To fully grasp the current situation in San Francisco, where venture capitalists are trying to take control of City Hall, you must listen to Balaji Srinivasan. Before you do, steel yourself for what’s to come: A normal person could easily mistake his rambling train wrecks of thought for a crackpot’s ravings, but influential Silicon Valley billionaires regard him as a genius.
…
“What I’m really calling for is something like tech Zionism,” he said, after comparing his movement to those started by the biblical Abraham, Jesus Christ, Joseph Smith (founder of Mormonism), Theodor Herzl (“spiritual father” of the state of Israel), and Lee Kuan Yew (former authoritarian ruler of Singapore). Balaji then revealed his shocking ideas for a tech-governed city where citizens loyal to tech companies would form a new political tribe clad in gray t-shirts. “And if you see another Gray on the street … you do the nod,” he said, during a four-hour talk on the Moment of Zen podcast. “You’re a fellow Gray.”
…
“A huge win would be a Gray Pride parade with 50,000 Grays,” said Srinivasan. “That would start to say: ‘Whose streets? Our streets!’ You have the A.I. Flying Spaghetti Monster. You have the Bitcoin parade. You have the drones flying overhead in formation.... You have bubbling genetic experiments on beakers.… You have the police at the Gray Pride parade. They’re flying the Anduril drones …”
…
Those who try to downplay Balaji’s importance in Silicon Valley often portray him as a “clown.” But Donald Trump taught us that clowns can be dangerous, especially those with proximity to influence and power. In the nearly 11 years since his secession speech at Y Combinator, Balaji’s politics have become even more stridently authoritarian and extremist, yet he remains a celebrated figure in key circles.
…
Increasingly, Tan has also pursued another key Network State goal: attacking journalists. Balaji portrays the press, especially The New York Times, as the chief enemy of the Network State ideology. He accuses the venerable paper of upholding something called “Woke Capital.”
…
“So long as you aren’t running a corporation based on hereditary nepotism where the current guy running the show inherits the company from his father’s father’s father’s father, you’re more diverse and democratic than the owners of The New York Times Company. You don’t need to take lectures from them, from anyone in their employ, or really from anyone in their social circle—which includes all establishment journalists.”
…
“Do not hire PR,” tweeted Balaji on April 4, days after Tan’s P.R.-wrangled Times profile. “They want to ‘train’ you to talk to journos. But journos hate you! So this is an obsolete model. Instead, just hire influencers. Build your own channel. And go direct.”

Thoughts on the finale
I liked this season much more than the first one (which I love, btw).
Some things felt a bit rushed but I know that's because a show like The rings of power needs more than 8 eps to tell its stories but that's how what the entrainment system does now. They did very good with the time they had.
I cried, I laughed, I screamed...
Duran and Disa need to rest. It has not been an easy season for them! But I'm excited to see what will happen next season. And Durin and Elrond need to meet again and talk.
Celebrimbor and Sauron's scenes were the highlights of the season and I'm so sad Charles is leaving. Also give this man a couple of awards. He deserves it
We didn't see much of Numenors's and Elendil/Isildur's in the finale but what we saw was good. Elendil like Aragorn. We're going to Meet Anarion next season. Isildur is coming home. And poor Eärien she was just trying to easy her pain and save her father.
Elrond is me, I'm Elrond. This broke me.
Watching the destruction of Eregion was painful but expected.
Adar, my beloved. You will be missed... I can't express how much.
I love them. This is everything I wanted for them... And they delivered. I will be talking about this for years...
Gandalf!!! Brief note. Gandalf and Nori's relationship is so sweet and tender.
Galadriel got engaged, again.
Arondir joined the big girls club now and I'm so here for this! You don't understand how much I love him, and how much I crave for a friendship between him and Galadriel. Also loved the moment where Gil-galad was there trying to formulate a plan and he was like 'Cool, cool, but Commander, what do YOU think we should do?'

