One of the(many) things that bugs me about this fandom when it comes to Nettles is how even mentioning her relationship with Daemon is considered “reducing” her role to just being that of his "love interest.” This idea is ridiculous to me because it’s promoting the same thing that they accuse Nettles x Daemon shippers of(aka stripping down her characterization).
Yes, Nettles is her own independent character with her own story that ends and begins outside of Daemon, but he is a part of her story.
Her relationship with him is just as important as being an orphan bastard (non-Valyrian) girl from Driftmark, the only dragonrider of Sheepstealer(and probably the last dragonrider for 200 years), or a fire witch to the Burned Men. All those aspects make Nettles Nettles. She is more than one thing and romantic love doesn’t detract from it. It only adds another layer to her characterization.

isn't it odd how you don't see many Shuri fans at all ship her with Namor - it's all been either Riri or just having her stay single. meanwhile nearly every Namor simp ships him with Shuri. it's almost as if they don't actually care about her character at all and just want someone to project onto🤨🙂 like yall ain't fooling anyone be so fr💀🤡

Not to be this post on main (again), but I'm still genuinely annoyed with how Infinity War treated Wakanda (and more so at that one person who accused me of whining about it; that was genuinely rude). I'm not even mad at the Cap characterization anymore. If the Russos wanted Steve to clown his way to Wakanda like "Hey, we want all your soldiers to protect one android so we don't have to kill it for the good of mankind," that's fine. But I really think it was a missed opportunity not to have T'Challa fight back at all.
T'Challa in the MCU is very wise and understanding, we see him open up Wakanda's resources to the world in Black Panther, and I feel like this would have been a great time to see him say, "No, I'm still the king of a country that is important to me, this is not an acceptable use of us."
To put the first paragraph in a fair context, initially the goal was to reprogram Vision so he can survive without the stone, so at least before Shuri said "This is going to take forever to do; literally buy me as much time as you can," one can argue he didn't have as much reason to put his foot down. Up until that point, it could just have been a matter of letting Shuri push a button, untangle Vision from the mind stone, and then they can destroy it and everything's fine.
But once it is a matter of buying time pretty much indefinitely, either T'Challa or Okoye needed to take issue with the idea of Wakanda's armies being seen as expendable while British Android is treated as indispensable.

Hi! May I request a character profile for Shuri Udaku from Black Panther? If that is alright with you.
Tumblr media
𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐞: 𝑆ℎ𝑢𝑟𝑖 𝑈𝑑𝑎𝑘𝑢 ✨
𝐌𝐁𝐓𝐈
𝑬𝑵𝑻𝑷 | 𝑇𝘩𝑒 𝑇𝑟𝑎𝑖𝑙𝑏𝑙𝑎𝑧𝑒𝑟
Shuri is Wakanda's youthful tech genius. The one people look to for new technology, for updates, for ... protection. She's innovative, creative and headstrong. Also incredibly stubborn and passionate; Shuri really is a goddamn trailblazer.
𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐋 𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐍𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓
𝑳𝒂𝒘𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝑵𝒆𝒖𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒍
Yes, I know a lot of you weren't exactly expecting that. Shuri often breaks the rules, she is chaotic, which my first thought was - Chaotic Good. But she loves Wakanda, she loves her family and she has done everything to keep those traditions alive.
While Shuri respects these traditions and values, she is also shown to be open to change and adaptation.
𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐎𝐓 𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐃
𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒏
Upright: Manifestation, resourcefulness, power, inspired action Reversed: Manipulation, poor planning, untapped talents
The Magician card represents Shuri's resourcefulness, creativity, adaptability, and her ability to wield her knowledge and skills to bring about positive change.
The Magician card represents manifesting one's intentions, creativity, resourcefulness, and the ability to harness the powers of the universe to bring about change.
Shuri embodies these qualities through her exceptional intellect, technological prowess, and innovative mindset. She is a masterful inventor and scientist, constantly creating and utilizing advanced technology to serve her nation and protect her people. The Magician card also signifies adaptability and versatility, which are evident in Shuri's ability to quickly adapt to new situations and come up with creative solutions.
𝐒𝐔𝐍
𝑨𝒒𝒖𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒖𝒔
Aquarius is often associated with innovation, intellect, and a forward-thinking mindset. Shuri's technological expertise, inventiveness, and desire to push the boundaries align with some of the traits commonly associated with Aquarius.
𝐌𝐎𝐎𝐍
𝑮𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒊
Gemini is known for curiosity, adaptability, and versatility. Shuri's ability to quickly adapt to new situations, her multifaceted interests and talents, as well as her quick-witted and communicative nature, definitely remind me of Gemini - especially in her moon aspect.
𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆/𝐀𝐒𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐍𝐓
𝑨𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔
Aries individuals are often characterized as confident, independent, and driven. Shuri has so much goddamn drive; it's ambition mixed with passion and that's Aries. Shuri's assertiveness, leadership qualities, and her willingness to take charge made this a pretty easy choice.
𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐘
𝑮𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒊
Shuri is like a lightning bolt; offering opinions, ideas and insights in the blink of an eye. With her agile mind, and ability to process information so quickly, all align with the qualities associated with this aspect. (Sidenote: Shuri would actually make a great Doctor Who!)
𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐔𝐒
Okay so this was really difficult because it's totally upto interpretation. I couldn't choose between Gemini, Aquarius or Aries for her Venus aspect. But ultimately, I've gone with Gemini. I know you might be thinking, 'jesus she's chosen gemini for so much,' but Shuri is like ... the embodiment of Gemini.
𝑮𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒊
With the ever so fleeting moments of romance she had with Namor - Shuri brightens up when they're on the same communication level. I think there would be something about engaging conversations and a partner who can keep up with her quick-wittedness and diverse range of interests. Shuri would be attracted to individuals who can engage her intellectually and stimulate her curiosity.
𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐒
𝑺𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒖𝒔
Sagittarius is associated with adventurousness, enthusiasm, and a desire for freedom. With a Sag Mars, it shows that Shuri possesses a thirst for knowledge and a drive to explore the world around her. Her actions are guided by a sense of purpose and a desire to seek truth and wisdom. Shuri is an energetic and optimistic individual, always seeking new experiences and pushing her boundaries.

