so i've been keeping up with TMP as it's airing, which has been fun, it's actually really nice to experience this kind of story weekly since i came into TMA late and listened up to the s4 finale in like, a month or two. i've been enjoying the new characters and statements, and while i was worried i'd have trouble actively listening (my attention span/executive functioning can be really variable when it comes to podcasts), it's been surprisingly easy for me to actually listen to each new ep the day it drops publicly
all this to say im enjoying the show! but i've found myself feeling increasingly frustrated with a couple things i keep seeing when it comes to discussions of it
to me, it seems... there's been a pervasive reluctance to take TMP as what it is. and i do understand that. it'd be stupid to pretend TMP doesn't exist exclusively because of TMA and that show's success, that it's a successor that was pitched as being similar. it's a story being written by the same people (plus guests), in the same universe (roughly), going for about the same tone and maybe themes.
i just feel like it's a bit of a shame, though, that so many folks seem unwilling not to carry TMA with them when they're engaging with TMP
i don't know where or when it was said, but i swear there was a comment made by jonny and/or alex about how TMP will have some commonality with TMA in terms of world-building, but also, people who listened to TMA first may find themselves theorizing in the wrong direction because we're judging things based off what is no longer concrete, reliable information; things are going to work differently in the world of TMP, and since we have preconceived notions on what is relevant or how things work, that's going to influence how we engage with information presented in TMP if we let it. and that's not even considering the fact that they've been explicit in conveying the idea that TMP was written so you can experience it fully without having listened to any of TMA at all!
i'm very much someone who tries to engage with media on its own terms, largely taking things at face value until i'm given reason to suspect otherwise. that's something i'm trying my best to still do with TMP, even though obviously, i've also listened to TMA and am basing some of my thoughts and personal theories on what we know from that
but that's what i mean to say i guess, it's something you have to actively choose to do. and it feels like, just based on what i've been seeing in fandom spaces, that a lot of people are having a bit of an odd time with TMP because of a reluctance to do that?
i think the easiest way to explain what i mean is to point to a general acceptance, already on the level of fanon it seems, to interpret the computer voices as Our Jon and Martin (+ Jonah/Elias, maybe). now obviously we have the actual real world reason why their voices are present in TMP, because of course jonny and alex were going to come back as voices in the show in some way. and i 100% agree it's a perfectly logical conclusion to then interpret their inclusion as being related to Jon and Martin somehow. i'm personally very into the theory that it is in no way them - not in any way that matters - but specifically their voices that have been stolen (by the Web?) as a means to help spread fears in other realities. but that's really not how i've been seeing people play with the concept? it seems largely 1:1. and again, i totally understand where people are coming from with that - especially when you consider how it can be a super fun concept for horror and angst, or even just the fact that folks want an excuse to carry their favorite characters into this new show and still play around with them. i promise i don't mean to bring this up as a means of making anyone feel bad or like, chastised for interpreting things a certain way and playing in the space!
it's the biggest example of what i mean though, and was a huge point of frustration for me when we were first being presented with TMP. it's not just that i don't want the voices to be Jon and Martin proper (i am very into their Ambiguous End, i believe it's best to leave that as a space for fans to play in); in all honesty, i think it's kind of a shame and maybe even a bit boring (im sorry!) to be engaging with TMP this way
and it's not just stuff like that - i've been seeing a fair amount of people expressing frustration and feeling disappointed with how TMP is hitting, but i mean, i feel like that's inevitable when you're going into it expecting More TMA? i saw at least one person basically say "ive been waiting for it to make me feel the way TMA made me feel, and it hasn't yet", and i really just feel like that's setting yourself up to be dissatisfied! beyond the fact that we're only 5 episodes in and the story has barely gotten a chance to happen yet, a huge element of this new show is that it's being approached as a largely collaborative effort, it seems, with lots of guests coming in to help shape the story and more writing and plotting influence that isn't jonny
obviously it's fine to not be super into that! undoubtedly it's a question of taste. but you do have to acknowledge that that's the case and adjust your expectations accordingly, or else you're not going to have a great time
i really like TMA, i had a great time with it, but even if TMP is a sequel to its parent podcast, it's not the same thing - and personally, i don't want it to be! i do hope that's a sentiment that is able to be more widely felt by some fans as we gain more distance from TMA while TMP is airing. i just think more people would be able to enjoy it that way, and come up with more interesting theories and interpretations of things! but those are really just my own personal thoughts

hey guys have my wild magnus protocol theory that stemmed from me just overanalyzing the little bits of content we have
i think lena is a homunculus.
(spoilers for the pilot and jonny + alex’s post pilot discussion under the cut)
basically this stems from. a lot of places w small amounts of information so some of this might be stretches. But
1. a lot of marketing around protocol mentions the theme of “what does it mean to be a person?” which. leads me to believe there’s gonna be a plot around a protag being Not Human but has the heart or whatever the fuck. standard pinnochio or wizard of oz story. sure youre not human but ur a person bc of xyz free will or whatever
2. lena’s behavior in the pilot is So odd and almost inhuman in its extremely dull corporate jargon way. she literally uses things like “you can file a complaint” or “here at the oiar we….” (advertiser shit) , in genuine conversation. she doesn’t leave the building, either and has a Generic office party.
im genuinely thinking bureaucracy and the weird eldritch stuff of the oiar is Literally all she knows, not that shes being manipulative and evil in the trailer like elias; she doesn’t or maybe cannot question the whole. asking sam about the eldritch trauma thing, something something cant understand human emotions and why that might be troubling.
also “people like chocolate cake.” that sounds weird and something someone with only base knowledge of humanity would say.
she’s described as “an odd one” by jonny and that we will “get her soon”. im under the full belief that shes the non-human character of the bunch thatll yknow. have the Real Boy plot
3. homunculus specifically comes from all the alchemy shit around protocol, and homunculi are some of the most famous alchemical creations in popular culture, and i think she’s not. an entity creation. lenas too much of an important character to just be like. tied to An Entity, as a main character extremely tied to the OIAR, that entity would have to be the basis of like the entire plot of protocol; which i doubt theyd do.
the eye is so important to archives because the themes of archives was the consequences of knowledge- the entire plot was engineered around the Eye as the Main Character Entity and the Eye was written to be that in turn, sorta similarly to how Griffindor is the Main Character House (TM) of HP with its themes of bravery. i doooont think the oiar is tied to the stranger or flesh or any other simulacrum creating entities.
all that to say i think lena is a different kind of artificial human, one that’s manmade rather than entity made yknow?
we get glances of the people above her in status, theres mentions of an ephemeral “he” in the pilot, so. heres what i think
the He in question is an alchemist whose in charge of the OIAR (and maybe other branches but lets focus w the oiar). He created Lena the homunculus to be the middle manager of the branch in his stead; “programming” her to be as dull and corporate as possible to keep the employees in line or whatever. something something shes got a plot wrestling with that and her inherent lack of persondom
EDIT: totally forgot this part
adding that the first statement’s plot was about an abomination of corpses given a humanlike shape and coming back wrong which is. exactly what frankenstein’s monster is, and frankenstein’s monster is considered a homunculus.
with the anglerfish’s importance to season 3 of archives i definitely think the Arthur monster will come up again in some form, but maybe instead of Actually being In Podcast maybe its a parallel to the main characters’ story in the same way that many s4 statements were used to give us more information on how jon is working through it all. the zombie statement when he just wakes up comes to mind especially. maybe it’s a hint and echo of what a Character in podcast (lena) is

I know there's been a few similar posts here already, but man, I saw something and now I'm annoyed.
I'm so so so so tired of a discussion surrounding character's genders, sexualities, the way they dress or look as if there was an actual canon version of them. (And FUCK - when did Tumblr cared about canon anyway??) Now, don't get me wrong. I adore long analysis of every single detail presented in TMA on those topics. But when it comes to hcs? Let people have nice things and relate to characters in the ways they want to. So many people use it as a way to cope with their own identities! It's a very important thing when enjoying media! Stop crushing their souls!
Just remember the one simple rule of - fanon is fanon, it's not written in stone and you can adjust it or even (I know, for some people it sounds impossible) enjoy multiple versions of it!!
The Martin I have in my head when I'm listening to TMA is completely different than the most popular fanon, but it doesn't matter - I still love the fluffy, comfy, cute boy (or any other gender people assign them) that people seem to settle on. I also imagine Tim in a severely different way than most, but guess what - I love the arts, comics, and animations with him done by other people.
