hello i am back once again but with this

(the op elaborates more in the replies + the embedded one on atsumu) in case u canā€™t see it -> https://twitter.com/nonlovso/status/1374155371145756679?s=21
i love reading these types of tweets, just people talking about the character in canon, analysing what furudate was trying to depict when he wrote these characters. also the phrase ā€œmonsters can only thrive among monstersā€ ???? fuckjng love that, so much to unpack tbh.
idk i just rlly want to see these characters thru the eyes of the author. itā€™s hard for us readers when 1) we donā€™t know the thought processes behind the making of each character, and 2) many characters we only see on the volleyball court. but people act differently in different situations. i know itā€™s a pipe dream but i always hope for more canon haikyuu content outside of volleyball, just regular slice of life content, just teens being teens (i know haikyuu-buu exists but itā€™s not confirmed to be canon so šŸ’€)
- šŸŖ¢ sorry this become somewhat of a rant. this has been on my mind ever since i started liking suna, i couldnā€™t find posts / tweets like this for suna so i rlly struggled trying to fully understand him (which irritated me bc it felt like he was a one dimensional character šŸ˜”)
The amount of nerdy that I am I LOVE shit like this.
Which you know what is interesting is the way each can be laid out for each characters struggle with loneliness and how Sakusaā€™s is clearly the easiest to identify and yet people chastise him almost the most (Have yā€™all ever met only children? They can be a little weird and Iā€™m married to one ok so I get it) But ironically Bokuto is one I never thought about (though Iā€™ve thought in depth over Akaashiā€™s bc he latches to the 3rd yrs and then gets physically left alone)Ā
Bokutoā€™s loneliness is weird bc of course when Furudate let out who has siblings (which I got way too nerdy about that bc the family dynamics were real obvious after Furudate gave us siblings to characters) Bokuto is the youngest among three and anyone whoā€™s ever had/known three kids is the baby is almost always the golden child in some way. On purpose or not. Like how much older are the sisters? Are they close? Did they baby Bokuto and thatā€™s why heā€™s so focused on the team? (bc he needs someone to not reallyĀ ā€œtake careā€ of him but at least guide his emotions at least) We see Oikawaā€™s sister is obviously old enough for him to have nephew that old so clearly they werenā€™t raised too much together (age gap) But Bokuto being the baby among two older siblings (female) in an Asian family really would speak to his need for attention bc heā€™s 1. The baby and 2. The only male child. Not faulting Bokuto at all bc like, he could really be a dick but heā€™s not. Which makes me feel like the sisters are closer in age bc if youā€™ve ever had siblings you know your ego gets to be in check no matter what. Bokutoā€™s loneliness is just something fun to pick apart bc itā€™s not exactly loneliness (or at least I donā€™t see it that way) like out of all of them heā€™s def seeking validation more than anything it feels like. Anyways- Sorry Iā€™m rambling I like character analysis way too much XD
But god yes the lack of content outside the volleyball realm drives me crazy. Especially post high school in that short 5 year span before MSBY v Schweiden. Which this is my total bias talking but I constantly want to know when and how it happened that Kageyama just, mellowed out. Heā€™s reintroduced not even really with a scowl. Totally unphased by the dumbshit Hoshiumi does, heā€™s surrounded by little kids (which I still wanna know when kids started to like him bc heā€™s the only one seen with a lot of younger fans repeatedly) and he smiles like a lot. Growth from the MSBY team always circles back (for me at least) for the four of them being together and growing like that. But Schweiden doesnā€™t have that substitute brother feel? I mean I think Kageyama and Ushijima get along real well (simpletons) but what about the other teammates? (Hoshiumi still has feral vibes that never leave I love him for that) But Kageyama was with them graduation on basically so who helped him mellow out? Who had such an impact on him that Kageyama kinda relaxed back into his interested, wide eyed and calm middle schooler self who was just enjoying playing volleyball. Like, Furudate??? You canā€™t just give me my man vibing being sweet and dealing with Hoshiumiā€™s bullshit and not tell me when it happened?? Was it personal life growth?? Was it the team?? FuruDATE GIVE ME ANSWERS