Still cooking up that Princess Shuri and Eden Fesi archive + blog, but in the meantime:
"This is ridiculous. Stultifying.
Those were the only adjectives Shuri could fathom to describe the contents of the American periodicals Ms. Marvel had proudly spread out on her countertops the last time the Princess visited her."
I made a footnote of comic books to check out to learn more about these characters! To get their characterizations or references, I highly recommend checking them out! A little other media trivia is there, too. 😊
Shuri's relationship with Ms. Marvel:

Manifold being the key needed to reach Shuri on the Djalia plane/Shureden's library talk about it:

Examples of shureden parallelism in story and personality (their akin personalities, aspirations, and traumas):

These aren't everything (at all), but just a few images. The rest is for the masterpost. 🤭
I finally braved freeing a one-shot from my Google Docs draft jail because A) they're worth it, B) they give me brain rot, C) it's how I cope with Marvel slow burning me with them to death since 2016, D) if Marvel or others won't explore them more, I will!

Written for the @sambuckylibrary summer bingo prompt: Beach Day! Had to get one more in under the deadline.
Rated T, gets a little suggestive at the end
Okay so ages ago @katatonicimpression posted about Sam getting a Captain America 'suit' from Namor that was actually a speedo and well... (Funnily enough, I had not seen the original tags on the post until I was done with this story. I agree: Bucky would be fuming)
Namor's characterization in this kind of melds the MCU with the comics, since we didn't really get to see a lighter side of him in BP:WF. ("Or you could just wear a suit" joke line, my beloved)
(Sea) Star Spangled
Bucky had brought this upon himself.
He didn't usually like to take responsibility for things that had even a slightly contested origin. He thought he'd had plenty of shit laid at this feet egregiously, so, no Sam, it was not his fault there was only a swallow of milk left in the jug in the fridge.
But this one... This was his fault.
("You're welcome, self," he also thought.)
Here's the thing. He knew Shuri had told him about another actor, another nation, another hero who dealt with Vibranium. But, to be fair to himself, things had been pretty hectic for the both of them at the time and she'd said this guy lived under the ocean, so he really wasn't Bucky's priority. And, in this brave new world of "supervillain" teammups and consequent subterfuge, Bucky hadn't thought about the fish guy, merman, aquaman person since that brief mention.
By the time mermaid Barbie did catch up to him, Bucky had been at this game long enough to be practically working for Shuri instead of de Fontaine. She and he had worked out a nearly flawless repertoire of information sharing without getting caught and Bucky was pretty sure his new bosses were none the wiser. It had been Shuri who'd told him about an odd deposit of vibranium in the shallows and sandbars of a remote beach island.
Bucky had been investigating that lead when he met the submariner for the first time.
So, hey, maybe he could actually blame this all on Shuri.
It had been harder to convince Namor that he was a friend, not a foe. The alliance between the Atlantean and Shuri was evidently not as steadfast as Shuri had led Bucky to believe those weeks ago. Namor was intense and smarter than most people Bucky had been dealing with recently. (Shuri obviously excluded) He nettled and prodded at Bucky and his story for hours. Sharks literally started to circle at one point and Bucky had to let the Atlantean know that his threat was received perfectly clearly.
When all was said and done, when Namor was reluctantly on board with the plan though not any happier about it, when Bucky's research vessel was so thoroughly destroyed he didn't even bother trying to fish pieces out of the water, Namor took him to shore and asked who should be contacted.
Bucky had said the first name that came to mind.
Hours later, when the sun had scorched Bucky's chest, shoulders, and face, Sam appeared on a boat. Because of course he knew how to drive a boat. Bucky knew that and yet his heart still tripped over itself in his chest to see him looking like some dashing privateer. A privateer in board shorts at any rate.
Sam read people better than Bucky did. Bucky was great at threat assessment, but that was usually as far as his skills went. (Barring his ability to get free sweet tea from his favorite waitress) Sam knew how to work any angle on any person. He knew to show up dressed down instead of in his full Cap gear. He knew to cut the engine well before the rudders could damage the shoreline kelp life. He knew to approach Bucky and Namor with a somber but not cowed cadence to his steps.
Steve told a story constantly about the first time Sam met T'Challa. About his nigh on irreverence and familiarity. Bucky could see him assessing now if that kind of banter would work. In the end, he went for the safer route, turning his attention to Bucky and narrowing his eyes. "What did you do?" he asked.
Bucky wouldn't say Sam and Namor got on easily. Namor was not as quickly swayed by Sam's pervasive charm and ready smile and moral dignity. But the half-snarl curl of his lip had disappeared and the tension in his shoulders ebbed the longer he and Sam talked. Sam was good at this, winning people over long enough to rectify a situation and get back out of it.
And he did get Bucky out of it. Bucky got an earful on the ride back to some place with a plane, but it was worth it once he got into the cabin and out of the sun.
The next time it happened, Sam showed up in his Captain America uniform, and Bucky felt vaguely betrayed that Sam had been doing real Captain America things without him. The conversation between Namor and Sam flowed more easily as Bucky's shoulders continued to sunburn.
The THIRD time was not Bucky's fault. In fact, Bucky found Sam and Namor already in the midst of a fight that they had started in the shallows off an uninhabited island. Surprisingly, Bucky's new bosses weren't involved, so Bucky had no idea what was going on, but people were throwing spears at Sam and that was unacceptable.
The fight didn't last much longer after Bucky joined. Sam and Namor had had it mostly under control before he showed up, so the extra brute force only helped. The combatants disappeared into the water exactly like the sea monsters of his childhood stories.
"What are you doing here?" Bucky asked Sam so he didn't have to think about what else lurked in the water. He did follow Sam out of the shallows quickly though.
"Your friend picked up your bad habits," Sam answered in a half-teasing, half-stressed kind of way. He wiped his face free of salt water.
Namor scowled at him. Bucky wondered if his own scowls were that unconvincing. It was kind of impossible to actually get angry at Sam. "He is not my friend and I did not call you for help. You stopped yourself."
Sam shrugged. "You looked like you were losing."
"I do not lose!" Namor insisted again.
