No spoilers to even be discussed for Jujutsu Kaisen's latest chapter, unless you count the reveal that Gege is sick, the story will only return 21 days later after this chapter, and this chapter ends in 6 pages as "spoilers."
So you too, huh, Gege? Tough week, tough days? A lotta stress, some quiet distress?
I know I jokingly gave this dude shit a few times before, especially when bantering with Crow, Sister, and Best Friend. It's fun! Gege is a fucking troll; shitting on him is part of the contract.
But...
I wonder how stressed out he had to be for this week. He made this colored page and the cover, meaning he wouldn't have been able to call in sick because he was supposed to bear the Shonen Jump flag this week. That's why he just presented 6 pages with the last looking pretty rough, innit? Figured he can't sit out of this week.
His last chapter was a bombshell, and I don't knowāthe wave it kicked up seemed more notorious than favorable, and though he could certainly bask in a certain level of infamy (uh hem, c236), I don't think c261 is similar. C236 was a pop culture phenomenon that was both infamous but also... chaotic fun? In a way? C261, though, lacked that other aspect, at least the way I saw it. A ton of people panned it, and he didn't really start another c236-style legendary meme.
Even if Gege were a troll, I don't think he wouldn't crack under continuous criticism, especially if they feel like threats and personal attacks rather than either serious critiques or something that one can, on some level, see as ribbing-within-the-context-of-the-story. Some people seem to even relish in making fun of his health concern this time, iono. That can't be something that has only happened right now.
If Gege were the type to have menstruation, I think his period would have stopped for this month out of sheer stress, haha. I wonder what his health issue could be... Did he faint, maybe?
I hope he's doing okay. Not because he's some mangaka who draws my favorite (and flawed) manga, or created my favorite (and flawed) biases (THANK YOU BRO), or because he's some celeb.
I hope he's resting well and getting better and has the financial means and resources to get appropriate medical help and has good peopleāfriends or family or strangers or neighbors or his manga team etc.āto support him. Because Gege is just some dude, man. And all dudes, especially when sick, will need this.

This might be an odd question to ask, but what would you say is a good way to get better at drawing smut? I've tried working on improving my anatomy and expressions, which has helped, but I still find myself cringing at anything I draw that's spicier than bare chests. I just can't take it seriously, but I want to draw some smut! Did you go through the same? Any pointers?
Ooooh this is a great question actually! Get ready for a tl;dr response because I like to talk about this shit, lol.
First: my general suggestion for getting over the cringe factor would be to just consume a lot of porn. Like a LOT, both drawn and live action, and be extremely honest with yourself about it - what turns you on and why? What is an artist or scene doing that you really like? Do you like the way an artist draws cum, or the shading on those tits? If you can identify that and get comfortable with your own feelings and interests, then you can lean into that energy and make art that feels successful (and arousing, rather than cringe!) to you. Make your own library of art and live action porn and revisit it frequently. I say this because I think the biggest hurdle for me personally was bridging the gap between the porn I enjoy consuming and the art I was comfortable with/felt capable making, and there was definitely some awkwardness while I figured that out.
Also: getting very comfortable with anatomy is an essential foundation, but it's only part of the skill set for drawing NSFW. Of course, I really recommend doing studies from porn screenshots, gifs, etc - but also do studies from other artists. IMO successful drawn porn does so much that live action can't. It utilizes different levels of exaggeration (anatomy and expression, camera angles, extreme closeups, more cum/fluids than real life) and has it's own visual language to convey sensation (think shock and motion lines, blush, sweat, breath clouds, xray shots, SFX, etc).
Even if hentai isn't your thing or you don't have a super cartoony style, I think it's very worth studying hentai manga to observe everything I just mentioned. Also, JAV (Japanese Adult Video) utilizes a lot of dynamic poses and camera angles that differ from western porn and have helped me a lot when thinking about how to draw more interesting scenes.
In general though, drawing porn is really a balance between taking the craft/your technique seriously and not taking YOURSELF too seriously. All porn is kinda over the top and a little dumb sometimes tbh, so draw that stupid orgasm face. Make the dick bigger than you originally drew it. Draw 50% more fluids. Chances are if you're already a little hesitant about the subject matter, you have plenty of room to push those things without veering into the realm of "too much"!
And most importantly, have fun with it! NSFW art is one of the most affirming, freeing, and *interesting* creative spaces to play around in, and if you really immerse yourself in it I think it's enriching in a lot of ways, not just artistically.
Sending lots of lewd creative energy your way, and I hope my rambling is useful!! āØļø

Okay, so letās see if I can pinpoint why this manga had a big first impression on me.
- I saw vague posts about people liking it or being excited about the prospect of it, which rubbed off on me, and makes me feel like this series has more of an impact than the last few, which I didnāt see many people talk about
- Iām in a good mood right now, with my dreams and goals in mind, leaving me more open-minded to watching/reading something new than I would be if I was in a bad mood or stressed
- The art style and character designs are downright gorgeous! After the first series (Bakuten Shoot), the characters in the later ones didnāt have designs that really appealed to me.
- It feels like it focuses on the bladers rather than just the beyblades. I feel like Burst focused more on the Beyblades and didnāt flesh out the characters as much. Thatās just my opinion based on the bits and pieces I saw.
- It feels like it has a good level ofā¦ tenseness? It starts out in the middle of a tournament, unlike Burst, where the characters are playing in school. And it feels more grounded than Metal Fight. I donāt yet know if it has fantasy elements, but I am hoping for some bit beasts and danger! I do love the overly dramatic elements in the original series, like Beyblades destroying the world, but it all depends on how they go about it. So I have to wait to see how this goes. I liked how Bakuten did the dramatic fantasy stuff, but I didnāt like how Metal Fight did it, and I canāt pinpoint exactly why. They just had different tones. Anyway, I canāt comment on how that will be in X yet.
- Not to stereotype, but it feels more for women like meā¦ or maybe I should say more for anyone with my sensibilities. It focuses more on human emotion than on battles, and they make the characters very beautiful.
- Iām instantly in love with Kamen X/ Ex Kurosu! Heās like The Irresponsible Captain Tylor as a beautiful Beyblade boy! His carefree personality is the kind of contagious relaxed optimism that I want in my life. The message he gives to Bird is exactly what I need to hear right now, as I make an āeffortā to progress my career as a freelance artist. Iāve been getting so stressed out about trying to figure out how to make a living with my art that I was having trouble drawing. I forgot to have fun with it. In order to be a successful artist, I need to love what I do. I need to enjoy the process and play and have fun with it, and then I will be able to draw pretty pictures that people love and succeed. If I think of it as just work, Iāll be like Bird without his Beyblade. I canāt lose that joy and playfulness. Kamen X reminded me of that. <3
- Bird is relatable because heās been struggling with having fun with his passion from worrying too much about success.
- Kurosuās hands are so gorgeously drawn, so when heās wearing a mask, I keep gazing at them! Theyāre so manly, and they have so much personality!
- I had seen pictures of a blue haired boy on Twitter and saw tweets that he will be voiced by Soma Saito, so I had a hunch that I would like this character. I fell in love with Kamen X while he was wearing his helmet, and I was like āwow, I already have a favorite, and I havenāt even met the blue haired boy yet!ā Well, it turns out it was him, so thereās no contest there. xD

Do you have any tips for drawing unique speech bubbles? I'm having trouble figuring out how to draw different tones of voices and moods.
For this ask, Iād like to start with a common linguistic experiment.Ā
Please check out the following shapes!
If I told you that one of these shapes is calledĀ āboubaā and the other is calledĀ ākikiā, which name would you assign to each shape? Donāt overthink this - there isnāt aĀ ārightā answer.Ā
However, there IS a very strong association in the English language (and most other related languages) between specific sounds and specific shapes. We have been more or less trained to associate not only specific consonants (b and k) with rounder or sharper shapes, we have also been trained toĀ āreadā tone through speech bubbles.Ā
For the shapes above - most people who speak English or an Indo-European language as their first language will name the spiky oneĀ ākikiā and the round oneĀ āboubaā. Shapes matter to us - they reinforce the sound and tone and feeling with the words associated inside!Ā This concept will be the baseline for you when creating ANY speechbubble shapes.
Shapes and sounds and tone are inherently connected, and you already know about it, even if you donāt realize it consciously!
Take the speech bubbles below - does anything seem off about it?
The rounder speech bubble can pass because itās the mostĀ ābasicā one and we can associate it with pretty much any form of speech, but the gentler tone of the words in the first one clashes with how sharp and spiky it is. These are the things you must consider when you create speech bubbles for any comic.Ā
Hereās a a basic guide to speech bubbles found in manga that you may be able to recognize automatically:
Now, you specifically mentioned drawingĀ āuniqueā speech bubbles. What does that mean?
I canāt quite understand your intent: Do you want your speech bubbles to be unique to your comic? Do you want a shape that closely relates to what the characters are saying? Is there a specific type of speech bubble you want to create for a type of speech - speech coming through the radio thatās static-riddled, or the speech or a robot, or the scream of a demonic entity thatās just broken through the skin of our world from within its own?Ā
Iād recommend thinking about the following as you draw:
1 - What is the tone of the character speaking? Does their speech need to be sharp and eye-drawing, or is it soft, and rounded out?
2 - What is the style of your comic? What shapes would fit better with your backgrounds? What would match the lineart you use?Ā
3 - Do you want the speech-bubbles to stand out and catch the readerās attention, or would you rather they fit more naturally in with the rest of your drawings, in order to create more of a balance?Ā
Iāll leave you with the following infograph, just for fun and to give you some ideas, in case you arenāt quite decided or need more inspiration:

do u know any other comics/BLs like 19days? #š„Ŗ
Hey dear!
Ohh that's a good question. I don't know any quite like 19 days, an ongoing story that is ultra slow burn. I have read some other amazing BLs though. Here's some that I like:
.
Totally Captivated
ā¢ Complete | 49 chapters plus some extras
ā¢ General vibe: humor, romance
If you like the mafia background of 19 days, an amazing manhwa is Totally Captivated. Lighthearted, fun and very hot š„ One character gives me strong He Tian vibes, both in appearance and in attitude. Plus, the main couple has some fantastic chemistry.
Summary: Jung Ewon has always let his curiosity get the best of him, but even he could not have predicted that his latest venture would lead to him working for the mafia.
After cheating on his boyfriend and consequently being dumped, Ewon longs for the two of them to reconcile. However, his ex's new boyfriend, the handsome Eun Mookyul, begins to take an interest in him. Finding Ewon intriguing, Mookyul, a mafia boss, decides that he wants Ewon to become his underlingāand that's just the start of Ewon's problems.
As the new errand boy in Mookyul's gang, Ewon must now learn to navigate the dangerous world of the mafia all while resisting the advances of his ex-boyfriend's new lover. Should he give in to his desires, he will risk more than just another heartbreak.
At the End of the Road
ā¢ Complete | 57 chapters plus extras
ā¢ General vibe: dark themes, romance, plot heavy
The summary makes this one sound pretty complicated so I procrastinated checking it out for a bit. When I finally read it I was blown away. The plot is incredible, the romantic interest is ugh so good. The entire story leaves me with a warm feeling of destiny and serendipity. It gets dark and it demands quite a bit of attention but it is definitely worthwhile.
Summary: After a car accident, Taemin finds himself in the body of Siwon, a victim of bullying at school. No longer a pushover, he starts standing up for himself but then meets Woojin, an old friend from the past. Somehow, Woojin immediately picks up Taemin's 'scent' from Siwon. What happened between these two in the past and how will it affect their future?
Walk on Water
ā¢ Complete | 62 chapters
ā¢ General vibe: romance, hot sex
Ok, this one is a delight to read. It's another one of those "straight guy goes gay for the right guy" kind of plot, but it's beautifully done. The characters' progress feels authentic. You're on the edge of your seat rooting for them. Plus, the art is amazing?? I'd stop reading sometimes just to admire it. @ the artist you didn't have to go this hard and yet you did dude!! Fantstic job.
Plus the sex scenes are just on fire. Phew š„µ
Explicit sex so don't check it out if you're under 18, stay safe, yadda, yadda.
Summary: To earn money, Ed decided to enter the pornographic industry. Secretly, he begins working under the alias of "Tommy". One day, it was suddenly decided that he would be filming as a bottom instead of a top and he's doing it with the famous Glen McQueen as his partner?
No. 6
ā¢ Complete | 9 books or 9 mangas (I read the books actually, but the manga is the same story)
ā¢ General vibe: social commentary, romance, plot heavy
My all time favorite on the list might be No. 6. No. 6 reads more like 'social political commentary ft. a couple that happens to be boys', rather than a boys love story per see. The plot doesn't revolve around their romance, their romance is also happening in the midst of the chaos. And it is beautiful to watch.
Story wise, No. 6 is a dystopic tale, and it brings up themes of consumption under capitalism, outsourcing of labor, outsorcing of inequalities and goverment control. It's not recent so you might have read it already - if you haven't I can't recommend it enough.
A PERFECT LIFE, IN A PERFECT CITY
For Shion, an elite student in the technologically sophisticated city No. 6, life is carefully choreographed. School, study, and the occasional visit with his friend and classmate Safu. One fateful day, however, he takes a misstep, sheltering an injured boy his age from a typhoon. Known only as Rat, this boy is a VC ā a fugitive living outside the computerized tapestry of city control ā and helping him will throw Shionās life into chaos and start him down a path to discovering the appalling secrets behind the superficial perfection of No. 6.
Seven Days
ā¢ Complete | 2 volumes
ā¢ General vibe: school life, romance
No way you haven't read this, but just in case: seven days!! Go check out seven days!! Seven Days is the BL. School life plots peaked with this one haha It's just two volumes and the story is beautifully done. I re-read from time to time when I want a pick me up.
Summary: On a whim, high school third-year Yuzuru Shino asks out first-year Toji Seryo, who is notorious for being a weeklong loverāheāll date the first girl to ask him out Monday morning and then promptly dump her by the following Monday! The boys start dating, and by Tuesday, the first inklings of attraction hit. Can these two put words to their feelings before Monday comes, or are old habits too hard to break?
Blue Sky Complex
ā¢ Complete | 23 chapters
ā¢ General vibe: school life, humor, romance
Another school life story for the list. Blue Sky Complex has some truly hilarious moments, with teenage fumblings that ache with how true to life they are. Zero drama, zero outside interference, just the two main characters slowly (but surely) figuring things out.
Summary: Narasaki only wanted a place where he could sit and read books in peace, but was blackmailed by his teacher into supervising a delinquent called Terashima while working at the school library.
As they spend their days in silent but close proximity, they begin to feel drawn to each other. And then...
Doukyuusei
ā¢ Complete | 2 volumes (second is called Sotsugyousey)
ā¢ General vibe: lightehearted fun
Fun fact: I went to Japan once and I wanted to buy a book in Japanese just to have it, you know? I don't speak Japanese, I just wanted a book as a souvenir. I bought Doukyuusei. Clearly I'm biased towards this story in particular haha
Everything by this author is gold. Their art style flows, the characters have a certain lightness to them that makes them almost dance in the pages. The author usually draw at least one of the leads with long hair and the hair is so well done, GOD. I could gush about the hair all day.
Perhaps one of the most realistic ones of the list, Doukyuusei is a school life story about when you meet someone at just the right time.
Summary: "A boy boy met a boy. They were in the flush of youth. They were in love that felt like a dream, like sparkling soda pop."
High school studentsĀ Hiraku Kusakabe andĀ Rihito SajouĀ are as different as day and night. But opposites attract and before they know it, they've embarked on a journey neither one can quite define but which anyone with eyes can see is "Love."
Mo Dao Zu Shi
ā¢ Complete | 126 chapters
ā¢ General vibe: slow burn, historical, epic romance
At the risk of being very cliche here: if you haven't read Mo Dao Zu Shi, you're wasting time. Go. This one isn't a manga, but it a fantastic book. It became uber famous for a reason, you know? All the attention is very much deserved. I can't emphasize enough how good it is.
You can watch the TV show The Untamed as well (and the acting is fantastic) but, to me, the experience is just not the same. The TV show removes all explicit romance references from the story, in order to comply with China's censorship. The book leaves nothing out. It is very much a romance, through and through, and it's an epic one. There's slow burn, pining, misunderstandings, fighting everything and everyone for your loved one and coming out stronger on the other side. Truly worth the read.
As the grandmaster who founded theĀ Demonic Path,Ā Wei WuxianĀ roamed the world in his wanton ways, hated by millions for the chaos he created. In the end, he was backstabbed by his brother and killed by powerful clans that combined to overpower him. He incarnates into the body of aĀ lunatic who was abandoned by hisĀ clam and is later, unwillingly, taken away by a famous cultivator among the clans ā Lan Wanji. This marks the start of a thrilling yet hilarious journey of attacking monsters, solving mysteries, and raising children. From the mutual flirtation along the way, Wei Wuxian slowly realizes that Lan Wangji, a seemingly haughty and indifferent poker-face, holds more feelings for Wei Wuxian than he is letting on.

so i get if u donāt wanna answer this cuz questions like this can be hard but!! iāve been trying to learn to draw for the last month or two, and since ur one of my favorite artists on here i was wondering what made you want to start drawing? was it something u always liked or did u get into a little later on? when u first started how did u pick up skills, and did u have any specific things that helped you develop ur style over time? again pls donāt feel like u have to answer any of this or anything, im just curious!!
Oh!! Anon I am absolutely honoured to be one of your fav artists here that's such high praise! Gonna be all giddy and smiley when I think about this aksdjfks
To be completely honest with you, I think my artist origin story is embarrassing but I'm happy to share :) I'm pretty sure there are photos of like... toddler me drawing on those magnetic drawing board things so art has probably always been something I enjoy haha. But I actually got invested in art when I was 8 and my brother started reading manga, which prompted me to do that too. I fell in love with the art style I saw in fairy tail and for years I was really inspired by it. I'm not sure if the fairy tail influence still shows in my art but my guess is that there's still an anime-sque aspect to the way I draw? But more on that later.
I don't know what your opinion is on tracing - some people say it's cheating, others don't, whatever - but that's how I started. I wasn't really putting much thought into it, because I was 8, but the thing with tracing is that it's a good way to get used to drawing certain proportions. I don't have any photos of the stuff I did when tracing, but if you look up fairy tail panels you'll get an idea of the style I was trying to learn at the time. Then my family found out I was just tracing stuff and made fun of me for it (I'm still salty about that over a decade later lmao) so I graduated to copying :)
I never enjoyed the concept of properly measuring things out to get exact proportions when I was copying panels, which was inconvenient in some ways but was actually a great way to train my eyes for observational drawing! The trick here is to start small and simple before you move on to more complex images. Did I do that? Probably not, but I'm too ambitious for my own good when it comes to art. Here's some stuff I accomplished during that stage! If you scroll all the down to the first posts I made on my instagram account you can find more that are similar to the one on the right
I did try exploring a style of my own, one based on my imagination rather than simply copying images, but ho boy that was a struggle. It also happened around the time I was starting to get interested in digital art (I must've been around 15yo?) so it was just a whole mess. I don't particularly feel like going into the details of everything I was trying at the time because I really don't remember much of it but my best baby steps were the ones where I observed the styles of artists I really liked. Luckily for me, a couple of my faves posted speedpaints and stuff on youtube, some of which I watched religiously, and it pushed me to experiment with some of the techniques they used. It helped me a lot when trying to find brushes and colouring techniques I liked.
In all honesty though, I think the most progress I've made has been in the past year? This feels embarrassing to say but glee gave me a massive rush of inspiration and I started churning out art like the unhinged sleep-deprived gremlin I am and I allowed myself to experiment with a lot of different things. Figuring out what brushes I like to use, a colouring system that works for me (it still changes regularly ngl), pushing myself with more complex backgrounds and dynamic poses, things like that. I'm still always inspired by other artists, some whom I have admired ever since I started drawing and posting fanart (my main inspiration these days is kkumri!! I've been a fan of her art since my fairy tail days lmao and since her art style is heavily influenced by anime, mine still is too). I guess what I'm saying is that experimentation and practice are key, but it also helps to find things you like about other artists' styles and implement them into your own.
You'll notice I haven't talked about anatomy yet. I wanted to write that in a separate section because anatomy has been its own separate, annoying monster for me. Which is entirely my fault, because I didn't really try learning anatomy until I left my copying stage, and by then a lot of habits had already formed. What helped me the most here was observational drawing! Human anatomy is wildly confusing for me, and trying to learn how to draw the entire body was too stressful, so I like identifying something I struggle with and focusing on it for a while. For example, a while back, I started the 100 heads challenge because I was struggling with faces. My goal was to draw 10 faces a day, for 10 days, and even though I gave up halfway through at only 50 heads, it helped a lot. Last summer, I got really frustrated with hands because I was drawing them more often but they never looked right, so for a few days I would just. sit down. and take the time to sketch out some hands based on a wide variety of references. just hand in different positions, from different perspectives. same with feet. When I started drawing more dynamic poses for the sports aus, I practiced figure drawing and just... Focused on the flow of a pose rather than letting myself get bogged down by details. Sometimes I like drawing in monochromatic to focus on where the lighting is coming from and how it affects the positioning and shape of shadows (that's actually how I started the furtana hiking drawing! coloured in greyscale first!).
I still struggle with things like muscles and clothing folds, both of which are things I know I need to practice and haven't gotten around to doing anytime recently, but to practice those I would take the same approach that I did for anatomy stuff. References are so so important and helpful!! They're actually life-savers for me!
This is getting long so I'll just leave it off here with some final thoughts. This is all stuff that has (kinda) worked for me, and it might not work for you. Everyone has different methods of approaching art and it takes a while to figure out what works best for you. That said, I'm always happy to talk more about art if you have more questions! I'm not sure if you're interested in seeing my usual art process and stuff like that but if you are, ask away! Also, last thought - be nice to yourself! I tend to get really impatient and frustrated if things aren't turning out the way I want them to, but art is just one of those things that takes time and practice. Realistically, your art isn't going to look exactly like you want it to, but that doesn't mean you're not making progress <3
#ask md#anonymous#art asks#my art journey is actually a mess lmao but i hope it helps!#and good luck with yours! im excited for u!#sorry this took me a bit of time to answer dshfdfjhgk i wanted to make sure it was thorough#so many thoughts on this tbh so you're always welcome to ask me more :)