No one ever really points this out (or at least I havenā€™t seen it) but the two panels we get of Suna timeskip heā€™s smiling. I donā€™t know why but I just feel like that speaks to his character a lot. That heā€™s actually really a happy individual he just hated high school. He was in the lowest academic class, he loved volleyball but hated any variation of the twins and Kita and he was good at what he did but never really shined over having to deal with everything else. Which I mean heā€™s def not a spotlight kinda guy but even when theyā€™re watching past games for prep Ukai has to point out Suna is the main point getted for Inarizaki (bc everyone is focused on the twins) I dont know...I just kinda find Suna interesting bc heā€™s seen as almost mean but timeskip Suna is smiling, chatty with Komori and good enough to be in the top leagues. He always struck me as one of those kids who hated school but was incredibly smart. Which is why I probably liked canon Suna a lot quicker than whatever the fuck the fandom depicts him as. (not to mention the being the older sibling so anyone whoā€™s older knows you tend to be the emotionally calm one to not stir the pot and keep things calm at home which would really explain Sunaā€™s deadpan look a lot just from personal experience as the eldest child)
See now you made me go off, this was supposed to be short but I passed out last night before I could do anything XD Now everyone knows Im a nerd :l

Haikyuu Nationals theories (after chapter 247)
Ā Okay so what is happening in the manga kind of fits my theories about whatā€™s gonna happen during nationals, thatā€™s why Iā€™m making this post (and bc iā€™m HELLA EXCITED AAAAH) (sorry for my bad English)
My two starting assumptions (under the cut) :Ā
Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Karasuno wonā€™t win nationals (a bit too unrealistic, and if Furudate intends to continue Haikyuu after the Spring tournament, they can win another time. Also the main goal in this manga, for the plot, the readers (not really the team and the characters that much but it can be discussed), seems to be the battle of the trash heap, not winning the championship)
Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  They will sooner or later face both Nekoma and Fukurodani (for plot purpose, kind of fan service too, and I mean the battle of the trash heap has to happen like I said, and it will happen with the current 3rd years,ā€¦)
And for Fukurodani :
-Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  itā€™s all about Hinata and Bokutoā€™s friendship
-Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  it doesnā€™t make any sense to introduce us Fukurodani to do nothing with them, I do believe that, since we know them, Fukurodani has an huge role to play in the plot. You can tell me that Karasuno can play against them the next year, but without Bokuto and ALMOST ALL THE TEAM it doesnā€™t make any sense. But Iā€™ll talk about it later.
PART ONE - Rounds 2 and 3 (Inarizaki and Nekoma)
Now you know where I started, so here are my theories :
My former idea before chapter 247 was that Karasuno will play 1 or 2 matches before Nekoma, they will win the battle of the trash heap, and then (maybe not right after, I donā€™t know), theyā€™ll play against Fukurodani.
Why Nekoma first ? Because if Furudate indeed plans to make it happen, Karasuno have to win all their matches before, and itā€™s something the reader can feel I think. We can guess that they will win all their matches before Nekoma. So if Furudate put Fukurodani before Nekoma, all of us are sure that Karasuno will win, in order to get to the battle of the TH. And thatā€™s gonna make Karasuno vs Fukurodani a bad game. Besides, the aim of Karasuno vs Fukurodani will be reaching that battle, not defeating Fukurodani (I donā€™t know if you get the point ahah)ā€¦
But Haikyuu 247 happened and yeah, itā€™s Nekoma first !
Thatā€™s why I think choosing Inarizaki as a second match for Karasuno is a good idea. Here are 2 reasons :
-Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Karasuno defeating Inarizaki is quite unrealistic, if Iā€™m not wrong they are the second favorite, or at least one of the strongest team. The way Furudate introduce them was a bit scary.
Tumblr media
Can you feel the powaa ?
Tumblr media
(shitty quality Iā€™m sorry)Ā
Tumblr media
Even the rest of the team, and they arenā€™t even overshadowed by Miya ! I mean they seem to be well-known for their respective skills !
So Top 4 (?) ace, best setter, best serveā€¦ Holy shit what a team ! You can see that Furudate really wanted to make sure his readers understand that Karasuno will have some difficulties, that maybe they canā€™t even make it to the next game.
According to me, this is the only way Furudate can make us doubt, not be sure that they will face Nekoma. You see Karasunoā€™s first match ? We all knew that theyā€™d win arenā€™t we ? Not anymore. We can kind of lose that feeling of ā€œThey wonā€™t lose until Nekomaā€ with that surprising insane team.
-Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Before that chapter, I theorized that, if Karasuno donā€™t win nationals (my first point at the beginning), AT LEAST they have to win against a strong team. A super strong one. (First I thought about Itachiyama, but now we know that it canā€™t happen before the very last game, the final).Ā
Tumblr media
But why ? If Karasuno loses, they NEED to achieve something big, they have to be remembered by everyone, they have to make a name, a solid reputation : Ā ā€œhey, thatā€™s Karasuno, the team that xxxā€. And how ? By defeating one of the strongest teams. As simple as that ! Karasuno loses the tournament but is now a big team. Thatā€™s the point.
So, if we use the hypothesis implying that Karasuno beats Nekoma (so they can reach Fukurodani), they will get to the 4th round.
I have seriously no idea about where to put Fukurodani in this. For the moment, itā€™s the only team (with Hoshiumiā€™s team Kamomedai) which we donā€™t know where they are placed in the brackets.
A quick talk about Hoshiumiā€™s team : if Furudate intends to continue Haikyuu after the Spring tournament, I think he presented us a future opponent. Hoshiumi is the current little giant, and I think Hinata cannot take his place at the moment. Hoshiumi is a second year, thatā€™s why, the following year will be his last one and Ā 1 : He will graduated and ā€˜let his nameā€™ to someone else, Hinata, and/or 2 : Hinataā€™s current level is not good enough according to me. He already shines, he has been noticed, but heā€™s not the only one.Ā
Furthermore, in chapter 245 you can see Karasuno watching Kamomedai, and at any moment they talk about them as an upcoming opponent, but it isnā€™t very important and meaningful I think.
I take back the hypothesis where Karasuno loses nationals. If it appears to be true, the only teams, for me, Ā which can defeat them (not according to their power but to the plot in general) are Fukurodani, Itachiyama and Kamomedai.
For Kamomedai, I still believe, like I said, that they wonā€™t play against them, but who knows ? They can be the second strong opponent after Inarizaki. But I donā€™t want to believe that Karasuno will face all the team we know one after anotherā€¦
If itā€™s Itachiyama, it will be the final. End of the story.Ā
About Fukurodani : I think they are the most likely to beat Karasuno but Iā€™ll talk about it later.
PART TWO - ROUND 4 AND MORE
Now Iā€™ll quote what can happen, if Karasuno beats both Inarizaki and Nekoma :
A. They reach the final VS Itachiyama. At that point I donā€™t know what can happen. Itā€™s already not realistic for Karasuno to go that far (you can say itā€™s a shonen manga and stuff but Haikyuu is FUCKING REALISTIC), so I donā€™t know.Ā But if it happens, I donā€™t know which team is the most likely to win. In that case, the semi final will probably be against Fukurodani (seriously, I canā€™t believe they wonā€™t play against each other)
B. They reaches the final but itā€™s NOT Itachiyama. Here we donā€™t know where Fukurodani and Kamomedai are placed in the brakets, so for me itā€™s one of them, but Iā€™d bet on Fukurodani (I write about it below). In that case, they have to beat Kamomedai/Fukurodani first, then play against Fukurodani/Kamomedai. But either way I donā€™t think a Karasuno vs Kamomedai final game is a good choice for a fucking final. We barely know/fear/talk about them. Besides, I donā€™t think it will be another team because it has to be a team we know. It canā€™t be that interesting otherwise (But Furudate has some great writting skills so who knows).
C. Karasuno loses before the final. I think it will be Fukurodani because they have to play that match, and also for the reason Iā€™ll write below. Nuet there is plenty of teams soā€¦
In the case where Fukurodani is in Itachiyamaā€™s side of the brackets, they need to beat them in order to get to play against Karasuno. The fact that Karasuno will already play against a strong team, Inarizaki, makes be believe that we donā€™t need Itachiyama as Karasunoā€™s opponents anymore. And we need Karasuno vs Fukurodani. Also the only players we know are Sakusa and Komori their libero, and theyā€™re both second years, so if Haikyuu continues after this, they might be their main opponent the year following, maybe ?
PART THREE - Ā Karasunoā€™s last game
Which means the final, or the match they might lose.
In both cases, I think their opponent will be a team we already know, and quite well, thatā€™s why Iā€™ll first talk about all the main teams in Haikyuu as a comparison.