It's like reading a book and then getting an adaptation. Not everything is how your mind's eye saw it, but it's still pretty cool to see it.
Also, let's be for fucking real, fandom IS the space for it. Don't waste the creativity of others to boost your own ego by arguing that your depiction is "the right version", just scroll past the content you don't like. It's quite literally not targeted towards you.
It's disappointing to see those discouraging posts, especially in this fandom that actually finally has its source in a creation made by people who care about diversity and treat everything with utmost respect. Alex wouldn't be happy about some sad fuck yelling at someone for drawing black!Jon or trans!Martin. Imagine he saw some shit like that.
tl;dr: don't be a dick, let people enjoy the characters the way they want to, imagine the disappointment on the faces of Alex and Jonny every time you try to waste your time on being an asshole
AGREE idc much what ppl do with fanon. I have preferences which is 100% fine but oh my god going after someone for not sharing that is so stupid and wrong - rosette
heavy agree because yeah . it's fanon . let people make what they want to make . - deceit

Watched the Khaos Reigns story line...
*SPOILERS*
It was ok.
I'm still bitter about how Bi-Han is written. I know he's supposed to be an egotistical asshole but making him evil right off the bat will always be annoying to me. It makes his transition to Noob Saibot seemed kind of a waste.
Buuuut I am glad Noob fought alongside Earthrealm during this story. He still ended up being bad, which again annoying. Like, why is he not allowed to redeem himself? Especially after literally being tortured to madness. I will say, his bickering with Kuai was hilarious. Probably to most "brother" moment ever between them.
Cyrax was adorable. Fuck the racists (who forget Cyrax was Black since Deadly Alliance) and woman haters, she was great. She looked so cute outside of her armor as well. Sektor was a bitch, so bless her for that. Uhm...I don't know how I feel about her relationship with Bi-Han. It feels forced like Kuai Liang and Harumi.
Speaking of which, still weirded out about Kuai as Scorpion. I think I just hate it now. It was interesting at first, but the way they make him kind of erase his Chinese heritage it...gross. And I just miss Grandmaster !Kuai Liang! Sub-Zero. I'm glad we saw Harumi fight and NOT DIE. Bless her. Hanzo must be screaming somewhere.
Military Jonny was fucking adorable. Emperor Rain was cute...and then he died. Empress Tanya was stunning. Punk rock Mileena and Kitana were hot. Hope they're skins. Punk rock Kuai Liang and Bi-Han were fucking hot. Need them in my life.
Over all...yeah. It was just ok. Better than what I expected but not that great.
Bi-Han and Kuai Liang being what they are right now is just making me sad and stupidly emotional.

remnants character recurrences and theories
Okay. I convinced my best friend to listen to remnants and she loves it just as much as I do. We just had a very long facetime call where we poured over the transcripts. I believe we have identified each character recurrence in the podcast so far. You can see these connections plus some theories below :) (I might be spelling some of the names wrong I'm very sorry if I am) (Might not be 100% in order either but it should make sense)
Benoit is Celine's son in episode 1 and in episode 4 he talks with and kisses Marcus.
Lord Du Perier is in episode 1, he is the person that Celine has a relationship with and we know that he is married at this time. It is mentioned that Du Perier is not his real name. In episode 7 we meet his daughter Amelie and he calls himself Teddy.
Sarah is the nanny in episode 2 of both Paige and Christopher. She is mentioned in episode 9 as being Paige and Jonny's nanny and as being assaulted by Christian, falling pregnant with his child.
Mr Jones is the Bevan family (Paige, Jonny, Maud and Christian)'s gardener and also seemingly the landlord of Annie and Sally as is mentioned in episodes 9 and 10.
Christian and Maud are the parents of Paige and Jonny. They are mentioned in episodes 2, 6 and 9. Christian is who Eliza, from episode 6, is in a relationship with. It is mentioned that he has a young wife, Maud and that the Glanville family is friendly with the Bevans. It is assumed that Christian is the father of Eliza's child, though in episode 9 Maud doubts that this is the case, saying that the son does not look like how Christian's children usually do. It is said that Pearl sent a letter claiming that Christian is the father and also that Eliza died in childbirth.
Edward Pocket is the adopted son of the Pocket's as is mentioned in episodes 9 and 10. In episode 10 Sally says that he died along with his parents; however, in episode 9 Annie meets him after coming back and he claims that Sally died saving him. We know that this is not truly Edward, rather it is someone impersonating him, because he does not have the eye colour that Annie remembers and he does not know that he is adopted. He takes over the law firm Cratchet and Pocket. Interestingly, he appears in episode 3 as the solicitor who gives Gerald Simmeon's will (the scream I scrumpt when we discovered that omg). It seems to be implied that Ted could be impersonating Edward because he would know about Victor and Sally as Edward does when he meets Annie in episode 10. However, he mentions Victor having a sister and Victor only ever mentioned a brother.
I strongly believe that whoever is impersonating Edward Pocket is connected to at least Annie's murder, indicating that he might be connected to the others as well.
Very interesting that in this episode it was revealed that A practically is a remnant himself. Does this mean that Sir’s insistence that A judge the remnants is more so that he can judge A and work out how to process him? Is all of this not actually about sorting the remnants at all and more about sorting A? I’m not sure.
Also I'm thinking the sentient dust might be like, the consciousness from discarded remnants. That’s a TRUE crackpot theory though.
The moths from the podcast cover being the moth-like letters of the apprentice written across whatever extreme amount of time is very interesting.
The music box is also very interesting in that it appeared both times A’s memory got wiped. I also mentally connect it with episode 6 beyond that, because the song it is playing is from Swan Lake and Eliza dreamed of being a ballet dancer. Which COULD mean NOTHING. If we get a remnant that is a music box I'll literally scream. Especially if it ends up being Eliza's.

@f4nd0m-fun here
So, I was on the ship Wiki, and I'm wondering what your Crane ships are?
I stumbled on Scriddler and TwoCrow, and I couldn't help but peek at TwoRiddle, so now I'm thinking about TwoScriddler, and oh no.
I barely know these chars and yet here I am.
Now combine this with John barely speaking with his fam and... you got Danny showing up on his doorstep one day, and Crane may have forgot to tell his buds about it, and you've got a small mess.
Personally, if I had to ship Harvey with someone, it's Gilda or Bruce (or both) (Unless it's Batman Forever version, then definitely TwoRiddle cause HAVE YOU SEEN THEM!?)
But honestly? This made me thinking... (Long ass rant ahead that may or may not make sense. This is written while being sleep deprived)
Jonny boy here ain't the only one who suffered abuse as a child. Both Harvey and Edward have as well. They both have Daddy Issues while Jonathan, depending on how you interpret him or which backstory you use, have granny issues + religious trauma or also Daddy Issues.
That being said, Harvey gives me the "this family ends with me" vibes, especially after he became Two-Face, and may be put off with Danny's presence for a while. He doesn't want to continue the cycle and become his dad. He'd likely would have liked, at the very least, to have been informed about the new addition to their family so he can... Prepare essentially/get used to the idea/plan how to avoid Danny. He's... For the lack of better words, cautious/careful around Danny, as to not accidentally trigger himself by accidentally hurting the kid. Does this make sense?
It'll take a while for Harvey to relax around Danny but for sure, he's gonna be very protective, if because he's Jonny's kid at first. He'll come to adore the kid and while not see him as a son but like... Oh, who's he and Harv kidding, that's his kid now and too hell with a coin, fuck with one of his then you'd get instant death penalty with him as the Executioner.
Harvey is gonna try and teach Danny law, specifically how to use loopholes against the system and evade arrests and such cause what else is gonna try to do to bond with Danny? Man's life had always revolved around law... Though... there are times where he'd go into this sort of story mode, recalling his experiences with Danny. He's soft and distant here but this is his way to fully open up, if that makes sense.
Harv, on the other hand? Teaching Danny how the criminal world works. Kid needs to learn how Gotham works. Can't have him die (er- turn fully ghosts? Yeah, he and Harvey don't understand Danny's halfa nature but they try and are supportive... They can't help but be reminded of themselves actually-) or Jonny's gonna be beyond pissed in a whole new level. Is actually rather strict, makes sure to put ground rules and boundaries with Danny compared to the rest of the parental unit that is Twoscriddler. Someone has to be the strict parent... How he and Harvey are considered the functional parent here is cause they actually practice self-care, well to an extent anyways, compared to his idiot lovers who would go days on end without eating, drinking, or sleeping, if the chance rises.