Interview with Noda Satoru from the Golden Kamuy fanbook
sharing anywhere is fine, but please credit me.
Q: Tell me how you feel about passing 6 years of serialization. Noda: I was already serializing at the time of my debut, so I guess Iād be able to give a summary when Iām finished. I donāt really think about how many years itās been, itās merely a checkpoint.
Q: What made you decide to become a mangaka? Noda: I feel like I wrote it down as my goal in my yearbook back in middle school. I also wanted to become a movie director, but as a mangaka you can create the entire thing by yourself.Ā
When Golden Kamuy just took off I was living in a tiny apartment and the postman, a young fellow and a reader of Young Jump, realized that Iām Noda Satoru. The magazine was sending me a lot of things, so it was rather obvious. āAre you the author of Golden Kamuy?ā, he asked in a surprised tone while looking around the cramped entryway. I could feel feel his confusion regarding the fact that that vast Hokkaido world of the manga was being created in this modest apartment. Or maybe he just expected me to be making more money and afford a better place. Anyhow, I just thought again about how a manga can be created in even the smallest room in the universe.
Q: Who is your favorite character and why? Noda: As always, itās Tanigaki. But well, I love all of them. I want to showcase only the best parts of them, and it hurts when I fail. For example Iām very happy that thereās a character who stirs the pot as well as Usami. Heād be Katsuo in the world of Sazae-san. Ā
Q: Which characters are the easiest to draw, and which ones are the most difficult? Noda: Characters like Shiraishi, Tsukishima and Nagakura, they donāt have a lot of hair and even if they turn out a little ugly their faces are well-defined so itās easy to draw. In general faces that are strongly distorted and resemble caricatures are easy. Meanwhile Asirpa, Kiroranke and Inkarmat have neat facial structures on top of wearing Ainu clothing, so they are a very high-calorie effort for me. Ogata and Kikuta are difficult too. Their faces are distinctive and I have to make them look cool too, which is wearing me out the most.
Q: Have you decided on all 24 convicts at the very start of the story? Noda: Wouldnāt I sound like a badass if I said that that I have? Anyway. There were the ones that were based off real-life Meiji era criminals, such as Shiraishi, Kumagishi Chouan or the lightning couple, and of course there was Hijikata.
Q: Tell me of a funny thing from the manga that you are fond of. Noda: Gansokuās āHah! āā. And also when Koito Jr. Was flapping his arms and legs around trying to keep himself in mid-air.
Q: Why did you decide on Otaru as the starting point? Noda: I am from Hokkaido, so Iām familiar with Otaru and Sapporo. Otaru is close to both the mountains and the sea. Sapporo used to be a swampland, itās wide and flat and there is no sea. Otaru is a place where foreigners come and go, there are many criminals roaming around creating danger, and money is found. There arenāt many big cities in Hokkaido. There were Ainu living in Otaru but sources are scarce, however Nakagawa-sensei, the supervisor over the Ainu language, told me not to worry too much about the difference of location, so I figured it would be best to make it Otaru.
Q: Was there any real life experience you had while growing up in Hokkaido that you turned into a scenario? Noda: When I was about 19 someone I knew told me that there is a locust graveyard on a nearby mountain, which sounded so ridiculous I had to laugh in their face. Turns out it indeed was a heap of locusts and their eggs left after a locust plague, that place was the Teineyamaguchi locust mound (a real historical site). I realized I ended up using this in my story. I owe that person an apology.
Q: Was there any scene that was particularly difficult to draw? Could you elaborate on it? Noda: The time Sugimoto went against Nihei and Tanigaki. It gave me a very hard time. Who goes where and does what, how does Nihei carry Asirpa, stuff like this. I had no time to waste either, I just remember that sequence overall driving me insane.Ā
There was also the sequence with Wilk, Sofia and Kiroranke being at Hasegawaās photo studio. Itās really frustrating to draw something that you know will bore the readers, the story flow becomes less exciting too. I was praying for everyone to have a little more patience and keep reading, because the twist was so good.
Q: If you were to take part in the gold hunt, which group would you like to belong to? Noda: It seems that Hijikataās group doesnāt have funding problems, and because Kadokura is there the atmosphere is relaxed too. Iād go there.
Q: If you were to find all that gold, how would you use it? Noda: No idea. Had a couple when I was younger, though.
Q: Were you planning to eventually transfer the action to Sakhalin from the very beginning of the series? Noda: Asirpa and Kiroranke have roots there, so I anticipated that the story will eventually move to Sakhalin. I also expected to have to travel to Amur river myself, but couldnāt go after all, only went as far as Khabarovsk.Ā
I was thinking of making Sugimoto eat permafrost mammoth. There was talk of a research team or an ivory excavation teamās dog eating mammoth. However there was no reason to make Sugimoto and Co go as up north as needed for permafrost, so I scrapped the idea.
Q: Tell me something about the hardships you experienced while doing research is Sakhalin. Noda: It was tough, but fun. I was only able to understand the clear differences between Nivkh and Orok people by going there; I couldn't by only looking at records and materials while in Japan.Ā
Complete unrelated, but I was surprised by how many stray dogs wander around there. One time my cameraman and I ended up being chased by one while looking for a factory and we had to run for it. The beast was big, about the size of a German Shepherd. The guide also warned us about junkies, it was really scary.
I also went to the Japanese military pillbox over 50th parallel north and prayed at a cenotaph deep in the mountains. I met a group of Japanese people in the hotel by the place where it's said you can still find remains of Japanese soldiers and their driver, a Russian, seemed to help with collection of the remains on the regular. He said that he's doing it out of reverence, even as a former enemy. As a Japanese, I felt gratitude. The 7th Division are villains in my story, but I don't have any personal bias against either side.
Q: What were the biggest differences between drawing Hokkaido and Sakhalin? Noda: Well... it's Russia. Even though Sakhalin is so close, it's already Europe. The structure of houses is strikingly different. There's also the differences between Hokkaido Ainu and Sakhalin Ainu, and differences between Orok and Nivkh people. There is no manga that will conveniently lay the differences of those down for you.Ā
It seems that the Orok and Nivkh's relation with Japan only got more difficult by the beginning of Showa era, there is only one person in the whole of Japan who can supervise on the Orok language. The professors in cultural studies I consult for Golden Kamuy are truly top-level; not only are they tremendously knowledgeable, they also understand how important to me is to stay impartial.
The wildlife, as well. There's a biogeographical boundary between Hokkaido and Sakhalin, observing animals I would never be able to see in Hokkaido was riveting.Ā
Q: Did Sugimoto really have a hidden plan during the whole stenka business? Noda: No idea. Even if he used it as a pretext to get everyone involved, though... cut him some slack. He's only a man. Sometimes he just wants to fight and win. Not for Ume-chan or Asirpa-san, just for the sake of proving to himself that he's strong.
Q: Your art is dynamic and detailed. I think your style changed quite a bit with time, though. How would you describe yourself as an artist? Noda: I want to preface this by saying that in no way do I think of myself as more skilled than other mangaka, but if you're drawing everyday for more than 10 hours you're going to improve a lot eventually, whether you want it or not. People who are able to keep the same style for years without change are the ones who are impressive, because it means that they achieved the peak of their potential. Ageing and health problems influence your art a lot, you know. I try to draw by observing. I use a lot of references. Drawing by memory alone is not a good thing.
Speaking of other artists, I once had one of the assistants I had working for me for years draw me a door knob from memory, and the result was a truncated cone resembling pre-packaged pudding. The actual shape of a door knob has an intricately angular circular shape. It's the result of being unobservant in everyday life. Good art requires constant observation.
Q: What was the foundation for your style? Is there an artist you were influenced or inspired by? Noda: Araki Hirohiko-sensei, for sure. During my time as an assistant, many authors told me to not even try to be original when it comes to battle abilities, it's already been done in JoJo, it has it all. He's kind of the Beatles of this industry, isn't he?Ā
By the way, I usually have no intention of parodying JoJo in Golden Kamuy, but my friends will tell me that they identified this or that reference from time to time. I read Part 1 about 30 years ago but I was obsessed, so maybe some things were just left in my subconscious. I only did one obvious parody, during the stenka fight. Funnily enough that trope started in Fist of the North Star, though, not JoJo.
Q: What's one thing that gives you the most motivation to write? Noda: Fan letters. I know how straining it is to write long and neat sentences by hand, and am thankful for them. I'm happy that people go that far to share their thoughts about my work with me. I'm really grateful to the people who keep reading and supporting Golden Kamuy.
Q: Did you have an interest in Ainu culture before starting the series? Noda: I did not. I'll be glad if my work makes people interested in the Ainu. Prejudice is born out of ignorance, so if you want to learn about the Ainu, don't limit yourself to Hokkaido only; there are museums all around Japan, and they have knowledgeable curators. It's important to remember to take into account the time period and the occupation of the person on which the research materials are based when you're trying to learn about the subject.
Q: You showed us a lot of aspects of life during Meiji and Taisho eras. Tell us about what surprised or impressed you in the process of research. Noda: It's not that I was particularly knowledgeable, so having to check every single thing was quite exhausting. The Ainu, the military, katanas - all of these needed research on my part.Ā
There are more regulations and rules set for things out there than one could assume, and mangaka who base their works on real life need to be especially careful about this. You have to take into account things like the size of the buttons on a military uniform, how a tea cup is held, and and how different people talk in different ways. For movies there's staff working on costumes and props, there's the cast, there are screenwriters, but in a manga you are the one responsible for every single detail. I wish I had a time machine and travel back to those eras. There are things I couldn't get right here and there that I keep having regrets about.
Q: Golden Kamuy was the main visual in the British Museum manga exhibition between May and August in 2019. I know you went there in person. How was it? Noda: The trip felt like a reward for all of my efforts. The exhibition is jam-packed by opening time, but I got special treatment and they let me inside early in the morning so I could walk around the vast British Museum in solitude. I also travelled between Jack the Ripper's crime scenes at night by taxi.
The driver in a taxi I caught by chance was wonderful, she looked up photos of the crime scenes and surroundings taken at the time of investigation on her smartphone and showed them to me one by one, saying things like "the third victim was found here!".Ā
I've always had a soft spot for Jack the Ripper, back in middle school I even wrote a screenplay for a school festival stage and played him in it myself. It was done in very poor taste, like that one scene in the Addams Family movie where there are arms blown away and fountains of blood gushing out. The audience loved it.Ā
Q: Please leave a message for the readers. Or maybe some advice for the troubled youth. Noda: I want people to say that everyone in Golden Kamuy had a satisfying ending, and I want that for everyone involved more than anything. As for advice for the troubled youth, there's none. Life is survival of the fittest. The weak ones get eaten.

Digital vs. Traditional Art, Re: Berserk
Today I went to the 30th Anniversary Berserk Exhibition in Hirakata Park. Im planning on making a longer post with some photos and some other things to talk about the exhibit as a whole (spoiler: it was awesome).
The exhibit was about 20% elaborate plastic models and replicas (which we were allowed to photograph) and 80% original manga panel drawings (which we were not allowed to photograph). Seeing the original panels in person was amazing, and also quite surprising.
The main thing that surprised me was the number of materials used. Miura is known for his beautiful, dynamic art, but it was only upon seeing it in person that the creation of these pieces went far beyond just drawing something well or creatively. Black and white ink was utilized, as well as white out and deleter sheets. He also used large, thick black pens, graphite pencil (especially when drawing Griffith, who appeared to be uninked in several final versions to give him that ethereal, angelic quality), and a number of different sizes of pen, even when drawing a single figure. His drawings werent just linework-- it was highly textured. One of the most brilliant things he did was use ink splatter-- which, in person, you can clearly see is literally just ink splattered from a pen-- in order to project an image of something being dirty or chaotic, such as in fight or battle scenes.
Its a whole ecosystem in there, is what Iām trying to say.Ā
This all begins to change though some time after the eclipse, right around the end of the Conviction Arc.Ā
Now, this is just my personal opinion but, after the Conviction Arc it always felt like the story sort of... fell off. It wasnt that it god bad, but there was just something that wasnt the same. It began to feel less like an earth shattering fantasy epic and more like... just a regular anime.
Many people attributed this to Miura growing older, his interests shifting, or studio pressure. I, however, have a different theory-- I believe it was due to the shift in digital art.
You can see in the artwork once Miura begins to do more digital rather than analog pieces that there is a certain degree of restraint whichĀ you dont find it earlier works. Character linework becomes crisp and defined. Miuraās dynamic cross hatching is replaced with more standard shading techniques. You can see this in the manga too, but when faced with it in person the difference is incredibly striking.
ANALOG
DIGITAL
I had believed for a long time that maybe his style was just changing. He just had different interests. Then, however, I got to the end where they had an interview with him, filmed a few months before his death.Ā
In the interview they ask him if he prefers digital or analog art, and he has a very surprising answer. I was not allowed to record, so I cant say it in entirety, but he is very eager to descibe analog drawing asĀ ālike calligraphyā.Ā
As he describes his process in analog drawing, he mentions several times that it is a process that relies almost entirely on creative flow. You begin a piece with an idea, and then let the pen and page carry you to the final work. He describes how it wasĀ āextremely fun, but difficult for othersā because when drawing analog, he may decide to change a scene entirely or a perspective. It was an organic process.
Digital, however, he describes asĀ āsynthesizingā-- he seems to enjoy doing digital work, but he mentions how it gives you the ability to go into very deep detail. It allows you to plan out your work, change it and mold it. It also allows you to work more closely with others, delivering a cleaner yet more studied product.
He did not state a preference. Perhaps he never had a preference.
But after watching that interview and looking at the work in the hall, I began to wonder about the story of Berserk. How it began to feel formulaic and somewhat dry. It was less dark and dreary of course, but it also just didnt seem to flow the same way that it had before.Ā
It is only a theory. It can only be a theory I guess, I doubt even Miura himself would know if he could say. But after seeing what I saw, I now attribute this to the shift to digital. Once the work became digital, it stopped being just an exercise in free flowing creativity, and instead became something synthesized, planned, and heavily managed.Ā
Earlier panels in Berserk may not look as polished. They have a chaos to them that can sometimes make it hard to follow with your eyes, and the amount of black, dark ink used fills the page to sometimes make things near unrecognizable.Ā
But... I dont know. I think thatās sort of a part of the whole thing. Miura was a visual story teller first and foremost. Moving to digital-- in my opinion-- removed much of that artistic agency and creative flow, and for that-- again, in my opinion-- the story (and the art) suffered.
He did, at least, still seem quite happy. I dont mind if I dont like some of the last chapters. I just hope he enjoyed making them.

