Townie Makeover #5 | Caliente Family

Presenting... Nina, Dina, and Don!

Dina was once a gold digger who juggled numerous boyfriends, with her main source of income being her fiancé, Michael Bachelor. When he unexpectedly passed away, Dina was shocked to find out that he didn't put her in his will anywhere. The only thing he left her with was a massive amount of debts and their mansion, which she ended up having to sell (Dina doesn't have a job, how's she gonna pay for all of that?).

She moved out of Pleasantview and went across to country to live with her sister Nina, who lived in Oasis Springs. She was shocked to find out that Nina was engaged, nonetheless to a such handsome guy like Don, who was a broke nursing student at the time.

Unbeknownst to Nina, Dina went behind her back and started an affair with Don, seeing him as her next new boy-toy. I mean, doctors make a lot of money don't they? Unfortunately for Dina, Don isn't actually making much money at all as a nurse. At least not enough to keep up with Dina's bougie lifestyle.

Don decided it'd be best to just secretly steal money from Nina (who is currently an internet influencer & celebrity) bit by bit until he got promoted enough times to support Dina & her expensive taste. What on Earth are the three of them going to do once Nina's all out of money? What if Dina finds out about Don's web of lies? Will Nina finds out about Don & Dina's affair? Or will Don continue to lie, leading Dina on until she eventually gets bored of him?

So I made a few obvious changes to the Caliente family for my save.

First off, I completely deleted Katrina (Who even is she? The sims team doesn't even know who she is so why would I add her?). I was gonna add Nighat but it made no sense for Nighat for to be here if Flamenco wasn't (and I just didn't feel like making him).

I also made Nina and Don engaged in my save since I kept Cassandra as a teen in my save and I don't plan on making Kaylynn (also apparently she's canonly an infant in the sims 4 timeline??? do the sims team even care about their game anymore? How is Don a YA, Cassandra a teen, the pleasant sisters YA's, and Kaylynn and infant??? Hello????). So by process of elimination that leaves Nina and Dina to be Don's love interest, so I liked this story I came up with, especially since it ties back to

Also I made them aliens cause hello??? Flamenco??? (I know they were added before Get to Work and that they're a basegame family and all but come on EA...) So in my save (even though hybrid's don't exist) the sisters are half alien.

I'm not gonna reblog the OP directly because they didn't tag the ship so whatever but this still came across my dash and uh, we gotta talk about these tags on OPs post:

Baby - its' not even not TECHNICALLY pedophilia or incest adjacent, it is NOWHERE IN THE SAME UNIVERSE as those things.

Look, view characters however you want, if you see Hank and Connor as father and son then okay. Personally, I think that's every bit as weird as the ones who say people who ship them are weird, but you do you. I'm not here to shit on anyone's head canon.

But can we PLEASE all get some self fucking awareness and realize that's all that it is - head canon.

In the game, literally the highest relationship you can have with Hank as Connor is "Friend." That's it. They canonically end the game as friends if that's the path you choose. Anything outside of that is head canon and conjecture, and that is the whole point of fandom and fic and fanart. If you don't like someone else's interpretation, please feel free to block/ignore/look away. Curate your own internet experience, so forth and so on. Shit, I don't like Reed900 or ConVin, but I don't fucking yell at Reed shippers about it (I don't even block the tag but that is my personal choice, I highly suggest people DO those things if they need/want to.)

But to sit here and say that this ship is anywhere in the same realm as pedophilia or incest because YOU view them as father/son is actually disgusting and unhinged. However you view their relationship, they are NOT related, they do NOT have a "familial" relationship at the end of the game (a relationship level which canonically exists IN THE GAME for other characters, but notably NOT Hank and Connor), and Connor IS NOT A CHILD.

