsing about so you made a point to not stand in the doorway and grab one of the shopping carts nearby and fished for the shopping list you had pocketed after Victor gave it to you and walked your way around looking for any travel good foods that would last a long time. Unlike Postwick's store it took a bit longer to find them among the aisles. Frozen foods would defrost once you left Circhester and go bad so they were no good. Things like these instant noodles weren't good unless you have a microwave handy or a way to boil water which you didn't on the train. You had to hand it to Victor tho. His traveling must've made him wise in the way of preparations because all the things like jerky like meats, and dried fruits, and granola bars, etc were actually good choices for your travels back right after Hop and Gloria clear the buiness they had here. You just hoped the money from the battles would be enough to allow the four of you to stay in the hotel again if you needed too. It took you a while to find everything four people and a drizzilie for a good long while. You're arms were going to be sore carrying everything back to the hotel for everyone after you buy it. The small cart was at least a quarter full by the time you found everything and pushed the cart up to the poor cashier that bad to scan everything for you to buy and you stood there waiting, and watching boredly as the man took his time scanning the items and bagging them into bags for you.
"Excuse me." You jumped at the older woman's voice coming from right behind you and you turned your head blinking. A lady with long white hair and white winter wear was standing before you with a small calm smile on her face. ....You stared. "I'm sorry to bother you but you look familiar to me. Do I know you?"
AH DARNIT!! Just your luck you had to run into MELONY herself of all people after the fiasco yesterday as she stood before you a few objects for sell in her arms as she patiently stared at you.....You quickly turned away and shook your head. "Nah I don't think so, Ma'am."
"...OH! Wait!" She smiled. "You're that nice lady I bumped into the other day!" Well sh- "So sorry again for knocking you over like that. I hope you didn't hurt yourself any."
.....You sighed and shook your head. "No. Like I said it's fine. And it's not your fault I didn't stop before running into you. Sides I'm fine. So it's all good...Uh...S-Sorry if I kinda went off on your son the other day."
She waved you off. "Don't worry about him. I've heard angry fans and disappointed gym challengers say WAY worse things than the mild scolding you gave him. Don't you worry yourself over him none."
"Oh. Ok...Wait. How did you recognize me?"
"You're wearing the same Scarf and coat." ....Oh. Her blue eyes scanned over the many many items the poor cashier was still scanning and pointed at it. "Planning for a long trip?"
"Uh.." You glanced back at the shopping for a moment. "Y-Yeah actually. My friends and I are hopefully leaving real soon. Tomorrow even if we're lucky."
"Oh my, my. That sounds very quick. .." She smiled brightly. "Well I hope you all have a safe and wonderful trip."
You smiled back to her. "Thanks! I'm sure we will!"
You two stood there making small talk as she patiently stood behind you in line waiting to buy her own items until the cashier was finished scanning and bagging your items as another worker took your cart away. You paid and pocketed what money was left over to give back to Victor once you returned and began gathering all seven heavy bags onto your arms and hands and lifted to slowly carry them all away. The one time you wished Victor would've come with you to help. Bidding good bye to Ms. Melony you slowly made your way out the door you had to kick open with a foot. Slowly but surely with your arms already sore and the cold nipping at you, you made your way back towards the hotel with the snow falling again crunching under your feet. By the time you got back into the hotel, into the elevator, back up to the floor you all were resting on, and walked over to Victor's room (because NO WAY you were handling this by yourself anymore than needed-) your arms were very very sore. Using your foot to knock on the door a moment later Victor opened it and seemed surprised to see you but didn't hesitate to take some of the bags and help you carry them over to where the two of you could divide them evenly between the four of you. Or more like Victor do that as you let your arms and hands have a rest from carrying all the heavy bags by yourself back to him and warm up, but not before making sure you gave Victor back the change you had from the large haul. Things went pretty smoothly after that. You rested as Victor sat down and organized the bags' contents before you after not feeling so sore and cold, joined in to help with him pointing out where to put things and constantly counting and memorizing the equal divide of it. He had a good and calculating eye probably from his photography hobby. There was lots to sort out and bags to throw away by the time Hop and Gloria finally came back from their gym battles....Except Hop wasn't wearing his coat and Gloria was wearing his with her coat bunched up in her arms with your Drizzilie inside. You stared between them and Hop who was shivering and dusting snow off himself.
"What on earth happened to you three?", you asked bewildered.
Gloria sighed before putting your Drizzilie on the floor where she shook her coat off her. "Well. That lil troublemaker of yours threw a tantrum when we tried ta leave the bloody stadium and wouldn't stop runnin' 'round for us ta use the bloody ball on 'em!! N' he wouldn't budge outside. So I had ta use my coat on 'em and then Hop wouldn't let us leave unless I wore his."
"H-H-Hey! I w-was trying to be a gentleman!," Hop stammered.
You groaned. "Ok. Here's what's going to happen." You pointed at your Drizzilie who blinked. "You're gonna lose the stuck up attitude and quite throwing a tantrum when you don't get your way or no more human food! You're not a sobble anymore so that's no excuse for acting like a spoiled baby. If you need to go into your pokeball for safety reasons then you better do it, Mister." Your drizzilie looked at you for a moment before huffing and crossing his arms. "Don't give me that attitude. Other wise I'll put you in there when we leave. And you two." Both paused looking at you as you pointed at Hop. "Take a break and warm up. And I don't want either of you two going out in the cold without a coat again. If he acts up like this again just come get me and I'll deal with him. It's too cold to be going out there without winter clothes."
Hop groaned but sighed. "Fine."
"Good. Now someone call room service. We're all going to take a break and eat. Everyone's had a long day." You paused. ".....Oh wait. How did the battles go?"
"We both got 'em!," Gloria shouted proudly smiling. "...But it was strange tho. Gordie was actin' all strange."
"Really?"
Hop nodded. "Yeah. It was like he was distracted by something. But..Hey! We both won either way right."
Oops. Was that your doing?? ...Oh well. There wasn't anything to be done about it now and no way to be completely sure it was your fault per say since you weren't there to see it yourself. What was important for now was that they both made it back with their badges so the four of you could plan for the next leg of your journey.
"So what's the plan from here?," you asked.
"First thing tomorrow-," Victor stated holding a finger up, "We'll take the evening train out of here. It's too dangerous to travel during the dark of the early day or late night and try to stumble around in the dark. From there we'll head back to Hammerlocke and restock if we need to before heading onto Route Eight." He made a motion with his hand as if he was tracing a map. "There's a fork in the road somewhere along there that splits off into Route Nine. And once we make it past the Tunnel on Route Nine that'll be the half way mark between us and Spikemuth."
Again why did Spikemuth sound so familiar to you?? You nodded either way. "Do we have enough money to stay an extra night here?"
"Between meself n' Hop's winnin's we should," Gloria confirmed.
"Alright. First thing when it's light we'll head out. For now let's focus on getting warmed up and packed away for tomorrow."
