Anyone else love fanfiction but hate romance

I seriously feel alienated here... It's so hard to find a fan fiction that I like, since most of them are about romance. I'm not saying romance is bad, if you like it that's your choice obviously, but I read fan fiction to explore different possibilities in specific works, things like continuations from the ending, what if [X] never happened, or just stories set in the same universe.

I'm seriously considering writing my own, just because I'm constantly imagining scenarios in my head that no one ever writes about...

To think of something so small and insignificant as leaves.

To think of anything as ‘insignificant,’ could that not be then thought of as arrogant? As though anything that lays across the ground is not important and because you, being a human being, have a divine right to walk across them; all because you own the ground? All because the ground is what we’ve always walked on. It seems like such a small and tiny thing, but in the big scheme of things, our lives are such tiny and small things. Compared to the life of a planet, or a star, we are nothing, but insignificant leaves, blowing on the solarwinds. We are nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing and yet we consider ourselves to be something; so much of something we even think we are the only something to be blowing on the solarwinds. The only leaves being frittered by in the soft evening light as you walk home from work. To definitively say that we are NOT the only leaves would be just as arrogant as definitively saying we are.
