I’m obsessed with this show and fear a hyperfixation anyways here are my thoughts on every character in the show

Edwin Paine: forever my favorite, even back before the show when I read the comics! I think it’s funny that basically every man in the show wants him? I’m intrigued by his character arc throughout the story regarding his sexuality as despite dying in 1916, he seems to have had time to slowly become more accepting of gay people (I’m guessing in part due to Charles, who is pansexual), to the point where there’s only mild internalized homophobia if at all, which just exhibits itself in him denying any possible feelings for Monty. I love how face-value and logical he is while still being a sweetheart

Charles Rowland: he has a pan flag pin on his jacket which confuses me bc can ghosts only wear clothes they would’ve worn when they were alive, or how do ghost clothes work? Because he died in 1989 and I’m near positive he didn’t wear that pin back there. Anyways I do love him but I wonder about some design choices, like the one earring (not sure why it just kinda annoys me). That was more a rant abt his design than his character, which I have nothing notable to say abt since I LOVE HIM he’s so real

Crystal Palace: sometimes she was a bit annoying the way she was trying way too hard to pry into everyone’s lives, but honestly that was just momentary annoyance since nothing could make me hate her. I love how her past was slowly revealed (as someone who already knew it from the comics) and how she came to terms with the person she used to be vs the person she is now. She’s so cool!

David the demon: honestly kind of caught me off guard at first bc the person I’m dating is named David but I actually enjoyed his character. LOVED when Crystal dealt with him in the end. He was very interesting

Niko Sasaki: I love Niko, but I have some problems with her character. First of all, I feel like ditsy anime-loving cutesy Asian girl with dyed hair is a weirdly common trope? But whatever my main issue is that it feels like characters who normalize the fetishization of gay men are so common. Like if Niko had been a guy obsessed with lesbian manga evb would be weirded out, so why is it different? If we ignore all of this tho I absolutely adore her and I’m actually praying she’s in the next season bc she was one of my favorites (esp her relationship w Edwin)

Jenny: She is so hot and cool and funny I’m in love with her

Esther: oh my god words cannot come close to describing how much I love her character. She felt powerless and weak in the past and now she’s become obsessed with making sure nobody has that power over her ever again. She was so fun and I loved her attitude! I’m sure she won’t show up next season, as she was the main antagonist of s1, and while I love her, I kind of hope she doesn’t since I think her arc was finished.

Monty: His personality was like 2020 “soft boy” who acts nice and dumb but is lowkey a manipulator. So obviously this kind of made me like ☠️ bc why is he acting like that… but I still love him to bits because he’s just a crow guys he didn’t ask to be human,, Anyways yeah his personality annoys me but also I love him so much so? It’s confusing. ITS COMPLICATED. I will cry if he’s not in s2

Kingham and Litty: I honestly thought they were annoying but I can’t lie they were so fucking funny. Every time they were on screen I laughed.

Cat King: oh my god. He is so camp. I love him. There’s honestly not much to say he is simply iconic. Love how he’s afraid to be alone so chases after other people, he’s so real AGHH I love him

Night Nurse: Ruth Connell the woman you are… 😍 she reminds me of Muriel from Good Omens, in a way, and I love her! I really hope we get to see more of her in relation to the guy in the fish, and see her get to better understand human emotions and why they choose to cling onto the human world rather than pass on!

Also are we surprised when Umi said she wrote that song for her grandma about facetiming and suddenly it became about Taekook facetiming and Tae posting that Facetime screenshot to show everyone the music was written for JK. Just like they claim Harry Styles wore Purple and Green at the Seoul Concert to represent Taekook cause he knows about them. To them every collab TK works with knows about them and the songs are for TK, even if its the artists song and they are only a feature. LMAO

I hope the entire video top to bottom is a total recreation of 7, this way when tkk start trending and taking over IU's work and making it all about TK like they are already starting, then her fans are gonna come for them and then congrats, she won't wanna work with your fav again since its too much drama and Tae will blame you entirely for your insanity. wanna know something crazy? you know that horrible short story that jenny colgan wrote with rose and tentoo, where she's super mean to him and he takes the name corin because rose doesn't think he's actually the doctor blah blah?

