Gar'Skuther (+ Little Oogie) from Spore Creatures DS. This guy has such an amazing design, not to mention the whole genetic engineering thing he has going on

A little more old art because it has come to my attention that there is apparently a Spore fandom on Tumblr. This is my take on Gar'skuther, one of my all-time favorite villains from one of my favorite childhood games.

I tried designing Gar'Skuther as an actual creature rather than just a floating fella. Text written out under break since my handwriting is crap.

(Arrow pointing to his trunk.) "Prehensile trunk."

(Arrow pointing to his chest.) "High blubber content for arctic waters."

(Arrow pointing to the eye.) "Clear cover for dives + better night vision."

(Arrow pointing to eyelashes.) "Prehensile, good at removing ice particles."

(Arrow pointing to his feet.) "Able to be used as hands but not very well in most cases. Hard claws, soft pads in bottom to grip ice."

(Arrow pointing to his butt.) "Typically reproduces like fish but capable of mammal style in times of poor water condition or high predation."

"Gar'Skuther is the last member of his species. His homeworld was ravaged by climate change and war, later being completely destroyed by the enemy using a planet buster. He single-handedly defeated them, wiping them from the face of the galaxy and becoming feared amongst the galactic community. His unethical and cruel experiments are a desperate attempt to revive his species."

Oogies are mimics of a sort.

You take a little something from all the creatures around you, change yourself to fit what has already been proven to work.

So when you finally struck down The Infector you were not content to leave him in the snow. You cracked open his shell, sunk your teeth into the soft insides. He was a rancid thing, but you were not leaving without your prize.

There are many things you could have taken from him, technology and biology beyond your comprehension, but you wanted none of this.

You wanted his voice.

again, i am not an AU type of person, but after replaying Spore Creatures DS;

i imagined after Gar'skuther's defeat, his actual body forcibly mutates into something resembling one of the skuthers he created, unable to return his mechanical suit. he absolutely detests the feeling of a body not encased in fluid and mechanics, wishing he could go back to the way he was before. He fails to realise the creatures and species he forcibly mutated feel the same manner, too.
