Heads Up For New Fans of DoubleThickCustard Because My Inbox Is Alive Again Somehow And I’m Pretty Over It

- I was his partner on all of his webcomics and he screwed me out of every penny of our earnings. I’m grateful for the support we received on the projects, but be aware that showing up in my inbox asking about him devalues the fact that I created over 70% of the entire plot and worldbuilding. “Galdranorn And The Fury” and “Two Kings” were staged in a universe I had spent several years developing before we’d ever met. I never made a dime and had to live off of wired cash from my mother when I was living with him or else I would’ve starved. He did not believe I deserved a share and “held onto the money for me” while not even permitting me access to our jointly-held patreon.

-I know you like the webcomic platform but it’s been many years since we split and I’ve gotten many messages since then strictly with interest in him and not in my writing, which I was continuing to produce on my own patreon until I gave the fuck up. I was active and publishing until relatively recently when it became clear to me that fan loyalty was dedicated more to him as the artist than me as the writer that was over his shoulder every step of the way with character design, setting, backgrounds, and lore.

-Thanks for the repeated questions about what happened to him and further demonstrating the reason for my growing apathy for publishing anything in written-word form whatsoever. Enjoy your visual media because I’m sick of trying to compete with an abusive drug addict that flipped his shit and gave up painting altogether after I left the project due to his abuse over 7 years ago and hasn’t been active on social media since. You’re worshiping the ghost of someone who exploited my work with the knowledge that it’s more difficult for a writer to be published and seen vs. a visual artist.

- He developed a severe opioid addiction during the last months of our “Two Kings” project and more of earnings from our fans and subs went toward his codeine addiction. He used me and our roommate as mules to get his fixes.

- I lived with the guy for over a year and he was abusive and unstable as shit and nearly gave me a concussion by throwing a ceramic coffee mug with full-force at me.

- He threw screaming fits and tantrums because I refused to work for 15 hours a day, every day, with no days off, for free. I do not have the mental or physical stamina to work that long without burning out and melting down into panic attacks that would make me vomit for days. He was aware of this. I was later diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder and Complex PTSD by my existing psychiatrist and therapist. The stress from living, working, and being in a relationship with him caused me to black out and dissociate from large chunks of time when I wasn’t having panic attacks.

-He banned me from writing or RPing with any other writers/authors because he believed it was cheating on our relationship. I am not making this up. I had several nervous breakdowns over keeping my private laptop and phone locked up so he wouldn’t snoop through my messages and files. I desperately wanted to interact more with our fans and readers, but I was not permitted to do so based upon his beliefs that I wasn’t presentable or that I would meet someone and start writing with them, and therefore start cheating on him.

-When I left, he found my private diary for therapy, read the entire thing, and personally attacked me over every entry. The diary was a therapeutic approach suggested to me by a mental health professional for expressing times of intense distress. I have not been able to journal or diary for therapeutic purposes since because of what he said to me. It was extremely personal and contained information about my life I DO NOT share with anyone but a therapist.

-He laced my food with gluten when I suffered from a dietary condition that called for a gluten-free diet and didn’t tell me for at least two weeks.

-He would lose his fucking mind if I went and bought us groceries, which became my job almost every week when I didn’t have a car and had to walk to the grocery store in the middle of summer in Sydney fucking Australia. If I forgot to “surprise” him with candy, he’d scream at me.

-After I got back home and tried to pick up the pieces, he used the access he still had to my GatF and TK files and deleted them. There were over 10,000 pages, millions upon millions of words, and at least 3 full novels’ worth of work prepared that was slated to be published. It’s gone now. It’s been erased.

Thank you, now please do your own sleuthing elsewhere. I don’t like being reminded about one of the most miserable times of my life where I hated myself so much that I was genuinely suicidal. DoubleThickCustard is, as far as I know, a non-entity online. Find him yourself. I’m not going to try to help you support someone who exploited, abused, and stole from me for years.

I’m back with a brand new patreon and a brand new novel!

Hey everyone. I know I haven’t been much of a presence here in a long time, but I’ve finally made a comeback with a debut for my new patreon page featuring the first chapter of my novel available for free!