Harv, though rarely, would go into story mode as well to Danny, but in his perspective. There are many times he and Harvey hate each other but... They lived and went through the same life. Just differently. He mainly does this after something especially happened with Danny, like say, Danny nearly got shot...
Now, Edward on the other hand... Really depends on the version but in my opinion, he'd be indifferent with Danny at first, if a bit surprised. Jonny, with a kid? Now, isn't that interesting. Would definitely grow very fond of Danny very quickly, and if he learns that Danny's good with inventing and such, he is, for sure, gonna nurture those skills.
Eddie boy is gonna drag Danny to his workshop so they can bond over building shit. Also, VIDEO GAMES CAUSE YOU CAN NOT TELL ME OTHERWISE THAT EDDIE'S NOT A GAMER! Gets too competitive, too loud, just overall chaotic fun with Eddie also rambling about shit in the process. Just, the two are fucking gremlins and fueling each other's chaotic streak somehow cause while Eddie is an adult very full of himself, he acts too much like a child when he's relaxed and not trying to maintain his dignified image even though everyone has at least witness his childish streak at least once (this including his tantrums/meltdowns...)
The fun uncle/dad that managed to help Danny feel like a normal kid he wasn't able to be exactly due to living with mad scientists (who wanted to kill him later on even if they didn't know it was him). Eddie boy would also definitely help tutor Danny. Just that he may get impatient or teaches things too fast. Best that Jonny's there helping with tutoring so it's better paced and not going overboard.
But uh- yeah, it's gonna be a bit of mess when Harvey/Harv entered the shared apartment and see a random kid in there (who both resembles Jonny in some ways and also has the right coloration to be considered Wayne bait AND OH BOY-) huddled in blankets. Eddie would likely just walk past Danny, and after a few moments, walks backwards and stare at Danny, processing, before getting Jonny or Harvey, before trying to maybe interrogate? Depends if he slept or was hyperfocused on a project in his workshop.
[Also, @f4nd0m-fun, I swear, you've been fueling my need to create more Uncle Scarecrow content- DO YOU KNOW HOW HYPER AND EXCITED YOU MADE WHEN YOU @ ME!? Well, I think you're gonna see it when I do the reblogs... Just- XD, I'm having too much fun today/last night/lately (wtf is time anymore)]

TMAGP 9 Thoughts: Name Dropping
This one was a big one. I was hoping some of this would happen later if only for my own amusement. Of all the episodes thus far I think there might be have the most foundational elements to the wider narrative in it.
Spoilers for episode 9 below the cut.
We'll start at the start although I don't have much to say about this pre-incident banter. It's mostly stuff that I think is for humour rather than narrative relevance. Such as the questions have a classic 7 point scale, but instead of neutral in the middle neutral is an extreme and trauma is the other one. Dead creatures, blood transfusions, and why? are all similar there. It's fun dialogue but I don't think there is much to say beyond that.
The case itself is a really great one. Might be my favourite so far. It's a Magnus Institute statement, opens with some interesting titbits, is TTRPG related, has a fun hook, and a satisfying conclusion. Hard to fault it anywhere.
So lets get to the fun stuff. The Magnus Institute framing isn't really of interest to me right now. This isn't anything particularly unexpected and doesn't give us any new information about the Institute itself but does hint at some of their methodology. The statement is part of artefact's assessment, and preceding the statement itself the artefact is given some viability ratings. No viability as subject, low as agent, and medium as catalyst. I've seen some people interpreting this as being about the statement giver but as this is the "Statement and Research assessment for artefact CD137" I think that's a misinterpretation. Especially since this post-statement and the statement giver dies. Those terms aren't explained here but if I had to take a stab at it I think subject is probably about further research, agent is it's utility as a weapon, and catalyst is likely related to rituals or avatars. The recommendation is a referral to "referral to Catalytics for Enrichment applicability assessment. "Enrichment" here could be a euphemism for turning someone into an avatar of sorts, or be a little more literal as an actual catalyst for some sort of experiment or ritual. I think the ritual idea is maybe more on the right lines as alchemy is a large motif of this series.
There isn't much to say about the statement itself. The dice could be the same ones mentioned in Episode 4: Taking Notes. That episode wasn't written by Jonny or Alex, while this one was, but I feel that sort of detail is something they'd feel comfortable adding in. Although I think it's more likely that the old man himself was part of the direction.
"Externals Liaison" being "gofer" so far is pretty great, and Nigel Dickerson is a pretty spot on name for that sort of British TV personality. Can't wait to hear about how they eat children.
Alice still being into Sam and jelly of Celia is cute, and it's great to see more of Teddy. I'm pretty sure he's going to play a larger role in all of this than it seems so far. Going to dig through the ruins of the Magnus Institute might also mean that episode 10 will be a no-incident episode too. Those things usually happened at the start and end of seasons for TMA but it seems pretty appropriate for TMP right now.
Overall, great episode.
Bonzo!Bonzo!!Bonzo!!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting with this post I'm going to include a link to my Google sheet containing all the current cases, their CAT#'s, R#'s, DPHW's, etc. It contains about as much information on each as I think is reasonable, including who narrates it, a link to its episode, and any other relevant notes, as well as headers for incidents we didn't hear. Additionally it also contains the Klaus sheet (German and English) and links to it when a incident matches. It will be updated each episode after the episode is publicly available.
Incident/CAT#R#DPHW Master Sheet
DPHW Theory: 3354 is fairly standard for this sort of thing, I think. I expected H to be a little higher in general but not by a lot. The only very high score we've seen for H involved a lot of compulsion, and the higher scores are harder to escape from than this one seems to be.
Splitting CAT# and R# theories into two separate things now. As you may or may not have seen I wrote a fairly extensive theory on what I think R# means so it makes no real sense to group them.
CAT# Theory: CAT3 is a nice new data point. Not many CAT3's so hopefully this will help elucidate that. But as of yet I don't have a solid theory about how that could work. The other CAT3's were Transformation (Eyes) -/- Trespass, and Transformation (Full) -/- Dysmorphic which have the obvious overlap of transformation but that doesn't have a lot of overlap with Dice (Bone) -/- Fate particularly. There is the subsection of bone here which you could say is linked to the more physical manifestations of those two incidents but the Tria Prima idea I talked about here isn't something I think holds up well. So if CAT3 is something along the lines of the physical I don't think it'll be quite like that.
R# Theory: RB isn't particularly interesting in a general sense. It supports my theory reasonably well and so isn't too surprising. Which means there is little to talk about there. However, I do think it's a really good nail in the coffin for some of my other ideas. Which is encouraging now that I'm thinking about it in very different terms.
Header talk: Dice (Bone) -/- Fate is somewhat interesting. Dice (Bone) is incredibly specific in a way that bothers me. So far sections have been reasonably broad. A violin ends up in Collection, other objects in Agglomeration, Architecture deals with seemingly all buildings, but this section is just for dice? I can't be the only one that thinks that's far more specific than what we've seen before. It's also another very strange crosslink. I'm still not entirely sure what to make of those. I may have mentioned briefly that my current framework for crosslinks is viewing them as vectors. i.e. they're the way in which the supernatural is able to manifest. That holds up with Fate but it's still a bit strange in general terms.

Writing Interview Tag Game!
You said it was open tag @dr-demi-bee so yoink!
When did you start writing?
I've always written since I was a kid. I remember writing a self insert Jonny Quest fic of about 100 words when I was really young. Couldn't tell you what happened it in but I know I kept it hidden because there was kissing involved.
youtube
Then I remember being about 11 and writing a fic of a girl who lived with her two step parents (Guess whose parents hadn't got divorced by that point so they didn't understand how that worked). There was so much angst and TV soap drama I got asked if everything was okay at home. But serious writing wasn't under Feb this year with the BG3 obsession. I don't have a fancy literature degree; I don't have analysis skills of Shakespeare and other fancy authors. I'm just a muppet with a keyboard.
Are there different themes or genres you enjoy reading than what you write?
I love reading sci-fi, especially if its dystopian, Children of Men is one of my favourite books, as are a lot of works by Philip K. Dick, but I've never tried writing sci-fi before and don't really plan to. I also enjoy reading some smut (within reason) but really dislike writing it. I will happily give you a nondescript non/con fic over an explicit love fucking. I've done it, you've all seen it and some even liked it, but my smut writing days are very much on hold right now.
