My thoughts on Grand Festival and what that means for Splatoon 4
Had to make this, because as much as I love the concept of the finalfests determining the concept of the next game, I have some issues regarding this one.
1: I believe at some point the devs and Nintendo themselves have claimed that Splat 3 was the finale in the trilogy. Meaning the story of Squidbeak and the Octarians is over (they'll probably be referenced in future games, but the story is over). But that theory of if Past wins, 4 will be all about the Great Turf War. Which wouldn't make any sense, lore wise considering the concept of modern Turf Wars. And again, the story of the Squidbeak and Octarians is over, so why revisit it?
2: I think even though the past 2 games had some sway in the concept of the next game, it's only been some small things, like concept of location and people (3 having Splatsville and Deep Cut representing Chaos' win) or storyline (2 having Callie be a key aspect of the main campaign). But other than that...not much else unless you count DLC? And again, it wouldn't make sense since the trilogy storyline is over.
3: The question presented for this Splatfest is what's important to YOU. It is vague in its question, but it actually holds something if you consider the question about your own feelings of the past, present, or future. And some people did think about it that way, myself included (although I also just love OTH, but when the Splatfest was announced, I didn't know they would be representing it). But the other's I feel as though chose Past (and to some extent Future) because of the nostalgia of the 1st game. That isn't a bad thing, but what I guess I'm trying to get at is again, trilogy storyline is over.
I feel like this isn't really cohesive? But idk, I was thinking about it yesterday, and just think that Nintendo could've been a little bit more clear with this Splatfest. And I don't want this to seem as though those who chose the teams they did for the reasons they did are bad, that's not it. I guess, what I'm really trying to get at is that: WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS, THE PRESENT IS UNCLEAR, AND THE PAST IS FAR BEHIND US NOW.
Other than this ramble, I've been having a great time with the Grand Festival! Dare I say, this Splatfest has been my favorite since I got the game. I kinda hope this concept carries over into the next game (not for a finalfest, but this being the main thing for all Splatfests)
Anyway, good luck to everyone!

Congratulations, Team Past!
As I said in another post a short while ago, as a member of Team Present, these results don't surprise me. Team Past went hard in the paint. Every single match against Team Past was vicious. Those three clout wins were well earned, and I'm just proud of us on Team Present for scoring second place in the clout categories. (Condolences to Team Future, though. That was rough to watch.)
Of course, this begs the question of what this will mean for Splat 4's story and setting. A lot of people think this means it'll take place during the Great Turf War, but I honestly doubt it. The thing is, the GTW has a foregone conclusion that ends badly for the Octolings—they end up sealed under the domes, and over time they begin to run out of electricity and power and their infrastructure begins failing in a major way. For players who are fans of the Octolings, the single player campaigns of the first two games were already a bit sketchy—but a GTW one would be a huge downer, unless Nintendo decided to retcon it with time travel and, in the process, put Splats 1-3 in a completely separate timeline, a la how they did with the "prequel" to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, called Age of Calamity.
And that's the only way I could see them doing that. Nintendo doesn't like to make games with foregone conclusions if those foregone conclusions are downer endings. That's what Age of Calamity was supposed to be, and look what happened. So I really doubt we'll get a GTW game unless it's to retcon what the results of the GTW were, especially since that would also deprive us of game modes like Salmon Run, which is so popular they made it available all the time in Splat 3, when in Splat 2 we had to wait for it to be available and hope the weapon loadout was good when it opened again. (Remember that?)
So, what do I think we'll get instead? Honestly, I don't know! It's really way too early to say. I think everyone was jumping the gun by assuming they knew what the next game would for sure look like based on such vague themes. Unlike with Chaos and Order, we didn't even have gear to give us a sneak peek at the aesthetics that the devs had in mind for each.
Maybe all three idol groups will feature in the story again, instead of the new idol group, since it's focused on the past. Maybe we'll have an amnesiac character again, or maybe EVERYONE will have amnesia and the story mode will be about helping the whole world remember. Who knows! I think it really is too early to say, but I also just feel it won't be GTW because we know how that ends, and it's too negative on the Octo side of things, and Nintendo wouldn't go for that. If they couldn't adhere to the story they wrote in one of their most successful games of all time by killing the characters necessary to do so (LoZ: BotW), they're not sticking the Octos under domes at the end of the Splat 4 story campaign because it's necessary to do so. Ain't no way.
