So idk if all yall reading this know the Game Grumps on YouTube but they’re doing this thing on patreon where they’ll read submitted fanfictions live and I’m just grappling with the idea of like,,,,, WHAT IF,,,, yknow…..

Back when YouTubers G/T was a big thing I know game grumps weren’t the most written about people but they do have quite a few g/t fics from that era. I’ve read a lot of them because YTGT was my very first online g/t obsession and game grumps have always been my favorites even before that,

Like there’s one where Arin gets super mad at a video game and ends up scaring a Borrower Dan and he has to comfort him and it’s really cute and sweet to someone in the g/t community BUT to someone OUTSIDE the community? Especially the REAL PEOPLE inserted into the story?????

I am DYING to know what their reactions would be but I would NEVER want to actually submit a g/t fic cuz I think I would DIE of second hand embarrassment.

Also I just don’t really like the idea of the general viewing public learning about g/t, one of my favorite things about this community is the lack of harassment (that I’ve seen) and I know that’s mainly because people just don’t freaking know that we exist lmao

A Date with Death Review

Time Played: 3.7 hours

I just finished playing (and streaming) this game, so I figured now is the best time to compile my thoughts. I only played through one ending for now, but I will play the rest off camera.

Spoiler-free review below.

Who doesn't want to date the Grim Reaper? Death Incarnate? Someone who doesn't judge you for your plushie collection?

Grim is absolutely my type. He has tsundere moments, he's incredibly kind, and he's always honest. I like that he has a balance of grumpy/edgy and sweet/innocent vibes. He's a pro at unintentionally sweeping anyone off their feet.

It's hard to resist teasing him though- his reactions are funny every time. Plus the pouty blush is priceless. It's endearing to watch him try to learn "internet lingo" to communicate with the mortals. You're doing great, babygirl.

The MC's options to tease him constantly really made this game enjoyable to me. They have the grump x sunshine trope going on, and that's one of my favorite dynamics of all time. I'd be happy reading conversations between them anytime.

That said, I'm also thrilled with the extensive customization options for the MC. Pronouns, appearance, typed biography, etc. You can even customize their bedroom! How cool is that? I loved adding little details that showed their personality, like bookshelves and plants. The addition of a pet melts my heart too. I adore my pet, so I'm glad the MC can have a pet they adore.

PROTAGONIST PRAISE

As I said before, I'm glad this game allows customization of the MC. You can pick plenty of options to shape their personality and background, so your playthrough might not be entirely the same as what I described above. I think you can easily self-insert or create your own character with the options available. Have fun making a protagonist you want to see!

OVERALL THOUGHTS

This is one of the best games I've played! I kept looking forward to playing more. I feel obsessed now that I've finished one ending and it's probably only going to get worse from here.

I appreciate this being a free game with DLC options. I hope to see more DLCs added in the future too.

If anyone's looking for a free game filled with heartwarming, bittersweet, and hilarious moments, then you should give it a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed with this lovable Grim Reaper. (Plus he's very pretty to look at.)

I used my time zone for this so some events may have happened hours earlier or later for others. That and also the date I found certain posts. So you have to keep those two factors in mind while reading through. Also minor note is that I write them on the day and once it’s over I do not mess with previous entries.

March 5, 2022: Mark released the official trailer for In Space with Markiplier.

He has replied to tweets, and reblogged stuff on tumblr. If you look at the keywords for the trailer, he was cheeky and typed “you’re looking for an easter egg aren’t you?”. No need to call us out.

2 Major fan agreements: Chica is seen as the most important part of the trailer, and we aren’t qualified enough to run a spaceship.

March 6, 2022: He is seen in multiple comments section of ISWM trailer reaction videos on youtube. Pretty active on social media probably reading fan reactions on all platforms he knows. Like a lurker. 

March 7, 2022: Unrelated but it sparked discussion. Matpat made a Game Theory video of Mark’s ideal Pokemon. 

March 8, 2022: Some memes about how ISWM is free and not paid got popular. Not sure the origin date of this fandom meme but he does go on a rant in “nothing strange is happening here.” about being confused why people think Distractible Podcast was paid.

March 9, 2022: Mark has interacted with his fans on twitter. Gave the fans a scare.

A fan announcement is released to change names and locations when ISWM drops. Mark himself liked an earlier version of the tweet.

