SOLO 2
Previously on Miraculous: Solo!: The akuma finally makes an appearance and Chat's fears come true as Madame Cheng succeeds in saving him from certain doom but not herself. To top it off, Marinette was there to witness all of it before her eyes. And Ladybug? Completely MIA.
Wordcount: 1054 [masterpost]
As if it couldn’t get any worse, something hit her side and Marinette felt ice grow up from her shoes up to her shoulder, freezing almost the entirety of her left side.
Panic surged as she found herself being forced into a kneeling position. Policemen rushed past her now in on the scene with backup on the way. Marinette’s breathing became more erratic the more she realized the ice would not budge. What hit her? Sounds of what sounded like a small creature made eye contact with her as they both looked up to read their surroundings. It began to fly towards where she was.
“No– don't come here urgh–!”
Marinette squinted her eyes shut when the flying snow minion, charging its ice ray to take the shot at the girl with pigtails, began to near. But then a familiar silver rod smacked away the monster mid-air, making it disappear into nothing in a puff of snowy smoke upon contact with the weapon.
“Hold on, Marinette!”
Leaping into the air, Chat battered away any remaining monsters that tried to come close. “Are you okay?”
“I-I’m stuck and can't move!” And things continued to worsen, the girl realized, the thought solidifying as she saw clear geometrical ice cages be lifted into the air along with the hovering akuma by a wave of her gloved hand, each trapping an individual civilian including her precious mother.
The akuma did everything effortlessly with a simple movement of her hands, so much so that it made Marinette narrow her eyes at them. Where could the akumatized object be?
“I am Solo, the one who has isolated you all in this winter. If you all wish for your loved ones to be released, Ladybug and Chat Noir must forfeit their miraculouses lest all the prisoners become pillars of frozen ice and the rest of you will remain in this cold forever.”
Not this again. Chat Noir couldn’t help but grit his teeth angrily at the growing ridiculousness of Hawkmoth’s games.
He destroyed an incoming swarm of snow minions with a spin of his baton, and yelled. “As if, Froyo! You release them first and then we’ll talk!” He then quickly used his arm to shield his face from a group of policemen blowing past him, carried away by the akuma's wind. “Civilly, of course.”
“Maman!” Marinette trembled, not from the cold, but from using every fiber of her being to will herself to keep her tears and crying at bay. Okay, she’ll admit now.
It was recently when she had a talk with her mother who just wanted to understand her odd behavior. Odd behavior being her weird absences and staying late up at night in her room, being strangely sleep deprived and among other things that didn't add up for Sabine who was worried.
It was on one cloudy evening in their household kitchen dining table and Marinette could remember clearly the agonizing seconds that took forever to tick by. She couldn’t bring herself to confess her alter ego to her mother, not knowing what would happen to her if she did. And now she definitely could not transform on live television.
Marinette knew her mother didn’t fully believe her and Marinette knew too that her mother, in her love, chose not to press on when she fatefully could not find any words to build a concrete excuse. She trusted her, her mother had said, and she would be there for her whenever she needed someone. Tears had threatened to spill over as she held her mother with her holding her back, like she always had since she was young.
Marinette knew then, it was the guilt that made her feel so isolated, so alone, so–
“Please! Let them go! Please, just let them go I’m begging you!”
Chat Noir had not moved from his spot, at a loss of what to do with the number of minions diminishing. He could hear his classmate’s cries, wracking his heart with sharp pain. I’m sorry, he couldn’t help but say in his mind.
There had to be something he could do. The akuma seemed to be open to a conversation just a few moments ago. Could that create an opening?
“Are you...” Solo floated back near to the Earth's surface, gently stepping back onto the ground with only Chat Noir standing between herself and a young pigtailed girl. Backup had not arrived yet and the police were no longer present. “Alone?”
“A-Alone?” Marinette choked out. Even with her quiet voice, the word echoed back the akuma’s question. “I-I–”
“Hold on.” Tilting her head, Solo continued. “I know of you, I have seen you at school. Your name is Marinette Dupain-Cheng.”
Chat Noir tensed.
Maybe this was his chance to move. He dared to glance towards Marinette for a quick few seconds but was taken aback by how conflicted she looked. Marinette had always been a special personality in his school. Kind, open, and hilariously funny and endearing. Solo was not weird for knowing about their school celebrity.
Especially... if they went to their school...
“Yes, that’s me... Have we met? Before?”
Solo shook her head no at Marinette's response. “That is not important. Ladybug is the one I am waiting for. But you have not answered my previous question." She stepped one foot closer. "Are you alone?”
A bead of sweat rolled down Marinette’s face as she sharply inhaled air. The wrong answer could end in disaster, that she knew, probably end up encased in a beautifully crafted ice cage too. But what if there was no right answer? Is anyone truly alone? She looked to the people stuck in the sky, to her mother, and felt the warm familiar nudge from inside her bag.
Yes, she could feel alone, incredibly alone sometimes. But she never needed to be alone if she found herself out of company.
Looking back down, Marinette’s eyes suddenly met with a pair of bright green. Something in her stomach fluttered and flipped at the sincerity she found in the boy superhero’s eyes as they gazed at each other across the pavement, the one thing that had never changed since day one.
“I’m... not.” Marinette’s voice found stability the more she felt her heart become warm. "I’m not. No."