Anyway, those are my two cents. Once again, congratulations, Team Past! You earned it.

Hockey AU: Pizza Date Pt. 2
Hey! Fun fact, I wrote this months ago. Does this mean it predates Dana confirming there is no homophobia on the Isles? Yes it does. Very excited about it. :3
Anyways I won't waste your time any longer. I know both of these are pfairly short but it's been a 2-parter ever since I posted it in my discord I'm a part of. (Shout-outs once more to my friends there. Y'all lovely people and know what you did. >.>)
No TW this time. Just some fluff and explanations.
***
“Luz can you slow down a bit? I’m sure the house isn’t going anywhere.” Amity complained as the human led her forcibly down the street.
Her voice seemed to cut through the chaos in Luz’s mind like a knife. She focused on her hand and gave Amity an apologetic squeeze as she slowed down.
“I’m sorry. Look at me, dragging you around at breakneck speed when you’re still tired and run-down from practice.” Luz smiled sheepishly, falling in line with her girlfriend to walk next to her.
“Well, actually the food helped quite a bit.” Amity admitted truthfully, before turning to face Luz sharply. “But don’t let it get to your head.”
“Too late.” Luz grinned back at her.
They walked in silence for a bit, Luz struggling to process exactly what had happened back at the pizza joint. She knew she shouldn’t feel this way, that nothing her and Amity did was wrong, but it didn’t keep the feeling of fear from creeping in.
Amity seemed to pick up on her discomfort though, as she always did, and pulled her girlfriend to a stop in the middle of the sidewalk. For a moment, Luz feared she would want to talk about what just happened, and felt the knot rising to her throat but instead Amity simply asked her to come back to the ice rink with her.
“There’s a couple of shots that I could probably use some advice on. Plus, I was really enjoying just getting to spend some time with you. Home can wait a little longer.”
***
Amity was panting as she skated over to Luz who had half a pizza crust hanging out of her mouth. She grinned as Amity took her helmet off and leaned up against the small railing separating the player box from the rink.
“You are looking amazing out there! The other teams aren’t going to know what hit em!" Luz exclaimed excitedly, barely managing to swallow the crust before jumping up to grasp Amity's hands.
Amity laughed as a blush spread across her face. "Thanks Luz, but for the most part I won't be making any shots in-game. My job is going to mostly be defense. That means body checking anyone who comes near my teammate with the puck." She said with a confident grin.
Luz watched her confidence with a wide smile. She got to watch her girlfriend not only have fun, but also slam into other players multiple times in one night? On purpose?!
How lucky could she possibly get?
"But wait, if you aren't really going to have the puck, why'd we come back here to practice your shots?"
It was Amity's turn to smirk as she pointed at the empty pizza box sitting next to Luz.
"Well. You didn't touch your food at the restaurant first of all. And secondly, I knew something was bothering you. And when something bothers Luz Noceda, she needs distractions to make herself feel useful before she can start to feel better." The witch answered plainly, giving Luz's hands a squeeze.
Luz's smile slipped. Amity noticed it fade and pulled her hands forward, yanking Luz up from her sitting position.
"Come on Chaos, let's skate for a bit."
"Oh, Amity, I'm not sure that's the best ide-" Luz tried arguing, but Amity had pulled back just enough that the human had to scramble over the railing or risk being squished into it.
As soon as her feet touched the ice, Luz's legs slipped out from under her. Amity's arms were there to support her in an instant, providing just enough balance that they began to glide backwards, almost peacefully, around the ice. Every once and awhile Luz's limbs would freak out and she would nearly wipe out, but every time Amity was right there, holding her up and the girls would devolve into giggles once again.
When they were both exhausted from fighting Luz's inability to function on ice, Amity guided them both off the rink and they took a seat in the players box once again.
"Ok. I swear. One of these day's I'm finally going to just get it and I'll be able to walk all over the ice. Just you wait." Luz promised Amity as she wrapped an arm around her girlfriend's shoulders.