well, i was doing a lot of research the other day about tentoorose things and how involved or not involved rtd has been, what his opinions are on these things etc.

the first thing i did was go onto the big finish insta and find if he had liked the tentoo and jackie audio posts, which he had.

these audios are fantastic, nuanced and in character. they perfectly align with everything rtd has said abt tentoorose.

and he commented this onto the posts about it. keep in mind they asked for his permission to make those.

now, back to "the turning of the tide" and here is the conversation about that story:

so, while this is is all jokey since rtd is a sweetheart, it actually blows my mind that jenny colgan wrote that story KNOWING it would not only upset fans, but also upset russell himself. i just cannot believe it. she also said that she loved what big finish did but wanted to "go another way" 😑 i don't consider this story canon since it goes against big finish and the comics, and esp now that i know rtd has no part in it and jenny knows he wouldn't approve- but i wish i understood why she wrote it like that since she has said v kind things about tentoorose before. ah, well. that story can be put in the bin with all bad ooc fics imo :)

last but certainly not least, rtd did not like any of the posts about empire of the wolf on the titan comics page, probably because he doesn't follow them. however, he has liked multiple insta comments about mia and her being the doctor and rose's daughter so is aware of it - and approves of the idea.

we all know rtd has said rose and tentoo are happy, and in all my searching for crumbs i have found nothing that goes against that or that he has changed his mind or approves of the idea of tentoo not being the doctor.

he also liked tentoorose art from last valentine's day, and in 2020 he said this abt journey's end:

see how he never calls tentoo anything but the doctor? see how he says that he used the original idea of tentoo being dangerous and used it for ten? because they're the same guy, which was the entire point on multiple levels.

i made this sort of rtd tentoo guide because i am pretty sure he will bring tentoo and rose back somehow now that he's showrunner again and i thought sharing would be cool for anyone else who wants to speculate how things may shake out 🙉👀💗

Something I've been pondering. Just wondering if any other JKK get this vibe. Jikook are fine. TK are fine. Even after the Taennie pics, TK are fine. You know who's not? Vmin. I keep thinking about when the Taennie pics dropped & we saw Tae for the first time in public after the pics dropped, he was wearing a shirt that said J I M on it and Jimin was hanging on him in in a way where if you focused on him, you couldn't help but notice the JIM on Tae's shirt. Also JM's first live after the Taennie pics, Tae was in his comments asking if he was okay & telling JM to facetime him and JM said no & then JM told us that day he got his moon phases cause of Tae & even said he didn't know if he should say it. Sweet Night being about falling in love with his best friend and Tae saying JM is his only best friend. I also keep thinking about Letter. Letters are associated to Vmin. Tae wrote JM a letter, then wrote a song about JM referencing the Letter he wrote him. And only like 2 months ago, Tae wore a shirt in one of his lives that had "I wrote a long love letter to you, because I found it hard to write a short one" & the lyric he wrote in 4 o'clock about JM is "I wrote a long, long letter to the moon" which references Tae's letter to JM in BV. JM also wore a shirt with the exact quote as Tae's shirt. So they've both worn that phrase on their shirts. Title of JM's secret song is called Letter & the lyrics match Blue & Grey, Promise and Friends. I'm probably overthinking, but Vmin be giving off sus vibes, esp Tae. There is only one duo who seems to be annoyed with each other since the Taennie scandal and it's not TK or Jikook. Jikook seem to be fine, TK seem to be fine, but Vmin acting divorced. And add Jimin's album seemingly pointing at a bitter break up. Sus, sus, sus all around. I'm starting to think there's a triangle alright, but not Vminkook more like Taenniemin. Come on guys, it's the 4/5th of June. This is keeping up with the usual time when something always comes up. always when i get into deeper analysis of jenny we reach this place of spiderwebby supposition where i am working with the information that canon gave us and extrapolating deliberately about what would make the most sense to get us where we end up, because we get like 2 drops of calendiles and then jenny dies, basically. so Obligatory Disclaimer that from here on out we're in the aforementioned land of spiderwebby supposition, esp since jenny's backstory was retconned in, and badly.