May sir blutpop drop thy Prussia hc's?(:3)l<=
fine.
gilbert masterpost (subject to change)
- transmasc, has top surgery but couldnt be bothered with bottom surgery (blood is cool what can i say)
- hes bisexual and demisexual
- has a beat up early 90's bmw with mismatched doors and hood and lights held together by ductape. does not do anything to actually fix it because its too much money, but he'd fix up literally any other car?? the interior is actually pretty comfy though, the front is leather while the back is just a fucking sofa bolted into the floor. however, it's surprisingly clean
- finds fixing up cars to be really fun but only actually does it for roderich and ludwig
- is The Rizzler™️ when he's not trying. when he is trying, he just... becomes a total boyfail. -2847188 aura
- surprisingly chivalrous
- dresses alt in public, dresses like a dad at home
- formal clothes are gender but suits get so uncomfy for him after... 10 minutes.
- so into leather. he will wear a strap outside. almost always wears chokers
- hes also very picky about belts and chokers. it cannot be any of that cheap shit or he will explode
- speaking of dads, he birthed ludwig on roderich's couch (he came over and just sat there and gave birth. like a goddamn cat. it traumatised austria). also nursed ludwig for about two years at roderichs place bc its comfy and obvi she'll spend tonnes of money on him
- bbq king he would literally take shots of bbq sauce just to disgust people while he grills up the most top tier steak
- again on the topic of dads, breaking the chain is really hard. daddy issue havers where u at
- takes germany fishing. has tried to take austria but she hates it because she gets seasick
- also takes ludwig hunting. roderich actually likes this and comes along sometimes
- will sometimes blast the classical beef albums by codec just to make roderich angry (gil genuienly likes the albums tho)
- unfortunate lightweight but will drink past his limit (and vomit)
- had very questionable ideals in the past (obviously hes PRUSSIA) but is actually pretty good in the present-day
- his rizz at roderich was being homo/transphobic /hj
- common hc but his first crush was hungary. this really instilled that internalised homophobia in him at a young age </3
- really possessive and protective of roderich but he tries to suppress it so hard
- i forgot to mention kugelmugel. thats their cat he and austria found on the side of the road (jk)
- kugel, or as i call them: ballboy, just sorta happened. idk how honestly i havent thought that far ahead but they live with gil and rod
- ludwig has his own house bc hes cool but when gilbert comes over he just insists on staying in the basement. ludwig has tried to get him into a guest room but he wouldnt budge he just loves the basement
- now. the hc youve been waiting for: music. scorpions, rammstein, even some modern talking on a bad day... def leppard, led zeppelin, the smiths, metallica, cannibal corpse, pitbull, rob zombie, creed, stone temple pilots, linkin park, van halen, duran duran, mötley crüe... you get the idea? oh and codec obvi but specifically classical beef i and ii

LUCY & THE CRIMINALS
Lucy’s Encounters with the Criminal Underworld ~ Part 3
Lucycoms introduced crime stories to keep plotlines exciting and contemporary. Here’s a look at the thieves, burglars, robbers, murderers, prowlers, second-story men, mobsters, forgers, counterfeitters, and con artists in the Lucyverse!
“Lucy’s Impossible Mission” (1968) ~ In this parody of “Mission: Impossible” (a Desilu / Paramount production), Lucy Carter fights international espionage in the persons of Mulhill Omar (Tim Herbert) and Ambassador Korlik of the Slobtoni Embassy (Joseph Ruskin).
“Guess Who Owes Lucy $23.50?” (1968) ~ It’s Van Johnson! Or is it? Lucy loans the film star money to fix his car – but the man turns out to be a con-man posing as Johnson.
“Lucy and the Ex-Con” (1969) ~ The Unique Employment Agency sends Rocky (Wally Cox), a reformed safe cracker, on an assignment as a janitor. When the place is robbed, Rocky is the number one suspect. Disguised as old ladies, Lucy and Rocky go undercover to catch the real crook...
...Doc Morgan (Bruce Gordon). Morgan is nicknamed Doc because he uses a stethoscope when safe cracking. Bruce Gordon had played mobster Frank Nitti on Desilu’s “The Untouchables” (1959-63).
“Lucy and the Great Airport Chase” (1969) ~ Filmed on location at Los Angeles International Airport, Lucy and Harry elude dangerous spies Enemy Agent Yang (Larry Duran) and Enemy Agent Kurt (Sid Haig).