You all got packed and ready for the hour long trip you'd have to take just to get back to the station. Victor running down to the lobby real quick and paying for your second night there as well as ordering room service for the five of you as you all made sure the food and belongings were all packed away tightly for the next afternoon. Soon after the sun set and you all retired to your beds after to escape the cold seeping in from the outside. The next morning when the sun rose and the sky grew lighter you all woke back up, fixed the room to look neat before you left(didn't want to come off as rude guests), and with Gloria's help somehow managed to stiff your pokemon snuggly back into the largest pocket on your back pack. You stumbling a bit with the weight a bit having been a bit since you carried him like this. And meeting up back with the guys. From there you both met up with the guys who were already suited up in their winter suits, ready to go. But since the evening train didn't come until around twelve o'clock you all had a few hours of free time. So you swung by Bob's Your Uncle to grab what Gloria refferred to as breakfast curry and hot coco, not that your pokemon minded. Or Gloria as it meant just four..er five when your Drizzlie proceeded to poke your head from his spot inside the bag until you gave in, more curry pictures for her dex challenge. You all ate and chatted, and the two showed you their battles with your Drizzilie against the gym Leader Gordie. You couldn't see the expressions on them very well but they did a good job as did Drizzilie in winning. Although you couldn't help but feel bad for Gordie. You all left the warmth of Bob's Your Uncle when it was ten thirty-ish at Victor's insistence and off the four of you went back into the cold, across town, and back to the entrance into Circhester onto Steamdrift Way again. To go back from where you began. Snow and ice crunched under your all's feet making your group sound like a couple of wooly mammoths trudging through the snow. You all (even you through your scarf covered mouth) could see your breath as snowflakes stuck to your bodies like someone glued white confetti to your clothes as you all followed Victor and his map through the snow. Thank goodness it didn't cover the road up, or else you all might've gotten lost on your way back to the station. As you all trudged alone keeping your hands in your pockets after pulling the ends of the sleeves over them to help keep them warm, you all FINALLY came to the stone bridge you crossed before. A cold river running with cold water ran under it as you all crossed and as you walked over it. Good. This meant you all were at least half way back there.....But there was another problem. A problem that made you all stop and stare at what was there ahead of you..and you groaned when you saw them.
"Oh no. Not THEM."
And by 'them' you meant Team Yell. Of course you had to have a run in with them now. There was a man and woman who were shivering and shaking from the cold, along with another man dressed in blue wearing a mask and blue winter coat, and a turtle looking pokemon. A drednaw if you remember right. What were they doing blocking the bridge to the station!?
"There's no way we're lettin' you anywhere near Spikemuth!," the man shouted at the other man-...Wait...Did he say Spikemuth?? "And that means we can't let you go on Route Nine!"
ROUTE NINE!?!? SPIKEMUTH!?!? You all exchanged looks but it was clear to the four of you that you were all thinking the same thing. And you had a couple questions running through your mind as you again spotted another Marnie Flag being waved by the woman in the poor man's face. ...Either there was WAY more people in this Team Yell than you realized and they were spread out across Galar to stop these Gym Challengers. Or they, Marnie, and Spikemuth were all connected....Buuut the first one seemed to be much more likely. And if that's the case then were these guys following you?? You didn't see any other Gym Challengers other than Hop and Gloria here at the moment. Either way you were starting to get really ticked at these guys' antics.
"It's Team Yell's duty to cheer on these lovely drednaw!," the girl shouted, "And we also get to stop people from headin' out over the water!"
So THAT'S it! Those two were intentionally blocking the bridge so no one could pass over it. The man sighed. "Yes. I understand. All I'm saying is that I can make it so that Rotom bikes can ride on the water." It was then he seemed to sense more people because he twisted his head to the four of you and a flash of realization crossed his face. "Why we meet again my young Gym Challenger friend! Remember me? I gave you that bike. So do you think you could do me a favor and teach these ruffians a lesson or two?"
"....You got a bike??"
Gloria shrugged. "He gave my Rotom a code that could change it into a portable bike, but I haven't used it since I never felt the need ta." She then snapped a scowl to the Team Yell grunts who noticed the lot of you by now too. "But it looks like we got other things ta deal with now! Eh Hop?"
Hop nodded. "Yeah! I remember you guys from when Victor n' I ran into them in Bellonlea! They're a real pain in the neck!"
"It's our duty to protect drednaw!," the man shouted pointing a hand at you all, "And that means yer gonna need to give up on the Gym Challenge!"
"Over my bloody frozen tooth chatterin' self I will!!," Gloria shouted back.
"You look like you need convincin' so how about a pokemon battle!?"
"You're so on ya Mr. Mime Wannabes! Hop n' I will wipe the bridge with ya n' your mate!"
"Ill send you packin'! For the sake of drednaw of course!"
"I'd like ta see ya try ya slackers!!"
"What'd you call us!?"
You groaned! You already felt a headache coming on that you didn't even stop yourself from walking right up to them as Gloria and Him kept trash talking one another before the man they were previously hackling blinked as you walked up to him from the sidelines, then past him watching, then up to the man rockstar wannabe, before you struck. He wasn't expecting it when you latched onto the front of his small jacket so suddenly making him jump and then yelp as you YANKED him down to be eye level with your scowling face cutting him off mid yell. Making everyone jump or blink at you as you scowled at the guy.
"You know what!? I'm getting REALLY tired of your antics, Mister!," you growled right in his face. Didn't matter if he was taller than you. This entire situation was ridiculous. He jumped as your other hand pointed at his face. "You are a literal grown man and woman hassling a bunch of kids and any other person here! What's your problem!? It's colder than a pokemon's darn ice beam out here and you two aren't smart enough to wear warmer clothes?! At least if you're gonna do something THINK it through!? Now you listen to me and you all listen good! I have three kids and a water type pokemon I want to get to warmer places and you're stopping that. You know what that means? It means if any of them catches a cold I will PERSONALLY go to the ends of the earth, find you all, and then MAKE you pay for what they need to get better. So you know what I'm gonna do?" The man gulped as his companion stared too shocked to move. "I'm going to...Ask you nicely to move." You let him go and by how fast he pulled away he nearly fell back onto his bum as he stepped back away from you as you sighed. "...*ahem*...Will you both PLEASE let us pass? It'd mean a lot." .....They both looked at each other silently, as if not entirely sure what to make of your tone switch,...before they both stepped to the right letting you all go through. "Thank you!"
"I...I wanna go back to Spikemuth. I really do," the woman mumbled and you laser focused on that.....So they WERE from Spikemuth!?
"GAH!" You all jumped when her male companion shouted. "She's gonna ride the drednaw! ..Oi! I got an idea! We can get on drednaw first and ride it away!"
"All right! Get a move on, Drednaw!," the woman shouted. Said pokemon let out a garbled sorta grunt and crawled it's way over to the frozen river. You all watched bewildered as both of them walked right behind the pokemon as it got into the frozen water and then jumped onto it's floating exposed shell of it's back. "See ya later, Gym Challenger!"
You all still stared....until you looked at one another......What the HECK just happened just now!? "Seems you've come to my aid yet again." You blinked and turned your head to the man who was talking to Gloria. "How's the cycling life been treating you? Are you having fun? Wouldn't it be great if you could ride your rotom bike on the water too?"
He didn't have to say more to catch her interest. "Really!?"
"That's why I'm going to add these special parts allowing it to travel along the water's surface just for you! As a thanks for everything you've done to help me."
"W-Well hurry it up and get o-on with it!," Victor stammered out rubbing at his sides. "It's nearly noon n' I d-don't want to stay here for m-much longer!"