"Well, hey, next time you aren't losing and don't need help, you know how to reach me," Sam said with a grin. And then, to Bucky, he added, "We share seagulls!" A phrase Bucky completely did not understand.
The next time Namor showed up, Bucky hadn't even bothered him. He and Sam had detoured away from their return home from a mission because they were flying over Nassau and neither of them were passing up the opportunity for a beach vacation. The first two days had been flawless. But that night, tangled together on a high sandbar during low tide, a sudden wave, tall enough and dense enough to blot out the moonlight, crashed over them and left fish and kelp and so much salt water in its wake. It practically flooded the sandbar out and left bits and pieces of their uniforms floating in the water.
"I can see you!" Namor called from somewhere far away, or maybe right under the water. Bucky could never tell. "Go elsewhere!"
And yet. AND YET. They were here now.
Maybe he could actually blame Namor. Thinking about it again, he could definitely blame Namor. Bucky had only accidentally introduced him and Sam. Namor had done this.
"It looks pretty good right?" Sam laughed, smoothing a hand down his perfect body that Bucky should really be napping against right now instead of suffering in the middle of the ocean. How was he actually glistening? He wasn't even wet. What was this golden glow? There was cloud coverage.
It was about the only coverage on this boat.
For an ocean where a battle had just raged with too many combatants and interests at play for Bucky to keep straight, the sea was calm, the sun warm, the bird call familiar. It could almost be any other day on the boat. Except for the blood growing tacky in Bucky's hair and the bruise sprawling down Sam's shoulder and back. He needed to get an ice pack on it.
Actually, he needed to put a shirt over it.
"It is made of the same fibers as all of our warriors' clothing," Namor explained about the "outfit" Sam had quickly changed into. "Yours and mine are the same." And he looked entirely too smug as his gaze flicked to Bucky momentarily.
Despite joking about it, Bucky knew Namor didn't actually wear a speedo. It was shorts and he had fantastic thighs that would make any clothing look smaller. Those shorts--battle garments, his ass--were even smaller on Sam. They were practically molded to his ass. There was almost nothing down the back of his thighs. They were fighting for their life to cover his ass and stay around his hips at the same time. They were a dark navy with subtle, darker striping around one leg, not that anyone could tell because they were so damn short.
"If you're going to spend so much time on the water, you should be equipped to do so. No, Barnes?" Namor looked at him again and was definitely smirking. Suddenly Bucky preferred the scowl.
"Sam flies," he ground out.
"Yes. He's very impressive," Namor agreed. "And then he rescues you from the water all of the time."
Bucky ground his teeth together even harder.
"I know you have many suits for many different reasons. I just wanted to offer a gift of my own," Namor continued. "Talokan is grateful for your help and friendship." He reached out and clasped their forearms together.
Bucky seethed.
This was not a suit. This was obscene. There was a star right over the crotch, for God's sake. (Okay, slightly left of the crotch, whatever) Namor didn't even buy into nationalism. He hated it. It had been a huge point of contention until Sam had explained to him his own struggles with representing a country or ideal that outright rejected him over and over. If anything, this should just be navy. Plain. And longer, dammit. Bucky's brain was going to overheat. He needed to look away from that damn star.
"I appreciate it, K'uk'ulan," Sam said earnestly, like he wasn't standing around looking like a soft core poster. He bowed his head a little and held a hand over his heart. God, Bucky wanted to eat him.
Then Sam kicked his ankle and Bucky turned his irritation towards him. It wasn't enough to make him want to eat Sam any less, but it eased some of the burning need in his chest. Sam subtly tried to nod towards Namor, eyes wide and imploring.
With a sigh that gathered up all of Bucky's willpower, he turned to Namor and tried to ease the scowl on his face. "We will always help Talokan and the Talokanil," he said, and surprised himself with the honesty in his voice. He did really like Namor's home and his people. What of it he had come to see and understand. "I would rather help them than whichever evil bastards are trying to pull the reins up here."
The flash of gratitude over Namor's face was only that--a flash, but Bucky saw it and he tucked that information away. But it was too quickly replaced by a grin. "Then you agree. It is good that the captain now has appropriate dress."
The scowl got deeper by three fold and Namor's grin only turned more gleeful. And, oh. Namor hadn't put Sam in a speedo to leer at him himself. He'd done it to tease Bucky. The asshole.
"We should get Bucky one," Sam joked.
Bucky and Namor pulled twin grimaces, which made, Sam laugh and laugh.
"We need to head out," Bucky said to Sam. "We'll have a better chance of holding off alphabet agencies and suits if we're not right on top of the fight.
Sam frowned, tipped his face up to the sunlight because he was genuinely some kind of sun god and needed the replenishment as far as Bucky was concerned, and then sighed. "You're right," he agreed. "One day, we'll have to meet under better circumstances," he said to Namor. He offered his hand out to the not-merman and they did that gladiator hold thing again. Namor clapped a hand on Sam's uninjured shoulder.
"Yes, I agree. Alas, we both have people to protect and our enemies are becoming bolder. It doesn't leave much time for socializing."
Sam nodded his understanding and then hoisted his wing pack onto his back. He should really put on a shirt before using it, Bucky thought. And pants. "Come on, grumpycakes," he said to Bucky and offered out the harness they had developed together for exactly these kind of low stakes, short hops.
Sam gave Namor a lazy kind of salute and Bucky managed a cordial nod. Namor only offered another smirk and even a thumbs up. He was truly nothing like Bucky had anticipated.
Sam dropped them on the far side of the nearest island. They would have to await extraction--maybe island hop a few more miles away--but there was no rush. They hadn't called for help yet.
Bucky considered the fine white sand of the beach. It was soft and warm, verging on hot. He could lay Sam out right here and get those shorts off. But he remembered trying to untangle kelp from his hair, and discarded the thought. Instead, he walked Sam back into the tropical foliage several meters away and then sank to his knees without a word.
Sam's fingers fell to his hair, head dropping back to the tree behind him. Which was a shame because Bucky liked Sam's eyes on him. Liked to be able to look up and catch his gaze, see exactly what Bucky was doing to him based on the sparkle in his eye.
"Yeah," Sam agreed to their silent understanding in a breathy sigh. "We definitely have to get you some of these shorts too."