“A Date for Lucy” (1969) ~ Caesar Romero plays jewel thief Tony Rivera, Lucy’s date for a soiree at which he plans to steal the gems of a wealthy dowager. After Rivera is knocked out cold, Lady Warren (Barbara Morrison) discovers she’s been robbed. When Lucy tells her who it was, she can’t believe it.
“He’s so charming! He’s so handsome! He looks just like Cesar Romero!”
“Lucy Gets Her Man” (1969) ~ Harry’s old Army buddy is working in Counter-Intelligence and needs a stenographer to help get the goods on suspected spy Arthur Vermillion (Victor Buono). Naturally, Lucy gets the assignment. Isabel (Mary Wickes) calls Harry Jack the Ripper, comparing him to the famous London serial killer.
Lucille Ball and Victor Buono were both featured in “Like Hep!”, a Dinah Shore special that aired a few months after this episode. In it, Ball did a variety of sketches, including one set in a speakeasy with Buono as a mob boss. On television, Buono is probably best remembered for playing King Tut, one of the arch villains on “Batman” (1966-68).
“Lucy’s Burglar Alarm” (1969) ~ When Lucy and the kids are robbed and Harry refuses to fund a $500 burglar alarm, Craig comes up with an elaborate home alarm system. Guy Marks plays the well-dressed crook.
“Lucy and Viv Visit Tijuana” (1970) ~ On a sightseeing trip to Mexico, Harry is convinced by shopkeeper / smuggler Pedro (Don Diamond) to transport a stuffed animal over the border, claiming it is for his 3 year-old niece living in Los Angeles. Stopped at the border, they discover it actually contains contraband.
“Lucy and Wally Cox” (1970) ~ Lucy and Wally are assigned to be security guards at a warehouse, where they encounter armed robbers Lefty Logan (X Brands) and Baby Face Johnson (Gil Perkins).
“Lucy and Ma Parker” (1970) ~ When a woman and two children mysteriously move in next door, Lucy discovers that they're a band of criminals led by Ma Parker (Carole Cook). Her cohorts are little people dressed as archetypal children: Herman Golub (Billy Curtis) is dressed as Buster Brown, and Milton / Mildred (Jerry Maren) is dressed as Shirley Temple.
Lucy is recruited to impersonate Ma Parker and help nab dangerous Chicago mobsters Muggsy (Boyd ‘Red’ Morgan) and Joe Grapefruit (Marc Lawrence).
The title character is a parody of Kate 'Ma' Barker (inset), the mother of several criminals who ran the Barker gang in the 1930s. She traveled with her sons during their criminal careers.
“Lucy and Harry’s Italian Bombshell” (1971) ~ When Lucy and Kim sleep at the office, they encounter a burglar (Herbie Faye). Instead of robbing them, the he actually gives Kim and Lucy five dollars!
“Lucy and Mannix are Held Hostage” (1971) ~ Mannix (Mike Connors) and Lucy are taken hostage by Vernon (John Doucette) and Ruby (Marc Lawrence).
“Lucy and the Candid Camera” (1971) ~ Allen Funt, host of TV’s “Candid Camera”, plays himself and his con-man doppelganger.
As the con-man, he convinces the Carters to rob a fur salon, then a bank - all under the impression they are pranks for the TV show.
“Lucy and the Little Old Lady” (1971) ~ When Mrs. Brady, a kindly widow from out of town (Helen Hayes), comes to the Unique Employment Agency looking for a part-time job, Kim becomes suspicious that she may be running a con game so they plan to hold a fake séance to expose her. The character Hayes plays here capitalizes on her Oscar-winning role of Ada Quonsett in Airport (1970), a sweet little old lady who cons the airlines and stows away to get free air travel. On “Here’s Lucy” the plot relies on the premise that Mrs. Brady could be a con artist.
“Lucy and the Reckless Wheelchair Driver” (1972) ~ Hickey, a show business agent (Jesse White), tries to sue Lucy for hitting his client with her wheelchair. Lucy and Harry think the young man is faking and that the agent is a con artist.
“Dirty Gertie” (1972) ~ In this story based on A Pocketful of Miracles, Lucy is mistaken for an apple peddler who just happens to be the good luck charm of Rocky (Bruce Gordon), a mob boss. The police recruit Lucy to help capture the mobster in his own nightclub. Johnny Silver plays Benny, one of Rocky’s mob.