Unrelated to ISWM but related to fandom matters. 10 Minute Power Hour - Season 2 Trailer on The Grumps youtube channel was posted. I’ve heard that marktwt ended up having to see his ass on their timelines for a few days. Cannot confirm nor deny.

March 10, 2022: Cursed stream. Watching the Same Video 100 Times. He has way too high of a charisma stat that there was a good amount of people went along with this insane stream from start to finish. He had a very Actor-esque monologue in the middle and got permission to show BTS photos (say Thanks Amy). Live viewers was consistently around 25k.

This is the day a good amount of the fans decided we will give him hell when the show comes out.

March 11, 2022: I’m not sure why but the Markiplier fandom on tumblr decided to make some Bald Mark edits.

March 12, 2022: The Test 2. Timestamp: 51:34. It’s another tease for ISWM but this is from the last frame of Everything has to begin with the date release from the ISWM trailer.

March 13, 2022: Not much outside of some fans making a copypasta. “Hello. This is Markiplier. I have been logged out of my main account and I need your credit card information so I can keep making Youtube Let's Plays.”

There are variations but the main content of the copypasta is the same. Mick also posted this on his twitter.

March 14, 2022:  Mark did a livestream “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2: REVISITED”. It managed to reach over 100k viewers live on average (probably, I was only there in the last 50 minutes). For whoever needs it. He likes being called a himbo.

March 15 & 16, 2022: Nothing noteworthy to say about these days.

March 17, 2022: Since so much nothing has happened. I’ll report that Mark uploaded Assessment Examination. Cursed Thumbnail BTW. Thanks, I hate it.

March 18, 2022: Nothing to note.

March 19, 2022: Mark went live. FNAF 3 Revisited. He mentions 1928 so WKM fans are triggered. Also briefly explains why he hasn’t been active.

March 21, 2022: Mark went live. FNAF 4 Revisited. I find it funny that if you ctrl+u and searched for the keywords he just keeps adding instead of changing things around. First one I didn’t get to watch live.

March 22, 2022: The Grumps: 10 Minute Power Hour. Our [REDACTED] boys doing chaotic things as usual. 2 weeks left before release, I’m assuming Mark will start messing with the fandom big time when there’s only a week left.

March 29, 2022: DING! DING! DING! DING! Something finally happened! One of the captains found a link to an unlisted video because their premiere glitched. It’s mostly the same. The only thing that has changed is that the slap is in reverse. Here is the link and from unlisted it went to private. So that link is useless now but hey, at least we have the URL.

March 30, 2022: Because timezones are a thing, I’m writing the part 2 here. A couple of our fellow captains found 2 codes from the video. One and two. The first one has an update. First link references Venus, and the second link is with Zeus so Jupiter. This amazing captain has a pretty solid idea. Whether this will be true or not is up to the future.

Thumbnail changes are also happening. Mark is also messing with the polls. Three times actually.

Good things that happened today:

Watched Markiplier's playthrough of "A Little to the Left" and found the whole game fascinating. I also found it funny that the recommendations showed a Game Grumps video on the same game, only they didn't break 20K views while Markiplier's already has over a million. Just goes to show how far one group fell and how one continues to rise. And good for him, to be honest (PLEASE don't be a secret creep, Mark. I don't think most of YouTube will be able to take it...)

My poll for the best season of Red vs. Blue blew up a bit. It's a little irritating with people going "Where's Season Six" (Where was was that passion during the Recollection poll?), but it was still nice that it's FINALLY getting attention. I love seeing people's reactions and indecision of what to pick as it's always the best parts about these polls.

Made some common ground with one of the annoying turds that I work with. Explained why he makes me so frustrated all while apologizing for an outburst I had yesterday, which I do feel bad for. I genuinely hope things will be better in the future.

I got to pet TWO dogs today, my favorite being this floofy boi that licked me a little as I pet him. I unfortunately didn't get to pet two dogs that would not stop barking at me, but I did learn that one of them was named Max and looked like a blonde version of my dog named Max. The woman even called him "Maxie" like my mom used to. It was like the little booger got reincarnated into a blonde and it weirdly...felt nice. It' at least a nice thought to think. Because I miss him. I still miss my little buddy...

I powered through this exhaustion/fatigue I felt at work. Usually, when it feels like I'm about to pass out, I just tell my boss that I'm feeling sick and should head home only to have that energy immediately return the second I'm in the car with my mom. I just told myself it was all in my head like always and I got through it perfectly...Well, aside from two moments when I almost did pass out but I still got through.