ANYWAY. it is implied if never directly stated that the reason jenny didn't tell giles about the angelus stuff was because it was Family Business, and he Wasn't Family. and that in turn creates this really interesting lens to look at jenny through, because, like, she got back together with him after eyghon! that is a huge fucking commitment! but she is still unwilling to reckon with her feelings for him, to the point where they take him by surprise when she expresses them in passion. i think that telling giles why she's really in sunnydale would mean acknowledging that he's important beyond "casual distraction status" -- in the earlier part of the season i can very much see jenny choosing to date giles because she's sure the relationship will fall apart within seconds, but then it doesn't, and now she is having to deal with the fact that she is in a serious thing with someone who doesn't know so many things about her past!

but more relevant to the larger point -- giles idealizes the SHIT out of jenny. she is his port in a storm. she is his lighthouse. she is the thing that keeps him sane and safe by virtue of not being tied to this life in the same way that he is. she chooses to be there with him, and that makes him feel special, and that's also part of why he chases her down so hard in ted! he wants her to keep choosing him and he can't cope with the notion of having driven her away! and while i don't think that his love for her is rooted in that image of her as someone unencumbered by destiny, i do think that jenny would believe that it was, and that she would take great pains to try and avoid confronting giles's love for her, bc she thinks it's directed at the fictional lady she constructed.

AND ALSO ON TOP OF ALL OF THAT: jenny entered into this thing with the expectation of a fabulously terrible breakup, and i always look at her as someone who hasn't ever actually had any serious long-term romantic relationships -- possibly has never actually been really in love! giles is placing his very fragile heart in her hands, and this is TERRIFYING to her, because she has no experience with this kind of situation and she feels that even if he DID love her in totality she wouldn't know how to handle it, or treat him kindly.

I have a theory that might seem a little controversial & wondering your opinion.

So This is interesting to me. Right after Taennie goes viral in Paris JM drops a tiktok of him dancing to a song called "Masquerade" wearing a 123 shirt (Tae's bday is 1230) and he literally starts the tiktok coming out of a closet. Look at the lyrics. "So go on and leave me 'cause I don’t think I need ya. Everything's an illusion, Won't look back and I mean it. Yeah, we can keep up the role play, I don’t care what the rules say, making up things that push me away" and this lyric "Masquerade, danger in what we're doin' It's all over and done, I don't know who we're foolin". This tiktok was also JM's idea.

So I might be losing it right now, but I'm pretty certain Tae had feelings for JM and Sweet Night echos that, about falling in love with his best friend which is JM & pretty much confirmed he had queer & real feelings for JM. Since the Taennie rumors, Vmin seem to have a bit a tension. I don't think they are divorced. I call it adjustment period. Maybe the closet got too hard on them, maybe they even broke up and Tae started dating someone new & JM is adjusting to it. If we think Tae is in fact queer (which he could be bi) and was in love with Jimin, but now dating Jennie and they were walking hand in hand in Paris. Yeah, I think that's gonna hurt Jimin and maybe even cause him to throw some shade Tae's way, esp if he thinks Tae is Masquerading in public with Jennie, while he had a closeted relationship with Jimin. Isn't it funny too that JM released a song Face Off, which mentions a Masquerade party and someone breaking his heart.

Yes...you might have a very good point there but then again, we don't know. He just might be trying to support his friend or it just might be a statement. Besides, he ended up dancing with two seventeen members as well. Maybe as a cover up? I don't know but definitely, Jimin likes to be seen on our screens. Anyway, It's too early to make a conclusion so let's simply wait and see.

