Mind if I could have a SAGAU request? So the player is burnt out from the game. Like completely. Some characters find a way to your desktop and ask "Why haven't you entered Teyvat lately?" After explaining that you still like/love them, they are disappointed but understandable. Problem is, they can't go back until you launch the game. So the characters sort of become desktop buddies (Showing my age aren't I?) and perhaps helping you out in the various other games the player would play or just vibing as you surf the web, make arr, write stories, etc. As for the characters... Aether and Paimon at least, though adding Kazuha, Yanfei, Freminet, Bennett, Fischl, Childe, and Collei would be cute too.

Genshin Impact Desktop Buddies

Summary: In which your favourite Genshin characters miss you. 

Or now you have them as your desktop buddies until Genshin Impact is fixed.

Pairings: Aether & Paimon, Kazuha, Yanfei, Childe and Fischl x Neutral! Reader! 

Note: Desktop buddies are ancient now lol, but honestly such a cool thing to have back then. Hope you enjoy!

You’re tired. Like really tired. 

Grinding for artifacts, ascension and weapon materials has worn you out. That includes your wallet too.

They were worth it, no doubt about that, but staring at a screen all day every day could tire anyone out. 

And yea, you need sleep. 

For the first time in a long time, you decided to shut down the game, and take at least a few day break. 

It’s not like it would make a big difference right? 

Little did you know, it most definitely would. 

Just a few days later, not only did your laptop started acting weird to the point where you thought of buying a new one, Genshin also disappeared from your desktop. 

Before you knew it, you see little figures that look oddly familiar on your screen…

“Why haven’t you entered Teyvat lately?”

Aether & Paimon

The player spun around, eyes widening at the sight of Aether and Paimon now out of the game, and...hopping around on your screen.

"Aether? Paimon? How... how are you here?".

Aether stepped forward. 

"Our Creator, we've missed you. The others are worried. Why haven't you been to Teyvat?"

You sighed, has it already been a couple of days? Also, since when were you their creator? 

"I'm just a little tired-” There was a dramatic gasp from Paimon.

“Tired of us? Aether! Our Creator is tired of us!” 

“No! I mean, I still love Teyvat and all of you, but I needed a break and I will go back soon." You quickly responded with reassurance, which luckily appeased the floating companion. 

Paimon floated closer, which was like a weird zoom on her face, her eyes softening with understanding. 

"We get it, but... we can't go back to Teyvat until you' launch' the game." She says robotically, but appeared confused right after.

“Ah, okay. Give me a minute.” 

When you tried to download the game via the Genshin website, it stated that there was a website maintenance. 

“Creator! What is happening? The world is changing!” While you were frustrated, Aether and Paimon were jumping and flying everywhere around your screen, exploring how tabs open and following your mouse as you click and hover.

Their curiosity made you smile, and you slowly explain how everything works slowly as with each passing second, they marvel at how advanced your world is. 

“No wonder you’re our Creator!” 

“What’s this!?” Before you knew it, you pulled up multiple websites, and the one you landed on was Disney+.

“Do you want to watch a movie?” 

“What’s that?” Aether asked, curious, followed by Paimon’s cute little head tilt.

(You wished you could just squeeze those cute little cheeks-)

“It’s like telling a story, but you get to see it unfold right before you. Here.” You pull up ‘My Little Mermaid’ and they jump seeing the video move, with everyone inside move. 

“Woah…it’s like another world!” 

Aether seemed to marvel over it, and for a moment, he wondered, maybe, you could traverse worlds too. 

Seeing the stars in their eyes made you feel guilty, as if another misunderstanding arose, but you let them be, as their cute little figures sat down and watched the movie. 

You too, watched it with them, and for the first time in a while, you didn’t feel lonely. 

Throughout the movie, you patted them on the head with your mouse, which the two seemed to like very much. 

(And yes, you did pinch those cute little cheeks)

Kazuha 

“I’m glad that you didn’t abandon us, Your Highness.” 

Never in your wildest dreams did you expect to see THE Canadian Aether, Kazuha, on your screen, bowing respectfully to you.

“Let me know if I can help you in any way. Although my form is…not in the most helpful form, I will do my best.” 

You held back a giggle when you saw a shy little Kazuha looking at himself and then at you shyly, and you really wanted to tease him, but you chose not to. 

Instead, you pull up your incomplete art project. 

Might as well since you can’t download Genshin now and might have to wait for a few days.

“Actually Kazuha, I was hoping you could help me finish my art.” He immediately perked up, a serious expression overtook his shy one.

“Of course, Your Highness, let me know what you want to draw and I can help you!”

“Great! I’m trying to draw a handsome and cute man, he has platinum blond hair…” Slowly, you list one by one, the characteristics of the person you want to draw. 

Kazuha learns fast. Soon, he was able to figure out how your art platform worked. 

At first, he hesitated, and didn’t want to interrupt your drawing, but slowly, he learned to add in his thoughts and feedback, and guided your mouse to smooth out the lines, and perfect the colouring.

“He has red eyes…” 

Calming and soothing, his voice made you feel at peace, just like how you would hang out with him at the top of a mountain somewhere and listening to the game music. 

But this time, he was a little closer, where he felt more real albeit still in your screen. 

“Your Highness…isn’t this…me?” His little cheeks was dusted with pink as he quickly covered it with his hands. 

“It is you.” 

“But why…”

“Because you’re one of my favourites, Kazuha.” 

It was all it took for him to become shy again, and he began to cough awkwardly as if to mask his embarrassment. 

“Thank you…Your Highness.”

Yanfei

“Phew! We were so scared that you left us Your Eminence! But…I suppose we can’t do anything until you open up Teyvat again, until then, let me know if I can help you!” 

Yanfei's cheerful voice made you smile as you leaned against your palm. 

Then she turned around, as if taking in her surroundings before looking back at you. 

“Your Eminence, if I may, may I help you organize your…space?”  You blink, and that was when you notice the amount of files littered across the desktop screen, and you realized that from Yanfei’s view, it must’ve been very unorganized.

“Sure.” 

Yanfei brightens at your acceptance, and hopped a little to show her excitement. 

“Okay! I’m good at this, so leave it to me! Just follow my lead.” 

You were gonna clean up your PC eventually, though you did not expect it would be today. 

Either way, Yanfei was like a referee and a police, asking questions but also making sure everything was organized correctly. 

In a way, Yanfei felt like a Mom asking her child to clean her room.

Even so, it was so cute to see her marching everywhere like a soldier and asking you to organize it in a neat manner.

“Okay, next, let’s organize this folder!” 

“Okay-” Before you knew it, you immediately hit backspace. 

“Your Eminence…who was that-”

“Let’s move on.” But Yanfei stared at that folder with an intense stare. Did she see it? 

With a little nudge and push with your mouse, Yanfei eventually moved on, but she constantly had a smile on her lips. 

It was you cosplaying as her for an event. 

Yanfei would be sure to tell her friends back home. 

Childe

“Well, I’m happy to hear that, Your Highness! But…what were you doing? Away from Teyvat?”

Childe’s smile was a little bit menacing to look at, so you pull up what you were doing before to distract him.

And it did, surprisingly. 

“What is this?”

“It’s a game called Valorant.” 

You start the game, and once you get prepared, he too was locked in. 

With each attack and maneuver, Childe slowly became hyped up by your skill and admired it. 

“Your Highness! Why didn’t you tell me before?!” He became to gush, albeit trying to remain civil as he looked between you and your character in game. 

“Again.” In the end, he asked (begged) for another show. 

This time, you changed your agent to someone else, and once again, showed how skilled you are even in melee, which Childe initially advised against. 