“I see. So it is just me.”
“MARINETTE!”

I was informed it was Marinette day???? Yes PLEASE thank you so much to @mar1netteday for this lovely event it brings me j o y
I believe I started watching Miraculous Ladybug the same year season 1 was released? Like many people, I was instantly hooked because anyone can tell this show had just so much potential and so does Marinette Dupain-Cheng girl i love you sm (like canonically she probably is a little older than me but she is my daughter in my heart).
There was so much in this girl i love, my comfort character. She liked to create and it didn't matter what it was or how, Marinette just had an incredible of amount wonderful things she wanted to bring forth into the world and she knew it too!! Whether it was in fashion, art, album covers, the way she faced her problems, give gifts, the way she wants to express herself creatively in any way possible, fsjhsldg I LOVE THAT SO MUCH HOW COULD YOU NOT.
Honestly Marinette is someone you want on your team, being practically an all-rounder. She is a great leader, a kind friend, and a hardworking daughter, and positively the best Marinette she can be at every moment even as she is still growing. Seeing her grow makes me so proud.
Also let's not forget just how pretty she is???? I know not a lot of 14 year olds wear pigtails anymore (at least not where I'm from) but for some reason she just?? went from wearing a bun to pigtails???? You go girl!!! Yes sweetie rock those pigtails they are so iconic!!!!!!! And the amount of talent she has???? Too much but yes keep! it! coming!!!!!!!!!! Sewing, baking, designing, decorating, planning, gaming, fencing, sports, MAKING FRIENDS literally how could you not want someone like Marinette in your life. She is so funny and hilarious and cute please I want to hug her oH
And she loves her family and friends which I love to see. She hugs and hugs everyone she loves gets a Marinette hug!! She just wants to squeeze you so hard with her arms around so you know just how much she appreciates your existence!!!
Lastly, I didn't grow up watching a lot of western shows with an Asian female lead and so finding about MLB was really a special moment for me because I relate to a lot of Marinette's Asian experience as well. Like when she's not very good at Mandarin because boy that really hits deep. When you're young, you're just trying to figure out how you can fit in where you are at the moment.
So when I was watching the Shanghai special, I was so excited for her to learn more about her Chinese heritage! I could tell that she really did admire great uncle Wang. Typing this part kinda makes me want to tear up lolol The part where she sees old pictures of her mother? It left an impression on me, like the moment felt so, so real. Marinette just embraces everything and is still learning to embrace so many parts of herself, making her into the girl/superhero she is today. I also remember in the movie, she missed out on making dumplings. It made me sad but it just goes to show how hard Marinette works, fighting for justice and making wrongs right in and out of the costume.
Marinette has so much on her plate that she misses stuff like that and spending time to learn about herself in different ways, spending time with her parents and family, spending time with friends, spending time relaxing and not having responsibilities young teenagers shouldn't have on their shoulders. Marinette truly is such a hardworking and determined individual and I deeply admire her dedication to persevere.
I want this girl to get everything she ever deserves, happiness, love, those she cares about in her life, and freedom to express herself in any way she wants and to triumph every evil that dares stand in her way all the while still looking super cute and amazing! Happy Mar1nette day everyone!

Happy Marichat March to all you fellow shippers and cadets! This is the first part of an oneshot/drabble fic I have written for @themiraculousladyblog for her birthday! Hope you all enjoy~ I am considering on writing a second part!
Wordcount: 1839 [masterpost]
It was when the akuma siren went off that Marinette looked at her mother Sabine with pleading eyes. “Please can I–”
“It’s much too dangerous, Marinette I cannot let you go outside!” The woman whispered back before going to deal with another customer, giving them their change. “Just stay in the bakery after Chat Noir and Ladybug have dealt with the poor akuma victim. I know both you and Alya have a keen interest in superheroes and journaling, but this one looks bad.”
And just as the customer opened the door to walk into the nice sunny outdoors, they were met with a giant pile of snow that toppled on them. Marinette watched as her well-meaning mother gestured to the unfortunate civilian as an example.
She groaned and pivoted herself on her heels. “Alright, alrigggght. I'll go get the broom for you.” To be fair, the akuma didn't even look that bad! They were no Stormy Weather, oh no no. Someone just wanted winter to come a little early, maybe–. Marinette wasn't sure what the reason was yet as the akuma victim themselves hadn't made an actual appearance but the weather forecast wasn't what was important. If she could just make up a believable and legitimate excuse–
Crack, crack–
Marinette barely had time to save herself from falling as the floor beneath her turned into ice. The glistening frozen magic was beginning to crawl into each crevice of the city. Thankfully her quick reflexes cultivated by her clumsy nature saved in time, hands now gripping a counter for dear life.
Yeeaaah– she never did well at skating rinks.
“Marinette! Are you okay?” Tikki flew from her kitchen hiding spot, having forgotten her cookie.
The girl could only loudly sigh with her head hanging in defeat. “We won’t be if we don’t get to our winter clothes in time before all of Paris freezes over. The situation is getting worse but maman just refuses to let me go out... Which is fair enough but Chat Noir is probably out there by himself! If I can’t transform I can’t defeat the akuma and purify Hawkmoth’s stupid butterfly!”