Oh my goodness! This whole situation is interesting to me. You have no idea. Just some days ago and for months now, Taekook shippers wouldn't let the rest of the fandom breathe but now look at what's happening. In my last post, Didn't I tell you something will happen and everyone would change their tune? Because I have noticed something is always happening with these idols but it has never been on this scale especially in the kpop world. All these started when Big hit became Hybe. Now two extremely popular idols are publicly walking the streets holding hands to declare to the world that they are a couple, like these Hollywood celebrities do. Just on that one day not on any other day. We should have seen more of them publicly out and about if they were so brave as some people say they are. How very interesting. Yet these same people won't confirm if they're really together despite all the 'evidences' so that if you see them with someone else tomorrow or the next day, they would simply go; but we never confirmed we are a couple. If they really are in a relationship, then they are not that serious about it and feel no reason to clarify anything.

In the end, Taehyung would still return from paris and continue where he left off and People would forget what happened and continue to talk again. One thing I can tell you is that there is more to come. Until they are all in the military, you'll continue to hear plenty of things from them so sit tight, fold your arms and watch.

While I can appreciate a bit of Shakespeare, this is not that, though I bet they love the plot. Tae and Jennie together is a pr manager’s dream. The whole thing basically takes care of itself. It’s cheap, it’s low maintenance, it costs very little actual effort and it will keep people talking for months… years possibly. See, it’s not necessarily about what fandom thinks about it. While it’s probably great they are getting this attention from everywhere, the aim is for both Tae and Jennie to enlarge their fanbases. They want more fans. Putting them together will mean some blinks become Tae fans and vice versa. A pairing of their combined fame though, most certainly also reaches audiences that hadn’t paid much attention to either BTS or BlackPink yet. But a food love story between the prince and princess of Kpop (are they?) will absolutely lure in new fans. And that is how it aids both Tae and Jennie. They have already concurred South Korea, there’s little left for them there.. this is for other audiences. They don’t need pr in Sk, they need it outside of SK. Tae’s album sales will definitely be influenced by this. So many Taennie’s who were only blinks before are going to buy his album, because they will link it to Jennie.

Tae did not choose Jennie for this. Their teams set this up and they only had to agree. Hate is a thing Jennie and Tae always have to deal with. This is just another thing to add. In business emotions don’t play a big part.

What I have been considering since this afternoon though, is that maybe.. maybe… very maybe.. Paris was some sort of test. It's like that time some author got investigated by the military. He saw the public floor plan for a boat but the rest of the floor plan was confidential. He then thought about it for a while & figured out the most efficient floorplan for a boat like that. The military said "how did you know our floor plan?" & he said "this is the best way to build a boat, of course you would make it like this". These things have the same end goal & so since they are both going for the best path to achieve that goal, they end up with the same (or similar) technology.

Yeah YOU shut off communications. Nausea & a rash, not coughing like that... & like, would it really be that short of a time to take effect? idk. If it is that fast to take effect & it is that deadly, then it really should not be classified as "it won't kill you" babes. Then again, the spy had to wear stuff like that, he was probably not up there for long. I was under the assumption that it would be painful & nauseating & annoying (even if you only come into contact with it once) but it wouldn't kill you, even if you're in the atmosphere for hours, for days even. Maybe you would get a rash in your lungs & die like that. I just think it's kind of unrealistic to say it's non-lethal & then switch to it's lethal. Give them a bit more time. Define long-term. Say maybe "it is harmful but not deadly, at least in the short term, but if we're exposed continually for more than maybe ten hours it could lead to severe damage, & if we're too nauseous to get up & get help we could be exposed for more than 24 hours, which could potentially cause (harm that leads to) death."

i am high-key sick of dead and/or brutalized female characters being used as props in male characters' stories and we've all seen "disgruntled cop with a 'fridged wife/daughter/sister" specifically. he is like. the most generic character ever. put on any prime-time crime drama or action movie and you'll find that character. he's as cliche as the meet-cute, as copy-and-paste as a clipart png. i think kirby reed being a cop is more divisive than detective bailey bc she's such a fan favorite but this guy bugs me too just in concept, i rly hope his death is a gruesome one.