"I believe you'll keep trying anyways." Amity laughed with her, leaning into the embrace.
Suddenly she stiffened. Turning around, Luz saw it in her amber eyes how serious she was.
"Now, Noceda. You're either going to talk to me about what happened back at the restaurant or I'm going to toss you back onto the ice and you can try again right now." She growled menacingly.
Luz gulped.
"Ok ok! I'll tell you. I'm not really in the mood to go splat right now anyways." She squeaked out in a nervous rush.
Amity's eyes softened as she waited for Luz to continue.
"It's just that, I don't know if you heard or noticed, since you were kinda tired earlier, but those ladies who were sitting by us... they kept raising a fuss. Which is stupid! I shouldn't care what they think, and I don't! But... they kept bothering everyone on the staff and the other customers. I was getting worried that things were going to escalate and I didn't want you to get caught up in all of that."
Amity's face was blank as she puzzled together what Luz had said. Maybe her reaction didn't make sense after all. Luz was probably overreacting anyways...
"Raising a fuss? Why would they raise a fuss over us?" Amity asked curiously.
Luz's eyes widened. It wasn't like Amity to be oblivious, that description mostly fell to the human, but the genuine innocence in her girlfriend's voice worried her.
"About us, because we were there. Together. Being happy." Luz answered bitterly, holding Amity even tighter.
Luz watched as Amity's face twisted into a confused frown. It suddenly occured to her that the witch may not actually know what homophobia really was. In all the time Luz had spent in the Boiling Isles, she never encountered anything like it.
"Amity... they were disgusted by us. There are some people here who think love should only exist between a male and a female." Luz explained grimly, avoiding looking at the witch beside her.
"But.. why? What about, any person not of those genders? I don’t see how they can just limit love like that. Or why."
"You don't have homophobia on the Isles then."
"Homo... what?! Is that some kind of human insult?"
Luz chuckled. "Well, yes and no. It just means people who are afraid of same sex couples, but it can extend to the intolerance of anything 'not straight.'"
"Oh... ok. So the fear leads to hatred. And then you get 3 ladies causing a fuss." Amity nodded, finally understanding. "On the Boiling Isles there's so many different sentient species that it never mattered who you loved. "
"Yeah... well here it seems to matter too much."
Both girl's were quiet. Luz had never felt ashamed of who she was, but for those few minutes in the restaurant she was afraid. Afraid of what would happen if they didn't leave.
"Luz?" Amity asked suddenly.
"Yes?"
"Can you tell me next time something's bothering you like that?"
Luz froze. Amity sounded so hurt. She leaned her head into the crook of her girlfriend's neck and closed her eyes.
"Yeah. I will. I promise."
Amity leaned her head right back into Luz and sighed, content with the answer.
"Thank you."
***
Later that night, before they both went to bed, Luz would curiously check inside the extra box that the man at the counter had slipped her, wondering why it seemed a little bit heavier then the other, empty, boxes.
Inside she'd find a giant cookie and a note written in pen taped to the inside of the lid that read: "Next game the Otter's win, pizza's on us. No old birds or homophobes allowed. :)"

My List of Usernames
I can change my user to any of these names... I made this blog because there is purpose why I change my name! I even change my profile pic for a good hint :)
BingBatzz - The first user made for my Inkling Girl cause I was still new to the game! Orberrie03 - The all-time user, typed back in when going offline (unless the battery depleted before I would take action) hi der! - I do a full-time 2 hours of hide n’ seek in Turf War only! I never hid in ranked mode and I never plan to do so
OC Names (In all of these, Orberrie can take over and use his own weapons, hiding their true identity, because being Voyne and Koby can be irritating XD )
Glinfrit - My take on Inkopolis, how I want the canon and fanon characters to act! I can be a mix of any of these OCs or agent fanmade names! | “Fry Kind, Guide Minds!” is the motto from Lerra and Voyne, founders cause they’re my first two inkling OCs Lerra - Roller Main | Inkling Girl | Long hair | Skirt | Pastel Green (Team Tortoise made it happen!) Voyne - Dualie Main | Inkling Boy | Five-Spike hair | Forest Green (Team Guacamole made it happen!) Koby - Brella Main | Inkling Boy | Hair tied | Dark Teal Okra - Splatling Main | Octoling Boy | Mohawk | Okra Green (i literally roasted the mohawk okay) Pamika Tentlellar - Charger Main | Octoling Girl | Hair tied | Lavender Audrique Tentlellar - N’Zap Main | Octoling Girl | Hair Tied | Scarlet Quanni Tentlellar (I NEARLY FORGOT HER IM CRYING) - Inkbrush Main | Octoling Girl | Hair Down | Pink Rita - Nozzlenose Main | Inkling Girl | Noodle Tail | Light Magenta

Roleplay Names (to show love for my stinky interests, whether you call it a game, movie, real role, or entertainment)
A roleplay is to take role and play as your favorite character. For example, If people wanna make batman play splatoon, they play as batkid and wear black bat-themed gear with any weapon they prefer to use for their avatar.
