Phantom of the House of Dragons. Chapter 1:

Phantom of the House Targaryen 

Aemond Targaryen x Reader, Lucerys Velaryon x reader 

Summary: Mashup between House of the Dragon and Phantom of the Opera, Aemond as the Phantom/Eric, Luce as Raoul and our darling reader as Christine. With 2 different endings, one for each lover man. 

Warning: typical cannon violence and warnings in both fandoms, potential smut in later parts

Chapter One: Angel of Music

The Opera House of Dragons was the most popular opera house of the time. Spectacular shows of love, romantics, tragedies and comedies alike. Everyone knew the name and vied to even be in the building let alone see a show. But there was a hidden secret whispered among the people… that it was haunted by a ghost, the phantom of the opera, he was known as. 

During a rehearsal of the current show the manager, Lefevre interrupted “Ladies and gentlemen,- may I have your attention, please?” the cast stops and circles around him “As you know, for some weeks there have been rumors of my imminent retirement. I can now tell you that these were all true and... it is my pleasure to introduce to you the two gentlemen who now own the House of Dragons: Monsieur Richard Firmin and Monsieur Gilles Andre. I'm sure you've read of their recent fortune in the junk business” Lefevre held his hand in the direction of two older looking men. Both were dressed as wealthy businessmen. One was short with balding gray hair and a lecherous look on his face and the other was taller and even taller hair, spiked to a point and a pompous look etched into his features . 

“Scrap metal, actually” Firmin -the shorter man of the two- jutted out “And we're deeply honoured to introduce our new patron,.. ” he spoke louder to the group of the now gathered cast.

The remaining owner with the mustache piped up, shouting over and interrupting his colleague in excitement “The Prince Lucerys Velaryon!!!” and the crowd cheered, loud claps heard all over the halls. As all attention was moved to the Prince. He had a lithe but strong build, curly chocolate brown hair styled to perfection and plump lips, but the real show stopper was his beautiful brown eyes, so deep someone could get lost in them. Screams of bravo and salutations shook the room to let the Prince know he was welcome. 

Unbeknownst to him his childhood friend and crush, Y/N Daae, only stood a few feet from him.

“Its Luc” Y/N she said under her breath as to not be heard but the others. She whispered to her friend Haelena, who stood by her side “Before my father died... at the castle by the sea... you could say we were childhood sweethearts... He called me “his little dragon””. She whispered to her friend Meg, who stood by her side watching the scene unfold and seeing Y/n eye’s light up. 

“Oh Y/N he is so handsome” she whispered back 

The Prince’s words interrupted the private conversation while he addressed the group “My parents and I are honoured to support all the arts, especially the world renowned Opera House of Dragons”. He looked around the audience. “I believe I'm keeping you for your rehearsal. I will be here this evening to share your great triumph” and with those parting words he exited the stage passing by Y/N in a hurry.

“He would not recognize me” she whispered again to Haelena ”we were but children at the time.” Haelena could see the sadness in her eyes and watched Y/N’s shoulders slump. 

“He didn't see you” she said softly in order to cheer her friend up and they exchanged a soft smile.

Madame Alicent entered their view followed by the new owners, ushering the chorus girls to start dancing, so Haelena and Y/n took their places in the line up. They eased into the flowing dance, matching the rhythm of the music and the others. 

Alicent led them around the dancers “We take a particular pride here in the excellence of our ballets, Monsieurs” 

“I see why” he lechery pointed as Haelena “especially that little white haired angel”

“My daughter, Haelena, Monsieur” 

“And that exceptional beauty? No relation, I trust?” the taller owner spoke, proud of himself for the jab”

“Y/N Daae. Promising talent. Monsieurs, very promising” Alicent said in a very proud way

“Daae, did you say? No relation to the famous dragon dreamer?” he looked questionably at Alicent as he fiddled with his mustache.

“His only child... orphaned at seven when she came to live and train in the ballet dormitories…” 

Almost salivating Firmin utters out “An orphan you say?” 

