Meet S. M. Wilson, author of the THE EXTINCTION TRIALS - OUT 28TH DECEMBER
#1: Which book first hooked you into reading? As a child I read constantly - usually a book at day, and as an adult nothing has changed. Books are my vice. The ones I loved best were Beverly Nichols’ Wickedest Witch in the World (I still have my copy) and Enid Blyton’s Enchanted Wood and Faraway Tree books.
#2: Who was your first ever literary crush…and who's your weirdest? As a teenager in very cold Scotland I read a whole series called Sweet Valley High by Francine Pascal. It was set in sunny California with a set of blonde twins the heroines of every book. I think my first crush was one of the twins’ boyfriends Todd Wilkins. You have no idea how much I am cringing right now. As for weird? That’s easy. I am a sci-fi geek. I loved Star Trek The Next Generation and in case you didn’t know it, there’s a whole host of Next Generation books and fan fiction out there. Captain Jean Luc Picard can do no wrong in my eyes.
#3: You must successfully complete the Extinction Trials. You can join forces with four other finalists - real or fictional - from the literary world. Who do you team up with, and why? The first one absolutely has to be Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games. I want to live so she would be a good ally. Next up would have to be Snape. A wizard would always be handy and I’m far too old to pick Harry or Ron. There’s another heroine I love from Beth Revis’s Across the Universe books; Amy is smart and brave and Piloria would be a little different from a space ship. Last pick would be Jason Bourne. Dinosaurs would be scared of him. Robert Ludlum’s books really brought him to life for me.
#4: You’re about to embark on a mission to Piloria, but can only take one book. What do you pack? As I’ve told you I read a book a day this is like torture to me! I loved The Time Traveller’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger and The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox by Maggie O’Farrell, but if you’re forcing my hand I’m picking a fellow Scot; it’s got to be Iain Banks’ The Crow Road.
#5: You're booking a holiday to a literary location, real or fantastical. Where do you go? There is absolutely no doubt about this. Jurassic Park. Every. Single. Time. If you think the film is good, go read Michael Crichton’s book. Really. You won’t regret it.
#6: You can eat any meal described in any book; what’s on the menu? My favourite food is chocolate. That takes me to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Start me on the Wonka Chocolate Bar with the golden ticket then just roll me through the factory and let me dive into the Oompa Loompa Chocolate fountain and leave me there.
#7: A piece of extra-special swag can be made just for your book. What is it? I am still searching for a dinosaur emoji. That’s the one thing I want so I can use them in every message that I type!

"Alias and Deadpool actors are blessing Lucifer with their presence in season 6.
EW has exclusively learned that Merrin Dungey and Brianna Hildebrand have been cast in the Netflix fantasy procedural's final season — and both of their characters will have ties to the show's angelic family.
First up: Dungey — a.k.a. Alias' Francine Calfo — will play Sonya, "a no-nonsense uniform cop who forms an unlikely bond with Amenadiel [DB Woodside]" according to the official character description. Dungey most recently appeared on Big Little Lies, Man with a Plan, and CBS All-Access' Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Lower Decks.
Next, Hildebrand, best known as the Deadpool franchise's Negasonic Teenage Warhead, has been cast as Rory, "a rebellious, angsty, and ready-to-start-some-trouble angel" hoping to follow in original rebel Lucifer's (Tom Ellis) footsteps. Alas, she'll eventually "realize Lucifer isn’t exactly the devilish big bro she hoped he’d be." Hildebrand's other credits include Trinkets, The Exorcist, and Tragedy Girls.
It will be a while before we even meet these new characters, though, because we still have to make it through the back half of season 5, which was delayed due to the pandemic. When season 5B eventually does premiere, it'll dive into the aftermath of the midseason's finale daddy of a cliffhanger: God (Dennis Haysbert) descending from Heaven to break up Lucifer, Amenadiel, and Michael's (Ellis) brutal precinct squabble.
"It takes him back to a very primal place, and his feelings are very raw," Ellis, teasing how God's arrival will affect the Devil in season 5B, told EW in August. "I'm just so happy and so proud of what we've done. The first two episodes of the second half of season 5 are my two favorite episodes of the season, without a doubt."
The first eight episodes of Lucifer season 5 are available on Netflix now, with season 5B arriving eventually. Season 6 is currently in production."