Is there a writer you want to emulate or get compared to often?
I've never been compared to anyone else. Do we normally get compared, is that a thing? I'm curious who I would be compared to now... As for emulation, I don't really want to. My writing is my own, and it conveys who I am as a person. If I were emulating someone else, would I not just be a cheap copy of them? (Possibly I'm seeing emulation in the wrong terms, blame the illiteracy)
Can you tell me a bit about your writing space?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is it currently. Basic I know, but I'm not one for clutter on my desk otherwise I get distracted easily. I share the room with my kid who has her PC next to me, normally playing Minecraft or nattering away, so I get pulled away plenty. The troll has been with me since 2005 and sat on my desk in various offices across the UK and Ireland, now helping me to write with its words of wisdom. (It doesn't really but maybe I can claim it's a beta reader or something.)
What's your most effective way to muster up a muse?
Spite! Yes, I know this sounds insane and petty and all the other negative words but fucking hell is spite one hell of a muse. One of my fics I wrote very long ago was based of a fanfic I read that just got under my skin. The subject had been taken and turned into this fluffy, romance thing and I was so fucking bitter and annoyed at how little the person had clearly researched into the topic. I went and wrote my fic including the reality of it all and it felt so cathartic to do so. (This is not the way to write fics, I'm just a terrible person) Otherwise, walking, daydreaming, regular tropes you like. Browsing the tags on Ao3 and seeing what strikes your fancy. That's where the hate sex fic came from.
Are there any recurring themes in your writing? Do they surprise you?
Control is a big theme that I find creeps in. Whether it be Gale and smut and his self control, or the non/con fics that seem to slip in. Then there is Nana and her past, and the PPD fic, and of course the S/H fic. Yeah control is the big one. Does it surpise me? Not Really. Control is a topic I've tried to explain many a time to a therapist only to be misunderstood so I think I use my writing a lot to get my thoughts on it out into the open.
What is your reason for writing?
More productive daydreaming. If I could lie in a room all day or walk around in a daydream I would, but unfortunatly the world seems to be insisting that I embrace reality, and so writing is the compromise. I also genuinely do enjoy it but could not explain to you why.
Is there any specific comment or type of comment you find particularly motivating?
Motivating? I'm not sure... I like comments, I like validation like anyone else but they fill that void, they don't necessarily motivate me. When I finished my bachelor paper we had to do an oral exam to back it up, and the exam censor was a professor of literature. Her feedback to my writing was that it was easy to understand and a pleasure to read. That comment stuck with me and has definitely motivated me to stick with my style. I don't like gatekeeping behind faux intellect. So possibly that comment?
How do you want to be thought about by your readers?
I AM A GOD! I don't know really. I guess just being thought about in general is enough. I've always been sort of out of sight, out of mind in life. Like Gale, I've always believed myself to be very much 'if I'm not needed then I'm not wanted' - So just being remembered is enough. (Gods, that sounds so fucking sad now that I think about it.)
Under the surface, I'm pretty sure I'm worthless if I can't be of service
What do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer?
Hopefully it's just ease of understanding. Like I know we all want these literary masterpieces that will change the world or provide some sort of beauty that bring people to tears, but I just want to tell stories and make people feel stuff other than confusion. And I like to think I manage that. So yeah, that's my strength.
How do you feel about your own writing?
Hmmm.... I am my own worst critic in every single aspect of my life. It will never been good enough (see how I've got Gale's angst down so well???). I like my writing, I like flow and repetition. I like how it covers topics I want to read about and isn't just being produced to be produced like I've seen some bigger writers do (they're not on Tumblr, don't worry before you all start wondering 'is it me?'.) And I like how it's not all the same stuff. I have quite a lot of variety of varying standards. Some I really like, others I sigh at and wonder how I'd do them differently.
---- Anyway, do I tag this for others or open tag it again. I just like talking and am trying to distract myself from the inevitable chapter I need to write today.

Your opinion on all the side characters? Or what you like or dislike in each of them?
Thanks for the ask, and it's a long one! Nice for a change. Let's see...
- Jonny 2x4 - one of the characters I'm guilty of neglecting... But I think he's a fun, quirky kid (even when he's supposed to be annoying). I remember when I first watched Dear Ed (where he got in a fight with Plank) the scene at the playground made me sad for him. It seems to me there's not much Jonny fanart here on tumblr compared to how Plank and him are considered icons of the show elsewhere. That's probably what makes some like me less interested in the character... I hardly react to pics of real Plank IRL, sorry Plank fans 😅
- Sarah - she's fun... c'mon! Again, non-tumblr fans are on a different planet, the hate boners people have for a 6-7(?) year-old character are entertaining... for a while. I love that she's actually intimidating and strong, she ain't just bark and no bite, another less slapstick-focused show would have handled her differently. A lot of people cheer for the scene where Ed shouts at her in Little Ed Blue, cause they want to see her get "just desserts", but I never care about that, I like her for the rabid little princess she is lol. I also like people's headcanons of her treating her brother better as she grows up, and hopefully escaping the unhealthy favoritism from her parents.
- Jimmy -  even more than Sarah, the hate he sometimes gets is really tedious to me... he's always entertaining, especially his "theatre kid" moments, and his squeaky voice borders on "dog frequencies" sometimes haha. The only thing I've found slightly odd is maybe his flaws and negative traits (spoiled, Sarah always has his back, secretly a cunning little bastard) are sometimes given a free pass just because he's queer-coded, maybe? This only ever bothered me exclusively in relation to someone like Kevin being written off instead, but this my own bias, just a lighthearted observation (for real tho please tell me if this is a dumb reasoning)
- Nazz - she's the nicest and most well-adjusted "normal" kid around (if you ask me kevin ain't normal haha), but had an unfortunate starting point of "girl all the boys have a crush on", which she was never developed out of, or at least not nearly enough as she should have been. I've read something about the writers struggling to figure out what to do with her, maybe? Can't remember. Some people point out her hidden intelligence, but I think it would also be interesting to explore her negative traits, mainly I see her as slightly two-faced/flighty when it comes to how she interacts with the Eds.
Kevin - oh boy, my sense of this character is probably so skewed... The one character I used to get upset and annoyed about like an idiot, in regards to other people's takes and such, sometimes I resent the fact I ever got fixated on the character... why??? Help 🤣 I guess what torments me is that the viewer was never really meant to like him or find him interesting in any way? and doing otherwise is just a case of "fandom brainrot", I dunno what others think 😵‍💫 His jerk/bully role is definitely handled in more interesting ways than other shows would, there's enough meat to the character I guess it's possible to be invested in headcanons/developments. (or so I convince myself...)
Without getting too rambling, let's just say I love him as much as I'd find it entertaining to see him get incinerated by a flamethrower lmao.
Rolf - my other favorite ofc, and a much more pleasant one lol. Nothing embarrassing about loving this character, for sure. In fact I'm probably guilty of not seeing his flaws, but I guess he can be arrogant, and violent/gross with his traditions, when he could learn to be lenient considering how he's treated with a fair amount of tolerance by the cul-de-sac. But in the end he's just a kid trying to get used to a new land and culture.
Kanker sisters - I never thought much about Lee but my eyes have been opened by the implication that being the oldest one in a tough family/social background kinda excuses a lot of her behavior... But others can analyse this better than me.
I think Marie is the unfortunate middle sister who maybe had the least distinct personality? (beyond her aesthetic hinting at her being a punk chick), thankfully she's got plenty fans (btw her being underdeveloped is more food for thought for marie x nazz/nazzarie 👀...). I haven't got much to say unfortunately, other than my first eene ship was eddmarie exactly because of Marie development.
I'm guilty of seeing May as the most innocent one (certainly thanks to that bit where she cries in Hanky Panky Hullabaloo) and the only Kanker I'm keen on shipping with an Ed (the Ed).