Hi Yusei! I really admire your drawings, and you are so talented! Do you have any tips for beginner artists trying to improve? Thank you and have a nice day :)
Hello, anon!! I was very happy to receive this message earlier, and I was thinking of how to reply this in a way that can help you. I'm glad to hear you've been enjoying my drawings 'v') that makes my day. Thank you for your polite message, I'd love to share some thoughts I have/things I went through from the years I spent drawing with you! I have lots and lots to learn in terms of skill, nor am I close to being professional..so please take everything with a grain of salt! my tips would work best for someone who draws for enjoyment and the fun of it.
1. If you're a self-taught artist and you have very little base to start off from, I believe the first thing you can try is to find inspirations & a role model whose style could influence you in a positive way. (Don't make this a single person, make this a lot of people so that you can expand and grow your own style and form originality.)People say you need references to make a good drawing, and I agree with that on a lot of levels, but for a real beginner, even figuring out what resources are good can be a challenge in itself. Those resources are either already too good or too complex, and are fit for artists who have a moderate skill. So the easy shortcut here is to find artists whose works you really enjoy and try and pick up what elements they use that really inspire you. If you want to draw comics, read comics but pay more attention to the way panels are delivered, how the artist incorporates their stories and divides each shots. If you want to draw anime characters, see how your favorite manga artists draw side faces (side faces are really hard to get at first and getting the proportions right takes some practicing!), the eyes, the pupils. If you enjoy drawing backgrounds and scenery, see how other artists choose to place each components in a way that makes the scenes look complete. Good artists/professions have whole theories and well-devised ways that they were taught that they put into their works, but we don't know of those just yet. Seeing a lot of other people's works (that they've put a lot of time and effort into, with lots of trials and errors) can teach you good lessons and give you a gist of things even without you having to understand those theories completely. In short: pick up what you like from your favorite works, and see what you want to do about your own. Remember that copying and being inspired are two very different things, though! You want to make something only you can make, that's the whole point of taking references!
2. The second important thing for beginner artists is that they should not be discouraged/compare their works to those that have already established a style after years of trial and error.
You're always, always going to see people who do better than you, or popular than you, or both. That's a given, they started out before you, and have worked for those skills for many years, maybe they have more talent compared to you, too, perhaps they could have received a good art education. But think of why are you drawing things in the first place. You WANT to draw, and how other people draw doesn't affect your own skills at all. Rather, they can inspire you and show you what other good things you can do in terms of your own work.
It's so easy to forget, but we all start from somewhere. And the important thing is that youāve chosen to begin. It was a pain to rummage through my old art, but here, you can see me gradually forming a style
I improve REALLY, REALLY slow. So the change happened through a span of years but you can see me gradually forming a style-
Iāve also come a long way, right? :)Ā
I actually recommend people to keep from posting their art before they form a style of some sort (for my case, I started practicing to draw people more seriously after 2011, and I waited till 2013 to start posting) because, although itās important for you to love your art, you also have to look at your art in a more objective manner. If youāre going to post something that belongs to you, under your name, youād like for it to get a positive reaction, or any sort of reaction but think about it, if you post something that has very little to offer, would it get a response youāll be satisfied on? And would you want that to represent you? Once you start posting on social media, youāll show off your things along with many other people who share the same interests. If you aim to post your works somewhere, make sure you have some baseline confidence about your works before you start sharing. Having trust about your own skills & believing you have something decent to offer to others is essential for you to keep from being discouraged, especially when there are so many amazingly skilled artists out there. Do not actively compare your works to other works in a negative light, or say negative things about your own works with your own mouth. If you want to continue putting your things out there, enjoy the whole process wholeheartedly and donāt dwell on the number of reactions you get. Instead, focus on the positive ones you receive and use that as a fuel to practice and create more with a happy heart.
3. Draw lots. On your own pace, donāt feel forced to, but donāt stop drawing. Take a break if you need to, but donāt give up entirely.
I took a photo of my sketchbooks Iāve used over the years (compared to professionals, this isnāt a lot, but I also tried really really hard! :) and all of the works here, I drew willingly for fun) I tend to sketch, instead of making a full-fledged piece.. I wonder if doing thatās better for you to improve but anyhow, Iāve been using up at least 1~2 pages every day for the past several years, digital or non-digital
because I really enjoy drawing and it lets off steam. you donāt have to push yourself to do that, itās just best to draw a lot though, if you draw lots and lots, the experience doesnāt lie. You will get better.
There WILL be ups and downs. Some of my 2013 art looked really bad compared to my 2011 work, some of my 2019 work looks weird even compared to my 2017 work, stuff like that happens, but improvement is meant to come, just give yourself time and have fun! You wonāt get better without practice.
4. Lastly, this is really helpful if you can: Find something you are very passionate about drawing and draw that over and over.
I believe this is something that applies to professionals too! I think I read an interview from either Yoshihiro Togashi(creator of hxh) or Akira Toriyama(creator of dragon ball) that they were really into something as a child and they drew that same thing over and over till they became good at it, and you know they ended up making one of the most well-known mangas in the world.
When I get into a series, I usually have 1~2 characters or a ship I end up really getting attached to. I draw them over and over because I can think of many stories and related to them, and I love sharing those with other people. I think having that sort of passion is important to keep you motivated & have fun with what you do, so if you find something like that, donāt hesitate and just draw and draw away!
I found this sketch from 2019(or 2020?) and there I have some characters I could draw right off the bat, itās like this: you like something a lot/have something you want to show, and art acts as a medium to express those.
Think about what you want to draw, and how you want to draw it, after lots of practicing, youāll only keep getting closer to that idea you envision in your head! Youāll learn new things on the way too~
The reply got a bit lengthy, but I think Iāve put in some of the most important tips I learned through my own experience, I hope this helps you!Ā
Hope you have a nice day! :)

A little art explanation time lol: aka my AssClass (re)designs???
This is party inspired by @/nagisushi and Fumiko, who have their own redesigns. Looking at theirs, I suddenly realized I have a few of my own that I never talked about haha.
But yeahhhhh. Letās start with my baby, my daughter, my absolute comfort character...
Kanzaki:
I think Iāve spoken way too much already about how I characterize her lol. And itās pretty different than canon but I like to think Iām saving her wasted potential š„³ /j
Her canon appearance fits in well with her character and how itās written in canon. Sheās a classic good girl, very nice and sweet and polite. Literally Kanzaki doesnāt even have many defined flaws in canon smh.
Anyways, yeah. She has long pin-straight black hair, innocent doe-like chestnut eyes, pale skin, etc. Just supposed to adhere to Japanese beauty standards. Which is fine but...
Hereās a sample drawing of how I make Kanzaki look in my art. Donāt mind the expression haha, I was just practicing for fun.
Some points:
As you can see, Iāve made her hair a lot more voluminous than it is in canon. I think itās much more fitting and makes sense, since it almost matches her 2nd year hairstyle
It also just?? Looks visually more pleasing?? Tbh. Her hair didnāt have any dimension in either the manga and anime, which I donāt blame. But I personally prefer it looking more similar to her previous 2nd year style
Her eyes arenāt as droopy and innocent-looking because no offense but fuck that. I just dislike Kanzaki acting and looking perfect and sweet, so that annoys me.
In my redesign hehe, I like to toy with different eye expressions. I think generally Kanzaki would act reserved and distant (esp in the beginning) so her eyes would reflect that kind of melancholy.
And afterwards as she grows into her own person, I love the idea of her having more of a ferocity to her gaze. Like sheāll stare down bullies with that look in her eyes all while having a sweet smile.
Overall I really would like to give her more of her 2nd year style. I think that whole aspect and storyline is what makes Kanzaki such a great and relatable character. To remove it in canon and keep her as the sweet popular pretty girl is such a disservice imo.
So when I draw her, I like to put her in some alternative styles and fashion. Sheād probably tone it down a lot compared to 2nd year, but sheād still love dressing that way.
Because you know...contrary to popular belief, your interests donāt have to just be phases. They can be meaningful parts of life that you can choose to keep with you for as long as you want.
Video games are very important to Kanzaki. She has a passion for them. She wouldnāt just discard that time of her life where she gave up academics for them and rebelled to try and gain some agency in her life.
Ok Iām done now, I should stop before I get upset lol
Next is my other precious daughter, none other than our adorable resident vocaloid!!
Ritsu:
Tbh I donāt really have issues with Ritsuās design itself, I just have one that I prefer. And there are some issues that are tied to the way that her character was handled...
Here is a drawing I made of Ritsu! Isnāt she so cute uwu?
Some points:
Canon tends to have a terrible habit of portraying her innocence in a weird borderline creepy way. Which I heavily dislike.
Ritsu being innocent?? Perfectly fine. But I portray it in more of an endearing way. Such as above with her wearing a cat headband lol.
Most of this is inspired by @/nagisushi who made a lovely redesign of Ritsu that I adored at first sight <3
Giving her a darker complexion? Thereās no real reason for it other than why not. It looks so pretty, against the pastel tones that she has too.
Her super wavy hair?? I just LOVE that omg. She looks bright and bubbly.
Also notice that I gave her a huge goofy smile. Thatās what I mean by innocent in an endearing and appropriate way.
You canāt see it too well in this pic since I gave her a basic outfit, but Iām really into the idea of Ritsu finding her own indivisible style
In contrast to canon, where she seems a bit generic and dresses in those terrible maid outfits hhhhhhhh
This all ties into the overall theme of her story, which is discovering herself and learning about humanity. Which means knowing who she is as a person now, since sheās not being controlled any longer.
(HMMMM both of my fav girls and they share this rather major theme in their story....Zaina are you ok?)
Anyways yeah to wrap this up before I start raging at 3am, letās all just let Ritsu be a kid. Let her go through a million phases of styles, ranging from emo to VSCO to try and figure out what suits her. Let Koro and 3-E be super supportive in all this.
Let her be her own individual rather than just some plot tool to support the cast when itās convenient.......
Ritsu being bubbly, charming, and goofy is everything. I love the idea of her being unintentionally wacky and 3-E just goes along with it.
Thatās it for now because I realized I donāt have the right doodles/drawings for some of my other faves lmao. But there will be more~
#assclass#ansatsu kyoushitsu#assassination classsroom#post#yukiko kanzaki#ritsu#meta#man...I never realized until now how similar they are tbh#you can literally just sum up this post#as me demanding for agency to be given to to these female characters who were done dirty#šš¤§š¤§š¤§#head full many thoughts