You were...still in a bit of a shock as was everyone else about what just happened...Oh Well at least that was taken care of. The man gave Gloria the upgrade you guessed. It just looked like they were texting each other right in front of each other for a couple moments before Victor after tapping his foot and shaking through the entire process, pushed you all to leave. You did after the man again thanked you and Gloria thanked him for the upgrade she apparently received. So you all continued to walk and walk, until you finally reached the end of the road that lead to the stone steps of the station that looked more like an abandoned building without any walls attached to the support beams. You all were a bit early so it was a little bit of a waiting process as you stood for a good ten or so minutes with Victor grumbling the entire time before at LAST, the blast of a train horn and rumble of tracks signaled the arrival of the evening train leaving Circhester as with metal on metal scraping sounds. It stopped right in front of you all. Victor being the first to literally run onto it followed by his twin and best friend, and then you. It took no time at all to find some seats for you to sit at and ten minutes later, the train pulled from the station. Thus began your group's long, LONG trip back to Hammerlocke. Just like your trip Circhester, you all slept on the emptied seats at night but being more prepared Victor had set up his Rotom phone's gps to set off an alarm once the lot of you reached the likes of the station you wanted so you all wouldn't have to take turns staying up all night again to keep an eye out for the right station you wanted. Which was a great idea! Over the next few days you all fell into that repeated pattern minus taking turns staying up at night and during the day just talking about random things while eating food from your rations or looking at whatever the teens pulled up from the internet to show you. A few more days went by this way until one day Victor all of a sudden said you all should stop at the next town to restock up on food again since it wasn't as much as he thought it was. To which everyone agreed too and at the next town, got off the train and went into one of the random stops which turned out to be a small town like Postwick. From there the four of you gathered supplies and did everything else to prepare to travel again by the time the next train came around before getting back on it and back on your way to Hammerlocke. Day in and night out you four traveled and traveled and traveled. You were starting to get train sick with how much this was going on and found yourself walking up and down the walkways in turns with the others to keep up the exercise and not let yourselves turn your legs to jelly. Until one particular night when you woke up to Gloria shaking your shoulder roughly to wake you.
"Y/n! WAKE UP!! WE'RE HERE!!"
"W-What?!" you were barely able to get up and rub at your eyes as they all pulled and yanked you up to your feet as you were just starting to wake up. You of course stumbled with your Drizzilie on your tail as he practically ran after the lot of you as all three kids pushed your tired bum off the train and back into the Hammerlocke train station. They ended up having to place you down in one of the train station's cafe resturaunt's chairs and let your brain fully wake up. By the time you did your stomach was already growling from the smell of curry being made in the cafe next to you. ".....Where are we? *yawn* And what time is it?"
"We're back in Hammerlocke," Victor said deadpanned, "And it's actually pretty early in the morning since we got here on the morning train. We wanna restock as soon as possible before leaving. If we head out now we can start to make good distance. It'll take us a good while to get there by foot."
"Yeah. But before that, let's get some of this curry for breakfast!," Hop suggested pointing over at the cafe. "I'm starvin' and we'll need all the rations we can for the trip."
That was one idea of Hop's you totally agreed on! So the four of you briefly paused. Gloria going to do what you all did before and use her rotom to drain one of the vending machines since Hammerlocke had no grocery store, Hop and you ordered the food, and Victor went over to help Gloria gather everything. They returned not too long after while you were waiting for the chefs to make your food and with the four of you working together, you quickly divided the food(and kept a close eye on your drizzilie who attempted to swipe some of it for himself again-) and stuffed them away into your bags before the food arrived. This time you decided to go with a different kind of curry and ordered one of the ones with the giant eggs like you earnt at the Hulbury cafe. As soon as your drizzilie saw it he gave an excited chirp sound, looked at you, and like a toddler made a grabby hand motion at it. It was cute. He must've remembered you getting a dish similar to this too since he seemed so eager for you to hand over the giant egg on it, but not before letting Gloria take some pictures of the variety of curries you all ordered. From that point you were going to try and ordered a variety of curries if you all ever ate at cafes again to get her more of those curries she needed for her book. Your dizzilie was ecstatic when you plucked the egg off your own plate and handed it over to his awaiting hands. Watching as he was big enough now to shove the entire thing in his mouth. Must've been as hungry as the rest of you. It was still fairly dark out being early in the morning but it was starting to become lighter as you all busied yourselves. Victor again explaining where you would go using the gps on his rotomi phone. You were still unsure how to feel about the entire thing with Team Yell and Marnie somehow being related to one another and somehow it all seemed familiar to you for some unknown reason but this was the only way to beat the game so you could go home. There's wasn't any choice so you were going to take it. Soon after eating you all paid for your food with Hop leaving a small tip on the table, excited the station(you hoping you wouldn't run into Raihan-), making your way to the exit that lead to Route Eight (to your relief no Raihan-), and slowly but surely started your long journey to Spikemuth and Route Nine. Hopefully there wouldn't be any trouble ahead.

THE MAJOR ARCANA
@diadxrling said: [THE SUN] and [JUDGMENT] for the secretaries
[THE SUN] - What makes them feel good? This can be happy, energized, revitalized, etc. It's all about good vibes, so what gives them to your muse?
Money. No, but seriously, Ava is a very materialistic person and the one thing that always makes her feel better, without fail, is spending her money on herself. She's worth it after all.
Bonnie always feels better after a tough workout session. She's health-conscious and finds time to exercise every day not only to keep in shape, but because she genuinely likes it.
After Candy gets home from work after a particularly long day is curl up on the couch with her queef, Coco, and watch trashy television. But what helps makes her feel good is taking the time for some self-care. She has lots of DIY "self-care" packages stored away to one she can take a day to pamper herself and it does help make her feel refreshed.
Evelyn feels most at peace when she's working on an art project. It gives her a sense of purpose and allows her creativity to flow. She's happiest when she's alone in her room with an easel in front of her and palette of paint beside her.
For Gloria, it's watching films. While her favorite genre are mysteries and or thrillers, she will watch other films if they capture her interest and that includes modern ones. She does like to set aside nights on the weekends to go to the cinema and catch the latest flick that isn't porn yftdkkdttddtk
Pretty much a combination of shopping, getting likes and compliments on her selfies, pampering herself, etc. Basically anything that has to do with having people just acknowledge her and stroke her ego makes her happy lol.
What makes Rosette happiest is spending quality time with her children. She spends so many hours of the day (and sometimes nights) at the hospital that she rarely ever sees her kids. But there are days she just wants some downtime to herself. During which, she likes to curl with a good book and hot cocoa and spend the day as leisurely as possible.
[JUDGMENT] - What was an epiphany/awakening they recently had? Did they realize something that they've been naive to? Did they discover something about themselves? What happened?
She recently discovered that she isn't as much of a frigid bitch as she likes to believe she is. She'll claim that she only thing she cares about is money but she has grown to care about one of the other secretaries to the point she is a little protective of her.
Bonnie has finally accepted that it's perfectly okay for her to dress femininely or be femme-presenting whenever she feels like it. Even if she feels that people don't expect it from her. Yeah, she likes her pantsuits that make her feel handsome, but sometimes, she just wants to wear a really pretty dress and put on makeup even though she feels like she doesn't have the body-type for it.
Candy is currently in the process of realizing that sometimes she does need a break from well...Everything and that's it okay to take some time for herself. She's not a machine and she deserves time to recuperate.
Evelyn is starting to look back at her childhood and wonder if her adoptive parents actually see her as a daughter....or a glorified pet. She's beginning to realize that her parents pretty much controlled every aspect of her life since her adoption and they still try to control her life through her adulthood. She's still trying to process it.
That everything was rigged against her from the start. She came to Hollywood to write films and be acknowledged for her work, but she realized that day was never going to come. Even if her screenplay got made into a film she was never going to get credit for her hard work. Life isn't fair and neither is the afterlife apparently. She's gotten used to it by now.
She's known it deep down for a long time but she's just recently come to terms with the fact that her family just straight up does not give a fuck about her. She's tried so hard to get their attention in any way possible and it just. Never worked. Now, she's getting the attention she craves through social media and whatever other ways she can.

Diamond In The Rough Ch2 Applying
(In case anyone needs to know what pokemon reader has in the story here they are. Silver Veil: Shiny Drizzlie and boy. Zen: Zangoose and boy. Sparky: Rotomi and boy. Also apologies if this chapter is short. This serves as more of a time filler and explanation of what happens between ch1 and 3.)
Another day. Another beautiful day. Now that all the danger's past, so much has happened. You finally got the chance to relax from traveling around so much happened in these last five months. Leon won the Champion Cup and retained his Champion title, Victor and Gloria were starting their apprenticeships under the gym leaders, Hop was starting his own apprenticeship with Sonia, Sonia became the new residential professor, the world's safe from power hungry dunderheads, and you didn't have to travel for anymore hair brained reasons....