But you blew his expectations away. 

“Your Highness, can I duel you?” 

You blink, before you laugh jokingly, but you knew in real life, Childe would absolutely crush you.

But you leave him be, and instead start another game. 

Honestly, Childe would be a great hype man. 

Fischl

“Ah, of course! How the stars seem to be against us this time…regardless! With me, Fischl von Luftschloss Narfidort here, there is nothing you need to worry about!” 

As expected, Fischl is quite the actor and storyteller as she spews on about how she faced something similar before, something just as interstellar as this. 

You don’t mind it, after all, if you did, you wouldn’t have Fischl on your team the entire time would you? 

Fischl deserves more love is what you find in the fandom, and while she may be annoying at times, you found her passion admirable, and even a little sad when you think this is her way of happiness. 

So you respected that, and listened as she rambled on, and moved as if she was on the stage. 

Perhaps…she would do good on stage with Furina in Fontaine. 

“Fischl, I do need your help on something.” You asked when she finally finished, and she straightened herself with grace as expected from the Prinzessin der Verurteilung. 

“I need your help with my stories. I want you to create elaborate and dramatic narratives for everyone to love.” She froze for a moment, but her grin immediately hid her surprise. 

“Why of course, I would be delighted. Allow me!” With just a few seconds to think, she immediately began her storytelling. 

With her little graceful steps and hops, she almost dances away, but she doesn’t stop sharing her fantasy story full of magic, fate, and stars. 

It was hard to keep up, but you didn’t want to disappoint her, so you did your best to type her word by word. 

Luckily, she seemed to slow down to match your pace, as if the two of you were a duet with the piano and violin. 

When she stops, you end off the story with a dramatic click, and you match her prideful smile. 

Truly, Fischl is a character not everyone can handle, but that’s alright.

After all, you love her for who she is, and maybe, Fischl appreciated that more than anything else.

When Someone Insults Ganyu, Bennett, and Nilou vs When Someone Insults Reader...

(Disclaimers: Might Be OOC, Mentions of Violence, & Quest/Genshin Impact Lore Spoilers!)

Ganyu

Okay, first of all: Yes, I am adding that stupid idiot cough Xin Cheng cough into this.

You were just following the Traveler and Paimon, joining Ganyu's Story Quest which, for some reason, was not completed yet. So, you decided to tag along to see Ganyu!

You weren't hyped when that beggar came out of nowhere and started to do all that fairytale stuff even you don't approve of—and you were someone that sticks themselves into your own head, thank you very much.

So when this man started to gain the audacity to insult Ganyu, you knew you had to step up and do something. No one, and you quite mean it, was going to insult her and get away with it.

"Hey!" You came out from your hiding spot (you're the Almighty Creator, you know it'll make the situation worse). "Just what the hell do you think you're doing, huh?"

Xin Cheng pales at the sight of your enraged figure. He stutters to make an excuse, but you cut him off. You're having none of it.

"Get your useless self out of here, before I decide to kick it down the mountains myself!"

To say that Ganyu was shocked that you were getting angry over a mortal was an understatement. She was beyond surprised that you even stood up for her.

But she did have to intervene with your threatening—after all, she is still an Adeptus. Protecting the people of Liyue was still her duty.

"Your Grace...Please let him go. I'm sure he already understands his mistake." Ganyu's soft voice only made your anger increase—she sounded so upset!

"Y-yes, please, Your Grace! I understand what I've done wrong, I—"

"Silence." You glare down at the mortal. Your turn back to Ganyu, and considered your choices. While you wanted to wreck absolute vengeance on this man, you also didn't want to hurt Ganyu's feelings more.

Guess you were going down Trauma Lane, then. You sigh, and stomp your feet as you turn around to glare at Xin Cheng, catching his petite form by surprise.

"If I ever see you do this again..." Your eyes narrow. "Believe me when I say it—you will be granted no mercy by any adeptus nor Rex Lapis himself. Now SCRAM!" With that, he was running for the hills. You weren't entirely satisfied, but you'll take it. For now.

What would Happen if Ganyu heard you get insulted? Well, first of all, she would gasp quietly to herself. What was this blasphemy? She's utterly horrified.

Ganyu thinks she might faint once she realizes you were nearby, checking out vendor goods next to where the gossipers were spilling terrible insults of your image.

"Y-Your Grace! Please accept my apology on behalf of the people of Liyue." Will literally run up to you and apologize for them. While she may not be the one who did it, she's still cares about the People of Liyue—and thus her reasoning as to why she's askign for the mercy of the Almighty Creator.

Your puzzled look turns to Ganyu. "Who are you apologizing for?" Ganyu blinks.

"The, uhm—the gossipers..?" You're still confused, until your eyes shine once recognition hits you like Truck-Kun.

"Ohhh, those dudes! Yeah, don't worry about them—they're pretty boring, saying the same thing like a broken record. Say—wanna shop with me? I'm paying, of course."

And that's how you got Ganyu to be more comfortable around you! :D

Bennett

Ah, our unlucky yet optimistic adventurer! This boy—he is good. He's cool, and he's rather awed by most of the kids in Mondstadt.

He was hanging out with Razor and Fischl when someone decides to insult him. this genuinely upsets him—after all, they were insulting his ability and his position in the Adventurer's Guild...

Already, Razor and Fischl were already up to defend him, but what they didn't expect is for the Almighty Creator (aka you) got to it first.

"I beg your pardon," you say through gritted teeth. "How exactly is having a bad luck aura got to do with ANYTHING related to being an adventurer?" You're glaring so many daggers you could practically say you were breaking all the walls. "Perhaps we'll see just how lucky you are when I send you to Dragon Spine and watch your dead corpses FREEZE TO DEATH?"

The insulters were paling the more you went on. Razor and Fischl aren't sure what to do—you're already there, dealing with the situation.

But Bennett? Well uh, like usual, his bad luck got the best of him, and he accidentally stumbles towards you (miraculously). He bumps into you, and you shift your gaze onto him.

"Uh—Sorry, Your Grace! I really didn't mean to bump into you, I swear!" Poor guy is scared because his bad luck affected him at the worst time of all. He thinks he might get killed.

You though? Oh, hell nah. Your gaze already soften, and you decided to show favoritism! You pull the boy into a hug, glaring at the insulters one more time as a warning to scram, before you go back to enjoying giving the boy affection!

But when Bennett hears you get insulted? Well, first of all, screw his bad luck because the insulters were quite literally telling him how bad of a Creator you were!

He immediately tries to avoid getting too deep into the discussion, trying to sway the topic elsewhere to no avail, and he pales when he realizes you were literally a few steps away from them!

And it seems his bad luck gets in the way again, because you just turned right as he was staring at you with shocked eyes!

However, instead of being mad, you were actually beaming when you see him. You wave at Bennett, smiling.

"Bennett! Help me choose some flowers, yeah?"

"Uhm—uh, Sure, Your Grace!"

And that's how the insulters were hiding in their homes for the rest of their lives as you merrily dragged Bennett out of that horrendous conversation.

Nilou

Honestly, do I need to say who decided to insult this amazing dancer?

Yes, it was fricking Azar again. What is up with this crazy old man, nobody knows. Perhaps you should put him in prison for a while until he's gained a sense of appreciation for the Arts. ALL of the Arts.

Apparently, when you had drilled fear into this man, he thought it only applied to flipping Nahida. As much as you love Nahida, you are not going to have Azar twists your words and make it seem like you grant him permission to snark down other people—especially the people of Zubayr Theater.