Tikki waited for the agitated superhero to finish her anxious ramble before giving a reassuring pat on her young charge who was now digging through the family storage for winter jackets and other clothing. “Problems like these are normal for Ladybugs, we’ll figure something out! Plus, I’m sure Chat Noir can handle the akuma on his own for at least a while.” The kwami was stopped short when Marinette quickly put on a tiny knit hat on Tikki that was found in one of the pockets of the jacket she had chosen.
“I’m not risking a n y t h i n g.”
“You can trust him, Marinette.”
“It’s not–” Marinette looked away for a second. Her shoulders tensed a little when she could not find the words at the moment.
“Marinette...” Tikki’s expression softened, floating up to nuzzle the girl’s face. “You’re not the only superhero in Paris. It’ll be okay, promise. Even if you can’t make it right now – and I know your relationship and trust with your mother is important – no one will be mad at Ladybug for being a little late sometimes, especially not Chat Noir.”
The two stayed still for a moment in the hallway. Marinette felt her heart swell with gratitude, for Tikki by her side, for her superhero partner who was out there fighting, and for her loving parents.
Her parents.
And then she felt that, the usual twinge of guilt she always tried to stomp out, the one humongous secret she kept from everyone but her best friend Alya... Alya!
“Hey!” Marinette beamed as an idea begin to form in her head. “What if I make a mirage of me staying in the bakery while I go help defeat the akuma!”
“Oh! A fox and ladybug miraculous fusion?”
“Yes, but right after I bring this jacket to... my... mom.....”
The chill was harsh on Marinette’s face as the wind blew in.
From the now doorless bakery store.
“What on earth–” The grip on the jackets tightened as both Marinette and Tikki surveyed the scene in horror. It looked like the bakery got hit by a giant boulder and took the whole front of the store with it. What was even more eerie was the fact that there was one person that wasn’t in the building anymore. “Maman?”
“Marinette wait–”
But the girl was already rushing into the ice encrusted streets, shouting for her mother.
___________________________________
Faaaaantastic. This was great! Awesome even!
Chat Noir dodged another hit and laughed to himself, n e r v o u s l y. For the past half an hour or so, he had been doing his best to keep the akuma at bay, masterfully cracking jokes along the way as he scurried for dear life over rooftops.
But this particular piece of WORK Hawkmoth sent this time had little floating snow minions that spat ice rays?????? And it froze e v e r y t h i n g hoHO, hilarious, really, good job Hawky.
Best part yet? He haven’t even found the akumatized victim yet! These annoying deadly monsters hit him once and he was toast. Ironic, given the temperature. Chat Noir gripped his baton once more, chest heaving up and down after sprinting, from his hiding spot behind a chimney in frustration and difficulty keeping calm. Just wait till Ladybug gets here. Just wait, it’ll all be over soon like always.
The cat-themed superhero inhaled and exhaled, focusing on steeling his nerves. In through the nose and out through the mouth Adrien! He could do this. He could prove that he could hold his ground for those who trusted him as long as he was needed to do so.
And so he peered over his shoulder, carefully past the chimney with a shakily held breath, a small foggy cloud forming where his lips were in the cold. Nothing in sight! The coast was clear.
Chat let his breath go and turned his head back.
And then screamed.
“AAAAAAAAUUUUuuuuuuh–”
Two pairs of blue eyes pierced straight through his own, two blue eyes that were not of his lady’s. The gaze was sharp yet... lifeless, and it bore straight into him. Textbook definition of unsettling, don’t you guys think? As soon as he recovered from his initial shock, Chat Noir readied his baton with a battle stance.
“How nice of you to drop by! Reeeeally like what you’ve done with the place.” His head jerked towards the frozen city with a grin to make more obvious what he was referring to but his eyes remained trained on the newly appeared supervillain puppet.
It was an expressionless girl who seemed to be around his age maybe? Her long, cascading hair was now a very pale blue as it was with the rest of her color scheme and she was floating off the ground, a strong chill radiating off her that made any living thing she passed by tremble. She made no move to attack yet, thankfully.
“Are you...”
Is he what?? “The one who took down forty!! of your monsters??? Y e s that was me.” Was it okay for him to say that? What if the akuma figured out that Ladybug hadn’t shown up yet? What if–
“Alone?”
Oh no.
Chat Noir could only think to distract the akuma then. “Focus froyo! Or you’re in it for a major cool down!”
“Of course you aren’t. You have Ladybug.”
"Huh? Hold oN-" And just as easily the akuma had spooked him, he was blasted away by a magically charged gust of winter wind, sending him flying miles past buildings and billboards.
The wind was knocked out of him and Chat Noir grunted as he skidded to a stop on all fours, shuddering when he stood up to shake some snow off his head. "Can you chill???" A rhetorical question but it couldn't hurt to ask, right? These puns weren't rolling off his tongue like they usually did, it was so cold he could barely move sometimes. Only the sheer will of not getting killed was what kept Chat light on his toes.
Quickly, he extended his baton and hit three of the flying snow minions away from him. He had to find her and fast. "Where'd she go?”
A chill then went up his spine.
When trying to move forward, he found that his left foot attached firmly to the ground. No no no– The ice ray barely got him but barely was enough to pin him down, now stuck in the middle of a crossroads. This place looked familiar too... There was the school and then the bakery next to it and–
The Dupain-Chengs!
