Tutorial - Hiding objects from the Build/Buy catalog - A slightly faster method for CCMagic users.

AKA Declutter your Misc Decor section!

So, I found tutorials on how to hide things from the catalog that requires manually opening and editing each package using s3pe, but I’ve found a somewhat faster way to do this, whilst keeping the original file unchanged, that I haven’t seen anyone else mention, so thought I’d share (I mean, someone else has almost certainly worked this out before me but I couldn’t find it anywhere). This requires CCMagic, and an understanding of how to make collections using CCMagic (very straightforward), and s3pe. Doing this will mean you can find all the items in collections, but they won’t be clogging up your catalog, eg Misc Decor (I had to do this as my Misc Decor had become so full, it often crashed my game when loading haha).

(This is also possible if you manually merge your CC, but you will have to add them to collections however you do that without CCMagic, I assume in game.)

Now, this is still a rather tedious process, and goddamn if someone could just create a program to do this for us I would die of gratefulness lol. But anyway, it’s still faster than the other method. And hey, maybe this will help someone 😊:

Step 1:

For this method, you need the CC you want to hide to be in their own CCMagic folders. If there are any files you don’t want to hide in that folder, I suggest temporarily moving them to another folder until you’ve extracted the files needed. For this example I’ll be using my ‘Misc Ornaments’ folder. You will need to have the objects in a collection, otherwise you won’t be able to access them in game lol. That’s kinda the point of this 😂

Make sure to hit rebuild if necessary!

Step 2:

Open up your Mods folder and then find the folder for the set you want to hide. So for me, that was F:\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Cache\Sets\Misc_Ornaments. Inside that folder, there will be a package named something like ‘ModBUILD0′. Open that with s3pe.

Step 3:

In s3pe, sort all the files by ‘Tag’ and find all the ‘OBJD’ files. Select them all and Export them as a package. Name the package something useful (like mine lol; Misc_Ornaments_Hidden.) (I then later renamed the packages to be ‘Hidden_’ first to make things more organised lol)

Step 4:

Open that new package in s3pe. Now this is where things start to get super tedious, and the same as other tutorials for hiding CC. Select each item, and open ‘Grid’.

Under ‘CommonBlock’, find ‘BuildBuyProductStatusFlags’. Now, you can either manually change ‘ShowInCatalog’ from ‘True’ to ‘False’, or change ‘0x61′ to ‘0x60′ (if the code is different, which as far as I can tell it shouldn’t be, then just change the flag manually to ‘False’).

Then find ‘MovementFlags’ and either manually change ‘HandToolCanDuplicateWhenHiddenInCatelog’ to ‘True’, or just change 0x00000000 to 0x00000020. (I have seen some with  0x00000002, just change those to  0x00000022, or manually change the flag to ‘True’.)

Hit Commit. Now do this for ALL THE OBJD files. Like I said, this is the tedious bit, but it’s still faster than doing this for each and every package separately. For example, it took me about 10-15 minutes to do a packge with ~100 files in it, vs however the fuck long it would have taken me to find and edit each package.

Step 5:

Save the package, and move it into your Overrides in your Mods folder. Now, in theory, if this worked (it did for me anyway lol), this override should hide the items, but the original package files are untouched! And if you ever want them to show up in the catalog again, you can just move this file out of your overrides, rather than have to edit the files again!

Step 6:

Repeat this for all the folders of CC you want to hide! Ta-dah! All these objects can now be found in whatever collections you put them in, but hidden from the catelog! Yay, no more clogged up Misc Desc! Woohoo!!!

Now, for some bizarre reason, your game *may* tell you that some items were missing and have been replaced, but even if it does, they were literally replaced by themselves, so it’s fiiiiiiine.

If you aren’t using CCMagic and you manually merge your packages instead, you can export the OBJD files from your merged packages and do the rest of the steps the same, but you will have to manually add all the CC into collections beforehand, I assume in game as I don’t know of any program that just makes collections for you?

here is a perspective flip of "when all else has deserted me, surround me like an ocean" (a favorite of my titles btw)

(I did have to reread this fic to remember all the nuance, but basically for anyone else who has forgotten like the goddamn author did, anakin is captured, imprisoned, force-suppressed and then wounded when obi-wan comes to save him. obi-wan then donates most of his midichlorians to make sure anakin survives, but it leaves him with terrible chronic pain. it also leaves anakin with a bit of a guilt complex and even more love for his master than he had at the start.)