Age gaps are a thing that exist in adult relationships and despite what The Internet would have you believe, they are not actually inherently bad! I was MARRIED to someone who was 16 years older than me for quite a while, and there was nothing "pedophilic" about that relationship. My ex wasn't a predator, or a groomer, or even a bad person! Because I was an ADULT and I fully consented to the relationship. "Oh but what could someone in their early 20s/late 30s possibly have in common to base a relationship around?" Uh, lots of things actually! We had many common interests and hobbies and enjoyed many of the same things and even had mutual friends of all different ages that we are both still in contact with! The fact that our relationship didn't work out wasn't because of the difference in our ages, and even though I'm no longer on good terms with this person, I don't think they were a CREEP for pursuing me or being interested in me.

Maybe, and here me out here but just MAYBE, it's fucking WEIRD and GROSS to infantalize a whole ass ADULT, because when you equate an age gap relationship between two adults as PEDOPHILIA that is what you're doing. So like...don't fucking do that, actually. I'm not sure what the deal is with certain aspects of this fandom and insisting that Connor is an *~*uwu*~* precious baby boy who is brand new and innocent and just a widdle baby, but THAT weirds me out far more than people who wanna see him fuck Hank.

Anyway, I'm gonna wrap this up because I could rant for hours and just get more and more unhinged, but if there is ONE thing I just like, NEED people to take away from this its the following:

Head Canon is not equivalent to Canon

AND

Age Gaps ARE NOT equivalent to pedophilia.

If you don't have the life experience to learn how to keep your terrible takes to yourself, I suggest taking up journaling until you get enough sense to know better.

No hate to anyone in the D:BH fandom who ships Hankcon but I just need to air out my gripes with it since it is such a common ship in the fandom.

There's the obvious reason that they look VERY different in age (the motion capture actors have a 28 year age difference by the way). There's also the HEAVY implications that they have a father/son relationship by the good end of the game. If I shipped something that a huge chunk of the fandom read as a familial bond I dunno how tf I would feel. Also, almost every piece of Hankcon media I stumble across is EXTREMELY sexual, which of course makes me uncomfortable for obvious reasons (I'm asexual, I don't ship it, yadda yadda doesn't matter) but also I feel like the fact that people think Connor would have any sexual attraction at all is just completely out of character to me. (Yes, he stares at the models in the Eden Club if you choose to do that, but it was probably just the same as how he examines regular things because he doesn't seem to get distracted/aroused by any of the Tracis again and in fact doesn't seem to get why Hank would think it's weird why he would want to purchase an android stripper.) This is coming from someone who finds Connor VERY attractive, by the way. I dunno, there's nothing really wrong with the ship per day it just makes me feel really gross and it's so prevalent in the fandom that it's hard to avoid when looking at fan made media. Sorry if you like this ship but it just makes me feel so gross and honestly I really hate it.

Why?: Howard saw Sunny as a scientific project rather than a daughter, and did not plan to name her until he was sure if his project was a success or not.

What it means?: “New Captain America Replacement.” The 23 comes from the day she was born.

Who gave it to her: She had no name originally, so her name was given to her by her cousin, who named her after the sunshine gold her hair was when she was little. However..he could not spell, so he only got to pick her first name.

Backstory

Pre-childhood:

Born when Tony was still pretty young, Sunny’s birth was kept a secret from the world. Written off and lied about as being a miscarriage, Sunny was actually taken from her mother in her father’s plans to make a back-up for Captain America - the man that he never truly gave up searching for, but eventually began making plans to replace.

During Maria’s pregnancy with Sunny, Howard had began his work on trying to duplicate the serum given to Steve. He had yet to finish or perfect it, however, when it came time for Maria to have her.

Coincidentally, she was born early. Further cramping the timeframe of which Howard had to work with. Planning for the “greater good” of society and the world as a whole, Howard took it upon himself to put Sunny in a cryogenic chamber for safe-keeping. Leaving her there with a computer hooked up to it to systematically feed her knowledge about the world as it was gained, and to give her what he had managed to put together of the super-soldier serum that had been given to Steve before most of the remaining few records of it even existing were mysteriously ‘lost,’ never to be recovered again.