So what now?
You had continued your small part time job working for Mr. Frederick and renting out the basement room at Mrs. L's house. It was a peaceful life taking care of Silver and Zen and working in the nice summer weather and being around people who liked you enough for you to consider friends and family. It was nice to live in a small town like Postwick where everyone knew one another and life was laid back here where most of the people around here were farmers or pokemon Shepards for herds of wooloo or other similar pokemon. But you still had to wonder. The question had been on your mind ever since you realized you wouldn't be able to go back home after all. What were you going to do now? Your mind had pondered on that question for a good while even during your trip to stop the weird hair twins. You guessed you could travel around to your heart's content, but you were tired of traveling and you liked Galar with your friends here, so going to other regions was out of the question for now. Now what about now? You were content for now just working and living peacefully in Postwick but it was never a long term thing. You just-...Weren't sure what you wanted to do yet is all. Maybe get a house somewhere and settle down? That sounded nice. Just you and your two pokemon living a peaceful life how you wanted. Ironically this same question was brought up in a conversation with both Sonia and Leon during one of the famous Champion's rare visits to his small home in Postwick. He had shown up coincidentally while you were working along with Sonia and met up with the both of you surprisingly without getting lost. Joining the convo you and Sonia were already having. The subject coming around to Sonia's recent work and Leon's Champion duties and then Sonia had asked you the question that'd been on your mind lately.
"So what are you planning on doing, Y/n?"
That made you pause from behind the counter and stare at her for a moment. "What do you mean?"
"Well you mentioned you weren't planning on leaving Galar. Have you thought about what you want to do here?"
And you went quiet as you blankly stared at the both of them for a second...before shaking your head. "To be perfectly honest, I have no idea. I mean I obviously don't plan on staying with this job forever or living in Leon's mom's basement, but I'm not too sure what I'll do or where I'll go. Haven't had a lot of time to really think about that part of my life with everything that's happened over the last year and a half. Now that thing's have slowed down, I haven't really thought of anything yet."
"Oh really?," Sonia aske genuinely surprised, "Nothing at all? Like there isn't any hobbies or careers you'd really like to pursue?"
Now THAT was a question you had an answer for! You perked up with a sudden smile. "Oh! I do actually...But it's kinda silly-"
"No it's not. Tell us."
"Well...I've always had an interest in baking but I couldn't ever really practice it since I never had enough time to myself to pursue it." You sighed. "And it's not like I could here."
Postwick was a nice small town and all, but there wasn't any need for any bakeries or such considering everyone here was used to growing and cooking their own foods, and it wasn't like you could take any cooking classes. The only thing around here was the local school Hop currently attended on top of being taught by Sonia. Poor Hop was putting in a lot of work but he seemed perfectly happy with how his tutoring was going so far. But again Postwick being a small farming community in the middle of no where didn't have any colleges or anywhere you could take lessons, and you doubted Galar did have anywhere you could-
"No...But you could send an online application to C.U. and see if they accept you." Both you and Sonia turned to Leon after he finally decided to give his two cents and you were confused.
"C.U. what?"
"Circhestor University," he explained further holding up a finger, "My grandparents were there! In fact that's where they met! It's a pretty fantastic place with plenty of courses to chose from including everything from languages to cooking classes!"
"Oh right. I forgot about that," Sonia added holding her head in one hand, "C.U. was closed down last year due to the gym challenge but the year's starting up again in August two months from now."
"Uh. I hate to interrupt-," you butted in making the two look at you, "-but there's no way I could afford that. Plus I'm not sure if I want to spend anymore time traveling or sitting in a class room for another few years-"
"Oh. The standard graduating course only takes two years to complete."
A record scratch went off in your head. "....Say WHAT?"
Leon nodded. "Oh yeah. It was so easy even I could do it...Of course it was hard since I often got lost around campus, and had to take a lot of extra credit and make up classes because of my Champion duties and sometimes I had to take online classes and had to have Sonia tutor me-"
"The point is", Sonia spoke up raising a hand interrupting Leon's rambles. "-the Standard Course is something everyone can take for a degree and get it. There's three courses you can take. The Standard Course is the most taken one and covers most of the basics of any career and everything you need to know, and it takes just two years to complete. The Advanced Courses are for more difficult jobs or if you want to know more about certain subjects that takes longer to learn. Those Courses usually take anywhere from four to six years depending on the subjects and courses you chose. And then there's the Ultra Courses which is usually taken by people who want careers like a Professor or nurse or doctor or even a lawyer or something along those lines. They usually take the longest and is the one I personally took right after my gym challenge. Anything Granny didn't teach me I learnt by myself or at C.U."
"Why didn't I hear of this when we were in Circhestor last year?"
Sonia shrugged. "Well to be honest we were all a bit focused on different things, and the college always closes when the gym challenge comes along to make sure classes aren't disturbed by the ground shaking caused by dynamaxed battles."
Ah. That made sense. You suppose it would be very annoying to try to take or teach a class when anything can suddenly shake at any moment of the day.
"That does sound nice....But there's no way I could afford it-"
"Actually it's not as expensive as you think. It's sort of like renting," Sonia explained motioning with her hands. "You have to pay twenty dollars per book along with all the pencils, notebooks, and other supplies you need, and you just have to pay five hundred dollars a month for classes, as well as two hundred dollars a month for the dorm room you stay in."
You stared at her for a long moment before your draw dropped. REALLY!? THAT MUCH!? I mean-..It still wasn't cheap by any means but that was still WAY cheaper than the college back in your world!!
"That sounds incredible!....But...there's still no way I could afford it even if I worked three full time jobs a day-"
"Actually-" Both of you looked to Leon who smiled again widely at you. "That's one of the reasons why I'm here! I nearly forgot when we got caught up talking." he turned to you with that wide smile. "I came here with an official statement from Chairwoman Dahlia! She wants to repay you officially for saving me back in Hammerlocke as well for helping to stop Galar from doom!...Twice! I'm sure if you ask she'll give you a full scholarship for everything! I mean it is the least we could do for all the trouble you went through."
"Wha- Lee, I can't just accept a full ride through two years worth of college no matter how much trouble I might've went through. Besides doesn't she have other concerning matters to deal with?"
"It's ok to accept others help, Y/n, but I'll respect your choice. Just think it over, I think it'd be a good opportunity for you! Sonia can contact me if you ever change your mind and I can run it to the Chairwoman."
Well it certainly seemed like an enticing idea! After all that's what you were planning to do anyways back in your home world, except you were going for a business degree because that's what your mother found 'acceptable and right', which would take anyone usually four years to complete. But You could graduate from a typical college here for a course of two years? It sounded really nice and to be honest the thought of getting a college degree here was enticing a lot. You didn't have anything else going on for you right now and maybe getting a degree now and getting that bakery you've always wanted would be a good idea! The more you thought about it the more and MORE you liked it until you finally agreed to let Sonia help you fill out an online application two weeks later. You ran into a problem first hand when part of the requirements of filling out said application was a poke-mail and a phone number. You had neither until Sonia, being the life savior she was, took time to grab a spare rotomi from a rotomi box for the phone you won at the Xmas fair last year, and helped guide you through the process of making said pok-e-mail and number. Then it was finally time to fill out the form including your Birth Region, current address, name, which course you were applying for (Standard Course-), etc. Except you ran into a small problem fairly quickly.
"Ok. It also says we need to add your hometown along with your birth region?," Sonia said before smiling up at you from her keyboard. "Which town did you say you were from again?"