Mardi 9 août. J-9
Just a very boring day.

After enjoying a successful career in marketing with Nike, Francine Picard rejoined her family’s Burgundy wine estate the same year that her brother did, too – at the end of the 1990s. Since 2010 they have cultivated a large part of their vineyards biodynamically and the rest with a keen eye to environmental consciousness. The goal being to cultivate vines that yield grapes that make wines that are of the highest quality, exhibiting magnificent precision all the while enjoying a harmonious relationship with nature.
The following wines are a privilege to enjoy. Most can be found in Paris and also at the family estate in Chassagne-Montrachet.
Domaine Famille Picard, 5 chemin du Château, 21190 Chassagne-Montrachet, France domainefamillepicard.com
NOTE:
For a real treat, reserve yourself a table for lunch or dinner at this new Paris restaurant where some of the more exclusive of these bottles are served in perfect accompaniment to the chef’s flavor pairings: La Table du Caviste Bio, 55 rue de Prony, Paris 75017 [email protected]
Le Domaine Famille Picard
A total of 6 domaines in Bourgogne. 136 Ha. 60% red/ 40% white
110 ha in the Côte Chalonnaise
26 ha in Côte de Beaune
41 ha of communales appelations

.33 ha of Grand Cru
Corton Grand Cru, Clos des Fietres, Millésime 2014 (rouge) Estate price: €130
These vines are cultivated biodynamically and are situated in the center of the celebrated village, Aloxe-Corton. Nose is wild forest strawberries, raspberries and red fruits with hint of coffee. Mouth is subtle possessing great suaveness and beautiful finesse. Then smoked ham, toasted bread, earthy and slightly saline.
Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru, La Garenne, Millésime 2014 (blanc) Estate price €66
These vines grow right in the village of Puligny-Montrachet at an altitude of about 250M. They have south-southwest exposure. These are 70 year-old vines and are cultivated biodynamically. Nose explodes with citrus bouquet of orange, lemon and grapefruit. Mouth expresses energy and balance in this slightly sea-saline and sapid; agreably flavorful.
Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru, Les Vergers, Millésime 2014, Estate price €66
These soils are filled with Chassagne stones, rich in minerals and white chalky marls. This climat dates from the last centruy only when fruit trees were once planted here. Fifty+ old vines cultivated biodynamically. Nose offers notes of flint-stone and citrus like lime and grapefruit. The Mouth has welcoming precision, agreeable notes and an enormity of finesse and elegance. It is aged 17 months in barrels and was bottled in April 2016.
Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru, Les Chenevottes, Millésime 2014 (blanc), Estate price €64
This vineyard is actually at a depth of 55 cm. The red soil has traces of iron oxide which hints at the remnants of a tropical ground covering from millions of years ago. 60+ year old vines cultivated with respect to the moon cycles of biodynamic viticulture. NOSE has peppermint, linden blossoms, verveine and some lemon and orange zest with a hint of vanilla. MOUTH plays with a tension between power and tension. Beautiful length and refreshing salinity.
Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru, Clos Saint Jean, Millésime 2014 (blanc) Estate price €60
This is one of the oldest climats of Chassagne. Soil is red from the iron-oxide and the vines have a Southeast exposure. All harvesting is done by hand of these 60+ old vines, tenderly cultivated biodyanmically. Aged 17 months in barrels and bottled in April, 2016. NOSE is fruits and white flowers like peach and pear and also fresh baked bread like brioche. MOUTH is generous with perfect acidity and balance.