Chat Noir could feel the approaching frigid aura, urging him to chip away at the ice faster. He didn’t have a plan that involved his Cataclysm yet with Ladybug currently absent. But if he didn’t work fast enough–
“Chat Noir!”
“M-Madame??” The superhero waved frantically at the woman who was running over to him with a kitchen blowtorch, hoping she would go back into hiding. “Madame please! It’s really, really not safe out here right now!” He was ignored and Sabine begin to work on his foot.
“It won’t take long, I rest assure you. Cover for me if something happens; you are the most important person to save right now.” She continued to thaw the ice, breathing a sigh of relief when the blowtorch showed signs of being effective on the magically created substance.
“Thank you, I do appreciate it a lot but–” Chat Noir’s faux ears twitched. She was here. “Hide! Please!” He lifted the woman by the arm and with the ice thawed enough, he extended his baton with rapid speed and broke the rest of it away. “You have to go.” Chat Noir shuddered. First from the cold, but then a second time from fear.
“Are you... alone?”
Two empty eyes fixed on Sabine who stood her ground, a somber look on her face as she rose to full height. “No, I am not.” The woman took one more good look at the akuma then her brows knitted sorrowfully in question. “Are you?”
Chat Noir watched as the slightest look of hurt flashed across the akuma’s face, as if her heart ached painfully inside. “Madame–”
Little do they know that ice was growing not only over the city, but in the akuma's chest as well.
“I... I always have been... alone.” The last word was said with so much bitterness, it made both Parisians take a pause to ponder the reason behind this person’s akumatization. After all, behind every akuma was a person. The realization made Chat Noir all the more determined to put a stop to this, all of this.
“Mamaaan! Maman, no!”
Shoot.
“Marinette?! Don’t come here!” The mother took a step towards her daughter, realizing too late what was swirling around her feet
She felt a chill.

SOLO 3
Previously on Miraculous: Solo!: Marinette holds guilt in hiding her alter-ego, resulting in feeling more isolated than ever, and it takes some deep reflection on the akuma battle zone to realize that she is not alone as she thinks she is. What is Hawkmoth saying to the akuma? Will Chat ever financially emotionally recover from what his class president decides to do next??
Wordcount: 2017 [masterpost]
Marinette’s heart stopped when the gust of wind wielding icicles that was hurled at her hit not herself, but Chat Noir who had jumped in front of her to take the blow.
He was more than ready for when Solo would make a move, but the wind was strong and some shards still managed to escape his baton and the superhero eventually keeled over, the relentless wind once again sending him flying.
“Chat?!" The ice kept Marinette in place but that didn't stop her from stretching her right arm forward to reach the fallen hero. "Chat Noir are you okay? No wait, can you get up??” Oh minou, Marinette thought, heart crestfallen.
Groaning in pain and exhaustion, Chat Noir was surprised to feel a gentle touch. “Y-Yeah, I’m fine. It’s fine.” He sniffled loudly and groaned again, still waiting for the next blow to come. “This is just all in a day’s work haha. I can already hear the helicopters coming, we’ll get you to some place safe soon too.”
Seeing Chat Noir in this state, after holding up all by himself for this long, it made Marinette’s chest squeeze tightly. What she would give to transform into Ladybug right now safely and fix everything for him to be alright. For a moment, she remembered when she got him out of the walk-in fridge which nearly frightened her to death if she were to be honest.
Of course she wasn’t alone. Her dear chaton was doing such a good job.
“I’m doing what?”
.........
Did she say that out loud–
“You’re– You’re a h e m doing something off, is what I said.” Nice save Marinette. Hopefully. Wait– Why was her Marinette vision high lighting Chat Noir and the akuma? “It’s probably because you’re too cold! Yeah,,,, Justtakethisscarfandputiton.” Her vision also suddenly lit up the scarf she held up a few seconds later.
“Wait I’m–” With no time to protest, Chat Noir was bundled up snug with a green scarf around him and all he could do was surrender.
Don’t move don’t move don’t mOVE–
He remained silent but he could hear his heartbeat pounding in his ears as loud as the howling wind before. Not that he was already ABSOLUTELY SCREAMING IN HIS HEAD RIGHT NOW. Even with the current weather, Adrien failed to keep his own rising temperature down.
Remember when he mentioned that Marinette was a school celebrity? There was no exaggeration in saying so, none. Though he didn’t say it much as he’d like, just as Marinette she looked up to him, he looked up to her too.
What she was doing to him now, Marinette was reassuring him right in the middle of an akuma attack, speaking softly and letting her hands reach towards him with warmth. Him, a superhero. Chat Noir is supposed to be the one comforting and reassuring those around him but one person decided that they were worth sparing some comfort when he was supposed to be brave.
And that alone was putting him on the highest cloud nine.
Chat could not help but chuckle in the midst of the battle as Marinette did her best to manage with one hand while muttering to herself how superheroes did not deserve to be cold.
“Akuma or no akuma, you need to take care of yourself and if you’re just gonna go on and forget to then you’ll just have to deal with people who will, so stop thinking you’re so indestructible p l e a s e. I-I’ve seen you on the news, y’know–” The pigtailed girl said with a little huff.