Insecurities, Fortitude and the Unfortunate Phenomenon of Gatekeeping
Note:
1. I'm trying to not be afraid of my own opinions (this will probably get a different word wall)
2. This isn't a hot take or a "permanent opinion". It's just...current. I think opinions fit a dynamic mold. Or I think it should since circumstances change and experiences can change thought processes.
3. My initial draft for this was a lot more aggressive and angry. When I started writing, I thought I would only tackle the one thing I was very familiar with (insecurities), then I read an article that miffed me a bit because of the gatekeeping vibes, and for a while, I was angry about it but then I realized how common it was. I've heard it from my brothers, I've experienced it with fandoms, with books, with cooking, and with running. There's even a subreddit for it! š
It's not like I'd wake up one day and it will be gone. Still, it does push me a few steps back when it comes to conquering slight misanthropy. But it matters to me to say this cause I grew up seeing myself as some last draw.
_____________________________________________________________
"I feel most responsible for myself when I'm insecure" I've wanted to expound on this for a while so here goes:
I've grown to have an intimate (and rather painful) relationship with insecurities. I was a sickly child so I would be in and out of hospitals so frequently that establishing young friendships didn't come easy. Some kids didn't take kindly to impermanence too and it's not anyone's fault. It just happened to be that way. Growing up, I came to realize that I wasn't exactly great at anything. Had I not been exposed to extraordinary minds, maybe I would have come to terms with it much kindly except I wasn't. I always thought that people around me were brilliant, smart, and talented (until now). To the point where I felt the need to alienate myself from it all so I could remain in the forefront of my own mind.
Comparisons come naturally but having them weigh on you is a different ball game altogether. Learning ways out of it is always challenging because insecurities aren't just a singular form of monster-- Sometimes it's about the future, sometimes it's body image, sometimes it's the gripping idea of not being enough for anything you love and it's all so cursed and horrible.
There was that time when more things were piled up on the mental shelving. I was talking shit about someone. Sure, people do it all the time but I think that time I was... viciously and purposelessly nitpicking. Everything I could say about that person, I said it. Totally not proud of that moment and a friend thought so too! First, they told me to shut the fuck up. Just like that, really. Next is they pointed it out. As in told me "V, you have a problem and it's really fine being a total hater but you're not usually like this with other things you dislike. What's wrong?" and then we EXPLORED. Doing this can be so cringe a lot of times but hey, we face the music in this club! I was happy to not be thinking about it alone and the experience made me learn a new way of confronting things and issues that make me feel insecure.
We talked about the whats, whys, and hows of being one hell of a hater and how even if certain reasons are justified. Like, okay, someone did something bad to you and you hate them for it? That's totally valid. Do you find certain traits a bit off your tastes? that's valid too! But even if they are valid feelings, most of the time it's not enough to justify certain actions. The thing is, we don't really have the right to be so up in someone's business about every little thing they do. It's frustrating and I feel like a hypocrite saying this sometimes because I have the obsessive compulsion to keep everyone at arm's length but I feel like there's a parameter where peoples' businesses either become something welcome or becomes a blip on a radar that I'd aggressively shoot down. Although I know that my radar can get too wide and that I need some willpower to hold back snark and suspicion. What can I say, I'm weak to any notions of ill-intent (a byproduct of assault).
But fortitude would sometimes come from borrowed words:
"Don't deny yourself what you think but don't do yourself a disservice by not figuring out what it really is about"
I was told then. To be truthful but exercise tact (I'm neither tactful, clever nor silent hence the trouble that follows) and to be mindful of the undercurrents of my thoughts. I think it's important to take a step back and at least ask yourself the most honest and genuine whys.
Insecurity has a bad rep and is too often used derogatorily for something so common and rather natural. But I feel that ultimately, insecurity stems from an understanding of what you don't have and the frustration of having aspirations. Having aspirations being a good thing but the frustration makes us people act up in so many different ways. For me, insecurities have primarily manifested themselves through the urge to just hide everything that makes me happy because I couldn't (and it's still hard to) stand digs at the things I do to keep me sane. Plus I've always thought them (happy things) few and temporary so that's that. Younger me was weird about it omg.
The rule in this house now though is to express what makes me happy and I think I've saved up a bit of grit to not allow myself to be gatekept (by others and by myself**) from those happy things! I love a lot of things (baking, running, reading, pets, anime & manga, drawing...) and the gatekeeping going on with all those? Surprisingly plenty! A totally different word block (that I won't write because I think this has to be put to rest here), really, and also a total nightmare. But how it applies in the realm of insecurities is... Oh, boi. Ignore it-- it's just bad news as it is strong fuel to a fire you don't want to keep going. If you love doing what you do and you're not hurting anyone then just keep going. I know for a fact that the things I love doing are loved by many others too because running? Creating things? Reading? These are things worth loving without it having to be a competitive chore (If you wanna challenge goals though then hey! Good on you! YOU CAN DO IT!)
Draw your lines, plan your layering in a way that fits your style. Use the tools that work for you. Put on your shoes and get going. I'm only particular with speed because I want to get better (and lol I am not fast) but just being out there and moving? That's already running. Fail some recipes or nail em, whatever happens, just try. Fangirl over what you wanna fangirl about! Post it on your IG and all your other socials. A rather horrifying realization is that no matter what you do, someone's gonna take a dunk at ya. Worse, you can be intentionally approached and engaged for that purpose primarily. It's okay (not really but... if it happens, it happens ). Even if you're used to it, it will still get to you but maybe less and less through time. When the voice of apprehension guides you to retaliate in the most painful way you know, just keep the fear at bay and be strong to not let that urge take over your words and actions. Be frustrated! It's fine! And I really don't support self-harm so please don't misunderstand when I say that when it comes to fear and insecurity, there's a lot you have to take on yourself so you don't hurt others. A lot to unpack between you and your brain. There are people who can love you without patronizing you and those you can trust to reign you in when you lose better judgment. Be honest and let them in.
Have that conversation.

Extras:
- AH! But I got to say this cause I also saw a post that said "if you haven't ran 50 to 100 miles, you don't know what a hard run is" wow. Fuck that guy. Actually, don't. He's probably not a fun date.
- this: "you can be intentionally approached and engaged for that purpose primarily" is from experience. An extra worse thing is to be vilified for retaliating. Like...was I just supposed to sit there and take it?
- I used to not like motivational quotes! I mean, I'm alright with them now for sure! We were talking about them and I was asked "What's wrong with properly credited borrowed words? You use them all the time since you like referencing songs." and it was like a tunnel of light appeared before me! Sorry for those whose post I've frowned at! I had an angst phase! I am very genuinely sorry šš»

Kaminari Denki headcannons!!
Bc itās his bday and I love him (this will not cover his fam bc I switch between backstories with him so much that I just have no clue)
Buckle up bc this is a very long post I did not mean to get this deep lol
Letās start with the most obvious- he makes friends easily, but Iām not just talking other students, Iām also talking the staff. This boy makes friends with the janitors and the lunch ladies and even the teachers!! He also makes friends with the security bots and pranks them a lot
This stems from him wanting ppl to like him. I think this bc of the fact that his character sheet says he likes all things ātrendyā - I think he rlly wants to be known as the cool guy bc he is rlly insecure of himself
And as much as I think he is very trendy, I also think he is a big literature nerd! I believe he is more likely to listen to audio books tho, but Iām not entirely 100% sure though. He tries to keep this underwrap, but eventually he does join momoās book club and brings completely different analysis to the table :D
He is just generally into the arts (we see this in cannon- he plays guitar, is seen drawing Aizawa, references Hemingway) so I see him as a more creative guy rather than a logically minded dude
This boy has adhd, anxiety, and dyslexia and dyscalcula (he was able to work through dyslexia bc he read so much, but still has problems with his dyscalcula) and this causes issues for him in school. He also a HUGE procrastinator. He often feels stupid and dumb bc if it (also doesnāt help that even his friends joke abt it too, but as long as itās just a joke he shouldnāt make a big deal abt it right??)
I say he has anxiety because of the way he reacts to when he is training- always panicking and frying his brain. I think what stans between him and being rlly op is his anxiety and view of himself
Speaking of him frying his brain, I headcannon he has litchenburg figures, which if u donāt know r these rlly cool scars that look kinda like branches with what kinda looks like flowers so cool tbh, and BEFORE u say āhe obviously doesnāt have them cannonlyā let me just say that his quirk affects his brain cannonly!! Itās not weird for it to also affect his skin!!! I think he might have had litchenburg figures if they were more commonly known as it is a very cool thing tbh
I also think that bc his brain gets impacted by his quirk, sometimes his nerves get impacted too. This means he sometimes canāt taste food (and he doesnāt eat it when he canāt taste it, which pisses Bakugo off) and he also canāt feel things as well (I believe the class figures this out after Denki went to poor himself some tea but didnāt know the kettle was still rlly hot and so he grabbed it not knowing he was burning himself until he handed it over to someone who then dropped the pot bc it was so hot- needles to say he had to go to recovery girl that day)
He has never been to the aquarium bc as a child he had terrible control over his quirk and that made ppl nervous to put him near water (he goes as a teen with the bakusquad and is absolutely floored- his favorite creatures are of course all the sting rays, jelly fish, and electric eel- cue bakusquad comparing him to the brainless jellyfish)
He also doesnāt know how to swim till he was in middle school (once he was in better control of his quirk he went out and learned to swim on his own bc he had to learn how if he wanted to be a hero u know? He never quit got the hang of it tho)
Storms make him very energized and his already low ability to focus worsens. Prone to accidentally zapping ppl. He mostly stays in his room when storms happen bc he doesnāt want to hurt ppl/ wreck electronics on accident. He doesnāt even get to chat with friends on the phone bc he would wreck it so storms get rlly lonely :(
Also is basically a lightning rod. It hurts bc of how forceful it is, but itās also not that big of a deal to him
Is prtty forgetful unfortunately due to all the times he fried his brain. Itās something he really tries not to think about
He probs canāt sleep very easily due to all his energy
He hates frying his brain bc itās very hard to understand whatās going on when he does. Everything is a lot more sluggish and things are simultaneouslyļæ¼ way too much and he gets hyper sensitive and at the same time his senses are also very groggy and weird. Itās over all a bad time, but he got used to it
Whenever he fried his brain instead of being all wheyyy and thumbs upy he use to act more vegetative which rlly freaked ppl out so he eventually learned to get to where he is now when he fries his brain
Kids use to take advantage of his whey mode and do pranks on him which often got him hurt, but he never rlly felt it at first so he didnāt mind to bad. As long it was just joking and they were having fun right??
Time for happy ones!! His favorite foods (besides burgers, those r his favorite cannonly) all have some coralation with memes (speggeti tacos, mac n cheese, āchonkyā milk, chicken nuggy, etc)
He is a meme lord yes
Stans pikachu (obvi)
U cannot convince me that he doesnāt paint his nails black, maybe with a little lightning bolt on his middle finger. This boy cannonly wears a choker common
He does face masks with Mina!! I believe he cares abt his looks greatly, and does beauty routines with Mina all the time. Iām constantly switching btween wether or not he owns it, or is a bit insecure and tries not to show this side to much to the boys
Why does this show not give him skinny jeans?? I mean common his entire style calls for skinny jeans. Maybe itās Japan fashion or smth bc if it was in America heād have skinny jeans bc itās the trendy thing u know
Cannot cook. Can barely work the microwave. Claims unmarked food and eats it at midnight
Has a lot of weird info stored in his brain- how weather works, psychology stuff, weird facts abt bees, etc- that he learns randomly, never rlly trying to learn them but it sort of just happens u know. This frustrates Bakugo and jirou to no end bc he knows all these useless facts about how 1,200,000 mosquitos is all it takes for them to all at once drain a human of all their blood in a second, but not about how to work the pathagorean theorem
Idk why I think this (and itās a popular headcannon too), but he knows at least 3/4 languages. It just suits him?? Bc he is a ppl person??? I donāt know??
Gets major test anxiety
Teachers either love him or hate him no in between. A lot of his elementary teachers absolutely hated him and would tear him down by calling him stupid and annoying. In middle school when he learns to control his quirk better, teachers rlly liked him- in the way that class clown trouble makers are liked by teachers. He may not excel in his class but he is a pretty funny dude.
He is constantly either underestimated or overestimated. Kaminari himself does this as well. Itās part of the issue with his hero training
Cats do not like him. They may like being petted bc if the static electricity, but when Kami pets cats he just absorbs the static- no pleasure :(((- or he accidentally has too much static electricity. If so then only tge rlly fluffy cats like him. Either case, shinsou finds a cat that likes kaminari as well and it is very cute :33
THE class prankster. Even on the teachers! The death glare Aizawa gave him on the one time prancing him worked is one kaminari will never forget (he still tries to prank him despite this lol)
Constantly teasing Bakugo as a way to press his buttons. Itās debatable on wether or not this helps bakugoās anger issues
He is the wingman between Bakugo and Kirishima change my mind!!
Also mandatory kaminari is bisexual headcannon bc he rlly gives me those vibes. I think he doesnāt know yet that heās bisexual, and when he thinks a fellow bro is hot he thinks heās just admiring his bro u know. Maybe even thinks he is jealous. He does flirt with all genders tho mostly as a joke. He draws dicks as jokes but he always puts a little too much detail in them for him to rlly be straight
Can be used as a defibrillator as long as he can focus
Honestly thereās so much stuff kaminari has the potential to do with his quirk itās a shame the manga/anime doesnāt use itļæ¼
Like I rlly want to see him use his quirk in training to blow out all the lights in a building so he can use it for his advantage
Thatād be badass
Also his quirk makes him very hard to be caught when their training. He can slip out of ppls grasp easily with a shock, and he also just has good reflexes in genral (I think this is cannon). Cue class 1-a running around trying and failing to catch him lol. Their best bet is to get him to fry his brain :(
He was popular in school before UA bc of his quirk and bc of how charming and easy to get a long with he is. This lead a lot of his friends to be very shallow. He didnāt rlly think about wether or not someone was trying to be his friend or not, he just liked being liked. This lead him to his whole liking trendy things, and he often felt that if he wasnāt seen as cool or funny his friends would all leave him. His whole rlly liking to talk thing caused a lot of ppl to think he was annoying at times, but he was never rlly able to lose that trait
The bakusquad was the first friend group he got rlly close too. He felt he can be himself around them and be the crackhead he was always meant to be. He still always concerned about wether they might leave him if heās too annoying bc of anxiety but heās getting better :)
He is a bringer of chaos and thatās part of his charm! Never dull with Denki around. Heās always doing the weirdest stuff, and ever since Mina, Kiri, and Sero, this has only doubled!
He is always calling Momo a genius (bc she is) and they are rlly good friends
Is an unofficial emo squad member (just look at his hero costume)
A sinnamon roll Iām srry but he aināt a cinnamon roll. He has a dirty mind lol
Peepee jokes
Probably does tik tok dances Iām sorry
Nintendo fan for life
Xbox or PlayStation?- āNintendo wut u meanā
Abbreviates so much itās kinda hard to read,. Like if u thought I was bad this boy is soo much worse
Itās kinda ironic bc he has a very large vocabulary lol
He only uses it when heās being sassy or very passionate
Mixes his gen z lingo with his big brain vicab to create atrocities of sentences
ļæ¼ļæ¼ābro the rise of the proletariat is litļæ¼ tbhā
He is the worst to text with. He gives Bakugo aneurysms
Yeet yote to be yoted
3am shower thoughts
Unpopular opinion: i donāt think he likes weed. It probs reminds him too much of his whey mode
Heās a good strategist, but letās the other team members think of the plans bc of insecurity, and otherwise his anxiety causes his smartness to shut downļæ¼ļæ¼
Very good at zoning out. Sometimes he accidentally zones out so hard during class he misses the entire lesson and is only brought out bc of the school bell. Aizawa is best at snapping him out of it
Tbh I donāt think UA would be good with mental health. Youād think theyād hire a professional therapist or smth, but maybe itās bc heroās are so glorified ppl donāt ever think about these issues
I doubt the teachers had very good teacher training u know
Weāve mostly seen young heroes. I bet thatās bc they die so often, and if they donāt die in battle the mental health issues that stem from trauma and the mediaās pressure are such an issue that itās not uncommon for hero work to have high suicide rates
Anyway Iām starting to lose track of things thanks for coming to my ted talk I think Iāll stop here

