it feels like at least here I barely see any analysis on madoka herself. It’s usually almost always an analysis on another character that brings up madoka (most of the time homura) or it is the 500th analysis about how madoka actually didn’t want to be a god, missed her family, and had severe self doubt issues. Which is all well in good but I just wish there was bit more for her.
I just wish more analysis would tap into madoka herself. In how despite the amount of suffering madoka has seen and had to endure herself she still sees the world as something worth protecting. How much empathy she has for others; in how she never snapped back at Sayaka and continued to stay by her side no matter how much she lashed out at her and how she decided to make a contract just so Mami wouldn’t be lonely anymore. How she made a wish with Kyubey that would separate her from her family and friends forever just to validate and protect the hopes and wishes of magical girls while allowing them to burden madoka with their pain. How fucking powerful she had to be as a god to nearly break Homura’s world by simply just starting to remember who she truly was.
I just…I fucking love madoka and it frustrates me deeply how little appreciation some parts of the pmmm fandom seem to give her asides from the fact that she became a god.

I am routinely baffled by any criticism of jgy fans' interpretation and defence of his character that can be boiled down to "but genre conventions!!!!" as if defying genre conventions isn't how newer, cooler, more interesting stories end up being told.
#like whether this is what mxtx was intentionally doing with jgy's character is quite frankly immaterial to me#(or maybe not immaterial; I would love to sit down with her over a cup of coffee/tea and listen to her talk about jgy sometime)#(but it likely won't change my interpretation of how he is presented in the text)#the text says what the text says and author commentary about that text is just that: commentary#extratextual commentary can be interesting but the story itself stands alone#and the story as it stands presents us with an extremely compelling antagonist character whose journey rewards the reader with new#and interesting discoveries in the text#new interpretations and parallels and revelations#with each subsequent re-read#he's a banger of a character and insisting that his fans throw out our textually grounded analyses of him because 'genre conventions'#is so boring. and tedious. and depressing.#mdzs meta#jin guangyao#he did crimes??? good for him 😌

Tbh I think it's better that they didn't confirm if Lili bought Asuka her T8 clothes because the way Asuka dressed in 8 then implies she CHOSE to resemble/match elements of Lili and a Western European style either on purpose or subconsciously, aside from the bird and biker motif design and silhouette, that would reinforce the way she sees Lili now

Look either the Tsaritsa genuinely cares for Childe and treats him like her Child(e) or she treats him like a piece of trash that can be discarded at any moments notice. There is no middle ground for me, and I genuinely believe those are the only two options that really make sense for her. The only amount of nuance I will accept is if she does care, but has to keep it hidden for whatever reason

My gf was listening to "White Blank Page" by Mumford and Sons and I once again told her that song is SO much better if it's gay.
She doesn't listen to the lyrics of songs but she's extremely good at literary analysis and this time she actually looked up the lyrics and has now come to the following conclusion: "It makes no sense if it's not gay."
My (objectively best) reading is this:
The narrator was in love with a guy who strung him along, never willing to be in a committed (or public) relationship with him and maybe insisting that it's extremely heterosexual "helping a bro out" sex, except in more intimate moments. Finally out of nowhere guy is suddenly committed to a woman and when Narrator confronted him, guy spat out homophobic vitriol and claimed he's not gay like the Narrator.
(For extra flavor imagine them as closeted, straight passing Midwestern flannel wearing, love-bonfires-and-camping guys who sat next to each other at church and elbowed and annoyed each other like best friends do and were each other's go-to source of emotional support! And then to suddenly shut Narrator out for the first time ever, by abruptly marrying a woman and insisting that he's always been straight and their relationship meant nothing...)
Here are the lyrics:

Why call multiple people "you" in a totally unclear way? Why would you claim that your female ex's new man can't love her AT ALL (not just as much as you did, AT ALL)? And invoking the judgment of God is so fucking tedious if you're just shaming your female ex for moving on or even cheating/getting with your friend. Also you look like a creepy asshole if you think a girl broke up with you for "loving her too much".
This song is tepid, badly written, and makes the narrator look like an asshole if it's NOT gay.
The gay reading is the ONLY compelling one.

