also I'd just like to add, I don't read smut all that often but was absolutely blown away by your fic. doyoung's hot already but SHIT you made him so much hotter LOLFHAFKJ. not to mention the characterization and exposition and build up?? and the development from the first part to the second part? I really appreciate when smut scenes serves a greater purpose of creating round characters and giving them nuance, so this was an amazing read. ty for writing, will def be checking out your other stuff soon !!

★ what was the scene you most wanted to write in [deja reve/vu]? what was the hardest scene to write?

i think the scene i most wanted to write in reve was probably the first scene of her walking in on him working. even now that scene lives pretty rent-free in my head and i may never escape it's grasp!

nothing was hard to write about it if i'm honest i wrote the whole thing in 14 hours total without an outline...😵‍💫

for vu the scene i wanted to do the most was probably the photography scene, followed shortly thereafter by the full-fledged bdsm scene...which is funny because i don't actually find that much joy in writing bdsm but what i did want to come from it was him experiencing dom drop since i feel like that isn't often covered in fic like, at all. like i don't think i have ever seen it personally.

and again nothing about this one was especially difficult for the same reasons as reve, i sorta just sat down, banged it out, and that was that. humiliating the things we do when the carnal wanting of man takes the wheel 🤨

oh god I never know what really counts as a “trope”—I just spent several minutes on google and found a gigantic vague-ass list so i’m choosing from that

i love mutual pining. i love it so much. i love when two people are in love and they’re either oblivious idiots about it or there’s something in the plot that’s keeping them apart. I love when they KNOW the other one loves them but they still can’t be/aren’t together for some reason 🤩 it’s the agony of yearning your honorrrr

(I think forbidden love highkey ties in with mutual pining so I’m gonna lump those two together, but they’re both good fucking food)

I love me a high-stakes adventure baby. it’s life or death over here when I’m in charge and no you may Not beg for your life. i’m not listening 🫶🏻

and i love me a reluctant hero. you don’t want to risk your life for the greater good? too fucking bad. get in the fucking robot, shinji

36 - How do you come up with fic titles? What's the one you're most proud of?

oh I love naming fic. not because I think I’m good at it but just because it feels like once a story has a name—whether it’s a working title or the final one—it becomes a Real Story, yknow?

4/5 times music helps me pick a title. that other 1/5 can be narrowed down to: basic one shot titles that are usually are titled with what they’re about—ain’t no hard thinking on that one—and very rarely it’s just vague concepts or me trying to be genuinely creative without any explicit outside influence.

like, call of the night is named call of the night because I thought it was vampiric and melodramatic and good for what I needed. north star is named north star because of a line in the second half of the fic. deja reve, when the moment ends, edge of it all, here comes the sound, and SO many more are names I got from lyrics/songs. roots’ name is literally taken from an old song of mine 💀 it was gonna be named “through the roots” but just ‘roots’ ended up sticking

i literally just realized how many wips/story concepts i have. it’s 9. NINE. some have only plans and some have only concepts, but some have literally thousands of words behind them. i am making a post to try to hold myself accountable and also get my head on straight, since i haven’t managed to publish anything since the very start of august. (which is to say, unless you are dying to know what’s sitting in my unfinished scrivener drafts, you can keep scrolling!)

oldest to newest:

nowhere to go: sequel to all cooped up, and basically was going to be yenskier pwp until i realized i have no idea how to write an explicit sex scene, much less one that’s pwp. benched indefinitely.

these restless feet: aka “oxenfurt tryst” aka “monster of the week” aka “julian is about to hit the road to become jaskier when tragedy strikes and he stays in academia instead, while having anxiety and regrets, but he and geralt find each other anyway--just a little later than they would have otherwise” aka “this was supposed to be a character study and it grew plot”. the original draft of this has 20k words, but i thought it had too many ocs so i reworked it and got 6k words in, then i still didn’t feel right about it so i tried AGAIN and got like 4k words in. this has seen so many lives idek what’s going on with it anymore but i care deeply about a lot of the scenes and would love to get my shit together and finish it.

omnia mutantur: jaskier has the djinn wishes and accidentally wishes geralt human. didn’t make it far into this one but what i have is kinda cute.

deja reve: has one line in the file: “jaskier gets visions from destiny.” that’s it. that’s all i had but i made a file for it and titled it. ????

passerine: PLOT CITY. this one is about jaskier having to go undercover with the nilfgaardian army post-s1 because i WANTED IT and for no other logical reason. i OUTLINED this shit. god, there’s so much plot. no one wants to read this. i wrote 6700 words before i lost steam.

