I've tried a couple of times to get my thoughts organized regarding white viewers commentary on how AMC's IWTV handles race, but I'll just simply say there's definitely a cynicism that is common in a lot of those analysis that is...bemusing.

NCIS is approaching the airdate of its 1000th episode, across (I think) 5 shows.

Star Trek (across everything episodic, that's 12 shows) has 902 episodes which come from 47 seasons including some commissioned but not yet aired/made*

Before anyone asks, Law and Order across its 7 shows is apparently 1,340 episodes.

Conclusion: We need more 22 episode long seasons of Star Trek (but with better lighting and whimsical moments and so on obviously!)

*according to Wikipedia and yes, I checked the 47 seasons count included to be aired, but am assuming the 902 is correct because brain is running out of braining for the day)

I think you could say the same about the FoTD/EHA era but something about this new era just feels so…happy? The energy is so refreshing and maybe it’s just recency bias or the fact that 2024 has been a really tough year but everything genuinely feels like a breath of fresh air to me – not just the music itself but the unknown…? The what’s to come, the not yet announced or released, the hush hush, the anticipation, the people, crew, venues, all of that… it’s just all very exciting and stimulating. I’ve been on a non-stop kick for the past 2 weeks.

I LOVE what Roxane says about Jacob and Sam. For someone from the outside to talk about "the joy" they have in being around each other...that's so beautiful. And it really sounds like they're both great people who make the set great for everyone. I really hope they have a lot of scenes together next season -- that it's more like season 1 in that sense. It obviously couldn't be that way for the story in season 2, but I hope that we have flashbacks to Nola and that Lestat is telling Louis his story in the present.

Yeah, me too. It's such a great interview in general (I love the way she talks about Madeleine and Claudia!), but that bit about Jacob and Sam just says a lot about the culture on set which is such a lovely thing.

And yeah, I agree! I won't be able to find it now, but I do remember reading / hearing Rolin saying that Jacob will have a similar role in s3 to Sam's role in s1, which means he should be pretty front and centre still / that their relationship will likely be an anchor again for the show, in whatever form that takes. Louis' there for a lot of the vital parts of both TVL and Queen of the Damned anyway, even if he does take more of a backseat in the books, but given the way the show's deepened his character and made him less passive overall, I feel like it actually won't be that hard to give him plenty of plot and more of a story arc either on his own or entwined with Lestat's.

It's going to be so interesting to see how they do it!

there's been a family emergency and while i knew about the cause behind it, hearing that it got worse rattled me more than i thought it would. pls if you have the energy for it, send me asks or write me starters to distract me or add me on disco (saniichariie) but pls tell me who you are if/when you do. i've decided to watch the entirety of the tvdeu backwards so i finished the third spin off today and will now begin the second. and then i'll watch the og show again. and hopefully i can read and finish the second tvd book - which i started ages ago - at some point, too, because i already finished the first one.

you don’t have to answer but i’m curious. you implied not liking TO, so what are the major things you’d change about it to make it more enjoyable for you as a klaus understander?

major things would of course be klaus and elijah's deaths, and the fact that they were constantly retconning older and stronger villains at every turn. the thing that annoyed me the most was the fact that the originals went from the big bads on tvd to basically being tossed around like ragdolls on their own show; the biggest insult to injury was the reuse of the immortality spell. oh, you're the oldest vampires in existence, the progenitors and the sires of all other vampires ever? you're unique bc you're originals? haha syke! here's a wittle spell and serum that can turn literally any vamp into the equivalent of an original :) so annoying lmao