You froze again. Uh oh....OH NO!! ALL THE 'UH OH's IN THE WORLD COULDN'T COMPARE TO THIS NOW!! You had completely forgotten about this! What were you supposed to say!? You couldn't even remember much about the Kalos Region much less a town smack dab in the middle of it- But then...The most unusual thing happened. It was like your mouth wasn't yours for a moment because before you said something your brain hadn't even commanded it to say. It was like someone possessed your voice for a moment because before you knew it, your mouth said something you didn't even know.
"Vaniville Town."
You stopped and stood there shocked but Sonia only smiled and typed the name of the town into her computer. "Ok. And we're done with the application part. Now we only have to fill in which course you're looking for and what classes you want to attend. Have you decided what you wanted to do?" You still stood there shocked until Sonia looked at you confused. "Uh..Y/n?"
You jumped. "Ah! Wha- OH! Right! Uh- Standard Course. Yeah. T-That's what I want!"
"Ok. And which classes did you want to take? The Standard Course has all your standard classes hence the name 'Standard' Course. How it works is that you can pick as many classes as you want, but in order to apply you need to at least pick up to five or six of the listed options total. Here. Let me show you your option!" She scrolled down under the listed courses after choosing the Standard Course option of the courses, and showed you the many listed classes you could chose. All she had to do was click the blue checkmarks by the ones you wanted to take before sending the filled out application to be approved by the college officials. "There's ten classes available so the most you'd have to pick out of them are just five or six. If you don't like any of the ones you initially pick first year, you can pick entirely new classes your second year with your second year application."
You blinked at her. "SECOND year application?"
She nodded. "There's usually a lot of students to take into account so say you wanted to take one of the Advance Courses that's four years long. You'd have to send in an application you'll be taking your second year of that course you applied for, then for your third year, and then again for your last year. It let's them know you're going to keep attending so they can keep you in the database until you graduate or decide to drop out. If you fail to send in an application for the start of any year they'll take it as your dropping out and remove you from the program entirely. Despite being a small college they take attendance very seriously. You also have to receive a new student ID card for each year as well or else you won't be able to have access to a few things like being able to borrow library books or the student discounts on food in the cafeteria. So don't forget your Pok-E-mail address or phone number. You'll need them again to fill out your application for your second year."
You nodded mentally taking notes and keeping track of all of what Sonia told you. It was a lot to remember but so far it was quite easy to follow. A lot easier than your world's version of college requirements. Sonia scooched her chair aside and allowed you to lean over to take a look at all of the listed classes available for your first year of your two year course. All of them were listed one after another: Science and Culture, History, Languages and Writing, Arts, Home Ec, Math, P.E., Battle Studies, Health and Medical, and Pokemon Care. Ten classes and you only had to pick five or six of them at the very least in order to apply but you could pick more-
You pointed at the screen with a smile- "Mark all of them!"
Sonia blinked to you wildly. "Wait. What!? Y/n you realize that's ten classes PER DAY you'd have to take then if you pick every single one of them right? That's a lot for your first year of college. Maybe even a little too much. Don't you think?"
You shook your head. You were so used to juggling school and jobs from your old world anyways. You could handle ten classes a day. "Nope! You said I could pick as many classes as I want right?"
"I- Well yes but-"
"Then I want to take all of them! I want to learn as much as I can and that includes all of these. I'm confident that I want to take all of these for sure!"
Sonia continued to stare at you for a moment before sighing and turning back to her computer. "Alright. It's your call, but don't say I didn't worn you if it becomes too much."
"Sonia, I've literally had to juggle odd jobs and school throughout most of my childhood, and taking classes sound a lot easier than trying to save the world."
"Hm. Fair enough point, but I'm just saying don't expect things to be a cake walk."
"Trust me. I'm not expecting it to be."
With all the classes selected and the application filled out Sonia went ahead and hit the send button, sending off the application. Whelp. No going back now. But there was still one problem. This didn't guarantee your application would be accepted, not by a longshot. There was going to be a chance you'd be denied and if that was the case then you'd figure something else out or apply again next year. On the bright side you got a cute lil rotom out of the situation you named Sparky! He was certainly energetic and loved to chatter. It was nice talking to him when you had nothing else to do between working and helping Mrs. L out around the house while waiting for Sonia to give you any updates to that pok-e-mail you sent off. She promised to inform both you and Leon so you can get that scholarship offered to you if and when you got accepted but what you hadn't expect was for her to literally bust in while you were restocking some shelves. The door practically flew off it's hinges with how hard the door was thrown open by Hop with a beaming smile on his face.
"Y/N!!," he shouted at the top of his lungs making you squeal and drop the box of thankfully unbreakable bottles of water to the floor as he ran up to you excitedly. "I CAME OVER HERE AS FAST AS I COULD!! YOU WON'T BELIEVE THE GOOD NEWS!!"
"Hop! What are you-"
"YOUR POKE-MAIL GOT A RESPONSE FROM THE DIRECTOR OF C.U.!!"
You stopped shocked. "WHAT!?"
"Leon personally sent them a letter of recommendation as well as the Chairwoman granting you your scholarship for your services to Galar! And that's not all! The Director heard all about how you helped Mr. Gordie stop those rampaging dynamax pokemon months ago. YOU'VE BEEN PERSONALLY ACCPETED BY HIM TO ATTEND C.U. OUT OF GRATITUDE!!"

PokeFair Select Scout (3.5 Anniversary)
Free ticket for a PokeFair, woo! I feel kinda bad though, because like...not all of these options have an expansion and that's throwing me. Anyway, six champions are up for grabs, and you may be wondering which one to pull for with your free selection. I love that it's free.
CYNTHIA I'm starting with Cynthia because if you've been around a bit, you may have heard things about her recent grid expansions. They are, in fact, for real. But I want to clear this up quickly. The expansions are good, but Cynthia lives and dies by the level of investment granted. At 1/5, Cynthia is an astonishingly weak sync pair, having virtually nothing in her favor. Self-setup is difficult, she's wildly reliant on Ingo, has one of the weakest sync nukes in the game without her multipliers, and has pretty poor DPS that is split in CS due to the AoE effect. All of this is an atrocity. If you're pulling Cynthia here for 1/5, it should be with the understanding that you are going to candy, or are desperately waiting for a focus like Lodge to feature her.
That said, if you're thinking of pulling her for upgrades, 2/5 and 4/5 aren't entirely worth it, but 3/5 and 5/5 absolutely are. Cynthia's 2/5 grid offers 50% multipliers, with move damage being on-type only, and her sync nuke relying on Sandstorm like most of her kit. She does get Surging Sand 2, but it's pretty meh. 3/5 is when she gets Haymaker for the full sync nuke performance that put her on the map, as well as Fierce Entry 1, which can help cap her attack independently. 4/5 gives Dust Kicker, which is helpful for her DPS builds by ensuring Sandstorm after each sync, but it won't last through her next sync, so she's still reliant on another weather setter. She also gets Crit Strike 9 on Slash, which...check the numbers. It's actually really strong. But it's 5/5 where her grid is complete, and she acquires Sand Alert 5, which doubles the length of Sandstorm. The 5/5 kit gives Cynthia complete self-sufficiency for Sandstorm and buffing in one grid, losing almost nothing in the exchange. But, this is also a 5/5 investment. If you're willing to pair her with Ingo, or with Bertha/H!Caitlin, then 3/5 is a perfectly fine solution as well. Her full sync investment is present, and can actually be stronger than her 5/5 if you take the sync damage nodes. But anything below 3/5 is fairly hard to justify, because she's going to be wildly outclassed.