“Pfft alright, I’m making a mental note as we speak and pinning it onto my mental bulletin board. Will that reassure you?” Chat Noir felt the corners of his mouth twitch up, almost forgetting the danger looming close by, the danger who also just so happened to finish dealing the with helicopters. Not that he had forgotten about Solo- His heart was just busy pounding about something else at the moment,,,
“Act quickly Solo! Chat Noir is distracted, his miraculous will be easy to take!”
The akuma nodded at the command, turning to find the superhero. She then stopped short. In the distance, kneeling on the ground was an injured Chat Noir and a trapped Marinette looking at each other, quietly chatting.
“The police sirens are near, what are you waiting for??”
Suddenly, Solo’s arms went limp as she continued to observe despite Hawkmoth’s growing distress. Her eyes stayed on the green scarf and the whirling wind around her began to die down. Hawkmoth’s voice was getting louder as did the sirens but nothing could make Solo tear her eyes away from the two teenagers.
For once, an emotion took hold of her. Taking one hand, she put it on her chest and gripped her suit.
“Hawkmoth," She spoke barely above a whisper now before pausing. "You promised me anything I wanted.”
The akuma’s sudden voice made both Marinette and Chat’s head turn rapidly towards its direction, their eye’s widening in surprise.
“Then why am I still alone?”
Crystal clear tears began to form, silently and soundlessly dripping down from two blue eyes. Everyone began to prepare for the worst. News reporters and police officers watched on in great interest. Cameras zoomed in on the akuma's face, broadcasting the tear-stricken face in high definition.
The akuma, Solo, seemed to have gained some type of awareness as she looked around at the destruction and chaos she had caused in shock. Her pupils shook in terror and fear at the sight of the prisoners she held captive in Hawkmoth’s name, all with the power he gave her, and at the surrounding new station cameras and police forces. Marinette and Chat Noir readied themselves when Solo’s eyes found them again.
But she wasn’t really looking at them, she was looking at the scarf that Chat not so long ago received from Marinette.
“Solo, I’m giving you one last chance, you are running out of time–”
The akuma opened her mouth, at first nothing came out, but then the two teenagers began to pick up a small voice.
“I–"
"What are you doing?!"
"–wanted my mother to come pick me up from school... for her to bring a scarf and tie it around me like the other mothers did too.”
Chat Noir slightly lowered his baton.
“I also wished for my father to come home early more, I kept dinner warm for him every night if he did return.”
Marinette, too, loosened her grip on Chat.
“I hoped for friends, even though I would always move away from them soon.” No longer able to hold her head up to look at anybody, Solo buried her face into her hands, refusing to face any watching eyes as she revealed her last confession. “And it was not that I was not loved,” her voice cracked. “Just not loved enough.”
“Cease your needless rambling or I will take away ALL your POWERS. Ladybug hasn’t shown up and you’re not any nearer towards your goal! Get their MIRACULOUSES.”
The akuma’s hands then quickly grabbed the side of her head, whimpering as a migraine washed over its victims brain for Hawkmoth to regain control, not able to hold in anymore sobs. “I don’t– I don’t want to be alone–!”
“It’s already too late for you, don’t you think so, Solo?”
“It’s... It's too... late?”
“It’s not!”
Both Chat and Marinette looked at each other in surprise, having simultaneously shouted the same answer. Marinette continued first though, looking into the akuma’s eyes to find anything left of who they really were underneath. “It’s not too late. Don’t you dare listen to him! You said we went to the same school right? I want to be your friend!”
Chat immediately followed up. “Not sure if it’s entirely safe to be friends with a superhero but if you’re ever in trouble and don’t know who to call, the Chat Noir and Ladybug hotline is always available.” The words came out a little more seriously than Adrien had anticipated. Partially, he thought, was because he was unaware of the severity of the akuma victim’s home life and personal life. But he prayed in his heart it was nothing close to his own, despite the fact that he could heavily relate to Solo’s soul-crushing loneliness and from the looks of it, Marinette understood it too.
The two waited in anticipation, watching Solo squeeze her eyes shut and opening them to let more tears fall. She was at a loss and her head spun, different voices telling her to make different choices. Which was the right one?
“I am giving you one last chance, Solo, or watch your frozen heart be shattered. Get. Me. Th–”
“I can’t.”
“Why NOT.”
Solo slowly gazed up at the two teenagers, the frigid air around her disappearing along with her resolve to side with this villain. “Though my heart be frozen, I still have one, and it says that no one deserves to be alone.” Instantly, the akuma raised her hands and the ice prisons lowered to the ground and shattered into a trillion pieces, its fine glitter-like imitation catching the sunlight.
And that’s when the second migraine came back with a vendetta and the akuma screamed. Police started rushing towards her once they saw an opening.
“Quick! Chat, the akumatized object is her gloves!” Marinette shouted frantically, her side already becoming numb to the point of making her dizzy.
Chat Noir wasted no time. “On it!” He said as he sped forward, sliding on the ice past the remaining snow minions and ahead of the police officers. “CATACLYSM.” And with a single touch of his claws, the gloves disintegrated into nothingness and out flew a dark purple butterfly. “Okay, this part I have n o t rehearsed with Ladybug.”
He’s r i g h t, Marinette thought as the color drained from her face. That’s when a small red blur zipped past her and back all within a blink of an eye.
