AHHH oh my god that'd be so good...especially since Fjord mentioned having this exact dream, and when he asks if any of the Nein ever experienced that too, Molly and Nott both say, "Yes" immediately...the implication that has had these exact visions of Lucien before and is still so haunted by it--
Also...I think it's fascinating that Fjord conjures the image of staring back at your own reflection in the water, a face that just isn't you. And Mollymauk has a card called The Moon and The Mirror in his very own tarot deck, Catha's reflection in the water corrupted and distorted into Ruidus. This benevolent moon of light and comfort and her cursed twin. A phantom image that isn't real, but that haunts you nonetheless. Catha and Ruidus, Molly and Lucien--

YES, this is such a good point too!! okay so I love that moment in the campaign and it's so interesting to me because--when that episode first came out, Taliesin said Molly didn't actually get the dream potion for himself?? 👀
I dug back through some old posts for quotes, and back then he said that, “Molly sleeps like a baby,” because, “I’ve only got two years of wronging people and doing anything particularly criminal or terrible, so it makes life a little easier. He’s only had two years…so that’s a pretty clean slate.”
And I can't find what the rest of the quote was, but I'm pretty sure he mentioned that he actually bought the bottle because he knew there were others in the party who had nightmares, and he was saving it for them. Which is just...so so sweet ; ; He rooms with Fjord, he's seen him waking up coughing up seawater enough times before. And he's seen Caleb wake screaming from nightmares. The thought of him holding onto that potion because he saw how much his friends were hurting...
But, as we've seen before--Molly very much does have nightmares. I don't think Taliesin is lying exactly when he says Molly sleeps like a baby and is genuinely happier because he's still so new to the world, but. I think he's very much downplaying the reality of it, maybe in part because Molly keeps trying to push any reminder of the past away.
I can see Mollymauk definitely telling himself he sleeps soundly and has no terrible horrors lurking in his past, but. I feel like it's because he's been desperately trying to block those dreams and memories out. (He even says he's forgotten what most of those first few weeks of his life were like, so...perhaps he's mostly forgotten those dreams of the Eyes and Lucien from that first night? Or at least, tries to tell himself that it never happened--)
We know Molly also expresses having dreams and impulses of Lucien that still haunt him, things that creep back and set him on edge, leave him having a "mild nervous breakdown" while drinking alone in a tavern. The comic is what really seals it, because we see firsthand how Molly wakes terrified from nightmares of Cognouza still.
I hope that tiny little moment in Berleben is something we get to see; the juxtaposition of Molly insisting it isn't for him, he's never had a bad dream in his life. Mollymauk really intending it for Caleb, Fjord, any of his new family who might be losing sleep. While the reality is that he's also been battling his own nightmares from the moment he first clawed his way out of the grave--
:(( what if animated nein shows us Molly’s nightmares of Lucien and the somnovum—
#sorry this got so long but#i just have so many thoughts about molly supposedly 'sleeping like a baby' and desperate to will away the image of every waking#nightmare that lucien left behind--#mollymak dream sequence of lucy and the somnovem in animated mighty nein would absolutely destroy me i think--#even as a child lucien woke up crying and screaming from nightmares about his family in the fire and just...man. that hurts--