Character: MCU!Riri Williams
Type: Headcanons
Synopsis: Some general headcanons of mine for MCU’s Riri Williams!
Warnings: Some BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER spoilers if you haven't watched the movie
A/N: This is more MCU! Riri with a hint of comic book Riri, I personally combine them both in my characterization, but others may not and that's okay!!
Tumblr media
Riri may have a tough exterior but she’s literally the biggest softy. Of course, going to a school like MIT and being a black girl, there are people who wanna take her out of the game and she had to develop some thick skin on an elite campus like it. But when you peel back those layers, she’s really just a big goofball full of love and loyalty.
She doesn’t party or go out like that, at least not in Boston. She prefers Chicago nightlife a lot more, in spaces she’s more comfortable with. So when she is back home for breaks or just in general, she’ll be taking a stroll along the Magnificent Mile, the Lakefront, etc, just generally to clear her head
She doesn’t let just anyone into her work spaces. Granted, Shuri and Okoye kind of had to go to her Boston garage, but they’re the only two who’ve been inside it. Similarly, her garage at home (which is quite literally her mom’s garage that she converted to her own workstation) her mother only has access to it.
As an introvert she leans more into being a homebody. She doesn’t have friends to go out with or invite over, so she often spends time with her mom. They have a really good relationship, with her mother Ronnie supporting Riri’s aspirations no matter how far out they may seem
Riri listens to a lot of old school 80’s-90’s rap and R&B, with a sprinkle of current artists as well. Her most notably favorite artists are Tupac, Lauryn Hill, SWV, Queen Latifah, Flo Milli, J.I.D., WizKid, to name a few. (She won’t admit but she does listen to a bit of King Von...it gets her hype lol)
Her room at home has lavender walls and posters everywhere. She’s got a tapestry hanging above her bed and the corners of the ceilings are lined with artificial vines. In one corner there's a pile of metal she keeps telling herself she’s gonna go through and never does, and in the other is a butterfly chair stacked to the brim with stuffies. Everything has a place even if some people say it's messy; so long as she's able to navigate it, that's all that matters.
She uses slang wherever she goes with whoever she’s talking to - she doesn’t care at all. She could be talking to the president and she’ll still throw in a ‘bro’ or a ‘gang’ into the conversation. She gets shit for it from her mom sometimes but she’s learned to live with the fact that some people will just arent willing to understand her, and she shouldn’t have to stress about code switching with people who don’t even respect her
Definitely can walk through every block of Chicago untouched. People in the city know Riri, her name brings inspiration to thousands of kids who find comfort in science and technology. She’s a ray of hope. No one dares to touch her.
If one wants to start a friendship with Riri, they’d have to be taking the lead for a minute before she’s comfortable enough with you. Not to say she won’t put in effort, but she needs to feel you out to make sure you’re worth her energy
Once that stage has passed, though, she is a fiercely loyal person, coming to your aid whenever you need it. She’s very attentive, and shows her appreciation in acts of service and gift giving rather than verbally. Best believe you’ll never know or have another friendship as genuine as hers.