So when Azar finally decides to have scholars gain the nerve to insult Nilou on behalf of his stupid brain, you (of course) just had to get yourself involved with this.

"Excuse me, but since when did you have the audacity to judge someone else's profession of art, simply because it isn't 'academic' in any way?" You spat. "Where I come from, Art courses are necessary in order to move on in your academic life." When Nilou hears you, she, first of all, is grateful of you stepping up for her, and, second of all, very scared of what might be happening next.

The scholars pale, but they seem to have taken your comment as a debate.

"With all due respect, Your Grace, the Arts are anything but educational—"

"Was I looking for a second opinion, dimwit?" You narrow your eyes. "Besides, have you yourself ever tried the Art of Dancing or the Art of Music before?"

"Well—uhm, no, but—"

"Then shut up, then." The scholars begin to panic as your voice becomes low and dangerous. "You don't have an excuse to be judgmental if you haven't even tried this stuff yourself."

"Ex-Sage Azar told us to say this!" They blurt out, and that only increases your rage. Seeing that things might escalate, Nilou steps in.

"Your Grace, let's not be too harsh!" She exclaims, waving her hands frantically. "I'm sure they understand what they did wrong. There's no need to have them punished." You narrowed your eyes in disagreement, for a half second, Nilou thought she made the situation worse.

But when you sigh heavily, she knew you relented. You glare at the scholars again.

"Tell Azar if he does this again, to ANYONE, I'll cut his head off, and there's no more excuses there. In fact—bring me to him. I'll have a talk with him myself."

Yeah, Azar got traumatized again :)

But when Nilou hears you be insulted? Quite literally behind your back? She thought she was going to faint from the gossiper's comments alone! You being there to listen it to it all only made her feel worse.

She was about to confront them, until she saw other people nearby dealing with the situation. So, Nilou decides to check up and see if you were okay...After all, those comments weren't nice.

She was pretty shocked when she realized you were contemplating over wares instead, completely unbothered by the drama going on behind your back. Nevertheless, she was still going to apologize in case you were just hiding your emotions.

"Uhm, Your Grace—I would like to apologize on behalf of all of Zubayr Theater. We should've done something earlier." You look at her, confused.

"What are you apologizing for, Nilou?" You ask. She blinks.

"Uhm, the gossipers, Your Grace..?" Your eyes widen, before you bark a laugh.

"Oh, those dudes! Yeah—don't worry about them, honestly. Say—help me pick: should I get hot chocolate or tea from this lovely store?"

Let's just say you had a fun time hanging out with Nilou for the rest of the afternoon :)

She's surprised to say the least. It wasn't something that she was expecting to see when she arrives home. She's very thankful that you thought of her and bought her some beautiful flowers! She accepts them gratefully and will put them as the center piece on a table.

She's happy! She loves the flowers you picked out and will cherish them for as long as she can. She takes extremely well care of them and is disappointed when she has to get rid of them because they've hit the end of their life span. She absolutely loves them and will put them on display and mention how you had gotten them for her.

The poor girl is a little flustered that you had gotten her a gift! Why didn't you tell her before? She would have gotten you something as well! She really does like them though and will always think of you whenever she sees those flowers now! Not that she wasn't thinking of you before, of course.

I mean, of course you got her a gift. Why wouldn't you? Turns out that Baizhu lives just out of town of Liyue, (not found in the game, was is it with not showing characters houses...) that way he has some greenery around his house, and has a garden out back :D 🌱

Baizhu just gets this strange familiar feeling from you (it almost reminds him of,, seeing a regular customer that has been to see him hundreds of times...) that convinces him to offer you a job at the pharmacy, in exchange for living in the guest room for awhile ! ! WOO

But when ur not out and about Liyue's nature with Qiqi,

U do little odd jobs around Liyue, like dog walking, delivering peoples' medicine, and u even registered w/the Adventurer's Guild so u could take on small commissions :D

U used ur money to buy ingredients to cook food for urself and the household (bc Baizhu cant make anything besides soup and tea apparantly srsly how is this man alive)

And thru a series of trial and error (and consulting Xiangling..)

U made coconut milk!!! ✨️🥥🥛

Qiqi loved. It. Every. Time.

She's not tall enough to reach the kitchen counters w/o a stool, but she can peek her little head over it and put her fingers on the edge, which she does everytime u make it 😫😫🥺🥺

Fluff Headcanons - Spooky gaming with the genshin characters!

A/N: The fluff version of the Halloween special, and a bit of a new format. I hope you enjoy!

Alhaitham

This year, Alhaitham wanted something less conventional. Something that would really engage his mind with interesting commentary about society and the world at large, but still retain some of that spooky vibe. 

Cruelty Squad easily caught his attention with its assaulting graphics and interesting premise. It clearly begged for attention, and he was willing to humor it. 

It was precisely what he was looking for, and what an answer it was. Alhaitham had no trouble adjusting to a more corporate mindset.

Alhaitham: The super AI emerges from an extremely pornographic ultra hyper suck and fuck…

Kaveh: Um… What? What are you talking about?

Alhaitham: You don't understand, Kaveh. Everything that surrounds us? It's Gorbino's Quest. The Gorbino's Quest... of life.

Ganyu

The poor little cinnamon roll isn't that much of a horror fan. Violence and death generally unsettles her, but Ganyu still wants to feel some of that holiday spirit. 

After a lengthy deliberation, Ganyu chose Little Nightmares. The graphics are quite pleasing to the eye, it is horror, but not so horrible and violent. At least that's what she heard.

Ganyu: Oh, look! It's a Nome, right? And it's offering me food… How nice of it! Um… Oh n-no! Why would you d-do that?!

Amber

The great outdoors with a horror theme? Count her in!

Amber made sure to avoid spoilers to have the full, unprecedented The Forest experience. The landscape is so serene and peaceful… The freedom of movement, the sounds of nature and the survival elements are so fun and relaxing!

True, there are some hostile people on the island, but they seem harmless enough.

Until the night falls…

Amber: Wait… What's that? That doesn't look human… Did it just birth out… Ew… Yikes! It's coming at me! 

Suffice to say, Amber stuck around until more or less the moment when you have to chop up bodies and make effigies out of the parts.

Beidou

Alcohol, hard rock and murdering demons with big guns is how Beidou plays on Halloween, so she'll gladly hop on Doom Eternal.

There's nothing better than impaling a snake demon's head with its own broken arm, right as the beat drops. 

Beidou: Life has enough undefeatable horrors. Let's just have some fun tonight!

Ningguang

The old ones are the good ones! Ningguang doesn't play a lot of video games, but she did like a few titles back in her younger days. 

On this special occasion, Ningguang got a box of her old possessions to dig through, and found the original Dungeon Keeper on CD. 

Everything is just as she remembered it was. 

Ningguang: Oh, these imps… They are the perfect workers, aren't they? They don't eat, sleep, need vacation, have a social life, and they work harder when you slap them. Ah, if only I had them as my subordinates…

Keqing: *narrows eyes*

Kokomi

Another fan of the retro side of games, Kokomi enjoys a good tactical challenge - developing the ability to conjure small scale plans is as important as improving the grand ones.

Her pick is Myth II: Soulblighter. It’s a brutal, unforgiving RTS with a distinctively dark atmosphere - just perfect for the season at hand.

Even when Halloween comes to a close, Kokomi will find it hard to drop the game. The insanity that is Legendary is quite addictive indeed…

Kokomi: You here… You here… And now the crescendo!

Game: “Move here move there…”

Game: “Catch!”

Game: *explosion*

Game: “Casualty.”