zombie au: no working title, weirdly enough. this fucking beast is sitting around 26k words and is not yet 3/4 done. in which there’s been a zombie apocalypse, geralt’s life got torn apart, his relationship with yen is complicated at best and fraught at worst, ciri has been missing for five years, and he’s just suffered another major loss. when he gets a lead on where ciri might be, he sets out to find her, and comes across a very obnoxious man in the woods who won’t leave him alone. what comes next will not surprise you in the slightest. (i am most likely to finish this. at least i hope i am. i am DETERMINED.) (WHY DO I KEEP WRITING THINGS WITH PLOT THAT’S WHY I NEVER FINISH ANYTHING)

wishing well: jaskier character study. he makes a wish at lettenhove in a funny looking pool and then he spends his life both chasing and running from his deepest desires. sitting at around 3k, will probably be 5kish when done (i’m actually sort of working on this rn!! low pressure!)

vassar au: aka i subject my liberal arts education experiences on the cast of the witcher. would be serialized, probably. i did nothing but come up with a list of stupid shit that happened while i was in undergrad that i could turn into dumb fic scenes. DO want to write this.

then there is one untitled file at the end that just says “jaskier falls for his friend ciri’s dad.” i made this because i came across a fic with this concept and read it and it was good but ended up not being what my brain Wanted when i read the concept. so i made a file to hold the concept in case i ever write it.

just jumping in to say if you post another part of deja i will lose my mind and my life (no pressure). i sent you a 🍑 anon about that fic series on ao3 before you orphaned and i am so grateful you brought it back to tumblr, it literally changed the direction of my life and also my stanning

for a long time i was like why does everyone write doie as a dom? what am i missing about this soft, sweet man who mothers everyone around him? then when i was first getting into fic i read both parts and had a profound experience i don't think i will ever have again. specifically that moment in reve where he drops, but also where he agrees to share a bed. you created this amazing setup where he seems inaccessible and untouchable and then he's just so real. i love your take so much. i reread recently and it holds up beautifully.

i haven't had time yet to give paradise another read through but i can't wait to get back into it as well--your messy art hoe hongjoong and his gravity well of support was another "canon" definer for me getting into atz fic.

so, i think this is one of the fascinating things about writing rpf, is the way peoples perceptions of someone else can vary so drastically despite being presented with all of the same information! for me, while yes he does have a caring, almost "motherly" aspect to his personality, i also find him to be a bit tough, a stickler for things going precisely the ways that he wants them to, a little bit inflexible, and not afraid to use (very light lol) scare tactics to ensure things go his way! i think these things have me leaning more towards a dominant persona.

honestly, it's similar to the way i view hongjoong vs the way a lot of other writers tend to. there's a common perception of him being domineering, dominant, scary...i just don't see it lmao. i mean, of course i can write him that way, i can write anyone like anything it's all just fiction, but you know what i mean!

ANYWHO! super happy to hear how much you love the deja series! they were a wild set of fics especially because i don't really even like writing bdsm LMAO...so it's good to know that my rare foray into doing so has left such a lasting impression on many 🤣🥰

i was looking for fluff doie fics and somehow stumbled upon the deja series, hah. i don't think i've ever read a dom doyoung fic portraying him the way you do in the series. him dropping took me off guard, but also not derailing from the way i see him personally. by the end of the series i honestly felt like something shifted in me as a person, and i was really out of it for quite some time. truly a rare but extremely pleasurable experience. ❤️

i remember when i first came across the deja reve fic i literally evaporated, no joke. the plot was something ive never seen nor thought i needed this badly 😭 my god. i am so glad you chose doyoung for this fic because it just perfectly fits him so well? how open they are with themselves as partners with no judgements involved! so open-minded!

love the enemies to lovers, the constant bickering between the two and how he'd throw those digs at her, their banter. i felt like i was learning things as i read on. the use of safe words was lovely to see, each scene made me feel goosebumps at how hot it was (smut was the best i have seen) mina wasn't lying when she said he's a good dom because he expressed it in many ways in this fic. also even for the moments he himself was faltering a bit (don't want to spoil) but i really loved seeing that a lot. love how beautifully this was written, a work of art that cannot be defined with words. i love your writing style and how top notch ur description gets. really makes me feel all emotions at once. you're such a talented writer and i have said this before you had left, your writing leaves me in awe and i can definitely believe and see you writing novels with this much creativity and talent 🥺❣❣