At long last, I finished RvB Season 10. Still a great season and if it miraculously beats Season 8 in the polls, it'll be well-earned.

Got to read the X-Men fight the Fantastic Four. I always love seeing heroes fight each other, as it's really when you see unique powers on display, especially when it's one team against another and seeing who tackles who.

A friend who I can always be myself around is… I feel zero shame being fully myself around Tez and Mazzy. I think it's important to mention here that I KNOW I can be 100% myself around Girt, I'm just so wildly afraid of rejection/judgment/being seen as "weird" that I'm still sometimes needlessly hesitant. I've gotten better about it, though.

Something helpful to lose weight is… Not a very helpful response, but real talk, the most reliable "how to" I've found is to be in a good mental health state. My heaviest era took place during my saddest, and my healthiest weights post-initial mass weight gain came from periods where I was mentally well. NO, you do NOT need to be "okay" to lose weight, I'm just saying historically, that stood out for me.

A fear of mine is… Aside from the answers I normally give, for some variety, slugs. I'm very afraid of them just because of their sliminess and general texture. I will scream if I see one, and will NOT touch something one is on, even though I know how stupid that is, it's like I expect them to bolt up my arm when they're fuckin slugs, bro lmao. I want to overcome this fear, I actually think visually slugs are quite cute, and they're also helpful organisms that are just so harmless, but I'm so freaked out by them. It's funny, I'm not scared of snails at all; it's like put a shell on their back and suddenly the cuteness overrides the "ew slimy" reaction.

I carry my wallet in my purse too (where my phone and inhaler are too), and it has important cards in there, such as my blood type in case of some wild emergency where I need a blood transfusion and I'm nonresponsive.

What is something you want to be remembered for? I advocated for love and peace and kindness towards our planet and all that live in it.

What is your favorite thing about the beach? Being in the water. I'm one of those people that love being smacked (but not totally abused lol) by the waves, being tossled a bit and stuff. If reminds me how small I am, how inconsequential my ass is in the giant scope of the universe and even just this single planet. It's VERY freeing from anxiety, I just feel very peaceful when I'm in the ocean. I hate the salty wind, I hate the yucky sand and walking through it and having it stick to your wet body, but being in the ocean is an S-tier experience for me.

Are you afraid of snakes? Not at all, snakes are some of my favorite animals on the planet. Like sure, I'm going to be respectful to venomous species and give them space, but even those I'm not properly "afraid" of.

Do you like mangoes? So I'm funny with mangoes. Mango flavor? It's one of my favorites! But the texture of real mangoes is so fucking repulsive to me, I can't eat them. I was SO disappointed when I tried one the first time.

Do you play games on your phone? Yeah, I enjoy PokemonGO, DragonVale, Dragons of Atlantis, and Amaru (it's a self-care pet but has "game" traits to it).

Current Obsession: BOY this one is in a weird place? Gimme a minute to lay this one out.

So like, I'm literally 6 years into having New Daily Persistent Headache and Fibromyalgia/probably Sjogren's Syndrome, which basically means I've had some flavor of migraine 24/7 since Feb 27 2018. My capacity to do like, literally any kind of creativity has goddamn motherfucking shitkicking cuntscruggling TANKED over the last several years. I am, mentally speaking, not doing great!

So instead of writing I spend a lot of time thinking of Very Silly AUs of writings I might, one day, maybe, attempt to commit to. The stories I spend many hours huddled in the dark thinking about are stories so displaced from any kind of canon there's really no point in trying to write them down and share with all of y'all. They're for me as a distraction from how much pain I'm in so many hours of every single goddamn shitkicking day of my life. More specifically, migraine hell is quelled at least a little bit by very silly Time Travel AUs of Bad Times Happen To Your Faves AUs.

So this week I'm thinking about an AU where Edward Elric loses his right arm again for keepsies years post-canon, adopts a kid OC, realizes that the way he defeated Pride accidentally turned him into a homunculus comparable to Bradley, and decades later finds himself temporally flung right back into the shittiest time of his life (AKA the canon timeline).

Is this any kind of fic worth writing? Not really, not without like, at LEAST 300k worth of pretense. In my hunchbacked hating life and physical sensations day-to-day life however? Yeah, yeah, it's funny. It's silly and pointless and poignant and distracts me by thinking of ways how an older Ed could manipulate canon events (or at the very least convey them to canon versions of everyone before the canon shit can hit hit the canon fan). It's all Very Funny and Interesting to me. Will I ever write it? Absolutely not. Will it live rent-free in my brain for years to come? Oh, abso-fuckin'-lutely. Time Travel AUs of Wild AUs I'll Never Commit To Publically are the bread and butter of my brain's capacity to tolerate like, existence, at this point in my life.