Thinking that the cryogenisis chamber would aid in slowing the absorption of both the information and the serum down until it could actually be completed all the way, Howard left Sunny in the chamber to be raised at a later time.

Never revealing to Tony that he had a little sister that he was using as a lab rat - or that he even had another sibling to begin with. All memories and questions about his mother’s second pregnancy were shut down with frustration and anger - depending on how Howard was doing at the time with his pet project.

Unbeknownst to her father when he placed her in the chamber, Sunny had been born with mutant genes. Dormant genes that had yet to come to develop her powers; ones that would not only be influenced by his actions regarding her, but forever changed by them.

After Howard and Maria’s deaths, the records of Sunny and the project were shut down and put away for good. No one knew what to do with her; subsequently, she was left in the chamber and forgotten, where she was not found until much later, when a suspiciously caused power failure led to the malfunctioning and shutting down of her chamber. A curious janitor found her days afterwards, dehydrated and alone in the old area.

When her identity was discovered through analysis of her DNA - which showed only abnormalities in the infant child’s blood at the time, not what she truly was or had within her - and all attempts to reach Tony Stark himself about the baby were a bust, Sunny was given to another relative to be raised. A very distant cousin on Howard’s side, living out on an old ranch in the country.

Sunny was not discovered until the mid-to late summertime of 2002, after an aftershock from an earthquake shook up the oldest parts of the building where she was being kept, and the lower to the entire structure had to be rebooted. Found by a janitor who was looking for injured people and who had heard her crying, the search for who she was and where she belonged began.

Known childhood:

After the subsequent care had been taken of her and her blood had been drawn for a DNA analysis (though the results were odd and only her parentage could be discerned at the time) the hunt for her family began. Before placing her with anyone outside of their family, multiple attempts to contact her elder brother Tony were made. When this failed, other relatives were tried and exhausted. Many were ruled out to begin with because it was thought that they were not suitable, making the search for placement that much harder. Finally, right when they were about to seek a different kind of homing placement for her, a letter back was received.

Sunny was taken in by Howard’s very distant cousin Hannah, and her husband George. It took them awhile to settle on a name for her, or even to agree to take her in when they already had children of their own to take care of. But when the men in black suits (which raised quite a stir in their rural little community) came from SHIELD to bring her to them, they knew that they had to keep her.

The first few years of raising her, went by at a pace that Hannah and George did not expect. Since Sunny was so different from their own two children, they had a larger learning curve than most parents of an adopted cousin would.

At the age of two, Sunny was already talking better than the other two had. She got around without nearly as much trouble, and always seemed to either want to be starting at the window to watch stars at night, or at whatever screens were available to her. By the age of three, going on four, she had developed more of an interest in taking her toys apart and putting them back together again, than actually playing with them. Her free time, mostly spent in finding things she wasn’t supposed to be in and fixing them up nearly as good as new.

It was not until the age of six, however, that Sunny really got a lot more attention from anywhere outside of their little country haven. Since she only seemed to want to fix or build things when she was supposed to play outside, eventually the other kids got tired of having to watch her and they decided to take her back inside. Having meant to get her in trouble so that she would have to stay inside instead, the other kids waited until Sadie-May wasn’t around and took Sunny up to the attic to let her play with the old computer. Not thinking that she’d be able to do much with it, but knowing that none of them were supposed to be in the attic regardless, Sunny got left up there a lot in hopes that she’d get caught.

This was, however, not what got her noticed by the outside world. It was her ability to fix the computer up, to hotwire the internet for them by toying with cables, and what she did afterwards that truly earned her the unwanted attention that the two SHIELD agents had warned them about letting be on her.

At about six years old, the computer had to be moved downstairs so that the other kids, her cousins and those from nearby families, would stop leaving her upstairs. It was also around this time, that she found out for herself and made connections to things that she wasn’t supposed to be able to. With an abnormally high IQ that was only amplified by the testing done on her and the information being fed into her, Sunny continued on like this - not acting like any other child in the area. Or that any of them had ever heard of, either.