Hope ya'll know that E-138 isn't the Marvel Cinematic Universe or E-616 before it's spread around as "canon."
These aren't the same characters. It's canon to itself as a new alternate reality, and it's Shuri and Riotheart, not Shuri and Ironheart. 😭 Main comics Riri is still a 15 year old and Shuri in her 20s with a platonic-"sisterly" coded dynamic. This clearly is unconnected to the Wakanda Forever film, too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is still the characterization of Shuri and Riri's relationship in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or the mainline comics (Riri is 15 there):

I need to see Shuri and Namor get together in the future. Will it happen or do I need to brace myself?
Realistically, they have to JUMP through hurdles to get to a place where Nashuri could potentially happen. Her mother’s death is the most pressing issue bc loving him would mean living with what Namor did and i dont know if Shuri would be ready for that.
them being forced to work together is the way to get them to talk to each other and learn more. i mean look IT TECHNICALLY IS POSSIBLE.
Yet Disney/Marvel has a bad habit of killing off good ships by completely ignoring the previous characterizations and pairing them with some rando OR just killing one of them (USUALLY THE “VILLAIN” in the hero/villain ships)
I need to see Nashuri just as much as all of you do!
We might have to brace ourselves :/ but I’LL TAKE ANY CRUMB OF NASHURI I CAN GET MY HANDS ON ONSCREEN OR OFFSCREEN 😵‍💫💙