As much as I dislike asking, it would be a huge help if you could reblog and share this with your friends and followers. I’ve got a book to publish and stuff.

But I’m not going to just leave you hanging! 

Here’s the synopsis:

"Margrave" is the beginning of a series following 25-year-old twins Cassandra and Alex von Rhein. In this fusion of urban and high fantasy, Cass and Alex are the youngest members of an ancient inhuman family made into nigh-immortal beings through the use of stolen divine artifacts, the meddling of mad fallen angels, and literal deals with the Devil.

On the outside, their lives appear idyllic. Born in an immense extra-dimensional city known as the Zitadelle von Rhein, Cassandra and Alex were first brought up in a fantastical place modeled to suit the strangely-fond and twisted memories of fallen angels cast out from Heaven after Lucifer's defiance in Eden. But there's a price to paradise. Having spent much of their lives masquerading among mankind and traveling the world with their strange and willful mother, or with their two fathers - Henry, and the devil known as Bune - Cassandra and Alex gradually come to the realization that the life they knew within the Zitadelle is far from anything heavenly. In time, their tolerance for the horrible secrets within their hidden society wanes, and the twins do the unthinkable. They run.

What makes "Margrave" different?

"Margrave" isn't merely a story about youthful rebellion against convention. It contains a wide variety of folklore, legend, and myth spanning multiple cultures and traditions, including creatures and cultures of my own making among some special names you may recognize. The book also tackles such issues as LGBT+ representation without queerbaiting, mental illness, polyamorous themes, asexual representation, the fallout of abuse and trauma, and the grim reality of defying familial tradition and loyalty at the cost of being ostracized by the ones we love most.

The series includes a cast of colorful characters of different races and creeds, both real and fantastical, and delves into the realm of how losing the love of family can lead to discovering an entirely new one comprised of devoted friends and confidants. Even if some of them can't be altogether trusted...

"Margrave" and its associated content is an adult series. Not only does it include graphic sexual content, but it also contains other potentially-jarring and upsetting themes. Murder, political intrigue, and the terrors of choosing one potential subjugator over another abound. The twins fancy themselves very grown-up at 25, but the choices they come to make prove that they still have a lot to learn about more than just one very slippery world.

This patreon, as I mentioned above, will also play host to other projects and works I've already written and will continue to write in the future. "Margrave" is not my first novel. In the dusty back room of my GDocs folder lie the manuscripts of two novels in a progenitor series that I wrote almost 10 years ago when I was 18 called "The Heathen Flame" series. I have some loose plans to eventually go back to those manuscripts and polish them up and release them for those interested in seeing how the story of Cassandra and Alex got started and came to evolve into "Margrave".

Further, I have been working extensively on a side-project with a very dear and magnificently-skilled friend of mine. The work she and I have done together started off as a bit of a playful lark, but gradually morphed into an enormous exercise in world-building that touches on aspects of the "Margrave" universe and characters that I couldn't really explore in the canon novel, and may not be able to for some time. Because the project began after I completed the "Margrave" manuscript, I can't yet release our joint project, as it takes place late in the chronology of the canon story and would be incredibly confusing to follow along without "Margrave" being fully released for reference. Until then, I'm leaving the subject of the story and my mysterious co-author blank. Stay tuned~

I will also be releasing writing tips and guides along with my creative writing for anyone who is interested in pursuing the craft and would like to learn some of my tricks and methods. Patrons are also free to make requests if there's anything in particular they want to know.

Patrons of a certain tier and above will also be given the opportunity to request/vote on potential one-shots (smutty or otherwise) and tidbits as standalone pieces complementary to the series at large!

We no longer work together anymore due to creative and personal differences, but while we were working together, we produced the webcomic series "Galdranorn and the Fury" and "Two Kings", which can still be found on sites like tapastic.com. Feel free to check them out!

Former fan? Don't lose heart! The "Margrave" universe was structured on my contribution to the work I did with my former partner, and I retain the intellectual rights to the places, characters, and general structure that I was responsible for creating. Familiar faces and places that I created for our old series are set to be reborn!