Kokomi: Oh. Change of plans, I guess…

Yae Miko

Upon hearing of the wonderful possibilities for tormenting the other party, Miko didn't hesitate to bring out the Mora for Dead By Daylight and all of its DLC. 

Though it was quite fun at first, the ugly nature of the game soon surfaced. As none of her friends were brave enough to delve into this swamp, she was forced to join up with random people, who frequently threw the games. 

Such a combination was enough to make even such an ancient and wise kitsune lose her absolute cool.

Ei: Why are you crouching behind that tree, Miko?

Miko: The killer has caught one of my teammates, and I will release them by ambushing them with a flashlight! 

Miko: Come on… Now! You didn't expect that, did y- What?? Lightborn?! Again?! Who even plays it nowadays?! Oh, you daft, blind motherf-

Ei: Miko!

Miko: Oh… Hm. Sorry. I got a little carried away. But that's sooo unfair, isn't it? Why would they add a perk that cancels a whole mechanic? I can't believeitthegameissokillersided…

Xiangling

Xiangling absolutely didn't look forward to Halloween, especially with Hu Tao around. She just can't take horror, at all, of any kind, ever. Especially jumpscares.

She still couldn't believe that she agreed to play a horror game, let alone one suggested by the director. The one and only Five Nights At Freddy's at that.

Much to Hu Tao's amusement, she didn't even make it past Night 1. Xiangling was thoroughly spooked, and after being jumpscared once she completely refused to keep playing. 

Seeing Xiangling so terrified made Guoba very upset, and Hu Tao quickly apologized to avoid being roasted by the angry god. 

Hu Tao: So he killed the kids, but then! Their souls escaped their robot prisons and made an old spring lock suit crush him to death! WoOoo~

Xiangling: Ah! Hu Tao! No more! 

Guoba: Nane na! Grr…

Hu Tao: Oh, don't fret little Guoba! I'm just joking!

Zhongli

Morax always had trouble catching up with the latest cultural and technological trends of the humans. Sure, he can use a computer more than well enough, but he finds third and first person video games confusing. The gameplay is most often too fast and rapidly changing for him to be up to speed with it, let alone enjoy it. 

Throughout all of his exponentially long life, nobody was as persistent in including him in the festivities as Hu Tao. She tried to convince Zhongli to play something horror-related, but he was assertive. So, the director decided to find a game that would suit his liking - an indie title. 

Her pick fell on Water Womb World - it's simple mechanically, is quite disturbing and has an interesting concept. 

Much to her surprise, Zhongli thoroughly enjoyed his fifteen minutes with the game, even if he didn't find it very scary.

Zhongli: Ah, I agree with the message of this title. The blind belief in deities can lead to fanaticism, which breeds regress rather than progress. I do think that a more healthy and critical approach to Rex Lapis' rule would be beneficial to our current day society. Especially that the age of gods draws to an end…

Hu Tao: Aiya! Do you have to turn everything into a lecture, Zhongli? You're not my grandpa, are you?

Hu Tao

An avid enjoyer of the spookfest, Hu Tao decided to pick something hitting closer to home this year - Mortuary Assistant.

The gameplay loop feels great! Just like in her line of work, just without the smell. She's having the time of her life preparing the corpse for burial. And hunting the demon. That's also quite cool!

Hu Tao: *hums while wheeling the corpse into the crematory* 

Game: "Are you sure?"

Hu Tao: Yup! I know your tricks more than well. Aiyaya, you could try something more interesting next round! Furnace time~

Game: *sounds of fire and demonic screaming*

Hu Tao: Toodle-oo~

Bennet, Noelle, Fischl, Razor

A few weeks before Halloween, Bennett mentioned a game night, since he couldn't be there in person. Noelle, diligent as ever, picked this up as a cue to start looking for something. 

Luckily for her, Phasmophobia was on a large and affordable discount, so after proposing the idea and organizing a money pool, they all got to proving the existence of ghosts.

Lisa lent Razor her personal computer for the night, on condition that she could take a little peek every now and then at their session without interrupting - and what an amusement it was, as none of them are especially acquainted with horror.

Noelle: "The ghost responds only to people who are alone." Somebody has to go in to talk to it… 

Razor: Razor won't go! Ghost scary!

Bennett: I would go, but with my luck, the ghost will eat me right away…

Fischl: Hmph! Although yes, I, Fischl, The Prinzessin Der Verurteilung and the founder of The Immernatchreich possess the courage to face demons and spawns of darkness alike, I…

Everyone: So you'll go then?

Amy: Um… N-no! You m-misunderstood!

Furina

The Great-And-Grand Archon of Fontaine played and saw every horror game and movie, and never once got scared. Or that's what she claims, at least.

That's why Focalors decided to prove her excellence with a true, dark challenge she could easily overcome, thus proving her gaming capabilities for all to see!

In hindsight, Darkest Dungeon wasn't the best of choices she could have made… It did amuse Monsieur Neuvilette, however. 

Neuvillette: I think you should retreat. Your heroes are close to dying. 

Furina: I appreciate your advice, my dear Iudex, but your worries are misplaced! My Crusader will deal a critical hit, thus ending the pig-man's miserable opposition, and granting us treasure galore! Watch and marvel at my skill!

Game: "A singular strike!"

Furina: Ahaha, see? I told you it would be fine~ Wait… It's not dead yet…?

Game: "Mortality - clarified in a single strike!"

Furina: Um…

Game: "There can be no hope in this hell, no hope at all…"

Shenhe

Shenhe never gets scared. The most terrible of monsters or existential terrors are no match for her training and resolve, no matter how unexpected they might be. She might not get scared, but she can get startled, right?

Who else would pose that question but Hu Tao, the mistress of horrors herself? It was always her objective to get some sort of reaction out of the adepti disciple, no matter how insignificant and small it might be. Many things were attempted - scary movies, troubling situations, body horror, cosmic horror, existential horror… But none of them ever worked. Shenhe remained stalwart.

Out of desperation, Hu Tao was forced to reach for the ultimate weapon. The bane of those unprepared. The myth. The legend. The game.

The Scary Maze Game. 

After plugging in an old spare monitor, she invited Shenhe to “test her precision”, and stepped a few safe meters back. 

The monitor ended up skewered with her polearm, but Shenhe did yelp - much to her delight. 

Not all was fun and games though, as Hu Tao got the mother of all lectures from Cloud Retainer. Something about Shenhe’s red ropes breaking, but the director didn’t pay much attention, and just nodded along.

Hu Tao: Heya, Shenhe… You don’t mind the little scare I gave you back on Halloween night, do you…?

Shenhe: Oh? Well, as much as I was upset during the moment, I must admit it was quite… cathartic. I never experienced anything like that. I do not hold any grudge towards you. Actually… Thank you for that, director Hu Tao.

Hu Tao: Phew! And I was here thinking I’ll share the fate of that display!

Do They Get Invited to the Fontaine Masquerade Ball? [Mondstadt]

A/N: Based on my post where I begged Hoyo to give us a Fontaine masquerade ball event. If they don't, this is the post I am using to quench my thirst.

Warnings: This is just my opinions and thoughts! If you think differently it is okay! (In my original post I said that I thought that the "higher-ups" would get invited so that is what I'm basing it off), written in an informal way, not all characters have headcanons!

Yes - Jean, Kaeya, Diluc, Eula

Jean: She's anxious that something may go wrong if she's not there, especially with Klee. Lisa reassures her that everything will be okay (Lisa can be strict too so I think they'll be fine). Her co-knights (and Diluc) try to comfort her as well saying it is something to be proud of for her. I think she starts feeling better when she receives compliments from other guests of her being the acting grand master.