The realization of Falling in Love
This is part one of the Labyrinth mini-series, hope you all like it
Tumblr media
Shuri x fem!reader
You two were inseparable since you were kids. Everywhere Shuri went, you were there. Everywhere you went, Shuri was there. You two existed and were characterized as two peas in a pod. Some speculate that you two were together but were always told that you two were friends and nothing more, both unaware of the feelings they held for each other.
She was there when both of your parents were killed after accompanying King T’Chaka during a press conference about the Sokovia Accords. You were clinging to her as you both broke down, mourning the loss you both had that day.
You hold her as she sobbed during T’Challa’s death, whispering in her ear that everything will be fine and letting her emotions go until she feels fine.
When Shuri realized she was in love with you when one time you pulled her out of her lab, stating that the stars would look extraordinarily beautiful tonight. She believed you and let you drag her to where you two would stargaze.
When you both arrived, a blanket was already laid out on the field, indicating that you readied this beforehand.
Shuri was laying down on your lap while you were sitting up. Your hands dance between the strands of Shuri’s hair and she loved every minute of it. When she looked up and saw your beautiful face, feeling the air that kissed your face, she thought she has never seen such a beautiful face.
And then she thought, “Oh, oh, I’m falling in love.”
She couldn’t explain it. She couldn’t explain the sudden burst of warmth that crept into her chest. Suddenly the world stopped spinning, time slowed down and her eyes were set on you.
That night, it wasn’t only the stars that looked extraordinarily beautiful.
You realize you were falling in love with Shuri when you pulled her out of the lab and went stargazing. “Let’s go out and stargaze, please.” You pleaded with her, and luckily, she reluctantly agreed.
When you were talking and rambling about how your day was, you looked down and saw Shuri sleeping. You smiled seeing her finally taking a break from her lab. You ran your finger across her cheek, trying not to wake her up.
And then you thought, “Oh, oh I’m falling in love.”
You two were falling in love with each other without realizing you both are falling in love with each other.
Tumblr media
A/n: Yes another series and I haven't finished the Mirrorball series. Anyways, this is only a three-parter series, the other two parts need some finalizing but maybe I'll upload them today, idk.

Unpopular Opinion: Every time a black female character (especially if this black female character is dark skinned) enters into a relationship with the popular fan-favorite white male character usually one of three things happen a. the black female character is now headcanoned as a lesbian (never bisexual or queer or anything that would leave the character with the possibility of still entering into a relationship with a man) b. white male character is now shipped with other popular fan-favorite white male character/other white female character (the popular fan-favorite white male character is usually headcanoned to be bisexual and when he is, shipped with a woman that woman is always white) or c. black female character (and sometimes their actresses) is now being talked about as if they are the devil himself.
Wanting characters to explore their sexuality is fine but I always find it odd how this always happens when one member of the relationship is a black/blackish woman. *forgot to mention the suddenly polyamorous relationship the three (black female, white male and white male/woman) characters are now without a doubt in*
Anon you spoke nothing, but facts right here 🙌🏽
Tumblr media
(The only thing I’d add is that they don’t just do this when the woman in question is with a white man, see Namor and Shuri and the backlash some shippers got for shipping them).
You aren’t the only one who has been noticing this trend.
I say trend loosely because really just a new stereotype to add to the bunch😒
It would be one thing if it was a want for actual representation, but every time now like clockwork. as soon as they see a Black woman who looks like she’s going to have a romantic arc with said popular fandom man, boom she must be gay😑
Hell, it’s getting so bad that these shows/movies are automatically just writing their Black women characters in that way.
If people can’t see how this can be harmful/dangerous, that’s cool, but anytime you want to paint all of a group a certain way and won’t show them in any other setting, that’s how you end up birthing new stereotypes.
This isn’t creating diversity. It’s limiting it(once again).
It’s so all or nothing with our media representation. Black women don’t want to be shown as one thing(which seems to go right over most people’s heads).
We just want the same opportunities as everybody else and not to be put into one or two narrow boxes of acceptable characterization that doesn’t threaten the status quo(aka you can't have Black women looking desirable especially not when there is an available white woman right there next to her).