Bro? - well... He serves his purpose haha. And he's got an interesting aesthetic. I do like people being invested in the character and even liking him or imagining a more redemptive interpretation of him. Fans have been able to like much more monstrous characters in fiction, being a Bro fan is no big deal... "I can fix him" sure go ahead! You're a saint 🤣

Hello, I love your blog. An unpopular opinion: plenty of people says Ed is the most pure, innocent on the Eds, and characters overall, but nah. For me, he can be as much as a dick as Edd and Eddy are in occasions. There the moments where he laughs at Eddy and puts a diaper on his tongue (To Sir with Ed), exposing his zit (X Marks an Ed), or laughing and mocking his middle name (Your Ed Here). As for Double D, there even moments where he mocks him, just like in the aforementioned Your Ed Here (''Find your Hamburgers yet, Wimpy?'' ''Yeah, that you stink at this game, Double D'', ''Ah, kitty-cat go meow?''). And nah, I don't believe Ed is ''just too stupid to know when he's being a jerk or acting up'', it's pretty much agreed he's smarter than he looks and much more conscious of his surroudings- for me he's genuinely being a jerk for his own ways in these moments. What you say?
Ps: Aditionally, Ed seems to LOVE any oportunity to call the others Eds idiots (''That is STUPID, Double D.'' ''Even I am not that dumb, Double D'').
Thanks! And thank you for reaching out! I appreciate all the thought you put into your question.
You’ve made some really valid points, and I agree that I think folks are quick to forgive and forget certain characters for bad behavior over others. I find Ed and Edd are forgiven for many sins while Eddy gets dragged. They are all bad in their own ways haha
My perspective is that every kid on the show has their jerk moments, including Ed, but he’s not the worst perpetrator. I think Kevin is most guilty of outright bullying (Your Ed Here and Smile for the Ed) vs your average kids just being sort of shitty and mean and catty. I honestly like when Ed make snide sassy remarks to his friends. They sure aren’t afraid to call him an idiot or an oaf to his face so I think they sometimes deserve a taste of their own medicine. I’m all for the playful jabs.
Ed’s moments of cruelty get dismissed because the audience pegs him as ignorant to the intent of his actions: he’s not trying to be mean, just misguided or oblivious. Lack of forethought certainly doesn’t excuse the behavior or it’s impact on his friends - I think X Marks the Ed is a good example of where Ed is oblivious to Eddy’s embarrassment and he is egged on by Jonny and the other kids to embarrass him further. I find this to be entirely unsurprising kid behavior. The times when Ed is his meanest is when he thinks or misconstrues the situation to be FUNNY, and usually that is coming from someone else (other bullies) or I think rubs off from things Eddy does (being influenced by his Big Bro).
Ive talked about this before but I’m not a big fan of Ed’s characterization in the later seasons and movie. I think all the characters become especially cruel to one another during season 4 and early season 5, Ed included. One of my least fav Ed moments is the end of Tight End Ed: Eddy literally being gagged and tied to the Lemon Brook Lumper bus is so disturbing and made so much worse by Edd’s appropriately concerned reaction and then Ed’s total obliviousness to his friend’s distress. To be concise: he’s just an idiot without a conscience vs like what you said I think there was a time in the earlier seasons when his brain worked a little more. And also this isn’t the same Ed from Once Upon an Ed that saw himself as the hero that saves his friends from mutant Kankers. It’s a regression that I don’t particularly like.
I guess at the end of the day I do think that I find Ed to still exhibit more good intent than bad, and I think he is written as ignorant rather than malicious (even when I don’t agree on that gag being overused like it is - it does start to make him seem overly cruel). I still love Ed despite some of those disappointing moments.

A Sanctuary for Burning Hearts(big papa 10)
I had just gotten back from a run and decided to stop by the Clubhouse to check up on things. I had been out of Charming the past three days, and I left Tig in charge while I was gone. No big deal, I took care of everything before I left; all he had to do was make sure the place didn’t burn down until I got back. There was a party going on when I walked in, and amidst the chaos, a solitary pen perched on the edge of the bar caught my eye.
“Tiggy, did we get a beer shipment today?” I picked the pen up to look for a company name.
“I don’t think so, why?”
A sickening wave washed over me, and I felt the color drain from my skin. “Everyone out, now!” I shouted. One good thing about being VP is when you yell, everyone listens. It was a matter of seconds until the place emptied out.
“What’s going on?” Tig shot up from the barstool he was sitting on.
“Where’s Amber?” I grabbed the collar of his shirt.
“Dorm room,” Tig put his hands up like he was expecting me to hit him— leave it to Tig to actually let me if need be. Not this time, Tiggy.
“Amber, shit!” I yelled, bolting down the hallway. I burst through the door and saw her sleeping on the bed. She wasn’t supposed to be here when I was out of town. Not that she wasn’t allowed, but I run with bikers, and bikers aren’t the most trustworthy people. Not that any of SAMCRO would try anything, but you never know who we’re entertaining, how much alcohol they had, or what kind of drugs they’re on. Amber is my responsibility, and no one else’s, especially at the Clubhouse. Even so, most of the guys, especially Juice, Ope, and Tig, would break a few skulls for her if need be. Even so, I didn’t go out of my way to put any of them in that situation, at least not often.
“What the hell is going on, Jax?” she squealed as I slung her over my shoulder. “My chair! Don’t forget my—”
“No time!” my voice boomed off the walls. For a moment, I sounded like Clay when he was starting to lose his shit. Fuckin’ Clay— I’ll get to that in a minute. “Keep your eyes closed!”
“Jax?” I could hear the worry in her voice. I rushed through the Clubhouse like a coked-up bull in a China shop. I stepped out of the front doors and saw everyone gathering in the parking lot. I took a few more steps before our biker sanctuary exploded behind me. I saw the orange light from the burst reflect off the buildings in front of me, followed by a warm sensation. The gust from the explosion threw me into the air, but I was able to twist myself before landing, ensuring that I broke Amber’s fall with my body. We all watched as the Clubhouse went up in flames. I don’t know what happened while I was gone, but something told me this had Clay’s name written all over it. Oh, and guess who was on day three of their five-day stay in Belfast? That’s right, Mr. President himself, Clay Morrow.
The following morning, I had to go down to the burnt mess of a Clubhouse and talk to the fire chief. After that, the boys in blue stopped by and took some statements— but this wasn’t a Jonny Law matter, so they were basically just tickin’ boxes like good little bureaucrats. When I got back home, Amber was awake and packing a duffle bag. “Win a cruise or something?”
“Packing to leave. I’m doing what I’m told as an old lady,” she hissed.
Yeah, I deserved that smartass comeback. I tore into her on our way home last night, going as far as cursing her out for being at the Clubhouse instead of home. Not only was she there, but she fell asleep in the dorm during a SAMCRO party. I yelled and yelled, and she just took it. I told her that he needed to fall in line, pack a bag, and head to New York until things cooled down a bit. It wasn’t the impromptu NY trip that was the problem, but more in my delivery of how I suggested it.
“Jackson, I mean, really, what the hell?” she seethed.
Yeah, she’s still mad. She only calls me that when she’s furious. “I’m sorry, darlin’. Clay just has me lookin’ over my shoulder right now, and I admit I’m not thinking too clearly.”
“Has his greed really gotten that bad?” she stopped what she was doing and stared at me, waiting for an answer.
I sat on the bed in silence, unable to muster a response, just meeting her gaze.
“People could have died. It’s a damn good thing Donna and the kids weren’t there,” Amber took a deep breath, thoughts about what could have been trickled through her head.
“I know,” I murmured. There was no disputing that. “It’s a damn good thing nobody did die, too.”
“This time! Something’s gotta change, Jax. The Club, or us. Because there’s no way in hell I’m raising our kids in this violence. This wasn’t the dream we had all those years ago. The Club, yes, but not like this.”
Why did I get the sinking feeling that I was losing her? If it came down to it, I’d choose her every damn time.
With that, Amber rolled out of the room, bag in her lap, and into a taxi bound for Mary’s. I lit a cigarette and poured myself a glass of Scotch. I took a swig and sat on the bed, staring at my kutte slung over the chair. One thing was certain: I had a huge decision to make.
Amber’s POV
So, it’s been a few days since I’ve been crashing at Mary’s. I packed a bag and hightailed it out, Charming like Jax commanded. What a good little housewife I am; too bad that cocky piece of shit is too full of himself to notice. I was planning on getting a hotel, but Mary wouldn’t hear of it. I knew she would insist that I stay with her because we’re so alike, and it’s precisely what I would do in this situation.
“You sure you’re really at your wits’ end?” she asked, handing me another beer.
“I’m sure. You know what— do you think my old place is still up for rent?”
“Wow. It’s that serious, huh?”
“Absolutely, Mary!” I scoffed, “If Jax were a few minutes later than he was, my ashes would be spread across Charming right now.”
“Alright, fine. So what, do you think you could get your old job back?” Mary cracked open a beer of her own and sat down at the table.