now...to play the devil's advocate here...i get the logic of including police officers in stories like this. bc it's easy, okay, it's easy. murder is a crime. the ghostface murders ppl. cops (in theory) investigate crime. ergo, making a character a cop is a conventional way to involve them in the events of the story. do i like this? absolutely not. but do i understand the convenience of it? yes. but just bc it's convenient doesn't mean it's *good* storytelling and regardless of whether you're sick of copaganda or not (i am and it seems you are too, anonymoose friend), we had a cop protagonist in this franchise for 25 yrs!! we've done that before, scream, i thought we were doing DIFFERENT things now!!!

albeit...i'm still thinking kirby might be ghostface? idk. i keep going back and forth. i would hope they wouldn't bring her back just to add her to the body count. i get that her being ghostface would feel like ruining her character to so many people who loved her and while i'm sympathetic to that, i would also be (cautiously) down for it depending on how well it's executed?

we haven't seen kirby in 12 yrs. who knows what almost dying at the hands of a ghostface did to her! not to mention finding out her best friend was the other one!! and as messed up as it is, sometimes becoming the thing that scares you is the easiest way not to be afraid anymore. and theoretically, if kirby were to be (a) ghostface, she'd be like the anti-dewey and if thoughtfully executed, imo it'd be an interesting angle.

like telling jill [sydney] was the reason she loved horror movies so much? ik she's prolly just referring to being a fan of the stab franchise, but in-universe it's still a pretty tactless statement. or at the police station right after jenny and marnie got killed, kirby mentions not getting a ghostface call and just, idk the way she asks if she's not going to live as long as jill and olivia seemed kinda...i mean, kirby has every right to be worried about her own safety, but the way it was phrased, it was almost like she was a self-aware movie character asking, "what exactly is my role here?"

that said, it's extremely probable that kirby is NOT (a) ghostface. she could truly just be another heroic cop protagonist. i don't love the cop part. but i'll take it, if it means having her back and alive.

since kirby is such a fan favorite, it'd be controversial and polarizing to go the route of either killing her off or making her a killer. if they bring her back only to kill her off, it'll actually be a death the audience *feels* bc we care abt kirby and it will establish a sense of stakes in the movie. but it could also easily come across as cheap bc, uh. where we left off in scre4m she was bleeding on the ground, so many of us assumed she was dead already. killing her now could feel like bringing her back *just* for the sole purpose of killing her and that's just plain mean.

making kirby (a) ghostface? who wants the lovable fan favorite to be a villain?? the in-universe horror fan us diehards see ourselves in? one notable of the (many, many valid) complaints about scream: resurrection was that the horror fan ended up being the primary ghostface and cited her love of horror as a motive for violence, thus playing into the stereotype that consumers of fictional violent content are bad people in actuality. in context this didn't bother me personally, but that's besides the point: the point is a sizeable percentage of the audience of a horror film does not want to see the character they relate to thru a shared love of horror be the villain, esp not a villain that potentially plays into an unflattering stereotype abt horror fans. making kirby the ghostface would be a risky move ripe to alienate that audience.

on the other hand, we love the ghostfaces almost as much as we love kirby, don't we? sydney prescott is freaking final girl royalty and depending on who you ask, a draw greater than ghostface. but the thing is neither one exists without the other. we don't have our horror heroines without our villains, nor our villains without our horror heroines...oh good lord, i'm really rambling now and for that i apologize but i'm already this far in i might as well try to remember what the point was...

yes! ghostface, okay. we love them! don't ask me how many ghostface costumes i have! there's dozens of ghostface fan edits, fanfics, posters, fanart, t-shirts. we rank the ghostfaces and playfully debate abt crossover fights with other villains or final girls. horror fandom as a whole celebrates its villains as much as-- and frequently more often than --its horror heroines (i have complex feelings abt this and the gendered dynamics at play in the horror genre, but again, my personal feelings are besides the point here). this is a phenomena touched on by two ghostfaces in-universe, even. amber says the problem with stab is that there's "no bad guy to keep coming back." beth of scream: resurrection declares, "the killer is the real hero of the story," when pointing out that it is the villains who return for sequels, their masks the face of every franchise.

if kirby were to turn out to be ghostface, depending on the execution (which imo is more crucial than the concept itself here), she might wind up being the most popular one yet! the audience already loves her. the audience already loves the peanut-eyed ghost mask. but we don't necessarily love them for the same reasons, so putting her in the mask is tricky.

whatever they do with kirby, it's not going to please everyone. they already made one controversial choice with her occupation. maybe she'll wind up being in the movie for all of five minutes and the most controversial thing of all will be that they brought kirby back after a decade and did nothing with her character at all beyond the badge.