At the script lab! I think there was a post on tumblr under the namor tag that has the full link to the full scropt. I read the entire thing, THE MOVIE SHOULD HAVE BEEN THIS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THISSSS it would have been 4 hours long but i don’t care
Oooooof I just read through it and I now understand why they cut back on their scenes a bit. In fact after reading it, I'm even more impressed with the film.
The scenes between them during this movie at all cost appear very forced and takes away the beauty of their relationship we see in the film. Two of his most pivotal dialogues, the one about broken leaders and it could have been different weren't in the script. So I'm guessing that would have been added on later as the scenes progressed.
I'm glad they didn't paint him out to be this guy who held her hostage and then tried to seduce her because in my head that goes against his core philosophy of slaves and taking advantage of them?
So some of their dialogue is intriguing and I'm glad we got a taste of their tension that's between them.
In my experience, as cliched as enemies to lovers is, it's the most difficult to get right. Cause a slight mishap in the characterization and it will turn toxic. So I loved how their dynamic is in the movie. The glances, the understanding and their pain tying them together.
Both of them actually need time to understand eachother and get over their own biases. Some of the scenes have Namor like he's this guy with only one objective and make him look bland in some aspects, but in the movie and with the tweaks they've made, we get this great anti hero.
What I think we need from here on out is to see Namor's vulnerability. Black panther 2 is from Shuri's point of view and I am so glad they did not take that away from her. In the script, you can sense this imbalance of power, Namor is a god and Shuri is an enhanced individual at best. But in the movie, they get it right and portray them as equals really, that at the end of the day, they are just two rulers of their respective kingdoms. I'm glad they didn't make him this power hungry old man hahaha. I'm pretty sure some woman got thrown into the mix and we get the female gaze through this entire movie.
And my god! Taking just a couple lines on the sheet and then bringing this character to life? Tenoch Huerta is a godsend. His emotions and complications that he wove into his performance. Sheesh, I love him. All the other cast as well like woah you are all amazing.
But what I'm happy about is that I've got new material to feast on, digest and use in my fic hehe.
So the takeaway is that, the movie is my more preferred choice haha. It has been pieced together marvellously.
*Also the scene of him with the conch shell isn't in the script, so did Tenoch just improv it? If he did, I want to kiss his cheeks and tell him he's the live of my life 🤣

Hey remember when Shuri's personal beliefs regarding her people's religion and traditions were setup more of as light hearted joke in the first movie? Not totally dismissing it, but to show her characterization as this young girl who was more interested in her tech, Coachella, and memes?
And then Wakanda Forever's first scene shows her isolated, quietly praying to Bast, begging that she'll never doubt their existence again if they help save her brother? All that to immediately throw onto you what Shuri's internal struggle throughout the movie was going to be, seeing as how we knew what T'Challa's fate will end up as?
Because I think about it. I think about it a lot. I think about it as someone who is also going through their own spiritual journey

1, 21, 13 for the choose violence
1. the character everyone gets wrong
STEVE ROGERS. There's an overwhelming tendency to smooth down Steve's sharp edges and generally make him softer, sweeter, gentler, more innocent. This man is all sharp edges and while he's not always going to push himself past his limits, when he's holding himself back from them you can tell and it's -- it's very weird to see. It's most common in the ensemble films, like Avengers and AoU and Endgame, there's this air of like...restraint? And then the sharp edges come out when he gets too tired of holding himself back. One of my favorite Steve scenes is in CATWS, during the fight with Batroc, because it's a perfect kernel of Steve characterization. Not just the on va voir part, but the actual fight itself.
But also, like, Steve is mad ALL THE TIME. He's probably the angriest character in the MCU, Bruce Banner included. It's true from CATFA onwards. (I talk about his anger in CATFA a little in Horizon, so I won't reiterate it here.) I see Steve as someone who's always struggled with depression, and his anger is part of that, because he does have those lightning flickers from being functionally depressed and going through the motions to suddenly being blindingly, furiously angry -- Avengers is the most obvious example of this, but it turns up in AoU, CATWS, and CACW too; I don't think he ever hits angry in Endgame, though. He's functionally depressed but there's nothing in that film that kicks him into the anger side of it. (Caveat: my specific brainweasels function this way, which is why I read Steve's as doing so.)
also, uh, here is probably the really controversial read on Steve: there's a tendency in this fandom to give credit for anything and everything Steve does to his feelings about Bucky, and I don't...think that's true. yes, Steve cares a lot about Bucky, but it's a huge disservice to his character to say that Steve only went to Krausberg for Bucky or that he only crashed the Valkyrie because of Bucky or that he only destroyed SHIELD/HYDRA for Bucky or that he was only opposed to the Accords because of Bucky. sure, Bucky is a factor in most of those situations, but Steve would have done all of them anyway. give the man some credit for his own agency!
21. part of canon you think is overhyped
outside of this side of the fandom, probably Endgame, but that's a given. on the Tumblr/AO3 side of the fandom I don't think that's true at all lol.
in this side of the fandom -- uh, Thor, the first one. I've been going through Phase 1 lately and the first Thor film, which a lot of Thor and Loki fans I know feel very strongly about, is a chopped up mess -- I think it's the only film in the MCU that really, really suffers from having its deleted scenes removed, but even with those it's trying to do too many things at the same time and it can't give any of them enough space, plus its Asgard design is a hot mess -- TDW and later Ragnarok had to essentially bend over backwards to fix it. It does a lot of things very well, but it also does a lot of things not well at all. The Thor films are all inconsistent across the board, though; it's the weakest line in the entire MCU.
13. worst blorboficiation
I have THREE answers for this, all of which are bad in their specific ways, but for absolute worst: Tony Stark. I like Tony! He actually is a character I like! He is also super fucked up in ways that Tony fans just ignore or soften or whatever; the weirdest part to me is the desire to make Tony a ~soft dad to Peter, Shuri, Loki, Nebula...Morgan sometimes. This man took a fifteen-year-old kid to Germany to fight Captain America without telling him why, y'all. what about that says "good father figure" to you. he's also brutal to Bruce in IW.
the other two answers are Peggy Carter and Loki, which are pretty self-evident. I think I'd also actually put Natasha on this list, too, because she's another character who people really want to soften.