Other mobsters include ‘Moose’ Murdock (John Harmon) and ‘Numbers’ Smith (Ed Hall).
“My Fair Buzzi” (1972) ~ Kim’s shy and awkward friend Annie Whipple (Ruth Buzzi) comes out of her shell in order to audition for a 1920s revue in which Harry plays a mobster named ‘Big Jake’.
“Lucy Goes To Prison” (1973) ~ Lucy goes undercover as a convict to get information out of bank robber Mumsie Westcott (Elsa Lanchester).
“Lucy Plays Cops and Robbers” (1973) ~ Lucy forms a neighborhood watch group and starts seeing criminals where there are none. After several false alarms to the local police, a real burglar (Gino Conforti) actually shows up!
“Lucy the Sheriff” (1974) ~ Lucy finds out that her grandmother was the first woman sheriff of a Montana town that is celebrating its centennial. She is asked to play her grandmother at the celebrations, which include the recreation of a bank robbery. Lucy is enjoying playing lawmaker until Jake (Cliff Osmond) and Rusty (John Craig), a couple of genuine robbers, interrupt the celebration and take her hostage!

Probably Dance The Night by Dua Lipa. The release of the Barbie movie completely swept me by my feet, since me and my closer friends are all collectors...I even cosplayed for the opening night. You can check the post on our group Tumblr here: https://ecerdolls.tumblr.com/
Another great song that represents my 2023 would be Palco by Gilberto Gil. This year was my graduation from the Theatre course at Federal University here in Brazil and, despite my class choosing "Dog days are over" by Florence, I feel like Gilberto Gil's song is way more like me and my history.
Suedehead by Morrissey reminds me a lot of my recent trip to Rio de Janeiro this summer. I listened to it most of the time in the car going downtown.
To finish, Padam Padam by Kylie Minogue, just because this month I've been listening to it everyday.
*also Shelter by Duran Duran but I listen to it all the time every year so whats new about it? 😌🤌🏻
big question. what is your song of the year so far? the one you listened to most, the one that touched you the most, or for any reason. for me its where do we go now? by gracie abrams 🌟

5 times peter slept where he shouldn’t (ao3) - punkybunny T, 13k
Summary: (+ 1 time Tony did!)
Peter has a tendency to fall sleep in places that he probably shouldn’t be sleeping in, whether he means to or not. Cue Tony, who is becoming increasing distressed as he tries to keep his kid safe and get him to finally sleep in an actual bed.
25 days of thena and gilgamesh (ao3) - Bright_Boisterous_Bananas gilgamesh/thena M, 5k
Summary: A collection of Drabbles for Thena and Gilgamesh!

a barton surprise (ao3) - Delena_Stark clint/laura, pepper/tony G, 5k
Summary: Requested by Droth “Maybe one where Peter is Tony’s 12 year old biological son. Peter has to go with Tony to the Barton farm, and he ends up hanging out with the older Barton kids.”
barnes family motors, inc. (ao3) - phlintandsteel bucky/tony E, 68k
Summary: In a world where alphas legally own omegas, Bucky is just a small time mechanic from Brooklyn who gets lucky in a poker game. Tony is an omega whose life is fraught with abuse, until his luck suddenly takes a turn for the better.
In the grand scheme of things they may only be able to make little differences in the lives of those around them, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth making them. After all, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
bucky barnes got married (ao3) - 27dragons, monobuu, tisfan bucky/tony M, 90k
Summary: Bucky married Tony when they were both teenagers. Tony had just lost his parents and Bucky had just lost his arm, and they thought sticking together was the best choice they could make. Now, twenty years later, Bucky fears that he’s lost Tony’s love and is wondering if they made the wrong choice, after all. More than anything, he wishes that he could go back in time and try again, but that’s just a fantasy… or is it?