“I think of her as a daughter also. Gentlemen, if you would kindly stand to one side?” as the dancers moved towards the area in which they stood. And the chorus picks up with our leading diva, Carlotta headed to the center, visibly irritated with the lack of attention from the new managers who were gawking at the dancing girls. 

After almost screaming her final note she spats loudly “I hope the prince is excited by dancing, girls as your new managers... because I will not be singing!!!” and glared at the pair, Andre and Firmin look at eachother panic on their faces and carlotta starts to storm off. 

The new managers turn their panicked faces towards Alicent and the previous manager who still lingered

“Grovel” they say in unison “grovel”

Andre and Firmin dash across the stage.

“Signora please” Andre pleads

Carlotta raises her hand in a shoo-ing manner “see you later because I'm going now! It is finished” she yells dramatically 

“World renowned artist and great beauty…” Firmin attempted to save the situation  

Carlotta slows down.

“Principessa! Bella diva…” she smirks at his words, adoring the attention 

Adnre turns to the Monsieur Lefevre “... isn't there a rather marvelous aria for Elissa in Act Three of Hannibal? Perhaps the Bella…”

Firmin interrupts with “as a personal favour if you would oblige us with a private rendition? Unless, of course, Monsieur Reyer objects…”  he looked back to Reyer, the old Maestro. 

“If my managers command” Carlotta won over by their flattering words 

“as My diva commands” Firmin bows his head, ushering her back to center stage. 

Carlotta whips her head to the conductor “Maestro”.

The cleaners could be seen putting earplugs in as preparation for the private showing” Carlotta clears her throat and belts out “Think of me, think of me fondly, when we've said goodbye. Remember me once in a while - please promise me you'll try”

Suddenly a scream was heard as the room noticed the falling of a backdrop, but it was too late to save the diva, she was knocked to the ground. The Cast rushing to her “lift it up, lift it up” was heard under the set piece. Finally free, dusting off her gown and her entourage starting to comfort her.

Andre rushed over “Signora, please... These things do happen…” 

she glared at Lefevre menacingly “For the past years these things do happen and do you stop them from happening? No!” then whips her rage to Andre and Firmin and with a threatening point “and you two - you’re as bad as him. ”These things do happen!“ Ma... until you stop these things from happening,” pointing between herself and the stage “this thing does not happen! Bye-bye and ciao. Now you see, I’m really leaving.” drawing even more attention to herself. Then silence except the clicking of her shoes as she stormed out. 

Both Andre and Firmin were frozen in their place, scared for their now questionable success. Madame Alicent came up behind them holding a white envelope, a broken red wax skull seal. “I have a message from the opera ghost” 

“Oh God in heaven, you're all obsessed!” Firmin yelled

Alicent not acknowledging is protest “He welcomes you to his opera house-

“His opera house?” Firmin said even more angrily 

“- and commands that you continue to leave Box Five empty for his use” pointing to the viewing box.

Firmin places his hand on his face in stress “obviously we shall now have to cancel as it appears we have lost our star!”

“Yeah, but surely there should be an understudy” Andre pleads 

“Understudy? There is no understudy for La Carlotta” Reyer, the maestro interjects 

Alicent moves back to stand in front of the dancers they were watching before “Y/N Daae could sing it, sir.”

All attention turns to Y/n who was stretching her leg. The new attention prompted her to stand

“What, a chorus girl? Don't be silly” 

“She has been taking lessons from a great teacher.” Alicent protests

Y/N looks nervously between Alicent and the managers. 

“Who?” Firmin straightens his tie regain his composure

Y/n hesitates “I don't know his name, Monsieur.”  Alicent looks knowingly at Y/N.

“Let her sing for you, monsieur. She has been well taught.”

“All right.” Andre, the more positive of the two managers said “come on, don't be shy... Come on. Come along. Just, just…” moving her to the center of the stage.

Then the conductor taped his baton against the music stand, cleared his throat “from the top then mam’selle”

Everyone watches as Christine cautiously moves to the center of the stage.

“Andre, this is doing nothing for my nerves.” Firmin whispered over his shoulder at Andre, who shook his head in response. 