I think the Queen would rule the Card Kingdom better than Cyber World and the King Cyber world better than card kingdom.
The Queen runs on logic and of course it’s understandable why as she is a computer, that’s her whole function and purpose: to be logical. But the issue is everyone in the cyber world already and automatically does things by the logic of their purpose: Addisons know to advertise, Swatchlings know to butler, Tasque knows to manage, etc… I think she’s so looney cause other than be a figure head she does not need to do much logistics and computations, everyone and thing is practically automated and a predetermined variable. I don’t think she cares much but she has to keep creating illogical things to create logic for to keep entertained.
The card kingdom is not illogical to say but it is much more puzzle and logic based than Cyber World when it comes to doing things. Card games, chess and all the like are extremely logic and strategy centered, I mean think about how hard it is to beat the computer on hard online versions of these games. The Queen would thrive with not only completing this puzzles but creating more activities and harder ones as she loves to be busy, entertain and to be entertained. The card kingdom citizens would also probably like a nicer ruler who genuinely gives them a purpose again as well.
As for the King, his whole deal was vengeance for being abandoned by lighteners and feeling a lack of inherent purpose/importance. He strived find a way to be useful despite no longer having one as a disregarded toy. As a program you are never truly disregarded, someone somewhere needs you and you are important, literally impossible to abandon even if not used for a long time on the computer. He would find interest in a kingdom that is optimal by design, subjects that don’t really need to be ordered as they inherently know what they are supposed to do. The guy likes competence but seems to hate actually having to do much. The cyber citizens are uniquely capable and subservient as they just need a ruler to keep things stable not to actual rule. As puzzle games the card kingdom citizens need an interaction the king cannot provide as we’ve seen.
It’s just been running through my head that the cyber citizens don’t necessarily need a kind or involved ruler, which the Queen is but the card kingdom does. Cyber world needs someone to keep things in line more so and we’ll the king has to capacity to do that if we give him lessons in not being a tyrant beforehand.

I haven't looked forwards to a character as much as I've looked forwards to Sunday. I hope he won't disappoint
#He seems potentially so my type and I love the angelic aesthetic#He seems so shady and I love that. Robin does too and I adore that too but I'm afraid of expecting too much haha#Hanabi and Black Swan are interesting in a lore kind of way but I don't like their design at all tbh#Kinda getting tired of the female characters having all the very same look. They are not even from the Xianzhou so there's no excuse#Hanabi is like a mix of Guinaifen and Tingyun come on. And I find the design of Black Swan so boring with the potential her lore had#Skirk kind of situation#Ruan Mei and Dr. Ratio have managed to interest me a lot for what I've seen in leaks#but I hadn't been waiting for them to appear as I've been looking forwards to Sunday#Other than Sunday the character I'm most looking forward to is Firefly. I don't know#I've been digging the dynamic with Blade ever since I first saw leaks about Sam‚even when I thought them seeking death and life respectively#was due to each their different ways of not being fully human with Blade being immortal due to a mistake and Sam being a robot#But now he's an immortal old man seeking death and she's a little dying girl with time against her looking for life‚#both in a way the consequence of an experiment‚ and I find that potential interesting too#Besides I find so endearing and so funny that terrifying imposing Stellaron Hunter Blade is in a group with two young girls#that bully him a bit‚ make fun of him and take his phone. Extremely into how Silver Wolf is protective of him too#In general his dynamic with the Stellaron Hunters is very nice and sweet and intriguing for what I've seen#Abfkabfn I always end up talking about Blade. What I meant is that! I'm really looking forwards to Sunday#He seems extremely Jack-coded in some ways. A bit like Jing Yuan but in some senses More and I love that sort of character#I talk too much