Don't Bet With Nick Fury (ao3) - Westgate (Harkpad) clint/phil T, 1k
Summary: Phil loses a bit to Nick, and the payoff is more than annoying than a Duran Duran song from the 80s. He and Clint have to go to his High School reunion. It's a little bit Grosse Pointe Blank, it's a little bit badass Phil. Clint thinks the whole night is a success.
five times pepper potts took care of tony stark (and one time tony stark took care of her) (ao3) - zauberer_sirin pepper/tony T, 5k
Summary: In Pepper’s defense she really did try to keep things professional.
Four (Or Five) Reasons for Kidnapping Tony Stark (ao3) - scifigrl47 steve/tony, clint/phil T, 78k
Summary: There are four reasons for kidnapping Tony Stark. Tony's sick of all of them. Well, there's potentially a fifth, but it's highly unlikely that Captain America will suddenly fulfill THAT fantasy. Tony's deeply disappointed about that.
Steve Rogers, as always, is oblivious. At least, that is, until someone who isn't him kidnaps Tony. Then he's just pissed.
gamora, you’re a fine girl (ao3) - Meraki_fics gamora/peter G, 4k
Summary: Gamora has never been good at emotions, being raised by a genocidal maniac does that to a person. Emotions are a weakness, at least that’s how Thanos raised his borrowed children. Emotions were not something she ever spent time on or paid any attention to. However, in her new home with her new family, emotions were something to be aware of.
Gilgamesh and Makkari's no good, very bad week (ao3) - IIIIFANDOMiii druig/makkari G, 13k
Summary: "Please don't drop me" Gil hadn't really put two and two together when he asked Makkari to take him to the Bazaar. Yes, she's the fastest being in the universe, yes she can definitely carry him no problem but no, he's not sure if he can survive being carried around while she casually breaks the sound barrier.
or A three day shopping trip turned into a race against time for Gilgamesh, after a Deviant attack left Makkari deathly injured miles away from home.
A quick fic I wrote for my own needs since I wanted to write a relationship between Gilgamesh and Makkari since they barely interacted during the movie :')
peggy carter is a howling commando (ao3) - The_Marauders_Daughter steve/peggy M, 19k
Summary: It’s 1944, and Hydra is giving the SSR a very hard time. Sometimes Captain America isn’t enough for a mission. Sometimes what the mission needs is Peggy Carter.
peter’s stars (ao3) - IronPengu, parkrstark steve/tony T, 175k
Summary: Steve and Peter lose their apartment and are kicked out on the streets. Steve has to juggle between jobs to earn whatever money he can, take care of his son while resfusing to let him realize how much they’re trouble in, and keep them warm and safe on the city streets in winter.
So, he really doesn’t have time to date the billionaire that flirts with him everyday as he buys his cup of coffee. Even if he did, he can’t let himself fall for the man. Because if he knew that he lived from a backpack and showered in a public bathroom there’s no way he’d still want him…right?
The First Time Phil Stayed (ao3) - AdamantSteve clint/phil M, 2k
Summary: Phil finally stays the night. Clint is determined to make it worth his while.
The Immortal Hawkeye (ao3) - copperbadge clint/bucky, background steve/tony T, 8k
Summary: Clint's a little older than he looks, and his DNA has a few surprises in store, too.
the one where clint is wanda’s weakness (ao3) - JinxQuickfoot T, 5k
Summary: Agatha dragged her hostage around in front of her, yanking the strings so he was forced up onto his knees. “Told you I had a very special surprise for you. Now—standdown, dear.”
Slowly, still not quite believing this was real, Wanda lowered her hands, trying to find her voice again. “Clint?” ————————————– So that’s where Clint was during WandaVision
the one with natasha and wanda’s agreement (ao3) - kenscarquin wanda/natasha E, 45k
Summary: “What kind of agreement,” she’s whispering her words now, Natasha’s mouth just inches from her own.
“Sex. Friends with benefits. No strings attached. That kind of thing,” Wanda’s knees weaken as Natasha speaks, the words sounding so out of place but at the same time, so fitting coming out of the red head’s mouth. “Are you interested?”