hi der - uhh, i’ll give you three hints: Working Head Towel, mountain chilly coat, New Day Arrows - game Ninvo&Co - My 4 OCs, all Oomi’s, that have four pizza eaters playing behind the screen with their developer drinking coffee watching them enjoy battling online than jumping in front of them in non-real life - game YeeHaw - Cowboy attire, pardner! Err-uh, team. - real role, somewhat also a movie Awesome! ^ - The person above me is awesome and know whether they win or lose, it is just a game and they don’t deserve to feel dry and give up. oh, but this also means i’m being a character, he has a pet plant as well - movie Spaceship! - A neon blue background with a yellow moon should help define this character I’m playing as! - movie RexTastic! - This user shows how dangerous I can get, I wear this cool Jungle Hat, a suitable vest, grab this radical roller replica, and start running over kids ‘till the job’s done. I may be tactical, but I don’t just splat all day. I got pets to take care of cause it’s one of the better things to do than playing the switch. one love. - movie Negativity - Inkling Girl with a party hat on her head wants everything to stay positive and have no negativity of any kind! Crazy Arrows for pride! - movie BroodalPop - Broodals from Super Mario Odyssey? Nope, just some character who recently got her past uncovered that she used to be happy until she decided to color her hair to be more of a tough and gritty goth. I wear pilot goggles, hot hoodie, and annaki arachno boots. - movie FunGang - A mix of human, monster, or darkners - game JevKat - Chaos and Lanterns - game anonlizard - nerd anime mew uwu - game

Splatoon 2 Review: The Squid’s Are Alright
One of the few regrets I have about the Wii U era (other than owning a Wii U) is that I never got into Splatoon. I had chances to play it, but I also had excuses not to. I really need to raid in Destiny (which I didn’t). I should really finish The Witcher 3 (which I still should). There was always a reason for me to put Nintendo’s newest shooter IP on the back burner, especially knowing how Nintendo handles online games and that voice chatting with friends wouldn’t be an option. So when I got my Switch, a system that I truly enjoy playing on, I decided I would forgo that stubbornness that held me back before and dive into Splatoon 2. What I found was one of the most unique shooter experiences in years that’s chock full of that classic Nintendo charm and a community that succeeds in spite of Nintendo’s online shortcomings.
Multiplayer
Splatoon games are by far the friendliest online shooters you will ever play. Instead of spraying bullets at enemies, Splatoon is all being a half-kid-half-squid-animorph-thing and running around spraying ink in your environment. In Splatoon’s standard mode, Turf War, the team that has the most ground covered after three minutes wins the match. Attacking the other team’s players is not the primary objective. In fact, you can be first on the leaderboards without landing a single kill.
Three minutes isn’t that long for a multiplayer match, but is long enough to make sure most matches devolve into colorful chaos. Central areas in each map are taken and retaken in seesaw battles for territory. That said, I’ll say this for new players: be the real MVP and don’t forget to ink your spawn!
Along with Turf War, there are three other objective-based game modes that comprise Splatoon 2’s Ranked and League Modes. Splat Zones tasks players with controlling certain map points for as long as possible. Tower Control makes players control a moving tower and advance it into the enemy base to win. Rainmaker acts as an inverted capture the flag by making players grab control of an item and storm it into the enemy base.