Kaeya: Was surprised he was going, because he thought Jean would've asked him to stay (Diluc: the Knights of Favonius are inefficient, you really think you'd stay?). He remembers that one time his adopted father was away for two days for the ball, and can't fathom that he'd get this chance. I just know his outfit for the masquerade ball is e x t r a v a g a n t.

Diluc: He remembers his father getting invited, so now it's his turn. He is hesitant on going, since there is business to take care of with the winery, possible memories of his father, and of course- his "dear" brother who is also attending. He probably is asked to bring wine by the organizers. When he gets dressed, Kaeya's like huh you're not wearing the darknight hero mask? And if you listen closely you can hear retribution.

Eula: Also surprised she got an invite because of her lineage... but on the other hand, she is not her ancestors, nor is she getting invited for that reason. Amber is excited for her and begs her to tell her all about it when she comes back. She is the best when it comes to the ballroom dancing part.

No - Amber, Lisa, Barbara, Razor, Bennett, Noelle, Fischl, Sucrose, Diona, Rosaria, Mika, Klee

Most of them are too young anyway... however that doesn't stop them from getting excited about a ball even though they cannot attend.

Fischl: She claims she is not jealous, because in her kingdom they have their own masquerade ball. Fontaine has an exquisite ballroom with the most brilliant chandeliers? The Immernachtreich has a better one, all purples and black with candles and Oz themed lights. She immediately organizes it along with asking her mom to make her favourite cold cut platter, and invites all her friends.

Bennett: Hears about Fischl's masquerade ball and is very much convinced that her's sounds better than Fontaine's. When he attends Fischl's ball, (well it looks better in her head but) he thinks it's the most amazing event he'd been to.

Klee: She is sad that Kaeya and a few of her other friends have to leave, though it's only for a bit. Klee asks him to bring back something like a Fontaine-Dodoco, Kaeya chuckles and says sure. Lisa and Albedo are the main people who have to keep her out of trouble.

Razor: Potatoes.

Well... - Venti, Mona, Albedo

Venti: If this guy can somehow make it to Lantern Rite and Irodori, then he can get to the ball. Not saying he was ever invited, but something tells me he has a scheme twirling his fake mustache and sneaking in. I won't deny that it would be fun to see him at a masquerade ball. Insert Diluc's deadpan face when he sees an alcoholic bard made his way to Fontaine. Venti makes up a fake title- "The Best Wine Taster of Teyvat"

Mona: She has wrote on the Steambird which drew in a lot of readers, so I think she has a good chance of getting invited. She'd be able to connect with any Fontaine fans that enjoy her astrology columns. I also think her outfit would be very elegant.

Albedo: I feel like he has a chance of getting invited but declines for two reasons. One because he has a lot of research to do and two, because someone needs to keep Klee from blowing up Mondstadt (and possible sus-bedos on the loose). I believe if anything, Sucrose would be the one to convince him to go since there could be more things alchemy related to discover in Fontaine, or other alchemists or scientists to meet.

After the idea floated around my mind for a while now, I decided to give a try to writing headcanons/short fics, specifically for Genshin Impact (with now a bit of Honkai Star Rail), with a particular focus on comfort/fluff.

I got inspired to do this after seeing how often I would turn to comfort or fluff content on tumblr, as a way to cope with the void of loneliness (sometimes overthinking too). As such, why not add my own contribution... as long as it can, hopefully, provide some relief to one person out there.

Bennett's lucky day

Bennett is enjoying a fried (burnt) egg for his breakfast, as he looks over the commissions and ruins he'll be exploring today. He had his sword resharpened, his back packed with the essentials, and all he needs now is...luck. It's been kind of dry the last couple of weeks and Bennett barely had anything to show for it. So, with a sigh to himself he got and began to make his trek towards his first commission.

Comm: Clear out a Hillichurl encampment.

Bennett's morning couldn't start of any better than alerting some Hillichurl lookouts to his presence when he was hasn't even set foot near the camp itself. As he was in an intense fight, he was too busy engulfing his fire in flames to notice a Mtihachurl barreling towards him, shield in front of the monstrous foe as he was getting closer and closer to the distracted pyro swordsman. However, it then tripped on a pebble, and face planted onto the ground, gaining Bennett's attention finally as he burnt its shield with ease, and stuck his sword straight in its brain.

Commission, completed!

Objective: Find some treasure in a newly found Ruin.

Bennett was exploring some new Ruins that seemed to have just appeared out of no where. And as much as his senses were telling him to not explore it, his search for treasure was shouting at him to at least gain some profit. So, he took the latter. As he explored the abandoned place, and searched down the empty corridors and inspected every stone pillar in his path, he finally discovered a large room.

The Good news? He could see an overwhelming number of chests in it.

The Bad news? A Ruin Guard was reactivating, and ready to rumble.

Bennett hadn't thought of fighting a Ruin Guard today, but with this must on the line; he really couldn't back out now. As he readied his blade, engulfing it in a fire, he charged at the Ruin Guard with a battle cry. The Ruin Guard made its charge towards Bennett as well, both ready to take out the other.

Bennett has remained victorious, coming out of the fight with a few scratches and all that, he decided to take a breather next to a treasure chest, taking a peek inside only to have it burst open. The shining glow from inside nearly brought Bennett to tears as he saw a mountain of mora staring back at him. He jumped up with excitement, nearly pinching himself thinking it was all a dream come true.

Dream, dream, dream...

In reality, Bennett was found by Amber who watched him closely enter in the Ruin, she saw him take out the Ruin Guard by himself, but not without a hefty cost. He was currently in a comatose state, being nurse by Barbara as most of the Knights with Razor and Fischl in tow, watching over him from a distance. No telling what made Bennett want to go in there alone when he could've asked his closest friends, but they knew it had to have been something important for him to risk his life over.

Bennett had always been one to take risks like these before, even with his bad luck, people had to commend him for going above and beyond on trying his best to be an adventurer. Even if they had to steer clear of his bad luck from triggering around them, there was a certain aura that he'd give off when his plans go right that give people a sense of determination. So, as much as it does seem saddening to say; this wasn't the norm for Bennett to be nursed back to health from something as serious as bleeding out, alone in a ruin.

By the time he did finally awake, Bennett felt the pain of his duel with the Ruin Guard, and the bandages stained with his blood weren't helping him keep his spirits up. As he looked around his medical room, he saw that it was night already, but there laid in what little light he had, he saw a big gift bag besides him, resting on a nearby table.

Bennett grabbed the basket and opened it slowly, expecting it to be a prank pulled by someone who disliked him or something else. But what he saw in there was enough to make him cry. Some artifacts he was saving up for with what little mora he had. Some materials for a new sword, Barbatos knows he needed one for awhile... And a check written to him by Jean herself, to compensate his medical treatment and what he lost down in the ruins.

Bennett never felt truly lucky on any day of the week. But when he did hit a lucky break; boy did it make him forget all about whatever was bothering him to begin with.

In Bennett’s opinion Wolvendom was scary, especially at night. The moon cast weird shadows on the rocky terrain, and you could hear camps of hilichurls along the edge of the forest. It was definitely his least favorite place to take commissions.

But he hadn’t hesitated to agree to camp there with Razor.

“Razor is happy that Bennett came.”

The two were setting up their tent just outside of Andrius’ trial area.

Well, Razor was setting up the tent with Bennett’s verbal instructions; they'd nearly lost it when Bennett tried to set it up himself. The wind had suddenly picked up and it'd nearly blown out of the forest.