Then Reyer started the orchestra to the same song Carlotta had sung earlier but the reactions of the crew were completely different. 

“Think of me, think of me fondly, when we've said goodbye” Y/n started slowly “Remember me once in a while - please promise me you'll try.” She looked back at the managers hopefully. “When you find that, once again, you long to take your heart back and be free if you ever find a moment to spare a thought for me…” everyone slowly stops their actions to stare as Y/N lovingly, seemingly entranced by her voice. Y/N voice was definitely well trained. 

“Shes angel” Andre whisper

“We found our star” Firmin responded. 

“We never said our love was evergreen, or as unchanging as the sea - but if you can still remember stop and think of me…” Y/n continued. Unknown to her 2 sets of eyes watched her from afar. 

One familiar pair, those of her childhood sweetheart, Prince Lucarys, “Can it be? Can it be Y/N” he said to himself as he watched her sing. His heart picked up in rhythm, old memories of their love flowed back. The flames of his love reigniting. 

The other, possessed only one eye, which was more sinister, more possessive of HIS Y/N. The owner of the lavender eye hidden from view, masked by the rafters, clouded in shadows, also listened to her lyrics, not that he hasn't heard her voice before. He needed his passion to be known by her, to be adored by her. He can not have this unwanted suitor stealing her from him. 

She. is. His.

Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she shook her head. Again the hair on her body stood up and goose bumps reappeared just seconds after they had gone away.

Chapter 3: Return of the Star

“Please call your angel of music, Aemond while we are alone. I need my name on your lips”…. The masked man looked down at her and began he leading her back to her room through the seemingly different passage then before.

The managers had received letters... Letters from the Phantom. A reminder of his salary has not been paid, that his viewing box must be left empty and finally for Y/N to be casted as the Countess. All letters filled with threats of disaster if his rules aren’t followed. Too bad no one predicted how disastrous it would be

During the time Y/N was missing and the show needing to go on, despite the Phantom’s threat Firmin and Andre convinced Carlotta to retake her limelight and fill the leading role of the Countess in today’s performance. This left the role of the Page Boy to Y/N the silent role.

The first acts of the show went smoothly, the managers thinking the threats were empty as they watched

“You cannot speak, but kiss me in my husband's absence! Poor fool, he makes me laugh! Hahaha haha! Time I tried to get a better, better half!” Carlotta dressed in a frilly pink period gown as she pretended to smooch the page boy

“Poor fool, he doesn't know! Hoho, hoho, ho! If he knew the truth, he'd never, ever go!” the Chorus sang.  The crowd laughed and cheered along. 

Suddenly the Phantom’s voice interrupted the performance out of nowhere. It was deep and intimidating. 

“Did I not instruct for box five was to be kept empty!?” the voice projected itself to the crowd he began to laugh menacingly. The lights began to flicker on and off. As the laughter grew louder.

Carlotta looks tearfully up at the Manager’s box and shakes her head, too terrified to continue so Andre and Firmin hurry onto the stage to usher the sobbing Carlotta off. They have the curtain lowered. Only the footsteps of the cast running behind it could be heard   

Firmin cleared his throat and assured the audience “Ladies and gentlemen, we apologize. Er, the performance will continue in ten minutes' time… He addresses Box Five which is now EMPTY, When the role of the Countess will be played by Miss Daae. Thank you.” With the announcement the lights stopped their flicker and the laughs silenced. 

“Meanwhile, ladies and gentlemen, we shall be giving you the ballet from Act Three of tonight's opera.” Andre closed 

As they exit the stage, curtains reopen revealing dancing fairies and a forest theme, a shepherd leading his sheep across the stage and other small animals play off to the side. It would almost seem beautiful if under different circumstances. 

Y/N is off to the side of the stage, Madame Alicent helping her change into the countess’ costume. Y/n notices beside her laid a very familiar red rose with a black ribbon. The same as what she received after her last performance. From Aemond, from the Phantom, her Angel of Music. 

As she picked it up screams and shrills were heard from the crowd and cast. Y/n looked on stage and saw one of the stagehands dangling on the end of a rope around his neck. The screams grew louder as people began to flee the opera house. 