Online multiplayer in Splatoon 2 does expose the piss-poor handling of party functions by Nintendo. They announced that with the Nintendo Switch, there would be an app for iPhones and Android devices that would allow players to party up with friends and chat through a needlessly elaborate headset contraption. As if this weird work-around wasn’t bad enough in and of itself, the mic function makes people sound like they’re talking with a mouth full of marshmallows.
Whaaaaat?
Party functions aren’t the only issue with Splatoon 2’s online, but Nintendo has also taken a bizarre approach to matchmaking. Wanna play with a group of people? Well, that’s not guaranteed. Sometimes even with a full party, teammates will randomly be placed on opposing teams. Wanna back out of a lobby before the game starts? Nah, can’t do that either.
Look, I get the idea behind nintendo's online approach with online for this game. I really do. They want to promote a family-friendly alternative online space, and as friendly as I tried to be in my head, it didn’t take long for the competitive rage to boil over. And no matter much fans of Nintendo would wish they would handle their online party system differently, they don’t have to. It’s a damn shame though, because with all the hoops players have to jump to just to play with friends, it directly affects the game’s longevity.
Salmon Run
New to Splatoon 2 is Nintendo’s take on a horde mode called Salmon Run. Two to four Squidlings team up face waves of enemies in order to collect a certain number of eggs that come from defeating mini-bosses that periodically appear. The more eggs that you collect each round, the more gear and perks you can unlock back in the Salmon Run corner of Inkopolis Plaza. After each round, players will randomly have their weapons swapped. It takes great teamwork in order to prevail in this hectic mode, but man, what a rush it can be. I’ve had games that came down to two players frantically struggling to accomplish what four should and succeeding at the last second and I’ve had games where me and my team wiped out within 30 seconds. It’s pure bedlam, and even with Nintendo’s lack of standard matchmaking and chat functions, it’s been my favorite part of Splatoon 2.
Single Player
Admittedly, I still haven’t fully sunken my teeth into Splatoon 2’s single player story mode, but that doesn’t mean that it should be ignored. Tying into the story from the first Splatoon, I’m sure I’m not as invested as fans of the series since the beginning would be, but that doesn’t detract from its excellent platforming both in the levels themselves and each overworld. There are 5 overworlds that each house a number of levels that need to be completed in order to move onto the next.
There’s plenty of exploring and shit to be done without stepping foot into a level, though. Between poppable balloons that will scatter across the map and just figuring out how to get the entrances to each level, Splatoon 2’s overworld gives a taste of what the levels themselves will hold.
The goal of each level and overworld is pretty formulaic: go find a power source in each level, bring them back, unlock a boss, beat said boss, move onto the next world. But with different types of enemy sea life and giant floating platforms to navigate, how you go about getting that power source is up to you and the variety of ink-based weaponry at your disposal. Wanna blast your way through, charge in for some close combat with a paint roller, or stealthily sneak your way to the end using a sniper and hiding in the ink trail it leaves behind? Your call, squid.
Once all the power sources are collected in a given world, the boss of that world unlocks and you must defeat it. These fights were some of the highlights of the single player not because they’re the only times where violence is encouraged, but because they were hilariously designed. Nothing like fighting a giant, evil toaster.
The Lobby
Each time that you open Splatoon 2, you are greeted by the charming faces of Pearl and Marina, the hosts of Inkopolis’ favorite talk show that showcases what levels and modes are available when you log in. After getting the latest update, your Squidling is transported to the center of Inkopolis Square, which houses various shops for clothing and weaponry as well as portals to transport players to single player, multiplayer, or Salmon Run lobbies. You’ll also encounter other players’ avatars and the pun-filled messages they display. Right from the beginning, Splatoon 2 creates a community and an economy that further helps envelop players in this ink-tastic world.
Splatfest
Periodically, the landscape of Inkopolis changes as some of the world’s most important questions are addressed: is cake better than ice cream? Is ketchup better than mayo? These questions are tackled during Splatfest, a limited time event that transforms Inkopolis Square turns into a raging party as players battle it out in Turf War for their respective sides.