RATE THE EPISODE 130 Responses
And weāre back! An explosive premiere brings the series back. The vast majority seemed to enjoy the episode, with only 2.3% of folks giving it a score below a 3.Ā Ā
I thought some of the directing in the action scenes was odd and the music didnāt feel as well integrated/utilized as in past seasons.
If this season is consistently as good as this first episode, AOT will indeed end as a perfect masterpiece
ARE YOU HAPPY ABOUT THE CHANGE FROM WIT STUDIO TO MAPPA? 127 Responses
The Studio change from WIT Studio to MAPPA was a subject of much scrutiny and debate before the seasonās release. With almost 61% showing some form of enthusiasm about a new studioās take on the series. The opinion is not uniform, of course, with just over 18% stating their preference for WIT studio. Slightly less (17.3%) canāt give an answer yet and the rest donāt seem to care at all.Ā Ā
I wished MAPPA would make the latter episodes a little more vibrant and lessen the blur
mappa as some of my favorite shows (banana fish, yuri on ice, etc) so it was kinda cool to see they picked up AOT szn 4 ! iām excitedly waiting to watch the next episode, (and with my āwatch partnerā aka tumblr friend who discusses with me as we watch LOL).
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE CGI TITANS? 127 Responses
If thereās one thing thatās rather controversial about the seriesā animation adaptation, then itās certainly the use of CGI (particularly when animating Titans). The opinion of the fanbase seems to be rather positive, nonetheless. 72.4% of responders gave the CGI some praise (be it more open or more reserved), while 18.2% were more negative about the use of CGI. At the bottom was 9.4% who stated that they preferred WITās style of CGI to the one utilized in the episode.Ā Ā
cgi wasn't bad but I was disappointed that it wasn't the 2d animation from the trailer
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE NEW OPENING? 128 Responses
When it came to the seasonās opening, there was a positive response, with more than 72% expressing a favorable opinion. 21.1% didnāt seem to care for it and about 6% stated that they thoroughly disliked it.Ā
OP is WAY too overrated, nowhere near as good as the original, too much glorification of the kind of nationalism that led to Nazi germany's rise to power
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE NEW ENDING? 130 Responses
The new ending received very similar scores, with a similar figure of more than 72% expressing a positive view of the ending and a little over a quarter not caring for it. The proportion disliking it was much lower however, with only 2.3% of folks expressing those thoughts.
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE 4 YEAR TIME SKIP? 126 Responses
One of the grandest developments that came about in this episode is the fact that a 4 year time skip has occurred since the defeat of the Warriors in Shiganshina. Although there is a sizable minority expressing negative feelings (13.5%), the definitive majority is coming in with enthusiasm (70.6%). The rest are still thinking this change over.Ā
wtf is going on? Who are these new people? Why are we supposed to care about them if they're from Marley? Where are the main characters? Yeah, I suppose Reiner and Zeke technically count as MCs, but there is an appalling lack of 104th characters that needs to be fixed asap!
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE SETTING CHANGE? 125 Responses
In a similar vein, a remarkable new development is a change of setting. The majority (almost 61%) see it in a positive light, while 16% seem to dislike it. Just over 19% arenāt certain yet.Ā
After what Reiner and co. did, I am not at all interested in their side of the story and just want Eren and co. to completely decimate these people
Fun to meet new characters but I'm eager to know whats going on with the characters we know
It feels a little disorienting but it's a logical progression of the story
Strange
Wouldnt mind the change of setting if we at least had it from the 104th's perspective
I wasnāt expecting it to be so focused on new characters, and I was disappointed at first but Iām indifferent now.
Not liking the new perspective. At least for this new batch of kids. If Reiner and Zeke are going to be a major focus for a while, wouldn't a short series of flashbacks for their pasta work better than a completely new spin-off from the main story?
WHICH NEW CHARACTER IS YOUR FAVORITE SO FAR? 125 Responses
As this episode introduced a lot of new characters, we got a colorful pie chart for this one. The plurality of responses (40%) chose the kind-hearted Falco, while 28% went with passionate Gabi. 14.4% chose the caring Colt and 13.6% went with the cool Jaw Titan holder. The last couple of responses picked out the stoic General Magath and the quiet Zofia. Poor Udo didnāt get a single vote!
I loved it. I love the new art style, my favorite scene was Gabi destroying the train, she's awesome. I really love Falco as well and Colt. Galliard's titan design is sick
I literally don't give a shit about these new kids, I don't care about their story, just bring back EMA and the 104th already!
WHO DO YOU THINK WILL INHERIT THE ARMORED TITAN? 125 Responses
Another colorful pie chart! An almost even split for the (possible) future inheritor of the Armored Titan. 37.6% believe Falco will take it, while 27.2% went with Gabi. 33.6% do not see any of the cadets inheriting Reinerās titan and the last couple of votes went ahead to Zofia instead.
WHO HAD THE BETTER GLOW UP? 127 Responses
When drawing comparison to Reiner and Zekeās looks in the previous season, there was a clear favorite among the responses - Reiner, with 74%. Zeke had the preference of 15% and those who didnāt feel like either of them āwent through a glow upā took 11%.Ā
can we acknowledge how good zeke, reiner, and [redacted] looked šš„°
REINER PLEASE FUCK ME
WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE JAW TITAN? 126 Responses
New season, new setting, new titan! The vast majority of viewers seem hyped about the Jaw Titan and find its design really cool. 15.9% arenāt as thrilled about it, and 9.5% havenāt decided yet. Most of the write-in comments implied a connection with the Jaw Titan. But for the purpose of avoiding spoiling those who havenāt drawn the same conclusion, we wonāt be publishing them. Just know we see you. ;)
i was lowkey scared lmao
CART TITAN - BETTER WITH ARMOR OR WITHOUT? 127 Responses
We are reunited with the eerie Cart Titan from S3, but this time flexing cool armor and machine guns on its back! The overwhelming majority of respondents prefer it better tricked out in its armor, over a small minority who appreciate its natural creepiness more.
MOST OF THE EPISODE FOCUSES ON GABI. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT HER? 124 Responses
Gabi appears to be a point of controversy among anime viewers already, with 38.7% viewing her favorably, 37.9% viewing her less favorably, and 16.9% not sure how to feel about her yet. Some comments feel she is similar to Eren in some ways, while others found her annoying. And yes, she did break international law. :P
Eren, but smol and female xD
I hate her already
I think sheās awesome
She's like Eren was
she passionately creepy but i like her lol
shes annoying
Gabi is SO annoying istfg really hope Falco gets more focus than Gabi, he seems nicer and more relatable
FALCO MENTIONED SOMETHING ABOUT āFLYING AROUND WITH A SWORDā AND āATTACKING TITANS.ā WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF THAT? 126 Responses
Overall, no one seems to know whatās going on, though many are theorizing that this is related to the paths, titan powers/memory transfer, or Eren somehow. What could this mean for the future of Falcoās character?
Dig at anime viewers returning to S4
He saw the memories of a survey corps member
I have a couple theories, regarding the memories that intelligent Titans share back and forth
maybe he had one of those flashback/forward things that erens dad had
WHO DO YOU THINK WAS BUYING THE NEWSPAPER AT THE END? 126 Responses
Nearly 90% of respondents are certain that this mystery character is someone we know, while just a small handful of people believe itās someone new, and about the same amount not ready to make a call one way or the other yet. Some write-ins on the poll had guessed specifically who the character may be already. But we wonāt spoil you just yet. š
The end credits guy is definitely someone we know, but I highly doubt it's Eren
The sharp-looking dude at the end just HAS to be someone we know on Paradis, there's no way they'd just throw us in to this new cast of nobodies without some connection to the main characters
WHAT DID YOU THINK OF ELDIANS BEING USED AS WAR FODDER? 126 Responses
The treatment of Eldians on the mainland is something that the majority of respondents see as detestable, with 87.3% finding the use of them as war fodder to be downright cruel. A smaller amount of people either felt it was a necessary evil, or didnāt feel strongly about it one way or the other.Ā
Literally waiting for the 104th to show up and fuck shit up for these inhumane monsters
That's what happens in the real world. The persecuted minority gets used as war fodder.
i d k š
DO YOU THINK ITāS POSSIBLE FOR RELATIONS BETWEEN ELDIANS AND MARLEYANS TO IMPROVE? 123 Responses
Colorful opinions mean more colorful pie charts! Most viewers feel that there is no way for the relations between Eldians and Marleyans to improve (30.1%) or that relations will never improve, with the exception of a rare few who are sympathetic to Eldians (22.8%). A smaller amount (totalling 32.5%) feel that itās possible for things to improve whether it be due to a change in Marleyan leadership or due to the two sides having to come together for the greater good. 14.6% of respondents stand in the middle ground, unsure of whether relations can improve or not.
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS ON THE EPISODE?
Honestly at first it was very confusing but overall I enjoyed it
So when do we get to see the 104th again?
I figured there would be more modern technology involved in the story, but I'm not a fan at all of the direction it's going so far. Makes me worried the ultimate basement reveal was the peak of AoT's greatness.
it was action filled!!! although i was sad so see that there are 16 episodes n not like 24(i think), it means every episode is gonna deliver!!! off to a great start, op and ed are amazing. renier had a nice glow up and JEAN WAS THAT U AT THE END?? yessir!!! beast titan looked ugly asf but when was he not ugly?? LOL
Idk wtf that opening was but I kinda like the ending. Falco seems like a good kid. I just REALLY hope he doesn't end up doing anything to hurt the protagonists (I fully expect Gabi to, she's already a violent ax-crazy kid)
just give me some Armin
WHERE. IS. EREN?
WHERE DO YOU PRIMARILY DISCUSS THE SERIES? 124 Responses
Thanks again everyone for participating in the poll! We look forward to seeing your responses for next weekās episode!

