Speaking of shirt, another thing I avoided was thinking of their outfit designs. 😅 It's somewhere a little over a decade of timeskip since SU:Future and I'm sure at least one or two would've reformed during the time. So I'm gonna say they wanted to keep the vibe of a casual outdoors picnic-type event so they wore the casual themes.

A headcanon of mine is that L had a later growth spurt and looked way younger than he was~. I closed his age gap here a bit to demonstrate the contrast. This would be their ages if I were to indulge in a "growing up together" AU.

In season 3 episode 2 of Camp Cretaceous, do you have any idea why Ben didn’t have a swimsuit while the rest of the campers did? It always cracks me up that he’s just in his regular every day clothes.

Okay, this is just based on my sideways knowledge of this as a storyboard artist and not a designer/production person, but it was probably to save money, especially since Ben had already JUST gotten a completely new design in season 2 (and at that point the other characters had had relatively smaller changes with just their hair).

I think I've said it somewhere before, but the reason they don't get that many outfit changes is because most of the Nublar 5's design slots (or the budget for the number of new designs each season) got allotted to having different levels of dirt/grime/damage to their existing outfits and hair. And this also limited how often they could change clothes because their new outfits wouldn't have the same levels of destruction without spending more time and money to create them. I think whenever the characters got wet that even counted as an additional design slot?

Anyway, giving each of the characters an entire new design that would only be used once (their swimsuit looks) for just one episode was probably already expensive. I'm still kind of amazed we did it for any of them just for a single episode HAHA.
