Trying to plan some pagan and witch zine collections in relation to perspective/experiences on different subjects.
(ex: how our practices fuel or inform our environmental activism or outlook, spells on that subject, tips, etc)
I'll be doing all of these at some point, just wanted to gauge interest here :)

Dissertation on Fanfiction Bookbinding — Looking for participants! [EDIT: Thank you so much, participants found!!!]
[Edit continued: I'm still sorting through emails and setting up meetings, will reply to everyone very soon, I can't even begin to thank everyone enough for the visibility that's been given to this 💜 I'll keep the updates coming as I work on the dissertation (and learn how to bookbind), in case anyone would like to follow along. For any questions about the research or comments/suggestions/resources about ficbinding, my asks are wide open. Thank you thank you thank you!!!]
Hi! My name is Marie Chevrier, I’m currently doing my postgraduate dissertation on fanfiction bookbinding, and I’m looking for people to talk to about it!
If you’ve ever taken a fanfic from somewhere online and turned it into a physical copy, either for yourself or as a gift, I’d love to know more. From printer paper stapled together to typesetting and painted edges, nothing is too simple or too complex — I’m interested in the whole process, what motivates readers or authors to bring the story to a different format, and how it’s one more way to interact with stories actively and creatively. This will be the final project of my MLitt in Folklore and Ethnology with the Elphinstone Institute (University of Aberdeen, Scotland).
What to Expect
To participate, you must be 18 or older and speak English. I’ll give you more details and answer any questions you might have via email, and will then set up individual video calls with participants (if you happen to be in North-East Scotland, we could also meet at an agreed public location). I’ll tell you more about the dissertation and explain how what you share will be used, which depends entirely on what you agree to, including if you would prefer your contribution to be credited or anonymised. I will ask you about your experience with fanfiction bookbinding and if you have some examples to show me, I would love to see them! Meetings will last approximately 45–90 minutes and take place in June 2024. You have the right to withdraw your participation at any time.
Contact Information
If you’d like to participate or have any questions, please send me an email at [email protected]
To know more about the Elphinstone Institute, please visit https://www.abdn.ac.uk/elphinstone/
To know more about me, here's an intro post for you.
If for any reason you don’t wish to participate but still have comments/suggestions/resources/musings you’d like to send my way, please do!

"if there is any man left alive here, speak up and tell me: who killed all this mighty force?" and the dead replied: "child, it was you."
Finally, some art?! Yes well actually I drew this one all the way back in May for The History Between Us, a fanzine, which is being organised by the fabulous @77yearsteam! It's going to be included as a print to go with the special edition of the zine, along with a ton of other fantastic merch - and if that wasn't enough, the zine itself is going to be SO incredible! I've already had a sneak preview and it's full of a ton of incredible stories and artwork from some, following these two disaster timelords throughout their long and complicated history. Pre-orders open on 7th October, so make sure you check it out!

From my zine "By Thy Shape" about beast-men, shape-shifters and queer monsters
The text is from Carmilla by J. S. Lefanu
Dearest, your little heart is wounded; think me not cruel because I obey the irresistible law of my strength and weakness; if your dear heart is wounded, my wild heart bleeds with yours. I live in your warm life, and you shall die -- die, sweetly die -- into mine.

OLD GODS - Illustrations of Finnish Wildlife and Folklore is now available in both Finnish and English!
The newest edition of OLD GODS just arrived and is now available! It contains the text in both Finnish and English - all in the same book! The contents between the different editions aren't drastically different, but some adjustments had to be done to the layout to make all the text fit. The new edition has 76 pages total while the English onely one has 72 pages.
The new edition will take over once the English-only edition has sold out, and for this reason I have reduced the price of the English only edition.
OLD GODS is a collection of illustrations about Finnish wildlife and the myths and beliefs related to different animals. The artwork explores the mystical nature of many animals and portrays each as as ancient Finn could have seen them.
This book features 30+ ink illustrations, each accompanied by a written introduction to Finnish mythology and folklore related to the animals. The book also includes a step-by-step process for one of the paintings from start to finish.
Available on my Etsy and shipping worldwide (apart from some exceptions).
My shop and other places to find my art!

🪡🧵Romanian women have been coding signs for ages. Their threads bind apotropaic symbols into scrolls of fabrics and garments, according to complex systems, which have been developing since the Neolithic ages. In this pocket size comics collection I tried to gather bits of the pixel's long forgotten story. The rough English version of the 36 page publication is available here >>> https://issuu.com/sorivazelina/docs/mostrar2_eng
To flip through the Romanian version please visit the exhibition, at the Peasant Museum in Bucharest, open till the 9th of January 2025. It was built as a reflection on a unique anonymous textile piece, discovered in the archive of the ASTRA Museum in Sibiu. The hyper-sensorial works, leading up to this marvel of over 200 embroidered motifs, belong to artists such as Aurelie Morillas, Marlene Herberth, Marin Raica, Sillyconductor, Anamaria Lungu, Atelier Vrac, all brought together by the Dala Foundation and Ovidiu Daneș, who has been saving the local architectural, intangible and natural heritage, together with his wife Luminița, for more than a decade, also via the CUCA festival.

In 2023, I joined @/maloviyua’s wonderful charity project called “Ukrainian Magical Academy” ✨
This project resulted in an art book, a zine "99 reasons (not) to enroll in UMA", and a bunch of merch that explore the idea of magic from our folk stories and how it might look in today’s world. It covers how magic would be used, where it could be taught, how it could fit into daily life, what magical fashion might look like, and so much more!
This autumn, thanks to @/malopus_comics publishing house, we finally had the chance to bring our project to life! It’s been a huge effort, and I’m really proud to have played a part in it. Plus, a significant portion - 75% - of the profits from sales will go to the charitable foundation @/savelife.in.ua, which supports the Ukrainian Defense Forces, helps save the lives of soldiers, and help us fight against the enemy.
The book has also been translated into English, so everyone can get a taste of the enchanting world of Ukrainian magic 😊

Strange Things Happen in Philadelphia collects six short pieces of illustrated weird fiction about the past, present, and near future of a vibrant city where anything can happen. Philadelphia is filled with decaying ruins and vibrant cultures, and these stories draw from a deep well of local folklore and hearsay.

A piece I made for Of Folk and Fable Tarot — a collaborative project where artists drew creatures and stories from their cultures. This is The Magician, as represented by Ivan Tsarevitch, the Fire Bird, and the Grey Wolf, a classic Russian/Ukrainian/Georgian fairy tale. I love me a good-hearted wolf shapeshifter!
The project has already been fully funded on Kickstarter (yay!) but give it a look if it sounds like your thing.