“Ladies and gentlemen, please remain in your seats. Er, do not panic. It is simply an accident... an accident…” was barely heard over the commotion from a panicked Firmin. 

Y/n fled as well, running in terror and fear yet still holding onto the rose that was left for her. Running backstage he was met with Luc who was searching for her. Luc wanted to protect his love, his Y/N. 

Y/n gently grabbed Luc’s hand and began leading him away, fleeing up an iron spiral staircase leading to the roof. Y/N racing up, in a frenzy of terror.

Finally reaching the roof of the opera house, it began to snow lightly in the night. Only dusting of the powder remained on the stone flooring of the roof. Statues and gargoyles lined the edges of the area. It would have been romantic, for a night tryst if under a different pretense.

“Why have you brought us here?” Luc asked Y/N, love and concern etched in his features 

“We can’t go back there” Y/n looked off into the distance of the city below them head nodding to the direction of the door and Luc came up behind her. His hand caressing the exposed flesh of Y/n’s arm. 

“We must return!” he urged 

“He'll kill you, Luc! His eye will find us there!” she warned, not wanting to see him hurt.

“Christine, don't say that…”

“That lavender eye that burns! And if he has to kill a thousand men -” she pulled away from Luc

“Forget this waking nightmare…” Luc pleaded

Unknown to them both Aemond hid from behind the largest statue, an angelic statue, watching the scene unfold. His heart breaking at their closeness. 

“Luc, I've been there - to his world of unending night... to a world with the daylight dissolves into darkness... Darkness... Luc, I've seen him! Can I ever forget that sight...? Can I ever escape from that face? So distorted, deformed, it was hardly a face, in that darkness... darkness…”

As if the claws of the hypnosis grasped her once more, falling to another trance she began singing again, the tune changed,  “But his voice filled my spirit with a strange, sweet sound… In that night there was music in my mind… And through music my soul began to soar! And I heard as I'd never heard before…”

“What you heard was a dream and nothing more…” Luc interrupted trying to bring her back to reality 

“Yet in his eye all the sadness of the world, those pleading eye that threaten and adore…” Y/N looked down at the rose she still carried and the spell seemingly grew. A sense of relief befell Aemond face as he watched on, soothed by her promising words of him

“Y/N…” he approached again, pulling her from the edge and the rose dropped from her hands. Luc began softly singing to Y/N “No more talk of darkness, forget these wide-eyed fears. I'm here: nothing can harm you - my words will warm and calm you. Let me be your freedom, let daylight dry your tears.” the snow continued to fall, lighting covering their hair and shoulders, framing them perfectly. 

Y/n was back, the spell was broken.

“Say you love me every waking moment, turn my head with talk of summertime... Say you need me with you, now and always... Promise me that all you say is true - that's all I ask of you…” Y/N continued and walked closer to Luc

“Let me be your shelter, let me be your light. You're safe: No one will find you - your fears are far behind you…” Luc holding his arms out to her waiting for her approach

“All I want is freedom, a world with no more night... and you, always beside me, to hold me and to hide me…” finally knowing the warmth his embrace offered

“Then say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime... let me lead you from your solitude…” Luc looked down at her

“Say you need me with you here, beside you... anywhere you go... let me go too - Y/N, that's all I ask of you…”

“Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime... Say the word, and I will follow you…”

“Share each day with me, each night, each morning…” they harmonize 

“Say you love me…” she pleaded

“You know I do…” looking from her eyes to her lips and began leaning forwards

“Love me - That's all I ask of you…” they sync up again

Luc lowers his lips to Y/N gently meeting hers. Sharing a passionate kiss, their first but as if it was their last. His hands begin to wrap around her frame holding her close, as of any second she would float away. He picks her up again, spinning them around, lovingly.

Placing her Y/N back down. They both pause for breath, regaining eye contact, never wanting to part “Anywhere you go, let me go too... Love me - that's all I ask of you…” he finished 

Luc began to lean back to her lips “I must go - they'll wonder where I am... Come with me, Luc” leading him back to the rooftop door

“Y/N, I love you!” He dropped the rose he took from Y/N and went with her eagerly. 