STEVEN I cannot BELIEVE this man doesn't have a grid expansion yet. It's ridiculous. Without it, Steven is very hard to justify picking up, especially with Gloria about to pop off in two days. Her expansion is nothing short of ridiculous when it comes to damage numbers. Steven, comparatively, lacks for sync and move damage. This in spite of having Haymaker at 1/5. His main utility, then, is Aggravation on his 3/5 grid. Which...man, plenty of things have flinch rate. That's hardly worth it. The sad news is, I can't sincerely recommend Steven right now. Yes, his expansion will happen, probably sooner than we think, but without knowing what it does, it's hard to say where the boundaries lie. The only situation in which I think it's worth it to take him is when you're 2/5 and aiming for 3/5. You get Aggravation, and are set up for at least one of his expansions.
LANCE On Masters Day this month, Lance will receive his grid expansions. Both of them. At the same time. And they're really good! He gets a nice multiplier for sync and DPS, and finally gets excellent setup tools for self-buffing. But. This is only at 5/5. His 3/5 grid can help with crit rate, and gives the multipliers, but the whole physical sync/special DPS thing makes Lance fairly hard to shop for. 5/5 is fairly necessary just to manage his needs effectively. Worse, Lance did not get Pinpoint Entry 1 on his grid, and Hyper Beam is 90 accuracy. The only solutions are a 10 energy tile to make it 100 accuracy, or bringing accuracy buffing support, which is really rare and hard to justify.
Lance's expansion is good, don't get me wrong. But it's also got some limitations that make me hesitant. I cannot recommend him at anything less than 3/5. Hyper Beam isn't bad damage there, but his inability to buff anything makes him so wildly support reliant as to be borderline unusable offensively. He exists for Potion support until 3/5, when he can at least handle the crit rate. But much like Cynthia, he's a "Better the higher he goes" unit, and if you're just looking to get that first copy of something, probably best to look elsewhere.
ALDER Alder is similar to Lance, in that his primary thing is Hyper Beam DPS. But Alder is better than Lance, because his sync is special, and his self-setup is immaculate. Alder can function at 1/5. Hyper Beam is that strong, and his setup is natural to his kit. In fact, Alder's weird in that 3/5 doesn't always help, because multipliers are based on the foe's special attack behind lowered, and that's really hard to accomplish. He can kinda do it himself, but there's nothing in his kit that seriously helps that debuff process via attacking. I would say Alder's big moments to shine are 1/5, and 4/5. 2/5 adds almost nothing to his kit, and 3/5 has difficult multipliers to utilize without very specific team support that often can't be slotted in. 4/5 is when he gets Dismay and Furious Brain, which sets up his old multiplier well, and gives another free 30% move damage, making his Hyper Beam incredibly strong. While 5/5 offers Impervious to offset the sharp defense drop of his trainer move, this is only situationally useful, and can be hard to acquire around other desired tools.
The main reason not to take Alder is competition. SC Emmet and SS Hilbert are just better. In like. Every way. SC Emmet's Megahorn is ridiculously strong, and his sync is far stronger than Alder's with less hassle. Hilbert not only has better DPS and sync by default, but nice team support in Metal Sound, and the coveted Rebuff effect. Alder is fairly hard to justify compared to these two.
DIANTHA Diantha is, primarily, a DPS machine that relies on being able to mega evolve. The problem with Diantha is that, unlike Alder there, Moonblast being 4-bar doesn't measure up to Hyper Beam's damage. Her saving grace is the +50% move damage on mega evolution, which requires first sync. Diantha's sync is also...there's been better. Even at 3/5, her multiplier is the same as Alder's, reliant on the awkward special attack debuffing. Diantha's grid expansions are...useful, but they're also limited to self-sufficiency rather than power. 4/5 grid has most of the utility tools in Satisfied Snicker and Recharging Strike, turning Dazzling Gleam into a perfect debuffing/gauge control move in CS. 5/5 mostly just adds Propulsion on Trainer Move to fast-ramp to her DPS.
I'd say each step for Diantha has some utility, with even 2/5 getting her Speedy Entry for better gauge control. But Diantha's also never reaching any kind of crescendo like Cynthia did, where her power just explodes. She remains solid and gets a little more self-sufficient, but her major issues remain. In single-target matches, Recharging Strike is limited. Moonblast's DPS is reliant on her taking first sync, removing a lot of potential partners as options. Her gauge control is still fairly poor even with the Speedy Entry thing. And her ability to self-buff is massively limited, taking considerable time and being largely relying on allies. Diantha just retains some concerns that don't get entirely alleviated. I'd say she's good because Fairy-type, being one of the best sources of DPS in the type. But also if you have NY!Lisia she might legitimately be better.
CHAMPION IRIS Champion Iris is a long-standing favorite of mine. The obvious goal is 3/5, where the full sync nuke arrives. At present, there is no 5/5 grid. The question then is, if you're not getting 3/5, is there a reason to get Iris?
Kinda sorta. Her debuffing kit has aged a bit, but chip damage with -2 in a chosen offensive stat is not a bad effect. Adding in Piercing Gaze to ensure she never misses her attacks is also a delight. At 1/5, she fulfills the role of a debuffer for partners really well. Alder and Diantha up there needed special attack debuffing, and Iris is a perfect partner to accomplish that. Perfect accuracy with debuffs also makes her a premiere Latias counter for Gauntlet purposes.
But Iris also faces a ton of issues. Her self-setup is remarkably poor, mirroring Leon's pathetic performance. Her flinch rate doesn't get Aggravation, which is brutal for utility sets. Like Diantha, her gauge control is really bad once the acceleration effect from trainer move wears off. Iris requires a lot of support to accomplish her goals, and at lower move levels, is pretty much just utility. Decent utility, but not overwhelming utility. I still think she's worth it, but you know. Limitations.
Final Thoughts If you're looking to pick up a new tool at 1/5, I'd say Iris has the most utility, while Diantha or Alder are the best for offense. Bug and Fairy damage is fairly rare, and if you didn't pick up one of the other premium options, they're respectable damage dealers when their weaknesses are accounted for. Otherwise, Iris' debuffs are very reliable and efficient for specific multipliers.
If you're looking to upgrade, pretty much everyone is useless at 2/5. The only things truly worth noting are Diantha's Speedy Entry for gauge control, and Lance gets Double Potion MPR.
At 3/5, everyone's major kits open up. Iris becomes a fantastic sync nuke for Gauntlet, but is otherwise in an over-saturated type and takes too long to set up for it without Ghetsis support in CS. Diantha and Alder get their sync nukes, but it's really difficult to set up well, and relies on specific team support to accomplish. Steven gets Aggravation and Aggravation only. Lance and Cynthia get their much-needed multipliers, but retain some difficulty with self-setup. At this point, it's really a matter of what type of damage you most need covered. More than likely, Fairy, Bug, or Ground are what's missing, so Diantha, Alder, and Cynthia are best picks for this, as Dragon and Steel are types covered by F2P tools like Solgaleo and Cyrus/Zinniquaza.
Of the grid expansions, Diantha and Alder are justifiable for 4/5. Diantha gets her debuff and gauge control, while Alder gets an entry debuff and another multiplier on his DPS. These are great tools if you want to power up a favorite, but 3/5 can suffice in most situations. Cynthia and Lance are not worth 4/5, but are worth 5/5. The upgrade they get to self-sufficiency is tremendous, and opens a lot of team composition options for them. Oddly, Diantha and Alder really do not benefit from 5/5 due to energy constraints.

We know for sure that Gloria misses the old days of being just "the other woman" and enjoying her life and limited time with Michael, spent mostly banging eachother around, with no responsibilities or expectations upon her. The question is: does Michael miss it a little too? Is he nostalgic for when Gloria was an escape from everyday life, an outlet, something different?
I imagine Gloria bored and annoyed at how her relationship with Michael has become, I wonder if she will come to confront him about the issue or if she will make him understand it with no words, like having fun with someone else not too secretly with the aim of getting caught and making Michael jealous and annoyed.... it would be exciting to see Michael get angry, lose patience and finally decide to please her, but just to keep her good one evening because obviously it can't be the same as before, now her role has changed.