Match up!Ā (~Ėā¾Ė)~
Ā Hi againā¦can I get an Ikevamp match-up? I got curious on who I would end up with tbhš
š
š
About myselfā¦I never lose a temper, I am extremely shy and quiet, itās extremely difficult for me to trust new people. I am around 5'9 feet tall, above shoulder length messy brown hair tied into a ponytail; I would be mistaken for a boy if I let my hair down. I wouldnāt even notice if they mistook me for a boy until someone addresses me as oneš
š
š
. I look intimidating at first sight because 1.)I am silent most of the time, I look cold and aloof, I never smile, and 2.) I can be blunt without noticing + my difficulty of showing emotions would make them think Iām judging their soul *yikesā¦whoops?š
š
š
*. That intimidates most people and when in reality when I am the one who feels more intimidated by them. š
š
Once I warm up, I have this side that only my family and close friends know. I get along well with anybody; I wonāt judge people for their race, beliefs, personality, religion, and all. It doesnāt exist here when I befriend them š. I have this weird sense of humor that can turn dark and morbid without noticingā¦ š
š
I am like a child at Christmas when it comes to new art supplies, baking, and cooking new recipes; I love sharing it with my family and friends. I can compare my strength to a guy and I can carry heavy things without a problemš
ā¦ I love to play the guitar and I used to play the piano when I was younger and I missed playing it. Iām extremely rusty after not practicing for 7 years nowš„. I can still read music notes, and it will take longer for me to navigate the piano if I play it. I mostly draw and paint right now thoā¦
Iām not a fan of wearing girly clothes, and I would rather stick to wearing good olā shirts, polo (long/short sleeves), pants, and hoodies style. I avoid drinking alcohol because I easily get tipsy; Iād turn into a loud drunk after a few sips.Ā My friends would often keep me away from who knows what theyāre reading and watching stuffā¦ Told me that they donāt want me to taint my innocent eyes and soul or something like thatā¦I never cuss even if Iām used to hearing my classmates swear like a sailor. The first time my friends hear me accidentally swear, they look at me in horror and demanded me to know where I got that wordš¤£š¤£
I donāt like loud and crowded places, I would feel dizzy and suffocated if I stayed there for too long. There will be times on where Iām nowhere to be found since I would look for an isolated place somewhere around the corner for me to hide whenever I want to draw or paint. I am not really confident of my skills in drawing; I have a bad habit of hiding those from my family *which annoys them*. I have another bad habit of being stubborn whenever I got sick, and I wouldnāt even let anyone know I am unwell because I do not want anyone to worry about me. But when someone noticed, I would admit that I am sick. *I would go to school even when sick so I can finish my school works because, whenever I miss a class, there will always be some of them who would deliberately not tell me that I missed something in class soā¦i learned the hard way.š
* ā¦
I easily get startled by sudden noises if I let my guard down: objects making a loud sound when they drop. I donāt know how to deal with physical affections and would probably get stiff and flustered. Iām not used to guys hugging me cuz would go stiff whenever a guy hugs me *I love hugs and all butā¦ Iām not used to being hugged by guysā¦ š* Iām a bit of a disaster-prone whenever Iām outside, and would accidentally hit my head on lower tree branches and lower places, sometimes I would accidentally sprain my ankle on the uneven ground *if someone made me wear heels especially if itās stilettos*. š
š
š
Yay: I love my coffee with a ridiculous amount of milk and with less sugar; baking, cooking, sweets, drawing, painting, digital art, music, cats, dogs, pokemon, Manga, anime.
Nay: I despise certain types of vegetables that are bitter and slimy. My face would shrivel up seeing those kinds of vegetables. Animal cruelty is a big no-no for me; I normally donāt get angry, and I forgive people within a blink of an eye *that annoys my family a lotš
* but, I will make an exception for that.
I can control my own anger, that no one can tell I am fuming.
If itās ok with youā¦š
š
š
Took me a long time to figure out how to send a more detailed one. šš I think thatās enough spilling tmi about myselfā¦ Whoopsieā¦š
š
š¦š±š¦š±
Hi hi love! ā¤š»Thank you so much for the request! I had so much fun writing this up for ya and i hope you enjoy it dear! ā¤š¦Also i hope you are keeping safe and well and have a super good day!šā¤ Also sooooorrrry for taking 2 billion years with this! hehe so without further ado........... @xarexraven
So I match you withļæ½ļæ½ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ Theo
The first time you met everyone, you were so quiet and reserved hiding behind Comte. They took one look at you and instantly thought, āoooh great another male guest.ā You were wearing a hoodie and jeans and your hair tie keeping your hair in a ponytail, had just snapped as you walked through the door. Comte gave you a gentle push to introduce yourself, and one look at your intimidating face, had the entire household believing that they had another tsundere in their midst.Ā
During dinner, you had hardly noticed that they all thought you were a boy. The residents all started retiring to their rooms after dessert, when Sebastian handed you a final cup of coffee, āHere you are sir.ā Your eyes widened, and you started up at Sebastian in confusion, too shy to correct him/ That is when Comte who was still sitting beside you gave your head a gentle pat, āSebastian it is quite rude to mistake our precious guest for a boy, especially one who is beautiful.ā Both you and Sebastian were left blushing at the comment, thatās when Vincent, who was the only other resident still at the table, spoke up. āI have to agree with Comte, it is not nice to call someone so pretty, a boy.ā The resident angel beamed up at you, while Sebastian apologised profusely, and through it all, the only thing you could think was, āman, this is awkward.ā
The next morning after Comte explained the whole, everyone in this mansion is a vampire thing, you wandered around the mansion aimlessly. Well, that is until Napoleon came across you and grabbed your hand, dragging you to the dining room, where a feast of sugary goodness laid wait. He told you that he had made way too many pancakes and that they needed help finishing them. No one in the mansion had seen you smile yet, but at the sight of the giant stack of sugary pancakes, you couldnāt help but beam. Vincent had spotted you and flagged you over to sit next to him. āOi knaap, donāt go hog all the pancakes, save some of the rest of us will you,ā Theo loudly exclaimed as you loaded up your plate to a stack of pancakes almost as high and his. At the sound of Theo calling you a boy, Vincent narrowed his eyes at Theo and started scolding his younger brother for being so rude. Theo stared at you in disbelief but with your hair now in a pony tail he simply shrugged and gave you a new nickname āHondjieā. With the misunderstanding finally cleared up once and for all, you made quick work of polishing off the stack of pancakes with the three men.
After lunch Vincent gave Theo a detailed list of art supplies that he needed, and at the mention of art supplies your ears perked up. Your eyes gleamed in excitement, and your cold, aloof exterior changed to one of an excited child on Christmas morning. Your cheeks were starting to hurt, that had been a record of two smiles in one day. Although even though your smiling felt weird to you, to the three me it was the most beautiful sight. Theo took notice of your enthusiasm and in his typical indifferent voice, asked if you wanted to come along for the ride. You without a second thought nodded, you basically radiated excitement as you went upstairs to put on some shoes and get a jacket. You met Theo out in the foyer, and soon the two of you made your way to the art supply store.Ā
Comte had told you that you were free to break the bank and buy anything and everything your heart desired, on the condition that he would be able to see your first piece of art created with the new supplies.Ā
You were so excited at the thought of new art supplies and being able to continue your passion for art, even though you were stuck in the past, that you let your guard down a little with Theo. He asked you in his usual blunt way, why you were dressed like a boy and not wearing skirts and dresses like other women. You told him that you were most comfortable wearing pants and hoodies. The way your eyes were beaming, low key reminded him of his precious brother, and he found himself low key drawn to your pure, innocent energy.Ā
The two of you spent hours and hours picking out the perfect supplies, you were low key shook at Theoās knowledge about art and supplies. He actually helped you pick out the best supplies for your personal drawing and painting style. After spending hours in the art shop. The two of you made your way to the waiting carriage, when Theo spotted an ice cream store, his eyes lit up at the thought of sweets. When you saw how excited he was, you suggested that the two of you investigate the shop before heading back.Ā
For the first time in Theo van Gogh whole existence, a woman had paid for him. He was sitting across from you in the ice cream parlour while you were happily eating away at your sugary treat, still trying to process it all. You had paid as a token of thanks for him helping you pick out the best art supplies. What shocked him even more was during argument about the bill you legit gave him a deadpan look and bluntly said that you were ganna treat him no matter what. After that comment you legit left him blushing and speechless, you truly were a strange woman.
The two of you sat in silence for a few moments when you finally decided to break the ice. You curiously asked why it was that he knew so much about art, and thatās when he revealed that he was an art dealer. And so the rest of the afternoon was spent chatting about art, paintings, drawings and your mutual passion and appreciation for the trade. To say Theo was pleasantly surprised by you would be an understatement, his first impression of you was now so laughable compared to the person sitting before him. The first time he saw you, he thought you an aloof, little boy who seemed to judge him down to the very depths of his soul. Yet as he got to know you, he had come to realise that there was much more to you.
In the weeks to follow you seemed to surprise Theo more and more. The first thing that had this boy sister shook was your inhuman strength. One day as you were helping Isaac sorts out the library. The two of you had managed to fill up 2 huge boxes of junk and clutter that could be stored in the mansions attic. Isaac lifted one of the boxes and determined that it was too heavy for the both of you, so he went to call Theo or Leo who would have an easier job with doing the heavy lifting. As Theo rounded to the corner to help move the boxes, he almost rammed straight into you. āOi hondjie, you are going to hurt yourself let me takeā¦ā As he took the box from your hands, his face started going red, and a vein in his neck started popping out. The box you had been carrying was obviously almost too heavy for him to carry, he turned around swiftly and started walking up the attic stairs. It took you no time to catch up to him carrying another heavy box of your own. At this point you could see a bead of sweat roll down his face. Theo was determined to carry this box up, there was no way he was going to be shown up by a girl, especially one that he liked. He finally made it to the top of the attic and place the box down with a huff, you had to laugh at the small blush that was still on his cheeks.Ā
Just then out of the corner of your eye, an old piano caught your attention. Theo eyed you curiously still recovering from the blow to his ego, as you sat down on the dusty piano chair and blew the dust of the piano keys. Your fingers moved to their own accord, gliding across the keys to play a familiar song from muscle memory. Theo sat down next to you and closed his eyes to absorb the beautiful melody. As the last note echoed through the attic, Theo opened his eyes, and sapphire eyes glared down into the depths of your soul. He had honestly never in his life felt more drawn to anyone, before he could say anything your stomach gave a loud growl. It was now your turn to blush and look away in embarrassment. Theo then leads you downstairs, where he whipped you up some stroopwafels.
You tied the apron around your waist and helped Theo prepare the sugary dessert. You were so excited and happy, you loved baking and learning/exchanging new recipes. Once the two of you were done making the sweet snack, you sat down and munched on the Stroop waffles and coffee. The rest of the afternoon was spent chatting about your mutual hate for bitter slimy vegetables and love for dogs as you ate the sugary snack and sipped on coffee. This actually started a tradition between the two of you, where once in a while the two of you would exchange recipes and cook your favourite dishes together.
One day as Theo joined Comte in his room for some tea, he saw a beautiful painting hanging behind Comte, it was just filled with so much emotion. āHey, Comte, did Vincent paint that one, I havenāt seen it before.ā Comte gleamed in delight and told him that you were the artist responsible for the masterpiece and that you had given it to him as a thank you gift for the art supplies. Theo was shook, he knew you loved art but to have created such a masterpiece. He stomped his way to your room and knock on your door. He could hear shuffling from the other side, he swung the door open and spotted you throwing a heap full of tissues in the dustbin and hiding the trashcan behind you. All it took was one look at your red nose, pale face and tired eyes to know that you were clearly sick. You tried to play it off and make your way past Theo to help Sebastian with lunch service, when Theo picked you up and plonked you down on your bed. The second your head hit the pillow, your tired eyes closed and you lost consciousness. You woke a few hours later to Theo sitting by your side gently stroking your hair while placing a cold washcloth on your forehead every now and then. You stubbornly tried to convince him that you werenāt sick. Theo narrowed his eyes at you and in a soft, gentle tone said, āHondjie can you just stop being stubborn for one minute and let me take care of you.ā Theo had nursed you back to full health and you got to see a new side of Theo that you had never seen before, his sweet kind gentle side. It was actually during this time when Theo had confessed his undying love for you.
Theo love love loved your art and would insist you show him your masterpieces once you are done with them.Ā He knew your weren't confident in your skills and would usually hide your drawings so he did what any reasonable person would do. He tickled you until you gave up the hiding spot so he could see your creation.
He also knows you donāt like crowded places or loud noises, so he actually cleared up a room for you to use as your own art room to work in peace, where no one was allowed to disturb you.Ā
He knew you would get dizzy and feel suffocated whenever the two of you would walk through a busy crowd in the markets. So now every time the two of you cuties go out, he was sure to plan your route using back roads to avoid unnecessary crowds or he would bring King along for a walk with you. Even though King is a sweet, friendly golden retriever, he has come to love you and will do whatever it takes to protect the new member of his pack. Even if that means angry staring down people so they can part like the red sea before you and Theo.
Theo absolutely loves you to the moon and back. He loves your sweet innocent mind and will always cover your ears and glare daggers at Arthur whenever he is telling stories of previous nights conquests as he ādoesnāt want Arthur to taint your innocent mind and soul.āĀ
He absolutely loves to finally have someone around who gets his dark, morbid sense of humour and who can equally match his weird jokes. Often when the two of you are together, you would be quick-firing the weirdest jokes at each other, while being in stitches laughing at each other.
Theo also loves how you have similar beliefs as him in not judging people. It was due to this that he was completely able to open up about his past with you. You helped him to heal and grow from his past traumas. You helped catch him many a time before falling in the abyss, dragging him out back into the light.Ā
Both of you were pretty awkward when it came to physical affection at the beginning of your relationship. However, after many, a stiff, awkward hug followed by a fit of laughter from how awkward the two of you were, eventually the two of you started to get more comfortable around each other.Ā
Now when Theo cuddles you, as you draw him as a manga character, the two of you chuckle at the memory of how stiff and awkward it was the first time the two of you had even held hands. Theo will 100% always insist on holding your hand whenever the two of you go outside as he knows just how accident-prone you are when it comes to nature.
Ultimately Theo loves to spend quiet evenings with you snuggled up in his arms as the two of you exchange stories of each other days. He loves to read all your little mangaās you manage to create for him. Although he will never admit it, he always gets super excited when you tell him about an anime you watched or show him your newest manga drawing. He will shower you with endless amounts of hugs and cuddles from the moment you go to bed till the moment you wake up. And every morning without fail Theo will greet you with a freshly bred cup of milky coffee and a kiss.