“Oh. It got eaten– by a bird?” A puzzled look crossed Chat Noir’s masked face who was still looking for the akuma butterfly for some reason.
“Haha yeah– niceblowtorchmamanbutihavetogonowthanksILEFTTHEOVENONTHISWHOLETIME–” And with that Marinette rushed back into the bakery as quick as she had ran out of it earlier, her one boot still stuck and left in the ice once the girl decided as long as she escaped with her clothes, it was all fine.
“Oh.” Sabine looked from where her daughter had ran to and then to Chat Noir. “Would you like to keep the scarf?” She smiled curiously at the boy.
“I-I’ll return it later, thanks,,,” Chat Noir scratched the back of his neck then felt his ring beep. Right on time, as usual. Before he shot away with his baton, looked back to Solo who should be in her civilian self now and walked over to her.
Like with every akumatized victim, she had a vague to absolutely nonexistent recollection of what had happened. But even so, the girl turned away in shame when she saw someone approach her. “I’m sorry for being the cause of this. I gave into Hawkmoth and let him destroy the city again....” The superhero could see tears threaten to roll down again.
Chat knelt down, his ring beeping once more. “Hey, it’s not on you. Hawkmoth was using you and you did well fighting him back as well.” It took a moment for the girl to register what Chat Noir had said but when she finally did, he was already gone. At that same moment, a Miraculous Ladybug cure was also cast, meaning Ladybug was finally present and all well thankfully, but she’d be the one to deal with the loud interviewers much to the superhero’s annoyance.
As Ladybug also heard the beeping on her own earrings over the clamoring crowd of reporters, she took a glance at the girl sitting alone in the police van with a blanket resting on her hunched up shoulders.
She was going to have to do something about that.

SOLO 6 [bonus chapter]
Previously on Miraculous: Solo!: He caught her hand before she could put it down and held it between the two of them for a moment, squeezing it lightly in his own palm and feeling its smallness. Adrien imagined just how much weight the world has given for such small hands. His fingers laced with hers just for a moment. “Then I am in your debt, your highness.” The superhero said.

Adrien laid in bed with two scarves in hand.
One blue, one green.
His eyes focused on nothing but the two knitted items. One was gifted to him by his father for his last birthday, the other he had received just yesterday from his friend. He knew from the moment Marinette put the scarf on him, the material, the smell, all felt familiar. They were the exact size, the exact thickness of yarn, the exa–
“K i d, if this another one of your conspiracy theories, just go to bed already will ya? You can literally see her tomorrow. Plagg’s complaints did not fully register as proven by Adrien's late and halfhearted “uhuh.” and the kwami was t h i s close to just turning off the lights.
“Something is up Plagg, the only difference is the color!”
“And the only difference between you and a rock is that one is alive and the other one ISN’T. Go to sleep you dense knucklehead!! AAAAUUUUGH.”
Listening to the kwami’s pleas, Adrien flicked off the light switch and buried himself under his covers. He wanted answers too, you know? If what he's seeing is real, then... Marinette was the one who made him the blue scarf. But then how would have his father gotten his hands on it? Did he commission her? But his father didn't know about Marinette until the hat contest! Where was the missing connection? Scientists are still struggling to find the answer.
And they smelled the same too, who was he kidding, of course it was Marinette’s work, it was similar to what her balcony blanket smelled like. Not that he uh– knew it first-hand– Adrien sighed, exhausted from thinking in circles round and round, breathing in the soft yarn of the scarves as he held them close to him, against his chest right under his chin. They were comforting, two of the few handmade items in this big mansion. He had been promised a hat as well and the thought made the teen model giddy, slightly kicking his feet underneath the blanket.
There was just– so much about her he didn't know yet. Marinette was endlessly interesting and the more he got to know her and see her, the more he found reasons to continue being Chat Noir, to not give up even when he felt unwanted, unneeded, or when he slipped up or felt like giving up. Because she
she, Marinette Dupain-Cheng,
cared about him, all the different parts of him. Someone believed in him like he believed in her.
Adrien Agreste, he thought. How did you get so darn lucky?

Her face was still burning after splashing cold water on herself for the umpteenth time.
Marinette had long given up on her heated face by the time she crawled into bed, the memories replaying in her mind without her meaning to. The girl still had not said anything even as Tikki came to nuzzle up against her.
“Mm,” the kwami' yawned, “Marinette? What's wrong?”
“Where the HECK do I put all my posters of Adrien when Chat comes over????” Marinette whisper-shouted, using her arms that shot up into the air to emphasize her question, then letting them flop back down.
Tikki only giggled back, knowing a little more than Marinette did. “I'm sure he wouldn't mind it much, you did say it was for your passion for fashion anyway.”
“Ughh–” A pillow was taken from beside her to muffle the girl's agitated groans. “N o o n e believes that!”
“Well then, I fully believe in you to work your way around things! You two don't have to work in your room.”
“So you mean... for us to go outside?”
“Mhmm.”
“Like a d-date?”
“Not what I said but don't let me deter you from your dreams.”