“I’m glad you invited me! Most people don’t want to spend any more time with me then they have too,” Bennett sighed, swinging his legs against the log he sat on.

Razor stopped pushing a stake into the ground and turned to his friend.

“Why… not? Razor thinks Bennett is great friend.”

“Ya but I have horrible luck, and people tend to get hurt.”

With a solemn nod, Razor said, “Bennett won’t hurt Razor. Bennett is Razor’s friend.”

“That’s not-” Razor had already finished setting up the tent and wandered into the forest ignoring Bennett. “Hey! Where are you going?”

“Razor smells friend!”

“Huh?”

Bennett jumped up off the log, nearly tripping over his feet in the process, and ran after Razor.

“Young knight of endless energy thou attract peril far beyond that which we are prepared for! Cease this incessant-”

“Razor!”

The two boys looked down over the small ledge to find Klee and Fischl standing in the middle of a small hilichurl camp. Fischl seemed slightly out of breath, and Klee was as energetic as ever.

“Burny girl.”

Klee scrambled up the ledge and wrapped her arms around Razor in a tight hug.

“Adventurer who bears the world’s curse, thou hast forced the Prinzessin der Verurteilung to search for a servant such as thyself?” As Fischl began to rant about how much of an inconvenience looking for Bennett had been, Klee leaned into Razor.

“She talks funny,” Klee giggled, “I like her.”

“Sorry!” Bennett cried, bowing slightly with his hands clasped in front of him while Fischl struggled to climb up. “Razor asked if I wanted to camp with him, and I completely forgot we were supposed to hang out.”

The adventurer extended a hand to Fischl who nearly took it before deciding it would be better to haul herself up without his help. Bennett seemed to arrive at the same conclusion as he awkwardly laughed and rubbed at the back of his neck, stepping back so she could gracelessly roll up onto the ledge.

“Burny girl and friend, join us?”

Fischl paused in brushing herself off and examining her dressing for tears to look up.

“I should hope so after all we went through to get here!” Fischl snapped. “Oops. I-I mean, the Prinzessin der Verurteilung would be honored to join thou in…” she trailed off, looking to Bennett for help.

“We’re camping!”

“Camping?” Klee cheered, still holding on to Razor. “Oo! Can we have s’mores?”

“What are s’mores?”

“You’ve never had a s’more?” Klee gasped, almost sounding offended as she grabbed Razor’s hand and began to swing it back and forth. “They're really yummy, they’re all gooey and sweet and-”

As Klee rambled on, Fischl turned to Bennett.

“Adventurer who bears the world’s curse, am I correct to assume you have the required ingredients?”

“Yup! Wouldn’t be a camping trip without them. I’ll start the fire!”

“A-Ta-Ta! Please allow my most trusted retainer, Oz,” Oz swooped down from his perch in the trees, “to handle the flames. I do not seek an inferno on this fine night.”

“Very good, Meine Fraulein,” Oz nodded before gliding away.

“Oh, ya, that’s probably a good idea.”

(none of the rocks hit Bennett btw, or anything valuable around him)

So after that fiasco, u offer to take them around to the parts of Mondstadt they weren't allowed to go to w/o at least 1 adult :)

Theyre pumped and yall set off!

At first, Bennett hangs back, as Fischl and Razor throw themselves into monster battles yall encounter, as per what seems like a routine u assume bc of his bad luck

Eh, u figure while hes here, u might as well reveal u can make him stronger, u think he definitely needs the HP...

If there were any characters youd be worried about needing more power/HP in Mondstadt that u could level up besides Razor, itd be Bennett, hands down.

Between his adventuring, unnatural bad luck, and no parental supervision..

(even Klee seems better off than him, and shes like 7 💀)

So he looks adorably fascinated <3, bc turns out they can see some of ur interface!

Mostly it looks like floating magical icons and that weird Teyvat language u saw in game, like that Abyss/ruins language u see all the time?

Bennett showed u his perspective in a sand drawing, hes actually pretty good at art wow

Razor couldnt rlly find the words to describe it before which is why u werent sure what they saw before now

And with that hes called into battle last by the others, mostly to apply pyro 🔥

and he fights at the edges to be further away from ppl u notice so he wont affect their luck..

But as he draws his sword and ur getting ready trying to become a cheerleader for both Razor and Fischl but particularly Bennett,

He full on takes out 3 hilichurls at once 💀

...then with the dramatic down swing he does, he accidentally launches a rock right at the bigger hilichurl's foot..

...which trips him out of his axe swing...

...which makes it let go of the axe...

...which goes flying...

....breaks the last bit of the cryo abyss mage's shield bubble...

....

......

........and smacks it on the head too.

..fischl, oz, and razor halfway thru this insanity just like,, lower their weapons and stop to watch

Fischl and Benny were drooling over garlic salt, jesus- Teyvat's been deprived-

The blanket u used was a custom one u got made for Razor for his bday awhile back, all diff shades of purple and some silver wolf puppies and pawprints on it, 10/10 vv cute he loves it :)

(and also showed it off to his friends, Benny in particular looks smitten by it..)

Fischl eventually gets herded by Oz back to Mondstadt bc of their parents wanting them back by dinner,

So u Razor and Benny r left to wander around :]

As u guys explore and get chests and talk,

U all begin to gather ingredients for dinner (not that u dont have an inventory but the boys dont wanna cut into ur supplies, the sweethearts)

... Benny slowly starts to find and accumulate foodstuffs

Those Phileano? mushrooms (the white toasty looking ones that r always on roofs or windmills?)

He finds at eye level on nearly any building u come across.

Crabs?

Benny currently has his shirt turned into a basket trying to contain them, and more are flocking to him lol

Snap dragons? Calla lilies?? Even violetgrass, those purple horsetails, lotus heads, and a few qingqin from Liyue somehow make it into his bag 💀

The real question to ask at this point is, when wasn't Bennett lucky today??

(wow never thought youd hear that one)

So its a few weeks later, and Benny is like spending, every day with yall now lol

Ur getting dinner ready for u guys, and ur hopefully gonna make enough to leave leftovers for Lupical and Andrius,

So Razor has gone off to get some water to boil,

And Benny is climbing this huge tree to reach some eggs

And as he gets farther and farther up the tree away from you, he starts to slip more often 😬

Finally as he reaches the top, u realize after weeks without even a trip from him whenever hes around yall, why he wasnt unlucky-

...the closer he is to you, the luckier he is, and the farther Benny is-

He steps on a dead branch and it snaps :0 !!

Just as he falls, he screams and yells,

"DAD!!"

U push together some thick bushes and vines to catch him luckily

(lord knows u couldnt have caught him no matter how light he is, rip benny)

..Benny is okay, but he does go red in the face, and when u ask if he wants u to get one of his dads from the guild to check him over/make him feel better?

He says quickly "NO THANKS!"

Then Razor comes back like, "You call Lupical dad now?"

Benny: "What? No!"

You: "Do u see me as a, father figure, Bennett?"

Benny: "NO- more like I see u as a BOTHER figure bc ur always BOTHERING ME-"

Lol anyways jk

what a cutie tho,

(Ur Creator vibes made him feel vv at home in a way he hasnt felt before, so u got the honors early <3)

so ur a Dad™️ now (regardless of ur gender btw)

hope u like having a pack of puppies, a wolf spirit god, a wild wolf raised boy, and another wild but adventurer guild raised boy as ur family now 🤷‍♂️

You may or may not have also gotten onto Benny for charging straight into battle at other times, bc hes so used to bad luck happening anyway, apparently its canon he will just run in???

(to the point Grand Master VARKAS commented on it??!!)