Your analysis on shigaraki's worldview is ššš. Who's your fav bnha character btw, and what kind of manga are you into? (i mean as in genre, but my phrasing is terrible at times so idk how to put it all in the last sentence)
My favorite manga in the whole world are the manga that run in Weekly Shonen Jump. I read almost everything that runs in the magazine from week to week. I know thatās not technically a genre, but letās not arguen semantics.Ā
And now because no one asked for it, my opinion on all of the manga currently running through Jump that I read.Ā
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba usually manga in shonen jump slowly get worse over time as they try to stretch their stories out, but Kimetsu no Yaiba is a story that continues to develop on itself and improve the longer it runs.Ā
The art is phenomenal and has a good balance of when to be silly and when to be drop dead gorgeous. Itās more of an ensemble piece tied together by a big brother trying to save his little sister, and because of that almost every character Tanjirou interacts with is fun and really immediately attention grabbing.Ā
Itās also a pretty heavy story that deals with death, grief and loss and trying to find life beyond a world that has suffering like that. Iām actually planning to make some meta of it soon, especially with the interactions between Domi and Shinobu. My only real complaint is that itās deep but not too deep. Usually the demons are always bad and the demon slayers are always good in the end, even if sympathy is expressed for some of the demons. Once again though it does so well in the technical aspects of telling the story it wants to tell.Ā
My Hero Academia itās pretty obvious that I like it. The biggest draws for me are the art style and the characters, specifically the villains. Also the idea of a reverse X men world where what are basically the mutants now outnumber normal people and dominate society is a fantastic idea for world building with a lot of options.Ā
Iāve actually followed Horikoshiās work for a long time. His two previous works, Oumagodoki Zoo and Barrage both ran in Shonen Jump for a short time before they were cancelled which I find really unfortanate because they both had a lot of potential as well.Ā
I love both the hero kids and the villains, though sometimes I feel like the villains are more connected to the central conflict of the story than the heroes. It would be nice to see Deku evolve a more radical philosophy then just wanting to save people right in front of him, or protecting the status quo. The heroes should ideally act in response to the villains to create a better world and resolve a problem the villains brought up, but if say the League of Villains were wiped out now another League would be created later because the central problem of the story has not been dealt with.Ā
Dr. Stone this is a series that almost got cancelled, but was saved by a main character switch. Senku is really likable and unique as a character, kind of a mad scientist archetype who turns out to be the good guy and the hero of the story.
He reminds me a lot of Yoichi from the writers previous work, Eyeshield 21. In that theyāre both laughing mad eccentrics who seem like they have little scruples for how they use and treat other people, and yet are surrounded by friends and act as the leaders of their team. They also both have a tendency for strategy over brute strength and like to outwit their opponents.Ā
The only thing I can say about Dr. Stone is that while the characters are a fun little group of oddballs, they rarely get any deeper than that. The most interesting thing is still figuring out the central mystery of the world and what happened to turn everybody to stone, which is why having Senku as a main character was a really smart move on the series part.Ā
Yozakura FamilyĀ This is a new series that I actually really like and hope beats canellation at the two week mark. Itās kind of your basic romantic comedy characters get married in the first chapter promise, but also thereās some really strong character writing with the older brother. Heās one of the few examples of the obsessive and overprotective brother type that was portrayed as actually abusive and damaging for seeing his younger sister that way.Ā
The premise also reminds me a lot of Katekyo Hitman Reborn, just suddenly getting sucked into the underworld of spies and crimminals when youāre an unlucky loser with no social skills. If the character writing is as strong as it is for the brother I can definitely see a lot of improvement and staying power.Ā
The Promised Neverland the smartest written series in Shonen Jump write now with the best ideas. The Promised Neverland is all about theme, theme, theme, theme, which is why someone like me who devours stories for their nutritious value and content loves it.Ā
While there are only about three major characters with arcs that matter to the plot, Norman, Ray, and Emma they are some of the deepest characters in shonen jump currently and the complexity of their relationship and the way they all foil each other is superb.
Itās a story about children trying to escape a neverland where they can never grow up, and live in a world that never wanted them alive. Not only is it just about them though, itās also about adults who are still inside the system and gave up at one point or another and decided to just live in the evil world rather than change it. Itās a deep story but itās also undeniably shonen jump, the central theme is about not giving up even in a world that is determined to deny your existence.Ā
Act AgeĀ If youāve read Chihayafuru this manga has a lot in common with that, because both of them are about very singleminded girls with complex emotions that they themselves donāt understand, finding themselves completely enveloped in a niche hobby to the point of obsession.Ā
Act-Age is a story thatās primarily about storytelling and the nature of stories themselves, with each arc focusing on an adaptation of either a movie made up for the sake of the story or a pre-written play ie, Journey to the West, Night on the Galactic Railroad. However, itās also bout the nature of stories, as understood by the perspectie of an actor.Ā
There are only a few major characters but they all get intensely developed in their arcs. My absolute favorite relationship is that of the main character, quiet on the surface but with deep emotions that she uses for her acting talent with her rival an actress thatās much more like a pop star or idol. Rather than having deep talent she instead uses her ability to read people to appeal to them. She is cheerful and lively on the surface, but empty inside. The way they envy each other and learn to grow from each other because each of them has what the other one desires.Ā
Jujutsu Kaisen reminds me of really early bleach that was just Ichigo and his teenage friends fighting Hollows. This is one of the manga I definitely reccomend, because itās one of the lesser known manga in jump currently. The art style has this scratchy look about it which really adds well to the horror aspect of the series. Itās a demon fighting anime with some of the best demon designs, more attention is put on making them look grotesque and scary then in series like KNY where the demons for the most part are pretty good looking still.Ā
The main trio is very solid, a reckless idiot who swallowed a cursed finger in the first chapter and is continually dealing with the consequences of that, the shadowy, quiet type cool headed one who almost never talks about his past or his true feelings on the matter, and between them the cheerful girl whose a tad on the merciless side.Ā
Not only are the characters good, but itās one of the few series where the fights and lore are super interesting. Rather than dealing with demons directly Kimetsu no Yaiba style we deal with curses, which are generated from the human subconscious.Ā
For exmaple one of the villains Mahito is the embodiment of the fear humans have for other humans, that is the anxieties of life, and the fear and suppressed feelings that go hand in hand with humanity. Because that heās much like a child curse quickly learning and progressing with a human intelligence.Ā
The fights, the powers of characters, theyāre all used to further develop a really interesting world of curses and the people who live dealing with them that it feels like weāre only scratching the surface of right now and desperately makes you want to figure out the system they have in place for this entire world.Ā
Yui Kamio Lets Loose - I find it to be a really sweet romantic comedy about a stuck up boy obsessed with appearances and what other people think of him falling in love with two sides of a girl, the uncontrollable Yui that beat him up and constantly gets into fights and trouble, and the perfect demure girl who can only ever be helpless and kind and needs to be protected. It has a feel of a lot of classic 80s high school romantic comedies. The only real problem is that it needs to acquire a plot fast, because itās at risk for cancellation which makes it hard for me to get invested in a series that might end soon.Ā
Double Taisei - One of those shonen manga that had a really interesting beginning chapter, but then failed to do anything with it. I think it would work well as a character piece between two personalities who act like brothers in the same body, but the characters arenāt strong enough quite yet to work that way. I do like the character designā¦Ā
Tokyo Shinobi Squad - It looked like a ripoff at first but the main character is actually fairly different from Naruto, and the manga itself is uniquely its own thing. I just hope it learns to utilize itās cyberpunk setting better, because ninjas fighting in a cyberpunk dystopia is a very tropey premise and the story needs to utilize those tropes in order to work. I do like the fact that the main character starts out pretty powerful so itās not a typical shonen formula about a main character slowly learning to gain power, instead itās him taking in and being responsible for a kid.Ā
Manga I donāt read - One piece, Yuuna of the Haunted Hotsprings, Chainsawman, Samurai 8 the tale of Hachimaru, Beast Children, Miitama Security Busters.Ā