“I don't dream about– about dating Chat Noir!” Marinette sputtered, though it was already too late as her mind flooded her imagination with thoughts of her and Chat in disguise, studying at the library and getting ice cream afterwards, not that it would be Andre’s! It could be any ice cream place like the grocery store! Super unromantic! Oh wait no–
Marinette looked deeply troubled as she realized being in a grocery store with Chat would still be very romantic,,, “Look, getting over Luka was hard enough and I'm doing my best to be there for Adrien's as a friend because he really, really needs one who will listen to him.... And I'm Ladybug! And the guardian!!”
“Sleep, Marinette. No need to... overthink it...... now........”
Sleep came to the kwami but Marinette was still restless. She didn't want to use Chat Noir as some sort of rebound or someone to distract her, he deserved so much better, the best of the best.
“Only the best...” Muttered Marinette as she tiredly turned to lie on her side.
Darnit, she wanted to be that best.
She was going to show him so much care that he wouldn't even know what to do with it all. Gonna suffocate all her loved ones with her affection, yeah, that’s the plan. Chat Noir is just a loved one haha.
Simply just someone special to her and nothing else.
With that conclusion, Marinette could feel her brain begin to slow down to let her rest, her eyes closing as she drifted off to dream land where she can chase down Hawkmoth with her knitting needles to stab him with.

SOLO 4
Previously on Miraculous: Solo!: After seeing what they want most out of reach, the akuma's resolve wavers and shatters, and the butterfly is purified. Footage of the latest akuma spread and are played over and over on the news for the whole nation to see, doing them no favors in helping the situation that got them akumatized in the first place. It would seem that the victim will still have to resume to enduring their solitary life. But not if Marinette and Adrien could help it.
Wordcount: 2252 [masterpost]
“Well I almost slipped on the ice and died, Alya. I really do think that gives me the right to still look a little shaken up the day after an incident.”
“You slipped and almost fell into my dad’s tarantula tank. And I think you look spiffy and not at all traumatized.”
Nino couldn’t help but blush in the presence of all his friends after his girlfriend’s sudden compliment (it was a compliment right–?), sinking down his seat in at the cafeteria table. “Thanks. I am spiffy, whatever that means.”
“It means you look great!” Adrien chimed in. “I’d have to agree with our journalist here, she has all the facts.”
“Your trust in me moves me to tears Adrien, I thank you.” Alya laughed. “Though, speaking of journalism, I got some shots of the fight yesterday!”
Nino adjusted his glasses and sat up straight again to look at Alya’s phone, putting an arm around her in the process. “The fight? You mean the full-blown panic attack that was broadcasted worldwide for all to see?”
His friend’s bluntness about the situation made Adrien wince internally. Nino wasn’t wrong though, akumas were all charged by strong emotions, further fueled by Hawkmoth to be weaponized. He remembered the times when he saw people’s most vulnerable states being exposed and put on full display, all their insecurities made known, with superheroes and supervillains in the front row seats.
And now looking at the footage Alya had procured, Adrien recounted how distraught and wounded the akuma was. When Marinette had squeezed his arm during Solo’s monologue, his heart ached for all those who had to endure being isolated, either by others or themselves.
He stood up. “I have to go.” His chair screeched across the floor behind him as he packed up his remaining lunch.
“Go? Dude, go where?” Nino moved back in surprise. Alya looked up at Adrien also, curiously examining him.
“Oh I need to look for,,,,,Marinette! I know she’s usually late but it’s been a while and she hasn’t texted any of us so–”
“Ohhhh.” Alya boredly looked away until her face could no longer be seen by Adrien, then she let out her silent smirk. “Yeah, it is definitely weird. I haven’t gotten a text yet either. Have you, Nino? Nothing, huh? Alright Adrien, we’re counting on you bro.”
“You don’t think it’s something serious this time is it–” Nino gave them an anxious look. “It’s probably just Marinette being Marinette again, right?” Marinette was on the news too so who was to say that reporters would leave her alone?
Adrien put his utensils down to walk over and give Nino a pat on the shoulder with a small smile. “I’ll go make sure she’s okay, don’t worry.”

Adrien put his utensils down to walk over and give Nino a pat on the shoulder with a small smile. “I’ll go make sure she’s okay, don’t worry.”
It took some asking around but it wasn’t before long Marinette learned that they had had a few new transfer students that likely got akumatized this semester and she was given names and a simple description of each person. She looked around the cafeteria, downstairs, upstairs, the courtyard, the art room. So far, she hadn’t found anyone she was looking for.
“Tikki, you do remember her saying that she already knew who I was right?” Marinette muttered as she headed towards the lockers.
“That’s what I heard too! So you’re bound to find her eventually.” The kwami gave an encouraging smile, knowing she was right.
Marinette smiled back. “True, but I just want to make sure she’s... you know, fine?” Marinette hoped she was right, for the other person’s sake. She pushed opened the doors to the lockers and was about to speak again before she choked on her words upon seeing people inside. “Oh b o y, I really need to get started on my project there’s just so many things to do and keep track of haha–” Please p l e a s e just assume she was talking out loud to herself.
Much to her relief, everyone resumed to what they were doing, some chatting or putting things away. But there was something off, something Marinette now noticed after being Ladybug for a while. There was one part of the room that everyone seemed to be doing their best to avoid. As Marinette walked in deeper, past the lockers and people who might’ve spared a curious glance, she realized who the students were avoiding.