Disappearing from Aemond’s view they head back down the iron staircase back into the opera house. 

Aemond emerged from behind a statue, bent down to pick up the rose, with tears forming in his eye “I gave you my music... made your song take flight... And now, how you've repaid me: denied me and betrayed me... He was bound to love you when he heard you sing... Y/N…” he softly and sadly sang to himself. Sinking to his knees holding the rose tightly to his chest and a tear dared to fall down his cheek "Y/N"

Crushing the rose in his clutch, he stood heading back to his hiding place “You will curse the day you did not do all that the Phantom asked of you...!” he sang threateningly into the night sky.

Phantom of the House of Dragons, Chapter 4: Masquerade

Chapter 4: Masquerade 

A Masquerade, thrown by the House of Dragons, everyone wanted to partake. It was the party of the year. Full of mystery, fun and dancing. Anyone who was anyone arrived decked out to the 9s, flowing gowns and fancy ties adorned the patrons. 

Amongst the loud cheering, chattering of guest Luc and Y/N found a corner to share a moment just for the two of them. They stood close together so they could hear each other, her dress pressing up against his legs, from the proximity. Y/n was wearing a beautiful pink flowing gown that suited her flawlessly, accentuated her curves in the best way. Although nothing outshined the newly acquired ring hanging on a chain around her neck… an engagement ring. 

“Think of it! A secret engagement! Look - your future bride! Just think of it!” she looked up at Luc, love in her eyes 

“But why is it secret? What have we to hide? You promised me.” Luc pleaded to his future bride and he rested his hand on the side of her neck, gently caressing her cheek with his thumb. He leaned down so he could capture his lips with hers. 

Placing her hand on his chest to stop his approach “No, Raoul. Please don't. They’ll see…” 

Moving his hand from its place on her cheek to holding her chin between his thumb and pointer finger so they would keep eye contact. “Well, then let them see. It's an engagement, not a crime! Y/N, what are you afraid of?”

“Let's not argue…” they say in unison

And the music began to play louder, drawing their attention. “Come, Luc, let’s dance” and she pulled him away from their tryst in the corner to the center of the dance floor’

Singers and dancers began circling the room in flow with the music “Masquerade! Paper faces on parade! Masquerade! Hide your face, so the world will never find you! Masquerade! Every face a different shade... Masquerade!” Y/N and Luc spinngin along with them, Luc holding her tight in his arms protectively” Look around - there's another mask behind you! Masquerade! Burning glances, turning heads... Masquerade! Stop and stare at the sea of smiles around you! Masquerade! Grinning yellows, spinning reds... Masquerade! Take your fill - let the spectacle astound you!”

At the climax if the song, Helaena suddenly screams at the sight of the a figure on the balcony, next to the top of the stairs. The music shuts off at the yell of terror as the figure jumps across to the stairs and slowly starts to descend. A tall and towering  man dressed in crimson, his long white hair slicked back, adored on the figure’s face was a skull mask. The mask covers his eyes and nose, but that left his beautiful lips exposed. 

“Why so silent, good messieurs? Did you think that I had left you for good? Have you missed me, good messieurs? I have written you an opera!” the phantom sang angrily as he pulled out a leather covered manuscript that he threw on the ground. “Here I bring the finished score - "Don Juan triumphant"!”

 He continued down the stairs and stopped in front of Carlotta and her male lead Piangi. “Fondest greetings to you all, a few instructions just before rehearsal starts: Carlotta must be taught to act…” Carlotta's face turned red “...Not her normal trick of strutting round the stage.” and turned to Piangi “Our Don Juan must lose some weight - it's not healthy in a man of Piangi's age!” turning slightly the white haired phantom “And my managers must learn that their place is in an office - not the arts!” staring at Andre and Firmin who stood on the other side of the stairs. 