It’s a fun event, but not without its flaws. For starters, Pearl and Marina are the spokes-squids for each side. So far, in terms of sheer numbers, players flock to Marina as the Beyonce of Inkopolis, while running in fear from the gremlin Pearl. However, this also affects how the matchmaking works and how the scores are inevitably tallied. During this last Splatfest, most of the games that I played were against my fellow Ketchup connoisseurs. I’m not sure if these games simply didn’t count towards our wins and losses or if they did but cancelled each other out, but the ultimate victors turned out to be Mayo. Why was I playing so many games against Ketchup? No idea.
Shopping for the Sweet, Sweet Loot
On top of all the weaponry you can bring into the game, there are numerous shops around Inkopolis Square where you can buy headgear, shirts and shoes for your Squidling. On top of looking hella fresh, each piece of gear has slots for different perks that can do things like give you more resistance to ink or recover ink faster. Perks are assigned to slots as they’re worn in multiplayer games, so of course I’ve spent a large chunk of time in this game trying to roll items with an ideal perk set. Way too much time. Not as much time as I’ve spent doing the same in Destiny, but still, too much man.
In the end, the shortcomings with Nintendo’s matchmaking and party chat systems don’t take away from all the ink-splattin’ fun of Splatoon 2. For first time Squidlings like me, it’s the best version of an innovative shooter experience with plenty of Nintendo charm. For those more experienced, adding the co-op Salmon Run to the Splatoon suite you know makes it the definitive Splatoon experience. Plus, it’s on a system that people actually own, so that’s neat.

WWE Great Balls of Fire 2017 results: Brock Lesnar retains Universal title; Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman go to war
Despite the comically bad name, Great Balls of Fire delivered a solid show with some instantly memorable moments.
When WWE announced Great Balls of Fire as its July Raw pay-per-view, pretty much everybody made fun of the name. We had even more fun with it when the logo was revealed to be ... well, you figure it out.
Still, the actual card itself was largely good, with few outright duds and plenty of excellent matches. As expected, Brock Lesnar is still Universal Champion, but Samoa Joe sure made it close. And the Roman Reigns-Braun Strowman feud escalated into literal attempted murder, which kind of came out of nowhere but opens up some interesting storyline directions.
Elsewhere, Alexa Bliss took the coward’s way out and will surely get hers one day, while Sheamus & Cesaro retained the tag titles in arguably the best wrestling match of the night. Hopefully the Raw brand is finally ready to wrap up some stagnant storylines and wipe the slate clean as SummerSlam approaches. Great Balls of Fire was far from perfect, but it was a mostly enjoyable three hours of wrestling.
Let’s recap the show, starting with the main event and going all the way down to the pre-show.
Brock Lesnar (c) def. Samoa Joe by pinfall to retain WWE Universal Championship
An incredible feud and buildup paid off with a match that wasn’t long, but made up for it with intensity and suspense. Despite losing, Joe just about had Brock’s number the whole way.
Before the match even started, Joe jumped Lesnar and slammed him through the announce table. Lesnar took forever to get in the ring, and by the time the bell rang Joe dominated him once again. Brock finally started getting in some offense, throwing knees into Joe on the corner.
Joe tried the Coquina Clutch, but couldn’t hook the legs and Brock broke the hold by driving him into the turnbuckle. Then Brock hit a German suplex, changing the course of the match. From there it was Suplex City time, until Joe hit a low blow that the ref didn’t see. He got the clutch locked back in, making Brock’s face turn purple just like he promised. However, Lesnar lifted up Joe and slammed him to break the choke.
Back to the German suplexes. Brock tried an F-5 but Joe got the Coquina Clutch for a third time. Brock dropped to his knees again, and came close to passing out, but he found one last burst of energy to hit the F-5 and retain the title.
Braun Strowman def. Roman Reigns in Ambulance Match
A wild and fun feud came to a head here, with a chaotic post-match scene that was easily the most most violent, talked-about moment of the entire show.
There’s a lot to digest here, but first, let’s go over the actual match.