It was horrible and wrong in Marinette's eyes, everyone knew most of Hawkmoth’s akumas were attacked by him when they are at their most vulnerable and emotional, some were even akumatized against their will after attempting to resist the villain’s control. Yesterday's victim was no different.
Now being able to read the room more, it was easy for Marinette to pinpoint who she was looking for. Sitting in the at the furthest part of the room was a dark haired girl, different from the pale hue it was previously for a day. In her hands was a half eaten sandwich sitting in some loosened packaging with her family's bakery logo decorating the material.
Marinette couldn't help but smile.
“Hi! Enjoying your sandwich?”
The sudden greeting made the new student jump in her seat and look up in surprise like she had been downed by ice cold water. It was when she realized who she was talking to her, the girl began to look around nervously as if by reflex. “It's really g-good, yeah– Hi.” Her shocked expression turned into one of utter confusion when Marinette sat herself down beside her.
“I would hope so!” The pigtailed girl laughed. “I'm Marinette, what's yours? I mean what's your name– Ugh haha, sorry about that.” Although she fumbled over the words, Marinette was returned with a handshake after offering her hand for one.
The transfer student managed a polite but tight-lipped smile. “Odelle. But you probably already knew that...”
“If you're talking about seeing your name on the news, I uh– didn't see it yet actually.” Which w a s true! After detransforming yesterday, Marinette had hit the mattress of her bed and immediately fallen asleep yet somehow still managed to almost be late for school this morning. Marinette grinned back, but internally the gears in her mind where whirring fast. Perhaps Odelle was wondering about the promise she made? Did she already think that she would break it? “I'm uh– really sorry about what Hawkmoth did to you though, watching it all go down just made me want to punch him more!”
The new student immediately shook her head, her voice evident of her guilt over causing distress and damage. “I should be the one sorry for wrecking your house! Even after I did that, you still–” Odelle stopped herself, seemingly conflicted if she should continue or not.
Marinette followed quickly with her response to Odelle’s remorseful face, waving her hands hurriedly. “It's no big deal! Even my dad destroyed our house once as an akuma actuallyithinkmyhousegetsdestroyedalot but that's not the point, you wrecking my house is no reason for us not to be friends! I mean we don't have to be friends if you you don't want to hangout with me and the others but the offer’s up on the table an open invitation so if you feel like it you could always change your mind no pressure–!”
“Marinette?”
The familiar voice of her boyfr– ONLY PURELY PLATONIC BOY SPACE FRIEND made Marinette make an ‘’eep” sound and she quickly turned to see Adrien walking up to them. “Adrien? I thought you were eating with Alya and Nino!”
Adrien, happy to finally find the girl he was looking for, waved to the both of them sitting on the bench in front of their lockers. Seeing Odelle next to Marinette, it only confirmed his hunch from lunch before. “They told me to check on you, you aren't skipping lunch are you?”
Odelle’s eyes widened. “Were you looking for me instead of eating?”
“Oh! Hahaha– ,,,,,Guilty as charged? I was going to have a snack later!” Marinette sheepishly grinned at the two looking at her. Then she pouted sadly and crossed her arms with a defeated huff. “But by the time I got here, Odelle had already eaten before I could invite her. I was too l a t e–”
It was Adrien's turn to laugh. That pout, he had to admit to himself or not doing so was going to drive him nuts sooner or later, was terribly terribly cute. “No worries! We still have twenty minutes before lunch ends, what do you guys say?”
Appreciating the effort Adrien was putting in to help just like his kind self would made Marinette's heart melt. But when she turned to Odelle, the girl had looked away in discomfort. “Hey, it's alright! Don’t mind what other people may say, I’m sure Nino and Alya would like to get to know you too! They’re really laid-back when it comes to meeting new people.” Adrien nodded in agreement, backing up their everyday-Ladybug on a mission.
“Well,” the transfer student started to say, glancing at the two then letting her eyes roam to the side. With all the confidence she could muster, Odelle answered, “If you all wouldn’t mind me coming–”
Both vigorously shook their head in unison.
“Pffft– oh.” Odelle surprised herself by letting out a small giggle. Her hand hid her mouth but it was already too late. The boy and girl standing before her had a triumphant sparkle in their eyes that was extremely hard to say no to, especially after their generous offer. “Thank you, Marinette and?”
“I’m Adrien,” said the blond in response, feeling accomplished. Nothing like making new friends!
“Woohoo! Now that we’re all very well acquainted, let’s get some food cuz I am staaaarvinggggg. Let’s go let’s go!” Marinette clumsily pulled herself and then Odelle up to follow a laughing Adrien out the door. “I walked so many flight of stairs, I think I can eat three trays of food now.”
Adrien chuckled at the serious tone of the statement. “Then we better hurry or Kim will–”
“I am now hurrying much more.”
Walking back to the cafeteria in high spirits, Adrien wondered what their two friend’s faces would look like seeing that Marinette had convinced the new transfer student to join them just by using a double puppy dog eyes attack, a weakness the aspiring fashion designer had once confessed having to him before. “There’s cake today too soooo.”
“O n w a r d.”
Behind the both of them, Odelle watched quietly in content as Marinette pumped her fists in the air at the mention of the dessert then blush as Adrien laughed at her silly motions. Inwardly, she was too. How long has it been since she walked anywhere with friends?
At the sight of their happy faces, the girl’s heart melted.
