CLOSED STARTER     //     for Loki   >>   @godguile
Jotunheim is getting closer and closer to Hel every day. The war between they and Asgard, lost, the source of their magic gone, left the world to begin to fall to ruin. Many Jotun had gone insane after the loss of the casket. Killed loved ones, even.
It cannot be said, however, that those who are left are not survivors. Divinity had made a name for himself as a hunter, whether man or beast. He did what he could to keep as many alive as possible, and did what needed to be down with the rest.
He's hunting now, days travel from any city, in snow which would kill any who weren't native to the cold.
He catches a whiff of smoke on the air. FIRE. Something exceeding unnatural on Jotunheim, and if his nose was right - he sniffs again - yes, there's the distant smell of something chemical about it.
With his sword drawn, he follows the scent, blue-white skin hidden by the snow until -
It's a ship.  A crashed one. There is a little one crawling out of it - could it be? He sniffs, and squints, his nose and eyes in opposition. The person, whoever they were, looked like someone of Asgard - a dangerous look to have - but they smelled like a Jotun. It’s confusing - they appear little more than half his height, and they look . . . but the scent is unmistakable.
He cocks his head, curious. Whoever they were, he could smell blood too. They must have crashed, and injured themselves.
Slowly, he stands, sheathing his greatsword.

" Hello, "   He says, in Jotun.
" You are hurt, little one. I can help you. "

His  knife  remains  trained  on  the  other,  following  him  up   until     he  lowers  himself  into  a  sitting  position  &  Loki’s  brows  furrow  in  confusion.  He  didn’t  appear  hostile.  Quite  the  opposite  in  fact.  Hard  for  him  to  comprehend.  His  entire  life  he  had  heard  stories  of  Jotun,  cold  hearted,  bloodthirsty,  needlessly  cruel  ━  monsters  who  sought  to  dominate  all  nine  realms,  raping  &  pillaging  them  clean  of  life  until  nothing  but  ice  &  desolation  remains.  That  was  why  the  war,   why  the  casket  could  never  be  returned  to  them.  He’s  never  questioned  this.  He’s  never  had  much  reason  to.
He  lowers  his  dagger  beginning  to  feel  slightly  less  threatened now.  just  as  well  given  his  hand  had  begun  to  tremble.  His  eyes  remain  fixed  on  the  figure  before  him,  still  distrusting.  He’s  listening  now,  the  pained  &  puzzled  expression  upon  his  face  unwavering.  He  supposes  if  this  one  was  going  to  act  friendly  he  could  try  to  return  the  favour  ━  after  all,  his  condition  makes  him  good  for  little  else.  Exhausted,  he  relents.

" You do understand me! "   The Jotun man lights up, offering a fanged grin that quickly shifts into a confused sort of a frown. Why are they so afraid?
" I am not going to hurt you. "   A quieter, more gentle voice. Perhaps - perhaps . . . if this Asgardian ( Are they Asgardian? They seem Asgardian, yet the tiny voice in Vin's mind, and the scent in their nose tells them otherwise. ) If this Asgardian had only met the soldiers of Jotunheim, he would be cautious too. They could be cruel - the entire royal line was cruel, and they encouraged it in their minions, and governments. Many who did not agree had fallen victim to their cruelty.
" You are hurt, Loki. If you will not let me help you, then please help yourself. I  will give you supplies if you have none. "   A compromise - it does not matter how it happens, but the little one needs healed. And then he offers something which, to his own mind, is much more valuable - information.
" You've met nothing but warriors, have you? The army and the guards. Or have you met a Jotun at all? You smell like us. "   He sniffs once, and tilts his head, curious.   " Did they hurt you here? Is that why you have crashed? Oh - hm - " He had forgotten he was supposed to be giving information. The little one is too curious, and he likes to understand things.
" I'm sorry. The guards are cruel to all of us. You'll find more kindness in the gutter. Amongst the poor. "   The little one seems to not trust him.   " . . . I will leave, if I must and leave my supplies with you. Will you heal yourself, then? "