The very first big team Karasuno has to defeat (official games) was Seijoh. Furudate took his time to introduce them with a practice match, but moreover, Oikawa arrived at the end of the game (to make his character very special, to show his strengthā€¦). Seijoh ended up to be the team that had defeated Karasuno (the first time), then the second time, they had managed to defeat them.
Nekoma was introduced with a practice match as well. No more to say because, since the beginning, we know why Nekoma exists as an important opponent for Karasuno. Fated Rivals.Ā
Shiratorizawa : Here itā€™s becoming very interesting. Weā€™ve known them for quite a long time before the encounter, (Iā€™m a bit lazy to re-read everything, sorry about that). We knew that they beat Seijoh, that theyā€™re the strongest team in Miyagi. But most importantly Hinata and Kageyama met Ushijima, and that was a super powerful meeting. With a few words exchanged, Shiratorizawa has become a huge rival for both of them.
Tumblr media
If a team can defeat Karasuno, or playing the final against them (winning or losing, but it will be Karasunoā€™s last game), it has to be a team that deserved such an introduction.
Hinataā€™s meeting with Hoshiumi was indeed powerful (not like Ushijima of course).Ā
Tumblr media
Plus, Kageyama knows him as well (well he knows everyone since his training camp, what a popular kid).Ā
Kamomedai can be that team. But I wrote some ideas above about why I donā€™t think Karasuno would play against them. Or maybe after Nekoma and, why not, theyā€™d win, but it would be weird (see what I wrote above, Hinata canā€™t be the little giant if Haikyuu continues after this tournament).
The other teams, Itachiyama included, hasnā€™t been introduced that way. Thatā€™s why I donā€™t think it will be one of them.
The only team left is Fukurodani.
So Iā€™ll probably get carried away but here are some reasons why I think Fukurodani might win nationals, or at least defeat Karasuno (and I think the team that might beat them is the one thatā€™s gonna win at the end, for satisfying reasons, especially if itā€™s Fukurodani)
For me, if Karasuno loses, like I said, it has to be against a team that we know (thatā€™s why I didnā€™t put Kiryuuā€™s team in this), and Furudate has to make the readers not too sad/angry/disappointed about their loss, so it has to be not only a team we know but a team WE LOVE. And, in this situation, if Nekoma is defeated, itā€™s Fukurodani. Except if Furudate makes us love another team as much as the other ones (he did it with Shiratorizawa, Iā€™m still amazed how I managed to adore them in only one game). But for the plot, I think Fukurodani is the best choice. Furthermore, I support the theory implying Fukurodani winning nationals, many write good stuff about it so go read it if you hadnā€™t yet ! I still have some ideas about it :
When I discovered that team, I was wondering ā€œwhat is the purpose of Fukurodani ?ā€ According to me, it wasnā€™t just a good practice for Karasuno. Quickly Iā€™ve started to think that Fukurodani has been introduced as the future winner of the Spring High. Or at least the team that might stop Karasuno. Either way, why are they there?
All the other members such as Konoha, Komi, and basically the whole team are getting more and more development. Itā€™s not ā€œThat funny/strong team with Bokuto and Akaashi as nice charactersā€, itā€™s a whole team now. Donā€™t tell me all the third years have been introduced and developed only for nothing ! They will play against Karasuno sooner or later.
Bokuto and Akaashi themselves have gotten more development, especially after chapter 244. I think, with that chapter, Furudate wanted to introduce us something new about them. We discovered that not only Bokutoā€™s moods are something serious (not only to make us laugh I mean, itā€™s very part of him, there might be something wrong), but also how much Akaashi cares (so their relationship got developed as well). I think Bokuto has some serious injuries inside him, and we will get a flashback hopefully. But I donā€™t really know about this, itā€™s more an argument on why Karasuno WILL play them. For me chapter 244 was an introduction. Bokuto is one of the most complex characters in the manga, so like I said, Furudate has probably a lot to say about him, and moreover, that fact means that Fukurodani isnā€™t just a random team. But it can mean as well that Karasuno wonā€™t face them, but we will follow Fukurodani during a longer match (but itā€™s a bit weird).