I love this question so much! Gloria and Michael are so messy and dysfunctional, it’s so fun to dissect them with stuff like this🖤 I’m putting most of it under the cut because I got long-winded with this.
Gloria’s definitely unhappy with being pushed into the housewife role, domesticated for lack of a better word lol. The whole reason she went to Las Vegas to work in the first place was to avoid that in New York. She just wanted to be irresponsible and party for as long as she reasonably could. She never would have expected the summation of her actions resulting in marrying Michael, but it's not like either of them ever thought Kay would end things the way she did.
As for Michael, my reasoning for why he’d cheat on Kay in the first place is an ego thing at the heart of it. Yeah, Gloria's young and pretty, but her asking about the magazine article is the catalyst for his interest in her because it’s not something people have spoken to him about in a long time. With her he can kind of be that "promising young war hero" again.
By the time the affair actually starts, he knows Gloria’s not going to spread his business or directly interfere with his relationship with Kay. She just wants to have a good time, and at first, he does too, but he gets more attached than she does (which is why he “ends things” like 3 times in the first year of the affair. I went into that more here, but it's just messy)
I’ve been playing around with the idea of something happening between Gloria and Ciro because there’s a lot of tension there. However, she actually likes Ciro and considers him one of her few friends (even if he only has anything to do with her because of Michael) If she did cheat on Michael, it’d be with someone she has like no emotional investment in partly for spite and also because he'd probably kill whoever it was when he inevitably found out because he has eyes everywhere.
I think Gloria's kind of scared of Michael as a husband. The first chapter of the fic goes into this, but with that title he can do pretty much whatever he wants to her compared to when they were just fucking around. Like yeah he was technically her boss, but there were other places in Vegas she could work or even skip town if it became an issue. Would he kill her for cheating? No. But he could make her life even more hellish than she already finds it, and she’s not sure she wants to push it, especially since she really doesn't have an out (I didn't know this until recently, but no-fault divorce didn't become an option in New York until 2010!)
Ultimately, she'd think her best option would be to intentionally and very obviously flirt with someone in front of him to get some kind of excitement back, but it's not like he'd tolerate that for very long. If they do have a conversation about it, they'll still be dysfunctional as hell.

Chapter Nine: The Who, My Generation (Decca, 1965) | Written by Pete Townshend
THIS IS A SONG THAT DOES NO FAVORS FOR anyone, and casts doubt on everything.
In this song, people are trying to slap you around, slap you in the face, vilify you. They're rude and slam you down, take cheap shots. They don't like you because you pull out all the stops and go for broke. You put your heart and soul into everything and shoot the works, because you got energy and strength and purpose. Because you're so inspired they put the whammy on, they're allergic to you, and they have hard feelings. Just your very presence repels them. They give you frosty looks and they've had enough of you, and there's a million others just like you, multiplying every day.
You're in an exclusive club, and you're advertising yourself. You're blabbing about your age group, of which you're a high-ranking member. You can't conceal your conceit, and you're snobbish and snooty about it. You're not trying to drop a big bombshell or cause a scandal, you're just waving a flag, and you don't want anyone to comprehend what you're saying or embrace it, or even try to take it all in. You're looking down your nose at society and you have no use for it. You're hoping to croak before senility sets in. You don't want to be ancient and decrepit, no thank you. I'll kick the bucket before that happens. You're looking at the world mortified by the hopelessness of it all.
In reality, you're an eighty-year-old man, being wheeled around in a home for the elderly, and the nurses are getting on your nerves. You say why don't you all just fade away. You're in your second childhood, can't get a word out without stumbling and dribbling. You haven't any aspirations to live in a fool's paradise, you're not looking forward to that, and you've got your fingers crossed that you don't. Knock on wood. You'll give up the ghost first.
You're talking about your generation, sermonizing, giving a discourse.
Straight talk, eyeball to eyeball.
TODAY IT IS COMMONPLACE to stream a movie directly to your phone. So, when you are watching Gloria Swanson as faded movie star Norma Desmond proclaim from the palm of your hand, "I am big, it's the pictures that got small," it contains layers of irony that writer/director Billy Wilder could never have imagined. Of course, someone streaming something to their phone is most likely watching something even shorter and faster paced on TikTok, certainly not anything in black and white with a running time of 110 minutes.
Every generation gets to pick and choose what they want from the generations that came before with the same arrogance and ego-driven self-importance that the previous generations had when they picked the bones of the ones before them. Pete Townshend was born in 1945, which puts him at the front end of the baby boomer generation, born right after the Second World War ended. The generation who fathered Pete and the rest of the boomers has been called the Greatest Generation -- not a self-congratulatory term at all.
It might be helpful to take a moment and define terms for just a bit. What exactly is a generation? Currently, the common definition is the period of time that the statistically largest portion of the population born within a thirty-year period is in control of the zeitgeist. Recently, we have entered a new phase, where anyone entering the age of twenty-two as of 2019 is now a member of Generation Z. While people make jokes about millennials, that group is now old news, as obsolete as all of the previous generations -- the baby boomers, Gen X, the Fragile Generation, the Intermediates, the Neutrals, the Dependable, the Unshaken and the Clean Slate.
Marlon Brando, Like Elvis Presley, Little Richard, and the first wave of rockers, fell somewhere between the greatest generation ever and the baby boomers; too young to fight against the Nazis, too old to go to Woodstock. Yet when Brando replied, "Whaddya got?" when a local girl asked him what he was rebelling against in the movie The Wild One, it set the stage for the sixties and the rebellion against the picture-perfect prefab communities the boys came home from the war to build.
Like a lot of boomers, Pete seems to have a chip on his shoulder in this song. But he's not totally confident, he's somewhat back on his heels. There's a certain defensiveness. He knows people put him down just because he gets around. Perhaps he feels like he will never measure up or he knows they resent his generation's newly abundant leisure time. He wishes they would just disappear, fade away. He hopes he dies before he gets old and is replaced like he is replacing them. Pete can't even point the finger himself, he depends on his mouthpiece Roger to hurt the invective. The fear is perhaps the most honest thing about the song. We all rail at the previous generation but somehow know it's only a matter of time until we will become them ourselves.
Pete would probably be the first to tell you. He has a front-row seat for the history of his generation. He could read the picket signs against hatred and war. Well, that certainly ended that, thank you for your service. Each generation seems to have the arrogance of ignorance, opting to throw out what has gone before instead of building on the past. And they have no use for someone like Pete offering the wisdom of his experience, telling them what he has learned on the similar paths he has trod. And if he'd had the audacity to do so, there's every chance that person would have looked up at Pete and told him that he couldn't see him, he couldn't hear him.
And that gave Pete another idea.

please call me turtle!! tw for ncsa csa DID
i've recently started watching this show called The Crowded Room (which is phenomenal and deserves more attention) but in one scene the therapist//Rya, explains that split personality disorder is a result from prolonged childhood sexual abuse. and it had me thinking of my own experiences: I was sexually harrased when I was 10 years old and can remember locking the memory up, I honest to god remember thinking "throw that memory away" and I did. only reason I know now is because of EMDR therapy.
I experienced ncsa for majority of my childhood, teen years, and young adult years. but, I barely remember the conversations and can genuinely just not remember it happened at all. when I'd speak with these people I remember acting as though I were, and excuse my term, but a bimbo. I'd purposefully dumb myself down and act more radical or sexually driven. other times I'd act extremely meek and inexperienced depending on who I spoke with.
even now when I do talk about what happened, I instead use more advanced diction and take on a clinical tone of voice. these have mostly been in therapy session and it's come to the point where my therapist and I have named this version of me: Gloria. Additionally, I can't remember most of my sessions despite attending them for nearly a year. I'm aware they happened, but I don't remember majority of them at all. and I guess I just wonder if I do have dissociative identity disorder or am just missing these gaps of time because of trauma. I don't feel like I do but who knows.