“I left a message for my old boss, I told him he can call me here. I hope that’s okay,” I sipped my frosty beverage.
“You’re really serious? Throwing the Cali life all away, huh? No more masquerading around as the King and Queen of Charming?” Mary chuckled. “Never thought I’d hear that out of you.”
“Ha ha,” I rolled my eyes. “I’m dead serious. The violence has spiraled out of control. I mean, it’s always been rough, but I mean, come on. And if I’m going to dance with the devil and almost meet my maker, I sure as shit don’t want to be catching holy hell from my husband because he can’t articulate his words in the face of danger. Whoever set that bomb didn’t care who they killed. Hell, half the Sons weren’t even there— there were a bunch of crow eaters, hangarounds, and some nomads—”
“I’m not even going to pretend I know what any of that bike slang is,” Mary chugged half her beer and slammed it down on the table. “But when it comes to danger, Jax is usually Mister Joe Cool.”
“Yeah, I guess. I kid you not; it’s been a solid two months since he’s come home without blood on his clothes. Keeping that kind of stuff pent up takes its toll on a man,” I confided. “And Club rules say I’m not allowed to ask why. Sometimes, I try to inquire anyway, just to get hit with the ‘I’m better off not knowing’ quip.”
“You’d seriously leave Teller?” Mary raised an eyebrow.
I paused, pondering the question. Would I? No, deep down, I didn’t want to. But my safety was important to me, and if it meant dragging him back with me, I would. It was something I swore I’d never do — make him choose between me and the Club. But this was a different time, a different Club than the one that we rode for years ago.
Out of nowhere, a red bird flitted into view, perching itself on a nearby tree branch. I couldn’t help but smile to myself as we sat in the kitchen, my decision weighed heavily on my mind.
Jax’s POV
I knocked on Mary’s front door, the chaos of recent days finally subsiding enough for me to make the trip to New York and see if I still had a wife waiting for me.
“Hey there, Jackson,” Mary greeted me with a smile as she answered the door.
“Is she here?” I asked anxiously, bracing myself for the fallout.
Mary nodded.
“How much trouble am I in?”
“A lot,” Mary frowned. “I don’t know if trouble is the word I would use, though, but you definitely have some baggage to work through, that’s for sure.”
“Amber, Look who the cat dragged in,” Mary announced as we entered the kitchen. “It’s the piece of shit.”
“Whoa,” I reared back. “What’s with the name-calling?”
“Oh, sorry— that’s been your nickname the past few days,” Mary winked at me. I knew she was just breaking the tension the only way she knew how, with her sarcastic assertivieness.
“Hey, Amber,” I greeted her with a smile.
“I’ll leave you guys to it. I’m gonna take Lady for a walk. Beer’s in the fridge. If you drink it all, Teller, you owe me a case,” Mary said, glancing down at her dog before disappearing out the door.
“I’m sorry,” I began, taking a seat at the table. “I should never have yelled at you, especially like that.”
“You’re right; you shouldn’t,” Amber smirked. We had a little conversation and about thirty minutes later, Mary had returned with some subs.
We sat down to a nice dinner, catching up with Mary as we ate. After a few more minutes of conversation, we made our excuses and headed back to the hotel I had booked earlier. Mary offered for us both to stay at her place, but the apartment was already a little tight and I didn’t want to impose. Plus, it’s been a few days since I’ve spent any time with my wife, so I was looking for something a little more intimate.
“I’m sorry,” I murmured, nuzzling my face into Amber’s bare neck.
“I know, that’s what makes this so hard,” she admitted softly. “Jax, what are we gonna do?”
“I’m ready to pack up and drag you back to Charming with me,”  I said sternly. She chuckled at the remark, but her eyes were still full of doubt.
“I mean, this is a deal-breaker for me, and that’s incredibly upsetting. I told myself years ago I’d never make you choose,” I confessed. I could feel the weight of my allegiance to the Club pulling against my allegiance to my marriage.
“Well, back then, the Club wasn’t as cutthroat as it is now. We didn’t have as much to worry about. A few stray bullets here and there, I mean, I get it— you’re a biker in a big biker gang, but Jax— they blew up the Clubhouse and half the garage. If you weren’t—”
“I know baby, I—”
“Just listen! If you weren’t there, the bodycount would have been over two dozen. And only seven Sons. Whoever did that wasn’t trying to kill you; they were trying to hurt you by killing your friends and family!”
“You’re not wrong,” I agreed with everything she was saying. “This isn’t one of those pass-the-blame moments, but everything that’s happened, all the added violence— Clay’s been dabbling in something, and I have no idea what.”
“I mean, can’t Bobby or hell, Piney, talk some sense into the old man?” Amber suggested.
“They tried, apparently. But Clay just won’t listen. Piney even threatened him with some philosophical ‘what ifs’, but that didn’t do the trick either.”
“That could have been your Mom in there, Jax. They could have killed Gemma—”
“They could have killed you,” I took her hand. “Please don’t leave me,” I whispered, kissing her bare shoulder tenderly.
“I’m not,” she whispered back. “But something’s gotta be done, babe. I’d like to start trying for a family soon.”
“Oh, really? Well, in that case, may I suggest some practice?” I smirked, glancing down at our entwined bodies.
“Maybe,” she smirked back, running her finger over my cheek.
“I went to the doctor a few weeks ago. I know my disability is not genetic, but I wasn’t sure if it would take me a little longer to get pregnant. And my doctor said no. All things considered, I’m in pretty good health. He said that anytime I wanted to stop taking the pill, we’re good to go.”
“So... have you?” I asked, curiosity burning in my chest.
“Have I what?”
“Stopped taking the pill?”
“No, I wouldn’t do that without talking to you first. What kind of croweater do you take me for, Jackson Teller?”
“My apologies,” Jax blushed, “you know how the culture is.”
“Yeah, alright,” I flicked his nipple. “Anyway, I had a little plan... Have a nice dinner, a movie maybe, then talk about it. And see what happened from there,” she chuckled, pressing a kiss to my shoulder.
“Well, I would say once everything calms down, because you’re right, trying to have a baby now would be...”
“Stupid?”
“I was going to say less than ideal,” I admitted, “but stupid works.”
“Are you ready for a little Teller running around?” she giggled.
“Ain’t nobody ready for that, darlin’.”

Note
don’t be shy tell us your favorite for each thing :D (in regards to your last ask)
nnaaa thank you! i did not know if anyone wanted me. to elaborate 💀 this may be very long ☺️☺️
Design
I really enjoy the design of the entire cast in general. i like how much longer their torsos are than their legs. if you could not tell, the show’s artstyle has greatly impacted my own. like hey! maybe! the eye can come off the head, and every possible place on the clothing can be filled with wrinkles and folds and wobbles! as for my favorite character designs, i would say i think the main trio has incredibly designs in regards of reflecting their character. Eddy’s really sticks out to me because he is so ugly and chewy. double d is my favorite to draw but I just love Ed’s design— specifically, how his head connects to his thinner than expected torso and lanky arms— and i need. to draw him more. I think at the moment my favorite character to draw is nazz but i have been doodling a lot of jonny recently. is fun to play around with his massive head (i also adore how that is a consistent gag/character trait!) I think nazz (especially in later seasons,) Kevin, and Edd have my favorite head shapes. eddy’s is pleasant because it moves nicely to his mouth, and May’s and Jonny are always rounder than i recall them being. i like nazz’s design so much because of her hair, lips, and body/clothes shape. I love her baggy pants and how the artists cannot keep a consistent length for her shirt(s)! i also enjoy Rolf’s design, because he does not stick out too much upon a quick glance. but he has smaller eyes, he is taller, and has much bigger feet compared to the rest of the cast! one of my favorite aspects of the show’s character design is how Ed and Sarah’s physical relation is depicted. they look very different, but i love how similar their necks and chins are. a thing to remember is that Sarah does not have much more chin than Ed. the kankers designs work very well, I think. may is. my favorite, but i always loved the way the swirls are done on lee’s head. i would like to say my favorite designs are Edd and Nazz.