As the name implies, the only way to win this match is by putting your opponent in an ambulance. Thankfully there was no feeling-out process, with both men just beating the hell out of each other right at the start.
Strowman got some steel stairs and went to town on Reigns, who recovered enough to get back in the ring. The fight continued to be one-sided in Strowman’s favor, aside from some brief hope spots by Reigns.
Reigns got the comeback with a Samoan Drop and apron dropkick. He then went to work on Strowman’s surgically elbow, targeting the bad arm and nailing it with a chair. But Braun powered up and was completely unaffected by the chair shots, before taking control of the match once again.
The match finally spilled out onto the entrance ramp and close to the ambulance. Strowman threw Reigns into the side of the ambulance and opened the back door, nearly putting Roman inside before he escaped. A series of Superman Punches threatened to knock Strowman inside the ambulance, but Braun grabbed a backboard and beat Roman with it. They fought back on the stage and Roman drove Strowman through the LED screens in one of the coolest spots of the night.
Roman tried crawling Braun’s limp body back to the ambulance, but Strowman got back on his feet and dodged a spear, sending Roman flying into the ambulance and giving Strowman the win.
Although Reigns lost the match, he stuffed Strowman into the ambulance anyway, driving into the parking lot. Then things went from zero to 11, when Roman crashed the ambulance into a trailer and walked away, presumably leaving Braun to his death.
While general manager Kurt Angle and other officials tried to get the ambulance open, Curt Hawkins and Heath Slater had a match nobody could even pretend to care about. Heath Slater won, just for the record. Meanwhile, the fire department showed up and finally opened up the ambulance. Strowman emerged alive, but was bloodied up and could barely stand. Bruan eventually walked away under his own power.
So ... that was a thing that happened. The story is far from over, so we can certainly expect more followup on this week’s episode of Raw.
The Miz (c) def. Dean Ambrose by pinfall to retain WWE Intercontinental Championship
Hopefully this feud is finally done and over with. Let Miz do literally anything else with the title.
Miz is accompanied by his new lackeys, Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas, who are still called “The Miztorouge” for some reason.
Predictably, Axel and Dallas spent the entire match running interference for Miz. Otherwise, it’s a standard Miz/Ambrose match, which we’ve seen way too much of lately. Ambrose ended up bleeding from the mouth at some point.
Miz worked over the knee for a long time, including a Figure Four to further aggravate it. Ambrose started a comeback and dove onto the entourage from the top rope. He hit Dirty Deeds in the ring, but Maryse put Miz’s foot on the rope to break up the pin. Axel and Dallas got involved once again, and in the chaos Miz hit Skull Crushing Finale to win the match and keep his title.
Sasha Banks def. Alexa Bliss (c) by countout, Bliss retains Raw Women’s Championship
Good wrestling with an anticlimactic finish, which describes most WWE matches these days.
They start off with some basic grappling and Alexa powders to the outside after Sasha hits her flush with a dropkick. Alexa appeared to have dislocated her elbow, but she’s double-jointed so it was a ruse to lure in Sasha with a stiff shot.
Sasha went for the Bank Statement early but Alexa rolled out of the ring. She tried walking out on the match before Sasha dragged her back to the ring. Sasha took a nasty spill on the ring apron, which led to Alexa controlling the match and working over her opponent’s back.
The match shifted back into Sasha’s favor as she started her comeback, nailing Alexa with a kick and running knee for a two-count. Alexa came back with a flashy sunset flip out of the corner, getting a nearfall out of it. She went up top and tried Twisted Bliss, but Sasha got the knees up and countered into the Bank Statement, which Alexa barely escaped by grabbing the rope.
After some more fighting, Alexa stayed on the outside and took the countout loss, keeping her title in the process. Getting screwed out of the title, Sasha brawled with Alexa on the entrance ramp, at one point jumping off the announce table and nailing the champ with double knees.
Sheamus & Cesaro (c) def. The Hardy Boyz 4-3 in Iron Man match to retain Raw Tag Team Championship
The stipulation of this match is that there’s a hard 30-minute time limit, and the team with the most pinfalls in that limit wins the match. The current champs nearly blew a 3-1 lead, but a frenetic final seconds ensured that they’re still on top of the Raw tag division.