Wanda Enchanted (ao3) - percyjacksonfan9261 wanda/vision, steve/natasha G, 52k
Summary: When Wanda was a baby, her fairy godmother, Agatha, decided to give her the so called "gift" of obedience. By the time that Wanda becomes a teenager, sick of her step family bullying her, she decides to go on a quest to find out where she can find her fairy godmother and convince her to remove to "gift". Joining Wanda is one of her few friends, an elf who wants to be an inventor in a world that doesn't allow it, and a prince who's uncle just so happens to be plotting to kill him for a bid to take over the throne. When Wanda slowly starts falling for the prince and uncovers the plot of his assassination, she has to figure out what's more important in her life: following her heart or getting rid of her obedience once and for all.
wanda’s reward (ao3) - Spagheddje wanda/vision G, 3k
Summary: Wanda, when confronted with Death herself, must make a choice. Lady Death isn’t prepared to take her soul. Not today, at least. Instead, she wants to strike a deal with the Witch to end this war once and for all.
when (brock) falls in love (ao3) - winter_angst jack/brock M, 10k
Summary: Jack needs to set the record straight on the untimely passing of his husband, disgraced actor Brock Rumlow.

(Screenshot from WaPo's Early Brief)
We love Harris, but we have questions.
Bullet point: Did people think they were signing up to work for some hippie Legal Aid clinic? On the other hand, where does a "cautious approach to big decisions" come from?
It sounds to us as if Harris is in charge, but that immediate subordinates, middle management types, or trusted outsiders are muddying the waters when it comes to decisions that require more information.
Gil Duran: Amazingly free of specifics. Running for something, Mr. Duran? Because, if it's California governor, we will rip you to shreds.
Harris Staff Turnover: Again with this? What part of "former prosecutor" did all the little staffies not understand? And again, the elephant in the room: Who, among those closest to Harris, is covertly playing Good Cop, Bad Cop with staff while Harris isn't looking?
For our part, we like Bad Cop, and so do the voters. Ditch the toxic marshmallow, Madame Vice President. You are more than good enough EXACTLY as you are. You don't have to change for ANYONE.

Stop them at the Polls
Gil Duran and George Lakoff • Frame Lab
Violence has no place in a democratic political system, and we condemn this despicable act. Yet we must also acknowledge that no one has done more to inject violence into our political discourse than Trump.
Josh Marshall • Talking Points Memo
Trump has already tried once to overthrow the republic in response to losing an election. He explicitly promises to wrench our democratic institutions into a perverted system of populist authoritarianism and wreck the structure of global alliances which have kept generations of Americans safe.
The Daily Beast
The Heritage Foundation’s president Kevin Roberts, one of the architects of the controversial Project 2025 plan for a second Trump presidency, said the quite part out loud this week when he warned liberals that there would be violence if they stand in the way of the “second American revolution.”
Kyler Alvord • People
A sweeping proposal for how Donald Trump should handle a second term in office has sparked concern for its implications on the role of federal government and its calls to eliminate a number of basic human rights.
Donald J. Trump and The Heritage Foundation pose a grave threat to our democracy and the American way of life.
When a young man tried to murder the Orange Man on Saturday night folks called for us to back off, let things cool down. Sure, ok, let’s back off. You can bet Trump’s campaign didn’t. They went to work fundraising off of the attempt on his life.
Violence is not the way and Democrats need to remain focused in our effort to get Independents to vote for President Biden.
The GOP has to lose or the country loses.

Twins Edge Astros Late For Series Win!
Twins 4 Astros 3 W-Okert (2-0) L-Pressly (0-3) SV-Duran (10)
The Houston Astros hit four home runs to even the series at a game apiece yesterday. The rubber game was this afternoon between the Twins and Astros. The Twins were ready from the jump as Trevor Larnach led-off and crushed a Hunter Brown fastball out to right for a solo homer in the first. This put the Twins up by one before the Astros grabbed a bat. The Twins got back to work in the second when Willi Castro reached on an infield single and Alex Kirilloff doubled him home. The Astros answered in the second when Victor Caratini belted a Simeon Woods Richardson change-up out to right for a solo homer. Houston pulled within a run after two frames. The Astros got back to work in the third as Kyle Tucker lined a one-out single to right. Alex Bregman then smacked a Simeon Woods Richardson curveball out to left for a two-run homer to put Houston on top. The Twins bounced back in the sixth when Jose Miranda smoked a Hunter Brown fastball out to left-center for a solo homer, which tied the game at three. The bullpens settled things down until the eighth when Trevor Larnach drew a walk. Ryan Jeffers bunted the runner over and Jose Miranda hit a run-scoring double to left. Griffin Jax threw a 1-2-3 eighth and the Twins headed into the ninth with the lead. Jhoan Duran had a perfect ninth and the Twins picked up the series win in Houston today.