Humor and stuff 😁
I think Eddy is actually. hysterical. like even besides one liners just the way he acts kills me. i do take him seriously as a character but seeing him go batshit insane is very pleasant to me and it makes me laugh. Ed and Edd of course are also very funny, I love when Edd says something under his breath or just snaps, and I think most people agree that Ed is consistently very funny. other than the eds, i actually find both Lee and Sarah to be very funny— unintentionally. i don’t think either characters are written for many gags (they definitely have several, but compare them to say. rolf or ed,) but i find them hilarious. i think Sarah is at her best when she is not screaming of course, and i love it when she expresses other emotions we do not regularly see her express. i am. thinking of a specific scene, I cannot remember the episode or context, but rather than shouting at ed for being stupid, she says so very seriously “ed, you’re scaring me.” maybe it is just me, but I love these moments. as for Lee, i just love her voice and how comically evil she is. all in all, Eddy takes my top spot!
personality
most of the cast has seriously grown on me. for this segment! like most, when I first began getting into the series, I thought ed was funny, edd was polite, and eddy was an asshole. of course now I understand and appreciate the characters for all of their traits. the first character that actually got me to get into the show was Edd (not a shock at all) I used to play on the gameboy advanced a lot as a kid, very pleasant, and my favorite was ed edd n eddy, the misadventures. it looks a bit different than how. you would imagine the game, as it was 2D and pixelated. my favorite character to play as was Edd, as he was the most comfortable to manuever (eddy was too short and Ed’s posture made him feel unexplainably slower and heavier!) i had no clue the game was from a show, and about a year ago i suppose I got very curious as to who these characters were. Edd was immediately my favorite, even if he was nothing like I thought he would be based off the game (I thought he was. the cool chill guy. the first clip i saw of him from the show was him going bananas.) i think. at the moment, my favorite personalities are Edd, Eddy, and May. however, all characters have grown on me and there is not one I truly dislike.
relatability
I think if i would favor any character based on how similar they are to me, and how much I can connect to their situations and traits, it would have to be rolf. I usually think of myself more as ed because i am fairly artistic and not incredibly smart, but rolf is very similar to me. I grew up as a foreigner in my small town as well, and I know i probably confused and freaked out many other children at the time. i think i still can talk in a very silly way, but when i was younger i talked a bit like a real life rolf. my legs were hairier than the other kids, i had an odd hybrid accent, and spent most of my time working. my friends despised my cultures food 🤗💧💧 as a kid I didn’t think much of him, but. now I really enjoy him. I find edd very relatable as well, but that may be because he is a very easy character to project onto.
potential
do not get. me started! i have become so infatuated with alternate universes, highschool and adulthood ideas, and headcannons for these characters. for potential, I am referring to how much I like to expand upon these characters based off their rarely displayed qualities, homelife, and more. the top spot for this one goes to the kankers sisters. there is nothing I like to indulge in more than the three’s dynamic with one another and what parts of them we rarely see. my favorite episodes are those where they are forced out of their usual role of the eds tormentors. i adore possible explanations for characters and hypotheses of their futures. edd is another character i took and melted to my liking. as some of you may know, i am an avid enjoyer. of the idea that Edd is transfem. as for the other characters, all of them are so strongly written there is so many places to take them. this is why i am so in love with ed edd n eddy’s fan content. shoot out to others on this app!
if you have read this much i want to say thank you. you are very pleasant and we should become caterpillars and intertwine 🤗🤗🥰🥰

so happy for Jonathan he deserves as his fan since 2012 I’m glad he’s getting his chance and time but yeah the way bridgerton  family acted when Rege left like Phoebe didn’t also leave was pure racism bc they can be happy for Jonny but was attacking Rege for it! Hypocrites Wbk the Bridgerton fandom is filled with miserable losers and just overall horrible people who hate on actors because their lives are so insignificant and sad that they have to hate on actors in general like most are with Nicola 25/8 and Luke for being close to her 😂 or to Rege for wanting better roles and bigger opportunities for himself in hard cruel job/business especially for him but they are also the same people being happy celebrating Johnny (as they should bc he’s worked hard for it but the hypocrisy of it all) or celebrated Phoebe for doing the same for their careers wanting more like Rege did! We all know why they hated Rege for picking himself over horribly lazy written show but are celebrating Johnny now N celebrated Phoebe when she left!same reason they hated on Edwina/Marina and Rege/charithra all these years pure RACSIM nothing more nothing less just that

Very long post with an intro into music I like! i have posted about most of these bands before at some point, but here's a masterpost of sorts.
@literatureisdying here it is! it is intimidatingly long sorry but I really hope you enjoy it! i tried to group the songs, they are in a more or less logical order but feel free to just pick some or shuffle.
Patti Smith - my favourite! I could talk forever about Patti I love her with all of my being. she was initially a poet and artist before turning her poems into rock and roll in the early seventies in the New York punk scene - she is very influential to just about every female rock musician since. her four earliest albums are the best, her debut Horses is generally regarded as one of the best albums ever. in more recent years she has written a series of memoirs which are also amazing and definitely worth reading even if you don’t know anything about her or her music. her androgynous style and generally i-don’t-give-a-shit punk attitude have become iconic. (***disclaimer for this part - she has one song using the n-slur, she isn’t racist, she was trying to reclaim the word but she’s white and it came off wrong. it was the wrong choice of word. she’s not racist, i don't support use of that word, the fanbase as a whole understands what she was *trying* to do and then ignores that song and moves on. this is a PSA, please no one try to argue with me about this thanks. sorry to put this right at the top.***)
Einstürzende Neubauten - German industrial band led by Blixa Bargeld, they formed in west Berlin in the early 80s and had a bit of a reputation for wrecking stuff - a lot of their early stuff is shouting in German with distorted guitar and hitting metal stuff but as they evolved they wrote some really beautiful things.
PJ Harvey - my other love! PJ is a constantly evolving artist and every single one of her albums is something different and also very good. She has an amazing voice and plays guitar and piano and has incredible stage presence, especially from 1995 with all the costumes and makeup - a lot of her songs kind of fit the ‘female rage’ vibe (especially Rid Of Me) but she does it very very well - since the mid 2000s she has done some stuff concerned with england and the folk history of it, her new album I Inside the Old Year Dying is amazing and slightly bizarre. some vaguely sapphic undertones to some of her stuff :)
Radiohead - a band to obsess over if there ever was one. They are stereotyped as being music for depressed loner virgins which is a little funny but also kind of true haha. A lot of their music is very ominous and emotional and a bit dark and pessimistic, but that’s the appeal. they are all top-tier musicians - Jonny Greenwood plays a lot of instruments including some you’ve never heard of and Thom Yorke has one of the most iconic voices, and his lyrics are just brilliant. they started off as like a britpop adjacent - prog rock sort of band but then in 2000 they released Kid A, which has not a lot of guitar and lots of ominous electronics instead - all their albums have their own distinct vibe. Thom and Jonny also have a new project called the Smile which are currently releasing and touring.
*interlude* - This Mess We’re In by PJ Harvey and Thom Yorke - my two favourite 90s musicians make a song together!! this is from PJ pop-rock album, she wrote it but Thom sings the second part. I don’t know if they recorded this in the same studio or if she sent him a tape to sing over, but if they did do it together there are no photos of them together which was a missed opportunity if you ask me.
Hole - Courtney Love’s band. sort of riot-grrrl adjacent grunge, very angsty (a lot of this is very angsty though haha). lots of very female - specific songs which is cool. pretty intense, lots of screaming but she’s very good at screaming
the Slits - 70s feminist punk reggae band! they only made one album when they first started but it’s very cool. also quite female-centric, songs about being yourself and fighting conformity and capitalism yay
Bob Dylan - arguably the most influential figure in western music, he has like 40 studio albums but Desolation Row is my favourite song of his. he started off doing folk music, then did stoner psychedelic folk-rock and then almost died and did some country, then folk rock but with a massive band, then gospel rock, etc etc he keeps changing. very enigmatic, hard to place. still tours at age 82. famously has a kind of grating singing voice but lyrics make up for it.
Joan Baez - folk singer and activist - Silver Dagger is a traditional song from her first album - she was only 19! she has an incredible voice, really string vibrato. she was big into anti-war activism and civil rights, did a mix of covers of traditional and contemporary stuff and wrote her own songs too. played at Woodstock festival of music and arts!
Pentangle - late 60s english folk-rock band. they are all insanely talented musicians and Basket Of Light is one of my favourite ever albums - it’s all acoustic instruments but played in really interesting ways.