Currently reading:

"Red Seas Under Red Skies", which is book 2 in the Locke Lamora series. Locke Lamora is a very smart street thief who steals from the rich and has very funny dialogue, he lives in a world where magic is real but only accessible to the ultra-rich and those people currently want him dead. Quippy fantasy heist series.

It's far from my favorite, but still a detailed and engaging fantasy world. My brother bought me book 1 a long time ago and book 2 recently and I kinda feel obligated to finish them. The series does impress me with its ability to actually make me laugh irl with its written dialogue. I think its an accomplishment for any writer to get a reaction out of the reader stronger than the "puff of air through the nose laugh." When I finish, it'll finally be time to tackle the Priory of the Orange Tree!

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, very slowly. I thought about watching S2 dub alongside sub, and I did for a few eps, but Toji's English VA put me off soooo bad that I kind of dropped that...also been watching a few horror films lately.

I finally watched Men which was strongly disturbing and Saint Maud which was pretty good, a bit on the dull and slow side but pretty bleak. I was also pretty impressed by No One Will Save You (extremely socially isolated young woman's home invaded by aliens, it's NOT a dream).

More frequently than that, I watch Game Grumps for a little stupid positivity and a few horse-related YT channels.

Currently obsessed with:

My fantasy au KageHina fic about mage!Kageyama and unicorn!Hinata, which I've kicked around in my head since mid-2020 and am currently planning to make my NaNoWriMo project. My outline is looking faaaaatttt and I'm pretty hyped about it. And I kind of would like to turbo-run this story and get it out of my head and off the WIP table, this bitch is too crowded.

I started Nano last year and had 1 successful week but then got called into my boss's office to be told I would let go in a few months. The threat of upcoming joblessness and immediate need to apply for jobs destroyed my creative drive and simply cancelled Nano for me. This year though, I have a way better job and I work from home 90% of the time! Life is 5x better than it was last year, so I may actually make it through Nano properly!

Not sure if I'll hit 50,000 words though...I'm setting a soft goal to just hit 500 a day instead of the correct 1600. Baby's first real Nano.

😅 - What’s a story or scene you’ve created that you’re a smidge embarrassed exists?

I came into writing fanfic as an adult, so luckily I don’t have any dodgy teenage FF following me 😅 As things stand, I haven’t written any content that I’m embarrassed about yet. But I do sometimes go back and read older fics and early chapters of DWM and cringe because I feel like I could write them so much better now.

🤡 - What’s a line, scene, or exchange you’ve written that made you laugh?

I’m very open about the fact that I find myself hysterical. It’s one of the qualities I share with Astrid. I laughed a lot writing DWM. Particularly during Chapter 9 [drunk Astrid]. Especially the section where she can’t figure out what card game they’re playing [that still makes me giggle even now]. I also find Silco’s reaction when Jinx bursts in during their makeout session on the couch very funny.

But I’m also gonna drop a section of my Zutara fic - These Tides Do Turn. The very first scene of Chapter 14 - which I call ‘The Egg Scene’. It makes me laugh for a very different reason than DWM. It makes me laugh because these characters are learning how to laugh again after having been through unimaginable horrors. Especially Zuko, who canonically is a huge humourless grump. I just think it’s a very joyful moment in an ocean of angst.

[You can read this scene without reading the fic or knowing the show if you want. For context, Zuko used to be bald with a horrific pony tail stuck out the back of his head, and Aang is bald. No ponytail though.]

Yes, I do write spicy. I’ve only written one fic so far that is pure NSFW - but even that has plot threaded throughout.

Fun fact: I can fall asleep while standing and I don't fall over and can only do this for a couple of minutes though (I know, it's weird😭 my friends and family worry that one day I might hit my head😢)

Crushing

 God, how did this happen? He never had to deal with crushes before, sure, he found a few girls his age endearing or sickly sweet, almost making him sick, but you? You felt different from him. You felt more “alive” to him. He felt more “alive” when he saw you. He didn’t feel around you like this before, so why now? You weren’t seaborn, right? So how! Did you! Made him feel so! Embarrassed! He did some snooping around, figuring it’d be best to ask his friend Kirara. She always liked to play Otome Games, so maybe she would have the best guess on how to approach you about- No, don’t even overthink this too much, Mizuki. So he did just that, he asked his friend. And what did she say? “Woah! You so totally fell for our MC then! I knew it! I knew it, Mizu! You’re so easy to read sometimes!” NOW- NOW, how did she do that?? She mused with a lazy smug smile on her face, “You see. When the MC has a set route, it’s over for every other Love Interest! So you better should try to Kabedon your future girlfriend, or try the tsundere approach, she will notice when her friend suddenly turns into a jerk!”