Hi anon,
I'm so sorry to hear about what you've been through. Please know you're not alone.
There's a common misconception that in order to have DID you must have endured CSA. While CSA can absolutely lead to DID, what gives people trauma is subjective. Some people can be traumatized by things others aren't, and some people may even develop DID in situations where others may not. Suffice to say, there are more causes of DID than CSA.
It sounds like you've been a few things that could be explained by having a dissociative disorder, such as not remembering previous therapy sessions and changing the way you speak when you discuss your trauma. While this could suggest being plural, it's important to ultimately leave this jurisdiction up to you and your therapist. Not only does your therapist likely have a more informed assessment of you than us, but you also know yourself best.
I wish you the best of luck in exploring yourself and determining whether or not you may have a dissociative disorder, as well as healing from your trauma. I hope I could help and please let us know if you need anything.

Sam Smith says they were “spat at” on the street for being non-binary
Sam Smith has opened up about the difference in how they’ve been treated as a non-binary person in the U.K. vs. the U.S. On a recent episode of Apple Music podcast The Zane Lowe Show, the English singer revealed that they had been spat at in the street in their home country. Host Lowe asked about Smith’s experience since coming out as non-binary in 2019. Smith, whose new album Gloria is out now, said that their personal life has been filled with joy, fulfillment, and support. “Since changing my pronouns, it’s felt like a coming home,” they said. “I wish I knew what the words were when I was in school, because I would have identified as that in school… It is who I am and it’s who I’ve always been.” Their life in the public eye has been a different story, however. “The amount of hate and s**tness that came my way was just exhausting and it was really hard,” they explained. “This isn’t me, like, sitting at home googling my name and seeing things.” “I can deal with not googling myself, not reading comments. That’s something I can control,” they continued. “What people don’t realize with trans non-binary people in the U.K. is it’s happening in the street. I’m being abused in the street verbally, more than I ever have.” “So that was the hardest part, I think, was being at home in the UK and, like, having people shout at me in the street,” Smith said. “Someone spat at me in the street, it was crazy.” Smith said they worry about how much worse younger LGBTQ+ people have it. “If that’s happening to me and I’m famous – I’m a pop star – can you imagine what other kids, like queer kids, are feeling? It’s just so sad, like, that we’re in 2023 and it’s still happening. Especially in England.” While the U.S has seen a wave of anti-transgender legislation recently, the U.K. has its own particular streak of virulent anti-trans sentiment—perhaps most famously epitomized by Harry Potter author JK Rowling. “It’s been crazy to, like, be in New York and L.A., because I feel like I can dress and be myself more in these cities than I can at home. That’s a wild feeling because America’s a complex place.” Smith recently sang at the White House ceremony celebrating President Joe Biden’s signing of the Respect for Marriage Act. They recalled what it felt like to hear the president talk about seeing and acknowledging the dignity and rights of trans people. “We need to challenge the hundreds of callous and cynical laws introduced in the states targeting transgender children,” Biden said in his remarks at the December 13, 2022, event. “We have to protect these children so they know they are loved and that we will stand up for them and so they can seek for themselves.” “I haven’t heard that in my own country from a politician,” Smith said. http://dlvr.it/ShY52D

Love Doesn't Do Encores Ch19 Battle Gym Leader Gordie
Gloria had gotten almost all the gym badges thus far, most recently the Ice Type Gym Badge. Victor has been pretty chill throughout this entire thing as well.
Probably after he took a picture of the curry Sonia got for you all.
Wouldn't he get like really cold out there?"
"I thought you'd ask that. Don't worry. Compared to the Ice Type Gym the Rock Gym is actually heated and really warm. So he wouldn't be in any real danger from the cold. PLEASE!! It'd mean a lot ta us."
"...Where's the guy's anyways?"
"In the loby waitin' for us."
We can either start travelin' ta it from Route Eight leadin' out from Circhester or we can take the train back to Hammerlocke since it's the closest town that has has a road leading to Route Nine and from there Spikemuth.
Unlike Postwick's store it took a bit longer to find them among the ailes.
Oops. Was that your doing?? ...Oh well. There wasn't anything to be done about it now and no way to be completely sure it was your fault persay since you weren't there to see it yourself.
So you swung by Bob's Your Uncle to grab what Gloria refused to as breakfast curry and hot coco, not that your pokemon minded. You all left the warmth of Bob's Your Uncle when it was ten thirty-sh at Victor's inssistance and off the four of you went back into the cold, across town, and back to the entrance into Circhester onto Steamdrift Way again.
You already felt a headache coming on that you didn't even stop yourself from walking right up to them as Gloria and Him kept trash talking one another before the man they were previously hackling blinked as you walked up to him from the sidelines, then past him watching, then up to the man rockstar wannabe, before you striked.
As soon as your drizzilie say it he gave an excited chirp sound, looked at you, and like a toddler made a grabby hand motion at it. Your dizzilie was estatic when you plucked the egg off your own plate and handed it over to his awaiting hands.

If you know me at all, then you know that I am not one to partake in nor instigate drama on this site. Or in general, really.
That being said, this is not drama. This is something very serious that I have seen lesser-known creators get vilified and run off this site for, while this repeated offender (which, I will admit, I have defended in the past in part as a symptom of my previously close relationship with them, and my natural inclination to always give the accused the benefit of the doubt) has received no criticism nor any calls for accountability. That changes today.
This is about plagiarism.
For context: three days ago, I posted about the backstory of my Batverse OC, Lorna Lovestrange. It was then quickly followed by an edit, detailing all of Lorna's many incarnations throughout Batman filmography, starting with The Dark Knight Trilogy, and ending with the most recently released film, The Batman. As you can see, both of Maddonica's accounts were tagged in this: randomestfandoms-ocs and ocfanhub.
Yesterday, a friend of mine who was a part of the same OC Discord sent me this screenshot:
Their concern was justified. If you read the two instances side by side, you will notice not one, but four similarities:
Jonathan Crane's experimentation on them with the fear toxin doing irreparable damage to the psyche
Violent outbursts
A history of being committed to Arkham
A close connection to Bruce Wayne (in the DCEU, Lorna's mother was Bruce's close friend, making Lorna his goddaughter. In other iterations, Lorna is often just his childhood friend)
If it had been just one or maybe even two of these things, I would've been fine. But this is four.
The timing also seemed particularly strange, as not only two days after having posted about Lorna, this is the "new OC idea" being pitched.
When privately confronted, Maddie feigned ignorance and innocence. They claimed they "hadn't seen [my] posts" or "anything on Lorna recently". I tried to take this with a grain of salt, but the longer I thought about it, the more it made no sense.
Not only were they tagged on two separate blogs, but even if they had missed the initial posts, they had been reblogged by fellow mutuals. The likelihood of them having not seen these posts, and then having an idea this similar not two days later is slim to none. I gave them the opportunity to admit their wrongs, but all they did was offer to change their OC and continue to lie about having not seen it. What are the chances we had the exact same idea at the exact same time?
The plagiarism I could've forgiven, because I genuinely do believe they would've changed the OC's backstory based on my discomfort. They are not a bad person. I truly believe that. What I cannot forgive is the lying.
When reading up on the same situation that had happened to Gloria, the "apology" rang awfully similar. Feigning you did not know just doesn't fly anymore if it's a repeated offence. This is a pattern. And it needs to be broken.
This is not an invitation to send hate. I do not condone that. Please do not attack this person. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.
#contact me privately for more information#this is all i will say about this#this is not okay#and i hope that there is enough awareness to stop this from happening again