-Final Thoughts- Simeon Woods Richardson did decent in his first start back home. He went 4 1/3 innings and allowed three runs on three hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Caleb Thielbar got out of the fifth, and Jorge Alcala recorded four outs, Steven Okert got out of the seventh. Griffin Jax had a 1-2-3 eighth and Jhoan Duran shut the door in the ninth. Jose Miranda and Carlos Santana led the way with two hits each. The Twins hit 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. The Twins will head to New York for an off day tomorrow. Bailey Ober will face Luis Gil in the series opener on Tuesday night.

The Tech Baron Seeking to “Ethnically Cleanse” San Francisco
If Balaji Srinivasan is any guide, then the Silicon Valley plutocrats are definitely not okay.
The New Republic|Gil Duran
Simply put, there is a ton of fascist-chic cosplay involved. Once an officer joins the Grays, they get a special uniform designed by their tech overlords. The Grays will also donate heavily to police charities and “merge the Gray and police social networks.” Then, in a show of force, they’ll march through the city together.
Everyone would be welcome at the Gray Pride march—everyone, that is, except the Blues. Srinivasan defines the Blue political tribe as the liberal voters he implies are responsible for the city’s problems. Blues will be banned from the Gray-controlled zones, said Balaji, unlike Republicans (“Reds”). “Reds should be welcomed there, and people should wear their tribal colors,” said Srinivasan, who compared his color-coded apartheid system to the Bloods vs. Crips gang rivalry. “No Blues should be welcomed there.”
While the Blues would be excluded, they would not be forgotten. Srinivasan imagines public screenings of anti-Blue propaganda films: “In addition to celebrating Gray and celebrating Red, you should have movies shown about Blue abuses.… There should be lots of stories about what Blues are doing that is bad.”
Balaji goes on—and on. The Grays will rename city streets after tech figures and erect public monuments to memorialize the alleged horrors of progressive Democratic governance. Corporate logos and signs will fill the skyline to signify Gray dominance of the city. “Ethnically cleanse,” he said at one point, summing up his idea for a city purged of Blues (this, he says, will prevent Blues from ethnically cleansing the Grays first).

Yeah ... they are deffinitely not O.K. ...
I just hope the bears get them ...

Throwback: Chic-Dance, Dance Dance
Chic debuted as a band in 1977 with their self-titled album which was mostly written and produced by co-founders Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. "Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah Yowsah Yowsah)" was their first single and they had conceptualized it as a tribute to American dance marathons of the 1920s and 1930s. Producer and songwriter Kenny Lehman worked with them on the song as a co-writer and producer. They were inspired by American dance contests of the 1920s and 1930s and they added a jolt of funk with their interpretation of the actor Gil Young's phrase 'Yowsah Yowsah Yowsah' from the movie actor They Shoot Horses, Don't They? Tony Thompson's boxy-sounding drum kit, symphonic strings plus Rodgers and Edwards' rhythm and bass guitars were the height of musicianship in disco music. Norma Jean Wright was the lead vocalist and Alfa Anderson, who would become the lead singer on the next album, provided background vocals with Luther Vandross.
Models Valentine Monnier and Alva Chinn who was one of the early Black models were photographed for the album cover. "Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah Yowsah Yowsah)" was a big record for Chic scoring Top Ten and Top 40 chart positions domestically and abroad as well as a Gold certification. They considered themselves the rock band of the disco world with their global dance anthems which would be sampled and covered endlessly in the future. The album was remastered and reissued in 2006 and 2011. In 2018, Chic released It's About Time after a 26-year hiatus with a new lineup. In 2023, Rodgers won two Grammy Awards for co-writing "Cuff It" on Beyoncé's Rennaissance album and a Special Merit Lifetime Achievement Grammy. Nile Rodgers & Chic are currently on the Duran Duran Future Past Tour.