He continued his journey down the stairs, towards Luc and Y/n who stood at the base of the grand staircase, 

“As for our star, Miss Y/N Daae…” he sang slowly and menacingly “No doubt she'll do her best - it's true her voice is good. She knows,though, should she wish to excel, she still has much to learn, if pride will let her return to me, her teacher, her teacher…” he slowed as he reached his destination, just in front of Y/N. Only a few steps separated them. Looking deep at each other, Y/N seemingly falling under a spell again. 

Magically, the lights dim, isolating Aemond and Y/N. She is mesmerized by him. He reaches out, he notices the ring, grasps the chain and rips it from Y/N neck. Luc jumps between them protectively. Aemond turns to him furiously.

“Your chains are still mine - you belong to me!” whipping back to Y/N. 

Then a flash and a cloud of smoke appeared, but as quickly as they came ,the Phantom disappeared down a trap door in the floor. Luc being the protector he is, sees the door amongst the smoke and jumps down to follow the ghost, needing to stop this madness. 

What was found below the door was a maze filled with mirrors to appear endless and disoriented. “Show yourself, ghost” and the door snapped shut above Luc’s head, darkening the room. With the little torch light that crept through, the flash of the crimson cloak was caught in the corner of Luc’s eye causing him to spin and chase after it. Everytime Luc thought he caught up to the phantom, it appeared to be an illusion. 

A thud and a drop of a noose dropped in Luc’s view. And seemingly out of nowhere a hand pulled him towards it… then passed and out into a stone hallway. Realizing the owner of the hand was none other than Madame Alicent, Luc released a gasp of relief. 

Madame Alicent is hurrying Luc through a more illuminated part of the corridor. Small gas lamps flicker in the gloom. “Madame Alicent... Wait...!” Luc spoke as he followed Alicent through the corridors. 

“Please, Monsieur, I know no more than anyone else.”

Sensing it wasn't the whole story “That's not true.” “Monsieur, don't ask... There have been too many accidents.” causing her to pause and look back at the Prince and continued her journey. “Accidents? Please, Madame Alicent, for all our sakes…”

Madame Alicent reached a door and stopped and looked back at Luc again then at the darkened hallway very frightened.

“Very well”. She quickly opened the door and entered the adjoined room, pulling Luc along with her. “It was years ago. There was a traveling fair in the city. I was very young.”

“Please go on”

~Enter Flashback~ 

The fair was grimy, filled to the brim with creepy, leering men, prostitutes, and drunkards vangrands. Long rows of banners proclaiming the various attractions, the tent entrances flap in the cloudy evening wind. A crowd gathered around the entrance of a tent with a hellish theme, slinking in Alicent stood in the front of a cage that was in the center of the tent.

The cage… inside, was a boy whose head was covered in a sac. The boy was crafting a delicate display for a model monkey. A tall man entered the cage cracking a whip, letting out an evil laugh as he cornered the boy in a corner. The boy dropped what he was holding and scrambled to a corner, trying to make room between him and the evil man with a whip.

The man -now right in front of the boy- snapped the whip and ripped the sack off the boy’s head. Reliving a child no older than nine, with snow white hair. A scar running down his left cheek and other parts of his body and his eye was noticeably missing. The boy raised his hand to cover his face and the villain began whipping him.

The others in the room began throwing coins which landed on the straw floor of the cage. This didn't sit right with Alicent, a frown clear on her face. THe boy crawled back to his toy as the man gathered the earnings. 

Alicent began leaving the tent after she lingered, stopping at the exit to look back at the boy just as the boy jumped up on the man's back with the very rope that bound the child to the cage, strangling him. The evil man falling dead. Seeing the opportunity she ran back to the child, grabbed his hand and freed him from his confines. 

“Murder” was heard from the tent, both scarred they ran faster. 

They escaped the fair. Alicent led him into the base of the House of the Dragons, hiding him away, a place that would become his home, his liar and playground. The police rushing around the city looking for him but he was never found

“He has known nothing else of life since then, except this Opera House. It was his playground and now his artistic domain... He's a genius! He's an architect and designer, he's a composer and a magician... A genius, Monsieur.” she said somberly looking up at the Prince who sat across from her in the small bedroom.

“But, clearly, Madame Giry... genius has turned to madness.” Luc warned.