U were pissed, bonked his head and everything-

He looked sufficiently chastised, but when u originally found out Fischl and Razor were nearby,

And u just hear snickering behind u as u bop him

(U bop them later too for that lol)

Benny is also very good at treating injuries bc of this too apparantly,

So one time when you Razor and him were engaging with a couple hilichurls again on the way to Windrise,

Benny applied pyro, and bc u were standing father away than usual (there was an archer earlier u were dodging)

His bad luck crept in and when Razor went to charge up his wolf spirit electro ult-

...everyone went flying back.

...Including Benny and Razor 💀

You heard a really sick pop!

From Benny's shoulder :(

You quickly start pullin out the healing foods lol shove a fishstick in his mouth screaming IT HEALS like a crazed grandparent lmao

But Benny has already sighed and sat up, popping his arm back into place

While u do praise his healing??? skills,

U have found out thru him that apparently ur food also gives some pain killer effects

So u scold him and bop him on the head with some dango 🍡

For not waiting on u to help him lol

Which btw-

Any healing food u give him, he treats like the bandages many others give him, like Barbara, Katheryne, his guild dads, etc.

And holds onto them, rarely eating them

(Ur stuff preserves until needed bc its magical Creator powers surprise, surprise)

Benny feels like its a tangible piece of your care he can keep with him <3 sobs

"Well, since you're by my side, I guess I'm not that unlucky after all!"

Ok so youve been getting Razor and u furnishings right

And youve been asking him what he wants to add to the caves digs ! :]

(U made a more fortified "front door" to the cave entrance, its also not that deep of a cave so there r only like 3 other "rooms" besides the main entrance area)

U improved both of u guys beds (tho razor will crash urs if he has a nightmare)

Along with some new outfits for him!

And so he has requested some stuff, but as time goes on,

Slowly, Razor goes from telling Benny about what new thing u added or telling his friend abt what he wants for the cave/himself,

To asking Benny what he wants bc he stays over so often 😭

(Youve gotten Benny factored into ur finances now lol, u gave him new clothes, new gear, amenities, etc. It also helps him bc he doesnt rlly have a main caretaker, so if he needs money he has to take commissions, which can be dangerous to him alone bc if u dont know, Benny's Adventuring Team only has him as the single member of it, plus thats not good if he is too sick or too injured to work, so a 2nd source of lowkey income is good for him <3 )

U now have a coffee table as the dinner table (razor was used to sitting on the ground to eat so a high table felt weird to him)

And it has a few pillow chair thingys?

For you, Razor, Benny, and a guest aw 💘

Benny also originally wanted to help make smth for u guys as a house warming gift

but bc he would try to work on it away from ur influence, it would break everytime :(

Eventually u just coninvced the poor kid to help u pick out some nice rugs and stuff lol

He also has surprisingly good interior design tastes, huh, who knew?

(cough when benny stays over he usually stays in razors bed, but occasionally theyre both lonely had nightmares and ask to crash with u, i love these kids sm cough)

Recently youve been visiting Benny in town even w/o Razor sometimes (rare as it is lol)

Mostly bc it seems like he needs the attention too <3

U gotta make sure hes eating real food okay

U dont want him to end up like u in ur world where u ate snacks for dinner when u were his age...

And Benny gets super hype about it every time, hes grabbing u by the arm, hauling u around to talk to ppl etc.

(Did i mention ur one of the few or not at all ppl who he can freely hold onto no matter the weather/situation bc his bad luck doesnt happen to you?? Oh no??? Well there u go :)

Most notably, to talk to the other Guild Dads™️

They deadass lowkey postured at you for an hour at you before giving in bc u seemed to be the only good luck charm the kid's ever gotten in his entire life 😭

They also r rlly happy someone is able to bc of his rlly bad luck willing to look out for him when they cant :)

For his birthday, you guys all celebrated by doing a picnic again like when u first met them, and you made him a cake

Benny's face rlly said " :'D !! "

Later on, for presents, you got him a blanket matching Razor's !!

Shades of red, with some good luck symbols thruout to maybe make up for when ur not there, and puppies all over <3

And at the top, you yourself embroidered (attempted, so its kinda sloppy but still readable, its endearing you like to think)

With your name, Razor, Fischl, and even Oz and Andrius lol, all embroidered (not by u bc u stabbed urself enough times making the title thx) as team members down below 👍

I just want y'all to know.

I had like this whole thing ready to post.

Then tumblr decided it didn't like any of my writing, and deleted half of this post.

U probably saw the spot i marked where i lost it all :'/

I think it took an hour? Or at least 30 minutes to write.

Guess tumblr didn't like that I was adding so much in one go.

So now it's gone.

Doin smth ballsy bc in order to avoid that, ive just rewritten that lost half, and am just going to post it straight up rather than expecting it to save my draft 🥲

Those beautiful moments between Bennett and us, are gone forever. My memory isn't good enough to rewrite it all. ;-;

If you don't mind, I'll be crying somewhere over those lost Benny moments that I drafted on here and can no longer remember to add.

I guess that's tumblr's cruel way of telling me to go the extra mile and draft my bullshit on a literal Google Doc then come back here and deal with the formatting transition hell.

“Oz, my loyal companion, fetch me the eggs.” Fischl swayed the loose, undone parts of her hair behind her shoulders right after cracking one more egg into the bowl. 

Oz shook his head in worry, “Mein Fräulein, that is more than enough for a single batch.” 

The mixture was turning rock hard the more Collei tried to knead it, losing flexibility and probably flavor with each passing second. 

Fischl let out an exaggerated huff, “Ozvaldo von Hrafnavins, you dare question the actions of your Prinzessin? Fetch them this instant!” 

Oz wanted to protest for the sake of the cookies, but Fischl was unyielding as always. Collei wiped the drops of sweat on her forehead with her arm, “Oz is right, Fischl. It’s turning so stiff, I can barely knead it anymore…”

Fischl leaned in, inspecting the batter closely as Collei struggled to bend it with her fingers. After a millisecond of worry, she placed her hands on her hips, wetting the apron, “Food is merely a reminder of the shackles of our flesh, Collei. You mustn’t trouble yourself with matters of mortals, for I—” 

“But, we are mortals.” Collei’s brows raised.

“Fischl, have gazed upon this land countless times—” 

“It’s our first time in Inazuma…” 

“And have concluded that the products of our hard-work are nothing but mere fuel for our earthly vessels.”

Following the short monologue, Oz and Collei stared at her hopelessly, until a smile took over Collei’s face. So preoccupied with preparing and mixing the batter, she hadn’t had the time to look at Fischl for the past thirty minutes or so. 

She looked absolutely adorable in her apron, decorated with ravens and purple hearts that Collei had embroidered for her. An imprint of flour had painted the tip of her nose white, with more marks along the front of the apron. Her cheeks were rosy from running around in the kitchen all day. 

And though she tried to hide her worries of screwing up, Collei could easily read the stress ridden under her confident façade. 

“You look… so cute.” as Fischl tried to make sense of her long stare, Collei accidentally blurted out.

“I—” Fischl gasped, “Hmph!” 

But soon, she couldn’t help but join Collei, chuckling with embarrassment and the affection that overflowed from her heart. 

Simultaneously, at the town square where food vendors would gather every Sunday, another couple was running into a world of trouble. Well, at least one of its members was.

“Hu Tao… You can’t just eat everything you see…” Kokomi stared at her girlfriend in worry, but Hu Tao already had her teeth sinking into a fruit that she hadn’t even seen before in her life. 

“Hah?” She chewed carefully, lost in thought, as if she knew what it was supposed to taste like in the first place, “But I have to do a taste test before we spend all our Mora on it!”