Led Zeppelin - they may be a band mainly enjoyed by middle aged white men but damn are they good. another band where every member is insanely talented - jimmy page and john paul jones between them can play everything with strings. blues rock - III is their best album and super underrated. songs about lord of the rings, folklore and wizard battles, because y’know, they’re also hippie nerds. some of their stuff is a bit problematic :/ Jimmy was weird and also into occultism.
Joni Mitchell - a folkpopjazz musician - very inventive guitar style, only two of her songs are in standard tuning, and she is also an amazing piano player, and has one of the best voices - she is the originator of the confessional-singer-songwriter-very-specific-lyrics-acoustic-guitar-women, she did it first and best. alas most of her stuff is no longer on spotify, she left the platform to protest antivax podcasts on the site, but everything is on youtube and there are always cds. Raised on Robbery That Song about the Midway Ray's Dad's Cadillac
Aldous Harding - she is from very close to where I live! she does completely bonkers art-folk-something with John Parish who also produced PJ. she’s wonderful. she describes her performance as ‘song acting’ more than singing. i love her. she’s so awkward.  Warm Chris was definitely my album of the year for last year.
Marlon Williams - from the same place! last year he invented a new genre, as you do, Māori disco pop, on his album My Boy. very soulful voice, he was a choir boy, used to do very folk stuff but not so much anymore.
*interlude* Nobody Gets What They Want Anymore by Marlon Williams and Aldous Harding.
SO - Aldous and Marlon were romantically involved for a while a few years ago, he produced her debut - when they broke up he wrote the album Make Way For Love about her, AND THEN invited her to sing with him on this song, he sang his part then sent it to her. so very tragic emotional and cool. BUT THEN - i saw Marlon live last year, and he BROUGHT ALDOUS ON STAGE TO SING THIS WITH HIM. FOR THE FIRST TIME. anyways i was so excited and also very normal about that. there’s a bad phone video of it on youtube but i was thrilled and also astounded to say the least. i have also been lucky enough to meet both of them :D benefits of living in a small country i guess.
The Beths - NZ’s best indie band! lyrics are much darker than the cheerful music and backing vocals would suggest. very good vibes, their music videos are delightful as well.
Courtney Barnett - queer Australian singer-songwriter! she’s very cool, a nice mix of folkier and grungier stuff, has that sort of talking singing style - plays her own guitar, likes fitting as many syllables as possible into the line.
Björk / The Sugarcubes - the Sugarcubes were an 80s Icelandic band doing sort of new-wavey pop stuff but with bonkers lyrics - when they split Björk started doing bonkers electronic pop music. she’s delightful. she’s very good at screaming and singing wordlessly.
Spiritualized - shoegaze-inspired space rock, atmospheric alt-rock - this song borrows from Elvis
the Flaming Lips - delightful 2000s indie rock this album makes me so happy
Voom - another NZ band! indie band very good
Built to Spill - indie rock, fantastic guitar in this one
Pulp - britpop, songs about sex and despair in a way that makes it sound like an intellectual pop-culture review, if Jarvis Cocker says something weird it’s almost definitely tongue-in-cheek
Neutral Milk Hotel - bonkers indie album about loss of innocence inspired by Anne Frank. it’s a bit of a joke that people are like ‘i’m so alternative i like Neutral Milk Hotel’, it’s not as obscure as it sounds like it is.
Dean and Britta - these songs accompany Andy Warhol’s Screen tests, where people would be sat in front of a camera for a couple minutes. designed to match the vibe of the person.
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Australian gothic rock - a lot of their stuff is kinda intense, Nick had some issues, but a cool mix of *sex and death* and yearning love songs. Blixa Bargeld (mentioned above) was in the band for a while - their songs range from full sleaze to full orchestra.
*interlude* Henry Lee by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds with PJ Harvey. hehe now this song - it’s a traditional murder ballad re-written by Nick for his album Murder Ballads. he wanted a woman to sing this with him and so asked PJ - now go watch the VIDEO. like stop reading this right now and go watch the video. it is the single most romantic tension-filled video clip i have ever seen and i love it so much. they hardly knew each other at that point!! and they’re dressed the same and the touching ashajkshakjhs anyways. in one live version Nick has pink nails too hehe. they started dating shortly after this, intensely but not for very long - when she dumped him Nick wrote The Boatman’s Call and the stuff PJ wrote for him is on Is This Desire?.
Sigur Ròs - Icelandic post-rock ambient band - very cool rolling wave of sound music, atmospheric doesn’t even begin to describe it. Svefn-g-englar translates to ‘Angels of Sleep’,  sleepwalkers. the sometimes sing in Icelandic and sometimes in Hopelanic, a made-up language
my bloody valentine - one of the first and best-known shoegaze bands - loveless took them a really long time to record but is amazing, the layes of reverb and delay - you can't ever really hear the lyrics but it’s more about the general feeling.
Slowdive - another shoegaze band, a bit lighter instrument-wise, but lyrics way more tragic. Souvlaki Space Station is a really good album.
The Smiths - original emo band for sad introverts. lots of songs about being alone and unloved, rife with literary references. tragic but in a good way. great guitar, great bass, Morrissey has good voice & good lyrics but some *problematic opinions :/*. lots of plagiarising both lines in songs from books & poetry and also using other people’s photos for album art but it’s cool.
Sonic Youth - new york no-wave band - lots of distortion, ten-minute-plus songs etc. Kim Gordon is the bass player and lyricist/singer of some of the songs and she’s very very cool. another one of those bands with a lot of music
Rowland S Howard - he was in Nick Cave’s goth band in the 80s, this is his solo work from later, it’s pretty heavy musically and lyrically, but it’s cool. there’s just something i really like about how this sounds and how al the instruments work together.
The Cure - they’d make a goth album, then a pop album, then another goth album etc etc - the pop stuff is fun but the goth stuff is way angstier.
anyways, there’s a very long introduction to my taste in music! i hope you like at least some of it :D <3

Greetings, my name is Mikhail but you can also call me Emrys
I am 18 and I go by He/Him pronouns.
I've been on tumblr eversince 2021, at which time I mostly posted and interacted with blogs about classical literature, Dostoevsky specificly! As such, you might find this a re-occuring interest of mine on this blog, coupled with whatever else I'm fixating on!
My interests tend to be all over the place, and as such, decided to divide them into categories:
History
Classical literature
Fantasy
Current specific interests
History;
This is a huge category as it ties into mostly all of my interests, especially the longer lasting ones. Relating to this category would be things such as:
• the 18th-19th century
(Fashion, historical events, culture, literature, art-history, music, shows related, movies related)
• the 80s/20th century
(Subcultures, punk-rock, heavy metal, sub-genres, historical events, fashion, (fantasy) literature at the time, shows related, movies related)
Classical Literature;
This is a big one! Reading classical literature has defined parts of me since I was 13 years old. Though it includes various stand-alone works here and there, the two I most interact with on here would be:
• Dostoevsky (more specificly, the brothers karamazov)
• Frankenstein
This is due to the fanbases being rather large, although there's some wonderful works on dorian gray, shakespeare, any russian literature, horror fiction (E.A.Poe), greek mythology, dracula, moby dick, etc.
I have never found this site lacking on my favorite books! And it always feels like there is space enough for your own contribution :)
Fantasy;
This one ties strongly into my 80s hyperfixations, as well as my interest in sci-fi and the steampunk genre. There is also a certain horror aspect to it that I like. The eldritch horror I contribute to my interest in the 19th century as well, since that genre developed during that time. Some main interests would be:
• tolkienverse (lord of the rings, the hobbit)
• dungeons & dragons (I'm planning a campaign)
• anything related such as fashion, events, oc's, diy
• sci-fi (typically fiction, like the mechanisms, doctor who or star wars)
• eldritch horror and mythical folklore
Current specific interests;
This list keeps updating, since I tend to hyperfocus on shows for weeks if not months, untill I find something else. Still, they always linger and re-occur, so I've decided to list the ones current. It'll be necessary to put them in an order from most to least interested;
The Mechanisms
The brothers karamazov
The odyssee, Homer (currently reading it)
Original Characters
Help so many interests are rotating right now-
On this blog, I tend to mostly reblog fanart, but in the future I'm hoping to post my own art more frequently!
I do not post any nsfw content, though I might reblog or post slightly suggestive content, if I find the artwork aestheticly appeasing. I'm ace so it's not a regular thing. I will also not tolerate any bigotry on my blog, for obvious reasons.
You can find me on insta under the same user name! DM's are usually open. I also can't promise to post regularly, but I will be trying my best!
Asks and art requests are open!!