Is that so? Would you really prefer it if he were to act as one of Kirara’s Love Interests? Surely not, right? He’s not just some 2D Guy that confesses his love silly willy! And doing a classic Kabedon is just a bit too much? It’d be cute to see your reaction but, what if you just start hating him? “Are you really thinking so hard about this, Mizu? Make yourself comfortable in my bean bag, Mizuki. Because you will drop dead after you hear this." With a "plump", he sat himself down on the bean bag, anxiety gnawing at the love-struck jellyfish boy. Waiting for his overdramatic bestie to break the theatrical silence with her announcement. “Your MC already is set into your route. Make sure to get the good ending!”

General Dating

 Once you achieved getting Mizuki’s good ending, and avoided his Yandere Route, he got more confident in being around you than previously. He almost returned to his old self, with the exception being that he got much more clingy and affectionate towards you. His teasings changed too! He enjoys teasing you with invading your personal space a lot. 

Really, there’s no need to turn pink, he’s your boyfriend now! He notices the way you wild slowly swing forth and back, the sleep taking over and your breathing slowing down. Sometimes you wonder if he felt the heart beat that lowered it’s pacing too. He thinks it’s funny that you’re able to fall asleep while standing, but falling asleep while you two stand in line for a Slushi isn’t the right moment. So he has to tickle you in these cases, getting a good laugh or a slightly irritated grump from you. Either way, he’ll always catch you and hug you tightly before you fall asleep.

Love Language

 Always one of you is clinging to the other. Sometimes it can get a bit suffocating with Mizuki with how much he physically clings to you, holding your waist or hands wherever you are. He doesn’t mind showing anyone that he’s your boyfriend. So much about Mizuki being a shy mess. He tends to have a rather cold temperatur, which is very good when you two end up sitting in the room for a whole day and do nothing but gaming with Kirara! Or how you two lay comfortably in your bed, just reading comics, manwhas and mangas. He made it his mission to expand your collection by a lot more, buying you frequently new manwhas for your collection and introducing you to comics and mangas he enjoys. He certainly doesn’t have a infinity amount of money, but he works sometimes a bit harder just to get you a new game or a cute merchandising of your favorites. Though, he hesitates buying you merchanidse of handsome men. You have him already, that should be enough! Helper and Flaw

 To be honest, I doubt Mizuki would be any help to overcome your procrastination. This guy would most likely even make it worse by keeping you up to date with your manwhas. He’s considerate enough to tune down his console while he’s gaming all alone. It just isn’t easy when your boyfriend is asking you every half hour if you’re soon done with your work, or why you didn’t finish it earlier. Does he want to help? Bold of you to assume that he would do his own paperwork. You’re better off being alone, and getting hugged once you join Kirara’s and Mizuki’s side again. Anyway, he will notice that you suddenly backed down from an intense conversation. He doesn’t really give you much of a choice and inquires more about your feelings on the matter. He doesn’t want to leave the conversation until both sides are happy, alas, he might just storm out when he’s feeling too upset in a discussion, returning later with the same upset emotions he had before. It’s going to take him a while to understand your viewpoint, and I imagine that the first fight could be very intense, and the next ones lesser and lesser until you two understand each other better, as to why you react and feel this way. On a positive note, I believe he’s always trying his best to make you smile. 

Inviting you over to his room when you feel upset, sneaking Kirara’s best snacks into your room, holding your hands and rubbing your knuckles and giving you light kisses on your temple.

Fun Facts

He would gladly bring you to a pool party, or anything similar, just not the beach.

When you get sick, he just makes his finest delish for you; a Cup of noodles with Chicken.

Once he purposefully trashed your umbrella away, just to get you to share one with him instead.

On Missions, he’s always one step ahead. Assassinating any enemy that just looks your way. He did promise you that he will always protect you from the shadows!

Only eat his cooking when you’re absolutely sure he didn’t use his special technic.
