Hi hi! One tiny question, do you happen to know where the names Galette and Financier for the protagonists of Magical Starsign came from? Someone asked me yesterday about it and it left me wondering because I don't really know, I don't think I've seen the names in-game before, only in the wiki/kovopedia/wikipedia articles and on social media. that's all, hope you have a wonderful day!!

Yo, I'm more than glad to answer this!

While the names Galette and Financier aren't explicitly mentioned in-game, they are more commonly found in Japanese MS gameplay screenshots and guidebooks! Also, the game's character designer, Shinichi Kameoka, refers to them as such (same goes for Mash and Mallow, the MV protags).

Their Japanese names are written as ガレット Garetto and フィナンシ��� Finanshe. As for their origin, galette and financier are both French cakes.

I just found out that Sorbet technically has an official last name, something I previously thought was only reserved for Mokka thanks to the fact he was in Magical Vacation as well, where all of the main cast has last names. You see, there's a non canon manga that details the original planned events for Magical Vacation 2 before it would change direction and become the Magical Starsign we know today. It mostly contains characters from Magical Vacation, but it does include the male protag from Magical Starsign and Sorbet. I already knew about the name the male protag was given here, which is Mash Blanc, (Although the more official name for the game version of him is Galette) but it was here where I found Sorbet's last name. Ronsard.

Now Magical Vacation has a particular naming scheme for last names, that being to just mash two words together. Which is how we have last names like Airsupply, Scorenote, Rustynails, etc.

So thinking about it, and not knowing what a Ronsard could be, I just looked up Ronsard and

Hi I've been a fan of Magical Starsign for literal years at this point but somehow I missed this entirely Where did the names Galette and Financier come from for the protagonists????

Honestly, I have no idea and I WISH I knew :') I've tried looking through the reference pages for the magical starsign wiki, the kovopedia and the magical starsign wikipedia article, and all of them attribute those names to the protagonists but none of them say where they got it from. one of the biggest magical starsign mysteries...