Kokomi turned around to eye the other stalls, “But… They’re more or less the same, it’s just for the toppings anyways.” 

Though it had only taken her a few seconds, upon her return, Hu Tao was already stuffing her face with a product that was definitely not suited for the fruit cake they had planned out. 

“No, no no, Hu Tao! Don’t eat the flowers!” Kokomi reached out her hand. 

“Duhh-nt eat th—hmmph—what?”

“Those are not… edible.”

The vendor watched the outlander with a fond look on his face, “If you’re hungry, we can offer you a lot better than Naku Weed, Miss.” 

“Apologies, please excuse us, my girlfriend is from Liyue, she’s still…” Kokomi wished she hadn’t looked at Hu Tao mid-sentence, because the sight of her trying to rid her tongue of the taste like a nauseous cat was making it so hard to keep a straight face—

“Getting used to Inazuma. I will compensate you for everything she has taken.”

The vendor smiled, “Oh? The Divine Priestess! What an honor. No, please get as much as you want, it’s on the house.” 

Hu Tao’s eyes sparkled the second she heard the phrase ‘on the house’, eager to get everything that she wanted to try. 

“I’m afraid I can’t accept your kind offer, please, I know it has been a rough season.” 

“It would be even worse without your assistance, milady. Please, it’s the least we can do to thank you.” 

Kokomi took a moment to consider and decided it was best to accept, on the condition that he would be compensated later for his kindness and understanding.

“Then, please allow the maidens of the shrine to stop by every once in a while.” she came up with a solution. 

“Hehe, you’ve got yourself a deal.” 

The two shook hands, Kokomi was now relieved as Hu Tao kept tasting all the different fruits and creating a surprisingly impressive array. After debating on how they were going to decorate the cake, they stuffed their arms with the shopping bags and set out for home. 

The island was as lively as it was every Sunday. Groups of kids playing out on the fields as their parents chatted and enjoyed tea on picnic tables, senior citizens taking their time picking out their groceries, haggling and joking around with the vendors, house gatherings similar to the tea party that they would be holding later that day, it was serene as Kokomi herself and as enticing as her beloved butterfly jumping around next to her.

“I hope Fischl isn’t burning the house down.” Kokomi giggled. 

“Ah, don’t worry about it, they’re probably fine.” Hu Tao said, lax as an old man who had seen it all, but Kokomi already seemed a bit jittery. 

“Oh… You are worrying about it.” Hu Tao dropped the bags on the ground and Kokomi followed her lead. 

“Not… just about them but, this whole thing. I would like to be a good host and, if I start shutting down…” she gazed down at the floor, shoulders dropping down. 

Hu Tao cupped her cheeks gently, “It’s gonna be okay. We have that play prepared and everything. There will be more than enough entertainment. And, if it gets really overwhelming…” her hands lingered in the air, the same way she stuck out of closets and corners with a mischievous ‘boo!’, “I’ll scare the shit out of them, hm?” 

Kokomi wrapped her hands around her neck, “I don’t think that would be very hospitable of us.” 

“Then I’ll stick to entertainment.” Hu Tao’s hands landed on her waist softly, “We’ll deal with it, angelfish.”

After taking a quick look around, Kokomi stole a kiss from her girlfriend’s lips, leaving a peck of gratitude for always being by her side.

“Thank you.”  

Back at the house, the kitchen was now shared by two duos, diligently working to complete their desserts and pastries before the guests arrived. Their harmonious method was commendable, ingredients being swapped around quickly, team members shuffling away from their stations and switching places to maximize efficiency as the smell of vanilla and fresh fruits surrounded them. 

With all goods ready to be baked and the arrival of their guests fast approaching, Kokomi pointed at the oven, “Can you preheat it?”

Hu Tao clutched her vision very confidently until Kokomi rushed to hand her a small box, “With the matches!”

“Oh… Yeah… Yeah, of course. Teehee…” 

Fischl and Collei couldn’t help but giggle.

“Kids, why don’t you go rest a bit? You’ve been taking care of everything since the morning.” Kokomi smiled at them. 

They nodded, heading into the living room to make sure all the props for the play were in place, and then stepped out to the garden.

A gentle breeze swept over the grass and flowed into their hair and clothes.

Fischl gently folded the apron she held near and dear to her heart, prepared by her beloved Collei. It was a must to have it on whenever she walked into the kitchen. The ravens were now paled out with flour and sugar, Fischl made a mental note to give it a thorough wash-up after the party was over. 

They settled on the grass, Collei sitting and Fischl laying down with her head on her lap. 

“Do you… like it here, Collei?” she reached up to brush away a strand of hair that tickled Collei’s nose. 

“Yeah, sure. It’s beautiful and the people are so nice. Do you?”   

“Well, of course. I have created many fond memories during my travels.” Fischl closed her eyes peacefully, “But, it is a lot more enjoyable when you visit it with your betrothed.”

Collei’s eyes widened before she bursted into laughter, “I don’t think my Prinzessin knows the meaning of betrothed.”

“Hm?” 

Collei averted her gaze, “It means um… Engaged, you know…”

“It does?” 

Fischl sounded so surprised that her voice was returning to its natural tone, it wasn’t often that she would fail to absorb words she read in books into her vocabulary. 

“Indeed it does, my Prinzessin.” Collei reminded her. 

Fischl cleared her throat, “Oh… In that case, the Prinzessin stands corrected.” 

She scratched her head, trying to figure out where she adopted it from, wrongfully so.

“Strange, I thought it just meant the one you loved.” she thought out loud. 

Collei's cheeks turned red. 

She was the one Fischl loved. And it was always so endearing and heart-warming no matter who she was, whether it be the Prinzessin or just Fischl. It didn’t change anything other than Collei’s position, which swayed between Fischl’s princess or her girlfriend depending on the circumstances. 

It all remained the same, how Fischl rested on Collei’s lap. A constant, even though the setting would never stay the same. But that was the exciting part, getting to travel the world together and experience all of it together. Climbing its hills, soaking in its rivers, walking on the paths of villages they have never been to before. 

Embracing all that's new with open arms as they reveled in the comfort and familiarity of each other's presence.

How could you feel homesick when home was a person that stuck by your side no matter what?

It was Fischl who had first taken Collei’s hand inside her own, and after that, Collei never felt weak ever again, not one day in her life. She didn’t feel scared, alone and misunderstood anymore. She didn’t feel hurt or sick, a wilting flower like she used to. 

Instead, she was in bloom. 

Seeds of love were planted deep within her heart, flourishing alongside her soul with each passing day. The soil of it being nurtured and fed with affection every time she cried of laughter with Fischl, everytime she fell asleep on Collei’s shoulder, and everytime they held each other tight as storms roared outside. 

“I love you, Fischl.” she spoke softly right before they headed inside. 

“Settle down everyone and gather around, for I hold a tale unlike any between my two lips!” Hu Tao reeled all the guests in with her cheerful yet mysterious voice and the ridiculous outfit she had on. 

“Prepare to laugh, prepare to cry, prepare to say ‘awwwww’ and clutch your pearls! These outlanders will bring you a touching story about a brave knight, and her beloved princess that she must save from the forces of evil.” 

With every sentence she pointed to a different audience member, making everyone giggle as Kokomi watched her with a loving gaze. 

Lastly, she pointed at herself and held the two pieces of fabric acting as a curtain in front of their small stage, “Yours truly, starring as their trusted companion. Enjoy!” 

Applause and whistles filled the house as the lights dimmed down. Thus, the play commenced.
