My science education nonprofit, Skype a Scientist (you might know her, creator of the squid facts hotline and matcher of classrooms + scientists) has secured absolutely no grants to support general operations for 2025. But! We're selling advent calendars to fund our program! They absolutely rule. They can save our nonprofit asses. If we sell 5000, which I realize, is so many, we can fund our program for 2025. Then I can offer a bunch of programming for free. Running a nonprofit is a weird job.

Every day, counting down to frankly whatever you want (it's usually Christmas, but man, maybe you want to count down to Halloween, that's fine by me) scratch off the sparkly sparkly iridescence and reveal a fact about frogs! We have 24 top-notch frog facts here.

Dungeon Meshi modern au where both Laois and Falin are food vloggers. Laois is always travelling to remote areas and cultures to try the most "extreme" foods and bring them to light. He's known as the guy who will drink blood and slam a still wriggling bug just to comment on it's nutty flavor. Meanwhile Falin is visiting long-standing eateries and sharing the stories behind local cuisine.

Nobody actually puts together they're siblings (in part due to wildly different viewerbases) until Falin in one video mentions how she enjoys eating insects and the comment section is full of folks asking her to "collab with the bug guy". Her very next video is her and Laois smiling infront of a mukbang style platter of insects and she introduces him as her brother.

You know what I'm curious about… how does Billy have any sense of time??? When I was a child (I still kinda am) I had no idea what time meant. You could have told me that I would need to wake up at 5:30am tomorrow and I would be awake till 2:00am. I can't imagine what it's like for a homeless kid who has no one keeping him accountable and no routine.

So because of this I think Captain Marvel is sporadic when showing up, none of his villains have any idea when he's going on patrol. They probably think he doesn't sleep at all, he just disappears into a different dimension and then reappears whenever. He'll only start to keep track of time when he joins the justice league so he's not late to meetings or monitor duty.

they don’t know it, but as of today, dean dies in one year.

to them, it’s another day on the calendar, and dean spends it working on a busted-up ford in the garage. sam spends it on the phone with one of garth's contacts, filling them in on kitsune lore. in the afternoon, they both take miracle on a trip into town to get another bag of kibble and argue over buying another bag of tennis balls to replace the ones he keeps losing.

they eat leftover meatloaf tonight for dinner, and sit in front of a the mentalist rerun. dean's not happy with the meatloaf that he made the night before, stating that he should've seasoned it more, but sam insists that it's fine. they make plans to go up to the lake this weekend, because they haven't been in a while.

chuck is gone. life is good. life is short, but neither of them realize how short, quite yet.

sam doesn't know that next month, he and dean will have their last christmas. he doesn't know that these are the last fits dean will pitch over the strength of the eggnog and the quality of the tree they chop down. he doesn't know the debate of which beer to pair with their christmas dinner that he's rolling his eyes over now will be a memory that'll he'll think about for every christmas for the rest of his life.

dean doesn't know that he has one more birthday with his brother, sam sliding him a year's membership to a DVD rental service, and that he will be thrilled. he already has everything he could want. but he still insists they request the full james bond collection first.

they don't know, of course.

but the night is pleasantly quiet and cool, and they trade their goodnights in front of dean's door.

dean has three hundred sixty four days to live, and he trips over a discarded pair of jeans on his floor. damn, he's getting old.