Anakin doesn’t even look like Anakin in the fluorescence of the hallway.

Obi-Wan is heaving breaths, blood drying on his face. Not his own. Mercenaries. Or guards. It doesn’t matter. He’d been right.

It had come as a dream, that Force vision. One moment Obi-Wan had been sleeping and dreaming of his padawan and the next it felt as if his master, Qui-Gon Jinn was next to him. Zuylen, he’d heard whispered around him. He’s on Zuylen.

They’d made it here within a day, and Obi-Wan had led the charge into the facilities on the moon. He couldn’t feel Anakin, but he’d turn the building inside out before he left just to make sure. And the men—the guards—they’d fought like they had something to protect.

It was no match for Obi-Wan though, who has been fighting like he has nothing to lose. He doesn’t. Losing Anakin had been akin to losing everything.

Seeing him now—outside the doors of what must have been his cell—feels like the cruelest punch in the kidney. His padawan is haggard, his eyes dull and almost lifeless. He isn’t struggling much at all in the guard’s hold. He’s wearing rags and the thickest, heaviest force suppression collar that Obi-Wan has ever seen.

Rage like he’s never felt before swells up in Obi-Wan’s stomach and the Force screams around him. He’s never taken pleasure in a kill before, but his fingers itch to run this man through with his lightsaber.

“Stay back or I’ll kill him!” The guard cries. He sounds afraid. He should be. He should be terrified. He’s the only thing standing between Obi-Wan and his padawan.

Ahsoka tenses beside him. He can’t even think about how she’s feeling about seeing Anakin—seeing Anakin like this—because all he can focus on is the lightsaber the guard is holding to his padawan’s neck.

It moves down to his middle when Anakin squirms. Anakin is looking at him. He looks…surprised. No. He looks wounded but joyful but exhausted. He looks like a stranger. He looks like he’s given up.

Obi-Wan is raising his hand before he can stop himself. The Force whips around him. He’s done this to droids before.

It shouldn’t feel any different to do this to a human.

It’s terrifying that…that it doesn’t.

He snaps the man’s neck with the Force, the same way he’s collapsed droid bodies into themselves.

But—the man must have been able to tell his intentions. He must have been able to know his death was inevitable. Because a half second before—he flicks the lightsaber on. And it skewers Anakin through the middle.

Both the captive and the guard collapse to the ground. Only one is dead.

Everything slows down around Obi-Wan. He stumbles forward and then runs to his padawan.

He hadn’t been fast enough—once again—again, he had been just a few seconds too slow—

Anakin is unconscious, but he’s breathing. Barely, but he is. Obi-Wan’s own breath heaves through his chest. He knows there are others in the corridor, some even trying to talk to him, but he can’t pay them any mind. Anakin is in his arms. Anakin is dying.

Anakin is almost dead.

No, no! He won’t allow it. He can’t. They’d come this far, they’d found him and now he’s going to die? Obi-Wan wants to die. He feels as if he’s the one who has been stabbed. His hands are red with Anakin’s blood and his cheeks are wet with tears and this can’t be happening, this can’t.

He uses the Force to rip off the collar around Anakin’s neck, desperately feeling for a pulse.

“General, we need to—”

Whatever noise he makes isn’t human as he twists himself away from the trooper, leaning protectively over Anakin’s body.

He’ll heal quicker now that he has access to the Force. Right?

But he’s so weak. He can feel the bond in their mind failing as Anakin slips away, even as Obi-Wan presses their foreheads together and tightens his grip on him.

He needs….Anakin needs….

He’s been so long without the Force. He needs to—to feel it more—he’s so weak—but Obi-Wan is strong, Obi-Wan is healthy—

Anakin, take it, he knocks their heads together desperately. Take my strength, take the Force through me.

Around them, the Force quiets for a second, as if deliberating. But she must love her son. She must love Anakin almost as much as Obi-Wan does.

He can feel it in his body, the change. It’s almost immediate. He weakens, wilts, and presses his lips to Anakin’s forehead as the Force weakens around them. Anakin’s pulse is stronger.

Is Obi-Wan dying? Is there more color to Anakin’s skin now? His pulse is stronger. His pulse is stronger. If Obi-Wan…if Obi-Wan dies here and now, if he forfeits his life so that Anakin may live, then he dies with that knowledge.

Anakin’s pulse is stronger.