I should’ve known that you were a nashuri shipper. Why do you people insist on shipping a young woman with the man that took away her mother. One of her last blood-related family members.
I don’t ship Shuri with anyone, but I truly hope she gets a love interest in the future. So you nasty people can go away.
Like Shuri is more than Namor.
Tumblr media
Interesting 😭. My posts so far are furthermore about the characters and explanation of dynamics. What tells you that you "should've known" I was a nashuri shipper. The fact that I don't villify Namor? The fact that I don't want Shuri to become a murderer by killing him, thus sending herself, Talokan, and Wakanda down a destructive path? The fact that I fairly characterize and understand both characters, as Ryan Coogler intended it do be? The fact that I can objectively point out why someone may ship a particular Shuri ship (which is not limited to Namor x Shuri)? 🫨
I don't "insist" on shipping Namor with Shuri, let alone for that reason. If you want to know why some may ship it, if you're intelligent enough to read for comprehension, your question is answered here. In the beginning alone, you have several healthy and normal reasons as to why one may like the ship.
I didn't ask what you ship (interesting you had to preface that you didn't ship her, I wonder why), and you must be a fool if you think Shuri having a love interest will stop any sort of Shuri shipper. Have you ever been in a fandom before?
The funniest part about this is that I do like Shuri more than Namor. That's why I wrote an entire meta on her and how she is as a character. That's why I have a wall of merchandise of her and not a single Namor (yet). That's why she's my favorite character. That is why I defend her tooth and nail. That's why I spend my own money on official books just to get a taste of information regarding her. As a black woman, I especially hold a special place in my heart for her. I love her before I love potential dynamics with Namor or anyone else. I am happy if Namor and Shuri just get decent interaction as only allies. It's possible!
I'm sorry you don't have the mental capacity to understand that, and you'd rather attack people as passionate as you over shipping. I am also sorry that you are illiterate because not a single thing I said implied that Shuri isn't more than Namor. Fans like you are miserable and pathetic. An insane tumor to fandom. 🤯
Kindly, my asks are for other fans to ask me about the characters or what I think on certain topics. Not unhinged anon hate by rabid nobodies and so-called toxic Shuri stans who attempt to gatekeep a character they just grew attached to (and probably know little about outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe), performing childish theatrics over shipping. I don't go here, or will I start to. I'm not the one or the two. Take your ass somewhere else and reflect on yourself that you actually got mad enough at nothing (because there isn't really nashuri on my page) enough to switch on anon mode to send me hate. 😂
It really doesn't accomplish anything. It just makes me want to do what I do even more. I don't care if a faceless coward laughably thinks I'm a "disgusting fool" over a relatively vanilla ship (people behind the scenes themselves joked about it. Writers considered or thought that it was not a bad match even after the fact) that's only a "problem" due to special circumstances. You can just pick up a pen to reverse or address it (that's what fanon is for.) It makes me want to post nashuri meta and use the tags more to spite you (which I wasn't thinking to do), so congratulations if that was your goal?
Let this be a message to you (who I think I know 😉) and others like you. I'm still going to love what I love, and that includes Princess Shuri. Sorry that you don't co-sign on how I love her. 🤷‍♀️