Sheamus immediately pinned Matt with a Brogue Kick, putting Sheamus & Cesaro up 1-0 in 20 seconds. However, that was the most action we saw for a while, as the next 10 minutes were basic WWE tag team stuff. If you’ve seen the Hardys and Sheamus/Cesaro wrestle each other over the past three months, you’ve seen this match about 5,000 times.
A double-team move on Jeff put Sheamus & Cesaro up 2-0 with around 20 minutes left. The Hardys finally got on the board when Jeff hit Twist of Fate on Cesaro, making the score Sheamus & Cesaro up 2-1 with 17 minutes to go. Matt and Sheamus brawled on the outside, but before Matt could get back in the ring, Cesaro knocked him out on the post, forcing the Hardys into losing a countout fall. Sheamus & Cesaro up 3-1.
Sheamus & Cesaro, with a comfortable lead, continued beating Matt within an inch of his life. Matt attempted a comeback and Jeff finally got back into the match, pinning Cesaro with a split-legged move ... thing. Sheamus & Cesaro up 3-2 with less than seven minutes left.
With the clock running under five minutes, the nearfalls came fast and furious. Matt hit Sheamus with Twist of Fate off the top rope, getting a three-count and tying up the match at 3-3 with less than three minutes to go. Jeff tagged back in and wiped out both of his opponents with a dive off the top. Back in the ring, Jeff and Matt both hit a crossbody on Sheamus, but Cesaro broke up the pin. One minute left, Matt kicked out of a rollup attempt and tagged in Jeff, who hit the Swanton Bomb on Sheamus. However, Sheamus wasn’t the legal man, so Cesaro rolled in and pinned Jeff instead, putting up Sheamus & Cesaro 4-3. Jeff chased Cesaro back in the ring and dropped him with Twist of Fate, but he couldn’t get the pin before time ran out.
Big Cass def. Enzo Amore by pinfall
Turns out you can’t teach size, after all.
Before the match started, Enzo cut a long, passionate promo about his life and dreams crashing down due to Cass’ betrayal, but he’s determined to keep fighting. It was an incredible promo, even by Enzo’s lofty standards.
The actual match mostly went as expected, with the much taller Cass rag-dolling Enzo around the ring. He dumped Enzo over the ropes like yesterday’s garbage, making Enzo go splat on the floor. In the end, the outcome was rarely in doubt — Cass pinned Enzo with a big boot without much effort.
Bray Wyatt def. Seth Rollins by pinfall
Hey, Bray Wyatt actually won a match on pay-per-view!
Rollins teased a dive early on, but Wyatt blocked it with a punch. Rollins took a nasty-looking bump to the outside, slamming his face hard on the ring apron. A superplex off the top rope got a two-count for Wyatt.
Wyatt continued controlling the match until Rollins dodged a running senton. He hit a dropkick, suicide dive, and springboard forearm to get a nearfall. Rollins then hit a Slingblade and Blockbuster for another two-count. Wyatt hit a huge clothesline, but Rollins popped back up and nailed the Falcon Arrow. Wyatt then came back with a uranage that Rollins barely managed to kick out of. Behind the referee’s back, Wyatt poked Rollins in the eye and hit Sister Abigail for the victory.
Kickoff match: Neville (c) def. Akira Tozawa by pinfall to retain WWE Cruiserweight Championship
In fitting symbolism, the first match of WWE Great Balls of Fire ended with a dick kick.
With Titus O’Neal assisting him at ringside, Tozawa got a brief burst of offense before Neville went on to dominate the majority of the match. Tozawa made his comeback and hit a pair of beautiful dives to get a nearfall. He got Neville locked into an octopus stretch, forcing the English champion to hit the ropes for a break.
Neville got back into control with some stiff kicks, putting down Tozawa for a two-count. Neville missed a Phoenix Splash and Tozawa fired back with a Shining Wizard. He hit his senton drop finisher, but Neville rolled to the outside to avoid getting pinned. Tozawa got crotched on the ropes and Neville nailed him with a low blow to get the win.