I think last anon is onto something about Vmin & Jennie. I think Tae had a boy crush on JM & this whole fandom, even JKK can admit that. Think of it as Jlo may be your girl crush, but you love your partner. In this case I think Jimin, THE JIMIN EFFECT JIMIN is Tae's boy crush or he use to be. The one he said he admired, is his angel, is his role model. Yeah, Jennie knows all this & she knows Tae wrote several songs about JM & that JM wrote one about Tae & that Tae has one about falling for his BFF after he said JM his BFF, said he likes JM the most & since there is no confirmation on who SN is about, only one can wonder. She also knows JM is super damn fine and has that affect on men, including her boyfriend. I don't think this is some kind of petty jealousy fanfic wattpad, but girly isn't blind. Jimin is just as hot as she is. Also, its no secret JM would get jealous when Tae was hanging with new people, which led to them fighting. We also know Tae was the exact same way over JM, getting pissy & petty about JM's relationship with JK, even other members.

Hiatus was when Tae & Jennie relationship was leaking & he was off with WS more & more & we saw a decrease in Vmin. JM probably felt left out in the cold a bit, esp if he doesn't like hanging with the crowd, AKA WS. He probably was feeling a bit put on the backburner. Just like how Tae felt about JM first started dating JK and he was put on the backburner, even throwing jabs at JK and taking JK to another car to spend time with JM. It was always JK isn't letting JM come, not the other way around. I also think this had a lot to do with JM sitting TK down in ITS. Now the roles are reversed, and Tae is in love, has a new squad & even JK with them from time to time. So JM couple be hurt, just like Tae was hurt. I think Jennie has def picked up on Tae's boycrush like we all did and seems Tae just wants to respect her, same way JM picked up on Tae's crush and wanted to respect JK. The Curios Brothers

Pascal - A very chill and friendly dork. He's the most successful out of the brothers and has the most re known as a scientist, esp since the whole alien-impregnation thing... This makes Vidcund jealous and insecure. I see Vidcund as really competitive and desperate to gain recognition and approval since his rejection from Circe. This is why he felt that selling Tycho was worth it to fund his project, and due to resentment thinking that everyone ignores him in favor of his brother's weird alien baby.

I always see Vidcund like that because of how desperate he is to get abducted haha like he KNOWS he's gonna get probed, he wants to experience was Pascal does. I see it as a very childish little brother thing.

I usually don't have vidcund get pregnant in my gameplay, mostly because I always have my mods in and I turn off male impregnation. the whole 'haha man get probed and pregnant' thing was never funny.

Lazlo is the very chill baby brother, haha. he's ABSOLUTELY a stoner and the more weird one of the brothers. Where Pascal and Vidcund are extremely logical and wired for statistics and black and white, Lazlo is the very experimental and daydreaming one. Def an air head. He believes in theories, absolutely gets sucked into myths and cryptids, and probably rambles on and on about multi universes and black holes.

He's really fun, though. He loves his brothers a lot and is the heart of the family. Great at breaking tension or fights up. Crystal Vu, his on and off Gf, is absolutely similar. She believes in healing crystals and all sorts of weird science... she def id's as a star child/indigo child.

The bro's relationship with their big sis, Jenny, is also fun. I see her as like... she's so unfazed by EVERYTHING that happens ever. She just n ever has any other reaction than 'That's nice' or 'Interesting'. She's unfailingly kind and always willing to help out, especially when Tycho comes in and all three men become extremely useless. They have no idea how to handle a BABY.