Karasuno has become stronger by improving and adding new weapons, and most of them come from the training camp. They tried all of those weapons during their last set against Fukurodani, which mean Fukurodani is the only team which knows those weapons. Besides there are different moments where you can see Fukurodaniā€™s reactions, quite interesting :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I meanā€¦ they can practice right ? This scene happened months beforeā€¦
Tumblr media
Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Iā€™m not really talking about how much Fukurodani knows them (not that much), but I think that they might reproduce what Karasuno did ! The quick, the liberoā€™s tossā€¦ Karasuno might have shown them some ideas ! Or at least, Fukurodani knows what they can do (not everything of course, plus Karasuno has evolved after this to)
(Thatā€™s why if Karasuno vs Fukurodani happens, itā€™s gonna be a fucking long game, maybe like Shiratorizawaā€™s, and probably Nekoma).
Also the fact that we still donā€™t know where Fukurodani is in the brackets. Foreshadowing, why ? We can be 90% sure there will be a Karasuno vs Fukurodani match, and if Fukurodani is on the same part than Itachiyama, we can deduce that the final will be against Fukurodani, Iā€™m sure of it. Also Fukurodani might be playing their second or third game against Itachiyama, like Karasuno plays Inarizaki. Everyone gets its own strong opponent ! In addition, we know that Nekoma is playing ā€˜Hayarukawa techā€™, just for information.
Tumblr media
Anyway, not knowing about Fukurodani future matches means being unsure of whatever can happen to them, and no one can know the entire progress of the tournament.
Bokuto wants to be the best. Nekoma and Karasuno want the battle of the trash heap to happen, they want to face each other, while Fukurodani is justā€¦ there. Okay but the only reason we are following them that much now is for the readers. Neither Nekoma nor Karasuno have the huge desire to beat them. Weā€™re following Nekoma mostly because we need to know if theyā€™ll make it until the battle of the trash heap. So what is the purpose of Fukurodani in the plot ?
Bokuto is upset heā€™s not in the top 3. He wants more recognition. He wants to be praised. Fukurodaniā€™s only goal is to go the furthest in this competition (or maybe we donā€™t know their real motivation yet). So why not making them win ?
Fukurodani has already been to this championship. Karasuno (and Nekoma) are new to this event. Fukurodani can pretend to be the winner. I donā€™t know how many years they went to nationals, but I bet each year their goal is further in the competition. Thatā€™s why they can be willing to go further than Karasuno, in my opinion.
Furudate shows us since the beginning of the tournament that THIS WHOLE THING IS HARD.
Tumblr media
Look all the teams eliminated ! Itā€™s obvious, teams will lose, but it hit me so hard, the way Furudate threw this at us !
Tumblr media
ā€˜How difficult it is to survive throught day 2ā€™, said in general, not regarding to their next opponent.
Karasuno wonā€™t win it, and maybe Furudate is telling us ā€˜ Look ! Karasuno wonā€™t make it but itā€™s okay ! What theyā€™ve achieved is awesome ! This is hard so this is normal !ā€™
I think Fukurodani is skilled enough to go far in the competition. All the players are really good. So much potential for a great game against Karasuno) as well.
Bokuto motivates everyone, characters (His team but also his opponents), but also readers (most of us I guess). Thatā€™s why theyā€™d make good winners. No one will be disappointed. And we all want to see Bokuto (and Akaashi) exploding of happinessĀ Bokuto also has a lot of support as a player, admiration, and he seems to be an inspiration for everyone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The whole ā€˜If there is another team that manages to beat Itachiyamaā€™ thing, but Iā€™m not that convinced. Except that that way of thinking is the same than Bokuto, so maybe is it a sign ? Who knows ?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Itā€™s the same situation! Ā (and reactions ahah)
I LOVE FUKURODANI A LOT IS THAT A GOOD REASON
No seriously I wonder how popular they are in Japan, it can be an influence for Furudate. The ā€œbeloved trioā€ is Karasuno, Nekoma and Fukurodani (amongst the Sprin High tournament), and Fukurodani is the strongest of them, and a popular opponent can be a good opportunity for Furudate to make another team win without disappointing all his fans !
I donā€™t know how to conclude because itā€™s a lot of different ideas but itā€™s my theories ! Donā€™t forget it is only assumptions, ideas, and not assertions. Thanks for reading me ! (and sorry again for my English!)
(Or maybe Karasuno will win the tournament and all of this is useless, but if they do, I think there is no reason for Haikyuu to continue after it. And itā€™s totally unrealistic.)
